Oh, it's fine once you know, and the pink looks nice.

I like the umbrella, but could the description make the closing bit clearer. The button shuts the canopy, yes, but then the shaft needs pushing down by hand. How was I supposed to know 'automatic' wasn't the whole lot?Oh, it's fine once you know, and the pink looks nice. No, really, I'm keeping it, just spell that last step out a little better.

Sturdy and well put together.

Sturdy and well put together. I wouldn't say standing underneath it makes the day feel dramatically cooler, but having shade over my head is definitely better than direct sun. It gets plenty of outdoor use and is holding up so far. My only reservation is the bulk when folded; it needs more bag room than I expected. Even so, I'd buy it again.

Alexandria Avila

It's a pretty umbrella and I enjoy using it.

It's a pretty umbrella and I enjoy using it. Putting all the folds neatly back takes some fussing, though. I'd prefer cream white underneath as well, because the black is mostly what I see while using it. Still, the size is generous without being enormous, and it's held up nicely so far. My other small gripe is that the loop handle isn't quite as comfortable in my hand as I'd hoped.

Angel Lawrence

Shade matters a LOT to me.

For the coverage, it feels surprisingly light in my hand. I'm a 39 year old man who had skin cancer removed, thankfully all clear now. Shade matters a LOT to me. DON'T SKIP YOUR SUNSCREEN!!! This is well made, simple to operate and gives me a comfortable patch of shade when I'm outside!

Hector French

Excellent quality for what it cost.

Excellent quality for what it cost. It came well protected, and everything felt nicely put together when I opened it. A good amount of cover without being a weight to carry! My wife and I can share if we stand close. Exactly right for us, would certainly recommend!

Craig Singh

Looks smart and sits comfortably in my hand.

Looks smart and sits comfortably in my hand. It springs open fast and gives me a good amount of cover. Getting it wrapped as neatly as it was when it arrived is another matter, the folds want to bunch together unless I straighten them out. Not a big deal, just needs a minute. I'm not trying to test it in ferocious winds. If the weather is THAT wild, why stand there battling an umbrella anyway? Fold it up and get where you're going. For normal rain, I think it's money well spent.

Mine lives in my bag, so it's always there when needed.

Mine lives in my bag, so it's always there when needed. There's a bit of weight to it, but the solid feel makes that worthwhile. I like how the button opens it and draws the canopy shut again. It spreads out to a surprisingly generous size when you're underneath!

Glen Friedman

Bigger open than I pictured.

Bigger open than I pictured. Didn't pay enough attention to the description. I'm small so it looks rather enormous over me. Seems made well, felt sturdy when it got windy. Two people can squeeze underneath. Folded is manageable but not a tiny umbrella. I look like I'm carrying my own little roof

Christian Beard

Pretty close to ideal for me.

Pretty close to ideal for me. Small enough to take along, looks understated, and the button deals with opening AND folding the canopy. You still shorten the pole yourself, which is fair enough. It has dried well after use and felt solid in everyday showers. I wouldn't choose it for a serious storm, but for something I'll actually bother carrying...that's the important part. I'd happily get another.

Yvonne Washington

Hopefully a useful opinion.

I do most of the choosing for my wife, being a analysis at work I look into things perhaps too much. She wanted blue, so we settled on this one and she loves it. Slightly bulky for my liking, but I score things a bit stricter than she does. Take that how you will. Hopefully a useful opinion.

Good coverage for me without carrying a giant umbrella.

Been after something like this for ages and needed it the very day it turned up. Rain was coming down hard with some wind too. I got home dry and it didn't turn itself inside out, which is more than I can say for my old ones. The button opens it smoothly and shuts the canopy, then I push the pole down to pack it away.Good coverage for me without carrying a giant umbrella. People can be so particular about how these things look. Honestly, if it keeps me dry I'm happy, nobody is studying your umbrella. This feels like money well spent.

Went for green and I'm very pleased with the look of it!

Bought two of these; one to keep at home and the other for my truck. Have used it once so far and it seems sturdy, folding down quite neatly for the amount of cover it gives. There is a little weight to it, but I suppose that's the compromise for it feeling well put together. My husband and I could walk underneath together without getting wet. Went for green and I'm very pleased with the look of it!

Wanda Ingram

They've done WELL in blustery rain too.

Sent two of these as Christmas presents to my Mother and sister. Both are delighted! You can tell some care has gone into the construction just from handling one. They've done WELL in blustery rain too. For anyone after a decent everyday umbrella, I think the price is quite reasonable.

Summer Kirk

Easy to carry and I'd happily recommend it.

Love how convenient this is getting into the car. A press of the button gathers the canopy, so I'm not leaning back outside wrestling it shut.I wasn't sure whether the blue would look too bright, but it's a really nice shade. It's done well on windy wet days too. Easy to carry and I'd happily recommend it.

Jake Bryan

Really nice umbrella.

I'm so fond of this umbrella I almost don't want to take it out. I'd be really annoyed if I left it behind somewhere or a gust carried it off. It just has that look I like, and I haven't spotted one like it around me. Silly maybe but I like something a little different. Really nice umbrella.

Katelyn Lawson

For what it is, I'm very happy with it

I've only had this for a month, so this isn't a verdict on how it copes with serious gusts. It looks handsome, feels well built and pops open neatly. The flexible ribs are reassuring, although I haven't really put them to much of a test. My one reservation is personal: at 6'6" I'd appreciate a little more cover for my feet and lower legs. The canopy is about 105 cm across when open, so this is still a compact umbrella rather than a really big one. For what it is, I'm very happy with it; I just need to remember that portable and enormous aren't the same thing.

Stefanie Contreras

The construction seems sound and I'm happy with the finish.

It hasn't had much use in the week I've owned it, so these are early impressions. The construction seems sound and I'm happy with the finish. Pressing the button opens it smoothly, with a nicely shaped canopy that gives me room to stand underneath and stay properly covered.

Alec Strong

Arrived quickly.

Arrived quickly. It is fairly light to carry and useful for a little shade as well as rain. The frame doesn't look massively heavy duty, but it doesn't feel flimsy either. I wanted something to leave in my bag on days when the forecast can't decide what it is doing. For that, I'm satisfied. The blue looked quite bright in the picture, but in person it is more subdued? Still blue, just a softer looking shade than I had pictured. Worth bearing in mind if the exact colour matters to you.

Andrea Avery

On that first use alone I'm impressed!!

Received it yesterday and today I had the chance to try it in rain. On that first use alone I'm impressed!! I usually come home with wet hair or a damp back and this time I didn't. The frame seems a little more bendy than I expected so I can't really say about lasting yet, but hopefully it will. The coverage is bigger than I thought from seeing it closed, though not so big I'm knocking into people on a city pavement which I appreciate. I don't want to be that person with an enormous umbrella taking up all the space. If it lasts well I can see myself loving this one.

Clifford Santos

This one has been a good choice for me.

I've gone through enough flimsy umbrellas over the years to appreciate one that feels substantial. This one has been a good choice for me. It ends up on the floor of the car more often than it should, so I can't claim I am especially careful with my things. Even with that, the opening button is working smoothly and the frame still feels firm. No reason to be fiddling about in the rain! The plain look is smart and the canopy gives comfortable cover for me, with room for someone to tuck in close for a short walk. I wouldn't expect a compact umbrella to be a shelter for every storm, but for the wet days I use it for it has done it's job very well. A keeper.

Connor Cordova

There's no reason an everyday umbrella can't be nice to look at too.

I enjoyed using mine enough to choose another as a gift for a friend. There's no reason an everyday umbrella can't be nice to look at too. This one also earns its keep, keeping me dry and making it simple to open or shut the canopy with the button. Each time I take it along, I'm glad I chose it.

Adrian Brooks

The lost star is for how the mechanism resets.

A two week trip this fall convinced me I needed something useful in different weather. I came from Arizona, spent a week at a conference in New York, then went to the theme parks in Orlando with friends. Rain first, blazing sun afterwards, and the umbrella I had wasn't pleasant for sitting under in the heat.So I picked cream white this time and it really is cheerful to open. Good solid feel, generous coverage, still fits my purse, though I notice the weight. The lost star is for how the mechanism resets. Once the button has folded the canopy, you have to compress the pole completely before the button will open it again. That means closing it to slip through a gate or crowd isn't as quick as I expected. You can't simply press again and have the top spring back out. It's the normal operation, but an extra job with your hands full. I'm getting accustomed to it, still a little irritating.

Marissa Cuevas

The size works well for me, both spread out and folded away.

I really like its appearance, even though it doesn't look quite like the one I lost. The size works well for me, both spread out and folded away. My reservation is the force needed to push the shaft back after the button closes the canopy. I have to brace the top against something solid to get it locked down. Hoping that gets a bit easier with more use.

Glenda Nielsen

Already planning on another one!!!

Already planning on another one!!! Looks nice and the opening button is a real help when you're carrying things and trying to get through a door. It has handled breezy days well, although it did flip inside out once. Nothing got damaged and it was simple enough to put right again, didnt stop it working at all. Still pleased with it.

Holly Houston

Feels like a well put together umbrella.

Feels like a well put together umbrella. For me the cover is just too small -- I should have checked what roughly 41 inches across would actually mean, because it sounded plenty big enough. Tried it in light rain and I was still getting wet from the neck down, Im six feet tall. Not sure I'd want to find out how that feels in heavier rain.If it was only that Id probably call it four stars. What surprises me is how long it is packed away compared with the cover you get. My other, bigger umbrella is about 55 inches across and 14 inches folded, whereas this is about 41 across and 16 folded. So the larger canopy somehow comes in a shorter package, which is what I wanted.I think I'll get another like the bigger one. Ive already got rid of the packaging for this anyway -- probably end up handing it to somebody shorter.

1.

1. Looks very nice2. Feels strong.3. Has kept the rain off my shoulders & upper body well, which is what I need from it.4. Gives enough cover without looking enormous - I am a slim 5.2 and it feels in proportion when I carry it. Overall a sensible size for me and probably other smaller women.

Ruben Pearson

Happy to recommend it.

I'd been looking at this one for a while and finally ordered after my old umbrella gave out. It has a solid feel and has handled the rain and wind I've used it in without fuss. It looks good too, and people have commented on it when I'm out. Happy to recommend it.

Jillian Vasquez

It fits in the bag I take to work.

It fits in the bag I take to work. Closing it was the bit to get used to. The button shuts the canopy but the telescoping part needs pushing in manually. Works fine, just takes a bit more effort to pack it away than I was expecting. Overall its been useful, I'd just want a lower price before getting another.

Ebony Zimmerman

A dependable, nicely put together umbrella.

Number three for me now (the other two got left behind somewhere). It comes travelling with me and fits in my laptop bag without much fuss, but opens out to give decent coverage. A dependable, nicely put together umbrella. I especially appreciate how much give there is in the ribs when it's breezy.

Molly Romero

My second folding umbrella and one always goes out with me.

My second folding umbrella and one always goes out with me. The first is still around after 3 yrs. but looks tired now. I do keep an eye on the breeze tho....I don't expect a little umbrella to enjoy being battered....lesson learned with the old one! This feels solid, opens quickly, and folds small enough for my bag. That's why I'm happy to carry it every day.

Julia James

Not an exciting purchase to everyone, but I'm delighted with it.

Finally treated myself after too many wet soccer and baseball practices. (You know you're getting older when an umbrella sounds like a good birthday present!) Feels sturdy, and apparently looks good enough for my 14 year old to keep borrowing it. The button makes opening it simple, and there's enough shelter for me in my folding chair. Not an exciting purchase to everyone, but I'm delighted with it.

For the morning walk to my kindergartener's bus this has been great.

For the morning walk to my kindergartener's bus this has been great. We can both tuck under it and stay mostly dry in a downpour. It needs a firmer grip if the wind picks up (fair enough for an umbrella). Feels well put together and suits that short walk nicely.

Eddie Mathis

She's really pleased with her umbrella.

This was a Christmas gift for my 9 year old daughter and she absolutely loves it. The price seemed fair to me. I did worry when I saw the padded envelope, as I expected a box, but it had been carefully wrapped inside and came out looking fine. She's really pleased with her umbrella. Thank you :)

Elizabeth Barrett

The sleeve is useful for carrying it in her school bag.

My granddaughter started kindergarten and she is delighted with this umbrella! She likes pressing the button to open it, and I help push it down again afterwards. The sleeve is useful for carrying it in her school bag. Feels well put together and has made rainy school mornings easier!

Sharon Mann

I wanted an umbrella I could feel confident taking out in the latter.

Rain is practically part of daily life where I live in the Pacific Northwest. Still, there's everyday rain and then there's the kind that seems determined to find your collar. I wanted an umbrella I could feel confident taking out in the latter. This one feels substantial without being a nuisance to carry, and it opens without a struggle. Closing the canopy is quick too. Nothing about it has that flimsy, disposable feeling. So far it has kept me dry in the rain, and I'm pleased to have it ready for the next wet day.

Clayton Cole

This is a tidy, practical umbrella rather than anything flashy.

This is a tidy, practical umbrella rather than anything flashy. I'm a college student and needed one I could put in my backpack and carry around without feeling like a dork. It fits alongside my things in the main section, and there's enough coverage when it's up to keep the rain off properly. The construction seems solid and the button saves some fiddling when I'm going between buildings. Nothing complicated about it - I would definitely recommend it.

Robin Burke

It has already done well in a windy downpour.

The umbrella I used to keep in the car wasn't much use when the rain came with wind, so I decided to try this one. The price seemed reasonable even though I hadn't found much written about it. It has already done well in a windy downpour. Two people can get underneath if they stay close, though I mainly use it alone. I particularly like pressing the button to pull the canopy shut before getting into the car. The stem stays extended until you compress it manually, so you still have to find space for it while climbing in. That bit is slightly awkward, but overall it does what I wanted. If it keeps holding up like this, I will consider it money well spent.

Norma Lambert

Open, I still get the coverage I liked before.

Losing my old automatic umbrella bothered me more than I expected. It had a generous canopy and I was so used to having that button that I really didn't want to start over with something different. After looking around I decided to take a chance on this one. Well, losing the other one may have worked out for the best! Folded up, this is shorter, although a little thicker, and actually goes all the way into my backpack instead of poking out of the top. In the hand it seems lighter, but the frame doesn't have that flimsy feeling I was worried about. Open, I still get the coverage I liked before. The button action is smooth both ways; once the canopy has collapsed, I just compress the telescoping section to put it away. Oh, and the oval handle is much nicer to grip than I thought it would be. Not something I paid attention to when choosing, but I notice it every time I use it. For the money, I honestly wasn't expecting to like a replacement this much.

Mitchell Elliott

For what I paid, I'm happy enough.

Most days I'm carrying a briefcase, sometimes a box of files as well, and I wanted better coverage without lugging a giant umbrella. This one has been useful so far. It covers me comfortably (I'm not a big person) but I still need to keep the papers close rather than held out to the side. The appearance is fairly plain, not fancy and not cheap looking. The sleeve is a bit basic, though fine for storage. For what I paid, I'm happy enough.

Darin Atkins

Excellent umbrella for one person.

Excellent umbrella for one person. I should point out that the cover is generous without being one of those enormous umbrellas that takes over the pavement. For me that's ideal, enough shelter without worrying about catching everybody passing by. You could squeeze a second person underneath, but dont expect much space between you. As something to carry for myself it has been just right.

Ruben Hurst

I didn't expect a black umbrella to look so lovely!

I didn't expect a black umbrella to look so lovely! The material feels really nice and the black has a rich look, not washed out. This was a present for my mother and she is delighted with it. She uses it for shade and has enough cover over her shoulders without a huge umbrella to carry around. It seems like it will last well. I can see it being just as useful when it rains :) Now I'm thinking I should get one for myself too. Practical but still beautiful, which is what I was hoping for :)

Rodney Lutz

Never been let down by this brelly and keep meaning to write about it.

Never been let down by this brelly and keep meaning to write about it. Now I've got a tablet so apparently there's no excuse.Work takes me across a huge parking lot and between buildings where the breeze really funnels through. Plenty of rainy mornings on that route and this umbrella just carries on doing its job. I can get to work dry without a big fuss, which is all I wanted. I head across that lot smiling!

Debra Peterson

Such a lovely little detail from the day.

Our daughter had the wedding she had dreamed of. She and her dad arrived for the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage, and she held this beige umbrella open over her shoulder. It looked so pretty with everything and gave her some shade too. Such a lovely little detail from the day. I would certainly recommend it for that use.

Chelsea Carrillo

Lets see in actual rain.

For the money the quality is impressive, almost a fancy feel. Lets see in actual rain. Opened up it seems enough for 2 if they stand close. The oval carabiner handle clips onto my bag,, nice for carrying on the outside. Pushing the shaft Back in is firm so it feels like a proper thing.

Geoffrey Rodgers

A longer grip would have made this an easy five for me.

Enough cover for me on my own and has kept me dry through several proper downpours. I hadn't noticed in the photos that the handle is a closed oval loop, which actually looks quite smart. It is easy to grab, but the part you grip is rather short. My hands are a little larger than average and I end up holding it with only 3 or 4 fingers. Not a major problem, just less comfortable than I'd hoped. A longer grip would have made this an easy five for me.

Heidi Gaines

Went with green and I'm very happy with how it looks!

Ordered a pair, keeping one at home and the other in my truck. Only had one rainy outing with it so far, but it feels solid and packs down nicely for the cover it gives. There is a little weight to it, though I don't mind that when it feels well put together. My husband and I shared it walking close together and stayed dry in light rain. Went with green and I'm very happy with how it looks!

Jeffery Fields

I've had this umbrella around a year now.

I've had this umbrella around a year now. It work pretty well in rain and hasn't been turning inside out on me. After summer break I started carrying it again...it feels heavier than I'd like in my bag. The button shuts the canopy, not the whole stem, so there's still some pushing to put it away. Alright overall but not quite as handy as I wanted.

Bethany Robles

the handle is a closed oval loop, quite handy to hold onto.

this was meant to be a gift but i ended up keeping it, liked it too much lol. its a good size open without being a pain to carry, and the green looks nice. the handle is a closed oval loop, quite handy to hold onto. one press pops it open and another folds the fabric down, then i finish shortening it myself.that part isnt difficult, just not all done by the button. i havent owned it long enough to talk about years of use, but it feels properly put together. we dont have endless rainy days where i live, so mostly this will come out for the odd shower rather than anything too wild. plenty of cover for me and my dog if he stays close on his leash.its a nice umbrella, now i'll have to find another gift.

Anita Dominguez

I use a larger umbrella when I really need extra coverage.

I use a larger umbrella when I really need extra coverage. For my office trips and lighter rain, this folding one is much more useful. It gives me enough cover without a full length umbrella to lug around afterwards. If I were standing outside in a heavy thunderstorm, I'd still want something bigger. For everyday use this makes sense, though it isn't the smallest thing to find room for in a bag.

Carla Houston

Opening with the button is straightforward.

One of three umbrellas I bought from Haven, and this cream white makes a nice change from my usual darker ones. Opening with the button is straightforward. Pressing it again draws the fabric and ribs together, which is a feature I hadn't used before. You still need to push the telescoping shaft down by hand afterwards, so it doesn't put itself completely away. My only small gripe is being careful where my thumb sits when shaking off the water, as I don't want to press the button accidentally. Not had it long enough to judge years of wear, but everything has behaved properly so far.
