Nice to have something he actually wants to carry.
My five year old is always determined to be the one carrying an umbrella, so this one is his. He still can't hold it over me, of course, but he's happy with that arrangement. The frame feels solid, and the oval handle gives him something to get hold of easily. Nice to have something he actually wants to carry.

A sensible purchase that I intend to keep hold of!
My priorities were - and still are - a sturdy umbrella that looks smart and is manageable to carry. This one gives me good coverage without needing to pull it down in front of my face, so I can keep an eye on traffic and crossings. The cream white colour is easy to spot among my things, which helps with my habit of leaving umbrellas behind. The loop handle has a solid feel and it packs into its sleeve without much fuss. A sensible purchase that I intend to keep hold of!

This is an umbrella I'm glad to have in my purse.
This is an umbrella I'm glad to have in my purse. Not too much to carry on day trips, and handy when I end up somewhere without shade. It gives me a decent patch of shade. Putting it away takes a little more effort than I expected; the button closes the canopy, but I use both hands to compress the telescoping shaft afterwards. That's just how it works, not a problem with it. A small gripe really, because overall I'm delighted. I can see it coming along on plenty of summer outings.

" and now I can say, "YES, this one!
This is the sort of umbrella I can leave in my backpack instead of remembering to pick up a long one by the door. It opens quickly, gives me enough shelter and then folds into something manageable. That makes it much more likely I'll actually have it when I need it.People here don't use umbrellas every day, so buying one seems to be an afterthought. Then the rain comes and everyone wonders why their bargain umbrella is such a pain. I've been asked, "Are there any decent folding ones?" and now I can say, "YES, this one!" A quick demonstration usually gets more interest than any explanation, especially when they see it packed away again.
Natasha Huff
It's best for one person.
Among the folding umbrellas I've owned, this is one of the better ones. I've taken it out on wet, windy days in Toronto and haven't felt I had to baby it. The whole thing feels fairly substantial for something that folds down. Price is reasonable too- enough that it seems decent, not so much that I'd panic if I left it somewhere. A few thoughts-1. After leaving it open to air, mine has dried fairly quickly.2. It's best for one person. Two can manage if they stay close, but don't expect everyone to be completely covered.3. The oval handle feels substantial, although my larger hands don't always find it perfectly comfortable. That's a small thing for me and hasn't spoiled what is otherwise a very useful umbrella.
Warren Steele
Nice amount of cover for a folding umbrella, plenty for me!
Nice amount of cover for a folding umbrella, plenty for me! This one does have a button, so don't expect it to be all manual. It springs open and the canopy shuts from that same button. You still push the shaft back in yourself, which doesn't bother me. Feels sturdy too, does the job!

I am pleased with this umbrella and would recommend it to others.
The Haven black umbrella has been a very useful everyday umbrella for me. I do not play golf, so my interest is just having something practical to carry when rain is likely. The frame has 30 flexible ribs and gives the canopy a solid feel without making this a full length stick umbrella. Pressing the button opens it with one hand, and pressing again closes the canopy. You still compress the telescoping shaft manually to finish packing it away. The size is good for covering one person comfortably. For reference, the approximate figures are:- 105cm across when open- 40cm folded- 390g in weight. I appreciate having those details rather than having to guess from pictures. The black finish is plain and suits everyday use. I am pleased with this umbrella and would recommend it to others. Thanks for taking the time to read my review.

It's been out in plenty of rain with me and kept me dry.
Over the years I've tried quite a few umbrellas, and this does the same everyday job as the more expensive ones I had. What made me choose it was paying considerably less without giving up the coverage I needed. It's been out in plenty of rain with me and kept me dry. Nothing fancy to say, just a worthwhile purchase.

She wasn't too impressed with either the umbrella or my planning.
An umbrella lives in each of our vehicles- at least that is the idea. Most of the old ones weren't much use. Standing in the rain at an event this spring with my wife made that fairly obvious. I fetched one from the car and we were still getting wet underneath it. She wasn't too impressed with either the umbrella or my planning. So for Mothers' Day I ordered two of these, one each. They seem sturdier than what we had, yet fold down small enough to leave in the car. They're a little heavier than my old ones, hence four stars. She's tried hers at a softball game and thought it was great. Worth considering.

The umbrella feels solid and the finish is neat.
Matches what I expected. The umbrella feels solid and the finish is neat. Automatic opening works well, and the canopy folds in neatly with the same button. There is a sleeve to store it in. The enclosed loop handle is comfortable to hold. Satisfied with it and would recommend buying one.

A nicely finished umbrella with a reassuringly solid feel.
A nicely finished umbrella with a reassuringly solid feel. The gray shade is not quite what the online picture suggested, however. In person it looks noticeably darker, rather than the softer light gray I was expecting. Still attractive, but not quite as pleasing to me as the picture.
Kelli Blake
the umbrella I had before was heavier.
I've used it for a while now and everything is going fine, even in the wind. I saw people saying it was heavy, but for me it's a normal weight; the umbrella I had before was heavier. The folded length, or height, whatever you call that, was a little more than I expected. I haven't paid much attention to it though. I recommend it if you're thinking about buying.

Description was accurate, and it's handy for keeping the sun off.
Description was accurate, and it's handy for keeping the sun off. Proper personal umbrella size, not a giant beach shelter, and it actually folds away for carrying. That's much more useful for me. Possible "survival" equipment? Maybe not making a tent out of this one, but I'd still be reluctant to leave it behind. If there was a lifeboat involved I'd probably say "Hold on, I need my umbrella!" before climbing aboard...
Chris Park
Such a lovely looking umbrella.
Such a lovely looking umbrella. The black gives it a smart, understated look rather than the usual gloomy rain gear. There's something quite classy about it when it's open. My one small gripe is getting it neatly back into the sleeve; I have to take my time with that.

Use mine nearly every day-rain now and then, mostly for shade.
Use mine nearly every day-rain now and then, mostly for shade. I catch the bus for work, shopping... so something I can fold up & carry along is useful. The canopy gives me a nice patch of shade while waiting, & the button is easier than wrestling an umbrella open. Wind can still be awkward, but holding it into the breeze makes it manageable. For me the convenience is worth that small bother. My old everyday umbrella had years of use and was looking worn(still perfectly usable). Recently picked up 2 of these so there is one each. Pleased with how they handle, just a practical thing that gets used a lot.

Two years of use and this umbrella is still doing what I need it…
Two years of use and this umbrella is still doing what I need it to do. I hesitated over the cost, having had umbrellas that weren't much use once the wind picked up. This one has coped well with the gusts I've encountered and I am glad I spent the extra. A little more room underneath would be nice, but that hasn't stopped me using it.
Anna Jensen
We've both stayed dry on our walks with it!!
He's over six foot and I'm only just five foot, so sharing an umbrella usually has me walking all crooked!! This one gives us enough room if we stay close,so I can walk beside my sweetheart instead of doing that odd sideways walk. We've both stayed dry on our walks with it!!

My partner is over 6' and I'm just over 5', so sharing an umbrella isn't always easy!! With this one we can stay dry walking close together,I don't have to twist myself sideways all the time. Not acres of space but enough for me and my other half on an ordinary rainy walk!!

The umbrella itself is very nice and everything works as expected.
The umbrella itself is very nice and everything works as expected. I like how quickly it opens, and it gives a useful amount of cover without being awkward to hold. My only reservation is really about my own choice of colour. I thought cream white would be fairly understated, but in person it has a dressier look than I pictured for myself. There is nothing wrong with it, just not quite the everyday look I wanted. My wife likes the shade much more than I do, so she will probably be the one carrying it. I should have thought a little longer about that when choosing. As an umbrella, though, it feels sturdy and is straightforward to use. Overall I still think it is good value.

For something quick to carry and get out, this is handy.
I am at college and spend a lot of time walking between classes, whatever the weather is doing. I usually keep an umbrella in an outer pocket on my backpack so it is there when I need it. Folded up this seemed just right for that pocket, which was why I was pleased with it at first. When it finally rained I was glad to have something along while other people had nothing. It did a really good job of keeping me dry, but unfortunately the same wasn't true for my bag. The corners of the books and papers inside were damp when I checked, and those were the things I was most worried about protecting. For something quick to carry and get out, this is handy. For a college student carrying school work and a computer as well, I don't think the coverage reaches far enough to keep both the person and the backpack properly dry.
Debra Duffy
Was glad to see this umbrella arrive.
Was glad to see this umbrella arrive. There is a good amount of cover when it is up, but it folds down to something I can carry easily. I play golf and have already had it out in steady rain without getting soaked. Felt steady in my hand, too. Not as heavy as I was expecting. Thanks for a useful Umbrella. There will be plenty more chances to try it while I am out playing, so I'm pleased with the start.
Kenneth Dickerson
Feels reassuringly solid, nothing flimsy about it.
I've been demonstrating the button to anyone who'll watch - pressing it folds the canopy shut, then you compress the shaft yourself. Feels reassuringly solid, nothing flimsy about it. Only giving four because it's chunkier folded than I pictured. Still tucks into the space I had for it, so I'm keeping it.
Eduardo Johns
I can't just tuck it in my smallest bag.
It folds down, but the bundle is longer than I expected for a compact umbrella. I can't just tuck it in my smallest bag. Once it's open there's a useful amount of cover, and it handles rain nicely. If you have room to carry it, it's a good umbrella- I just wouldn't choose it for every little drizzle.
Andres Reyes
I am so glad I ended up keeping this umbrella.
I am so glad I ended up keeping this umbrella. I had the wrong idea about the button when I first tried it and thought the whole thing would pull itself down. Once I understood that it closes the canopy and you push the shaft back in yourself, it made a lot more sense. No need to change it after all.(And honestly I liked the look of it so much I didn't really want to part with it anyway! ) I've had it out in San Francisco when the rain and wind were making a nuisance of themselves and it has been a really solid umbrella for my everyday use. I wouldn't go looking for the worst storm just to prove anything, but it feels strong and I am happy carrying it. Between that and how handy the button is, I feel like I made a great choice! :)

I bought my first one roughly ten years back and now I'd really miss the automatic opening and closing. When I'm carrying things in the rain, which seems to be every time, that button makes such a difference. I'm always reluctant to let my husband borrow it because I worry he'll forget it somewhere. I was so pleased to come across these online and have just bought another for my college-age son. He was delighted that he can open it and close the canopy with one hand. The shaft still needs pushing down by hand afterwards, but I can press the button, get indoors out of the rain and do that last bit there, so it doesn't bother me. There's a good amount of cover when it's open, without being too bulky to tuck into a backpack or a bigger purse once it's folded.
Toni Beasley
Coverage is good for one adult.
The umbrella has been useful for keeping rain off when I'm walking around Vancouver, BC. Staying here for a while made me want something better for the wet weather, particularly when rain blows in from behind.I still have to angle it towards the rain, and it won't keep every bit of my trousers dry, but it is easier to hold steady than the small umbrella I was using before. After a few months it has done a good job overall. The folded size is manageable to carry and the opening button is handy when stepping outside. Coverage is good for one adult. If you often want to shelter another person as well, I would look for something wider rather than expecting this one to cover both comfortably.
Sherri Clements
Has coped well with the breezy, wet days so far.
Has coped well with the breezy, wet days so far. I can see ahead easily without holding it too high. I kept reaching to push it open at first, then remembered there is a button. Much simpler once that sinks in. The oval handle is comfortable, even when I've been carrying it a while.

The material has a different feel from my old umbrellas, so I'm interested to see how it sheds the rain. The button action is very convenient, especially for getting on the bus without wrestling the canopy shut. All those ribs make it feel substantial too, and I expect it to cope nicely with a bit of wind.
Lisa Cantrell
This should suit outdoor events and fishing, mainly as a bit of shade.
Spent quite a while looking at umbrellas online and comparing prices untill I found one I was happy with. This should suit outdoor events and fishing, mainly as a bit of shade. A little bulkier folded than I pictured, but overall I'm satisfed with what I got for the money.

The blue looked so cheerful, it turned out to be a lovely choice!
Our granddaughters were thrilled with their Christmas umbrellas! They kept twirling them beside the tree, so pleased with their new presents. When the rain picked up the following day they couldn't wait to take them outside. We grownups appreciated the amount of cover, and reminded them to keep the edge above their eyes when walking. The blue looked so cheerful, it turned out to be a lovely choice!

Reasonable price for an umbrella to leave in the car.
Reasonable price for an umbrella to leave in the car. That's all I needed - something ready when I get caught in rain. The button action is smooth and it folds away without much fuss. I wouldn't choose it for constant rough treatment, but for occasional use it's a little better than I anticipated.
Mark Knapp
This seems sturdy enouh, although I haven't tried it on a windy day.
My last umbrella lasted ages, so I wanted something with that same solid feel. This seems sturdy enouh, although I haven't tried it on a windy day. I hoped the cream white would look warmer, as it did in the picture. In person it's a little whiter than the creamy shade I had in mind. Colour was part of the attraction, so that is the reason for four stars instead of five.
Brett Gallagher
It's my second one and I'd happily recommend it!
My daily commute includes about a mile and a half on foot, so an umbrella gets a proper outing with me. I've carried this through moderate rain and wind and it's done very well. Not tiring to hold, dries off quickly, and the push-button opening is handy when I'm heading out. It's my second one and I'd happily recommend it!
Carol Thornton
It makes the hot mornings much more pleasant underneath.
I've been taking this along all summer, mainly to keep the sun off my face. It makes the hot mornings much more pleasant underneath. I carry it on my hour walks and on guided outings, and people have stopped to ask about it.My complaints are that it gets a little heavy after a while, and closing is more than a button push. That folds the canopy, then you have to press the handle and centre pole together before it'll open again. Still useful enough that I keep taking it with me.
Marie Cohen
Happy with how they went down
I chose green umbrellas for my staff at Christmas. They were a hit. I wanted something useful that wasn't too personal and didn't cost a fortune for everyone. There's a fair walk between the parking garage and our office, and it gets windy along there. These seemed a sensible choice, with a nice bit of colour rather than another dull office gift. Happy with how they went down

We have two, one tucked away in each car.
We have two, one tucked away in each car. This is the BEST umbrella I've had for everyday use! Opens out to a proper useful size and feels so well made. I can keep a little one close beside me under it, which helps with our kids (3 & 5). My wife likes hers just as much. Even a few people at work have asked where I found it!
Billy Floyd
I'd certainly recommend it.
My husband got so much use out of this on our New York vacation. It was handy in the rain and also gave him some shade whenever we stopped outside. Folded up, it wasn't an awkward thing to carry around all day, which mattered to him. A very useful thing to have along without hauling something huge. I'd certainly recommend it.
Ricardo Johnson
It opened neatly and made a nice bit of shade.
It came earlier today and I took it outside for a quick try. It opened neatly and made a nice bit of shade. The sky is clear, so I can't give an opinion on keeping rain off just yet.It looks good, feels solid, and has enough weight without being a burden. Now I get to look forward to a wet day (not exactly celebrating that). I dislike getting rained on, which is rather the point of having an umbrella.I'm thinking my wife would like a pink one as well.
Tim Michael
This is exactly the sort of size I wanted.
I need a solid umbrella for windy rain without carrying a golf umbrella all over the city. This is exactly the sort of size I wanted. I've held it into the wind when the rain was coming at an angle, and the canopy stayed open and did its job. You do have to pay attention to how you're holding it. I wouldn't expect any umbrella to keep every bit of me dry in that weather, which is why I still wear a rain jacket. But having proper cover over my head makes a big difference. When I'm done, it folds down instead of being a big stick to carry. This is the one I want with me.
Todd Garrison
No regrets at all, would recommend!
Went for this one after getting fed up with umbrellas that felt useless in the weather. Also, i'd been arriving with a damp backpack after even a short walk. This gives me good cover, and feels properly built without being expensive. No regrets at all, would recommend!
Tanya Barajas
Very happy I gave it a chance!!!
I was searching for a sturdier umbrella and decided this one deserved a try. Around my building the streets funnel the wind so a walk in the rain can be a real battle. I've used this there and it has stayed the right way round, which is more than I could say about my old ones. Very happy I gave it a chance!!!
Terry Schneider
For me everything is good, so I recommend this umbrella.
Another package today; a few of the umbrellas came together, so there was quite a lot to unpack. I checked them one by one and everything seems fine. The opening is fine, and the button works, so I can recommend them. More of the same in the next package. I have ordered a few already and will probably get more; I wanted them to fold down properly, which they do. At first I was looking at the handle and then the sleeve, but it all packs away as expected. In general, no complaints. The canopy comes in with the button and then you push the shaft down yourself. I checked again because I thought there was another step, but no, that was all. There are several here now, all the same kind. I had ordered a few, then added some more, and that explains the amount. For me everything is good, so I recommend this umbrella.

what a relief!
what a relief! This has rescued me from trouble. My Husband had a favorite big umbrella, which HE left behind somewhere and we never got it back. We bought another, then guess who left that one in a shopping cart? ME. Asked at the store but nobody had handed it in sadly. So I needed to replace it before hubby realised what I'd done! This one is wonderful and I can stop worrying about the missing umbrella now. I don't think I could explain losing yet another umbrella. I am going to (try to) keep hold of this one, honestly!!
Jeanne Maldonado
Had mine for ages and it's been a tough little umbrella!
Had mine for ages and it's been a tough little umbrella! It has coped well with blustery days instead of turning over on me. Then I managed to catch it in my bike wheel :( That was entirely my doing, not the umbrella's fault :( I'll be getting the same one again. Looks right with whatever I'm wearing cause it goes with about anything! :)
Destiny Huerta
I'm getting another of these!!!
I'm getting another of these!!! Nice looking and handy when my hands are full and I'm going through a doorway. A quick press gets the canopy out of the way. It has coped well with wind overall, though one gust did turn the canopy inside out once, it didnt damage anything and I was able to turn it back into shape without much fuss.
Leslie Clark
I'm happy to have another I enjoy carrying.
Easy to take along & easy to put up, but what I enjoy most is having an umbrella I actually like looking at on another cloudy day. I've always appreciated a nice-looking umbrella & this one makes the dull days a bit more pleasant. We get plenty of rain & cloud here, so it gets used a lot. An old favourite of mine was stolen at a train station & I still remember that. I'm happy to have another I enjoy carrying. Thank you!

Sturdy construction and it gives good coverage.
Sturdy construction and it gives good coverage. The only reason I've gone with four stars is that I notice the weight in my purse. Not terrible, just more than I want to carry around all day. I'd still use it, but worth considering if you like a really lightweight umbrella.
Bethany Lester
He's been very pleased with it.
My husband's umbrella disappeared after he forgot it at a meeting, so I bought this as his replacement. He's been very pleased with it. There's enough room for him without it being a huge thing to carry, and it seems nice and solid. (When we're both out and sharing, I use a bigger umbrella of my own.) His hands are fairly large, so a little more space inside the loop handle would suit him, but he likes it overall.
Melanie Robinson
My previous umbrella was stolen....
Years of living with windy streets have made me rather picky about umbrellas - I want one that feels substantial, not something flimsy. This one has been very good in the rain I've used it in. My previous umbrella was stolen....so I paid more attention when choosing its replacement. I've read the complaints, but my own experience has been positive. Please remember this is a COMPACT umbrella, not a giant shelter. For everyday use I have no hesitation recommending it.
Stuart Rojas
Only had it out in light rain so far and it kept me dry.
Light enough to keep with me instead of leaving it at home. My wife kept borrowing it, so I ended up getting one for her too. Only had it out in light rain so far and it kept me dry. The canopy isn't massive, but unlike my big golf umbrella this is one I can actually take everywhere.
