Needed a replacement I could carry around easily, but didn't want a flimsy umbrella (aka one that gives up as soon as the wind starts). This has been just right! I've owned good folding umbrellas before and it has that same solid feel. Opening is quick, and another press brings the canopy down neatly. Nothing about it feels loose or delicate. Very pleased with it.

Lovely!!
The beige looks a little different to me in person than on the screen. The photo made it seem rather flat, but it is a lovely warm beige. Lovely!! My friend (the one I ordered one for) really likes it. Kept another for myself. These have a bigger canopy than you might think from seeing them folded. Two of us can stand close underneath and my backpack isn't hanging out in the rain, which was what annoyed me about my previous umbrella. It has coped with the breezes I've used it in. The button needed quite a firm press at first, but I find it easier now. Maybe I've got the knack? The canopy closes with that button, then the pole needs compressing by hand. Not tiny when put away. Longer and a bit fatter than my old one, though I think that's a fair trade for the cover. It goes into the bottle holder on my backpack without a struggle. The carry sleeve is included, and I still haven't really decided whether I'll bother using it!

A reassuringly solid umbrella.
A reassuringly solid umbrella. The gaps between buildings on my campus catch a lot of wind, so walking there can be a pain. Other umbrellas I've used would turn inside out, this one has coped well so far.Its a nice looking thing too and not just useful.Would happily recommend it for the price.

A useful size - enough shade for me sitting on the beach.
A useful size - enough shade for me sitting on the beach. Takes a little manoeuvring on narrow paths with trees hanging over them. I also use it when pushing the baby's carriage, though I have to position it carefully to share the cover. Holding both that and the carriage in wind isn't ideal, but it has been getting used a lot.

Two could squeeze under if they didn't mind getting friendly.
This is a really attractive umbrella and it spreads out much wider than I thought it would. I haven't had rain to try it in yet but I expect to stay dry, even if I do take up more pavement than I intended. Two could squeeze under if they didn't mind getting friendly.
Erica Snyder
Having some shade makes the hot walks feel much better.
I like carrying my new umbrella and everyone that see it seems to like it too. I work on a large university campus, so it goes everywhere with me. Having some shade makes the hot walks feel much better. Folds away neatly once I'm inside and is easy enough to carry.
Daniel Hebert
Decent shade for everyday use.
Decent shade for everyday use. It feels a bit light in the frame, so I wouldn't pick it for rough weather, but that wasn't my reason for buying it. I wanted an umbrella for keeping the sun off without carrying something enormous. Bought two, and one comes out with me pretty much daily.
Courtney Barnett
I leave a larger one in the car as well.
Having had heat exhaustion more than once while working along the southern border and later in Florida, I am very careful about being out in direct sunshine now. Even a short walk across a parking lot can be uncomfortable for me. This umbrella gives me a patch of shade between the car and the grocery store or mall, which makes those little errands easier. I still limit my time outside, but not having the sun beating straight onto my head is a real help. Friends have asked to borrow it for outdoor events and visits to the park with their children or grandchildren. It is handy being able to fold it up and keep it in my purse rather than carry a full length umbrella everywhere. I leave a larger one in the car as well. For my everyday use this has been a worthwhile purchase, and I have been recommending it to family and friends!

Happy with what I got, though "compact" needs a little explaining.
Happy with what I got, though "compact" needs a little explaining. yea, it folds, but I wouldn't call it tiny. It takes up a fair chunk of a small bag rather than disappearing into it. In return you get a decent sized canopy when you're actually using it, and the whole thing feels well made.
Cassidy Brennan
Has been very useful for that.
Only small surprise was the pink looking a shade deeper than it did on my screen. Still a very pretty colour. I use it mostly as a sunshade, since my skin is very fair and I burn easily. It gives me somewhere shady without constantly having that greasy sunscreen feeling. Fits in my bag well enough that I can bring it along instead of deciding in advance whether I'll need it. Has been very useful for that.
Maureen Lara
Worth giving it a chance.
I wasn't sure how much of the praise to believe... but after using it I am won over! There is a little getting used to with the closing. Pressing the button gathers the canopy, but you still push the stem in yourself before the next opening. I find that easier if I have both hands free, with is not always the case getting on the bus. Once I understood that it was straightforward. It covers me well and feels reassuring going around corners in old Montreal, where the wind can suddenly catch you. Not saying I go looking for bad weather, just that I don't worry about the umbrella so much now. Worth giving it a chance.
Darlene Robertson
Good price and a satisfying purchase.
Good price and a satisfying purchase. It has a bit more heft than other compact umbrellas I've used, though not too much to carry. The frame looks substantial and gives a sturdy impression. It doesn't fold into the prettiest bundle, which is my small criticism. Opened up, the size is generous for me. Happy to recommend it.
Corey Mahoney
A useful umbrella overall.
A useful umbrella overall. The push button opening is probably my favourite part - press it and you're ready without wrestling with the frame. Coverage is good for one, although I wouldn't mind a little extra width. I've also found it handy for shade when the sun is out. The construction seems sound, and for a compact it's a sensible buy.
Scott Gentry
Excellent umbrella.
Excellent umbrella. Would happily have another. Frame feels sturdy and gives plenty of cover. Handle button springs it open. Press again and the canopy shuts. Then compress the pole manually to finish packing it away. Beige is a nice neutral colour. That last push needs a bit of strength though, something to consider if your hands are painful or weak.
Leon Adkins
A sensible size for him, feels sturdy and isn't too heavy.
My husband needed another umbrella after his old one disappeared at a meeting. He'd left it there and it wasn't there when he went back. He's been pleased with this replacement. A sensible size for him, feels sturdy and isn't too heavy. (I use a bigger umbrella when we're sharing, rather than trying to squeeze under his.) His only little gripe is that the oval handle feels slightly small in his hand, but he likes the umbrella overall.
Erik Rojas
He's stationed in Cuba, where he gets far more rain than we have.
There is a bit of weight to it when it's in my bag or I'm holding it up. On the other hand the frame feels strong, and it folds down well while still giving a decent area of cover. I like the plain black, it looks smart rather than fussy. We didn't get much rain this winter so it hasn't been out that often yet. I can see myself buying a replacement for me if my boyfriend decides to take this one when he visits. He's stationed in Cuba, where he gets far more rain than we have.

For wet days with some wind this has been verry good.
For wet days with some wind this has been verry good. The frame feels well put together and the flexable ribs give a bit rather then fighting every gust. It opens up nicely and theres a decent amount of canopy over you for something that folds down.I have had cheeper umbrellas that felt flimsy as soon as the wind picked up, this one feels alot more secure in my hand. Far happier with it then the ones I had before.
Sheri Roy
Good sturdy construction.
After a month or so of use, I've had nothing to complain about. Opens as it should. Good sturdy construction. It's dealt with the odd gust without giving me trouble. Would happily buy another one. Feels a definite step up from the inexpensive umbrellas I normally pick up with the groceries.

This has become one of my daughter's favorite things!
This has become one of my daughter's favorite things! It's adorable and probably her favorite beige thing (she has plenty!). She keeps announcing that rain is coming so she has an excuse to take it out. At four she likes holding it herself, though I help with packing it away. It's a proper sized umbrella rather than a tiny toy, and she has had lovely comments on it. A very cute choice :)
Tara Neal
Please note that compact does NOT mean tiny.
Packing for a walk means thinking about what will actually fit in the bag, not just how much cover an umbrella gives when open. This one is a sensible compromise, folding down to a manageable length while still giving proper shelter from ordinary rain. Please note that compact does NOT mean tiny. There is some weight to the frame and the loop handle takes up room, so I would check the available space rather than assume it will fit every small bag. For my purposes that feels reasonable, since the construction is reassuring rather than flimsy. It is useful for those days when you carry an umbrella all day and only need it briefly. Recommended for walkers and backpackers.
Martin Hamilton
The ribs feel solid and it looks like it will give good shade.
The reviews made me hesitate a bit, but after seeing it I liked it enough to buy a few more. Heavy things are difficult for me, so the weight matters (light enough for me, not a feather). The ribs feel solid and it looks like it will give good shade. Rain should be fine too, although I haven't actually taken it out yet haha.
Mike Patel
Sooo pleased with this umbrella!
Sooo pleased with this umbrella! i haven't used it in rain yet, but sitting in the shade under it has been great. a little more weight than the tiny ones, not as much as a full size one. pressing the button opens it or closes the fabric, then you push the shaft back down yourself. makes quite a snap too, my cat wants nothing to do with it.
Warren Mclean
I'd still like an umbrella that remembers where I left it.
Occasionally I come across something and think, well, that should have been obvious years ago. Suitcases on wheels are my usual example. (We had wheels for quite a while before anyone put them there, didn't we?) An umbrella that goes up with a press and draws its canopy back in with another gives me that same feeling. Such a small thing, but MUCH nicer than fiddling about with a catch while getting rained on. You do have to compress the telescoping pole afterwards, so it hasn't quite done every bit of the work for you.The folding size is the other sensible part. Proper cover when it's up, something I can put in a bag when it's down. The blue looks smart too, and people have commented on it. I've ended up buying three because I keep misplacing them, not because they've worn out. Each has felt solid, opened reliably and been straightforward to put away, which makes me think the construction is consistent.I'd still like an umbrella that remembers where I left it. Until somebody solves that particular problem, I'm content with this one.
Jeremiah Crawford
The umbrella feels well made and I'm expecting it to be useful.
The umbrella feels well made and I'm expecting it to be useful. I bought it for my trip to Asia, mainly to give me some shade rather than for wet weather. It has a bit more weight than I'd hoped for carrying it all day, but that is my only hesitation. Everything else about it seems spot on!
Kent Harmon
I'm glad I got another of these umbrellas.
I'm glad I got another of these umbrellas. My old one had a rough time (I suspect my daughter wasn't very gentle with it, rather than a quality problem). I really missed having one I liked this much. The nice comments have started again, and somehow taking it out makes a rainy day feel a bit brighter.
Cole Hobbs
My old golf umbrella went missing, so I needed another umbrella.
My old golf umbrella went missing, so I needed another umbrella. This folding one has been an excellent replacement. I can walk comfortably beneath it, and someone can tuck in close for a little cover if needed. It isn't an enormous golf canopy, but I like having a useful open size that folds down afterwards. The whole thing seems sturdy and well constructed.
Danny Curry
That wasn't what happened and I was happy to have the shade.
Hard to tell the size just from a picture but it opens out to a decent amount of cover. First time I tried it was after a thunderstorm in that hot sticky weather, the rain hadn't done much about the humidity. I hadn't used an umbrella like this and was half expecting to feel more steamy underneath. That wasn't what happened and I was happy to have the shade. It's a nice size for me, with the two kids tucking in close if they need to. Also has its own sleeve so it isn't loose with everything else when put away.
Bridget Washington
It slips into my larger purse and gives me good cover in the rain.
If a rainy day needs a little cheering up, this is a nice umbrella to have. The beige is much prettier in person than I expected, a soft shade rather than a dull one. I wanted a replacement for my old umbrella and I'm glad I chose this. It slips into my larger purse and gives me good cover in the rain. A little heavier than I'd hoped, but not enough to leave it behind.
Frances Lutz
A really good everyday umbrella.
A really good everyday umbrella. The price seems fair, the button makes getting it open quick, and it doesn't have that flimsy feel I've had with cheap ones. Bringing the canopy down is just another button press, then I shorten the shaft by hand. So far it's handled a bit of wind without turning over. My one niggle is the folded length in my medium sized purse; it takes some arranging to get it in there, but I suppose you can't have everything!
Ricardo Lutz
An excellent choice for this purpose and something I would recommend.
We purchased four of these to have available for guests needing to reach a cab in the rain. The construction and finish are very good, and the oval handle gives a secure grip when holding the umbrella over someone who is also managing luggage. They open to a useful size without being awkward to store afterwards. An excellent choice for this purpose and something I would recommend.
Angelica Valentine
So far that is what this seems to be.
I was a little doubtful after reading comments about umbrellas being difficult to open. Went ahead and tried this one anyway, and i am glad i did. I don't know if people were talking about the same thing, but pressing the button on this is easy. I'm a skinny guy, not somebody with a lot of strength, and opening it hasn't been an issue. I used it on a cold rainy day walking across campus with my laptop case as well. There was a breeze and it stayed steady, and both me and the case got where we were going dry. All i wanted was an umbrella that felt durable and wasn't a pain to use. So far that is what this seems to be. Look after it and I reckon it should serve you well!
Karen Valencia
A useful present that went down very well.
I chose this as a gift for my boyfriend's mother, who gets some very damp, foggy walks where she lives. The green is cheerful without being too much. She says it feels sturdy but isn't heavy to carry, and opens to a nice size for her walks with her husband. A useful present that went down very well.

I've been wanting an umbrella I could get along with.
I've been wanting an umbrella I could get along with. I'm short and live in rainy Seattle, so hiding too far under one means I can't see people until they're right in front of me. This gives me enough cover with the edge kept above my view. I have to pay attention to how I hold it, of course. Now if only the rain would give us a break and let summer arrive. It's not the tiniest thing when folded, but I can manage that.
Stephanie Wise
For the money this is a good choice.
Overall: A practical umbrella for leaving in the car and bringing along when traveling. It gives more coverage than the folded size would suggest, stores neatly, and has worked consistently for me. There are compromises compared with a larger umbrella, mainly how carefully I hold it in gusts and the effort involved in packing it away.
For the money this is a good choice. Looking at it closed, I wasn't expecting quite such a generous canopy. The button operation is convenient, especially getting out of the car, though automatic doesn't mean that every part of putting it away is done for you.
Mine stays beside the driver's seat and has ended up being the umbrella I reach for most often. For ordinary rain I haven't felt particularly short of cover. If storage space wasn't an issue, I would still choose a full-length umbrella for a longer walk in windy weather. A folding design has more joints and moving sections, and I find myself paying more attention to which way I am holding it when the wind picks up. That's a trade-off for being able to tuck it away so easily, rather than something that has stopped me using it.
The other consideration is closing. Pressing the button brings the canopy in, but the telescoping section still needs a firm push to shorten it again. That is the normal reset, not the button failing. It is less effortless than the opening action makes you expect, particularly when you're trying to get settled in the car.
Despite those reservations, the useful coverage and manageable folded size make it worth keeping close by. Not quite a replacement for every larger umbrella, but a sensible everyday option.
Bruce Mueller
Gives an impression of good quality and was packed neatly.
Gives an impression of good quality and was packed neatly. I haven't had the chance to try it in wind, so can't recommend it on that basis yet. The handle feels quite substantial and a little heavy to me. For that reason I would hesitate to choose it for a child.
Helen Best
Good construction
Good construction; the oval handle sits nicely in my hand, and the opening action feels positive; glad a sleeve is included! After quite a lot of use it's still one I enjoy taking out...the children do seem to think it should be a sword, though, which isn't really what I had in mind!
Luis Petty
These have become my go-to umbrellas.
These have become my go-to umbrellas. They feel far more substantial than the little ones I've had before, and have coped well with wind so far. The oval grip feels secure and the button action hasn't let me down. Folded up, one fits in my rather small backpack or my messenger bag without being a nuisance. I keep a few around because leaving umbrellas behind is apparently a habit I can't shake.
Tracy Blake
This umbrella has been out with me all summer, mainly for shade.
This umbrella has been out with me all summer, mainly for shade. Morning walks of about an hour are much more pleasant with the canopy between my face and the sunshine. I've taken it on docent led outings too, and people have asked where I found it.The things I'd change are the weight, which I notice after a while, and the extra step when putting it away. Pressing the button collapses the canopy, but I still have to compress the telescoping stem before it will open again. That is how it works, just not as effortless as I first imagined.
Amber Cain
So not heavy use.
Bought this about two years ago, probably only carried it five times. So not heavy use. -- I do like it though. In a city or a crowd I don't want something enormous, this size gives me cover without taking over the pavement. I hold it a little higher so I can see ahead,as the pink canopy isn't see through.--- The automatic opening is so convenient, looks nice too. My main hesitation is the price, for something that spends most of its time put away it feels a bit much. I think at a lower price more people would try it.I like being able to fold it and put it in the sleeve rather than carry a long wet umbrella around. Nothing wrong with how it works, just wish it cost less. Would probably choose it again, but I'd find that decision easier if the price came down a little.

Won this umbrella watering a tree and I'm very happy with it!
Won this umbrella watering a tree and I'm very happy with it!)) Quality feels very good, with more room than my old one, about 105 cm across when open. The automatic opening is convenient and the ribs feel strong. It comes with a sleeve too, useful for putting it away. Delivery took around ten days, maybe less. The outside packaging had taken a knock, so I was glad of the cardboard box protecting it. Happy to recommend!

He's 24 and very particular about the quality of things he uses.
Living in a rainy area, I picked this up as a Christmas gift for my fiance. He's 24 and very particular about the quality of things he uses. This one has his approval and goes everywhere with him now. The frame feels substantial and we've had no trouble with it. He's tall, and likes that it doesn't feel like he's carrying a giant umbrella down the sidewalk. It covers him without being so bulky when people pass. That alone says a lot coming from him.
Kristopher Schneider
Love bringing this umbrella out when those Florida showers start!
Love bringing this umbrella out when those Florida showers start! Feels sturdy, and there's good coverage for something I can actually carry around. My wife or son borrows it too for those quick downpours!! LOL...I never thought I'd have this much to say about an umbrella, but here we are.
Gregg Clarke
Feels properly solid.
Feels properly solid. The cheap one's I used before moving were fine in a calmer place, but the wind here is another thing. This umbrella has a better feel in the hand and has been good up to now. Still waiting for the next proper windy storm before I can say much more...last bad one had trees coming down and everything. I'll come back and add how it does if we get that again, in case anyone is wondering. For now I am pleased with it, certainly feels much stronger than the ones I had....
Lance Huynh
The green is a nice fresh shade too.
Had a chance to try this for shade when the sun came out on a breezy day. For a folding umbrella it gives a decent patch of cover. Two of us could share sitting close, although it's really best for one person with room to spare. The frame has some flex to it, and it didn't turn inside out while we were using it. I could hold it comfortably without feeling like I was fighting the breeze the whole time. The green is a nice fresh shade too.A good looking umbrella that is useful for more than rain.
Chase Henson
I love the neat shape and how it looks opened up.
I wanted an umbrella that looked nice as well as keeping me dry, and this one suits me perfectly. I love the neat shape and how it looks opened up. There's enough coverage around my shoulders, and held at the right height I can still see where I'm walking without the edge getting in my way.
April Woods
The part I really appreciate though is the coverage.
What interested me first was the flexible rib frame. The part I really appreciate though is the coverage. I'm in a wheel chair and can hold this over myself without having a long umbrella poking out behind me. It gives me shelter over my lap as well, which makes a difference when its raining. Folds down into a sensible shape to put away afterwards. Black is plain but suits me fine. For the way I use it, this is an excellent umbrella and well worth what I paid.
Kaitlin Lane
No rainy outing yet!
Cream white is a favourite of mine, so the look won me over straight away. No rainy outing yet!Opened up indoors it gives much more cover than I expected, and the frame looks fairly solid.Warning: I noticed a little pale dust near the centre when unpacking, perhaps from the packaging, but it brushed off easily.
Sabrina Andrews
The push button is the best bit of this umbrella.
The push button is the best bit of this umbrella. I initially thought it would pull the WHOLE thing back to its smallest size, not just fold the canopy. You do have to compress the telescoping shaft yourself afterwards. That's fine, though, because the awkward part for me is always shutting an umbrella while climbing into the car or getting through a door. One press gets the canopy out of the way and I can finish shortening it once I'm inside and dry. No standing outside wrestling with the fabric while the rain comes down. Much easier than my old routine. I love how convenient it is!
Isaiah Carroll
A lovely looking umbrella.
A lovely looking umbrella. Blue on top with black underneath, which I hadn't really pictured, but it still looks nice and suits a boy just as well. Feels solid (rather more umbrella than a little toddler needs, really). My small 3 year old finds the loop handle too much to manage and wants to hold further up. Not a toddler-sized umbrella, although I'm very happy with it for normal use.
Cheyenne Lambert
Used this for most of a year and have been pleased overall.
Used this for most of a year and have been pleased overall. I often carry my child on my back, and it has enough width to shelter us together if I keep it positioned right! That was the main reason I wanted something bigger than the tiny folding one I had. In really heavy rain I still get wet around the sides, particularly when the wind drives it sideways. Not a mystery, just the limit of how much an umbrella can cover. For everyday rain it has been very useful and I still reach for it. My child has not been especially gentle with it either, but it is still working properly. I take a little care putting it away instead of just forcing everything together. Would recommend it, with the understanding that it will not keep every bit of you dry in a downpour. For the amount of use it gets, I'm satisfied.
