this is definitely the umbrella I'm taking!

AAAh! This umbrella!I keep thinking about sweets when I take it out,no idea why.Nicely made for an umbrella (doesn't feel like a cheap throwaway).Only used it a handful of times, but I've had smiles and nice comments already.People ALWAYS want to know where it came from, and I say,"Found it online!" LOL(if I EVER go somewhere full of candy...this is definitely the umbrella I'm taking!

I've only just placed my order for this umbrella!

I've only just placed my order for this umbrella! so it isn't in my hands yet, but I am expecting a very nice thing! reading what people say about it made me feel it was a GOOD choice. the price seems quite fair to me, I don't mind paying for something useful when it also looks so smart!

this umbrella is brilliant!

this umbrella is brilliant! seems really solid and folds down to about 40cm so I can carry it around easily. the button makes opening it and shutting the canopy handy for getting on and off buses. I push the shaft back down afterwards. well worth the money as far as I'm concerned. already ordered a second one today! I'd certainly recommend it!

For what I paid, I'm very happy.

My daughter uses hers while she's at grad school in Chicago. Three months of wet, gusty walks and it's still looking good. It hasn't flipped over on her so far and the opening mechanism is working just as it did at the start. Feels well made. For what I paid, I'm very happy.

Now he's wishing for a rainy day.

My grandson had been wanting his own umbrella, and this seemed a good one to get him. Some of the comments made me hesitate, but there's been nothing to worry about so far. Now he's wishing for a rainy day. Looks nicely made to me, and he's certainly given the button a workout opening it and bringing the canopy back in. He's delighted with it.

makes a lovely gift too.

my 4yr old son brings umbrellas right down near his head and then cant see where he is walking. So i help him keep this one above his eyes rather than pulling it low. Was expecting it to open wider, still easily big enough for him. He likes pressing the button, i take care of packing it away. The gray works for a boy or girl, which was something i wondered about looking at it. Main thing for me is its a little different with the oval handle. Not just the usual shape. makes a lovely gift too.

Probably my favourite umbrella so far.

Probably my favourite umbrella so far. Fits into my bag or the car door storage without taking over, yet opens wide enough to give me decent shelter in a downpour. The button closing the canopy is especially handy at the building entrance. While everyone else is wrestling theirs shut, mine is already out of the way. Very pleased with how practical it is.

The pink is so pretty that I felt I ought to leave a review!

The pink is so pretty that I felt I ought to leave a review! It looked nice in the picture, but in person the fabric and the whole feel of it are even better. I chose it for my mother and she is delighted with it. A really pretty pink, without being too pale. She mainly carries it for shade and says it is a comfortable size for her. It looks sturdy enough to be useful in rain too :) I'm rather tempted to get one for myself now. Something pretty that you can actually use, which is always a nice combination :)

Three years with mine and it's still going strong.

Three years with mine and it's still going strong. Bought another for my husband because mine kept disappearing with him. The frame has held up nicely and the flexible ribs cope well with breezes, insted of feeling like they will buckle at the first puff of wind.

Jo Schneider

Such a cute little umbrellie!

I hesitated after reading worries about how long umbrellas like this last, but a year later mine is still going strong! It takes a proper push to slide the shaft back down after the canopy shuts, nothing troublesome once you're used to it. Such a cute little umbrellie!

A little bigger folded than some compacts I've owned, but the design makes sense once it's open. Feels secure in the moderate wind I've tried it in and it hasn't given me any trouble. Rain shakes off quite easily before I take it indoors, which I appreciate.I chose green partly because I wanted to stand out more when crossing roads. Not the usual black umbrella that disappears against everybody else's coat. I still don't assume a driver has seen me, especially after dark, but I prefer having a bit of colour up there instead of blending into the pavement.

For the money, I'm pleased.

Item being reviewedGreen Compact Umbrella - Auto Open / Canopy CloseI am really enjoying this umbrella and have picked up more to give as presents. My husband is amused at how pleased I get over green things, including an umbrella. The colour is nicer in person than in the picture, and the whole thing feels well put together........quite solid. Nice to give something useful as well as pretty. For the money, I'm pleased.I'm putting down 5 stars ! A good buy !

He was so pleased with his umbrella.

He wanted this along whether it was raining or sunny. It caught the eye of his preschool class and somebody else took it home, we're still hoping the parents bring it back. the canopy gives my little four year old lots of room and I help him with the button when we use it. He was so pleased with his umbrella. Might have to buy another if this one doesn't find its way back to us.

Being able to carry some shade has made getting outside feel possible again. Developing a sun allergy when I've always been an outdoors sort of woman has been a real adjustment, and I miss that freedom. I still take my usual precautions, but having this with me helps me enjoy a little more time outside. It's a nice looking umbrella, seems solid so far, has kept the rain off too, and opening it or closing the canopy is quick, which I appreciate.

Good coverage when it's open and a useful folded size.

I lost an umbrella I'd owned for ten years and was quite particular about replacing it. I ended up choosing two of these and have been very pleased with both. The pink looks lovely. The automatic opening works smoothly and the construction feels substantial without being awkward to carry. My daughters have received these as presents too and they are happy with theirs. I don't want to be shopping for umbrellas all the time, so once I find one I like I tend to stick with it. Good coverage when it's open and a useful folded size. Mine also arrived earlier than I expected. I would have no hesitation choosing the same umbrella again.

Rain looked likely so I ordered this for her.

My 6 year old granddaughter stayed with us for a bit of the summer and we had a few days out planned. Rain looked likely so I ordered this for her. Green is a favourite of hers so that part was easy. She manages the button fine and likes having her own umbrella, very pleased with it

Finding this folding version was a welcome surprise.

I had missed having a generous umbrella that I could still put away in a briefcase. Finding this folding version was a welcome surprise. Once opened, it offers almost the shelter of a much bigger umbrella, but I don't have to carry a long stick around all day. For me that balance of useful coverage and portability is what makes it so good.

Thomas Harvey

Folded, it is manageable in a bag.

There is something rather pleasant about the idea of gentle rain, provided one has an umbrella. During summers in England I came to appreciate the sort that falls quietly and leaves one's shoes reasonably dry. Back in North America the weather is rather less considerate, so I wanted something more substantial than a flimsy emergency umbrella. This one has been a very satisfactory choice for ordinary wet days. Open, it is ample for my needs; I cannot see much advantage in carrying a much larger canopy unless one has somebody else's doorway to attend to. Folded, it is manageable in a bag. One caution concerns the spring action. The canopy goes up at a press and comes down with another, but the telescoping shaft must then be pushed home by hand. That last movement takes a firm push, which is worth considering for anyone with limited strength. P.S. The pink is a particularly pleasing colour.

Krystal Duffy

Arrived in good order.

Arrived in good order. A solid umbrella with a strong opening action. Pushing the telescoping section in takes some effort, my wife may simply leave it open between uses. Here in Thailand there's lots of sunshine and space to leave it. The quality seems excellent.

Norma Conley

It looks good and the whole umbrella feels solid in the hand.

Only had it since last week, but the wet weekend gave me a proper chance to try it. It looks good and the whole umbrella feels solid in the hand. Folded up, it's bigger than I had imagined, although that's getting less noticeable as I use it. The important part---it did its job in the wind! Crossing a parking lot, I could feel the wind tugging, but the canopy stayed in shape and I got across without a soaking. That's much more useful to me than having something tiny that doesn't give enough cover. A promising start.

Sean Shelton

My mother collects umbrellas, so this was a lovely addition for her.

My mother collects umbrellas, so this was a lovely addition for her. She's actually wishing for wet weather so she can take it out and let her friends see it. I'm so glad something this simple has made her smile! At 84 she can manage the push button without any trouble. Now I'm tempted to order one for myself too

Judith Patel

A proper everyday umbrella.

A proper everyday umbrella. Compact enough to bring along, sturdy enough that I don't dread opening it when the weather turns. The button gets it up promptly and it's been reliable on my walks around New York. No fuss, just does the job. The gray is fairly plain, though there's something to be said for not having a loud pattern. Let other people brighten up the pavement, I'll take an umbrella that gets me home dry and folds away afterwards.

Carl Middleton

Opened indoors it feels solid and the fabric looks substantial.

For a reasonably priced umbrella with decent coverage, it seems a good option. I haven't actually taken it out in rain yet, so that part will have to wait. Opened indoors it feels solid and the fabric looks substantial. More room underneath than I expected from something that folds up for carrying.

Stuart Pollard

Still love using it!

Mine has been with me for three years and has certainly earned its keep. Plenty of wet days, some snow and the odd hail shower, and just one occasion where it turned inside out.Not bad going! The button opens it quickly and brings the canopy in again, then I push the stem down. Doesn't need much storage room but gives decent cover when open. Still love using it!

Makayla Mccarthy

It suits me.

It suits me. Probably would suit you...unless you're after something huge...in that case, get a huge one. Apparently I haven't written enough words yet and I'm not sure what else an umbrella needs said about it. Stays manageable when it's breezy, which is a pretty good reason to like it!

Even a short walk across a parking lot can be uncomfortable for me.

After problems with heat exhaustion while working near the southern border, and again when I was in Florida, I am much more careful about being out in the sun. Even a short walk across a parking lot can be uncomfortable for me. Having this umbrella overhead gives me shade on the way into the grocery store, mall or another building, and makes those little trips more pleasant. I still keep my time outside short, but I appreciate not being in direct sunshine the whole way. Friends have asked to borrow it for outdoor events or afternoons at the park with their children and grandchildren. It is a useful thing to have along without committing to carrying a big umbrella everywhere. Mine goes in my roomy purse, while I keep a larger umbrella in the car. I have recommended it to friends and family because it has made everyday outings easier for me, and I would happily get another!

Kiara Wang

After using it, I'm quite happy with that trade.

The weight was the one thing I wasn't sure about (it folds away, but it isn't one of those tiny umbrellas you forget you're carrying). After using it, I'm quite happy with that trade. My lighter umbrellas have me gripping on & worrying about the next gust when the rain gets going, which isn't much fun. This feels more substantial without being a huge thing to carry, and my shoulders actually stay dry instead of just the top of my head. I like the blue, too; a bit of colour makes a grey day less dreary. There's enough room underneath that I don't have to huddle down with the edge in front of my eyes, so I can watch for people coming towards me. The automatic opening is another small convenience when I'm already carrying things.Really like it!

Adrian Suarez

A very useful umbrella for living here.

In Florida, summer showers can turn up several times a day, so I appreciate how fast this opens. It stays in my bag and comes everywhere with me.I'd enjoy a little more coverage when it's up, but I'm happy to trade that for something that folds away. A very useful umbrella for living here.

When I unpacked this I couldn't believe how nice it was, the canopy feels substantial and the button brings it up so easily, I thought I'd just bought an ordinary umbrella but honestly it's right up there with the nicest ones I've had, absolutely a winner for me!!!!

Renee Cummings

For my granddaughter this has been a real treat.

For my granddaughter this has been a real treat. She's forever asking whether it's going to rain so she can take her umbrella out. Sunshine doesn't put her off either--she enjoys the shade just as much. She's four, so I help her put it away, but she's very proud carrying it herself. No need to wait for a wet day to enjoy it!So glad I picked this for her!

Dean Leblanc

Happy with this umbrella and hoping to use it for ages.

Smart looking umbrella, and the black is just what I had in mind. On first taking it out I wasn't sure how substantial it would be, since I'm cautious about folding umbrellas. The fabric looks nice and the whole thing packs away neatly. Wanted to reserve judgement until I'd handled it more otherwise.UPDATING TO 5 STARSHave now opened and folded it a few times and had a closer look at the frame. It feels much more solid than my first impression, and the canopy is neatly finished. Happy with this umbrella and hoping to use it for ages.

Roger Hodges

For daily commuting the size is spot on.

For daily commuting the size is spot on. Mine fits in my backpack's mesh bottle pocket (I could probably squeeze another beside it). It's cover for one rather than something huge to share, which suits me. I've used it around a dozen times now and the button action is still nice and smooth.

Dave Lane

Absolutely love it!

Louisiana weather means an umbrella is practically something you should never leave home without. Naturally I was always the one without a decent one. My little bargain umbrellas either got battered by the wind or somebody borrowed them and that was the last I saw of them. I'd mentioned to my mother that I'd like a GOOD umbrella, something pretty that didn't look like all the dull ones I'd been carrying. Then I completely forgot the conversation. So opening this on my birthday was such a lovely surprise! The blue is BEAUTIFUL, and I really like the shape and the loop handle. It feels much more substantial than my old ones without being a huge thing to lug about. I can't say how it'll do in a storm yet, but I'm actually looking forward to the rain forecast for this weekend... imagine that! And this one is staying with ME, not heading off with a borrower. Absolutely love it!

My daughter takes this Umbrella with her when she competes.

My daughter takes this Umbrella with her when she competes. We have had it out at three tournaments now, including a hilly course with some gusty weather. It has stayed in good shape and has kept her covered when needed. The size when folded makes it easier to bring along than a big golf umbrella. We have been pleased with the construction and it feels like something that will stand up to regular use.

Veronica Mora

Happy with how sturdy it feels, and she loves carrying it!

My granddaughter is in kindergarten and this umbrella has been a hit! She likes pressing the button, while I take care of shortening the shaft afterwards. The sleeve keeps it tidy in her school things once dry. Happy with how sturdy it feels, and she loves carrying it!

Peter Lester

The oval loop handle is comfortable enough.

At about 105cm across, this gives me useful room without being one of those enormous golf umbrellas...and I needed something that folds. It's roughly 40cm once packed, so not the tiniest option. The button operates the canopy both ways; I then press the telescoping stem shut. The oval loop handle is comfortable enough. The sleeve is fine for storing it, but getting it back on neatly takes more patience than I would like.

Kayla Mcdonald

This one suits that nicely.

I wanted a replacement I could take everywhere without putting up with something flimsy (aka folding inside out at the first breeze). This one suits that nicely. It has a sturdy feel rather than that loose, rattly feel some small umbrellas have. I've been happy with the frame and the button works well for opening and gathering the canopy back down.

Kelli Lyons

For me the extra coverage is worth it.

Opening this always gives me a little lift because I like how it looks. The button opening and canopy closing both work smoothly and there is a good amount of cover. I've had the tiny umbrellas that disappear into a small handbag, but with those I always feel a bit exposed and wonder what the next gust will do. This is heavier and takes up more room folded, so it depends what you want--the smallest thing to carry, or something that feels more substantial over your head. For me the extra coverage is worth it. I like the oval loop handle too (much less awkward to carry when it's shut)

Sheri Valentine

Nearly there for me.

Nearly there for me.The button gathers the canopy, but I still have to compress the telescoping shaft before using it again.Wish that last bit happened automatically too, though I know that's how it's designed.Otherwise a pretty umbrella and it feels properly put together.

Cassie Ayers

My 4yr.

My 4yr. old wants to carry this everywhere with her. It seems nicely put together and I like not having a little catch for her to fiddle with. She uses the button to open it and to bring the canopy down. The stem then needs pressing in by hand, which I help her with before putting it away. I think being able to work the button herself is a big part of why she likes it so much, rather than needing me for everything.

We've come back for a second lot of these as they have worked out very well for us at our used car lot here in oregon where rain is just part of the day and they handle the wind we've had too.look good and feel well made for the money so would recommend to anyone

Handy umbrella - mine was a prize.

Handy umbrella - mine was a prize. It took a little while to arrive. The material feels good. Quality is excellent, opens itself and folds the canopy with the button. The pole you shorten by hand. Strong, flexible spokes. Quite a solid thing in hand. Just need to learn making the folds tidy again, mine never looks as neat as when it arrived. Can recommend it!

Debra Hampton

Why change what works?

I'm getting another because I managed to lose mine -- and that was after six or seven years of carrying it. It wasn't worn out, just no longer where I thought I'd left it. After that much use I don't really feel the need to shop around -- it kept me dry and was easy to live with. Why change what works?

Lee Price

After 22 years my old golf umbrella had finally earned retirement.

After 22 years my old golf umbrella had finally earned retirement. This one feels like a decent replacement for the money. A smaller package to carry, although I had to get used to pushing the stem down after shutting the canopy with the button. It's not difficult once you know the routine, just different from my old one. Overall pleased with it and hoping for plenty of rounds together.

Evan Bradley

No complaints from me..

No complaints from me.. Really like this umbrella, it's done the job every time Ive needed it. Used it for a few rainy days now, some with a bit of wind too. The frame has some give to it rather than feeling like its fighting every little gust. Kept its shape fine and feels like it should last. The blue looks good as well, Im thinking of another in a different colour..

Jennifer Ortega

Yes, good decision!

Enough money wasted on flimsy umbrellas, I thought, time to choose something decent. I looked around a bit and decided on this one. Yes, good decision! It has a satisfying swish as it opens, and the frame feels solid when you're holding it. There's a bit of substance to it without making my hand ache or being a nuisance to carry. Looks smart as well. I'm glad I took the time to choose properly, and can see myself getting more for presents.

Terry Solomon

For me this is on the small side.

For me this is on the small side. My previous automatic umbrella gave me more coverage, which is really what I was hoping to get again. This one is easy enough to carry and doesn't feel heavy, although the shaft feels rather slender. I've taken it out once in a little wind and it did alright. Anything much stronger, I am not so sure. I wouldn't call the canopy particularly roomy just because it opens out from a compact bundle. For a light shower I think it is quite useful. In heavier rain, especially if you're outside walking for any length of time, I would want more cover than this gives. Your legs are still quite exposed and could get soaked. If size matters more to you than the carrying weight, I'd go for a larger umbrella. That was the tradeoff I preferred with my old one.

).

Phoenix heat is already going over 110 & I have very fair skin, so the sun is not my friend. I work Downtown & use the light rail, which is lovely in winter & miserable for me once spring & summer arrive. The walk to the station isn't even long, but I get there soaked in sweat (really!). Nearly $30 felt like a lot for an umbrella & I hesitated, but now I'm glad I spent it. Being underneath it feels noticeably cooler than being in the direct sun. It feels well put together, strong & not flimsy, so I expect to get good use from it. After roughly two weeks I already don't like the thought of making that walk without it.

Lauren Dyer

The gray umbrella folds down neatly and is simple to handle.

The gray umbrella folds down neatly and is simple to handle. It comes with a sleeve, which is handy for keeping it together in my bag. The handle is shorter than I am used to, so somebody with bigger hands might find that less comfortable, but it suits me and doesn't take up much room. Happy to recommend it.

Breanna Merritt

People notice this umbrella when I have it out.

People notice this umbrella when I have it out.It does the same useful job as any compact umbrella, but I enjoy the blue much more than a plain dull one. Nothing about it seems flimsy to me. One press opens it, another closes the canopy, and I push the shaft back in by hand. There is a carry sleeve as well.Just be ready to answer where it came from, because apparently even an umbrella gets people talking!
