the loop handle is different.

Several months of walking to work and back with this, a few times a week, and it's served me well. It feels properly made. My one niggle is the sleeve sliding about unless I hold it near the end, not a big issue considering. Had some curious looks and a few puzzled ones too....the loop handle is different. Not the tiniest thing to carry, but the look and how well it works make up for that. I'd recommend it!!

Oh I am so pleased with this umbrella!

Oh I am so pleased with this umbrella! Delivery was quick and it had been packed with care. The outer box was much bigger than it needed to be and looked a bit battered, but everything inside was protected and the umbrella was absolutely fine. I wanted something with more coverage for my tall 6 year old, not one of those teeny toddler umbrellas that he has already outgrown. This gives him room without being a long umbrella to carry about. The gray fabric is really lovely in person and the whole thing looks nicely put together. Around here it seems to be either tiny umbrellas for little ones or great big ones, so finding a compact one that opens out properly was a relief! He is delighted to have his own proper umbrella. We're on Christmas break and he is already hoping for rain when school starts again so he can take it along! The push button opening is a hit too. I especially like that the handle is a closed oval loop, it gives him something to hold onto and isn't a long hook sticking out. A small thing but I appreciate it when he's carrying it about...happy mama here <3

It seems well made and the loop handle is easy to hold.

We chose this because we liked its appearance most, and seeing it in person hasn't disappointed us. My son wants to carry it every time we go out - he's quite taken with it. It seems well made and the loop handle is easy to hold. A simple umbrella, but apparently that's enough to make him very happy - he keeps showing it to us.

Had that new smell!

Had that new smell! We left it open to air for a day or two and it was fine after that. The button is easy enough for him, though I help get it packed down again. He soon discovered the obvious thing about an umbrella, you need a hand to carry it. Not ideal when he wants to pull his wagon and pick up worms in the rain. So i usually end up holding it while he gets on with the important worm collecting. He does like it.

The blue is so cheerful, makes going out in rain little nicer.

The blue is so cheerful, makes going out in rain little nicer. I've only had it for two days and already needed it twice. When I opened it I didn't expect that much room from a folding umbrella. Beside my husband's one it doesn't look small at all. The whole thing feels nicely put together too. I'm hoping to keep using this for a long time, so far it was a good choice for me. P.s. The blue is not quite so bright as the photo shows. Only slightly less, still very pretty.

Coverage seems good for normal rain.

Open width is about 105cm; folded length about 40cm. Weight is roughly 390g, so not a tiny pocket umbrella despite folding down. The button opens it promptly. Press it again and the canopy draws together, then the telescoping shaft needs a firm push back by hand. That's separate from the automatic part. Green on top, black underneath. There are 30 ribs, with some flex in them rather than a completely rigid feel. The oval loop handle is enclosed, not the usual curved hook, and gives me a reasonable grip. Comes with a sleeve for putting it away once folded; I let it dry before doing that. Coverage seems good for normal rain. Feels solid enough; as a kid I would probably have spent hours opening and shutting it just for the mechanism. I wouldn't treat it as storm equipment, though. My main reservation is the packed length. It still needs a decent amount of space in a bag, which wasn't quite what I pictured from 'compact'. Four stars for a useful umbrella, just not as small to carry as I'd hoped.

Wonderful!!!

Wonderful!!! So happy with this umbrella, and the cream white color is gentle looking, not a harsh white. It opens by button, closes the canopy the same way, then the pole needs pressing down, a little effort but nothing terrible. Not the lightest thing, still comfortable to take along... for the money I am very satisfied, all these little things are just small matters. Thank you so much!🫶

My grandson is very taken with this umbrella.

My grandson is very taken with this umbrella. The black fabric feels substantial and the ribs look securely fitted. It's bigger than a little child's umbrella, so I can hold it over both of us comfortably. We've only opened it indoors so far. Waiting for a rainy day to see it properly in use.

Shawna Pope

The grip area is rather small.

Pros:1. Packs down neatly for a bag.2. Useful coverage when I'm carrying the baby in the rain, without having a full length umbrella to lug around.3. Rain has stayed outside where it belongs, even during quite wet outings.4. Button opening is handy at the car door, and being able to collapse the canopy with it helps getting back in.5. The oval loop gives a decent way to carry it.6. Six months of use and the mechanism is still working smoothly.Cons;1. The grip area is rather small. If I squeeze my hand right around it, my thumb ends up too close to the button. I have to pay attention to where I hold it, particularly when it is breezy. Otherwise it has been useful when we're out as a family.

Victor Doyle

Glad I did, and I'd recommend it.

Having a sleeve to put this in is handy when I carry it about. There is room for a friend beside me in the rain, provided we walk close together. The green is a little deeper than I pictured, but I do like it. It has felt steady in the breezes I've used it in so far. The closed loop handle is easy to hold onto, which saves me worrying about it slipping from my hand. I'd seen this sort of umbrella on a television programme and wanted to try one. Glad I did, and I'd recommend it.

Edgar Mccoy

My only small reservation is the weight

I work at a prison in California and spend a lot of my day walking outside. We're out in a valley with very little shelter, so the wind comes from all directions & the rain rarely seems to fall straight down. I've been through more umbrellas than I care to count. Some sounded great when I bought them, but didn't prove much use once I actually needed them. There are restrictions at work on umbrellas with long points, which ruled out quite a few of the ones I looked at. I came across this compact one and decided to give it a chance. Once open it covers a good area, but I don't feel as though I'm lugging a huge umbrella around. It has felt solid on my walks, including when the breeze keeps changing direction. So far I've been able to just walk rather than constantly watch what the canopy is doing. Five people remarked on it during my first day using it. Getting compliments on an umbrella is a slightly ridiculous thing, but when you're outside as much as we are, one that does its job is something people notice. I passed along the details to a few who asked. I wasn't keen on spending more money after the disappointments I've already had, but I'm glad I tried this one. If it lasts me a couple of wet seasons I'll consider it money well spent. My only small reservation is the weight; you do notice it after carrying it a while.

Kathleen Wyatt

For walking around the city in the rain, I'd certainly recommend it.

I don't understand people who leave their umbrella behind just because the walk is short. From my office to the parking garage is enough distance to get thoroughly wet, thank you. On dark rainy evenings I want to reach the car dry, not console myself that it was only a few minutes. This one has been practical for that. It covers me comfortably and folds down when I'm done. Personally, I'd make the sleeve slightly roomier. Getting the fabric arranged just right before putting it away is more fiddly than I'd like. I'm not asking for a huge case, just a little extra space so I don't have to fuss EVERY time. As for the umbrella itself, it's sturdy and has had a year's use without showing much wear. It does its everyday job well. For walking around the city in the rain, I'd certainly recommend it.

Mandy Cuevas

My son is delighted though.

There hasn't been much rain since it arrived, so we haven't had a proper long outing with it yet. My son is delighted though. He carries it about and wants to be the one pressing the button. He can pop the canopy open and shut, I finish putting it away. Very important job when you're two and a half apparently. Feels well made so far. We'll see after more use!

Isabella Harrell

It works great!

The opening action feels strong and the canopy stays nicely in place. It works great! At around 40cm folded it isn't the tiniest umbrella, and I wouldn't mind a touch more cover for that size, but oh well. It feels like a quality piece overall. I keep it in my trunk so it's there when I need it, and I've been happy using it.

Wesley Levine

Second one for me, because I managed to leave the first on a plane.

Second one for me, because I managed to leave the first on a plane. Not because there was anything wrong with it. I was annoyed enough about losing it that I ordered another the next day, rather than try something different. I really like this umbrella and think it feels worth considerably more than the asking price. I'd still want it if it cost a fair bit more. And yes, women have actually come over to ask about my umbrella...which sounds made up, but isn't.

Gordon Bradley

That's mostly a good thing, with a couple of catches.

Rain here has a habit of getting properly nasty just as I have to walk to another class, so having an umbrella with me all the time seemed sensible. Being able to pop it open with the button is useful when I've already got a bag on and don't want to wrestle with it. Folded up, it fits in my backpack without taking over, and carrying it all day hasn't been much of a burden. Once it's up, though, there's a fair amount of umbrella. That's mostly a good thing, with a couple of catches. The good part - I can cover myself without leaving my backpack sticking out in the rain. My laptop goes everywhere with me so keeping the bag covered matters rather more than having dry shoes! I'm short, and usually everything from about my knees upwards arrives reasonably dry, which was the main point of getting it. The less good part - having a decent canopy doesn't stop rain blowing in from the side. On those miserable gusty days I still get wet trousers and some splashes, so this hasn't magically made the whole walk a dry one. Also, sharing is not quite as generous as it sounds when the other person is much taller. They want it held up where they fit underneath and suddenly I'm the one near the wet edge :/. There's room, just not always where I need it. For everyday carrying it's been a useful compromise between something tiny and something I wouldn't bother bringing. I'd buy it again, but I wouldn't call it total protection from our worst weather.

Susan Raymond

there is something rather lovely about an everyday object that gets its job right. this black umbrella has that quiet sort of beauty, simple when folded and pleasingly shaped when open. stepping into rain feels less like a chore with a little shelter of your own overhead. the small pleasure of pressing a button and being ready should not be underestimated. a sensible purchase, certainly, but one that gives me a little lift as well.

Gail Williamson

For what I need it has been excellent.

I didn't expect to have a favorite umbrella, but somehow this is it. It just does its job without all the wrestling I've had with umbrellas before. Getting one open while you're already getting wet is usually the part I dread, and the button makes that so much easier. I've only used it in regular rain and light wind, not anything dramatic, so I'm not going to pretend I've tested every sort of weather. For what I need it has been excellent. Pressing again brings the canopy down, then I compress the handle and shaft together to pack it away. The compact shape and its little sleeve are nice too. It fits in my backpack for school without becoming the main thing I'm carrying.

Carrie Craig

No problem with the umbrella itself though.

I expected a folding umbrella to be a bit flimsy, but this one is surprisingly substantial. It goes away much more neatly than a long umbrella and opens into a useful size. I was grateful for it last week when the rain suddenly came down hard. The frame seems sturdy and the gray canopy gave me good cover without having to huddle underneath it.Only gripe was with the packing. There was an awful lot of box around something that folds up, so I thought it would be enormous before I got it out. No problem with the umbrella itself though. The button is easy to use and it is much nicer to carry than I expected!

Faith Stone

The automatic action is worth explaining.

A folding umbrella with a sleeve, sized sensibly for one person rather than a couple. The automatic action is worth explaining. Press the button and the shaft extends while the canopy spreads out. Another press pulls the fabric and ribs together, but leaves the telescoping section extended. That section must be pushed down by hand before storage. This is the normal sequence. The shaft feels solid when extended, and there are 30 flexible ribs underneath the canopy. The rib structure has some flexibility, but the whole thing doesn't feel flimsy. The oval handle takes a different grip from a straight handle, but I find it comfortable. The sleeve keeps everything tidy once it has dried.I like the uncomplicated appearance and the amount of cover it provides. It is not an enormous umbrella, just a practical one for carrying around. Good value in my opinion.

Bryce Dorsey

Really sturdy and useful.

After several years of use mine is still all together and opens just as well as ever! Really sturdy and useful. The gray has a lovely look to it and I'm so pleased I picked this one. No reason for me to look for a different umbrella! Still gets full marks from me!

Rickey Hutchinson

Much steadier in breezy rain than the little umbrellas I used before.

Much steadier in breezy rain than the little umbrellas I used before. When it is open there is a surprising amount over your head, considering how it folds away. The stitching and all the little joints look substantial, so I'm hopeful about keeping it for ages. The button operation has rather spoiled me for anything you have to wrestle with. A year and a half on, it still works just as it did at the start. I leave it in the car door; it pokes up a little but doesn't slide about. I mislaid one before and ordered this again instead of hunting around for something different. That probably says how much I like it.

Patty Holden

The handle is the part I have slightly mixed feelings about.

There is a reassuring solidity to this umbrella, and I haven't had it turn inside out on me. With compact umbrellas I'm usually wary of all the folding sections, since every extra joint seems another place for something to give way. This one doesn't feel flimsy like that. Pressing the button produces a good sharp snap as it opens, which is quite satisfying. The canopy gives me decent coverage without making me feel as though I'm taking over the pavement. It's a sensible size for actually walking around with. The handle is the part I have slightly mixed feelings about. That small oval loop is comfortable to grip while I'm using the umbrella, but carrying it shut is a different matter. I tend to slide an umbrella onto my forearm when I need both hands, and the opening here isn't large enough to do that comfortably. It leaves me holding it when I'd rather not be. Clipping the handle to my bag does work nicely though, and feels secure rather than like it might slide off a strap. So there is a benefit to the shape, just not for every way I carry it. I'm glad a sleeve comes with it too. Nothing elaborate, but useful for keeping the folded umbrella tidy.

Joanna Ford

A simple, elegant look and a nicely finished canopy.

A simple, elegant look and a nicely finished canopy. The frame felt substantial too. We only bought it for a wedding shoot, so it probably won't come out much again unless another couple borrows it. If that happens, I think they'll be just as pleased with the look and feel as we were.

Adrienne Watson

The build seems just as good as I remembered.

I've used these umbrellas before so I wasn't buying blind; this time I wanted one that folds down smaller. The build seems just as good as I remembered. Being out in rain is bad enough without an umbrella turning inside out, and this one has stayed in shape for me so far! I've also given a couple as presents and the friends who have them are pleased with theirs!

Gregory Keith

It comes with a sleeve which is useful when putting it away.

Not obvious from seeing it folded but there is a decent amount of cover once it's opened. I first used mine just after a thunderstorm on one of those hot, sticky days. The rain hadn't done much about the humidity and it was still very warm out. I've never really carried an umbrella for shade before, was half expecting to feel all closed in underneath it. Didn't find that at all and was glad to have something over my head. I had my two kids along so not having a long umbrella to carry was nice as well. It comes with a sleeve which is useful when putting it away.

Raymond Dickerson

Its a nice solid umbrella, i like the shape of the loop handle.

Its a nice solid umbrella, i like the shape of the loop handle. I did imagine a bit more room for sharing though. On my own the cover is fine, with my spouse beside me we have to squeeze in quite close. Still glad I picked it, just better as a one person umbrella.

Leslie Zamora

Nice and solid.

Nice and solid. I'm a soccer mom and take it to the field every week. Here in Hawaii we get hot sun as well as showers, so having something for both is useful. It shades me when it's bright and keeps the rain off when it changes. Seems good quality, and I'm hoping to have it for a long time.

Bobby Myers

Easy to carry, looks smart, opens to a useful size and sheds the rain.

Easy to carry, looks smart, opens to a useful size and sheds the rain. Can't ask much else. I've used it enough now to be comfortable with how it's holding up, no tears or other trouble. I'd replace it with the same one if I lost it. Even the packaging was nice.

Adriana Burgess

arrived quickly at where we were staying...

Ordered one for my husband during our Florida holiday.. arrived quickly at where we were staying...he likes shade when watching sports, especially since his skin cancer. We (family) thought Cream White looked suitably smart. :) :) Quality feels good and it gives him a comfortable bit of shade while sitting watching. A gift he appreciated, and a useful thing for him to have along.

Kelli Calhoun

Would have liked more of a dome...

Would have liked more of a dome...not sure that's the proper word. There's plenty of width, just not enough depth for me, so sideways rain can still reach me. I prefer feeling inside the canopy rather than beneath it.Everything does work as it should, though. The button opens and folds it smoothly, it goes in my backpack and doesn't look childish.

Faith Harvey

These have worked out well for me.

These have worked out well for me. The oval loop handles are comfortable even with my fairly small hands. Walking to work, I like having three split between there and home, so I'm not forever finding I've left the only umbrella at the other end. Makes the commute a bit simpler.

Todd Chavez

It feels solid and the button opens it smoothly.

My first Haven umbrella and I'm impressed with the way it's put together. It feels solid and the button opens it smoothly. Pressing it again folds the canopy, then you have to push the telescoping part in yourself. That last push takes a little effort when you're trying to get indoors quickly. Folded it is about 40cm long, and getting all the fabric lined up under the tie takes me a minute. I don't mind that for something which feels this well made. Coverage is good for me on my own, though I wouldn't choose it for two adults. Overall I'm happy with the design and would certainly recommend it!

Amy Brady

I spent ages looking at umbrellas for my 2-year-old daughter.

I spent ages looking at umbrellas for my 2-year-old daughter. So many of the children's ones looked cute but didn't seem very substantial. This one appealed to me more, and I'm pleased with how well it's put together. She loves pressing the button to open it while I hold it with her. I push the shaft down when we put it away, so she doesn't have to manage that part herself. It has stood up nicely to her wanting to play with it. A worthwhile buy.

Shelia Deleon

Only arrived yesterday, so these are first impressions.

Only arrived yesterday, so these are first impressions. The button opens it cleanly and closes the canopy just as neatly. Fabric feels substantial and there's plenty of room underneath for one. Not golf-umbrella big, but not tiny either. It packs down well enough, though I need a few rainy outings before judging it properly.

Danny Olsen

The beige has a gentle look to it.

Easy to carry & simple to put up or take down, but what I like most is how pleasant it looks overhead. The beige has a gentle look to it. Here in Portland, OR (plenty of cloudy & rainy days), an umbrella gets seen quite a lot, so that matters to me! An old favourite I bought in Philadelphia in 1999 was stolen at a train station. It's nice to have one I enjoy carrying again & not just something to keep the rain off!

Bill Bernard

A good choice if you're looking to replace your everyday umbrella.

The loop handle sits comfortably in my hand and can clip onto my purse handle when I'm not using the umbrella. There's enough cover for me without feeling oversized. The gray looks smart and modern, even on one of those very gloomy days. We get frequent afternoon showers where I live, and it has been useful to have along. A good choice if you're looking to replace your everyday umbrella.

Adrian Cardenas

I expected the green to be a bit brighter from the photo...

I expected the green to be a bit brighter from the photo... in person it looks deeper, especially indoors... still green, just not quite what I had in mind. Also getting it into the sleeve again takes patience. I have to smooth all the fabric down first or it feels like I'm trying to put too much in a small space. It's an ok umbrella and the button works fine, but the colour was a big part of why I chose it. Not sure it will be the one I reach for most.

Rachael Franco

Mine came today and the first impression is excellent.

Other umbrella reviews had me a bit discouraged, which is why I spent ages choosing.Mine came today and the first impression is excellent. Opens out to a nice size, and the button both opens it and pulls the canopy closed. The stem needs pressing shorter afterwards. ALSO IT FOLDS DOWN TO A MANAGEABLE SIZE-- handy when it's not actually raining..Everything feels well put together so far. Rain is due tomorrow, so I haven't given it the proper test yet. If there's anything to add after that I'll come back.

Ann Norton

It's easy to spot amongst everyone's things, too.

Meant this to be a present but somehow it stayed with me!(let's keep that quiet!) The blue makes such a nice change from the dull umbrellas I usually carry. It's easy to spot amongst everyone's things, too. Sometimes you buy something for someone else and discover it's exactly what you wanted!

Kim Acevedo

worth spending the extra in my view.

I've carried the black one for years and now my wife and daughter each have one too - folded, it fits into a briefcase without much fuss, but opened up there's proper coverage. Mine has outlasted the flimsy umbrellas I used before; worth spending the extra in my view.

Terrance Hancock

She likes the look, the way it opens, how solid it feels, etc.

I included this with my mother's gift and she was really taken with it. She likes the look, the way it opens, how solid it feels, etc. I had pictured a larger umbrella, so that part was a little disappointing. Nothing else to complain about though. Its nicely put together and she finds the size useful, so overall it was a lovely gift to give!

Kathy Armstrong

The umbrella looks lovely and that oval handle is a nice detail.

I ended up choosing pink and I'm glad I did. The umbrella looks lovely and that oval handle is a nice detail. It feels smooth to hold and gives the whole thing quite a finished look. Seems much pricier than it actually was, plus it feels sturdy rather than flimsy. Happy with this purchase overall.

Suzanne Shannon

A little inconvenient, over all I'm glad I have it.

The coverage is good and I like how quickly the canopy responds to the button. At a doorway it's much easier to bring it in than to fiddle around with all the folds while standing in the rain. One thing I hadn't thought about though, after closing the canopy you need to press the shaft fully back down before it'll open again. That's normal for this type, but still an extra step when you change your mind. A little inconvenient, over all I'm glad I have it.

Terrence Walton

Brittney English

This umbrella seems tough yes.

This umbrella seems tough yes. A wee bit of weight for something folding (all that framework I suppose?). Its performance over these wet weeks has been quite satisfactory. The button action is handy. Once the canopy collapses, the stem needs pushing back in by hand before it will open again.A useful space saving over a non folding umbrella.

Desiree Woods

It's been useful the few times I've needed it.

It's been useful the few times I've needed it. My raincoat has big pockets and most of the folded umbrella fits in one, with the end sticking out.The automatic opening and canopy closing both work smoothly.I haven't tested it in windy weather, but it feels quite solid in the hand and I'd expect it to cope reasonably well.

Paige Tucker

I find that quite comfortable when the sun is out.

My son watched me open it and said, "that's bigger than I thought it would be!" It does give a useful amount of cover for something that folds away. I wanted it mainly for shade, and that has been the best part for me. The pink is on the outside with black underneath, so I am looking up at a dark surface instead of something bright. I find that quite comfortable when the sun is out. It won't shade my entire body at every angle, but it gives me a nice patch to stand under. There is a bit of weight to carry, though I think the coverage makes it worthwhile.

Darrell Reese

Feels solid enough for the weather I've had.

Walking to work is the reason I wanted this, rather than giving up whenever the weather turns wet. It covers my head/shoulders without blocking my view ahead. Feels solid enough for the weather I've had. A longer walk does make the weight noticeable- I'd welcome a more shaped grip(a place for the fingers), while keeping the loop. Happy with it overall.

Craig Blackwell

It has kept me dry and I am glad of that convenience.

Replacing an umbrella I had used for ten years has turned out to be harder than I expected. The old one was bigger when open and had more length in the handle, and I was very used to it. A windy day by the ocean finally finished it off. I couldn't find another quite like it, so I tried this one.The size is convenient folded and it goes in my purse, but opened up it feels more compact than my old favorite. I notice the shorter shaft especially. It is not a bad umbrella, just a different feel in the hand.Sigh. On the plus side, the push button makes opening it outside the car so much easier. No standing there trying to get the canopy up while the rain comes down. It has kept me dry and I am glad of that convenience. I'll keep using it, even if I still miss the extra room of my old one.
