Plain doesn't have to mean BORING!!

Plain doesn't have to mean BORING!! This one caught my eye straight away...the gray, the shape, that oval handle; it just suits me. I am fussy about what I carry, yes even an umbrella!! No frills needed when the whole thing looks this neat. The finish feels lovely...I keep taking it out to look at it. An umbrella should have a bit of personality, not just be something you forget in a corner. Delighted, delighted with mine!!

It kept me covered and felt steady throughout.

I checked the ribs over when it arrived, as I was a bit doubtful about how sturdy a folding umbrella would be. Everything seemed securely put together, which was reassuring. After taking it out in a heavy spell of rain I've stopped worrying about that. It kept me covered and felt steady throughout. As far as umbrellas go, I'm very satisfied with this one.

Apart from that I'm very pleased and would recommend it.

I've had this sort of umbrella before and went for another because I like the way it works. There's a generous amount of cover once it's up and I stay dry underneath. The automatic opening is handy and another press folds the canopy away.My one grumble is the last part, you still need to press the telescoping shaft down yourself. It takes a fair push, especially when I'm trying to get seated in the car while it's pouring. That's how it's meant to close, just not the easiest thing with my hands full. Apart from that I'm very pleased and would recommend it.

One of the nicest umbrella purchases I've made.

One of the nicest umbrella purchases I've made. As a kid I loved parading around with an umbrella, pretending to look fashionable. These days I'm more interested in staying dry on the way to the train and while waiting for it. This gives me enough cover so i don;t arrive with wet shoulders, which matters a lot more now.

Wind -- I wouldn't describe any umbrella as unbeatable.

.I've had a proper look over this and it makes a good impression....seams, fabric, ribs, the way the button works. Everything looks carefully put together. Is five stars too generous? I don't think so. I can usually find something to grumble about and I'm not seeing much here. Bear in mind that most of my previous umbrellas were inexpensive ones, so that is my comparison.Rain -- It gives me useful coverage without being a full length umbrella. The opening action is positive, and the canopy closes with the button; the shaft still needs pushing down by hand.Wind -- I wouldn't describe any umbrella as unbeatable. I have no measured wind test to offer and wouldn't pretend otherwise.Shade -- Pleasant to have overhead in sunshine, but I can't attach a protection rating to that. It's an umbrella, not a laboratory result.- - - Overall - - -A very convincing everyday item. I'll add more if longer use changes my opinion ~~~

The winter rain here gives umbrellas plenty to do.

The winter rain here gives umbrellas plenty to do. This one has a nice shape when open and covers me properly, which is the important part. I also enjoy how it looks from underneath. The fabric feels decent and the frame seems strong, so I'm hopeful it'll last well. It feels worth what I paid, rather than just another umbrella I'll be replacing at the next rainy spell.

I would [happily suggest] this umbrella to [other people].

The [automatic action] is [excellent], and the [canopy] goes out and comes back together with the [button]. The [opening speed] has a [strong feeling], so hold the handle properly before [operating]. To finish [closing], the [telescoping shaft] is pushed down by hand. There are [30 ribs] in the [frame], with a [flexible] feeling that makes the open umbrella look well supported. Outside is [black], and underneath is also [black], a [simple] and [smart] appearance. 【Suitable for】men too. One small concern is the fabric looks rather smooth and thin, not the thick woven-looking material of some umbrellas I have owned. I will have to see how it wears. The folded length is around [40 centimetres], which I found [compact enough] for carrying, while it spreads to about [105 centimetres] when open. For this price, having the [automatic canopy action], [substantial frame] and [neat appearance] together feels like [good value]. I would [happily suggest] this umbrella to [other people].

A nicely made umbrella without a silly price tag.

A nicely made umbrella without a silly price tag. Much better than the old one I carried. It slips into my backpack easily & the automatic action is a real convenience. The cream white canopy looks smart, with black underneath. Feels solid in use too. A purchase I'm glad I made!

Those tiny sliding catches on umbrellas drive me nuts

Those tiny sliding catches on umbrellas drive me nuts; my fingers always end up in the wrong place. i wanted something less fiddly without paying a fortune...the button on this makes much more sense. and that handle, a LOOP instead of the usual straight grip! saw one on the bus and thought, yes, i NEED one of those.its a handy shape and the whole thing feels pretty substantial, not the flimsy sort i usually end up with. can't quite give it five because the price feels a little high for what is still an umbrella. take a bit off and i'd have no argument...but i do enjoy using it. the handle is a big part of why i bought it, and i haven't regretted that.

Anna Short

Opening this gives me a nice little space out of the rain.

Opening this gives me a nice little space out of the rain.I'm tall and always watching other people's umbrellas near my face, so I appreciate the decent coverage. The gray canopy looks smart with the shaft and that oval handle.Overall it is a tidy looking umbrella with a good finish.

Opened up, there's a proper amount of cover.

My work equipment already makes for a heavy bag on the train and subway, so I thought quite hard about adding an umbrella. This is roughly 390g, which I can manage, and it fits in my work bag without needing to carry it separately. Opened up, there's a proper amount of cover. I've been showing people because I'm pleased with how substantial it feels, and I'm thinking about getting another. Haven't actually taken it out in the RAIN yet, so I can't report on that part. I don't expect miracles in serious wind -- something built for that would probably be more than I'd want to lug about. The gray is lovely in person, but really it was the combination of folded size and manageable weight that mattered to me.

Carmen Guzman

This one was a nice balance.

I bought this as a present for a friend who loves cream white things; but didn't want anything too fussy or something that looked made for a child. This one was a nice balance. The price seemed fair, there's enough room underneath for an adult, and it looks cute without being over the top. She was delighted with it!

Kirsten Barrera

I picked the gray one for my niece's second birthday.

I picked the gray one for my niece's second birthday. She was delighted and started marching round the house wanting it opened straight away (I worked the button and kept hold of it with her, she's still little). The canopy gives her plenty of room underneath, it isn't one of those tiny things that only covers the top of your head. She liked holding the loop while I helped and was very proud of her umbrella. Couldn't have asked for a happier reaction!

Sarah Graham

I've had two of these now.

I've had two of these now. Folded, it goes in my larger bag easily enough, and opening it gives a useful amount of cover. It's handy having one along when rain catches me out instead of having to plan for it. Looks smart too. I'd like a little less bulk, but not at the expense of the sturdy feel that makes it useful.

Margaret Wright

The black is a proper deep black in person.

The fabric has a nice substantial feel and the whole umbrella seems put together well--it's rather sweet looking too. The black is a proper deep black in person. Size is generous--a bit much for my three year old to manage comfortably just now, but I prefer that to something she'll outgrow straight away. I can see this being useful for quite a while.

Caleb Fleming

The gray is a nice plain color.

I wanted another umbrella with an automatic action and have spent quite a while looking. Quite a few compact ones seemed too small to be much use once they were open. This one gives me the room I wanted without being a long umbrella to carry around. The gray is a nice plain color. Getting into a car or onto a bus is easier because a press of the button draws the canopy in; I just compress the shaft afterwards. For what I paid I think it was a good find, especially after seeing how much some of the others cost.

Jesse Patel

More umbrella than I expected for the money.

More umbrella than I expected for the money. I've handled some cheap folding ones that feel pretty crappy, and this feels a step up from those. Hopefully I'll be using it for years rather than shopping for another soon. Good looking as well, I could almost call it a fashion accessory.

Mary Crosby

Happy with the umbrella now it's here though.

Other things I ordered that day were here a week before this, so the wait felt long. Happy with the umbrella now it's here though. Sensible size and seems strong. The button needs a confident press, and I have to fold everything neatly to get it back into the sleeve.

Darrell Compton

Try the opening and closing at home before relying on it in the rain.

Try the opening and closing at home before relying on it in the rain. The button brings the canopy up and also draws it closed; shortening the telescoping stem is something you do manually. I mention that because there is still a step left after pressing close. The gray covering is fabric, not the clear plastic sort, and has a black underside. There is some creasing from being packed away, more noticeable before it is opened. I wondered how tidy those folds would remain with use. Still, the whole thing seems solid rather than flimsy. Folded, it is about 40cm long. The handle is a closed oval carabiner loop, rather than a curved walking-stick handle. The shaft telescopes. There are numerous ribs, 30 according to the description, and they have some give rather than being completely rigid. It is compact to carry, but not something I would describe as tiny. Open above my head, the canopy reaches comfortably beyond my shoulders. Good.---A YEAR LATER: I have had this for over a year now, and it is still intact. It comes out less often lately because I sometimes choose a larger umbrella. The folded fabric does take a little arranging if you want it to slide easily into its sleeve. I let it dry open before putting it away, then gather the folds instead of stuffing the whole thing in. Nothing has become loose, and the button still works as it did at the beginning. The creases have not turned into any noticeable problem with the covering. So, a fairly substantial folding umbrella, with a useful opening mechanism and a closing routine that becomes ordinary once you have done it a few times.

Alexa Salas

More coverage than I expected from a folding umbrella- ROOMY!

More coverage than I expected from a folding umbrella- ROOMY! One press opens it and the handle feels good in my hand. My reservation is the effort needed to pack it down. The button gathers the canopy, but I still have to shorten the telescoping part myself and that needs a firm push. It works as it should, just not quite as effortless to put away as I had imagined.

Chelsea Reynolds

Whoever took it has a nice umbrella now.

What a handsome umbrella! Tried it in New York in light wind and rain and got several compliments. Apparently I'm not the only fan.Pros: -black looks classic without being fussy -can share with someone if you huddle -button opening and canopy collapse are handy Cons: -too soon to know how the button holds up long term -nice enough that someone wanted mine Things to note: -black underneath as well, and it folds shorter rather than being a full length umbrella. Sadly I only got about a day with it before it was stolen. :( I'd really enjoyed using it and the price seems fair, so I'm planning to get another! Hopefully I can hang on to that one a little longer. Whoever took it has a nice umbrella now.

Rain stays off me, which is the main thing I wanted.

Rain stays off me, which is the main thing I wanted. I went for black because I wanted something plain. I wasn't after a decorative item, just something that seemed worth the money. Opening it is straightforward and the coverage is enough for me. Folded doesn't mean tiny, though, and it fills more space in my bag than I had imagined. I'm satisfied at this price, but anyone expecting a really miniature umbrella should look carefully at how large it is when put away

Don Rowland

Having portable shade available would suit him.

After a run of flimsy umbrellas, I wanted something that felt more substantial for everyday rain. Living in Montana has made me rather tired of umbrellas that seem barely worth taking outside. But rain wasn't my only reason for buying this one. I dislike the heat, and finding a patch of shade isn't always as easy as it sounds. Opened up, it's a comfortable size for personal cover. There is enough canopy that I don't feel I have to shrink myself underneath it, but it folds into something reasonably manageable. This isn't the umbrella for gathering several adults under. For carrying around and having available when I need it, though, the size makes sense to me. The shade turned out to be an especially useful part of the purchase over the summer. I held it for my mother-in-law while she was going through treatment and needed to avoid direct sunshine. I also used it to shade my grandfather-in-law (96, and honestly one of the finest gentlemen you could meet). Getting the sun off someone makes standing around in the heat considerably more pleasant. I hadn't really thought about how often I'd end up holding it for somebody besides myself, but there you are. My strongest impression: it feels *substantial*. There is some weight to it, which I appreciate when using it, and appreciate rather less after holding my arm up for ages! It's not outrageously heavy, just not something my arm forgets about when I'm keeping the shade over another person. Both of them commented that it would be nice to have the shade without someone having to hold it. I agree. That's a wish rather than something I expected a handheld umbrella to provide, but it does occur to you after a while. That is about the extent of my grumbling. I'm pleased with it for rain, and the extra usefulness on sunny days has made it worth taking along. I'm considering another for my dad, whose rosacea makes the hot months in Arizona particularly unpleasant. Having portable shade available would suit him. One last thing about the appearance: mine is pink outside, with black underneath. The contrast is quite nice, although I can't say examining the inside of an umbrella is a regular pastime of mine. Usually I'm more interested in not walking into whatever is ahead of me. LOL...

My little work duffle has a permanent spot for this umbrella.

My little work duffle has a permanent spot for this umbrella. I leave it there for those showers that catch you on the commute. The button puts it up, and I like asking friends to guess how it shuts. Same button, another press! The canopy folds in, then you shorten the pole yourself to pack it away. That little trick still entertains me. I've had five years with it now and I still find myself trying the button when there isn't even a drop of rain about.

Alec Harper

I haven't used it in rain yet, so these are just first impressions.

If you want a reasonably priced umbrella with decent room underneath, this looks a good option. I haven't used it in rain yet, so these are just first impressions. The frame feels firm and the fabric seems substantial. It isn't enormous, but it's a useful size for a folding umbrella and looks as though it should hold up well.

Kristopher Massey

pretty close to what i expected.

pretty close to what i expected. the gray looks a little different from the photo, nothing that bothers me much. i've used it for shade as well as rain and it feels well put together. we don't get much wind here so that's still untested. a decent buy overall, i'd be happy with another.

They've kept the girls dry and worked as they should.

Picked up two for my girls, aged 10 and 6, to use walking to school. About six weeks in and they seem nicely made. They've kept the girls dry and worked as they should. Both girls are happy carrying them, and they like the cream white rather than the usual dark umbrellas.

Dakota Fox

Happy to recommend!

I only wanted an umbrella I could leave in my bag and still get decent coverage when the rain starts. This does exactly that! It pisses me off having to carry a long umbrella all day just in case. Folded up, this stays out of my way until needed.Seems solid enough for what I paid as well, not just something small for the sake of being small. Happy to recommend!

Once the canopy is wrapped properly it goes in, so not a major issue.

The sleeve takes a bit of fiddling to get on neatly, which is the main reason I haven't given it five stars. Once the canopy is wrapped properly it goes in, so not a major issue.Compared with my previous folding umbrella, this one is heavier and takes up more room than I expected. On the other hand, it seems solid and has kept me dry in the weather we've had here.

Robyn Adkins

Easily my favorite umbrella so far.

I wanted some portable shade for wandering around music festivals.Something good looking but not too fancy, and green does the job. As a man I didn't particularly want something covered in frills, just a nice looking umbrella. This feels about right. Open it's got plenty of coverage without becoming ridiculous, and the frame feels quite solid.Folded it fits in the side pouch of my backpack, which is where it'll spend most of its traveling time. There's a sleeve too, though I'll probably misplace that sooner or later. One push and it's up. Easily my favorite umbrella so far.

Zoe Crane

I'm loving this umbrella!

I'm loving this umbrella! Its sturdy and looks smart, makes me almost glad when the weather turns wet. People seem to give me a little space when it's up, so I dont spend the whole walk worrying about knocking into everyone. There are a few water marks now, probably my fault for putting it away damp instead of drying it properly. Still looks good to me and does a great job!

Sandra Sellers

Anyway works good for me.

This one is light for how much cover it gives. Seems durable too if treated with some care. I been thinking before about an umbrella with a loop for carrying, never noticed this kind around Rhode Island. Had a idea of my own then went looking online and THERE it was! Not saying I invented it, just funny when somebody already thought the same thing.A useful little improvement for walking and taking buses or taxis here. The closed oval handle makes more sense to me than a skinny straight grip. I would recommend it but somehow people aren't very interested in these little improvements. Guess daily traveling habits don't change much. Anyway works good for me.

Christopher Herrera

Used this for shade while watching my son play baseball in the heat.

Used this for shade while watching my son play baseball in the heat. What a difference! Having the sun off my face made sitting there much more pleasant. There's a decent amount of cover without a huge umbrella to wrestle with, and I had no trouble holding it through the game.

Carmen Gentry

I'd recommend it without hesitation!

For anyone wanting a decent umbrella without spending a fortune, this is worth a look!! I'm so pleased with mine. I'd been after a black one for a while, but kept finding ones that cost more than I wanted to pay. Decided to try this and I'm glad I did. It was packed carefully and looked just as it did online. Feels well made too. A really good buy... I'd recommend it without hesitation!

Amy Thomas

It's adorable!

I'm almost wishing for rain so I have a reason to carry my pretty new umbrella. It's adorable! and a nice generous size when it's up, keeps me nicely sheltered :) If you're after something useful but still cute I would absolutely recommend giving this one a go!

Eddie Mcpherson

Very pleased with the quality for the price!

These are for the painting project in my daughter's Second grade class. The finished umbrellas will be auctioned at the school's spring fundraiser. Gray will be the background for the children's designs. They look very neat and the loop handles feel sturdy. I tried the opening button and the canopy came up quickly with no fuss. Everything is ready for the class to get started. Very pleased with the quality for the price!

Brittney Pacheco

For years it was a golf umbrella.

Atlanta is home for me. It isn't the hottest place around, but there are plenty of days when the sunshine gets pretty wearing.About ten years back I visited Thailand. Have you ever felt that kind of heat ? November, and still in the nineties every day. I started noticing what people there did to cope with the sunshine. Little sun umbrellas all over the place. Most weren't very big and the handles were short, which seemed sensible for carrying around. Since that trip I've taken an umbrella along whenever I expect to spend much time outside in sunshine. For years it was a golf umbrella. Now I'm using this Haven one and much prefer carrying it. It gives me a comfortable patch of shade without having that great big umbrella to lug about. Yesterday there was a small gathering at our neighborhood pool. I went over on foot with this above me. Probably five women wanted to know about it, what it cost and where they could find one. And yes, I'm a man. Other men have given me a little grief now and then over carrying shade. My answer is that I'm comfortable enough being a man that an umbrella doesn't threaten it. Usually there's not much left for them to say. Anyway. Get one out and actually use it. Those days when the sun just bears down on you become a whole different proposition when you can bring your own shade.

Miguel Knox

Wind can be a real nuisance out there.

Being a teacher means bus duty at both ends of the school day, whatever the weather. Wind can be a real nuisance out there. This umbrella has been a welcome help, (especially with all this spring rain!) and so far it has kept its shape and kept me dry without any trouble. I'd happily recommend it to anyone doing the same job!

Carly Davenport

Found this under the tree and couldn't be more delighted.

Found this under the tree and couldn't be more delighted. The cream white is beautiful and the fabric has a lovely feel to it. Everything was in nice shape when I opened it, and it works just as nicely. Almost has me waiting for the next rainy day so I can carry it

Alyssa Sampson

Really pleased with what we paid.

For the price I wasn't expecting much beyond umbrellas that would look nice for our wedding. They turned out to be a pleasant surprise. They look smart without being fussy, and feel more substantial than I had pictured. We wanted something to offer guests if the weather turns, rather than have everyone standing about getting wet. There is a decent amount of cover when open, though two people would need to stay close. I can see these being useful after the day as well. Really pleased with what we paid.

Sylvia Fleming

For what I paid the quality seemed very good.

A friend of mine lives somewhere it rains all the time, so this was her going away gift. I was impressed when I took it out to look at it. The pink is very pretty and the oval handle gives it a different look without being overdone. For what I paid the quality seemed very good. I also needed some help after buying it and the service was excellent. It was nice to have the gift sorted for her party, and I was pleased to give her something useful as well as attractive.

Bridget Dawson

I think they're good value for the quality!

The pink is a lovely clear colour and the whole umbrella feels nicely made. Fabric has some substance to it and the button action is smooth. I gave several as Christmas presents and everyone seemed happy with them, especially how they look. I think they're good value for the quality!

A GOOD FIND AND ONE HAPPY MOTHER.

A GOOD FIND AND ONE HAPPY MOTHER.My mother had been hunting for an umbrella like this for ages, but kept coming away from the shops because of the prices. I said I'd look online for her and see what was available. This came out much better value than the ones she'd been looking at and she is very happy with it.feels like a decent quality umbrella, not something cheap just because it costed less. I might well get her another to keep handy!

James Townsend

Very solid construction.

Roomy for one; two can squeeze together. Very solid construction. The loop handle is comfortable even with a firm grip. It has coped nicely with ordinary breezy weather. For sizing, think roughly 105cm across when open, then about 40cm long once folded down. Weight is around 390g. Those are more useful figures to me than just calling an umbrella 'large' or 'compact'.

Latasha Norman

I'm REALLY PLEASED with this one!!!

My new umbrella has AUTOMATIC OPENING & CANOPY CLOSING, all from the same button. After that I press the telescoping stem down by hand. The closed oval handle feels comfortable & gives a nice grip. Quite easy to carry considering it opens to about 105cm across.Enough room for me without feeling squeezed. I'm REALLY PLEASED with this one!!!

Clifford Mays

Nice umbrella, roomy feels fairly solid.

Up to now, this is pretty much what I wanted. I'd used several little folding umbrellas and wanted more coverage without giving up being able to fold it. This opens wide, and I can only just get it into my work bag (the compartment I normally put my power cord in). Nice umbrella, roomy feels fairly solid.I don't know about putting it through years of rough use, but it cost about $25, so there's that. The handle could be more comfortable. If you're planning to hold it for ages (what for?) you might want something different. For fifteen minutes though, it gives me plenty of cover, and I can fit it in my bag. Because however good an umbrella is, it isn't much use if you've left it behind when the rain comes.

Vernon Pierce

I like that it folds for carrying rather than being a long stick.

Even a folding umbrella is one more thing to lug about when the rain never arrives. Still, this opens much wider than my old cheap one, with comfortable cover for me and room for another person if u squeeze close. The loop handle is quite nice to hold, and all those ribs make the frame look substantial. I like that it folds for carrying rather than being a long stick.

Caitlin Hughes

EXCELLENT umbrella.

EXCELLENT umbrella. It feels well made and the oval handle gives me a secure hold, which is reassuring when the rain starts. The trade-off is that it isn't the tiniest compact umbrella. There is decent cover when it's open, and that means a fairly substantial package when it's folded. It fits in my tote, but it isn't something I forget is there. A fair exchange for arriving drier. Update after three years! Still getting use from it. I came home in a proper downpour tonight and was reminded why I kept this one. I don't carry it every single day, so it hasn't had constant use, but it has held up well. The only part I grumble about is packing it away. The button closes the canopy, but I still have to shorten the shaft myself before it's ready to put away. I don't mind that extra step most of the time, though when I'm hurrying indoors I wish it were all one movement. Not a fault, just a little fuss.

Reginald Kramer

Those are small drawbacks compared with how much use I got from it.

I took this along for our East Coast trip in July, with long days at ball parks, amusement parks and walking around cities. Having some shade overhead made being out in the sun more comfortable, and it covered me well when it rained too. It packs away conveniently and the spring opening is useful. I do find the button a little firm, and it's heavier than I expected for a folding umbrella. Those are small drawbacks compared with how much use I got from it. It will be coming out at home as well!

Ann Sharp

This has worked out well.

I wanted to replace my old umbrella with one that still gave decent coverage but was less awkward to take along. This has worked out well. There is room for the two of us if we stand close, and it feels nicely made when the weather gets a little blustery. My one complaint is that closing it isn't entirely a button job. The canopy shuts automatically, then you push the telescoping section in yourself. That took a few goes to get familiar with, but it hasn't bothered me since. I would consider getting another to leave at work so I don't have to remember this one every day.
