Would happily have another of these!!!

Would happily have another of these!!! Pretty to carry and the button is such a help when I'm managing bags or going through a door. It's handled breezy rain well, although one gust flipped the canopy over. I eased it back into shape and it was fine, with no damage. It didnt need anything clever doing to it and I'm still using it happily.

Solid feeling frame, sensible weight, nice fabric.

Solid feeling frame, sensible weight, nice fabric. Most importantly it is straightforward to use.The button gets it open quickly, which I've appreciated during a week when it seemed to rain every time I stepped outside. I've used it --a lot-- and it has felt dependable. Coming indoors, another press folds the canopy in. That doesn't shorten the whole umbrella by itself; you then press the telescoping pole down until it is reset. You do need to push firmly rather than just waiting for it to shorten on its own. Once that's done it is ready to open again next time. I find the sequence easy to remember now. A practical umbrella that has already seen plenty of use here, and one I am glad to keep by the door.

Used it in rain already and it feels very solid.

Used it in rain already and it feels very solid. Haven't tried it when it's really windy so i can't comment on that yet. The finish looks good. Bigger than some folding umbrellas i have had, but extra room was what i wanted so that suits me rather than being a drawback.

Kirk Wilkins

Easy to use and worth having.

An umbrella doesn't have to look like engineering homework to be damn good. This one feels SOLID, with a flexible frame that I appreciate when the weather gets breezy. And there's enough canopy to keep my bag tucked beside me.Portability: Folds into something I can actually carry around, rather than another awkward thing to juggle.Style: Pink, simple, and much better looking than the dreary umbrellas I usually see. Love it.Bottom Line: For ordinary rainy days this is exactly the sort of umbrella I want waiting by the door. Easy to use and worth having.

This umbrella is easy to have along and I am so pleased with it.

BRILLIANT FOR SHADE. Here in Nevada the sunshine can feel like somebody has pointed enormous spotlights (the kind outside a theatre) straight at you!! Mine comes up as soon as I step outside my apartment, goes down at the car, and comes out again when I get out. I really do take it everywhere. A bad bout of sunstroke in my teens left me ill for weeks, and I have been very careful about sun ever since. Many sunscreens also upset my skin, which makes having portable shade especially important to me. This umbrella is easy to have along and I am so pleased with it. SOMETHING I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE WITHOUT ON A SUNNY DAY.

Laura Wells

It's an umbrella.

I tend to hang onto umbrellas until I lose them, so I care about how they're put together. This one feels good - solid handle, quick button action, and it fits in my bag without much rearranging. The canopy is fine for just me, but sharing it is REALLY a squeeze. I'm not particularly tall and I still wouldn't want to count on keeping two people properly covered. So it works well as my everyday carry, but for more room I'd want a bigger umbrella. Also never understood why umbrellas get called men's or women's. It's an umbrella. Odd.

Joyce Mcpherson

Taken together it seems a very solid umbrella.

Beautiful umbrella, beige colour looks just right and the surface is nicely finished. The canopy is useful for both rain and a little shade. Ribs seem strong. It opens on a button press and another press closes the canopy. Pushing the shaft back into place by hand takes some effort, but that is the normal final step. Taken together it seems a very solid umbrella. I am satisfied, even if that last push is a little firm.

Dominic Estrada

PLEASED WITH HOW IT WAS PACKED AND HOW PROMPTLY IT ARRIVED.

THIS HAS THE LOOK I WANTED--SOMETHING SIMPLE WITHOUT LOOKING DULL. THE GREEN IS EASY ON THE EYE AND IT LOOKS NICE HANGING WITH MY COATS. I HAD THOUGHT THE HANDLE WAS AN OPEN HOOK FROM THE PHOTO, BUT IT'S ACTUALLY A CLOSED OVAL LOOP--ONCE I LOOKED PROPERLY IT MADE SENSE! HANGS FINE ON MY COAT RACK ANYWAY. PLEASED WITH HOW IT WAS PACKED AND HOW PROMPTLY IT ARRIVED.

I'd certainly recommend them.

Can't see why an umbrella needs to be thought of as just for women. I'm a dad and use mine quite happily. I got three altogether, keeping one and giving the other two to my daughter for Christmas. They fold up neatly, so they're not a nuisance to take along. I particularly like being able to crack the car door, put it outside and press the button before stepping out into the rain. Pressing again gathers the canopy, not the whole pole. You still push the shaft back down by hand to pack it away. Mine has worked well over several uses, and my daughter hasn't had any complaints either. I'd certainly recommend them.

Definitely glad I have this one for the commute :)

Between buses and walking everywhere, I end up in the rain more often than I'd like. My hair is naturally curly too, so pulling a hood over it on the way to work isn't really the solution for me. This umbrella has been great for keeping my head and shoulders dry without squashing my hair, which is pretty much what I wanted! There's a decent amount of cover when it's open, but I can still fold it away into my bag afterwards. It does take up a bit of room in there, though that doesn't bother me much. I especially appreciate being able to pop it open with a button when the rain starts. Definitely glad I have this one for the commute :)

Back to get another because I've been so pleased with this one.

I've tried more cheap umbrellas than I care to count, and a few expensive ones that didn't impress me much either. This one has been in regular use for 3 YEARS now and has earned its place in my bag. The opening still feels smooth and the canopy closes with the button just as it should. There is a reassuring amount of support in the frame, rather than that flimsy feeling I was used to. It has dealt well with the wet and blustery days I've taken it out in. I'm not claiming it can tackle any weather, just that it has been very dependable for everyday use. Back to get another because I've been so pleased with this one.

Sylvia Cooke

I'd recommend them to anyone wanting a solid umbrella for the money.

Bought two for Christmas, one for my Mother and one for my sister. Both have been delighted with them! You can tell they're properly made just by handling them, the quality shows straight away. They DO cope well with windy weather. I'd recommend them to anyone wanting a solid umbrella for the money.

Having some shade to take along made a real difference.

I'm home from two weeks travelling around China, and this umbrella earned its space in my bag. Beijing, Xi'an, Changsha and Guangzhou were all so HOT. Having some shade to take along made a real difference. I was using it several times a day and the button mechanism never gave me any trouble. On the Great Wall a gust turned the canopy inside out, but it went back to its usual shape straight away. The best part was being able to make a bit of shade whenever we stopped somewhere exposed. In that heat and humidity I already felt sticky enough, so having something I could simply open over my head was lovely. It wasn't just for the sunshine either. We had an afternoon of showers in Xi'an and I stayed dry beneath it. Once folded, it went into my messenger bag without a struggle. I carried it around all day and didn't find the weight a nuisance, which matters when everything else is hot and tiring. I'm very fair and not someone who copes well with the heat, so it was one of those things I kept reaching for throughout the trip. Very glad I packed it.

My main reservation is the size when carrying it.

I'm six foot one and wanted a well made umbrella for winter, with enough cover that I wouldn't feel tucked under something tiny. After looking through a few styles, I chose this for the price and design. The frame feels substantial and the oval loop handle gives me a decent grip. I haven't used it in serious wind, so I can't judge that, but in ordinary rain it has been fine. My main reservation is the size when carrying it. Compact compared with a full length umbrella, yes, but roughly 40cm folded still isn't tiny. I had pictured something shorter, and it feels a bit bulky when I'm heading out with little else to carry. That's a preference, not a problem with the construction. I'd like the same design in a smaller folded package. In summary: well made and useful coverage, but check the folded length before assuming compact means something you barely notice carrying.

Sheri Kramer

Rain is almost an excuse to take this out now.

Rain is almost an excuse to take this out now. Pushing the button and watching it open is oddly satisfying. I can find the button easily, too. There's good room for me underneath and it feels steady when the wind picks up. A quick shake gets most of the drops off before going indoors. The fabric feels substantial rather than flimsy. Just a really solid umbrella that I'm hoping to keep for ages.

Evan Martin

For normal rainy days it's been dependable.

The reviews persuaded me to try this and it's given me several years of good use. I don't expect any folding umbrella to ignore strong wind, so I still angle it into gusts rather than treating it as indestructible. For normal rainy days it's been dependable. Folded, it fits in my backpack and isn't a nuisance to bring along, which means I actually have it when needed.

Richard Harmon

Really nice service.

Can't wait for a rainy day to take this out, it looks beautiful. I appreciated how quickly my message was answered and how helpful the reply was. Really nice service. The umbrella feels good in hand, though I haven't tested it outside yet. Will add more here when I've had the chance!

Plenty of coverage, feels strong and opens without a struggle!

First outing with this was last week and, honestly, it was a pleasure to use. Plenty of coverage, feels strong and opens without a struggle! Money well spent. I'm already considering another so there's always one handy rather than searching for this one.If there was anything I'd change, I'd like the option of a plain straight grip instead of the closed oval loop, but that's just personal preference.

Haley Bean

This has been a good middle ground.

My previous umbrella kept flipping on the long walk to the office, and I already carry enough without adding a full-length umbrella. This has been a good middle ground. It's a little longer folded than the old one, but still goes in my computer bag and doesn't feel like much extra to carry. The frame has handled the windy days I've used it on in Ohio, and there's enough canopy to keep me and my things dry. I also think it looks smart. For what I paid, I'm happy to have something that feels sturdy without being a pain to lug along.

Gabriela Middleton

The price seems fair for the quality.

Still waiting to try it in a proper wind, but it looks smart and feels well made. My last umbrella gave me no confidence at ALL when the breeze picked up, so I'm glad to have replaced it. Already suggested this to a friend! The price seems fair for the quality.

Kiara Chen

This has been a really good companion.

I wanted something for rainy days in New York that I wouldn't immediately regret carrying. If you've spent much time walking there, you know the routine. You leave an umbrella in a coffee shop, or go out without one because the sky looked fine, and suddenly you're buying whatever happens to be near the door of the nearest shop. I was tired of that whole business and decided to get a decent one and actually keep track of it for once. This has been a really good companion. It feels substantial when you're holding it, not like something you're just waiting to give up on you. I've used it in rain with some wind whipping between the buildings and stayed dry, without having to wrestle the canopy back into shape. Obviously I'm not going out looking for a gale to test it, I just want to walk where I'm going without getting soaked. It did that, and folding it down afterwards wasn't a big production either. I kept it for years before moving somewhere drier, then passed it along to a neighbour who could make more use of it. A good umbrella, and one I was sorry to part with.

Jaime Pacheco

My husband has been using this umbrella.

My husband has been using this umbrella. it looks nice and feels solid, with more coverage than I expected from something that folds up. I find it a bit weighty in my hand, but it doesn't bother him. A good choice if a sturdy feel matters more than having the lightest umbrella.

Victoria Tyler

A very good umbrella from what I've seen so far.

When this umbrella arrived I gave the frame a good look over, as that's the part I tend to worry about. The fittings looked tidy and the whole frame felt secure. Having now used it in a decent downpour, I'm happy with it. It opens promptly, feels solid overhead and has kept me dry. A very good umbrella from what I've seen so far.

Rodney Hubbard

I havent tried it in much wind so cant say about that

Its a handy size for one person and easy to bring along, keeps u dry in normal rain. The feel is pretty basic so Im not expecting some big heavy duty umbrella, but for the rain we usually get around here its been fine. I havent tried it in much wind so cant say about that

Carolyn Ingram

Good value for what you get.

Good value for what you get. The fabric isn't especially thick, but the umbrella has kept me dry through the rain and sleet we've had recently. I don't need anything fancy, just something useful, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a sensible everyday umbrella.

Dennis Santana

My daughter was SO pleased with her umbrella!

My daughter was SO pleased with her umbrella! It looks lovely and she finds the oval loop comfortable to hold. Some novelty handles we looked at in shops were so bulky that she couldn't get a decent grip, especially when trying to keep hold in rain. This is MUCH more manageable for her, and she actually enjoys carrying it around. :)

Luis Shields

More importantly, the canopy has kept the rain off me.

Living in a place where rain is a regular occurrence, I prefer to have an umbrella within reach rather than hope the weather will hold. A shower can become quite heavy before there is much chance to get under cover. It doesn't take a long journey to get soaked, either, which is why a folding umbrella earns its place in my car. The size of this one suits that purpose well. Folded up, it is easy to leave on the back seat without having something long in the way. The automatic opening is probably the part I appreciate most. It isn't a new invention, but being able to get the canopy up with one press is useful when you are trying to leave the car in rain. It unfolds promptly and gives me a reasonable amount of coverage without being awkward to carry. That convenience may seem fairly small, but it is something I notice each time I use it. The other aspect I appreciate is the way it behaves when a shower comes with some wind. The ribs have some flexibility rather than making the whole umbrella feel completely rigid. In ordinary breezy conditions it has been manageable, and I haven't had that constant struggle of trying to keep everything pointing the right way. There is still a pull on it, as you would expect, but I have felt in control of it. More importantly, the canopy has kept the rain off me. I wouldn't take that as a reason to go out in a storm, just a useful quality for everyday wet weather. My reservation is about the plastic parts, which leave me wondering how well they will wear over time. Nothing has gone wrong, but they don't give quite the same impression of durability as the rest. At this price, though, I think the balance is reasonable. There are sturdier options around, but for keeping nearby and using when needed, this has been a worthwhile purchase.

Joy Osborn

Would happily recommend it!

There's much more room under this than I expected from a folding umbrella. It feels STRONG and has been very steady in the rainy, windy weather I've used it in. For the price I'm impressed with the quality, and I've stayed nicely dry underneath. Would happily recommend it!

Bonnie Smith

Summary: A practical umbrella with a good appearance overall.

Positives: I've used it for four months through rain and windy weather and it has done its job consistently. The button operation is straightforward and the whole thing feels solid. It has a simple, classic appearance.Negatives: The oval handle works perfectly well, but I find its shape a little bulky looking. A slimmer handle would suit my taste better and probably earn the extra star.Summary: A practical umbrella with a good appearance overall. I'm a fairly large man and get enough cover on my own. Trying to keep a second person under it is a different matter; it gets cramped. For everyday use by one person, I have no real complaints about its performance and am satisfied with it.

A little blue to brighten up a grey day!

A little blue to brighten up a grey day! This is a lovely looking umbrella, and having a decent canopy overhead makes going out in the rain less miserable. It doesn't have to be complicated to be both pretty and useful. I'm happy with the space underneath and how easily it opens.Pros: Lovely colour; Good coverCons: The button collapses the canopy easily, but pressing the pole down afterwards needs a firm push

Jonathan English

So far I am pleased, it feels well made.

Good coverage for what I need and it feels steady when there's a bit of wind about. That's the main thing for me, I don't want to be fighting an umbrella every time the weather turns. I used to have two of this sort and managed to leave one somewhere. Still annoyed with myself about that. Anyway, this is the replacement. It's been years since I bought the others so I wasn't sure what to expect from a new one. So far I am pleased, it feels well made. Hopefully it stays that way because I do expect a decent umbrella to last.

Jeff Preston

Money well spent!

Money well spent! I grabbed an $8 umbrella when I got caught in a downpour and regretted settling for something so flimsy. This feels much better for the walk to my office in the city. There's enough room over me without feeling like I'm taking up the entire pavement, which matters when everyone is hurrying past. It has stayed in shape on windy wet days too! I'm so glad I bought it instead of just putting up with the cheap one. You could squeeze two people under it briefly, but I mostly think of it as an umbrella for one.

Sherri Rodriguez

Those questions make no sense to me.

Why am I being asked about the fun factor and educational value of an umbrella? Those questions make no sense to me. It is NOT something I bought as a toy, I wanted it to keep rain off. On that basis it gets five stars from me, and my daughter is delighted with it. That seems a much more useful way to judge it!

Frederick Young

Sturdy umbrella, very nicely made

Sturdy umbrella, very nicely made; a little substantial for a woman to carry. The gray is rather sober, not a shade I find especially pretty. My brother likes the look, but it isn't particularly feminine. What costs it a star is packing it away with gloves on. Pressing the button draws the canopy shut as it should, then the shaft needs a firm push to shorten it. With gloves I find that last bit awkward to manage. Nothing has gone wrong with it, I would simply prefer less effort there. Otherwise the quality is excellent.

Linda Cooper

The green came across stronger than I had wanted.

The green came across stronger than I had wanted. I was after something quieter, not such a noticeable colour.I tried it with my plain dark coat and got the more subdued look I wanted. That settled it for me, and the umbrella has done a perfectly decent job in rain.

Kelly Castro

For a folding umbrella it gives decent cover.

A reasonable size when open, although I had pictured something a bit more oversized. For a folding umbrella it gives decent cover. The button opens it quickly and also closes the canopy You do still push the shaft down yourself, which felt quite stiff on my first try but is easier now I know how to hold it. The sleeve is handy for keeping it together in a bag. Overall a useful umbrella, just not an enormous one.

Carol Flores

Good value compared with the umbrellas I've had before.

Living in Seattle means mine gets used a lot, and so far it's holding up well. Good value compared with the umbrellas I've had before. Apparently umbrellas here are only for tourists. Nonsense, people can have their damp hoodies, I'd rather have something over my head. The handle is a closed oval loop rather than a hook, which gives me a handy way of holding it when it's folded. I do like being able to carry an umbrella comfortably between showers. The button works when I want it to and it stays shut the rest of the time. No fuss, and I can get on with where I'm going. Hopefully it stays this reliable over plenty more wet days.

Nancy Dunlap

Nothing fussy about it, just a properly useful umbrella.

Cheap umbrellas have let me down enough times that I finally decided to pay a little more. This one has justified that decision. It opens readily and feels solid in use, with enough room for two if we stand close. Folded, it sits neatly in the storage space in my car door, so it is there when I need it. Nothing fussy about it, just a properly useful umbrella. I'd recommend it to someone wanting something dependable.

Cameron Cooley

Not quite that small.

I'm very happy with it, though there's a bit more weight than I expected. Saw "compact" and pictured something for my handbag. Not quite that small. The button closing the canopy is handy and it all feels well put together. Opened up, there's enough cover to squeeze two people underneath if needed. Mine will live in the car, ready for those sudden downpours. I like the blue too. Simple color that I won't get tired of.

Kristopher Garrett

Happy to recommend.

Got this for my 11 yr old son's walk home from school. We get plenty of rain and gusts here, and so far it has coped nicely. The automatic opening makes it straightforward for him to use. A touch bulky in his school bag, but otherwise a sensible size and good value. Happy to recommend.

Ruben Cline

Sturdy Green Folding Umbrella

Sturdy Green Folding Umbrella Unpacking this, I was struck by how substantial it felt for a compact umbrella. The fabric has a good weight, the loop is comfortable to hold, and the ribs look as though some thought went into them. I've come across cheaper folding umbrellas that seem flimsy--almost disposable--but this feels like something I can keep using for a good while. It is a reassuring size when open without being a huge thing to store afterwards. For what I paid, I think it's excellent value.

Terrance Dennis

Lovely umbrella!

Lovely umbrella! Keeps me covered in the rain and the blue makes it look cheerful too. Opens to a useful size without being a big awkward thing to carry. Not something I'd squeeze into my little purse, but easy enough to bring along. Feels sturdy and I expect to get plenty of use out of it.

Jon Wheeler

About what I hoped for overall.

Pretty, with a useful sleeve to keep it tidy inside my work bag, where it fits nicely. When opening I need a deliberate press on the button, rather than just a light tap. It is a little more substantial to carry than my smallest umbrella, but seems reasonable for the coverage. About what I hoped for overall.

Mindy Reeves

The loop handle is comfortable to hold.

I hadn't owned an umbrella in a while and came across this while browsing for something else. It caught my eye straight away. My wife says I always seem to pick pink things, and she probably has a point. This shade isn't quite the one I usually go for, but I am entirely happy with it. It arrived this morning, a couple of days earlier than I had in mind, and everything was packed well. I wasn't certain whether a folding umbrella would give me enough room, so opening it up was a pleasant surprise. At my height, about 5'8", it gives me decent cover without feeling like I'm carrying a huge golf umbrella. Folded down it is a much more sensible size to put away, too. The loop handle is comfortable to hold. It should also be useful when I want a little shade, not only when it's raining.

Susan Lowe

Very useful umbrella!

Very useful umbrella! Gives good cover when the rain gets going, and the green makes it look cheerful. It's a generous size opened up but still manageable to carry. Won't go in my little purse when folded, so bear that in mind. The frame feels strong and should wear well.

Kimberly Bean

The oval handle gives their hands something to hold onto properly.

My boys are delighted with it - easy enough for them to carry and a sensible size for going out with me.I like the solid feel, not something that seems likely to fall apart after one outing. The oval handle gives their hands something to hold onto properly. There was a bit of that new packed-away smell when we opened it, nothing alarming.Leaving it open to air was all it needed and it has been great to use.

Jamie Wilson

My wife kept buying bargain umbrellas and the cost was adding up.

My wife kept buying bargain umbrellas and the cost was adding up. I wanted one she could use for longer, rather than another quick replacement. This one has a reassuringly solid frame and has coped well with breezy rain. She LOVES using it. Glad we spent a little more!

Michele Hunt

The umbrella looks lovely and I'm happy with it.

The umbrella looks lovely and I'm happy with it. About fitting it back in the sleeve, I had read the comments and tried taking a bit more care with the folds. Gather them together first and as you ease the the sleeve over give it a small twist rather than pushing the whole thing in at once and mine went in quite easily. Worth taking that extra moment. Still think it is a really pretty umbrella.

Sherry Kramer

For a bit of shade this umbrella is so handy.

For a bit of shade this umbrella is so handy. One stays in my car and I've another near the front door. Friends have borrowed others and somehow they don't seem to come home again! I chose the black this time and am very happy with it. Easy to carry about, useful when the sun is out, not just something to save for a shower.

Jocelyn Richmond

Juggling a toddler, stroller and diaper bag when it's raining?

Juggling a toddler, stroller and diaper bag when it's raining? One button gets it open.I'm not strong and always struggled with shutting umbrellas before getting into the car ... hopeless. This snaps the canopy in with a press, then I push the shaft in myself. So much quicker, and I don't get soaked doing it!
