I've bought a really durable umbrella before, unfortunately lost it later. Went for a cheaper replacement and that didn't turn out a good choice when the rain came with wind. Then I decide I'd rather pay for something decent instead of wasting more. This one is really nice in the hand, comfort and convenience both there, very pleased with the design and how easy it opens!

Pretty close to my ideal everyday umbrella.
Pretty close to my ideal everyday umbrella. Small enough to bring, plain enough for my taste, and the canopy springs open AND folds in from the button. It feels solid in normal weather, though I wouldn't expect miracles in a real storm. Most importantly, it's the sort of thing I'll actually carry rather than leave at home because it looks too fussy... which is half the battle with me.
Beverly Leblanc
Happy with the choice.
The look and shape really appealed to me, and in person it hasn't disappointed. I haven't tried it in heavy rain yet, but it has been quite manageable when the wind picked up. I wouldn't describe every detail as top end quality. Still, it feels good enough for what I paid, and I think looking after it rather than treating it roughly will make a difference. Happy with the choice.

This one has been a lovely change!!
I went looking for something sturdier because I was fed up with flimsy umbrellas on windy days. This one has been a lovely change!! It holds its shape in the breezes I've used it in, without making me fight it all the way along. Keeping my hair tucked underneath also helps avoid that wild nest look I normally get after the wind has done my hair for me. :)

A friend gave me this when I moved somewhere much rainier.
A friend gave me this when I moved somewhere much rainier. What a thoughtful gift! It's a useful size without being awkward to carry, and the whole thing feels properly put together. A press of the button gets it open quickly, which I appreciate when the weather catches me out. It has coped well with the blustery days here too. The neat shape and easy operation put it ahead of the umbrellas I had before. I liked it enough to order one for a friend myself.

after looking through the reviews i got one, the sleeve that comes with it is fine, but i put a little reinforcement in the end where the folded umbrella rests, just my own habit with cases, i'm so pleased with the umbrella that i've since got another to keep as a spare.
Isabel Howell
Folded up it is not exactly tiny though.
So far this has coped with the wind around here much better than I expected. Philadelphia makes owning an umbrella a bit of a gamble, and I was tired of the ones that immediately turn themselves inside out. This one has stayed in shape and still opens just as it did at the start. Folded up it is not exactly tiny though. It takes up most of the space I set aside in my messenger bag, and I wouldn't pick it for a little purse. That is a compromise I can live with. I'd rather carry something slightly bigger and feel reasonably confident about it when the weather gets unpleasant.
Matthew Brewer
Such a nice umbrella, sturdy and smart looking.
Such a nice umbrella, sturdy and smart looking.I appreciate the button most when I'm carrying packages , reaching for the car door and don't have a spare hand to wrestle with anything. A press brings the canopy down quickly so I can get inside, then I shorten the stem by hand. The same convenience going into a store too. It's one of those simple things that really does make life easier.

--For an ordinary rainy walk, this umbrella has kept me dry.
Let the clouds gather, let the gutters chatter!Beat out your grand announcement, thunder,And send the pavement shining beneath a thousand silver feet!Hiss, rain, upon the rooftops,Shake every sleepy leaf awake;Make all the afternoon a curtain of grey!I have no quarrel with your performance,Only with arriving soaked.--For an ordinary rainy walk, this umbrella has kept me dry. A fine little shelter.

It is handy in rain as well, so I would recommend the umbrella itself.
Bought it to use while walking round the golf course and the shade has been very welcome. It is handy in rain as well, so I would recommend the umbrella itself. Sorting out the delivery was more of a nuisance than it needed to be, but the umbrella is here and I'm enjoying it!!
Jeremiah Robbins
Overall I've been happy using it for rain and for shade.
This is a useful umbrella for taking out on the golf course, or just when you want more coverage than the really tiny folding ones. For one person there is room to keep your shoulders covered without holding it right over your head. Two people can get close underneath, but I wouldn't call it a group umbrella. It does open out to a decent size. The gray is fairly plain, which suits me, and the black on the inside gives it a neat look. The ribs have some flexibility, and it feels well put together rather than flimsy. It folds down for storage, though it is still a fairly long bundle so keep that in mind if your bag is small. I find the button handy for getting it open quickly and bringing the canopy closed afterwards. You still have to slide the telescoping section in by hand. Overall I've been happy using it for rain and for shade. Not the smallest option to carry but a sensible balance between size and usefulness

A birthday present for my boyfriend and it went down very well!
A birthday present for my boyfriend and it went down very well! It looks smart and he likes having a button to get it open. I wasn't sure how solid a folding umbrella would be, but this one feels sturdy and has worked without any trouble. We can stand under it together, just a little snug if we're both carrying things. It isn't anything complicated, just a useful present that he actually wants to take out with him.
John Meadows
Nice for a walk when my hands aren't full.
Much nicer to see in person than in a picture. The cream white is lovely and I prefer carrying it for shade to wearing a sun hat, which always leaves my head sweaty. It shades my neck and shoulders as well, not just the top of my head. Nice for a walk when my hands aren't full. It folds down for carrying and the button is straightforward to use. I've even had people ask about it while I'm out. Shade AND something useful when it rains!
Omar Vargas
That closed loop handle is different to what I'm used to.
Haven't had it long enough to judge how tough it is, but I do like the slightly unusual look. Seems a bit light, though not in a bad way. That closed loop handle is different to what I'm used to. This is NOT something I'd choose for a serious trek. For my usual outings it suits me, and with a little care I can see it lasting.
Michelle Joseph
Okay, I love this thing!
Okay, I love this thing! For what I paid, it's hard to complain. Open, it gives me more cover than I expected from something I can put in a bag. The push-button action is brilliant when I'm trying to get into the car before the rain follows me in. It closes the fabric fast, then I push the shaft down myself.Feels properly made too, A+ from me.

Carrying it once the rain stops is the less convenient part for me.
For someone who spent most of her life in a rainy place, I went a surprisingly long time without owning rain boots or an umbrella. That changed after I moved to the east coast. For a few years I bought inexpensive umbrellas without giving them much thought, but buying a new laptop made me think rather differently about keeping everything dry. I eventually settled on this one.
I've been using it for a few months and I like it, although I'm not completely sure I'd choose the same one again. Something a little lighter might fit my everyday routine better. The oval loop is comfortable enough to hold, and I appreciate being able to open it with the button when my other hand is occupied. Carrying it once the rain stops is the less convenient part for me. It folds down, but it still feels like another thing to juggle along with a book bag or backpack. I'm a smaller woman and I do notice the weight if I'm carrying it in my hand for a long stretch. None of that stops it being a good umbrella, just not quite the easiest option for my particular load of stuff.
Having said all that, there's quite a bit I enjoy about it. The Cream White is lovely, it has coped well with breezy rain, and I've been able to keep both myself and the bag with my computer dry. I'd happily recommend it for going to work, heading to an event or taking the dog out. For carrying around every single day, though, I'd probably put a bit more emphasis on lightness next time.

Handy to leave in her car or pop in a bigger bag.
My first time spending a bit more on an umbrella rather than picking up a basic one. This was a Christmas present for my wife, and she's delighted. Handy to leave in her car or pop in a bigger bag. The button operation impressed us both and the green looks smart without being fussy. Would definitely recommend it, and I may treat myself to one next.
Sophia Hickman
I don't need a better excuse than that.
Being a grandma means I can buy a little something just because I feel like it, and that's my excuse for this umbrella. Picked pink because it's my little darling's favorite color and that was reason enough for me. I don't need a better excuse than that. She absolutely LOVES it!
Hailey Payne
So far I'm happy with it, especially for the price.
Had enough of battered, bent umbrellas ending up on the porch. Those little fold-up ones never seem to last when the weather turns rough. Decided to try this one instead. It looks smart, gives decent cover, and feels reassuringly put together. So far I'm happy with it, especially for the price. Hoping this one's a keeper.
Candace Oconnell
Definitely an umbrella I'd recommend!
What a beautiful umbrella. Black gives it such a neat, smart look, a small pleasure when the weather is miserable! I bought another for my mother at Christmas and thought that one was lovely too. It feels properly made as well as looking good. Definitely an umbrella I'd recommend!
Angie Reid
Not as big as I was expecting.
Not as big as I was expecting. Enough cover for me, not my backpack, and there's no space for somebody else. That button needs a firm push, wouldn't choose it for a grandma. Aside from that it's attractive and feels strong. It held up to the wind in Chicago, which makes me feel pretty confident taking it other places!

I don't quite follow the complaints about wet trousers.
I don't quite follow the complaints about wet trousers. When rain is coming sideways, why would a normal handheld umbrella cover you right down to your shoes? That would take something closer to a portable tent.I've used this one for around two years and it has done what I expect an umbrella to do. My jacket stays dry, and yes, the bottom of my trousers can catch some rain. None of my suits have suffered for it. Angling the canopy towards the rain makes more difference than people seem to think. There is plenty of cover over my head without carrying some enormous contraption around. Afterwards it collapses into a manageable size and goes in my bag. For something I can actually take along rather than leave at home, I think it does its job very well.
Barbara Deleon
I've had mine for years now and I still love it!
I've had mine for years now and I still love it! There is a lot of rain here and it's always kept me dry! Bought my sister one because I liked it so much!! The pink looks lovely, and the button makes it quick to get ready when a shower catches me out. Worth every penny!
Travis Navarro
The cream white is pretty and I'll happily use it myself.
A very nice umbrella, just not the little child's umbrella I had in mind. I was looking through results for kids and read "one size" without checking any further. Folded it is about 40cm, and once opened the canopy is roughly 105cm across, so it is quite a lot for the child I intended it for. The cream white is pretty and I'll happily use it myself. Mentioning the size because someone else might make the same assumption I did. Check the dimensions rather than relying on a search result.
Cody Mccarty
The pink is really cute and the controls are just as pleasing.
The pink is really cute and the controls are just as pleasing. Being able to open it or bring the canopy in with one hand is useful when I'm carrying things. The oval loop handle is also handy to hold onto when I haven't brought a bag big enough to put the umbrella in.

I gave this to a bride-to-be and it got such a lovely reaction!
I gave this to a bride-to-be and it got such a lovely reaction! (I wanted something a little different...not the usual shower gift). I picked it mainly because it looks pretty, though it can certainly be used in ordinary rain as well. Getting it neatly into the sleeve was the challenging part! The button shuts the canopy, then you shorten the stem yourself. By the bridal shower I'd practiced the folding several times and had it sorted.....mostly!

Had mine for years now.
Had mine for years now. Honestly didn't expect an umbrella to stick around this long, since I'm usually lucky just to remember where I've put one. It doesn't get used every day - once a month at MOST is probably closer - but it still looks really good. All the little rib ends are where they should be and the button is still easy to press. Bout all I do is let it dry before packing it away. Still very fond of this thing :D Enough cover for me on rainy walks, without hauling around a massive umbrella alongside the preschool kids. That's a bigger plus than I expected because carrying extra stuff gets old quickly. Nothing fancy to report, it's just kept doing its job and I'm glad I bought it. Would absolutely buy another :) money well spent!
Emma Padilla
This one has been a good choice!
What I wanted was something I could carry easily without ending up with a flimsy umbrella (the kind that turns inside out at the first breeze). This one has been a good choice! It feels solid in use and hasn't given me that folding-backwards problem. The button is straightforward to use too. Small enough to bring along, but it doesn't feel like a throwaway.
Sheryl Ewing

I don't even like umbrella's, I'd usually rather be out in the rain, never felt the need to own one before, but I couldn't leave this alone.. now I find myself wanting rain just to carry it about, to be honest it's as much an accessory for me as something practical
Maxwell Strong
Opening it with the button is handy.
I was replacing a few umbrellas at home and ordered several different sorts to see what I liked. This is the one I keep reaching for. The handle is a closed loop, which gives me something decent to hold onto rather than just a little stub. Opening it with the button is handy. Another press gathers the canopy, then you press the telescoping part together yourself. Knowing that, I haven't had any trouble putting it away. I will probably keep this one for my own use, as the kids aren't always careful about stuffing wet umbrellas into bags. Had I tried it before ordering the others, I might simply have got a few of these instead. For the money it seems a sensible buy, and I'm comfortable recommending it.
Isaac Brennan
Light enough and sturdy.
Light enough and sturdy.Used it in Hawaii for shade and in a downpour, with a few sudden gusts too.The compact folded size suits me.Button opens it and brings the canopy down, then the stem needs pushing in by hand.Nicely put together and easy to pack along for the day.

Replacing the umbrella I lost on a river outing.
Replacing the umbrella I lost on a river outing. (There was an entire day of rain during that last multi-day trip, and we think a sudden gust sent the old one into the water.) I wanted a light colour, partly to brighten up a miserable day and partly so I could spot it amongst our things. The cream white appealed right away. This one feels solid and the ribs have some give, which I like more than a flimsy frame. It is a bit weighty for a compact umbrella, but I'd rather carry that than something that feels insubstantial.
Adrienne Bruce
Good umbrella for the money.
Good umbrella for the money. I'd put a small question mark beside "compact" though. yea, it folds down, but it still wants a decent sized bag, not my smallest one. What you get in return is proper coverage rather than a tiny patch over your head. Feels solid too, so I'm happy with that trade-off.
Cristina Mckee
This one has been a lovely choice.
I wanted a replacement for my old folding umbrella, with a more substantial feel this time. This one has been a lovely choice. A press opens it and another press gathers the canopy, then I compress the shaft by hand. It feels well put together. There's a bit more weight than my old one, although it still goes in my handbag without being a nuisance. Opened out, it covers me properly rather than leaving my shoulders in the rain.Folded down it makes a tidy package, which matters more to me than having the absolute smallest umbrella. I like its simple appearance too, nothing fussy about it. I've been pleased enough with mine to buy another as a present, which probably says more than anything else.
Preston Castaneda
Closing confused me for a moment.
Quite manageable even when it's open ^^ Easy to keep with me each day for a sudden shower, and the finish is nicer than I was expecting! Oh! Closing confused me for a moment. You press the button again to bring the canopy in, then shorten the telescoping pole yourself. I was looking for a little catch to squeeze at first, so maybe that saves somebody the same confusion...
Karla Frazier
I hope it will be usable for a long time.
When I first saw the umbrella, it seemed smaller than in the pictures and a little lighter than I expected, which surprised me. Once opened, however, the canopy was a reasonable size for an adult man, so it is not as small as the folded appearance suggests. There has not been any rain since it arrived, and therefore I cannot say much yet about the durability of the material. I hope it will be usable for a long time. The handle is comfortable to grip and the button is straightforward to operate. Compared with the prices I have seen locally, I think it was quite reasonably priced.

The umbrella I got after losing my old one has been good.
The umbrella I got after losing my old one has been good. Feels solid and comes in useful. The old one had lasted me years and went everywhere when it rained, and we get quite a lot here. The main difference is the size, this is smaller so there isn't as much room underneath. Not such a problem using it alone but getting another person under there is more of a squeeze. I miss the extra space, otherwise pleased with it.
Ashley Owens
Feels reasonably well made for an umbrella.
My son is delighted with his umbrella and looks pretty cute carrying it. Getting him ready for the rain isn't an argument now, although persuading him to put the umbrella away afterwards takes a bit more doing. Feels reasonably well made for an umbrella. We've taken it out something like ten times so far and haven't had any trouble with it.
Vernon Bailey
Delighted to have one again!
Delighted to have one again! The beige one I bought three years ago was great until I left it across the country last autumn. Tried a few other folding umbrellas afterwards, but I kept wishing for this one. I've ordered beige again and am expecting the same good service through the rain. Still a surprising number of compliments for an everyday umbrella!
Arthur Dickson
I'd replace it with the same one eventually.
Rain coverage has been excellent, and it opens smoothly without a fuss. After two years it still feels well put together. Only gripe is it takes up more bag space than my old little one. There's room for a friend to squeeze in beside me when needed. I'd replace it with the same one eventually.
Randy Hancock
At last, an Umbrella that feels like what I wanted.
At last, an Umbrella that feels like what I wanted. Elegant, handsome and properly sturdy! The 30 ribs give the canopy a lovely shape and it feels reassuringly strong when open. I'd only change the finish around the tip, something a little more substantial there would suit me better. That's a small personal preference though, the overall look and feel is excellent and I'm delighted with it.
Earl Oconnor
Apart from that, I'm happy with it.
Slides into my soft sided briefcase quite neatly, and once open it covers me and the bag at my side well enough. Opening is easy with the button; packing away needs a little more effort. The canopy closes at a press, but shortening the telescoping pole is a separate manual step and takes both hands for me. Not something I'd want to do while juggling other things. Apart from that, I'm happy with it.
Joanne Goodwin
Losing my first one led to buying another, which probably says enough.
Losing my first one led to buying another, which probably says enough. It isn't the lightest umbrella to take around, and personally I'd trade the button closing for less weight if that were an option. Still, it has coped nicely with the breezes here in Chicago.
Aimee Carr
Nice to have something that isn't only good for one costume.
I used this with my Halloween costume in NYC and it went down so well. Lots of people wanted pictures and could tell who I was supposed to be just from the outfit and umbrella. It looks lovely opened up, and feels substantial enough to use afterwards too. Nice to have something that isn't only good for one costume. A great finishing touch!
Dalton Rojas
so yes I would recommend them
We've come back for more of these umbrellas and are happy again they feel well made for what they cost we have a used car lot in oregon so rain and breezy days are a regular thing when we are outside with the cars and these keep us covered and look nice.so yes I would recommend them
Guy Grant
My shoulder edges can catch rain coming sideways.
I do like it, even if I apparently expected a portable roof over my entire self. As a grown man I should probably have thought that through. I'm usually a "go by the picture" shopper and imagined a little more coverage than I got. It does its job well for the size, and has felt steady while I'm holding it. My shoulder edges can catch rain coming sideways. That's mostly down to my expectations, not some great fault, and certainly not enough of a problem to make me return it.
Timothy Lewis
someone bigger might want more.
I wanted an umbrella for Chicago's rainy, windy days and it's been a useful choice. I was after something that felt sturdier, and I've had no trouble with it in the breezes so far. I'm a smaller woman and find the cover about right; someone bigger might want more. Carrying it on public transport is still a little awkward, even folded, especially with other things in my hands. For me the classic look and solid feel make up for that, and it's kept me dry on my walks.
Barry Chung
I'd recommend it to other bus and train passengers.
For someone using public transport this earns its place. I spend a lot of time waiting outside and an umbrella that gives in at every gust is no use to me. This one has been the BEST I've carried for those waits. Still take care when the wind gets really strong, nothing is magic, but it has handled my usual wet journeys very well. I'd recommend it to other bus and train passengers.
Alfred Braun
handle is easy to grip and coverage is good for me.
The gray looks neat and this folds down to a useful carrying size. button makes opening quick and brings the canopy together again. flexible ribs give it a sturdy feel without seeming rigid. rain rolls off the fabric nicely. handle is easy to grip and coverage is good for me. handy for rainy days or a little shade!
Wendy Hughes
I travel often with work and need an umbrella that packs down small.
Eventually I got this after hearing so many good things about it from different places. I travel often with work and need an umbrella that packs down small. Overall, a very decent umbrella, it really has lived up to what I heard. Everything was nicely presented---I lovet the overall look. My only downside is having to push the shaft back into the handle to reset it after the canopy closes, so the button doesn't do that last bit for you. Aside from that, opening has a good strong snap and it felt sturdy out in the wind. I really like the compact size once it is all folded away.
