My son liked his so much that I ended up ordering one for my ex-husband and another for me. The loop handle is a handy thing to hold while carrying it, and the umbrella has a smart look without being fussy. Nice to find something we all enjoy using. I'm delighted with mine.
Christina Collins
It looks just as I expected.
Folded up it doesn't look like much, then you press the button and there's a proper sized canopy. It looks just as I expected. I gave this to my daughter for christmas. She's at college in Boston and does a lot of walking and train travel, so having an umbrella she can carry easily has been useful for her.
Cynthia Cobb
Happy to recommend it.
My husband needed to retire his old umbrella, so I gave him this one just before a spell of very wet, windy weather. He was delighted with the timing (apparently I know the forecast before it happens). His morning commute includes a few blocks on foot, so decent coverage matters. He says this is easy to take along folded and has been keeping him dry. I'm glad it isn't an enormous thing to carry around just to get a useful canopy. I may get another for him to leave at the office. Happy to recommend it.

Opening it is quick and putting it away is straightforward.
Living in Arizona, I don't reach for an umbrella very often, but I wanted one to take on trips to New York City and elsewhere. Its recent outing was bird watching in Brazil's rain forest, where it proved very useful. Opening it is quick and putting it away is straightforward. It felt steady when the wind picked up and kept the rain off me nicely. I could carry it in my bag between uses without much bother. A very good travel companion, and better quality than umbrellas I've used for quite a while.

Really pleased with them for an occasion like this.
For what these cost, I wasn't expecting anything especially substantial. They actually look quite smart and feel better in the hand than I had pictured. We're planning to have them available for guests at our wedding if the weather turns wet. There's comfortable room for one person, or two standing close for a moment, rather than a huge canopy. I don't need them to last forever to feel I've had good value, although they look perfectly capable of being used afterwards. Really pleased with them for an occasion like this.
Dale Smith
Anyway this one has made me happy, a full 5 STARS from me!
Morning commute after morning commute and this umbrella is still going strong. It's much more substantial than the flimsy ones I've had before. I can't tell you how many years it will last, but whenever it needs replacing I'd choose the same again. Why does finding a decent everyday umbrella have to be so difficult?Anyway this one has made me happy, a full 5 STARS from me!

This one seems worth paying for.
Honestly, saving a few dollars on an umbrella isn't much of a saving if you don't enjoy using it.This one seems worth paying for. The closed loop handle is a big plus for me; I like having a secure grip rather than something awkward to carry. Umbrellas cost enough that I want to be satisfied with what I buy.I'm planning to get another to keep at the office, so there's one there when I need it.
Frederick Reyes
Easily the best umbrella I've had, with a very solid feel.
I can confirm the listed features match what I'm using. Easily the best umbrella I've had, with a very solid feel.
Weight is about 390 grams, folded length roughly 40cm.
The canopy responds to the button and the telescoping shaft is reset manually. Simple operation, no complicated routine to learn. Excellent in use.
Mariah Floyd
Now I'll be using it for rain as well.
OK, I needed some shade for an outdoor graduation, not another umbrella to sit in a cupboard. I wasn't expecting to like it this much! The gray looks so smart with the dark underside, much nicer in person than I had imagined. Sitting under it was definitely more comfortable than being in the sun. Now I'll be using it for rain as well. Soooo glad I went for it!!
Veronica Salas
Seems normal once you see how it works.
Well, it has arrived and of course there hasn't been any rain, so these are just my early thoughts. What a beauty!!! looks grown up and simple, not fussy at all !Has a really substantial feel and the button opening is wonderful, my husband has never bothered with an umbrella and now he's asking about one for himself. The button brings the canopy closed too, but you still need both hands to push the pole back down, I hadn't realised that part before trying it. Seems normal once you see how it works.I am ridiculously excited to take it out!!! currently sitting in my car waiting for some proper grey clouds :)showed my sixteen year old daughter and even she thought it looked nice, which is praise indeed from her, she was surprised by the amount of cover when it opened. For something that folds down it really is a good size. Very happy so far and I think another one for my husband will be next.

I was after a nice big blue one and this suits me.
Well, I've had this umbrella a little over a year and brought it out again two nights ago! Still love it. I was after a nice big blue one and this suits me. Two of us can share it, yet it folds down neatly for keeping in the car, at work or at home. Really pleased... feels like money well spent.
Mike Ramos
Nice to find something that looks good & is practical as well....
I used to have an umbrella I really liked, & accidently left it in a shopping cart. Went back a few minutes afterwards & of course it had vanished. After looking around online I found this blue one, & it's turned out to be a lovely replacement! I've had people ask where I got it, & the colour even gets admiring looks from children. Using it is easy w/the button opening & closing the canopy...a quick push on the stem packs it down. Nice to find something that looks good & is practical as well....many thanks!
Kevin Young
Opens to a useful size too.
Living in the Pacific Northwest means an umbrella gets a fair workout here... I've had plenty over the years and this one feels especially well put together for something that folds. Opens to a useful size too. It comes along when I hike, a quick bit of shelter when the rain starts - not replacing a tent with it, but it's a lot handier than carrying a big stick umbrella everywhere.
Traci Conrad
She came back quite pleased with herself.
I have two granddaughters and they couldn't be much more different, one likes showy things and the other likes things plain. The younger needed an umbrella for school and picked this one herself. When we had rain at the weekend she was straight outside wanting to try it out before anyone could go with her. She came back quite pleased with herself. Its for school really not a toy, but she likes it and thats what matters.
Marco Meyer
Replaced my old folding umbrella with this one.
Replaced my old folding umbrella with this one. The material feels good and everything is neatly finished. The button action is smooth too. It covers me and my crossbody bag nicely (I'm medium build... someone larger might want extra room). For me it's exactly the sort of umbrella I can keep in my bag until the weather changes.
Vincent Jackson
it doesn't shorten the whole umbrella.
A useful folding umbrella for a shoulder bag or a roomy handbag. I took it along to Normandy and England and used it on several occasions when the rain came on unexpectedly. The button was very convenient, but it took me a moment to understand the closing sequence. Pressing it a second time gathers the canopy; it doesn't shorten the whole umbrella. You then compress the telescoping stem toward the handle until it clicks into place. That prepares it for the next automatic opening. Once I understood that step it was straightforward, rather than anything wrong with the umbrella. I now make sure I finish shortening it before putting it away, instead of expecting another button press to do that part. It fits my larger bag nicely and gives enough cover that I haven't felt I was carrying a tiny travel umbrella when it's open. I bought two in blue, with the intention of having them available throughout the year. At the price, I'd be happy to replace one eventually when it wears out.
Brandi Rangel
I do like the way this looks, different without being too showy.
I do like the way this looks, different without being too showy. Pressing the button closes the canopy, then the shaft needs pushing in by hand, so it isn't all done for you. That extra step is my only real reservation. Over all I would still give it four stars, it does the job and I enjoy carrying something a little out of the ordinary
Jackson Moon
Overall a very good buy.
This has been one of the better folding umbrellas I've owned. Used around Toronto on wet, breezy days and never felt I needed to baby it. It feels reassuringly solid for something that packs down, and the price is sensible enough that I'm not constantly fretting about leaving it somewhere. A few observations-1. Water shakes off easily and the fabric has dried quite quickly after use.2. Best for one person. Two can squeeze underneath if they stay close, but I wouldn't try to cover more.3. The loop handle feels chunky and a bit weighty, and with my larger hands it isn't always the most comfortable grip. That's a small niggle though, not something I'd take a star off for. Overall a very good buy.

These feel like a good purchase to me.
We ordered two of these and I was not sure what to expect after looking through the reviews. We are in Washington so an umbrella gets used here, it doesn't just stay in a bag. Ours have already been out in rain and some wind and so far I have nothing to complain about. The Cream White looks nicer when you actually see it, I thought the pictures made it look a little plain. I wouldn't say these are miles ahead of every other umbrella we have owned. They seem at least as good though, and possibly a bit sturdier. I have spent enough on umbrellas over the years to know that spending more doesn't always mean you are getting something that will last longer. These feel like a good purchase to me. We have one for each child and they will be using them regularly, so that will tell us more than just looking them over at home. At this point they have been used about ten times. Nothing looks worn and the button still works the same as when we first tried them. With a three year old and a four year old using them I think that is a decent start. I'll come back and add to this once we've had them longer, because that is what I always want to know when I read reviews.
Update two years later. Both umbrellas are still here and still the ones the girls want to take. They are five and six now and take them along to school daily in case there is rain. We still live where it rains all the time so these have certainly not been sitting unused. They get nice comments too, which surprised me a little with such a simple colour. My kids are not very gentle with their things, so I am glad I didn't let the less positive reviews put me off. The older one has taken hers along for two school years now.

I wanted an umbrella for my daily lunchtime walks.
I wanted an umbrella for my daily lunchtime walks. When summer comes I find the sun too much, even with a hat on, so I thought I would try carrying some shade instead. The picture's looked lovely and the cream white is just as pretty in person. It feels nice to walk beneath it rather than trying to find the shady side of the street all the time. I still get my walk and feel quite elegant with it too. Such a simple thing but it has made those walks much nicer.
James Melton
I'd certainly recommend it.
My last umbrella disappeared, as usual (surely I'm not the only one!). After looking around online I found this one and it suits me perfectly. I like the loop handle and how neatly it folds. Might put my name on it before it wanders off too! I'd certainly recommend it.
Elizabeth Arellano
Good value and put together nicely
Good value and put together nicely; I'd only hesitate if I needed something for really extreme winds. Folded down it sits neatly in my bag without taking all the space, which was the point of buying a compact umbrella. The button is simple to use and getting it ready takes no fuss at all.
Ryan Swanson
I got this because the loop handle looked convenient.
I got this because the loop handle looked convenient. The similar umbrella I had been using was discolouring and didn't open and close easily. This comes with a sleeve, and I'm very pleased with the calm cream white colour and how smoothly the canopy opens and closes. There is a noticeable material smell, so anyone sensitive to that should keep it in mind.
Kristopher Burns
The automatic opening works fine.
I went for the Gray umbrella, although I do think brighter colours have their uses on a miserable day. Crossing a wet parking lot is one place where I want drivers to notice me, so gray wouldn't be my first choice for visibility. I liked it enough otherwise to choose it anyway. The fabric feels substantial, and the ribs seem sturdy without being completely rigid. The automatic opening works fine. It costs more than a basic umbrella, but I think it's worth the extra. I tend to consider whether an umbrella will actually get carried as well as how nice it looks. There isn't much point having a good one if it is always left at home because it's inconvenient to take along! This folds to a manageable size, and the sleeve is useful when putting it away dry. I also picked this style because of the oval loop handle. I find a loop convenient to carry and useful for hanging the umbrella out of the way in my cubicle after it has dried. Not something everyone will care about, but I would rather hang mine up than have it leaning against things. The Gray isn't particularly cheerful on a rainy morning, but it looks just as nice as I hoped from the picture. For an everyday umbrella, this has been a good choice for me. I would recommend it!
Teresa Morrow
It keeps the rain off, which is what I wanted.
It keeps the rain off, which is what I wanted. Gray suited me and the price was reasonable, so I didn't see any point in paying more for something fancier. The button works well and the folded size is useful. It does feel heavier than I had in mind for a compact umbrella, so that's worth considering if weight matters to you. For my everyday use it is fine and feels like fair value, just not quite as light as I had expected
Brandon Flores
It's my second one of these
It's my second one of these; the size when open is useful and it looks quite elegant. The button takes a deliberate press, which I notice more with long nails. Once pressed it opens properly, and the canopy closes just as it should. Four stars mainly because I'd prefer a lighter button, rather than because of how the umbrella performs in the rain.
Jasmin Caldwell
Based on my use in everyday rain, I'd happily buy the same kind again.
It has been a dependable umbrella for me, and doesn't take a lot of room when packed away. The button is the bit I appreciate most. A press opens it and another folds the canopy, then I push the pole down to put it away.I've used this kind of umbrella for years, so the straightforward design suits me. It feels substantial without being awkward to bring along. Based on my use in everyday rain, I'd happily buy the same kind again. Very satisfied with it.

I needed an umbrella for golf and wanted one in my team's colour,…
I needed an umbrella for golf and wanted one in my team's colour, so pink was an easy choice. It seems very nicely put together and I love having a button to open it. The timing worked out well, as I had a tournament in the rain the weekend it arrived. It kept me dry between shots and wasn't awkward to carry along with my clubs. A useful little purchase that I'm happy to recommend, and I wouldn't hesitate to get another.

Tired of the pile of battered umbrellas by our porch.
Tired of the pile of battered umbrellas by our porch. The really tiny ones haven't lasted well for us, so I wanted a sturdier feel. This looks nice and gives me enough coverage, without being an enormous umbrella. So far it's working well. Reasonable price and I'm hoping we finally have a keeper.
Lawrence Harding
Was here the following day.
Was here the following day. Packs down pretty small and sits in my backpack without trouble, and opening/closing it is easy. Can't say how long it'll last yet (only just got it)but it feels promising. I'd rather spend a bit more on one than keep replacing the cheap ones.
Glenda Shields
Nice packaging too.
Light enough for me, looks smart, opens to a useful size and keeps the water off. What else do I need? I've used it enough now to feel confident about the quality, and nothing has given me trouble. Very satisfied. I'd replace it with the same one if lost. Nice packaging too.
Willie Hopkins
Astonishing stuff.
Apparently an umbrella is a terribly complicated thing for the women-folk. My three sisters have admired mine, but one must consider all those lady difficulties. The eldest has wrists tired from knitting, so carrying anything substantial is quite the undertaking. The middle one would hate to look too practical while standing in the rain. And the youngest...well, thank goodness there is a button, rather than an entrance examination in umbrella operation. This one is manageable to carry, the loop gives you somewhere to hold it, and the canopy keeps the rain overhead where it belongs. Astonishing stuff. I had thought we could all just use an ordinary umbrella, but here we are. Anyway, pleased with mine, and pleased that remaining dry apparently requires no special qualifications.

Worth a look if you're also getting lost in all the reviews.
Update after looking back at this: Nothing bad to report, it's still holding up well. I checked when I bought it and it's been over a year now. Leaving my first impressions below:----Writing reviews isn't generally my thing, especially when something is fine and I just carry on using it. But I spent ages reading about umbrellas before choosing this, so here goes. I'd read the low ratings first and talk myself out of every choice, never mind how many people seemed happy. Considered spending quite a bit more, only I couldn't see that paying extra would necessarily get me anything better. Ended up choosing this one almost reluctantly, which seems silly now. About a month of use in wet, windy weather and I haven't regretted it. You still have to pay attention to which way the wind is coming, it's not going to do that for you. A few gusts caught me off guard and it coped, rather than immediately flipping inside out. The open canopy gives decent coverage and it doesn't feel flimsy. For what I paid I'm happy, and I'd choose it again rather than spend several times more just hoping for better. Worth a look if you're also getting lost in all the reviews. Only thing, I sometimes wish it packed down a little smaller.
Craig May
Very happy with what I got for the price.
Exactly the sort of everyday umbrella I wanted, without spending a fortune. It feels better made than I'd expected for the money, and the gray looks quite nice. Folded up it's manageable, then it opens out big enough to shelter me with my bag tucked alongside. I hold it a little higher so I can still see ahead on a busy pavement. The opening button is handy when I'm already carrying things, and having it fold down afterwards is much more convenient than carting a long umbrella around. Very happy with what I got for the price.
Barbara Grimes
Open, it gives perfectly adequate cover for an everyday umbrella
I've seen people complain that their trousers still get wet under a compact umbrella. What sort of umbrella would stop rain being blown sideways at your legs? You would need something that reached nearly to the ground. That isn't what I expect this to do. After about two years of use, it has done its job very well. My trousers have occasionally been damp, but my suits haven't suffered for it. Angle the canopy towards the rain instead of holding it straight up regardless of where the water is coming from. That makes a difference. Open, it gives perfectly adequate cover for an everyday umbrella; closed, it doesn't leave you carrying some enormous thing around for the rest of the day. I can put it away in my bag and get on with things. That's the compromise I wanted.
Alicia Graves
Surprisingly good workmanship for the money.
Surprisingly good workmanship for the money. The cream white top against the black underside looks very nice. Using it is straightforward—press the button to open, press again to collapse the canopy, then manually compress the telescoping pole. It feels solid in the hand without being awkward to operate. Very satisfied with the quality at this price.

Lost my old one and finally found another like it!!!
Lost my old one and finally found another like it!!! Folded up, it makes a neat little bundle that will go into a big coat pocket. A press on the handle sends it open, and it has felt steady in the breezes I've used it in. Press again and the canopy gathers in. You still need to shorten the shaft with a push by hand, then tidy the fabric before slipping on the sleeve. I like having a cover for it rather than leaving the folded umbrella loose. Glad to have one again.
Karen Franklin
After a few outings she said the coverage made it worth carrying.
My granddaughter wanted this because it brought to mind an umbrella she'd seen on television. She had it ready for our first rainy day of the year. A little bulkier folded than she'd pictured, although she knew it wasn't a tiny pocket umbrella. After a few outings she said the coverage made it worth carrying.
Henry Mendez
For what it costs, this feels nicely put together.
For what it costs, this feels nicely put together. My issue with most compact umbrellas (and I know I'm not alone) is how flimsy and skimpy they can be. This one gives me enough coverage and has been usable in a light or moderate breeze. There's space for a backpack underneath too, which makes sense for students. The handle is comfortable to hold, though I do wonder how it will wear with time. No trouble with it so far, just a thought.
Gabriela Downs
Probably the best everyday umbrella I've bought.
Probably the best everyday umbrella I've bought. The price seemed fair for how well it is put together. The oval loop handle sits comfortably in my hand, although I could do with a little more room to grip it.The canopy gives me proper coverage rather than just keeping the top of my head dry.Water beads off the fabric nicely and there isn't much left on it after a shake. It dries quicker than my old one did.The ribs have some give without making the whole thing feel flimsy. The button opening is quick and definite, which I appreciate when I am already standing in the rain.Pressing it again brings the canopy down, then you push the shaft back yourself. That part is straightforward once you know what to do.My only niggle is packing it neatly enough for the sleeve. You really have to smooth the folds or it is a squeeze.I don't expect that will bother me much, as I usually leave the sleeve at home anyway.None of that takes away from how well the umbrella actually works.A very worthwhile purchase and one I would happily recommend.

I like not having a great long umbrella to carry once the rain stops.
There are two of these in our house now, for my boys aged 8 and 6. Most days we walk about three quarters of a mile to school, so I wanted umbrellas that were easy to spot and kept the rain off. They both like the pink, and the button has been a hit too. I like not having a great long umbrella to carry once the rain stops. The colour isn't a substitute for watching the traffic, of course, but it is cheerful. My reason for stopping at four stars is that the younger one needs help packing his away. The canopy shuts with the button, but the shaft needs pushing back down by hand and he finds that a bit much. We leave them open to get properly DRY before putting them away.
Joshua Ochoa
The sleeve is handy for putting it away.
The folded shape is the main reason I chose this for my backpack. I still prefer my bigger umbrella when I'm heading straight out into rain, but this is a more practical thing to keep with me. The sleeve is handy for putting it away. The frame has more flex than I expected and def doesn't have that hefty feel of a long umbrella. That's the compromise I suppose. I don't need an umbrella on me every minute anyway. Giving it four stars because for a folding one it's pretty good, just not quite my favourite overall.
Tanner Branch
A handsome umbrella and a present I was happy to give.
Exactly the sort of smart looking umbrella I wanted for a Christmas present. It looks like the photos and has a nice, simple finish. The person I gave it to was pleased, which was the main thing for me. I'm stopping at four stars because packing it away needs more pressure than I expected. A press closes the canopy, but you still have to shorten the telescoping shaft manually and that part is quite firm. It does go down, just not effortlessly. Apart from that I have no complaints about it. A handsome umbrella and a present I was happy to give.
Stephen Mitchell
Packaging was tidy and it turned up in excellent shape.
Packaging was tidy and it turned up in excellent shape. Got it for my husband to leave in his sports car, since we like having an umbrella in each car. More than I'd usually spend on one, but it looks smart and feels nicely made. Just what the pictures led me to expect. I'd recommend it.
Kevin Shelton
A couple of smaller details are worth noting.
Having used a couple of umbrellas that were supposed to be easier to manage in wind, I was interested to see how this one compared. My first was heavy, and keeping hold of it when the wind caught underneath was more work than I wanted. Occasionally it turned inside out, although it went back into shape afterwards. The next one was also awkward to put away. This is my first Haven, and it feels considerably less cumbersome than either of those.
Out in the rain, I find it easier to keep a comfortable grip and hold the canopy where I want it. It has stayed in shape in the breezy conditions I've used it in. My reason for stopping at four stars is the space underneath. There is quite a lot going on with the ribs inside, and I can't bring it as close over my head and shoulders as I'd prefer. I wasn't expecting a huge umbrella, but I do notice the difference in coverage. A larger one would still be my choice for a sustained downpour.
Putting it away is another point worth mentioning. It isn't an entirely one-handed process, although the button makes the first part straightforward. A press draws the canopy closed, then I shorten the telescoping section myself. I use both hands for that. Compared with the effort involved in closing my older umbrellas, this is quite manageable. I don't have to brace it against the floor to finish the job.
Overall, the compromise seems reasonable if you want something compact rather than maximum shelter. It fits into my tote without taking it over, though it isn't the lightest thing in there. On a day with only a chance of showers, I'd rather bring this along than carry a much larger umbrella. When the rain looks settled in, I'd still want more cover.
A couple of smaller details are worth noting. The closed oval loop is comfortable to carry it by when it isn't raining. It is a different arrangement from a curved hook, but I've found it useful. The sleeve also keeps the folded umbrella together neatly in my bag once it is dry.
As for drying, I close the wet canopy with the button before bringing it inside, then open it again somewhere it can air out. It does still need space by the door; I wouldn't put it straight into the sleeve wet. I'm pleased with how manageable it is, and expect this to be the umbrella I keep handy, even though the coverage isn't quite ideal for me.
Lacey Browning
You still have to shorten the pole yourself.
When my old umbrella needed replacing, I picked this for its appearance and the positive reviews. After more than a month of carrying it, I'm pleased with the coverage, the sturdiness, and especially how manageable it is to carry. It isn't the tiny sort you forget is in your bag, but it is lighter to hold than the larger umbrellas I have used. Smaller folding ones have often felt flimsy to me, and we get enough wind here that I don't want something I have to baby every time it rains. This one has already been out on breezy days and has behaved well. The automatic opening is a convenience I appreciate, too. About the only thing I'd change is how much of the closing is left to do by hand after the canopy folds. You still have to shorten the pole yourself. That hasn't cost it a star from me, since I like the overall size and ease of carrying it.
Philip Wilkins
I'm so pleased with it, a lovely way to say thanks!
My sister hosted my baby shower, so this was a thank you for her. Umbrellas bring back memories of films we loved growing up, and I can imagine my daughter thinking her aunt looks magical carrying one. The loop handle feels substantial and the umbrella itself seems well made. I'm so pleased with it, a lovely way to say thanks!
Cesar Richardson
Hopefully a good choice for others also.
The weight, handle and general use of the umbrella all seem good to me. I looked over the end and the folded fabric when I took it out of the package, and everything was sitting neatly. The overall look is as I wanted. Pushing the shaft back takes a firm press after the canopy closes, which I had to learn, but it is working normally. The making seems careful and I am happy to keep it. Hopefully a good choice for others also.
Matthew Wells
I started thinking an umbrella for shade might be worth trying.
I was fed up with feeling baked by the sun just walking from the car into the gym or a shop. I don't enjoy slathering stuff on either, and some sun creams have brought me out in hives.I started thinking an umbrella for shade might be worth trying. My hesitation was really about looking odd carrying one when it wasn't raining - silly perhaps, but there it is... This one appealed because it wasnt frilly and would fold away rather than being another long thing to carry. I did wonder if people would comment, but nobody has so far...probably they can see perfectly well why I'm using it. It makes those short walks more comfortable for me.Would suggest it to anyone who has had the same thought, rather than worrying what everybody else might think

A lovely umbrella to take out with children.
A lovely umbrella to take out with children. It opens smoothly with the button, and the canopy folds in just as neatly. Quite roomy when it's up. My 2.5 year old is very taken with it, although I handle the opening and carrying for her. I can see us using it for a long time. Very sweet.
