1. Packs down to a reasonable size.2. Good looking canopy with material that feels strong.3. Oval handle is nice in the hand.My old umbrella is still going after about ten years, just short on coverage -- this one gives me much more room. Expect good service from it.

I've stopped experimenting with umbrellas now.
I've stopped experimenting with umbrellas now. These feel well made, hold up to regular use, and the automatic opening is something I wouldn't be without. Still surprises me that such a handy feature isn't standard at this price. It's what I buy for myself, and we keep several around the office too.
Donna Stein
The construction seems very good.
Used this for a little over a month. Nothing to report going wrong. Does what it should. The construction seems very good. A gust caught it while I was out and it coped fine. I'd happily get another. It is noticeably better than the cheap umbrellas I used to pick up with the groceries.
Jeff Woodward
It feels solid and gives a good amount of cover when open.
It feels solid and gives a good amount of cover when open. Folds down quite neatly as well, which I like. There is a bit of weight to it, and someone with less strength might want help resetting it. Press the button to shut the canopy, then push the pole down manually, it takes a firm push. Haven't tried it in actual rain yet. Based on how it feels and works so far, I think it is a very good purchase.

Sent one to my 8 year old Grand Daughter out in Montana.
Sent one to my 8 year old Grand Daughter out in Montana. She's tall for her age and not a tiny little thing, so her instructions were quite definite: NO little kiddie umbrella that leaves her getting wet. Well, this one apparently passed inspection! She had it open in the house and was doing a little dance with it. Plenty of room for her, which was the whole point. She also thinks it looks very grown up, and says the other children keep asking for a turn with it, even a teacher has admired it. Now I'm sitting here in rainy Oregon wondering whether I ought to get one too. The size seems so generous to her but I'm a 6'2" fellow and about 250 lbs, so my idea of roomy may be a different thing altogether. Perhaps I need something enormous instead [my own portable roof]. No complaints from the Grand Daughter though. Would a tractor picture get me dancing round the house as well... Hmmmm.

Doesn't feel heavy to carry either.
I wanted something small to carry but with enough strength that I wasn't worrying about it whenever the wind picked up. Walking between big buildings you get some pretty sharp gusts, so that mattered to me. Gave this one a try and it's been great. I saw other umbrellas turning over on a windy day and mine kept its shape. That was reassuring. The button sends it right up, and pressing again closes the canopy before you push the shaft down yourself. Simple enough. It goes in a childs backpack without much trouble and opens out surprisingly wide. Doesn't feel heavy to carry either. I can see myself getting a few more so everyone in the family has one.
Mary Hester
Goodness, there's a lot of umbrella once you open it!
Goodness, there's a lot of umbrella once you open it! Feels really solid in the hand and springs open nicely. Not exactly something I'd forget I was carrying, so maybe count it as my arm exercise for the day jk. It has that reassuring weight without being ridiculous. For what I paid, I've got nothing to grumble about.
Bryan Mays
It has kept me dry in rain so far.
So cute - honestly, it looks lovely. I've had compliments already. The oval handle isn't the shape I'm used to, though, and at first I wasn't quite sure how I wanted to hold it. Just a different feel. Once I'd used it a few times I stopped noticing that. Worth giving it a chance, because I haven't seen many I like the look of as much! It has kept me dry in rain so far. Can't say about wind yet. The button action for opening and closing the canopy is especially handy.
Kelsey Hebert
I went looking for a folding umbrella after that.
A couple of months ago I got caught out and ended up soaked. Not fun.I went looking for a folding umbrella after that. Had another wet day recently and this kept me dry, which was the whole point. It goes in my backpack easily enough and doesn't take over the bag. There is a tradeoff for that size though, you won't get the cover of one of those huge umbrellas.
Joe Wang
Would definately get the same one again if we needed another.
Our last umbrella was finished off by the wind so my wife and I wanted something that didn't seem so flimsy and this has been a nice surprise. It opens up to a decent size and we can both get under it if we keep close together, for just me there is lots of room. The frame feels solid without being awkward to carry and the button works well. Would definately get the same one again if we needed another.
Wanda Weiss
Very good umbrella, looks lovely as well.
This is my second and i am happy with it. Very good umbrella, looks lovely as well. In strong wind I would still be carefull, no reason to test it against everything the weather can throw. For ordinary rainy days it works really well. Happy I decided to buy another.
Jacob Ayala
I havent had it out in much wind, so I can't really comment there.
Most of my wet-weather walking is between home, the bus and work, so I wanted an umbrella I could actually be bothered to carry. The big one I used before always seemed to be in my line of sight. Seeing an older lady with a smaller umbrella made me think I was making things harder than necessary. Much better! I can keep this held above my eyes and still have useful cover, instead of peering round the edge all the time. I havent had it out in much wind, so I can't really comment there. It isn't a burden in my bag when the sky clears, either. I'm enjoying using it and would come back for another if I ever need to replace it.
Katelyn Terry
Looks smart and feels quite strong.
Looks smart and feels quite strong. For me as a petite woman it is on the heavier side. One thing to know is that the button shuts the canopy, but you still need some pressure to compress the telescoping shaft afterwards. (That part is manual, not a second button press.)I can manage it, though somebody with sore hands might find that final push less comfortable. Otherwise a useful umbrella.
Hailey Raymond
Nice quality and very solid haha.
I'm glad I chose this one, feels lovely to use haha. Nice quality and very solid haha. Would buy another next time I need an umbrella. I'm glad I chose this one, feels lovely to use haha. Nice quality and very solid haha. Would buy another next time I need an umbrella.

The fabric feels decent and the frame has a solid feel when it's open.
I wanted an umbrella that looked a little nicer without having to spend a fortune, and this has been a good choice. A lot of the ones I looked at seemed either cheaply made or far more expensive than I wanted. The fabric feels decent and the frame has a solid feel when it's open. There is more room underneath than I expected from something that folds up, enough to share if you don't mind standing close. The button takes care of opening it and drawing the canopy shut; you do still push the shaft back in yourself. I haven't found that difficult. My only little "issue" is getting the folds neat before sliding it into the sleeve, which can take me a moment. Otherwise it's smart looking and I've had compliments on it. The black goes with pretty much anything!Update: The price has risen since I got mine.
Bob Moody
A good one to leave in the car or bring to work.
One of the better folding umbrellas I've used. Opens out to a useful size without being awkward to take along, and a couple of wet, blustery outings haven't troubled it. Slips into my sling bag easily once folded. A good one to leave in the car or bring to work.
Caleb Chapman
The green is lovely and it opens out to a good size.
Rain was showing for our outdoor wedding ceremony and I was getting so worried! Ordered this to have something ready if the forecast was right. The green is lovely and it opens out to a good size. We ended up not needing it, thankfully, but I'm still glad I had it there.
Darlene Madden
Sturdy umbrella and a good buy.
Sturdy umbrella and a good buy. We had another compact one to compare with and this is the one we preferred. The construction seems very solid, especially around the frame. The release has a firm action without being difficult to press. I also appreciate the fairly plain appearance rather than something covered in big branding. We've used it on windy days and it hasn't turned inside out yet. Not saying that could never happen, but it has done well so far. Impressed enough that we would choose it again.
Lonnie Dennis
I've relied on an umbrella for shade for years now.
I've relied on an umbrella for shade for years now. With less hair up top I prefer carrying one to wearing a hat. Nothing to flatten my hair! My last one disappeared so I replaced it with this. It makes standing in the sun much more comfortable. Roomy for just me. Two could squeeze underneath, but don't expect the same coverage round the edges in rain or sunshine.

unless you're out in the rain constantly).
This made up part of my mother's Mother's Day present. She'd been borrowing my umbrella on wet days for some time, and I never minded that, but it seemed silly that she didn't have one of her own to reach for. I wanted to give her something useful this year rather than something that would just sit somewhere after the day was over.
We always kept umbrellas in the house when I was growing up. Some stayed around for ages and others weren't worth keeping for very long (I don't really think a couple of years is much of a life for an umbrella... unless you're out in the rain constantly). The one she has been borrowing from me is about ten years old. So I was looking for something she would actually be pleased to keep and use, not just another thing to put in the cupboard.
Black seemed the best choice for her. It looks quite smart without being fussy, and she was pleased with it as soon as she unwrapped it. We've had enough rain over the last week for her to give it a proper try. Yesterday she was telling me again how much she likes it, which is really what I wanted to hear.
My aunt was visiting over Mother's Day weekend and took a liking to it too. She thought it looked very elegant and asked if I could get the same one for her. I did, and the second one was at the door when we went to let her in. I hadn't even been checking for it over the weekend, so finding it there was a nice surprise.
It's nice when a practical present turns out to be something people genuinely want. My mother has her own umbrella now and my aunt has one as well. I'd be quite happy to buy this one again.

The loop is handy for clipping this onto my laptop bag without adding a bulky lump. After several outings the button has behaved nicely, both opening it and drawing the canopy in. No really fierce wind to report on yet, though it feels more substantial than the inexpensive folders I've used before. I bought a second one for my wife too, and she likes hers as much as I like mine.
Nicole Galvan
I think that's a pretty good replacement.
Losing my cream white umbrella at Barcelona airport had me wondering if I'd find one I liked as much.--Push button opening--Button shuts the canopy, then I compress the shaft myself--A sturdy feel--Oval carabiner loop handle to clip onto my backpack or luggage, leaving my hands free until the rain starts.--And a price that didn't make replacing it painful.I think that's a pretty good replacement.
Sandra Griffith
(The rain never arrived!
Needed something to shelter my camera and flash while photographing a friend's outdoor wedding, as I haven't got rain covers for them. (The rain never arrived!) Still glad I picked this up, it feels nicely made for the money. I'd be comfortable recommending it.
Sara Mccall
I am so keen to try it properly!!!
Right, umbrella is here and naturally the rain has disappeared, so this is just a first look.Gorgeous!!! cream white is really pretty without looking fussy or childish. It has a solid feel to it, not something flimsy I would be afraid to open. The automatic button is great, opens it up and brings the canopy back down again. My husband, who never bothers with umbrellas, has already been eyeing it up. I wasn't expecting to need both hands afterwards, you still have to shorten the pole manually, but apparently that is normal with this sort.I am so keen to try it properly!!! It's sitting in the car ready for a wet day :) My 16 year old daughter even gave it her approval, which doesn't happen often, and said there was a nice amount of cover. Anyway I'm delighted with it so far and it looks as though another one will be needed for my husband.
Taylor Schultz
This has been a very good choice.
After getting fed up with flimsy umbrellas that never seemed worth keeping, I wanted something that felt properly made. This has been a very good choice. It arrived neatly boxed, and once out of the packaging the whole thing had a reassuringly solid feel without being absurdly heavy. The oval handle was the first part I noticed; it is comfortable in my hand and gives me a secure grip. Press the button and it opens promptly. Another press folds the canopy, then you shorten the shaft manually to finish putting it away. Straightforward once you've done it. In the rain I've had it out in, the cover has been ample for me and the frame hasn't felt loose or flimsy. I wouldn't treat any handheld umbrella as storm equipment, and I still hang on to it properly when a breeze picks up. Folded, this fits my briefcase nicely, so it is practical enough that I actually bring it along. That matters every bit as much to me as how it looks. A substantial improvement over the umbrellas I was replacing!
Alejandra Maldonado
Wish it sheltered a little more from sideways rain...
Wish it sheltered a little more from sideways rain... but a good umbrella. Served me nicely...until I did my usual thing and left it behind. SO ANNOYING! Somebody else is probably using it now. I carried it in a few light showers and on two REALLY wet walks between the office and the parking lot. Kept most of the rain off me! Liked the black...suited me fine, and my husband was happy carrying it too. Just wish I'd kept hold of it!
Jeffery Hoffman
We are very happy with it!
Our daughter is getting married in Michigan, with the ceremony outside and rain looking likely, so we wanted a gray umbrella. I left finding one rather late and was worrying we'd have nothing suitable to use. This has turned out just right for what we need. The gray looks lovely and having it ready is one less thing to fret over. We are very happy with it!
Noah Mccormick
At around 105cm across it gives decent coverage in rain.
There are plenty of sizes of umbrella, but this is a useful middle ground. The button is quick for opening AND folding the canopy; the shaft is then pushed back in manually. At around 105cm across it gives decent coverage in rain. The closed oval handle provides a secure place to hold it. Folded to roughly 40cm, it fits in my gym bag or briefcase, or a generously sized handbag.
Sara Nielsen
Had this out in the rain several times now.
Had this out in the rain several times now. The ribs feel substantial and it hasn't seemed flimsy when the weather turns blustery. The sleeve is handy too. Only little gripe is the push needed to shorten the shaft after the canopy closes, it takes a firm hand, but does lock down properly.
Danny Ramirez
What a difference this makes in the sunshine!
What a difference this makes in the sunshine! The shade underneath is much more comfortable than having the sun directly on me. It weighs a little more than my old umbrella, though I don't mind that for something that feels this sturdy. The canopy closes easily with the button- resetting the shaft takes a firmer push. Still, those are small things next to how useful it is as shade. I'd happily tell anyone wanting a sun umbrella to try this one.
Tracy Lewis
Used it in today's rain in SF and it did what I needed.
Used it in today's rain in SF and it did what I needed. Feels a lot more substantial than my old cheap umbrella. There wasn't much wind so I can't comment on that yet. It folds up fairly small, although it's a bit bulky unless you wrap it neatly. The button shuts the canopy, then you press the handle and top together to shorten it. That's fine, just an extra step when packing away. We'll see how it holds up over time. I'd recommend it for everyday rain, but wouldn't expect it to be some massive heavy duty umbrella.
Brittney Diaz
Mine comes with me whenever I'm out.
Mine comes with me whenever I'm out. It's especially useful for getting some shade on hot walks with my dog. Having the canopy overhead makes those sunny stretches feel much more comfortable. I'd personally like a little extra width, but that's only my preference, I'm happy with how it works.
Kurt Hubbard

This feels better in my hand than the old umbrella i had because that grip had a rubbery feel and quite a smell to it this one feels smoother and the oval shape gives me a decent hold without squeezing too tight there is no smell that i notice either so i am much happier carrying this one around a good purchase.

This was for a little girl through a charity scheme.
This was for a little girl through a charity scheme. An umbrella was on her wish list, and she loves princesses, so I hoped carrying her own would feel a bit special. I wasn't there to see her open it or use it, just hope it gave her a smile and a little Christmas magic
Robyn Marks
I like how solid it feels and how easy it is to carry.
I live in California. With melanoma in my family, I pay attention to time in the sun.Having some shade right at hand is a BIG PLUS!It's light enough that I actually bring it along, and folds neatly into the sleeve.I like how solid it feels and how easy it is to carry.A very useful thing to have around.Well worth carrying!

The pink is so nice and feels very me, not just another dull umbrella.
I'm almost reluctant to take this umbrella out because I would hate to leave it behind somewhere. The pink is so nice and feels very me, not just another dull umbrella. I haven't noticed anyone around me carrying one like it either. Sounds silly being this attached to an umbrella but I really do love it.

My little sister is working in Japan and I bought her this for the rainy season...She walks to the school where she works and says it has been so useful!!! We both live abroad, she's there and I'm in Italy, so getting it to her without a long wait mattered a LOT. She likes the quick opening when she heads outside, and says she gets good cover without having to battle with it in a breeze. It folds up neatly too so she can put it away when she gets to school. Such a relief to hear she's pleased with it, I'm delighted with the purchase!!!

I'm not counting it as sunscreen, just useful shade.
Living in southern Arizona means looking for shade wherever I can get it in summer. sunscreen on my face gets sticky and ends up on my phone, and a hat leaves my hands and arms out in the sun anyway. I already have sun damage there. This gives me a patch of shade over more than just my face while I'm walking. There's usually a breeze here too, so I wanted something that didn't feel flimsy. The ribs have some give and it's been comfortable to carry on the days I've used it. Getting out of direct sunlight makes a noticeable difference to how hot I feel.Another thing I appreciate is the blue canopy when I'm crossing the road. It gives drivers something more to notice, though I still watch them carefully because turning cars don't always look for pedestrians. I'm not counting it as sunscreen, just useful shade. For that job it has worked very nicely.
Kelly Barber
So it has been useful for both kinds of weather.
Main reason for choosing this was to have some shade while playing golf in the summer. It is much nicer standing underneath it than being in direct sunshine. I keep it in the cart and take it with me when I want a shady spot while waiting. It packs down easily afterwards instead of leaving me with a long umbrella to carry around. I've also used it for a rain shower and it did the job there too. The loop handle is comfortable to hold and the button makes getting it open straightforward. So it has been useful for both kinds of weather.
Bradley Hill
More importantly, I arrived reasonably dry underneath it.
I left this review unwritten for a while because I wanted some actual use behind it, rather than just saying it looked nice when I unpacked it. Two weeks of almost constant rain have certainly provided that opportunity. Personally I would have preferred fewer opportunities! But I can now say something about carrying it every day and using it repeatedly. If my opinion changes with more wear I will come back to this.
At first I was thinking four stars, mainly because of the price and a few small inconveniences. Then I misplaced it and found myself quite prepared to pay for another one straight away. That was a better indication of how I felt about it than my original mental list of complaints. Fortunately it turned up again, so I didn't actually have to spend the money twice.
I get around on foot and by bus, rather than driving, so an umbrella isn't something I just use between a front door and a car. There is the walk, then standing around waiting, then usually another walk. Mine lives in my backpack because I don't trust a promising-looking morning. My previous cheap umbrella had become rather tired from being carried about and used so much. I wanted to move beyond something that was merely there in an emergency, and find something pleasant to look at that would also give me decent shelter.
So far this has been a good choice on both counts. On a particularly blustery walk this week the canopy held its shape and I wasn't having to stop and rearrange it. More importantly, I arrived reasonably dry underneath it. Being able to get it open with one hand is a real convenience when the other hand is occupied. Its appearance appeals to me too; attractive without looking as though it's trying terribly hard.
The cost was my biggest hesitation before ordering. Having now depended on it through this wet spell, I mind that much less. When it went missing I wasn't thinking about finding the cheapest possible replacement, I wanted this one back. Compared with what I can spend on a takeaway without much thought, paying for something I actually carry and use seems fairly reasonable.
There are still a few things worth mentioning though.
Cons:
* The closing button collapses the canopy, but you still push the telescoping shaft down yourself. I use both hands for that part. Nothing wrong with it, just not quite the single-handed finish I had pictured.
* It feels more substantial in my backpack than my old little umbrella. I accept the trade-off, but it isn't something that disappears into a tiny corner.
* Getting the folded fabric tidy enough for the sleeve takes a bit more attention than simply shutting it and going.
* The sleeve is useful for carrying it, but I still let everything dry before leaving it packed away. Coming indoors wet requires a little organisation.
Pros:
* The framework feels reassuring when it's open, rather than flimsy.
* Water shakes off quite readily before I fold it away.
* Quick, one-handed opening has been genuinely useful, not just a feature I tried once in the house.
* It looks good enough that people have commented on it, which is a small but cheerful bonus in dreary weather.
Overall, the little practical niggles haven't outweighed how much I like using it. Losing it briefly made that very clear to me. I would choose it again, and I'm glad I found mine!

Nice to give them something they can actually use afterwards!
I picked up a few for my bridesmaids for our starry night wedding and I'm rather tempted to keep one myself! Pretty AND practical. Haven't had any rain to try them in yet but I did pop one open indoors and it feels nicely put together. It's a small 'brelly to tuck in a bag for an unexpected shower.Nice to give them something they can actually use afterwards!

Happy with this purchase.
Our two and a half year old asked for an umbrella at Christmas (we have plenty of wet days here), and this has made her very happy. It opens fairly wide so we help her hold it, but she wants it along whether there are clouds or not. It feels nicely made and has handled all her enthusiasm. Very sweet looking too. Happy with this purchase.

Added later: being able to open it with one press is really handy.
Feels like a quality umbrella and not something that will fold over at the first breeze. I would have preferred more room for sharing; about 105cm across is fine for me, but two people would be a squeeze.Added later: being able to open it with one press is really handy.
Christine Banks
feels sturdy and the blue is nice.
Much nicer standing in the sun with this over me, it gives a good patch of shade. feels sturdy and the blue is nice. i like the automatic action, but the button needs a proper firm press rather than a light touch. after the canopy has shut, i put my hands at either end and compress the shaft to its short position. easier that way for me. keep a good grip when pressing to open because it comes out with quite a kick. i held it towards the daylight to see how much came through and was pleased with the shade underneath. so for using in the sun it is doing the job i wanted.
Casey Lara
The canopy looks neat and elegant.
The canopy looks neat and elegant. The frame feels reassuringly solid as well. We only bought it for a wedding shoot, so I doubt we'll use it much now unless somebody borrows it. If another couple does need it, I think they'll be very pleased with the way it looks and feels too.

Hello folks,Just tried my new umbrella, Lovely quality.the oval loop handle feels good to carry!Folds down to fit by the side of my golf bag so it's there when I want it.Took it along for our round this past weekend and we had a shower passing through, very glad to have some cover.nice to stay dry while you're out on the course.:)Regards,The fellow in knickers.

I've had one of these for nearly a year.
I've had one of these for nearly a year. The black is plain but looks smart rather than dull. It feels quite substantial open, with enough room for me, and folds down to go in my bag. One press opens it and another folds the canopy; you then shorten the pole yourself. Recently I left mine out to dry and it disappeared (why did I leave it there?). I will be getting the same one again.
Kendra Coffey
I LOVE how this looks!
I LOVE how this looks! Went for beige and it's a lovely change, simple but not dull on a wet day. Nothing about it feels cheap. A quick press gets it open, and it has coped well when the weather gets breezy. I can put it in my bag afterward rather than carry a long umbrella about. At this price I wasn't sure what sort of quality to expect, but I've been pleasantly surprised. Would absolutely suggest it to anyone looking for an everyday umbrella.
Jeffery Wilson
After a few outings I'm pleased with it overall.
After a few outings I'm pleased with it overall. Closing is the one part that takes effort, especially pushing the telescoping section down after the canopy folds. That last push is QUITE STIFF for me. It works as it should, but a lighter push would have earned the extra star.
Tammie Huber
The oval handle feels substantial in my hand.
After looking for something sturdy, attractive and easy to manage, I feel I've found it. The canopy covers me properly, and I can hold it high enough to watch the road and crossing signals comfortably. I like the cream white, which makes it easier to find among my things, without needing a fussy pattern. The oval handle feels substantial in my hand. Folded up, it fits neatly into the carrying sleeve and is convenient to take along. A practical purchase - now to make sure I don't misplace this one!
