Had a proper chance to use this on my way to work this morning as the rain was coming down heavily - before that it had only been out in drizzle. Quite impressed actually. My shoes were wet by the time I reached the station but the rest of me was dry, which wasn't the case for a lot of people on the platform. Several had wet trousers almost to the knee. I had my backpack on too and that stayed dry, a nice change from having water run down it while I'm trying to keep myself covered. The extra coverage makes a difference without making it feel like you're carting some enormous thing about. It folds into a manageable size and hasn't felt heavy carrying it, and pressing the button gives quite a definite opening. There were gusts on the walk and I wasn't constantly having to wrestle it back into position. I can't say why it feels steadier than the small ones I've had before but it does. The enclosed loop gives me a secure grip as well, rather than feeling like it might slip away. Didn't think there was much to choose between umbrellas until using this one properly. The one thing I would bear in mind is the space it takes when open; in a really packed crowd you do need to watch where the edges are.

This one does that nicely.
Wanted an umbrella I could leave in my bag without giving up most of the room. This one does that nicely. It isn't tiny enough for every little purse, but it's a sensible size for my everyday bag. I wouldn't take it out in anything extreme, just the regular Seattle showers I bought it for...:))
Ashlee Moss
I've had some nice comments when using it.
Wanted something a bit more feminine looking and the pink suits me nicely. It gives enough cover without feeling enormous. The oval loop handle felt a little different at first, I had to work out a comfortable grip, but that aside the quality seems good overall. I've had some nice comments when using it. The pink is a pretty shade, not too loud for me.

no regrets about spending the money on these at all!!!
These have been great for my daily walk from the car to work, which is over a mile. Covers me well and I can keep my backpack tucked underneath too. A gust did push one inside out, but it went back to normal and I've used it since without any trouble. no regrets about spending the money on these at all!!!

These umbrellas have been a great solution for us.
Fishing from our aluminum boat means sitting right out in the sun, since there isn't any cover on it. These umbrellas have been a great solution for us. They're easy enough to hold over our seats and give us a nice patch of shade! As soon as a fish bites we press the button to bring the canopy in and lay the umbrella aside. That leaves our hands free to land the fish and get the hook ready again. Then it's straight back up over us while we wait for another bite!!!
Jill Hanson
I would recommend it to anyone wanting a little extra shade.
I chose the beige one for my wife for mothers day and she was so pleased with it. she has had skin cancer and is careful in the sun, uses sunscreen as well, the umbrella is a nice way to have some shade. It arrived earlier than I had expected and in good condition. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a little extra shade.

For a fairly compact umbrella it does its job and the frame feels quite sturdy. A friend and I fit under it if we're standing close together, though there's not a lot of spare room. I haven't used it in weather windy enough to turn it inside out yet, so that part is still untested. I do feel a bit of a pull when it gusts but so far I've stayed on my feet.

First impression was that this is a substantial umbrella.
First impression was that this is a substantial umbrella. The finish looks good and I don't get that flimsy feeling when I open it.Having said that, one detail is worth spelling out if you are going by the pictures. The beige is on the outside. Underneath, it's black. I can understand someone wanting the light colour on both sides, but personally it doesn't spoil it for me.
Approximate size:
Open across:105cm
Folded length:40cm
Weight:390g
Framework:30 flexible ribs.
So what does that tell you? It is compact in the sense that it folds down, not in the sense of disappearing into a small pocket. Opened out it gives me a sensible amount of room. Folded, it goes in my bag without having a long stick poking out. I think the black underside looks fine against the beige, and once I'm using it I hardly give that contrast a thought. A minor appearance detail compared with the umbrella as a whole.

The loop handle is a nice change from the usual shape.
Comfortable to hold and gives me a good amount of cover. The loop handle is a nice change from the usual shape. I can keep it high enough to look ahead and see people around me without the edge getting in my face! Being able to look where I'm walking is important, and this has been quite easy to carry that way.
Shannon Huffman
Small when put away, so it is easy to carry about.
Small when put away, so it is easy to carry about.
For sunshine and rain coming suddenly, it seems useful to have along.
If it is too heavy, carrying in a handbag becomes difficult.
Unfolding and folding needs a little care, but it is not very difficult to do.
Easy for carrying around. It is a handy size and I would use for usual weather, not the very bad weather.

I'm loving my new umbrella!
I'm loving my new umbrella! The cream white looks so pretty. An automatic closing canopy is new to me, and I've found it very useful. I can fold it with the button as I'm getting into the car instead of standing out in the rain wrestling with it. It's bigger than my old one, which was exactly what I wanted, and the frame feels more substantial too. A couple of people have already asked me about it when I've been out. I wish the shops near me had more attractive umbrellas to choose from, but at least I could find this online.

Nice umbrella however i do wish the coverage at the sides was a bit wider, when it's not right over your head you notice the edge coming up shorter then you want, a little extra there would be GREAT!. Overall though the umbrella is sturdy and seems put together very well.

Oh, the quality of this umbrella!
Oh, the quality of this umbrella! It has a reassuring weight, lovely fabric and so many flexible ribs. Big enough opened but still compact to carry, with automatic opening and a button to close the canopy. I love that loop handle too, absolutely thrilled with it 💚

Thank you for a good product, I can recommend it.
A good purchase. The umbrella feels solid and everything operates as it should. I checked the fabric and ribs and found nothing to complain about. For the money paid I am happy with what I received. Opening is simple and it sits well in the hand. Thank you for a good product, I can recommend it.

Really good umbrella.
Really good umbrella. Only had it out in two rainy spells so far. I wondered whether the folding size would mean too little coverage, but, it's kept me dry. I'll add more if that changes. The frame feels well put together and the button works as it should. Took me a moment to remember that closing with the button only gathers the canopy. You still press the telescoping part down yourself before putting it away. Remember that last bit and it's straightforward, no need to wrestle the fabric by hand. So far I'm pleased with how it handles.
Alexis Morgan
The comments about strength are right.
The comments about strength are right. I have another umbrella I really like as well, and they're are both worth keeping around. For this price, though, I did have pretty high expectations. I've had it through one season now and the handle and ribs still feel extremely solid. It's not a particularly light umbrella, but the automatic opening is nice and I'd sooner carry a few extra ounces than compromise on durability. Will add to this if anything changes.

More coverage than I expected!
More coverage than I expected! I ordered this after using another umbrella for shade in the hot sun.I have to be careful about too much sunshine now, and having shade I can take along is very welcome. My young son wanted an umbrella too, so I picked this gray one thinking it would be small. Opened up it's BIGGER than I pictured, although certainly not a giant golf umbrella. I kept it and passed the smaller one to him, and that one had actually cost me more.pros:1) Good space over one person 2) button opening is much easier than pushing a runner up 3) closed oval handle gives me a firm hold 4) folds down for carrying and seems very good value.cons:1) Compact doesn't mean pocket sized, it's still a fair bundle when folded 2) the handle isn't the usual hooked sort, which takes some getting used to.The button also draws the canopy closed, then you push the telescoping section in yourself. For someone wanting rain cover as well as portable shade, I would recommend it. Nice quality for what I paid.

A very good find for me!!!
I came across this while looking for a sturdier umbrella and thought it was worth trying. Around my building the streets channel the wind, so a rainy walk can be pretty unpleasant. This has stayed manageable on those walks and kept its shape, which is what I wanted. Nothing complicated about using it either. A very good find for me!!!
Beth Potter
The quality is lovely and the carry sleeve is handy too!
Finding a different gift for someone who loves dragonflies was getting difficult, everything seemed to be the same themed bits and pieces. I went with an umbrella instead and she was delighted with it. The quality is lovely and the carry sleeve is handy too! I'm tempted to get another colour as well now.

The pink on this umbrella is so pretty.
The pink on this umbrella is so pretty. There is a black underside, rather than the pink showing through on the inside too. The material has a nice substantial feel, and I like the simple oval handle. It looks carefully put together, not flimsy. I took it to an outdoor event on a hot day and having my own patch of shade made a real difference to how comfortable I was. It is a manageable size, so I could work through the crowd without feeling as though I was carrying a huge canopy, although you still have to watch the tips around people. Depending on where the sun was, my legs were outside the shadow, so sunscreen is still necessary. There were a few breezy moments and I didn't find it difficult to hold onto. For something that folds away afterwards, it gave me exactly the shade I wanted!
Rachel Potter
A press to open it is handy when heading out between classes, too.
Campus here is pretty exposed, with flat ground all around, so rainy walks nearly always seem to come with wind. With the cheap umbrellas I used before I was constantly changing the angle, trying not to let the wind get underneath. This one feels much more settled and I haven't had to fuss with it like that. The ribs give a little rather than feeling rigid, which I appreciate. A press to open it is handy when heading out between classes, too.Overall I'm very happy with it, a much nicer umbrella for everyday use.
Harry Green
The telescoping shaft is then pushed back by hand before storing.
The button on the handle releases the canopy to open, and pressing it again draws the canopy closed. The telescoping shaft is then pushed back by hand before storing. The handle forms a closed oval carabiner loop rather than a curved hook. Once folded, the umbrella can be placed in its carry sleeve for carrying or storage.
Rhonda Mcfarland
The beige is pretty and it keeps me dry.
The beige is pretty and it keeps me dry. I really should have looked at the folded length. It's longer than I expected and won't fit my handbag, though a backpack should work. I've kept it because I enjoy the colour. Just wish I'd measured first. It was packed nicely when it arrived.
Patty Rosales
Looks very smart opened out.
Looks very smart opened out. The plain black underneath gives it a tidy appearance without a busy design. The handle length and the amount of cover feel about medium to me, and the fabric has a substantial feel. To pack it away I use the button to fold the canopy, then shorten the stem by hand. It helps to wrap the fabric neatly and fairly tight before sliding it into the sleeve. It come with the sleeve, and fits in much better when I've taken a moment over the folding.

I always preferred larger umbrellas because they seemed to offer better shelter. It was nice to find this one with a decent canopy that will still fold away. I have not used it in the rain yet, so can only go by appearances, but it looks sturdy. The color (I picked blue) is very pleasant, not too bright, and I am pleased with how it looks.
Heather Murphy
The details make more difference than I expected.
The details make more difference than I expected. Opening this umbrella feels controlled, not like something trying to launch itself at the person beside you -- always appreciated. A second press folds the canopy, so there's no hunting for a little catch with cold fingers. You do still compress the shaft manually to pack it away. The frame feels reassuring without making it awkward to carry. Black is plain, which suits me. I've even kept the sleeve this time, because it actually goes back on without much argument. A little more effort to pack than to open, but a thoughtfully made everyday umbrella.
Caitlyn Sanders
I'm ridiculously fond of this umbrella.
I'm ridiculously fond of this umbrella. Let people look amused while they're wrestling with theirs in the wind, I'm quite happy under mine. Bonus: a decent stretch of canopy between me and everyone else's pointy umbrella ends. It's felt reassuring in the breezes I've used it in, without being some enormous pole to carry.
Monique Wang
What a beautiful umbrella this is.
What a beautiful umbrella this is. The gray is lovely and everything feels nicely finished. Would certainly recommend it. Not the cheapest purchase but the quality makes it worth spending a little extra. I can see it being a lovely present for someone who's difficult to choose for.Absolutely thrilled!!! A keeper
Hailey Lowery
Good solid umbrella for lighter rain and handy to keep with me.
Good solid umbrella for lighter rain and handy to keep with me. In a proper downpour I'd still want a coat, or a larger umbrella for more cover. For everyday use it's convenient though. Folded up, it goes into my roomier cross body purses without taking over the whole bag.
Mckenzie Kent
This has been a good answer.
I've picked up two more of these, which probably tells you where I stand on them. I live in Oregon, where an umbrella gets used rather than just carried around hopefully. Walking between buildings on campus means being out in rain several times a day, sometimes with a bag as well, and I wanted something substantial without carrying a full length umbrella everywhere. This has been a good answer.
The positives first: the canopy gives me decent coverage, and there is room to squeeze somebody alongside for a short walk if necessary. Folded up, it's a manageable thing to put away. It isn't the tiniest umbrella you can buy, but I'd rather have the coverage when it's actually raining. It has also felt reassuring in ordinary gusty weather, without being a struggle to hold onto.
That doesn't mean I would call it windproof. I don't think any handheld umbrella deserves that description, frankly. In really strong wind I still pay attention to which way I'm holding it rather than expecting the ribs to do everything. So far, for the wet walks I actually need it for, I've been satisfied.
The other thing worth mentioning is putting it away. In a crowded computer bag, I use the sleeve instead of leaving the folded canopy and ribs exposed to everything else in there. Pulling an umbrella out by force when it's caught on something seems like asking for trouble, however sturdy it is. The button brings the canopy in; you then shorten the telescoping section yourself before packing it. Not difficult, just worth understanding.
None of that takes away from how useful this has been. It's a sensible balance between something small enough to carry and something I actually want over my head in steady rain. I'd buy it again!
Pedro Rubio
Very good value!
Full marks for a button that CLOSES the canopy as well as opening it! I'm usually loaded up with things and still using a cane after knee surgery, so that makes a real difference. I can shut the canopy first and push the shaft back when I have a hand free. The blue looks lovely, the cover is generous for a folding umbrella, and the frame seems solid. Very good value!

I consider these money well spent.
I consider these money well spent. I have three now, and people often comment on how nice they look. I need to limit direct sun on my skin for health reasons, so I appreciate being able to carry my own shade, as well as having cover when it rains. I still take care when the wind picks up rather than expecting miracles from an umbrella. One went to a close friend, who has been just as pleased with hers.
Summer Stewart
This is excellent.
This is excellent. I live in Miami and try to walk a few miles most days, so an umbrella gets plenty of use. I've owned several compact ones and this is easy enough to take along. Goes in my backpack fine, but don't expect it to disappear into a tiny handbag. It gives a surprisingly roomy bit of shelter once it's up. The button brings it up quick, which is just what I want when the rain starts coming down. It seems solid without being a chore to carry. The green looks really smart too, not cheap looking at all. I'm very pleased with what I got and it's the one I keep reaching for. Love it. Simple as that.
Andrea Erickson
A useful umbrella to keep with you.
A useful umbrella to keep with you. It folds to a manageable size, so carrying it around isn't a nuisance. Open it up and there is comfortable coverage for one person. Two could manage if they stayed fairly close, though I would think of it mainly as a one person umbrella. Very practical to have ready for those showers you weren't expecting. I can recommend it.
Deborah Anderson
Went with black and love how it looks!
Went with black and love how it looks! It folds down neatly without feeling tiny when I open it. There's room over me and my backpack, with a little space to share if we stand close. The automatic action is brilliant, though after closing the canopy I sometimes need a firm push to shorten the shaft. Only a small thing, and I'd certainly recommend it.
Julia Preston
I'd happily recommend it...
Gave this umbrella to a coworker as a present and he was delighted with it. After using it a few times he said he'd like another for his wife, whose old umbrella had seen better days. He tells me it's comfortable to carry in a breeze and straightforward to open and put away.I'd happily recommend it...he's been so pleased with his that I'm thinking I should buy one for myself next :-)
Marcus Dyer
Looks like the pictures.
Looks like the pictures. My son has just turned five and had been asking for an umbrella of his own. Now it lives beside his seat in the car, ready for wet days. He is very pleased with it and likes pressing the button himself. Arrived neatly packed and within the time I was expecting.
Bob Galvan
Solid umbrella, no flimsy feel to it.
Solid umbrella, no flimsy feel to it. My wife uses it with our young son on wet school mornings and it gives them a useful amount of cover. Even when the rain blows a bit sideways its done well. I'd recommend it. The black is fine, though it looks less dressy in person than I expected from the pictures. Also a little bulky folded. Still, for what we paid its been a good buy.
Leon Beard
This has been a great choice.
Needed a dependable umbrella for my son since we get so much rain here in Florida. This has been a great choice. The frame feels strong and there's enough cover for his head and shoulders without wrestling with a huge umbrella. The button makes getting it up much easier too.REALLY PLEASED!My daughter liked it as well, so I ended up buying another for her. Both are happy with theirs!
David Montoya
is an umbrella supposed to give us much excitement?
Gray outside with black underneath, a handy size and goes right in my normal backpack. Was waiting for rain to give it a try, lucky I got one chance already. Works as I expected, nothing very surprising - though ... is an umbrella supposed to give us much excitement? :)
Priscilla Oconnor
When I need to replace it I'd happily choose the same again.
The black looks smart and I love being able to open it and shut the canopy with a button. My hands are small, but the handle sits comfortably in them instead of feeling too wide like my previous one. When I need to replace it I'd happily choose the same again.
Brooke Downs
The beige canopy looks nice as well.
I've used this for rain and for shade and its been very useful so far. It feels solid in my hand when there is a breeze, and gives me enough cover when the rain gets going. On sunny days I like having shade right over my head instead of being out in the full sun. The beige canopy looks nice as well. With the regular use it has had, nothing has given me cause to complain. I'd happily suggest it to a friend wanting an everyday umbrella.
Gregg Rubio
I'm still happy with it and it is the umbrella I keep taking out.
Over a year of carrying this around and people still comment on it! It goes in my purse or backpack, and the push button has been reliable every time. Mine gets used a lot so there are a few rubbed-looking bits along the folds now. Nothing surprising after being taken everywhere. I'm still happy with it and it is the umbrella I keep taking out.
Juan Mcneil
For one average sized person this is a good fit.
Having worked my way through plenty of umbrellas, my list is fairly short now.1) closes at the button2) reasonable cost3) decent cover without a huge folded size.
For one average sized person this is a good fit. Two people isn't really what I'd buy it for, unless you don't mind getting very close. The folded length is manageable, though I can never wrap it quite as neatly as it came. Not quite the same thing once I've used it.
Price matters because umbrellas disappear on me. Left on a bus, forgotten at somebody's house, that sort of thing. Losing an expensive one really stings, and this is a purchase I don't have to feel precious about.
The button folds the canopy quickly when getting into a car, then I compress the stem myself. That part is normal.
Durability: mine has been going for a couple of years. The ribs have a flexible feel rather than being completely stiff.
Kent Roach
I found this green umbrella for her and she was delighted.
My daughter was worried about rain on her wedding day and wanted something she and her husband could stand under together. I found this green umbrella for her and she was delighted. It ended up in quite a few of their wedding pictures, not just waiting around for rain. They still use it together now, which I think is rather sweet!
Erika Atkins
The handle has been the part they've mentioned most.
Every May I give umbrellas to graduating students who are heading off to college, and my own children have had them too. It is a practical gift that doesn't need much explaining. This one folds neatly enough for a book bag without taking over the whole thing. The push button is useful when they're carrying other things; it opens the umbrella and also collapses the canopy, then the shaft is pushed back in by hand. The handle has been the part they've mentioned most. That closed oval shape gives them something easy to hold onto. The ones I've handed out have done well in the usual Midwest rain and wind so far. I feel good recommending these as something the students will actually use.
Brandi Richards
They ARE nicely made, you notice the quality straight away.
Bought two as Christmas presents, one for my mother and one for my sister. Both have been delighted! They ARE nicely made, you notice the quality straight away. They've handled breezy wet days well too. For the money I paid, I think these are a really good choice.

My 3 year old is so excited about his Easter umbrella!
My 3 year old is so excited about his Easter umbrella! We haven't tried it in the rain yet but he's already watching for clouds. It looks adorable and the ribs feel quite substantial, with some give to them. He figured the button out straight away.I still have to help shorten it by hand once the canopy has shut. That's the only little niggle for us, a bit much for small hands but easy enough with me helping. He absolutely loves it.
Barry Daugherty
That doesn't shorten the whole umbrella.
Folded up it's about 40cm long and fits comfortably in my messenger bag. Not much trouble to bring along. Opened out, the canopy is wide enough to keep me covered in ordinary rain, and everything feels solid -- very pleased with it.One thing worth knowing: pressing the button sends it up, and another press pulls the canopy shut. That doesn't shorten the whole umbrella. You still need to push the telescoping section down manually until it clicks, ready for the next time.
Ashlee Schaefer
Nice looking2.
1. Nice looking2. Feels sturdy.3. Covers my shoulders & upper half properly when it's raining, which is what I need.4. Opens to a useful size without making me look tiny - I'm 5.2 and slim and don't want a huge thing over me. It feels manageable to carry as well. For a woman my size the proportions are pretty good.
