Decent spread once it's open.

Decent spread once it's open. One press and up it goes. Construction seems sound. The loop sits comfortably in my hand. On the practical side, there's very little for me to complain about. However...the blue isn't quite the blue I thought I was ordering from the picture on my screen. In the photo I was seeing a fairly vivid, rich blue, something that would stand out straight away. In person it looks more subdued to me, and in ordinary daylight it doesn't have quite that same bright look. The black underneath gives it a darker appearance from below, too. Nothing wrong with that combination, just not the impression I had from looking at the listing. I might have picked another colour if I'd seen this one in person first. I tend to pick an umbrella I can spot quickly among everyone else's, partly so I can find mine and partly so somebody else won't absent-mindedly head off with it. This one is recognizable enough, but not quite the cheerful standout I had pictured. So...a small disappointment on looks, not on use. I'd still go back for it if I left it behind; I just wouldn't call the colour my favourite part. Four stars.

What a good umbrella!

What a good umbrella! Walking from the train to my office this morning was wet and blustery, but the canopy held its shape and I arrived without getting soaked. The ribs have some give rather than feeling completely rigid, which I appreciate. The button is handy too - press it to open, press again to gather the canopy, and then push the shaft together to finish putting it away. The sleeve gives it a tidy look when everything is packed up. For anyone wondering about that final push... The button shuts the CANOPY. The telescoping part still needs pressing together to get it short again, which is normal for this umbrella. It doesn't mean you're left wrestling with it open. That part seems fairly straightforward to me... and certainly not enough to spoil an otherwise lovely umbrella.

Really happy with it and glad I upgraded.

Glad I spent a little more! The cheap umbrella I picked up when it was pouring wasn't much use, so I wanted something that felt properly made. This has been great for my walk to the office through the city. The cream white looks lovely, and the size is manageable around people on the pavement. It has kept its shape on windy walks too, which was a big relief! Really happy with it and glad I upgraded. You could squeeze a second person underneath if necessary, though I think it's much more comfortable as a one person umbrella.

First impression is a quality umbrella, both in appearance and feel.

Ordered August 8, collected from the post office August 31. First impression is a quality umbrella, both in appearance and feel. The button works for opening and for drawing the canopy closed, and the loop handle is comfortable. I'm satisfied overall, though the green seems a little less attractive in person than it did in the photo.

Dwayne Kemp

This umbrella has done that job nicely.

My main reason for choosing this was to stay dry on rainy, breezy days without always reaching for a raincoat. This umbrella has done that job nicely. I already keep smaller umbrellas in my car and backpack for unexpected showers, but wanted something with a bit more coverage when the forecast is wet. This one gives me that while still folding down. On days when I know I'll need an umbrella, this is the one I take out with me.

Just worth bearing in mind if you want a very light bag umbrella.

Strong and neatly finished, which I appreciate. What keeps it at four stars for me is carrying it in my purse, where the extra heft is noticeable. Probably a fair trade for something that feels solid, rather than an actual fault. Just worth bearing in mind if you want a very light bag umbrella.

Stacey Hughes

It opens with a nice firm snap and has felt steady in a breeze.

After reading quite a few good comments I eventually bought one of these. I travel often with work so I wanted something that would fit in my bag rather than a long umbrella. Overall it has been a very decent buy. It looked smart out of the packaging---I liked the whole finish of it. What I hadn't quite understood was the closing part. The button gathers the canopy, then you have to press the shaft back into the handle yourself to get it ready again. Not a problem once I knew, just not completely automatic all the way. It opens with a nice firm snap and has felt steady in a breeze. Really like the size packed away.

We share this on the walk to the car and have both stayed dry.

We share this on the walk to the car and have both stayed dry. I picked the gray as it looked less like the usual plain black umbrellas. Opens up easily and folds away nicely, and it hasn't been hard to hold steady when the wind picks up. no wrestling with it just to keep it over our heads.

Mallory Rush

There's enough cover for me, and I can use it for shade as well.

The black is quite plain in person, but the overall shape is what I expected. It opens with a good quick action when I press the button, and the handle feels solid enough. The sleeve is rather snug; I have to straighten everything out properly before it goes back in. Once it's in there, it makes a neat package to keep until the next rainy spell. I let it dry out before putting it away, which seems sensible rather than much of a chore. There's enough cover for me, and I can use it for shade as well. Apart from the tight sleeve, I like it!

arrived in reasonable time too, would recommend

Matches the description, folds down small and opens to a regular useful size. it makes a thicker bundle than I expected, not completely flat, but seems solid and goes into my shoulder bag fine. i haven't needed to ask anything about it. arrived in reasonable time too, would recommend

The umbrella opens smoothly and the canopy has kept me dry.

Although the umbrella was protected, the outside wrapping looked rather scruffy, not the presentation I expected for the price.I flattened the creased paper, folded the loose corners underneath and secured them with tape. The parcel looked tidy after that, so the appearance was sorted rather than left bothering me. The umbrella opens smoothly and the canopy has kept me dry.

It's a much nicer umbrella to use.

For years I carried a compact umbrella I liked, then it disappeared. Possibly left behind, possibly adopted by somebody else. I made do with bargain ones for a while, which turned out not to be much of a bargain once they wore out. This time I did a bit of looking and picked this one. It's a much nicer umbrella to use. The canopy gives me enough room without making me the person blocking the entire pavement, which matters when everybody else has an umbrella up as well. It feels solid in my hand and has been manageable on the gusty stretches between buildings. The button is the part I've appreciated most. Being able to bring the canopy down quickly is something my old favourite didn't offer. You still press the telescoping section in afterwards, but that's straightforward enough. I'm very happy to have a decent everyday umbrella again.

Louis Mccarthy

Solid construction.

Solid construction. The 30 ribs give the canopy a nicely rounded, supported shape and rain runs off well. It feels manageable in the hand rather than like hauling a huge golf umbrella about. No feeling of carrying a wet marquee overhead. Liked it enough to buy one for a friend.

Curtis Davenport

Anyway, no regrets about buying it.

I had it in my head that a really good umbrella meant spending alot on some fancy handmade thing with a rare-wood handle. Didn't know what to expect from a compact one like this. But I'm quite satisfied with what I got. The canopy is a useful size and it isn't difficult to carry. I'd still choose a straight handle over this closed loop if it were up to me- perhaps there's some clever reason for the shape that I'm missing. Anyway, no regrets about buying it.

Cody Brock

On the plus side the gray umbrella itself is absolutely FINE.

The delivery side of this purchase was more irritating than it needed to be. Contacted customer support about it and they did help get it sorted. I don't see why receiving a simple umbrella has to involve any fuss. Oh well, that's dealt with now; not how I wanted to spend my time. On the plus side the gray umbrella itself is absolutely FINE. It opens properly and keeps the rain off, so there is nothing wrong with the umbrella itself.

Debra Villanueva

It covers me nicely and is easy to handle.

I bought this for shade as health problems mean I need to stay out of direct sun. Where I live is hot and sunny so I wanted something for my bag that wasn't a bother to open or put away. It covers me nicely and is easy to handle. Has been working very good for me!

Briana Khan

More than a year on, I'm still glad I bought this umbrella.

More than a year on, I'm still glad I bought this umbrella. Rain where I live tends to come with a breeze, and the really tiny umbrellas don't cover much beyond your head. This gives me enough room underneath without turning into a huge thing that I don't want to carry. I've used it on plenty of wet, breezy walks and the ribs have kept their shape. You do need to keep a firm grip, because a gust can tug at any open canopy, and it isn't going to stop rain reaching your legs if it's blowing sideways. I wouldn't expect that from a compact umbrella anyway. The only fiddly part for me is getting it wrapped up neatly after use. If I rush the folding, it's a bit of a bundle, so I let it dry and take a little more care lining everything up now. A minor nuisance rather than a real problem. The button still works smoothly, the fabric looks good, and overall it has been a very useful umbrella that I haven't felt any need to replace.

Patricia Peck

It feels quite solid and gives her plenty of coverage.

My 4 year old was thrilled to open this at Christmas and loves having an umbrella of her own. It feels quite solid and gives her plenty of coverage. We help her with the button. There's a slight new smell, and getting the fabric folded neatly afterwards takes a little practice, but otherwise it seems a well made umbrella that should last.

Melinda Fernandez

One press of the button sends the shaft out and opens the umbrella.

I'm pleased with it on the whole, especially how little space it takes up folded. One press of the button sends the shaft out and opens the umbrella. Another press draws the canopy shut, then you push the shaft back in yourself to finish packing it away. There isn't much to learn, and having it open and shut that quickly is handy when moving between the car and a doorway. The sleeve is useful too, both for keeping it tidy in storage and setting it aside indoors. The reason I've stopped at four stars is that the canopy doesn't feel quite as substantial as I'd prefer. It has handled a proper downpour, so keeping the rain off isn't my concern. With wind added, though, I find myself wanting a more solid feeling umbrella. It hasn't turned inside out while I've used it, but I do catch myself angling it carefully and sheltering it from gusts rather than just walking along without thinking about it. For a rainy day without much wind I'd be very comfortable recommending it. If wind is usually part of the rain where you are, I think a sturdier option would be worth considering, even if that meant carrying something less compact.

Sheila Simpson

I find the materials of good quality.

The delivery was slow. I find the materials of good quality. I have not tried in the rain. For the everyday needs, at this money, it is quite suitable. The finishing of material looks satisfactory. The size corresponds to the description. I am pleased with this item. I would recommend.

Taking a bit of time to choose an umbrella paid off.

Taking a bit of time to choose an umbrella paid off. I liked this one straight out of the box and actually found myself looking forward to some rain! It has a reassuringly solid feel, and in the breezes I've encountered it hasn't felt like it's trying to escape my hand. I wouldn't call any handheld umbrella completely windproof, so that isn't what I'm expecting. Compared with the flimsy ones I've used before, this is a big improvement. Quite pleased to be walking about with it.

Casey Mccann

I think it looks fantastic!

Rain was absolutely pouring when this arrived, so it got used straight away. I think it looks fantastic! There was some wind too and it felt firm rather than flimsy in my hand. The automatic opening is so handy, and another press brings the canopy down. It's a nicer build than I was expecting. Big enough to keep me covered without feeling like I'm carrying a huge golfing umbrella. For what I paid, I'm delighted with it!

Toni Guerra

This has turned out to be a very good buy for the money.

My dad needed something for the city (his old umbrella was so wide he was forever bumping people with it). He likes the beige outside and the black underneath, and especially likes being able to use a button to open it and bring the canopy in. The size suits him much better; he seems delighted with it. I had looked in shops for something similar without much luck. This has turned out to be a very good buy for the money.

Jonathon Thornton

Besides looking nice it actually works and feels sturdy.

For anyone wanting to feel a little more dressed up just walking in the rain, this does the job. Cream white canopy, black underneath, that oval loop handle. It is SO unlike the umbrellas I usually carry that I'm enjoying myself. Besides looking nice it actually works and feels sturdy.

Ian Romero

Happy with this find, it's a good umbrella.

Happy with this find, it's a good umbrella. The oval loop handle is nice to hold onto when carrying it about, and the open canopy gives decent coverage. My one niggle with the design- I'd make that handle a little slimmer...it can feel chunky when my hands are full, which does get on my nerves.

Chelsey Macdonald

For that it's been a very good purchase.

Down here near Tucson the summer sun is exhausting. sunscreen on my face gets sticky, sweats off and ends up on the phone, and a hat only shades part of me. I wanted something I could hold above me to get a bit more cover over my arms and hands too. We've had weeks of breezy days and this umbrella has been fine for my walks. It gives me a comfortable patch of shade and I feel less baked when I get home. The gray is quite understated, which I like, though an open umbrella is still a fairly big thing for a driver to notice. I keep watching turning cars at crossings regardless, because people around here aren't always looking for pedestrians.I'm not treating it as a replacement for sunscreen, just a handy way to carry some shade. For that it's been a very good purchase.

Deanna Kim

I would certainly reccommend it for anyone wanting a folding umbrella.

Very good umbrella~ the cream white was just right and looked like the photo. Opened beautifully, everything felt solid and for the price i thought it was a great buy.I would certainly reccommend it for anyone wanting a folding umbrella. I did end up returning it, only because I didn't need one after all. Didn't get a chance to try it in actual rain so I can't really judge that side, but my first impression was very good.

Lorraine Small

I'm feeling much more confident about taking it out on rainy days.

The umbrella I picked up at a convenience store started letting water through before I'd even had a year's use from it. That annoyed me enough to look for something better. This feels more substantial than I expected for a folding umbrella, but that is reassuring. I'm feeling much more confident about taking it out on rainy days.

Rachael Castillo

Feels like a very good buy for the money!

I'd been hunting for a gray umbrella for a while and this was just the sort I wanted! Looked through quite a few online before choosing it, with the reviews helping me decide. It's had plenty of outings since and has coped really well with the wet and windy weather. Feels like a very good buy for the money!

Latoya Ponce

Thank you, it is a solid umbrella and works as expected.

Thank you, it is a solid umbrella and works as expected. The canopy had noticeable creases when I unpacked it, and the folding did not look very tidy. Everything else looked clean and new, so I had no reason to think it was used. More care with presentation would be welcome, but the umbrella itself has been very good.

Charles Mosley

LOVE THIS.

I thought the inside would be lighter from the photos, but it's black underneath. The green on top looks just as I expected and it opens out a little bigger than I'd pictured. LOVE THIS. The button action feels quite brisk / strong, so I'm taking my time getting used to it. I want to look after this one because I'd like to keep it for ages!

Felicia Humphrey

just for regular rain, that is where I am.

Usually, with a folding umbrella I think about the size first, then wonder if the frame will amount to much. This one feels PROPERLY made!!!The beige is appealing too, but the support is the thing for me. Very interesting on the size /packing away, because opened up it gives useful cover and then it's back to something manageable. Not saying go chasing every storm with it... just for regular rain, that is where I am. For that combination of compact /solid I would say have a look....My opinion anyway

Luke Mcknight

A good start.

A good start. Cute umbrella, opens without a struggle, and it's surviving my son! At five he isn't exactly careful with things.UPDATE: A couple of months on and it is still in good shape. We get lots of spring rain in Portland so there have been plenty of chances to use it. It's been carried about and handled roughly, not just kept looking nice in a cupboard.

Yesenia Banks

Five stars from me for how solid this umbrella feels.

Five stars from me for how solid this umbrella feels. Bought it for my Mom, who kept saying she wanted a nice proper umbrella! She was thrilled and and thought it was lovely that I remembered. I like the spread of it once it's up. What use is one that hardly covers you? This gives her proper cover without being huge to put away. She finds it easy to carry too. Would certainly recommend it. I did spot a lower price afterwards, so perhaps have a look around before buying.

Tina Simon

Thank you for making something practical look so nice.

I wasn't completely sure how this would look from the pictures. Black can be a little dull, but this one looks really smart!!!! The size is just right to go in my purse, which makes me happy. Still waiting for a chance to take it out in the rain. I've collected umbrellas for around three years and enjoy having one I actually want to carry. Even a plain one can cheer me up on a gloomy day. Thank you for making something practical look so nice.

Frank Giles

Opens out to enough coverage to keep me dry.

Umbrellas aren't usually something I bother with, but I bought this for a vacation. Just the right size to carry in my hand, or tuck into my wife's purse. Opens out to enough coverage to keep me dry. I can't speak for it in serious wind, although I don't expect miracles from a compact umbrella. For me the important part is actually having one along when rain turns up, and this is easy enough to bring.

Curtis Sharp

My one reservation is the colour

I wanted an automatic umbrella with an oval handle, without going too large. (Mainly for the car and taking along to professional events.) This meets those requirements and the construction feels sound. My one reservation is the colour; the black is sensible but a bit more plain than I had hoped. Functionally, though, it has done everything I needed.

Sarah Boone

Why start looking for something different?

I'm ordering another because I misplaced mine -- not because it wore out. That one had been with me for years. I appreciated how little fuss there was using it and this replacement has that same solid feel. The button does its job, it packs away neatly, and I already know I like carrying it. Why start looking for something different?

Dawn Dawson

Decent build and the material feels substantial.

Decent build and the material feels substantial. Holding up well so far. The loop handle is a little small for my hand, though not enough to put me off using it. I've had no trouble in normal rain with a bit of breeze. Packs away into my backpack without taking up much room, especially for how much cover it gives when it's open.

Frederick Li

My four-year-old son was thrilled to have his own green umbrella!

My four-year-old son was thrilled to have his own green umbrella! The button is simple for him to press and it opens right up. He can fold the canopy with it as well, though I do the final push to shorten the shaft. That suits me just fine when it's wet and I've already got plenty to carry. Makes getting us out the door much easier!

Andre Mckay

I'm delighted with this one, it feels solid haha.

Doing well up to now.

Doing well up to now. It looks nice and opens without a struggle, and my son has managed not to wreck it! He is keen to have it out whenever it rains.UPDATE: A couple of months on and it still looks good. We get lots of spring rain here in Portland, so it hasn't been sitting unused. Quite pleased with how it's stood up to my five year old.

What a lovely surprise!!!

An umbrella caught my eye in a shop window years ago, but I couldn't bring myself to spend that much on one. My husband remembered and surprised me with this one as a gift. What a lovely surprise!!! The blue is beautiful and it feels well made, not just nice to look at. Opens easily, closes neatly and is a sensible size to have with me. Folded up it goes into my purse, which matters to me as much as how it looks. Well worth having!

Blake Proctor

Still, the umbrella's look very nice and I'm pleased with them.

I ordered a pair for our upcoming wedding and wasn't entirely sure how a compact umbrella would look with everything else. Having opened them, I feel much happier about that!! They look smart and the canopy has a nice, even shape -- much nicer than I expected! I appreciate that they fold away rather than leaving us with two long umbrellas to find room for. The button is helpful too, one press and they're ready. They're a little more substantial to hold than I had pictured, so not quite as dainty as expected. Still, the umbrella's look very nice and I'm pleased with them.

Johnny Cooley

Rainy days are a good deal less bothersome with this umbrella along.

Rainy days are a good deal less bothersome with this umbrella along. There is plenty of cover once it is open, and it is useful for shade as well. It feels solid in use; and for what I paid, I consider it very good value indeed. The gray is quiet and smart rather than flashy. Very nice! The button is straightforward: one press opens the canopy and another brings it shut. The telescoping section then needs pushing down by hand, which is simply the last step in putting it away. I have been using this as my usual umbrella and am quite happy with that arrangement. The fabric has a more substantial feel than I expected from something that folds down this small. It doesn't feel flimsy; and the many flexible ribs give the canopy a nicely supported shape. It has stayed comfortable to manage in ordinary breezy rain, too. Another point in its favour is how practical it is between uses. The closed oval handle gives me a comfortable grip, and the sleeve keeps everything tidy once the umbrella is dry and put away. These aren't spectacular things to talk about, perhaps; but they make a difference with something you expect to use regularly. I would certainly recommend it for everyday use. It provides a generous amount of shelter without making storage a nuisance, and I feel I have spent my money sensibly. A very satisfactory umbrella!

Shelia Galvan

Maybe somebody will be jealous.

Haven't taken it out in a real blow yetLooks big enough to share with your lady if you stand close, without leaving a whole shoulder out. The loop gives my larger hand something decent to grip. Doesn't have that tiny flimsy umbrella look that makes a guy feel like a cheap *ss. It has a solid look to it, like you know what you're doing just carrying it. Maybe somebody will be jealous. Thats their problem. I'd say go for it.

Daryl Miller

This one has been solid from the first use.

After wearing out two or three cheap umbrellas, I wanted one that didn't seem disposable from the start. This one has been solid from the first use. My girlfriend and I can squeeze under it together, but it still stores by my desk without being in the way. It's not awkward on a crowded pavement either. The oval handle is comfortable in my hand, and I don't have to grip a tiny knob the whole time. So far it has been a much better buy than the cheap ones I kept replacing.

Darius Bradshaw

I lost my previous umbrella and was pleased to find this one again.

I lost my previous umbrella and was pleased to find this one again. The green is lovely on those dull wet days. Press once to open, then again to close the canopy. I finish by pressing the telescoping sections together by hand and gathering the fabric neatly around them. Really straightforward once you've done it.

Ashley Larsen

Worth a look if you need a decent umbrella.

Typical, I get new umbrellas and the forecast turns dry. Everything about the construction feels good and the button works smoothly. For what they cost I'm very satisfied. I picked up two, keeping one in the car and the other near the front door. Worth a look if you need a decent umbrella.

Chase Osborn

What he never seems to have is an umbrella when the rain starts.

My fiancé has the whole tough biker look, but his taste in sci fi and fantasy is another matter entirely. What he never seems to have is an umbrella when the rain starts. I thought it would make a gift that was fun but actually useful, too. The quality impressed me when it arrived, and the people at work all wanted a look. He still insists umbrellas aren't really his thing. (So being soaked through is a hobby now? ;P) Well, if he leaves it sitting there, I am MORE than willing to take it out myself! It feels well made and looks good, so either way it won't be going to waste. Recommended for anyone who actually enjoys having an umbrella.
