My gf needed an umbrella so I picked this one.

My gf needed an umbrella so I picked this one. It felt slightly powdery at first (maybe to keep the fabric from sticking), but she wasn't bothered. She likes the pink and there's enough room for her underneath (I don't really use umbrellas). Everything has worked fine so far. Someone at work has one as well and seems happy with theirs. I'd recommend it if you look after your stuff.

Strange as it sounds, this is the first umbrella I've owned.

Strange as it sounds, this is the first umbrella I've owned.Never needed one much here in California. It seems nicely put together and opens to about 105cm across, which is enough for me.The 30 ribs have some flexibility and the button makes putting it up simple.Good value in my opinion and I'd be willing to buy it again.I'm enjoying it so far.

Looks smart and the frame seems solid, though the weight (about 390g) is noticeable to me as a petite woman. One thing I hadn't allowed for was the pressure needed to push the shaft back down. (The canopy shuts with the button though)I can manage it, but someone with arthritis or less strength in their hands might find that part awkward.

It really is a beautiful umbrella.

It really is a beautiful umbrella. I chose it for my little granddaughter and expect she'll be delighted. A little heavy for her to manage outside by herself, though. I'll hold it when we use it in rain. It would also look lovely as a decoration in herbedroom.

I've had some nice comments about it already.

I live in Florida and have the sort of pale skin that makes me look for shade whenever possible. Sunscreen has its place, but I don't enjoy the sticky business of applying it, so carrying an umbrella for shade seemed worth a go. I'm quite delighted with how that has worked out! The gray is a quiet, attractive colour, rather than anything particularly showy. I also like the plain black underneath; it makes the whole thing look nicely finished. The oval loop handle looked a little unusual to me at first, but it's comfortable enough in my hand. The umbrella seems sturdy, and working out the button was really the only learning part. It opens up with a press, and another press folds the canopy, though you still push the shaft down yourself. Once I understood that, putting it away was straightforward. The little sleeve is neat, and getting the umbrella back inside hasn't been the battle I sometimes have with these things. All in all, it suits me beautifully. Taking an umbrella along for sunshine feels faintly old-fashioned, which is actually part of the appeal for me! I've had some nice comments about it already. I could certainly see myself getting another colour from the same range.

My favourite umbrella so far....

My favourite umbrella so far....should have ordered another! It covers me without feeling like I'm carrying something enormous down the pavement.Easy to hold up where I can see ahead, even when other people have umbrellas too.Wish I'd come across it sooner!Love mine!

What a nice umbrella!

Rain was pouring down when this arrived today, so I got to try it straight away. What a nice umbrella! There was some wind too and it felt steady in my hand. The button opening is great and being able to shut the canopy with it is even better. I wasn't expecting it to feel quite this solid. It gives me enough cover without being enormous, which is exactly the size I wanted. Definitely feels worth what I paid!

Much cooler underneath, wonderful.

This comes out with me at work each day when I need a break from the sun. Much cooler underneath, wonderful. One thing though... don't hold it way above your head in a breeze. There is quite a lot of canopy to catch the air and you can feel it pull. I keep it a little lower and it is fine.

Patricia Bell

I do the final push to shorten the shaft before it goes away.

My daughter has become very attached to this umbrella, and likes being the one to carry it when the rain starts. It isn't a tiny child's model, but she can hold the loop handle comfortably and I stay close while she uses it. The oval loop also gives her a way to hang it up in her room, which she seems to enjoy almost as much as taking it outside! The black colour is simple rather than a cartoon, but that hasn't made it any less interesting to her. We've used it for actual rainy walks (and, by used it, I also mean opening it indoors whenever she gets the chance) and it has stayed in good shape. The button makes opening and bringing the canopy down straightforward. I do the final push to shorten the shaft before it goes away. So far it has been a sturdy umbrella that she's happy to use and I'm happy to carry along.

Otherwise it would get the extra star.

Plenty of cover for one person, and I've stayed dry through several proper downpours. I hadn't paid much attention to the handle in the pictures, but the oval loop is quite a nice touch in person. The trouble for me is the amount of room to grip it. My hands are a little bigger than average and it feels cramped rather than comfortably full-sized. I can use it fine, just wish there was a bit more to hold. Otherwise it would get the extra star.

Good coverage, solid feel, and it looks smart.

Nearly a year of use and I still like this umbrella. Good coverage, solid feel, and it looks smart. My one reservation is packing it away: the button shuts the canopy, but I still need to push the shaft back down myself. Nothing wrong with it, just less of a one-handed process than I imagined. Particularly when I'm trying to get everything folded neatly before putting it away!

I'm hoping for 10 - 15 years from this.

Another lovely Haven umbrella - opens smoothly and feels right in the hand. Paying a few dollars extra seems worthwhile against the cheaper ones that barely survive a season. I'm hoping for 10 - 15 years from this. I've owned Haven umbrellas before, and the quality really does feel a notch higher.

Happy with this umbrella, it does what I need.

Happy with this umbrella, it does what I need. I can put it in my purse or the car door compartment without giving up the coverage I want in the rain. It folds together neatly for putting it away. Best part for me is pressing a button to open it. Getting out of the car with keys and a purse already in my hands is enough to juggle, so not having to open an umbrella manually helps a lot. The beige is a lovely soft shade in person. It looks a bit different from the product picture on my screen. From the way it feels, I'm expecting to get a good long time out of it.

This umbrella has a thoughtful design, a smart black finish, and a reassuringly solid feel. It costs more than a basic umbrella, but the construction makes that understandable. The canopy offers ample shelter from the rain, while the button operation and comfortable loop handle make it straightforward to use.

Gordon Kramer

I'd choose this umbrella again.

Fits in my bag without being a nuisance, although it isn't one of those tiny pocket ones. Once opened there's a normal amount of cover; for the price I thought it might be smaller. The fabric feels substantial and gives me comfortable shade from the sun. I'd choose this umbrella again.

Carried this walking down the isle for our September garden wedding.

Carried this walking down the isle for our September garden wedding. Just right for the vintage look we wanted. I hadn't planned it, but left it on the ground beside the alter and it turned out lovely in the photos. Elegant without being the usual thing. Took more pictures with it after too. Nicely made. Would suggest it.

I haven't tested it in much wind, so I can't speak for that.

Umbrellas aren't something I normally bother with, but I packed this for our vacation. It's comfortable to carry by the handle, and my wife can fit it in her larger purse when folded. Opened out, there is a useful amount of cover. I haven't tested it in much wind, so I can't speak for that. It isn't the tiniest folding umbrella, but it's convenient enough that we actually take it with us, which is more important to me than having one left behind.

Caleb Liu

Somewhere less exposed it was great.

I genuinely hadn't expected to get this attached to an umbrella. The little folding one I had before was a lot lighter and I was fond of it, but there just wasn't enough of it when the rain came at you sideways in the city. Somewhere less exposed it was great. This feels like a different proposition. Part of my daily walk is through one of those stretches where the wind seems to arrive from every direction. You see people give up, shut their umbrellas and just accept being soaked. I get a slightly uncharitable amount of pleasure from carrying on past the abandoned, mangled umbrellas with mine still doing its job. Not my finest personality trait, admittedly. A couple of things I'd point out if you're moving from a very small folding umbrella:1) The button action is brilliant around cars. Rather than standing beside the door trying to gather everything up while it rains down your neck, you can get yourself seated and press the button to bring the canopy in. The shaft then needs pushing back down by hand, but that's easily done once you're inside. Such a small thing, such a difference.2) There is more weight to carry here than with my old little umbrella. Worth thinking about what you actually need, rather than assuming bigger is automatically better. If you're only covering yourself for a short dash, a smaller one might be plenty. For me the extra coverage is the point. I want to arrive with my suit reasonably dry, and have room for my girlfriend alongside me rather than both of us getting one wet shoulder. Very pleased with this one.

I've had this umbrella a while now and it has made me so happy!

I've had this umbrella a while now and it has made me so happy! We get plenty of rainy days and it has been dependable every time! Ended up getting my sister one too!! The blue looks lovely, and I can hold it high enough to see where I'm going without getting my shoulders wet. Absolutely delighted with it!

Frederick Jensen

I'd recommend it to anyone.

I don't see why an umbrella needs a men's or women's label. I'm a man and picked this one after going through the reviews, more concerned about how it was made than how it might look. So far it has worked exactly as I hoped, feels well put together, and gives me no reason to worry. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Joel Shea

Bought it to have some shade at music festivals over summer.

Bought it to have some shade at music festivals over summer. Looks really cute and I didn't spend so much that I'll panic if it gets knocked about. I'm not expecting some luxury piece for the money, but for standing out in the sunshine it suits me perfectly. Cute and useful!

An umbrella as a conversation starter, why not.

An umbrella as a conversation starter, why not. if you like your classmates asking about little things, the loop handle gives them something to ask about. It's a closed oval, not the usual hook...so...there is your topic. i think the weight is much like an ordinary umbrella, and opened up its bigger than you expect from the folded thing. Plenty of room to stay out of the rain. No dramatic entrance needed, just press the button and there you are! =D

The blue is understated, which I like.

I'd owned this same umbrella before and used it a lot, with people often commenting on it! I caught the old one while hurrying through a subway turnstile, so needing another was my own doing, not how the umbrella performed. It is compact put away but gives me good cover when opened and has coped nicely with wind. The blue is understated, which I like. There is a little more weight than with some small umbrellas, but it feels reassuringly solid rather than flimsy. Glad to have the same one again, recommended

Krista Howard

Feels sturdy so far.

Looks pretty. Feels sturdy so far. The pink is noticeable without being over the top, and I'm hoping that helps it stay mine when I put it in a restaurant umbrella stand. Too many of my plain umbrellas have wandered off over the years. It's not the smallest folded one I've had, but I can spot it easily. Would get another.

Ian Huber

Has a solid feel to it.

Has a solid feel to it. I walk across campus between buildings and the wind can funnel through those gaps. Other umbrellas I've had have turned inside out there, but this has handled my walks well up to now.It looks smart too, not just practical.I'd recommend it to someone wanting a decent umbrella without spending a lot.

Jerome Lamb

This was a good match.

For my mom, who only had two requirements. 1 - something she could carry in her larger purse. 2 - black, but not boring. This was a good match. The shape of the handle gives it a little character and it works beautifully!! She keeps telling me how much she likes it! Not the cheapest option, but the finish makes the price feel fair!

Darrell Bradford

No point in a pretty umbrella if nobody wants to carry it, right?

In the Caribbean an umbrella gets plenty of use, and after years of carrying them I know what I like!!! This one feels sturdy, opens promptly and gives me good cover in our everyday rain. Def something I'd tell people to try!UPDATE!I got two recently, one for me and one for my mother, and I'm even happier with that decision now! No point in a pretty umbrella if nobody wants to carry it, right? We actually use these! They look lovely and the whole thing feels properly put together. My old umbrella has been around for ten years, so yes, I have a fairly high standard! BTW - that old one can stay as backup now. These new ones are getting the use and I would recommend them AGAIN!

Edward Andrade

At last an umbrella that I don't mind taking out with me.

At last an umbrella that I don't mind taking out with me. The quality feels good, and I much prefer how it looks to the collection my husband leaves around the house. I used to leave those behind rather than carry one, which was silly when it rained. Now I reach for mine.**Update** After months of use I wanted to add that it's still going strong. This is the one I take whenever rain looks likely, not something that sits untouched in a cupboard. It spends a lot of time in the car, and with two kids it gets moved from the front seat to the back and sometimes into the trunk. It has not had a particularly gentle life. It certainly isn't spotless now, but opening and closing it feels just as good as at the start. I'd recommend it more confidently now than when I first bought it.

Sarah Krause

Money well spent and one I'm happy to keep using!

At first I wondered about paying this much for an umbrella, but using it has answered that. Florida rain has a way of arriving all at once, and being able to get the canopy up with a button is a real help. The button also closes the canopy when I'm getting back indoors; I push the shaft down afterwards. I've carried it almost daily for two months now and everything still works smoothly. The frame feels substantial and it has stayed in shape through the gusty rain I've been caught in. I can't speak for every storm, but so far it has spared me the usual wrestling match with an umbrella. Money well spent and one I'm happy to keep using!

Kimberly Stark

The fabric feels sturdy

A smart-looking umbrella that makes the prospect of rain a little less depressing! I've accumulated plenty of folding umbrellas, but wanted one that felt a bit more substantial for a change. I had another style in mind... but ended up choosing this blue one and am very happy with it. The fabric feels sturdy; the carry sleeve is useful for keeping it tidy, and altogether I think it's a very decent amount of umbrella for the money.

Mariah Silva

Above that it kept me dry, and it feels like a very solid umbrella.

Only taken it out three times, so long term durability is still an unknown for me. One of those days was properly wet and windy, and the umbrella coped very well. I'm tall, so some rain still caught my lower legs when it came sideways. Above that it kept me dry, and it feels like a very solid umbrella.

Roy Robinson

An umbrella with staying power.

An umbrella with staying power. I've had mine for years and it is still looking remarkably good, despite my being rather clumsy with it. Opened out, it covers me (not a small person) and the bag at my side without much fuss. Looks handsome folded, too. Friends have admired it often enough that I keep an eye on where I leave it when they're around! I'd certainly recommend it.

Bianca Briggs

The opening button is handy when I need it quickly.

I had got it into my head that a serious umbrella had to be a big, awkward thing to carry. Something substantial, otherwise why bother? When I unpacked this one I was more interested in how it felt than the button, and it feels reassuringly put together. (Not something I want to treat roughly just to prove a point....). But a solid feel isn't the whole story. It still needs to cover a business suit, not merely the top of your head. I've used compact umbrellas before and liked the convenience, but wasn't convinced I would get that convenience AND enough coverage here. Having used this one, I'd say that's where it earns its keep. My shoulders aren't sticking out beyond the edge in ordinary rain, and I don't feel as though I'm carrying a full-size walking umbrella around afterwards. No, I don't expect it to survive every imaginable bit of bad weather. And no, being pleased with it doesn't mean I'll never have to replace it. What matters to me is that it feels worth carrying and does the everyday job properly. It slips into my computer bag when folded, yet there's a surprisingly generous amount above me once it's up. The opening button is handy when I need it quickly. Pressing it again gathers the canopy, then I shorten the shaft by hand. Straightforward, once you've done it. For my purposes, that's a sensible balance of useful cover and manageable size. I'd buy it again.

Dana Archer

A light tap with my thumb doesn't quite do it.

About five months of using it most weeks and everything still feels solid. The frame seems strong and I expect to keep using it for a good while. Only reason for four stars is the opening button needs a firm press. A light tap with my thumb doesn't quite do it.

Eileen Caldwell

They would have looked lovely in the photographs too!

Ordered black umbrellas for our wedding party with rain in the forecast. Thankfully we never needed them, but they were just what i had been looking for. Opened them to have a look and there's a good amount of cover. They would have looked lovely in the photographs too!

Clifford Nicholson

There will be other rainy days for it.

We wanted a backup for my daughter's wedding because the girls were determined to have their photographs outside. This pink was just right with the bridesmaids' dresses. As it happened we had a beautiful day and the umbrella stayed put, which I was very thankful for. Still glad I ordered it, even though it wasn't needed on the day. There will be other rainy days for it.Mother of the bride

Gregory Wilkerson

A really good umbrella, this one.

A really good umbrella, this one. We live near a river and the wind coming off it can make wet days awkward. It has coped well with the rain and breezes here. Being able to shut the canopy with one press is a big help when I'm carrying things into a store or getting in the car. No need to struggle with it at the doorway!

Sheryl Woods

Otherwise, happy with it.

The pink is stronger than I expected from the picture, which showed it looking much paler. Otherwise, happy with it. I needed shade at my bus stop in downtown Minneapolis after our only tree was removed for a ramp. I'm fair skinned and it gets hot just standing there. With this up I feel noticeably cooler. One man gave me a look and said "there isn't any rain, you know". I told him "yes, but you're the one getting all sweaty". Enough said.

Barry Newton

Excellent umbrella for the money.

Excellent umbrella for the money. Rain in Brooklyn tends to come with wind, and I've had enough flimsy umbrellas to appreciate this one. It feels sturdy, hasn't flipped on me and actually gives decent cover. Being able to open it with one button is a nice extra when heading outside. DEF happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

Katherine Ferguson

It is fairly compact and easy to carry, though it still looks sturdy.

It is fairly compact and easy to carry, though it still looks sturdy. This replaced the umbrella I was using before. There was a faint smell when unpacked, but a day left out in the air got rid of it. I bought one for each of my children's school bags. I am happy with them.

Courtney Bonilla

I love all the little details on this umbrella...

I love all the little details on this umbrella... the oval loop handle, the neat way it folds away, the black underneath and - best of all - that lovely beige canopy. It's such a calm, pretty colour to have over your head when everything outside is grey. Funny, though, we've had mostly sunshine since it arrived, so I haven't had much chance to show it off in the rain. I've tried the button a few times just because it's satisfying. Now I'm actually hoping for a wet day so I can take it out properly!

Jaclyn Rich

Really pleased with it.

I've been using one of these for about two years. The sleeve is useful when putting it away and I take it for shade as much as for rain. It has been on several flights with me, tucked under the seat or beside the wall when I have a window seat. I even carried it by the ocean in Hawaii. My wife thought I looked a bit silly at first and kept her distance, until the sunshine got too much and she decided sharing my shade was a good idea. I've held it while sitting under a pool umbrella too, when the sun was sneaking in underneath. It feels sturdy and has been fine in a moderate breeze. Really pleased with it. Sadly it stayed behind in an airport gift shop on our last trip, so I'm replacing it.

Breanna Carter

We LOVE ours.

We LOVE ours. Plenty of cover for me, and we can huddle together under it too. The button that folds the canopy is especially handy getting into the car; I sit down while still sheltered, press it, then pull the folded canopy inside. The shaft gets pushed down by hand afterwards. EASY. My dad liked the one I gave my mom and immediately wanted one for Christmas. My sister has one from me now as well. Buying online was much simpler than trying to find one locally.

Destiny Brennan

I still wouldn't judge its storm performance by looking at it, though.

The folding Haven umbrella is light enough for me to carry regularly and has given me decent cover in the rain. The button gets the canopy up quickly, which saves the usual fiddling about. The thirty flexible ribs are interesting, and the frame feels fairly substantial for something that folds up. I still wouldn't judge its storm performance by looking at it, though. There are moving parts to any folding umbrella and I'll be interested to see how everything wears over time. I've only had the chance to use this one in fairly light showers so far, where it's kept me dry without any trouble. That isn't much of a test for rough weather, so I don't want to pretend I've put it through more than I have. I'll add something here if a storm gives me reason to change my opinion. In the meantime, the size and straightforward operation make it one I'm happy to take along when travelling.

Kelly Butler

On the other hand it feels considerably more substantial.

I'm not sure whose handbag this is supposed to disappear into, but it won't go in any of mine! Folded up it's still quite chunky compared with my usual little travel umbrella. On the other hand it feels considerably more substantial. I haven't tried it in a really nasty gust yet, so no grand claims, but I'm hopeful it will cope better with summer rain.

Alex Abbott

Handy to take along.

It goes in my bag comfortably, without being one of those tiny umbrellas that barely cover you. Opened up, the canopy is a useful everyday size; I expected less room for the price. The material has a nice thickness and gives pleasant shade from the sun. Handy to take along. I would happily buy it again.

Leah Murillo

For what I paid, I've been very happy with this handy umbrella.

For what I paid, I've been very happy with this handy umbrella. It feels lighter in the hand than something I'd take into really fierce lake winds (living on Lake Michigan makes you cautious). I'm also careful where I leave it when shutting the car door; umbrellas and door frames aren't natural friends. Wouldn't suggest using it for jousting either. For everyday rain it's been a good little buy, and I like having it around (rather than testing its limits)

Desiree Cortez

It keeps the rain off, so that part is fine.

It keeps the rain off, so that part is fine. The folded size isn't quite as small as I was hoping, but it would be more convenient if it took up less space in my bag. The button operation is good and the handle gives a decent grip. Wouldn't suggest it if the main thing you're after is something tiny to carry, which was my reason for buying. Better suited to someone less bothered about packing space.

Edwin Rodgers

A lovely umbrella.

A lovely umbrella. Opens without any fuss and the fabric feels nice, with enough cover overhead.I picked the pink one for my goddaughter's birthday. She was delighted and her mum approves too. A little bigger folded than I pictured, but it looks like something she'll get plenty of use from.

Tara Rich

No surprises, which is just what I wanted.

No surprises, which is just what I wanted. This replaces an umbrella I'd kept going for thirty years until it finally wore out. There's a tray beside the driver's door in my van that seems made for an umbrella, a very sensible place to put one. This folds down to sit in that same spot, so the old routine carries on.
