My new umbrella has arrived and looks sturdy enough for travelling.
My new umbrella has arrived and looks sturdy enough for travelling. I expect to be happy using it. What puts me off is the way umbrellas get talked about as men's or women's, as though the rain cares. Surely a well made folding umbrella is something anyone can use, regardless of gender?

A good quality umbrella.
A good quality umbrella. We had a win with watering the tree. The box kept everything in shape, all the ribs look fine. There is a sleeve as well. Also a button to bring the canopy in. Pushing the shaft back takes a firm hand. But the frame holds nicely in a breeze, that is good. Many thanks, thanks again, thanks to the seller.

Such a lovely umbrella!
Such a lovely umbrella! Its light enough to carry around but still feels sturdy. The cream white really shows up on a wet street, and people seem to give me a bit of room instead of bumping past. I actually look forward to taking it out when the weather turns. Mine has a couple marks now, though thats probably me putting it away damp. Still think its a fantastic umbrella!

A little less substantial than my full length umbrellas, although…
A little less substantial than my full length umbrellas, although this is my first folding one so perhaps that's to be expected. It slips into the laptop bag I take on work trips, which was the main requirement. Being able to pop it open with the button, then collapse the canopy before getting into a taxi or through a revolving door, is a real convenience.
Melvin Sheppard
It did just what I needed in the rain there.
At home in Arizona an umbrella doesn't get many outings, but I wanted one to take when travelling. It has come along to New York and, most recently, bird watching in Brazil's rain forest. It did just what I needed in the rain there. Opening it is simple, and it packs away without a struggle. The canopy stayed steady when a bit of wind came through. Easy enough to carry in my roomy purse, too. A very useful travel umbrella and one of the nicer ones I've owned.

No rain here yet, so I haven't tried it outdoors.
Been wanting an umbrella with this sort of simple look, so this one caught my eye. The beige is a little different to what I pictured, which was slightly dissapointing, but it feels well put together. No rain here yet, so I haven't tried it outdoors. For now I'm just enjoying how it looks when it's opened up.

These came today and my first impression is that they're made well.
These came today and my first impression is that they're made well. Haven't been outside with them in rain or wind yet, so I can only go by trying them indoors. There's a useful amount of cover once open, especially for a folding umbrella. Will come back and say more if the first wet outing changes my opinion.
Nathan Villanueva
It opens wider than I pictured.
It opens wider than I pictured. I saw 'compact' and had this little umbrella in my head... obviously that is more about carrying it folded. There is plenty of cover for me, which is good... just a little awkward threading past people on a busy pavement. Nothing wrong with it, I just should have paid attention to the open size.
Cory Leon
It feels properly made and hasn't given me any trouble.
Easily the nicest umbrella I've owned, both for looks and how it works. It feels properly made and hasn't given me any trouble. Even walking around Manhattan in rain is a little more enjoyable, and I've noticed a few curious looks at the handle. I'm thinking about getting a couple more as presents because I've enjoyed using this one so much.
Ana Nunez
Very happy with how it looks and works.
The green on this umbrella is beautiful! It looks richer in person than I expected from the picture. Everything operates properly. I'm not gentle with rain gear, so that matters quite a bit to me. So far it's coped with my usual clumsy handling and normal windy walks. The ribs have some give rather than feeling rigid. Very happy with how it looks and works.
Terrence Day
Press it and the umbrella opens out pretty quickly.
i picked the gray one and overall I am happy with how it has been. There is a little bit to get used to with the button, especially if you haven't had one like it before. Press it and the umbrella opens out pretty quickly. I wait for it to spread out fully and then I am ready to go. It feels quite strong once it is up. The part I find a bit of a nuisance is getting it back down to its folded size, not a big thing but it takes a push. I live close to the ocean so umbrellas get pushed around by the weather here. You can feel it pulling in your hand when a gust comes but so far it has handled the windy rain I have been out in. To close it the button brings the canopy in, then the pole needs pushing down by hand before the button will open it again. A friend used it once and wondered why it wasn't opening a second time. After I showed them that last push there was no problem. Would i choose it again? I think so. It isn't completely effortless to put away but it has kept me dry and feels worth keeping.
Norma Bates
They look nice as well.
I've bought two of these. They're about 16 inches when folded, which fits in my bag, and open out to give me a decent amount of cover. Useful to have around when a shower comes unexpectedly. They look nice as well. I would still be careful about heavy wind, but for ordinary rain I have been very happy with them so far.
Kristine Crane
A verry useful umbrella for wet and breezy days.
A verry useful umbrella for wet and breezy days. The frame has 30 flexible ribs, and the ribs they give a little instead of feeling completely stiff. The canopy has kept me dry and the opening is easy, with no wrestling to get it ready. I've used cheeper umbrellas for golf before, including some much larger ones, and this seems better put together then those. It is also a lot easier to carry around once folded. Really pleased with it so far.
Clifford Orr
The beige is a nice soft colour.
Really pleased with how much cover this gives for a folding umbrella! The beige is a nice soft colour. It covers me & my daughter when she's riding in the shopping cart outside the grocery store. Two adults can share it as well, though we need to stay fairly close. I like the oval handle, there's a proper place to grip it & it feels secure in my hand. The build is what keeps me coming back to these umbrellas, even if I'd prefer a lower price. My last one didn't wear out, the kids managed to lose it.
Joy Gould
So far it has done exactly that.
Of the two umbrellas I picked out, this one has suited my junior high daughter best. She walks or bikes to school every day, and our winter weather is mostly rain with some wind. I wanted her to have decent cover on the walking days without a huge umbrella to carry around school. So far it has done exactly that. It feels put together well, and I'm hoping she will have it for quite a few winters.

Am very happy I decided to try it!
The remarks about packing this away almost put me off ordering. My experience: Closing it is NOT the ordeal I expected. Pressing the button gathers the canopy, then I push the shaft down and tidy the fabric. That part is easy enough. Getting the folded umbrella into its sleeve IS a much fussier business, at least for me. I've had much the same struggle with compact umbrellas before, though. Most days I leave the sleeve off and slip it into my purse once it's dry. For a pretty parasol that gives me some shade, that's a compromise I'm happy with. It doesn't feel burdensome to hold and looks lovely opened up. The handle is also pleasant to carry. Am very happy I decided to try it!
Karina Shaw
She is very pleased with her umbrella and ready for some rain.
My little preschooler could hardly wait to look at this when it came. We haven't had a rainy day to use it yet, but she is keen to hold it herself. It is something we will use together, as I will handle the button and push the pole down afterwards. She is very pleased with her umbrella and ready for some rain.

This umbrella has been a good choice.
Living on the northern California coast, I need something dependable for my mile-and-a-quarter walk to the bus stop. This umbrella has been a good choice. It covers me properly and the handle gives me a secure grip without having to hold my arm at a funny angle. My one small gripe is getting past poles and overgrown hedges on the narrower stretches of pavement. Occasionally I have to tilt it to get through, though really the bushes could do with a trim. I like that it folds down when I get on the bus rather than leaving me with a full-length umbrella to juggle. For the walk I bought it for, it has been money well spent. Happy to recommend it!
Ethan Klein
Feels solid and the quality is good.
This is a bit bigger than I expected (which is a good thing!) - a little wider than the usual small umbrella. It isn't one of those phone sized ones when folded, but thats fine with me. Feels solid and the quality is good. Love that the button opens AND closes the canopy. Makes going out in the rain that bit nicer!UPDATE: still pleased, still using it, no trouble!ANOTHER UPDATE: haven't replaced it - still the umbrella I reach for first

Worth what I paid for them.
Worth what I paid for them. I've ended up with three, and people often remark on how nice they look. I need to limit direct sun for health reasons, so having some shade along with rain cover is useful to me. I still take care with them when it gets windy rather than expect miracles from an umbrella. They've held up well that way. A dear friend has one I bought for her and is just as pleased.
Ross Jefferson
A lovely little umbrella with a bit of style to it.
A lovely little umbrella with a bit of style to it. I keep wanting a reason to take it out, only the rain has been rather scarce lately (and sometimes I simply forget it). The beige against the black underneath looks very pleasing to me. It is nice to have an everyday useful thing that someone has put some thought into visually. I wouldn't describe it as a huge storm umbrella; it feels quite normal for a compact and I will mostly use it for ordinary showers. That is what I wanted anyway. Useful, reasonably priced, and a little less dreary on a grey day.
Makayla Lewis
The open size suits just me and doesn't feel cumbersome.
I've had this for a few months and use it more for shade than rain. It makes being out in the sun more comfortable, which was my main reason for buying it. I can't judge sun protection beyond that, but I'm glad I bought it. The black underside is pleasant to sit beneath, and the whole thing feels carefully made. It has dealt well with the gusts I've encountered without being a weight I resent carrying. The open size suits just me and doesn't feel cumbersome. The oval handle works nicely for me too, with enough room for a comfortable grip rather than having to clench my hand around it. All those ribs give the canopy a lovely shape too, which I hadn't really thought about before.
Warren Klein
A lovely finishing touch to what I take travelling.
A lovely finishing touch to what I take travelling. The price suited me and the umbrella looks smart rather than just being another practical thing to pack. I travel quite a bit and enjoy having things that look good as well as doing their job. Now the rain doesn't mean pulling out an umbrella that lets the rest of the look down.
Kristen Hooper
Walking in the rain is much more pleasant when I arrive dry.
Had this for several months now and it's been what I needed. There is enough coverage for me without a lot of weight to carry. Walking in the rain is much more pleasant when I arrive dry. Mine came well packed and promptly. Nothing complicated about using it either. For what umbrellas seem to cost these days, I think the price was reasonable.

Finding an umbrella I wanted for outdoor events took some looking!
Finding an umbrella I wanted for outdoor events took some looking! Here in Florida a bit of rain can arrive right in the middle of whatever you're watching. Once everybody puts umbrellas up, I start worrying about the edges near people's faces and how much room we're all taking up. This one is a manageable size for me, while still giving decent cover over my upper body. I do keep an eye on where I'm holding it in a crowd. The fabric feels substantial, and the button means no fiddling around to open it. Hoping to have this with me for a long time!
Steven Rowland
Once she opened it, she wanted to use it immediately.
Keeping this hidden from my daughter until Christmas was harder than I expected. Once she opened it, she wanted to use it immediately. The construction seems solid and it feels sturdy -- she's already taking it out in the snow rather than waiting for a rainy day.
Perry Simmons
A very sensible mix of quality and price.
Paying more for a fully automatic umbrella doesn't always mean getting something that lasts. This one makes much more sense to me. The button opens it and closes the canopy, then you push the shaft down yourself. It fits in my briefcase or a roomy coat pocket, and has held up well with use, including windy days. I'd rather do that last push than pay a lot extra for more automation. At this price I could have a spare as well without spending what some of the fancy ones cost. A very sensible mix of quality and price.
Claire Navarro
Small victories!
New York has given this plenty of breezy, rainy outings and I've had no bother with it. Seen other people fighting their umbrellas while mine has behaved itself. Rather nice being the smug one for a change, strolling along dry instead of wrestling with the thing. Small victories!
Haley Burch
I've had quite a few nice comments on it.
I needed something for shade as well as wet weather & this has worked out just right. It feels surprisingly light to carry around, which matters to me, and looks good too. I've had quite a few nice comments on it. For the way i use an umbrella, it's ideal. I wouldn't take it out expecting miracles in a really fierce wind though. It's still a handheld umbrella, not some massive heavy duty shelter. Ordinary showers and having some shade over my head are what I wanted, and I'm pleased with both.
Terrance Sutton
The umbrella itself deserves five stars.
The umbrella itself deserves five stars. black is just as pictured, and it feels solid to use. Not so impressed by the wrapping though. The outside of the parcel was ripped when it came, which doesn't inspire confidence. Mine was unharmed, fortunately. Good item, but the packing needs more care.

Mine stays in the car for those surprise showers.
Mine stays in the car for those surprise showers. It slides into the storage space in the door nicely. Pressing that button and having it spring open never gets old (Instant shelter!). It's been there a couple of years and still looks tidy and works just as well as when I first got it.
Shawn Norton
My first impression was good.
My first impression was good. It opened straight away and looked very neat. Closing it was where I got confused. The canopy folded when I pressed the button, but the telescoping section stayed extended. I had taken automatic closing to mean everything would retract, so I initially thought something was wrong. It isn't a faulty mechanism. The shaft needs to be compressed manually before putting it away. The frame looks solid and the oval handle is easy enough to grip. I dont mind a little weight if it feels sturdy.Edit: Having used it a few more times, I understand the sequence now and it works smoothly. Press the button, then push the telescoping section down. I would give it five stars if that last part took less effort. Still a good looking umbrella and one I am happy to keep.
Emma Kennedy
I don't mind it myself, and once pressed it opens without any fuss.
Nicely put together and looks tidy, although my wife finds the opening button a little firm for her thumb. I don't mind it myself, and once pressed it opens without any fuss. At this price a slightly easier press would be welcome, but it hasn't stopped us using it. It arrived neatly packed and we have had no trouble with the canopy catching when opening. Overall I think it is a good umbrella and would recommend it, with that small qualification about the button.

My Christmas umbrella/parasol and I'm delighted with it!
My Christmas umbrella/parasol and I'm delighted with it! It folds down to a neat size, and opened up the beige canopy looks lovely and even. There's a black underside (something I hadn't really noticed at first)I've had it out in the rain and stayed dry, with nothing feeling weak or flimsy. After trying mine I ordered another to give away as a present too. A pretty umbrella that feels as useful as it looks, I'm very happy with it.
Ruth Oconnell
A really pretty umbrella.
A really pretty umbrella. It feels solid enough and opens to a useful size. Umbrellas haven't usually lasted very long with me in the past so I'm hoping this one will be different, it certainly seems sturdier. And it really does look better in front of you than it does in the photos.

It was a small wedding and we just wanted that bit of reassurance.
Rain was looking possible for our wedding, so we ordered several umbrellas for ourselves and the guests to use between the outdoor reception tent and the inn. It was a small wedding and we just wanted that bit of reassurance. On seeing them I liked them even more, the gray looked quite smart and didn't look out of place with everything else! In the end we had a dry day, so most weren't needed, but there was no way I was parting with mine. It opens out to a useful size without being an enormous thing to carry around. Nice to have ready for ordinary wet days as well as something as important as a wedding!
Sabrina Warren
Such a sweet present, absolutely love it!
For my neice's second birthday, and she was thrilled with her umbrella. She wanted to carry it about the house straight away and kept trying to work out how to get it open (the push button makes demonstrating that part nice and simple). I do the folding up afterwards, but she is very interested in the whole process. The canopy gives her lots of cover, and it packs away without a big long pole to store. Such a sweet present, absolutely love it!
Brittany Massey
It looks tidy and has a reassuringly solid feel.
Had this about a week and finally gave it a proper try in the weekend rain. It looks tidy and has a reassuringly solid feel. Folded, it takes up a little more room than I pictured, although it still goes in my bag. The important part, though---it coped nicely when the wind picked up. Crossing the parking lot, I could see someone else struggling to keep their umbrella under control, and I was glad not to be doing the same. Mine kept me covered without a fuss. A small size compromise I can certainly live with.
Tamara Wall
The look of this umbrella is wonderful!
The look of this umbrella is wonderful! The beige is beautiful if, like me, you prefer something a bit quieter..A really nice choice. Packs away. Simple to open & fold. Would be a lovely present, even to yourself. Mine stays in the car so I have it there when rain catches me.
Ivan Donovan
Love it!
Costs a little more than I'd normally spend, but I'm glad I tried it. I live by the lake and work downtown, where a wet walk often comes with some pretty lively gusts. Cheap umbrellas have been a waste of money for me. Took this out in yesterday's wind and it coped really well, without me battling an inside-out canopy. That's the difference I was hoping for. Love it!
Walter Webb
For the money it seems a sensible buy.
I was topping up our supply of umbrellas and bought a few different styles to see which I preferred. They were all quite decent, but I keep reaching for this one. The oval loop handle is comfortable to hold and gives it a slightly different feel from the usual straight handle. I also like being able to open it with one press and bring the canopy in with another. You do push the shaft back down yourself afterwards, which is simple enough. I tend to look after the buttons and moving parts on things, so I think it should suit me. With the kids borrowing it, I'd be reminding them not to force anything. For the money it seems a sensible buy. If I'd tried this one first, I might have just bought more of the same.

There are several things in its favour.
There are several things in its favour. The open canopy provides a useful amount of cover without leaving you with a full-length umbrella to carry afterwards. Held fairly low, it keeps my head and shoulders dry in ordinary rain. (Rain coming in sideways is another matter; you still have to angle it towards the weather rather than expect the edges to protect you from every direction.) The frame has some flexibility, which seems preferable to something completely rigid when the wind catches it. Also, the handle, telescoping shaft and ribs feel reasonably substantial. Pressing the button to open it is convenient when you are already standing outside.
On the less favourable side: First, having so many ribs also means having quite a few folds to gather together afterwards. Bringing the canopy down does not leave everything neatly arranged, and the folded bundle is fairly thick unless you spend a moment smoothing the fabric around it. Second, automatic closing needs a little explanation. The button draws the canopy shut, but the telescoping sections still need to be pushed together manually. This is normal operation, not a failure to close; nevertheless, putting the umbrella away is less of a one-handed affair than opening it. Third, the fabric seems to collect some surface dust if left lying out when dry. It brushes away, but is noticeable. Finally, the outer box had rather more room in it than appeared necessary for a compact umbrella. A closer-fitting box would have seemed quite adequate to protect the contents.
Overall, worth buying. The rain coverage and convenient opening outweigh the small annoyances, although I would not describe packing it away as effortless. Note: the handle is an oval loop, not the usual open curved hook, which is worth noticing in the pictures rather than assuming they are interchangeable.

My 9 yo granddaughter loves the blue, she is a competitive swimmer and says it reminds her of the pool. The button is easy enough but pushing the shaft down after the canopy closes takes some strength, hopefully that gets easier, she is happy with it anyway because the color is so nice.
Kylie Donovan
It is light and and different looking.
The loop handle is a little unusual but I don't think that takes away from how nice it looks. It is light and and different looking. I walk between classes all over a big campus in the Northwest, and bringing this along hasn't felt like another heavy thing to drag around.

Ive been using mine for around a year.
Ive been using mine for around a year. Its the kind of plain umbrella that looks right anywhere, just in a folding size. Dont expect it to disappear into a tiny pocket, it wasnt made that small. The button gives a quick, positive opening. We dont get much wind where I live, but its managed the occasional stronger breeze just fine.
Melvin Orr
For what I paid, I'm impressed with both the feel and the usefulness.
Somehow the rain always starts while I'm at work or about to get out of the car. I ended up buying two -- one to leave at the office and another to keep in the car. Little folding umbrellas have a habit of disappearing on me, so I'm making an effort to leave these in their usual spots. The loop handle is comfortable in my hand and a press has it open quickly. There's a useful amount of space underneath, especially compared with how little room it takes up folded. I've used them in a couple of really wet downpours now and stayed dry. For what I paid, I'm impressed with both the feel and the usefulness.
Vicki Douglas
This one suits me very well.
For keeping the rain off, I want decent coverage and something that doesn't feel flimsy. This one suits me very well. It's not the lightest umbrella to carry, so that's worth thinking about if you prefer one you can hardly feel in your bag. I'd rather have the sturdier feel myself. I came back to look for this particular one after not finding anything I liked locally. Mine has held up without any trouble so far, and I wish I was as good at keeping track of umbrellas as I am at losing them...Still worth the extra money to me when I'm out in a downpour and staying dry.
Paige Bates
The canopy gives me good shade and the umbrella feels solid to hold.
The canopy gives me good shade and the umbrella feels solid to hold. In direct sunlight it's a relief to have something between me and the sun, rather than just standing there getting hot. I'm pleased with it, although an option with more coverage would be welcome. Good value for me.

This umbrella made a lovely change from the usual gifts.
I was running out of ideas for someone who likes something a bit different. This umbrella made a lovely change from the usual gifts. She was delighted with it and it feels very nicely made. The sleeve is useful as well! Now I'm tempted to choose another colour and get one for myself.

It made a lovely bridal shower present and the bride was very happy with it. She liked the pink so much that she took it along on her wedding day too.I was a little anxious about how it would travel, but it arrived snugly packed and in excellent condition. Quite a simple look rather than very dressy, though it was still very well received.
