I chose blue and it looked just as I hoped when it arrived.

I chose blue and it looked just as I hoped when it arrived. Had to wait nearly two weeks to actually try it because there was no rain!! Spent a while figuring out the button in the meantime. One press puts it up, another collapses the canopy, then you push the stem down yourself. Once I stopped expecting that last bit to happen on its own, it was easy. I let it dry open before folding it away again, rather than putting it straight away wet. Have used it several times now and people have said how nice it looks! It seems quite generous when you're only 4'10" like me. I can huddle under it with another short person for a quick dash, but sharing with somebody much taller is a different story...we tried LoL

Everything arrived fine.

Everything arrived fine. The beige suits my grandsons' school colors and these umbrella's should be useful at soccer and football. Here in Louisiana it's either that fierce heat or, outside of a dry spell, rain during the games. Nice having some cover for both kinds of weather.

several people have asked where I found it.

After carrying this for months I honestly don't see the point of paying a fortune for an umbrella. The handle is comfortable, there's a decent amount of cover, and the whole thing feels properly put together. It looks more costly than it was, too; several people have asked where I found it. I've used it through plenty of wet, breezy days and it has stayed in shape, with the opening mechanism working the same way each time. For what I paid, that alone makes it worthwhile. Coming up on a year now and the only fiddly part for me is getting the folded fabric neat when I put it away. If I rush it, the bundle is a bit untidy. Taking a moment to smooth it all around sorts that out, hardly a serious complaint. I'd rather do that than keep spending money on replacements. This has turned out to be a solid, sensible purchase and I would gladly choose the same umbrella again.

It looks lovely in person.

My nearly four year old asked for an umbrella for her birthday, so I chose this gray one for its neat appearance. It looks lovely in person. It is a full sized umbrella when open, not a tiny children's one, but folds down tidily. The frame feels reassuringly sturdy and I'm happy with how it's put together. Knowing her, she'll be very excited when she unwraps it!!

Andrea Poole

Very happy to have this one now.

I'd seen an umbrella like this at a local museum and regretted not picking it up there. Very happy to have this one now. The button handles opening AND closing the canopy; you then push the telescoping part down yourself. Used it in a downpour today and it felt reassuringly solid, even with some wind. Good quality -- and a generous size once open for something that folds away.

Steve Macias

Not perfect, but quite reasonable for normal use.

I chose this mainly for the way it looked and it hasn't disappointed there.Only thing was a faint new smell at first. Left it by an open window overnight and that mostly went away. Good!Having now used it in Boston rain with the usual gusts, I would call it a decent everyday umbrella. I wouldn't assume it can take anything the weather throws at it, but that seems a lot to ask from a folding umbrella anyway. I kept it tipped towards the wind rather than letting the air catch underneath. Doing that it stayed in shape and kept me dry, which is what I needed. Not perfect, but quite reasonable for normal use.

This has kept me dry and hasn't turned inside out.

I walk to work every day and wanted something better than the umbrella that was leaving me damp. This has kept me dry and hasn't turned inside out. It loses a star because the size and weight are more than I want to carry daily, so I take it when rain is expected and still carry my old one for unexpected weather. Not a cheap umbrella, but the build seems solid and it has stood up well so far. Coverage is right for me on my own, without being enormous like a golf umbrella. Anyone wanting a really large one might find it small. Overall I'd recommend it to someone looking for a well made umbrella, just be aware it's a bit much to carry around every day.

Kristopher Bass

Funny how a small thing saves all that looking around.

So handy to have at the door, I keep this one downstairs instead of putting it away somewhere and forgetting where it went. My husband takes all the garbage out the night before and in the morning there is always something else to go out, so that is when an umbrella right there is useful. No searching through the house with something in your hands. I keep the sleeve with it so it all stays together when its dry, much neater than the big umbrellas we had standing about. There is room by the basement door too if somebody needs to borrow it for going out.I sometimes put it on the arm of the kitchen chair, just where we will notice it before leaving. Funny how a small thing saves all that looking around. Especially on Tues Morning when there always seems to be something to take outside.

I'm not sure whose handbag this was designed to fit in, because…

I'm not sure whose handbag this was designed to fit in, because mine definitely won't take it! Bigger folded than I pictured, although it also seems much more substantial than my usual small umbrellas. I haven't taken it out in any serious gusts yet, but with the stormy season ahead I'm glad to have something that feels this solid.

Timothy Quinn

It arrived before we left, which was what I needed.

I was getting ready for a golf trip and the forecast wasn't looking very promising, with a chance of rain on every day we were due to play. I'd looked at this umbrella in a couple of places and found quite a difference in price, so went for the better deal. It arrived before we left, which was what I needed. Of course we then managed five straight days of golf without any rain at all. So I haven't actually had to try it in wet weather yet and can't say much about that part, but I'm still happy with what I paid for it!

Anna Vega

I think this is a really beautiful umbrella.

I think this is a really beautiful umbrella. The gray canopy with the black underneath is simple, but the contrast makes it feel much more considered than an ordinary umbrella. I find myself looking at the way the ribs sit beneath it, all those neat lines. Appearance isn't the only thing going for it either. The frame feels substantial and the open canopy gives me plenty of room without being awkward to hold. It has kept me nicely covered in the rain. I'm actually hoping for another wet day so I can take it out again!

Dana Lawson

It's a bit TOO chunky for my smallest bag, but I still love it.

Didn't expect to get this attached to an umbrella (rain rain, go away). It feels properly substantial rather than like a little throwaway thing. My one gripe? It's a bit TOO chunky for my smallest bag, but I still love it. Might have to find something tinier for that bag.

Tricia Gomez

Pleased with how it works.

Arrived early. The green looks great. Pleased with how it works. Covers me and my bag nicely when I hold it at the right height, AND I can still see ahead without tilting it all over. I live in NYC where the sidewalks get packed, so not bumping everybody matters when people are trying to get past.

Marie Hansen

It has that lovely solid feel without being too much to carry.

Years ago I admired an umbrella in an expensive shop but couldn't bring myself to pay that much. My husband later surprised me with this one and it was just what I'd wanted. What a treat!!! The black looks smart and simple, and the whole thing feels properly made. Opens easily, works just as it should and folds down to go in my larger purse. It has that lovely solid feel without being too much to carry. For the money I think he chose very well!

) which made it a lovely gift to give.

I've already got two of these, so I felt quite confident giving one to a dear friend. She was so touched by it (and that I'd thought of her!) which made it a lovely gift to give. Mine have been useful for rain and for a bit of shade on very sunny days. They've kept working well over the last couple of years. Press to open, press to close the canopy. I would happily add another to my own collection and give more away. Good looking and genuinely useful umbrellas.

Kristen Benitez

I'd certainly recommend it as an everyday backup.

This isn't something I'd take out expecting it to fight off hail or a tropical deluge. It's the practical umbrella that stays in my computer bag, not too burdensome, ready to pop open when the walk from work to the car suddenly gets wet. My hair and shoulders are grateful. I've got bigger, heavier umbrellas for when the rain really means business, or when two people need covering, but those aren't much use sitting at home. This one earns its place by actually coming with me. It feels neatly put together without being some enormous reinforced contraption. Over a very wet year it has spared me plenty of unnecessary soakings. I'd certainly recommend it as an everyday backup.

Regina Jimenez

Good solid umbrella, nicely put together.

Apart from when the wind drives the rain sideways, I don't miss my raincoat with this. My son fits close under it when I'm carrying him. I can keep the canopy high enough to see ahead and still have my shoulders covered.Good solid umbrella, nicely put together.

Regina Mayer

A good choice for the way we use it.

My wife likes to walk the golf course with me and uses an umbrella for shade. Her old one could be a handful whenever the wind picked up (nearly taking her along with it). This feels much more manageable for her to carry, with a decent canopy without being an enormous thing. She has been comfortable holding it as we go round and it folds away when she doesn't need the shade. A good choice for the way we use it.

Frank Pope

Not something I've run into before with an umbrella purchase.

I was expecting a different style when I ordered these two umbrellas. The ones we have work fine and both kids are pleased with them, so that part is good. I was just a little disappointed they weren't quite what I'd pictured. Not something I've run into before with an umbrella purchase.

Doris Grant

lol Not the usual reason for an umbrella, I know.

I have had this a while and kept forgetting to leave a review. For what it cost, I can't complain. Its main job here is shading a bird bath. Yes, it's for the birds.....lol Not the usual reason for an umbrella, I know. The water sits in sunshine most of the day and I wanted to give it some shade, maybe slow down how fast it disappears. The fabric has lost some color with use, but it has done what I wanted and I feel I have had good value out of it.

Terrance Rangel

The green looks lovely and it has been good in the rain.

I wasn't certain what to expect from the pictures, but after it came I was happy with the umbrella. The green looks lovely and it has been good in the rain. Some of my family and friends asked where I found it, they liked it too. With the choice of colours and how useful mine has been, I would order another.

Shirley Cook

I don't play, and buying an umbrella wasn't going to change that.

A soaking from the waist down in a hard spring rain was enough to make me reconsider the tiny umbrella I'd been carrying in my briefcase. Its great virtue was disappearing into the bottom of the case; unfortunately, the rain seemed to regard it as little more than a suggestion. This is a much more useful compromise--decent coverage, a reassuringly solid frame, and it still folds to a size I'm willing to carry. The canopy opens promptly and sits well over my shoulders. I don't expect miracles when the rain is coming sideways, but for normal walking about it has done exactly what I wanted. (No golfing expertise here. I don't play, and buying an umbrella wasn't going to change that. What I can say is that this feels like a proper everyday umbrella rather than something chosen solely for how small it packs. If you've been putting up with too little coverage just for the convenience of a folding design, this is worth a look)

Isabel Fitzgerald

has kept me dry in the rain too!!

Needed to replace my umbrella and this one caught my eye right away. The black looks really smart...exactly the sort of plain finish I wanted. Pressing the button folds the canopy in, then I compress the shaft to put it away. That little bit of help is handy. Definitely recommend it...has kept me dry in the rain too!!

Luis Colon

i'd reccomend it for shade as well as rain!

hi everyone i really love using this umbrella for shade i found mine at the fair we visit each year and it was so hot last year i just wanted somewhere out of the sunshine so this blue one caught my eye (blue is my favourite) and walking underneath it felt much nicer straight away! :D its not a fancy parasol that you only take out for something special i just use it for normal walks too and the button makes opening it simple. i'd reccomend it for shade as well as rain!PS. fine in ordinary rain too

Cory Stevens

Overall I'm pleased with it.

Love how well this keeps the rain off when other umbrellas around me are turning over. My one gripe is carrying it, not the smallest thing in my bag. and when it's VERY gusty I can feel it pulling at my hand. It hasn't flipped on me, though. Overall I'm pleased with it.

Madeline Ward

I would certainly recommend it.

I spent ages comparing umbrellas for my 2-year-old daughter. So many of the cute ones seemed more like toys, and I wanted something that felt properly made. This one looked nice without seeming flimsy, and I've been very pleased with the quality. We use the button together to open it. The button also closes the canopy, then I push the shaft in for her. It's held up well to her wanting to play with it all the time. I would certainly recommend it.

Brandi Frederick

The canopy has given me good cover in several heavy showers.

It feels substantial in both senses -- solid enough that I'm not worried when the wind picks up, and a bit weighty for something I carry daily. The canopy has given me good cover in several heavy showers. It springs open with a definite kick, so keep hold of it.It folds down but still occupies a fair bit of space in my bag, not a tiny pocket umbrella. The oval loop is useful, though I can't sling it over my forearm like a hook. None of that has stopped me using it; the coverage makes those small carrying annoyances worth putting up with.

Jade Evans

No trouble keeping dry so far, and the handle feels secure.

My previous umbrella lasted well and still looked decent when it was stolen a few months ago, so I wanted something that felt equally dependable. The beige isn't quite my favourite colour, although it does look fairly smart. Construction seems good and the button responds properly. My one complaint is having to push the telescoping section together after the canopy closes. It's the way this umbrella works, not something wrong with it, but I would prefer less to do when putting it away. No trouble keeping dry so far, and the handle feels secure.

Paige Lutz

Otherwise they look fine and have kept the children dry.

Reminds me of having my own umbrella as a child, although this is a folding one rather than a see-through bubble. I ordered two for the children and they both look nicely made, no tears or marks on the fabric. The button folds the canopy, but the shaft still has to be pushed down by hand, so the younger one needs help with that. Also the sleeves are fairly close fitting, you need to fold the fabric properly rather than just bunching it in. Nothing actually wrong with either umbrella, just worth knowing if you're expecting a small child to put it away alone. Otherwise they look fine and have kept the children dry.

Mario Merritt

The build seems quite substantial and the loop handle is…

The build seems quite substantial and the loop handle is comfortable to hold.It opens out wider than you might think from the folded size, which is good in rain but means you do feel a breeze pulling on it. I have to keep a proper grip and angle it into the wind rather than just walking along without thinking. Good umbrella overall, just not something I'd expect to ignore a blustery day.

Bailey Kerr

This little rain warrior has been earning its keep!

This little rain warrior has been earning its keep! After my old small umbrella gave up in a downpour, I needed something better. This arrived just before a very wet spell in Rhode Island, good timing for once....day after day it kept the rain off and felt steady in the breezes. A little more bulky folded than I hoped, but I would rather carry that than end up soaked again.

Gordon Kirk

It isn't something I'd squeeze into a small purse

I've collected enough flimsy folding umbrellas in my closet over the years. What I like about this one is that, although it folds, it has the feel of a proper substantial umbrella when it's up. It isn't something I'd squeeze into a small purse; folded length still needs some space. In a larger bag it is fine. So yes, compact compared with carrying a long umbrella, but don't expect a tiny pocket one. The construction is reassuring and I'd take this over the lightweight little ones I've had before.

Deborah Scott

The handle feels comfortable as well

I'd call it medium compact, not one of those tiny umbrellas but not full length either. Fits my shoulder bag and backpack with a little sticking out. Spent quite a while looking for something like this, It's been good in breezy weather so far and opens to a useful size. The handle feels comfortable as well

Ralph Oconnell

It feels well assembled from what I can tell.

Picked this up because having a straightforward umbrella around seems like common sense when the weather turns. Although, the whole idea of labelling umbrellas for men or women strikes me as strange. It feels well assembled from what I can tell. I've only taken it out a couple of times, though, so my judgment on durability is pretty limited.

Christie Christian

Having it here helps!

I had questions about the construction before ordering, and couldn't find much to answer them. Having it here helps! The handle has a solid feel, without that cheap brittle impression some have. There is flex in the ribs, but the whole thing still feels substantial. The balance almost reminds me of a little practice sword, an odd comparison for an umbrella. It slips out of its carry sleeve easily without a struggle. Nothing about it feels flimsy to me, and I'm glad I went ahead with it.

Marc Wilson

She was pleased when she opened it.

For Mother's Day I decided to give my mother something useful rather than another thing to put on a shelf. She had been borrowing my umbrella each time it was wet outside. I didn't mind her using it, but it seemed silly that she didn't have one of her own when she needed it. An umbrella isn't a particularly exciting present to some people, I suppose, but it was something I knew she would actually use throughout the year. We always kept umbrellas in the house when I was growing up. I am used to hanging on to them for a long time (a couple of years doesn't seem like much of a life for an umbrella to me, unless it's being used nearly every day). My own has been around for years, which is probably why buying her one kept slipping my mind. She likes gray, so I settled on that colour rather than choosing something brighter. She was pleased when she opened it. We've had wet weather during the past week, so it hasn't just sat there looking nice. Yesterday she mentioned again how much she likes using it. The button is convenient for her and she likes how neatly it folds away. My aunt was visiting over Mother's Day weekend and noticed it too. She thought it looked very elegant and asked if I could get another for her, so I've now bought a second one. The first parcel was actually sitting at the door when we went to welcome my aunt. I hadn't looked to see where it was, with it being the weekend, and there it was. That was a nice surprise. Between my mother's reaction and my aunt wanting her own, I feel I picked well. Five stars from me.

Found the umbrella I wanted for our upcoming wedding and I'm thrilled!

Found the umbrella I wanted for our upcoming wedding and I'm thrilled! I'd spent a while looking and didn't want to pay a fortune for something I could only use once. This is practical as well as pretty/ I'll be using it afterwards too, with a nice reminder of our day. SO PLEASED!

Isaac Rios

has kept me nice and dry as well!!

My old umbrella needed replacing and the look of this one caught my eye straight away. The black is lovely...simple and just my style. Closing is convenient too: a press collapses the canopy, then I push the telescoping part down myself. No struggling with a big open umbrella. I'd certainly recommend it...has kept me nice and dry as well!!

Alicia Durham

This covers both my shoulders and my purse.

I'm on foot all over downtown Chicago, including the walk to work and back, so a reliable umbrella matters to me. This covers both my shoulders and my purse. At a red light one day, the girl standing next to me had her umbrella flip over -- this one did Not. We were waiting in the same wind, which made quite an impression on me. It's been a good companion for those daily walks and doesn't feel awkward to carry around. I'm genuinely glad to have something that works so well for the way I get around.

Alejandro Horton

Beautiful umbrellas, with a solid feel.

Beautiful umbrellas, with a solid feel. Still haven't tried them on a really windy day. CONS: I'd have preferred a more ordinary handle. The oval loop is useful but a bit conspicuous for my taste. I wanted them for gifts and generally look for a very plain style for that.

Johnny Shaw

Definitely happy I decided to get one!

Taken it along for two rounds of golf so far and I'm pleased. The weather has been really hot, and standing under it feels noticeably more comfortable than being in direct sun. It's like having a patch of shade to take with me. Definitely happy I decided to get one!

Winter here in the Midwest has brought plenty of wet, unpleasant…

Winter here in the Midwest has brought plenty of wet, unpleasant weather, and this has already earned its place in my backpack over the last few weeks. I work on a campus and spend enough time at the bus stop to appreciate an umbrella that opens without a struggle. I admit to a little smugness on rainy days, standing there comfortably sheltered rather than fussing with the canopy. A couple of people have asked about it, mostly because it opens to a useful size but still folds away. The frame feels reassuring without my having to carry one of those long golf umbrellas. It lives in my backpack now, and I check that it's there before I head out.

Erik Roy

A useful purchase for the new car.

I changed cars and discovered my old umbrellas were too long for the new door compartments. These two sit in there neatly without sticking out. Having the button to pop one up is a real convenience getting out of the car, and bringing the canopy down again is simple too. A useful purchase for the new car.

Crystal Meza

A solid umbrella that earns its place in my bag.

Had one before this and used it constantly. Then I managed to leave it somewhere and that was the end of that. Didn't spend much time deciding what to replace it with. The new one is just as useful, opens quickly and has coped well with the wind and rain here. A solid umbrella that earns its place in my bag.

Peggy Bush

The loop handle feels solid in my hand, too.

Design: This is the sort of umbrella I can take to work without it looking too plain. The pink adds a bit of femininity without being fussy.Open: A press of the button gets it ready quickly. I don't feel like I have to wrestle with it before stepping outside.Close: The canopy folds with another press, but the telescoping part still needs pushing down until it catches. That takes more effort than I would like, especially when I'm standing in a lobby with my bag and other things. Nothing wrong with how it works, just not quite as convenient as I hoped.Sturdiness: It feels substantial once open and has been reassuring in rainy, blustery weather. The loop handle feels solid in my hand, too. Four stars because I like it overall, though packing it away could be easier

Tom Little

One of the best umbrellas I've had.

One of the best umbrellas I've had. Stows in my bag or the car door, but there's enough canopy to give me decent cover in a downpour. I especially like the closing button at a building entrance. While other people are wrestling with wet fabric, mine folds with a press. Once inside, I just shorten the stem by hand to put it away.

Alejandra Case

Arrived sooner than expected too.

Wanted a reasonably priced umbrella to carry about and this fits the bill! The green is lovely, really cheerful without being silly. Arrived sooner than expected too. It's been out with me about five times and has kept my head and shoulders dry just fine. Obviously it isn't going to cover you from head to toe, but what are people expecting from something that folds up? A portable roof? Let's be sensible. It does the job I wanted it for and I'm happy with it.

Destiny Durham

Opening it with the button works great!

Opening it with the button works great! Its about 40cm folded and roughly 105cm across when open. I'd have liked a little more coverage for the folded length, but oh well. It feels like a quality piece, and I keep it in the trunk ready for rain. Nice to have something there that I'm confident about using.

Anne Bell

Summer in a suit is no pleasure here in DC.

I'm prepared to be the odd businessman with an umbrella on a sunny day. Summer in a suit is no pleasure here in DC. Having shade over my head makes an immediate difference, and frankly I think more men should give it a try. The umbrella looks quite respectable with business clothes and feels well made, so no complaints on that score.

Lance Ingram

A solidly constructed umbrella with a flexible frame.

A solidly constructed umbrella with a flexible frame. The 30 ribs give the canopy good support without the flimsy feel I've had from other folding umbrellas, and it has coped nicely in wet, breezy weather. Also, the button on the handle is easy to reach and practical to use.An excellent buy - gets my recommendation.
