Replaced the one I left behind on my last trip with this one.

Replaced the one I left behind on my last trip with this one. Folded up it slips into my bag or backpack without making things crowded or heavy. There's another kept in the car too. Most days I don't give it a thought, but when it suddenly starts raining I'm very glad to have one within reach.

Coverage is enough for me, though I wouldn't choose it for two people.

Some care seems to have gone into this umbrella: there are 30 ribs supporting the canopy, and the frame has a flexible rather than brittle feel. The price isn't exactly low, but provided the joints hold up over time I think it's a reasonable purchase. Coverage is enough for me, though I wouldn't choose it for two people. One small niggle is getting all the fabric tidy when wrapping it closed. It takes a little patience rather than just one quick wrap.Just an observation. This is a portable umbrella, and that matters when judging the size and the mechanism. The button shuts the canopy, not the whole telescoping shaft; you compress that yourself before it is ready to open again. I would rather have that arrangement and something I can carry around than expect it to do everything a much larger umbrella does. Overall the design makes sense to me.

Beautifully finished.

Beautifully finished. Its looks were what drew me to it, but I find the button action just as pleasing. One press opens it out, another gathers the canopy back in, then I push the shaft down by hand. Quite a neat size once it's all folded away. The little details make it feel special rather than just another umbrella. It gives me a surprising amount of pleasure to carry something this lovely on a miserable rainy day.

This gives me noticeably better cover.

At 5'10", I tend to find tiny folding umbrellas leave too much of me out in the rain. This gives me noticeably better cover. The automatic canopy action is handy, and the frame feels sturdy when a breeze catches it. It isn't the tiniest or lightest thing to carry, but I'd rather have the extra coverage than shave off a little weight. I have a habit of leaving umbrellas behind, and this is the sort I come back for.

Ryan Conrad

Okay, I'm impressed.

Okay, I'm impressed. There is a surprising amount of cover once this is open, and it feels much more substantial than I expected. Chicago weather can make an umbrella feel like a bad idea, but this has handled my rainy outings well. The oval handle is comfortable for me to hold. It folds down, yes, but you still notice the weight, so I don't always carry it. For concerts, picnics or those days when keeping my hair dry actually matters, I'm very glad to have it.

Rita Schaefer

I'm very happy with it.

Folded up, it looks fairly modest, then you press the button and suddenly there's a proper umbrella over you. We call it the little show-off. That one-button automatic action is what makes this thing for me. A press to open, another to gather the canopy, then you push the telescoping section down yourself. Having that quick button action makes the old manual sort feel like work. If you haven't used an automatic before, give the mechanism a practice indoors first. I'm very happy with it.

But honestly, the quality does give a good account for itself.

I have always felt that a good umbrella is something you find out about after using it, not just from how it looks in a picture. I was a little doubtful about this one at first because I did not know what to expect for the money. But honestly, the quality does give a good account for itself. It has a nice appearance and the frame has a substantial feel without being a huge umbrella to carry about. After using it in rain I can say it is doing the purpose I wanted it for. My only wish is that packing it away was quite as effortless as opening. The button folds the canopy, but you still have to compress the telescoping shaft yourself to reset it. Not a fault, just an extra effort in the convenience.Price: B+Convenience: BOverall: B+

Overall I'm pleased with it and think it's a good buy.

Press the button and it's up, which is exactly the convenience I wanted. The canopy is roughly 105cm across and gives useful shade, though I'd personally have preferred a bit more room. It feels well put together for a compact umbrella, just not the extra big cover I had in mind. Overall I'm pleased with it and think it's a good buy.

We had beige umbrellas ready for our wedding day.

We had beige umbrellas ready for our wedding day. The weather stayed dry in the end, so now we keep them in the cars instead. There's a decent amount of cover and the fabric has done well on breezy wet days. My only niggle is that the loop handle isn't quite as comfortable as I'd hoped. Still, they're nice umbrellas and I think we got good value!

Laura Little

This umbrella is a bit too long for my usual purse.

This umbrella is a bit too long for my usual purse. It also feels heavier than the one I used before. I would have preferred a shorter one for traveling. After rearranging the contents, I managed to fit it diagonally and close the purse, so carrying it became less awkward.

Kristie Scott

Also, the button collapses the canopy, not the whole umbrella.

Overall: A good choice to leave in the car and take along when traveling. It gives a useful amount of coverage without taking up the space of a full-length umbrella. I'd still be a little cautious on gusty days, and the automatic action doesn't mean every part of putting it away is automatic. For the money, this has been a useful purchase. Seeing it opened out after carrying it folded makes the canopy seem surprisingly generous. The button is handy when getting out of the car, although I wouldn't say it makes the whole process effortless. Mine lives beside the driver's seat and has become the umbrella I reach for most often. If storage space weren't an issue, I would still lean toward a full-size one for regular use, particularly when rain comes with a lot of wind. There are quite a few folding sections here, which is part of how it packs down so neatly. It feels fine for normal rain, but I don't treat it as something to hold carelessly against a strong gust. I pay attention to which way I'm pointing it rather than expecting it to look after itself. Also, the button collapses the canopy, not the whole umbrella. You then have to push the telescoping section down manually before it is ready to open again. That extra push is my main reservation about the automatic feature; convenient, yes, but not entirely one-handed from start to finish. On balance, the coverage and small storage size make it worth keeping around. The limitations aren't enough to put me off, and I'd consider buying the same one again when I eventually need a replacement.

Jimmy Rosales

This umbrella has been a nice surprise, though.

Well, walking the dogs at lunchtime means I can't just wait for the rain to pass, especially in summer. I wanted something with a bit more cover and didn't expect miracles at this price. This umbrella has been a nice surprise, though. It feels decently put together and does what I need on our walks. Is it going to be the last umbrella I ever own? Doubt it, but I think it's money well spent!

Edward Grant

Really cute, although I didn't give much thought to the black underneath when I picked the cream white... I wanted it for a birthday party decoration, so the appearance mattered more to me than how it worked in rain. From above it has the look I wanted, but the inside is a lot darker than I pictured for the display. I could still use it, just had to be a little more particular about how it was placed.

Hunter Payne

Well worth spending a bit more.

Im small, and walking around the city with an enormous umbrella means getting in everyone's way.I wanted something manageable but not flimsy. This feels much more substantial than the cheap ones I've tried, and the size works for me. I do most things on foot, so a decent umbrella earns its keep pretty quickly.Well worth spending a bit more.

Desiree Ruiz

Glad I did.

After several disappointing umbrellas I thought it was worth paying a bit more for something sturdier. Glad I did. This one opens nicely and feels much more substantial than the ones I was replacing. There is comfortable coverage for me, with a little room to spare, without having to carry a long umbrella around. It folds down neatly enough to keep in the car door storage too. I'd recommend it if you're tired of flimsy umbrellas and want something that feels properly made.

Two years of use in Guatemala and this umbrella is still going!

Two years of use in Guatemala and this umbrella is still going! During the rainy half of the year i was taking it out daily, so it got plenty of use. Never let me down. Opens to a useful size but folds small enough to bring along without a fuss. if you want something that holds up to regular rain, i can certainly recommend it.

Whitney Clements

Still a useful umbrella.

Nicely made umbrella and the coverage is good when the rain comes down. The one thing keeping me from five stars is how much of a pull I feel when a gust catches the canopy. I'm only 5 foot 4 and 112 lbs., so holding it steady takes some effort. It's fine for everyday rain, but for me a smaller canopy might have been the better choice. Still a useful umbrella.

Sheryl English

So cute - honestly, just lovely.

So cute - honestly, just lovely. I've had compliments on it already. The first couple of times I put it away I couldn't get the fabric lying neatly. Just looked bulky. I was trying to bundle it all together instead of following the folds. Taking an extra moment to straighten it out helped. A bit of a fuss, but I still think it's worth it for how nice it looks. Haven't seen another I'd rather carry! Keeps the rain off well, haven't tried much wind yet. That button is excellent for putting it up and collapsing the canopy.

Melinda Santana

Nice compact shape, feels sturdy, and the push to open is handy.

My little umbrella vanished somewhere, which is how I ended up with this one. Nice compact shape, feels sturdy, and the push to open is handy. Yes, you have to press the shaft back in after the canopy closes. I can't see why that's such a big issue for some people; it takes one firm push and I'm finished!

The umbrella has more weight than I expected, about 390g when I weighed it, although I find that quite manageable to carry. The button position took a little getting used to, especially at first. So generally, it may depend on how you like to hold an umbrella, but for me it is comfortable and works very well.

Debra Hughes

Kept me dry between shots and felt steady when the wind picked up.

Rain doesn't usually stop me playing golf, so I wanted an umbrella worth taking along. Used it on the course last week and... it did just what I needed. Kept me dry between shots and felt steady when the wind picked up. It packs away neatly afterwards too, very happy with it.

" "Where would I find one like that?

On the last wet trip home from work--only a few days back--four separate people had something to say about this umbrella. "Looks a decent size." "That's rather smart." "Where would I find one like that?" And so forth. I hadn't expected an ordinary part of my commute to become a discussion about umbrellas, but apparently people notice a useful-looking one. The interest had already started at work. With it folded beside my desk, colleagues picked it up, looked it over, and wanted to see it opened. There was some amusement at how much umbrella emerged from the folded package. One person tried the button and then asked about putting it away: the button shuts the canopy, while shortening the shaft is something you do by hand. Quite straightforward once you've done it. For walking alone, I find the coverage comfortable rather than something I have to crouch underneath. My wife and I can share it if we walk close together. It isn't a family-sized shelter, but we can hold hands without conducting a running battle between two separate umbrellas, which is worth something. Carrying it has been less of a nuisance than I expected, too. Some supposedly convenient umbrellas become one more awkward thing to manage along with everything else. This folds down to a manageable size, and the weight doesn't make me resent having brought it when the rain stops halfway home. My wife now has one herself and has given the same umbrella to a couple of friends. She takes appearances considerably more seriously than I do (I generally consider being dry a sufficient fashion statement), so her approval probably carries more weight than mine on that score. I've been using mine regularly for over a year. There are a few ordinary marks on the handle, but otherwise it still looks very respectable and works as it did when new. The ribs haven't taken on odd shapes and the opening action remains positive. I've owned umbrellas that felt reassuringly substantial in the shop and merely heavy once I had to carry them everywhere. This seems a much better compromise between something portable and something that feels properly put together. It also looks perfectly reasonable with work clothes. Equally, I don't feel strangely overdressed carrying it in jeans at the weekend. That might sound a small point, but an umbrella spends quite a lot of its life being carried rather than actually sheltering anyone. Looking closely at the canopy and frame, the finish seems careful. Nothing about it gives me that impression of a collection of loose bits waiting to disagree with one another. I can't tell you anything about how it was made; I can only report how it's held up for me. BOTTOM LINE: If I eventually wear this one out, I'll be looking for another just like it. It has earned its place by the door.

Colton Church

I'd certainly recommend it!

The automatic opening on this umbrella has been really convenient. A quick press and it's ready, with no fiddling about, and the canopy closes neatly using the same button. I'm in Florida and we've had plenty of rain this season, so it has had regular use already. It's attractive as well and looks much as I expected from the picture. It gives me enough room that I don't have to hunch my shoulders together to stay under it. So far my clothes have stayed dry without drips finding their way in round my neck. We haven't had much wind while I've been out, so I can't honestly rate that side of it. For rain and everyday use, though, I've been delighted. I'd certainly recommend it!

The canopy kept my clothes dry...

The canopy kept my clothes dry...I didn't even need my raincoat. BUT, it's more cumbersome to carry folded than I expected, and fully compressing the telescoping section takes a firm push. Nothing wrong with the shelter it gives, just not the quick, light little umbrella I wanted to carry around.

Bethany Fitzgerald

If your wrists tire easily, the weight and grip are worth considering.

The umbrella looks smart and the button action is excellent, both opening and gathering the canopy. It feels built to last. Two little things keep it from five stars for me:1) The oval loop isn't quite the grip I prefer. In wind I have to pay attention to how I'm holding it, and I'd rather have a longer section to wrap my fingers round. If your wrists tire easily, the weight and grip are worth considering.2) Getting it neatly folded takes a little fuss. The canopy folds in quickly, but I have to arrange the fabric fairly carefully to make a tidy, compact bundle. Not a major problem, just less convenient when I'm in a hurry! Hope that is useful. Still a good umbrella overall.

Isaac Wilkerson

Packing it up is straightforward too.

This is the sort of umbrella I can leave in my backpack rather than decide each morning whether to take it. It doesn't monopolise the space, yet opens quickly to a useful size and keeps the rain off properly. Packing it up is straightforward too.Umbrellas don't get much thought around here because we only need them now and then. People grab whatever is handy, then grumble when the weather actually turns wet. I've been asked more than once whether a decent folding umbrella even exists. Now I can point to this one and say, "There's your answer!" Once people see how little room it needs in my bag, they understand why I keep it with me.

You still need to press the telescoping sections together yourself.

Having used an automatic umbrella for years, I really miss that button whenever I end up with a manual one. It is especially useful when I'm carrying things and trying to get through a doorway in the rain. My husband keeps borrowing mine, which worries me because I can easily imagine him putting it down somewhere and forgetting it. I have now bought another for my son at college and he is just as taken with it. One point worth knowing: the button brings the canopy down, not the entire shaft. You still need to press the telescoping sections together yourself. I don't find that inconvenient since I can get under cover first and finish packing it away there. There is enough shelter for me without carrying a full length umbrella around, and when folded it goes into a backpack or a roomy handbag. That's the combination that makes it so useful.

Lorraine Mathews

Delighted to have it now.

I'd admired this umbrella at a local museum but left it too late to get one there. Delighted to have it now. The button for opening AND shutting the canopy is very convenient. Used it in heavy rain today and it covered me well, with the flexible ribs coping fine when a breeze caught it. Seems good quality -- quite substantial for a folding umbrella, and there's plenty of cover underneath.

The oval handle sits securely in my hand and the canopy gives me a good amount of cover. I can hold it high enough to watch where I'm going without feeling like I'm wrestling with it! I still have to look around the edge to see people coming, of course, but it feels comfortable and manageable rather than getting in my way.

Joanna Velazquez

A nice looking thing, I must say.

It came neatly packed and is a very "smart" looking umbrella. I wanted a decent canopy, but was wondering if I would find it tiring to hold for say ..... twenty minutes. I am a woman and don't want something enormous just to stay dry. This seems a sensible size for me, and the weight is manageable. I haven't had the weather to judge how it behaves in wind or a proper downpour yet. For now I am happy to keep it. A nice looking thing, I must say. Many thanks!!

Hayden Drake

I'd recommend it without hesitation, good style and good quality.

Absolutely FIRST RATE for looks and build, one of the nicest umbrellas I've had. The pictures don't quite show how good it looks in person. The frame feels substantial and the ribs have some give instead of feeling brittle. It's a compact umbrella but doesn't feel cheap when it's open. I'd recommend it without hesitation, good style and good quality.

Rickey Donaldson

The black is just as pictured, nice and plain.

Honestly, I like this umbrella a lot It opens wider than I expected from the folded size! With a baby and bags to juggle, the button is a big help and there's decent cover for me with the baby close in. The black is just as pictured, nice and plain. It feels sturdy too. Exactly the sort of everyday umbrella I was hoping for.

Corey Prince

That's probably where it gets most of its use now.

A year of using this has left me more impressed with it than with most umbrellas I've owned. I originally wanted one for backpacking, where holding an umbrella gives me some air rather than getting clammy inside a raincoat. This isn't the very lightest thing in my pack, but the coverage has been worth carrying. It did what I needed on a three-day hike, and before long I was taking it to work as well. That's probably where it gets most of its use now. Plenty of my earlier umbrellas started looking tired fairly quickly, so it's reassuring that this one still opens neatly and folds back into shape after a year. The automatic opening is convenient, as is being able to collapse the canopy with the same button. Packing it away still means shortening the shaft myself, which soon becomes routine. It isn't an enormous shelter, and sideways rain will still find a way around the edges, but for everyday use and walking I have found it more than sufficient.

Opened one to check and the size was nice.

I ordered beige umbrellas for the wedding party because rain was in the forecast. In the end we had dry weather so they stayed folded, but they looked just how i hoped. Opened one to check and the size was nice. They would have been lovely in the wedding photos!

Why did I keep putting up with such flimsy umbrellas before ??

I read a good many reviews before deciding on this umbrella and the positive comments helped me make up my mind. Its first outing was in an Illinois rainstorm, which gave me a fair chance to see what it was like. The frame moved a little with the gusts but still felt secure, and the cover was ample for me. You can see the closely spaced ribs when you open it and the whole thing feels properly put together. Why did I keep putting up with such flimsy umbrellas before ?? A very good purchase in my opinion, and one I would certainly recommend.

Candace Jacobson

Very dependable umbrella, including on gusty days.

Very dependable umbrella, including on gusty days. I've been using it for two years now and it's still going well. I hesitated over spending more because I didn't want another umbrella that felt flimsy as soon as the weather turned. This has been worth it. If I had to find a downside, a little more room underneath would be nice, but I'm very happy with it.

Stanley Hutchinson

Took this along to the event this year.

Took this along to the event this year. Nothing extreme weather wise, but I did have it open through a few gusty spells and it didn't turn over. Mostly I loved having my own patch of shade. People noticed and wanted in on it too.Not a giant umbrella, but plenty useful when you're standing around in the sun.

Haven't had rain to try it in yet but the button feels great u barely have to press to get it open and the loop is comfortable to hold seems pretty solid if u want something easy to put up this seems a good choice I keep trying that button because it opens so easily

Everything looked tidy when I took it out of the packaging.

Once spread out, this umbrella gives a decent amount of coverage considering the size of it folded. I had imagined it might be a little wider, but there is enough room for me underneath without having to hold it at an odd angle. Folded up it is quite manageable to carry along on a walk, though not something I would try to squeeze into a small coat pocket. The mechanism seems sturdy enough and the loop handle is firmly attached. Everything looked tidy when I took it out of the packaging. I would recommend it to someone who wants a compact umbrella with a proper place to grip rather than a tiny knob at the end. The handle is fairly plain, but it serves its purpose and I like having that closed loop. There is a sleeve included to put it away in when you have finished using it. While the umbrella is open I can tuck the sleeve into a pocket, which is better than having another loose thing to carry. If I could change anything it would be to add a little more texture to the handle. I would prefer a less smooth surface for holding with wet hands, although I have not found it difficult to manage. That is really a preference of mine rather than anything wrong with the umbrella, and I would not want a big bulky grip on something meant to fold down. Overall I think it is good for the money, and the plain black looks quite smart when out walking.

We ordered four umbrellas for our tap number and weren't expecting them to be quite this nice. My classmates agreed they looked more like umbrellas we'd actually use than props. They open readily and feel solid, though a little heavier than ideal for the routine. After our final performance it was raining outside the theater, which made us laugh. We had brought them for the dancing and ended up needing them for the walk out too.

Lucas Rocha

Much more umbrella than I had pictured, in a good way.

Much more umbrella than I had pictured, in a good way. It seems solid and the handle sits comfortably in my hand. Not to heavy either, which matters when I'm standing with it for a while. I am outside for the school lunch break and wanted some shade over my head, as putting sunscreen through my hair isn't really an option. It has been very useful for that. A good purchase for me and hopefully one I will be using for a long while.

Gavin Simpson

What a cute umbrella!

What a cute umbrella! My boy was so excited the first time he opened it.....a little too keen to keep pressing the button. It pops up nicely, but getting the pole pushed down again is more of a grown up job. I do that part for him rather than having him force it. Happy with it overall, just something to supervise instead of letting the kids treat it as a toy.

Pam Mullins

They should get more use as shade on our theme park outings.

Bought these for my daughters' Halloween pictures and they worked beautifully as props. They looked lovely in the photos, and the girls were very pleased to have an umbrella each. They are 2 and 4, so these aren't something I just hand over and leave them to operate, but they could hold them for the pictures with a bit of help. The button is easier for me than fussing with a little metal catch, and I do the pushing down part when we pack up. I also like the oval handle, it gives them a decent place to hold without trying to grip the thin pole. We don't get a lot of rain here in Southern California, so I can't say I've given them much of a wet-weather test. They should get more use as shade on our theme park outings. For the costume pictures alone I thought they were a really good buy, and they'll still be useful afterwards.

Marissa Barajas

Excellent value, with a canopy comfortably sized for one person.

Excellent value, with a canopy comfortably sized for one person. The rib framework feels more substantial than several similarly priced folding umbrellas I considered. Nothing about the opening action feels loose or flimsy. Provided it is treated sensibly, I would expect a useful few seasons of service from it.

Jeanne Mays

I still think it looks nice.

Only small surprise was the green being deeper than I thought from the photos. Not an ugly green at all, just not the pale shade I expected. I still think it looks nice. I use it mostly to get some shade as my skin is very fair and gets red easily. Having sunscreen all over me isn't my favourite feeling. It is handy being able to put this in my bag and take it out whenever the sun gets too much.

Nathan Valdez

Useful for shade as well as keeping the rain off.

Needed some cover when walking round the golf course and this has been just right. Useful for shade as well as keeping the rain off.I would recommend the umbrella itself without hesitation. Getting it to me was a bit of a muddle, but now that I have it I'm happy with it!!

Dakota Cervantes

Love the coverage on this umbrella.

Love the coverage on this umbrella. My husband uses it between the parking garage and his work building and it suits that walk perfectly. Closing needs a little attention: the button folds the canopy quickly, then it takes a firm push to reset the shaft. Keep it pointed away from your face!

Shelby Harvey

No wrestling to keep it over my head and it still looks good.

After buying more than ten umbrellas in a year, from cheap ones to the supposedly better sort, I was fed up with spending on them. This cost more than I wanted to pay but six months later I'm glad I did...in the rain and blustery weather around Boston it has been dependable. No wrestling to keep it over my head and it still looks good. The price seems less unreasonable when I think about how often I was shopping for another umbrella before. I'd sooner pay once and be satisfied.

Kirsten Watts

A good umbrella overall, with a bit of seating strategy required!

This is a handy umbrella, and the oval loop handle gives it a slightly different look without being fussy. What I hadn't really pictured from the description was how much room the canopy would need once I was sitting among other people. I saw compact and thought about the folded size, which, of course, isn't the same as the space it takes up open. We had rain during our double-header and this black umbrella did a good job of keeping me covered. Being able to open it with a button was useful when the rain started, too. My main reason for having it at games, though, was shade, and that needed a little more thought. With the canopy directly in front of me I was shaded nicely but also missing some of the action. Tilting it back helped, although then I had to adjust it as the sun moved. Nothing terrible, just something I hadn't considered before taking it along. For watching baseball it's useful, provided you remember that your shade can get in somebody else's way. There is enough coverage for me, but the edge can creep into the next seat's space pretty easily. I'd look for an end seat rather than squeeze it into a packed row. A good umbrella overall, with a bit of seating strategy required!
