Folded size and open coverage are different things, worth remembering!
Handsome umbrella with a nice feel--easy enough to carry and reassuringly solid! My ONLY hesitation (did I picture something enormous???) was the size once open. It is around 105cm across, so this is NOT a giant umbrella for everybody to squeeze underneath. Folded size and open coverage are different things, worth remembering! With that understood, it is just the size I want for myself. I get proper shelter without feeling as though I'm taking over the whole pavement. If you want lots of room for several people, look for something larger. For everyday use on my own this one is excellent.

Rainy days feel a bit less dull with this one.
Rainy days feel a bit less dull with this one. Good coverage overhead to keep me dry, a frame that feels solid, and a nice looking canopy because, well, practical doesn't have to mean boring, does it? It opens quickly too. For something that looks good AND feels capable when the weather turns wet and breezy, I'm glad I picked this umbrella.
Megan Ibarra
On balance, a purchase I'm happy to recommend.
Well put together, and it feels like a proper umbrella rather than a flimsy spare. My wife was less keen on the button at first; she prefers something broader to press with her thumb. I find it comfortable enough, and the action is smooth once you give it a definite push. A slightly bigger button would be a nice refinement, but it hasn't stopped either of us using it. The fabric opens out cleanly without catching on itself. On balance, a purchase I'm happy to recommend.

A year of use and this umbrella is still doing well, including some fairly blustery rainy days. The coverage is generous for a compact and the loop handle gives a secure place to hold it. Button opening has been reliable, and collapsing the canopy is easy, then I press the shaft back down by hand. My reason for taking a star off is the folded length (I did look at the description, but somehow pictured it taking up less room in my bag). At this sort of price I'd have preferred something a bit more compact to carry, though I can't fault how it has worked for me,

They LOVE having their own.
Picked up two black umbrellas for the kids, ages 3 & 5. They LOVE having their own. The canopies give them good cover when it's pouring, and the whole thing seems solid. We had a couple of finger pinches at first, so I help with closing until they're more used to it.
Kathryn Beasley
The blue colour is nice too.
After too many flimsy umbrellas giving up when it got windy, I wanted something sturdier. About six months in, this one has done well, including on breezy days. The blue colour is nice too. I like having a proper closed loop to hold rather than a tiny handle. It feels secure in my hand while I'm getting things out of my purse, and is easy to carry once folded.

I've kept one of these handy for quite a while.
I've kept one of these handy for quite a while. Being able to pop it open and collapse the canopy with a button is especially useful getting into the car in heavy rain. It looks smart and the folded size works well in my car's door storage. I liked mine enough to buy two for work colleagues at Christmas. Hopefully they will find theirs every bit as useful as I have found mine.
Ruben Wilkins
Good coverage without looking over the top.
For its size, the weight of this umbrella is very reasonable. That is the part I notice most when carrying it. I am fairly particular about how an umbrella looks, though, and wouldn't carry just anything off a golf course. The gray is restrained enough for me, nothing that makes me feel like I am advertising myself in four directions. Good coverage without looking over the top.

For the forgetful but hopeful, a good choice!!!
Paid more than my usual umbrella budget, which is risky as I tend to leave them behind the moment the clouds clear. Hoped it would look as smart in person and it does. A handsome umbrella, feels solid and opens to a useful size without being a monster. For the forgetful but hopeful, a good choice!!!

Eight months of use now and I'm still happy I chose it.
Eight months of use now and I'm still happy I chose it. New York rain and wind give umbrellas a pretty hard time, so I don't expect them to look untouched forever. This one feels durable and has kept me dry through the wet weather I've used it in. For what I paid, I'm very satisfied with how it's done.
Alejandro Jacobson
The original is still in use, which says more than I can.
Seeing little legs sticking out beneath this black umbrella makes me smile! It looks so grown up on them, even when they're just toddling along. They like using the button, and the loop gives them something definite to hold. Grandma bought the first one for our oldest and, three years on, we bought another for the younger one. The original is still in use, which says more than I can. A little less fresh looking now but certainly not worn out.
Helen Pope
The button is super handy too.
Really sturdy umbrella and it spreads out wider than I expected. Two of us can fit under it standing close together. The button is super handy too. Press once to pop it open, again to fold the canopy, then push the shaft back until it clicks into place. That last part had me thinking for a minute for some reason, but once I got it, no trouble. It's a little weightier than you would think from looking at it. Still, it looks cool and it's really convenient to use. If you want something solid with a good amount of cover, I'd definitely say give this one a go!
Jillian Montgomery
For rain, however, this one is excellent.
For anybody hoping an umbrella will rescue them from earthquakes, falling rocks or the end of civilization, perhaps look elsewhere. For rain, however, this one is excellent. I stand under it and remain dry, a wonderfully uneventful arrangement. Since that is the entire task I hired it for, it gets all five stars -- a distinguished achievement in the field of not being rained on.
Kristine Chang
On the plus side, there's a decent amount of coverage once it's open.
I've bought another of these, which probably tells you more than a star rating. I keep an umbrella handy because I spend a fair amount of the day going between buildings on campus, and in a rainy place you soon lose patience with something that's more trouble than it's worth. This one has been useful rather than just another thing to carry.
On the plus side, there's a decent amount of coverage once it's open. It doesn't feel like I'm trying to hide under a tiny scrap of fabric, and there is room to tuck someone alongside for a short walk if necessary. Folded up, it is a manageable size for my bag. The automatic opening is convenient when I get to the door with other things in my hands, and it has coped well with the ordinary breezy rain I've used it in.
On the other side, I wouldn't take that to mean it can be waved about in any wind whatsoever. There is still a broad canopy catching the air. I keep hold of it properly and don't expect miracles; having lots of ribs doesn't remove the need for a little common sense.
Also, getting it back into a bag deserves a moment's attention. The button brings the canopy down, but you still have to shorten the shaft manually before putting it away. I smooth the folds and use the sleeve instead of shoving it in amongst everything else. That takes a little longer, particularly when it's wet, but the folded umbrella is much easier to slide in and out that way.
None of that has put me off using it regularly. For walking between buildings and keeping the rain off without carrying a full length umbrella everywhere, it has earned its place!
Katelyn Mosley
feels solid, and the gray looks nice.
Shade is good under this umbrella, i notice a real difference from standing in direct sun. feels solid, and the gray looks nice. the button does the opening and gathers the canopy again, but you still have to shorten the pole yourself. i put one palm against each end and press them towards each other, that works best for me. the button wants a firm press rather than a light tap. also keep your hand round the handle properly, it springs out with a bit of energy. i held it towards the light to look at the fabric, not a scientific test or anything, but underneath it the sun feels much less harsh.
Sydney Irwin
I'd happily recommend it.
A storm convinced me it was time to replace my old umbrella, so I spent a while looking around before choosing this one. It opens promptly with the button, which also closes the canopy, then I compress the stem for storage. It sits nicely in my hand and rolls up without much fuss. There's enough coverage to be useful without feeling like I'm carrying a huge golf umbrella. It has felt dependable in windy rain too, which was my main concern. I'd happily recommend it. Oh... and for any man wondering about the colour, the gray is perfectly fine.
Karla Bass
The finish is good and the frame seems solid so far.
Looks even nicer in person. The finish is good and the frame seems solid so far. We get blustery spring showers here so I'm hoping it'll cope well.I'd have preferred a slightly bigger handle, but it's not really bothering me. Tempted to get another one to leave in the car rather than keep moving this one about.
Natalie Parrish
The green is really nice as well.
This arrived today and my two year old was delighted the minute he saw it. He has been wanting an umbrella of his own so he can carry one when I do. I operate the button and push the shaft back in after the canopy closes, but he is very happy just holding it with me. It feels nicely made, not rattly or flimsy when opened. The green is really nice as well. It isn't a tiny toddler umbrella, so there is plenty of canopy over him and I can help hold it. For us that works well. He keeps asking to take it out again. I like the simple look rather than a character design. Very pleased with it so far and would happily choose another one.
Maurice Mayo
Such a handy umbrella to have around!
Such a handy umbrella to have around! Opened up, it gives much better cover than its packed size suggests. The automatic opening and canopy closing are brilliant when I'm climbing into the car with rain coming down. I own a few now, with one at home, one at work and one in the car. Not something I'd squeeze into a small purse for an emergency, it's a bit too chunky for that. But I use them constantly. I've given them as presents as well and they've always gone down really well.
Jorge Washington
Quite impressed!
I expected a small umbrella from the folded size, so opening it was a nice surprise; there's a decent amount of cover up there! I haven't taken it out in the rain yet, but the frame feels solid and nothing about it seems flimsy. Still compact enough to put away afterwards. Quite impressed!
Cameron Cortez
Pull it out, hit the button, instant dramatic entrance into the rain.
The excitement will probably fade, but for now I'm enjoying this umbrella far too much. Pull it out, hit the button, instant dramatic entrance into the rain. Very important business, obviously. My one complaint is that the grand performance ends with me pushing the shaft back in after the canopy closes. Sigh. Not quite the effortless exit I had pictured, but still a pretty entertaining way to stay dry.
Alexander Owens
Pretty enough to go with my EGL outfits & still a practical umbrella.
Pretty enough to go with my EGL outfits & still a practical umbrella. I appreciate how little room it takes up folded. The pink looks lovely with my summer clothes & the plain finish is nicely done. Some parasols I've looked at cost much more without looking nearly as nice.
Kayla Dickerson
Nothing fancy to report, it works as it should.
Kept this one in our second car after the little bargain umbrella wore out. It feels solid, with a decent amount of cover for a folding model. The button opening is handy getting out of the car, and the sleeve keeps it tidy once dry. Nothing fancy to report, it works as it should.
Connie Ochoa
Replacing it was an easy decision.
Back for a second one of these. The first went everywhere with me, and I kept using it right up until I managed to lose it. Nothing wrong with it, just me not keeping track. Replacing it was an easy decision. Solid quality and it has coped well with the rainy, blustery days here.
Garrett Berg
That's the compromise, I suppose.
Blue is my favourite colour, so that helped, but I mainly wanted an umbrella that felt dependable for my walk to and from work. I'm out in the rain often enough that a flimsy little one is no use to me. This gives me enough shelter for my work clothes, and the frame feels reassuring when there's a breeze. It folds, although it still takes up a fair amount of space in my bag. That's the compromise, I suppose. I'd rather carry a bit more and arrive reasonably dry than save a little space and spend the walk worrying about my umbrella.
Alexandra Blair
I wasn't expecting to be quite so happy with its replacement.
My previous umbrella had been with me for something approaching twenty years, and retiring it felt surprisingly like parting with an old companion. I wasn't expecting to be quite so happy with its replacement. This one feels solid, and a press of the button has it open promptly without any wrestling. Pressing again draws the canopy closed; the shaft is then pushed back by hand. A simple arrangement once understood, and a pleasure to use. For the price, I consider it a very satisfactory replacement indeed.
Roger Kirk
Lovely quality!
Lovely quality! Really really pleased with all six! They look so pretty for my bridesmaids. Money well spent, ,just remember to push the stem right in by hand after closing before using the button again. Looking forward to having them with us on the wedding day!
Blake Morton
Really pleased I replaced my lost umbrella with this one!
Really pleased I replaced my lost umbrella with this one! The old one had been around for years, but it was fairly small and never felt especially strong. I wanted better cover without ending up carrying a long umbrella everywhere. This gets that balance right. Opened up, it gives me comfortable room, and folded it goes along easily enough. The frame feels reassuring rather than flimsy. I also find the oval loop handle pleasant to hold, which I wasn't sure about from the picture. The only little annoyance is tidying all the fabric after use so it will slide back into the sleeve neatly. Takes me a moment rather than just stuffing it in.Overall, a very good buy and I'd happily recommend it!

A friend gave me this umbrella a couple of months back.
A friend gave me this umbrella a couple of months back. I'd admired his on a windy night when we were out, and assumed that conversation would be forgotten by the following morning. About a week afterwards he surprised me with one of my own, in pink.Effectiveness: After a couple months of carrying it, I'm pleased with how well it works and how it's held up. I've had cheap umbrellas turn themselves inside out with hardly any breeze, so its nice having one that doesn't seem ready to surrender straight away. This one has coped well with the windy weather I've used it in. It's compact enough that taking it along isn't a bother, and i like being able to open it or collapse the canopy with the button. Going through building entrances is quicker when you're not standing there wrestling with an umbrella and getting in everyone's way.Price: You can certainly spend less on an umbrella at a discount shop or the chemist. For what this does, and how sturdy it has been, i don't feel the price is unreasonable though.Overall thoughts: I've now bought a couple for family as well, which probably explains how happy I am with mine. Thanks Haven!

I love the green on this.
I love the green on this. I've owned two similar coloured umbrellas before: one went missing and the other never felt very sturdy. This one feels much more solid than the last. The shade is also closer to what I wanted; the previous one was never quite the right green. I'm fond of the oval loop handle too, which is comfortable to hold. Very happy with this version and would certainly recommend it!

You do have to push the shaft back in by hand afterwards.
We finally decided it was worth spending a little more on a compact umbrella, rather than just picking up whatever cost the least. I wasn't sure what would make one feel better than another, but this seems well put together and doesn't feel flimsy when you open it. We have two now, and they see regular use in the windy area where we live--both still looking good. What I especially appreciate is being able to close the canopy with the button. I can keep it over me right up to a doorway, then get it out of the way quickly without standing outside wrestling with it. You do have to push the shaft back in by hand afterwards. That's simply part of putting it away, and the quick canopy closure is very convenient.
Alexis Ballard
The frame seems solid and it is easy to carry home.
Taking my kindergartener to the morning bus is much nicer with this. We can both tuck under it without getting soaked. It handled a proper downpour well, though breezy weather takes a firmer grip (pretty normal for an umbrella). The frame seems solid and it is easy to carry home.
Carla Pope
Much BIGGER opened out than I pictured.
Much BIGGER opened out than I pictured. The beige is attractive and the flexible ribs give it a substantial feel. Button operation is simple, with the canopy closing at a touch too. A good umbrella overall, although the price is a little beyond what I'd normally budget for one.
Connor Gibbs
look good too and I'd certainly recommend them
We've purchased these more than once now and been pleased with how they are put together for what they cost I run a used car lot in Oregon so umbrellas get used plenty here and these have kept us dry while out on the lot.look good too and I'd certainly recommend them

I have been really impressed with it.
Living in Seattle means an umbrella is something I actually use, not something left in a cupboard. Mine goes to work with me and has also come along on hikes. I have been really impressed with it. There's some give in the ribs rather than everything feeling rigid, which makes it less of a wrestling match in a breeze. In the breezy conditions I've used it in, it has NOT done that awful inside out trick. I also put it up for shade when walking in the sunshine, which makes it useful for more than the wet days. After several years of fairly regular use it still looks respectable. Would I spend the money again? Already have - there's a spare for me, one for my wife, and another I gave to somebody who had just moved to Seattle. Hardly a gift that's likely to go unused here! I don't mind paying a little more for something I keep reaching for.
Gregory Morris
This umbrella has been a good answer.
I wanted a gift my daughter could actually use, as she needed to keep herself and her teaching materials dry. This umbrella has been a good answer. Folded away it's a managable size for her teaching bag, so she can leave it there for wet days! She's so happy with it and loves having it ready when needed.
Phillip Bowman
It feels well put together without being too heavy.
Plenty of cover when it's open, but still a manageable umbrella to carry. It feels well put together without being too heavy. The opening is automatic and another press gathers the canopy, then you shorten the stem by hand. Comes with a sleeve for storing it. Taking a moment to fold the fabric evenly makes putting it back in much easier.
Brent Dickson
Sturdy umbrella, looks smart as well.
Sturdy umbrella, looks smart as well. At 6ft 2 and 200 lbs I get decent cover in normal rain, rather than ending up with soaked shoulders. The ribs have some give instead of feeling brittle. Not the cheapest, but I expect it to get plenty of use.Worth paying for.P.S. don't expect a full golf-sized canopy, this is still a folding umbrella.
Shaun Gaines
Fabric and construction both look good.
This replaced my old compact umbrella, and the quality feels a step up. Fabric and construction both look good. The button action is smooth. It covers me (average build...someone much bigger might want more room) and the messenger bag I wear across my body without leaving much exposed. A practical umbrella to keep tucked away until the rain starts.

what a great umbrella for this price, feels like I got more than I paid for, Nice people to deal with as well I sent some feedback and got a courteous reply, always good when somebody actually reads what you send, the umbrella is easy to use and feels strong,i would happily tell anyone looking for one to give it a try!!

This feels just as good.
My last one got lost while I was on vacation, so I bought another. This feels just as good. It's pretty and the button makes it easy to put up and collapse the canopy. Also feels solid in a breeze, yet light enough that I don't mind carrying it around. Glad to have one again.
Gary Hansen
Rain runs off well and the coverage is good for one person.
This compact umbrella has a well supported canopy and a sturdy feel. The frame has 30 flexible ribs and feels substantial without being awkward to carry. Rain runs off well and the coverage is good for one person. The opening mechanism responds quickly to a button press. It is much less cumbersome than the longer umbrellas I have owned. A practical umbrella with good everyday protection that I can readily recommend.
Matthew Brennan
Our granddaughter thinks this umbrella is wonderful!
Our granddaughter thinks this umbrella is wonderful! It feels a little lighter duty than we'd ideally like, although children playing with any umbrella are quite a test... No problems so far, and she's happy using it. Certainly a cute little umbrella and a hit with her!
Mandy Bird
They feel sturdy and neatly made.
I bought three of these for Christmas presents. There was a little confusion with the purchase at first, but it was sorted out and I had them ready for Christmas. My daughters were delighted with their umbrellas. They feel sturdy and neatly made. Pleased I picked these, and I'd happily buy more as presents for the rest of the family next Christmas.

I stayed dry through some fairly relentless rain.
It got its first outing during an East Coast storm! I had an errand to do anyway ... so there was no gentle introduction. Really impressed with how well it covered me. Folded, it's tidy enough to take along easily, then it opens out to much more cover than you'd expect. I stayed dry through some fairly relentless rain. Pushing the shaft back down after the canopy closes does need a firm hand, which surprised me a little at first. Once that's done, though, it's ready to go again with a press!
Robyn Conway
The fabric feels good and the whole thing seems solid.
The fabric feels good and the whole thing seems solid. Smart enough to take to work as well. I like the oval handle, it's a nice detail. - BUT CLOSING THE CANOPY WITH THE BUTTON DOESN'T SHORTEN THE SHAFT FOR YOU. THAT PART NEEDS A MANUAL PUSH. ONCE I REALIZED THAT IT WAS EASY, EVEN IF IT TAKES A FREE HAND TO FINISH.
Sabrina Rhodes
This has been a good find.
This has been a good find. Walking downtown was getting annoying bcs my other umbrellas kept turning inside out. Wanted something that could cope better and still go in my backpack. Used this on two windy winter days so far and it stayed put. The shaft feels a little light to me, but i think that comes with having a folding umbrella rather than a long solid one. That's a trade off I can live with for being able to pack it away.
Chase Friedman
Open it again and there's another trace.
Nice umbrella, although I keep getting a little oily residue off the shaft when I wipe it. Open it again and there's another trace. Not a big problem for using it, just something I noticed. The canopy opens and closes well and I hope to get plenty of use from it (walking around the city can be quite hard on umbrellas when the wind picks up)
Thomas Phelps
A neat, fairly professional looking umbrella.
For one person the coverage is comfortably adequate, with a little room to spare. It isn't golf umbrella sized, and folded it will go in a backpack, though it takes some space. The automatic opening gives it a satisfying quick pop when the button is pressed. A neat, fairly professional looking umbrella. I haven't taken it into really strong wind, so I can't comment on that.
Jessica Mccarty
Apparently I take rain seriously now.
The little umbrellas you carry because you might need one never make me feel particularly ready. This blue one is another matter! Still folds away, but there's a proper canopy when it's up.I noticed myself in a shop window and had to laugh at how businesslike I looked. Apparently I take rain seriously now. Then there's the problem at crossings, when the person beside you is getting soaked and you start calculating whether two people would fit. Am I meant to offer? Are we walking the same way? Thankfully the signal usually changes before I can turn being dry into a whole social obligation!
