Spending a bit more on this was worth it.

I've had two of these during the five years I've been living in NYC. Rain here often comes with wind, which is why I stopped picking up the cheapest tiny umbrellas I could find. They never felt like much use. Spending a bit more on this was worth it. It isn't the smallest thing once folded, so don't expect it to disappear into a pocket, but I much prefer having something that feels solid overhead. The frame has felt reassuring in the gusty rain I've used it in.I'm not especially careful with umbrellas (they get dropped, tossed into bags and generally treated as everyday stuff), and these have put up with that well. The one I use now still opens neatly and gives me good cover. Having used two over that stretch, I feel I've had decent value rather than something I need to fuss over every time it rains.

Opens out to a useful size without being a ridiculous thing to carry.

My husband and I walk the course when we golf and this has been great for some shade. Opens out to a useful size without being a ridiculous thing to carry. I stay much more comfortable underneath it, and a couple of other golfers have already asked where to find one!

Jonathan Rollins

I use it in rain already and it held up well.

It matches the description and feels very good quality for what I paid. There are lots of compact umbrellas about, but I'm glad I chose this one. Stronger feeling than I expected and not too heavy to carry either. I use it in rain already and it held up well. Would certainly recommend to anyone needing one :)

I was glad to find something that looks like it will last, as I prefer not to keep replacing things. It is a little heavy if you want a very light umbrella to carry about. Otherwise, good construction and nicely finished, and quite a few people have commented on it.

This pink umbrella is even prettier in person!

This pink umbrella is even prettier in person! The photo really doesn't show how nice the colour is. It opens smoothly and seems well put together. I'm rather clumsy with rain things and normally manage to batter them about, but this has coped with my everyday use. There is some give in the ribs, which is reassuring outside. Practical, but still something I enjoy looking at.

Rain when we need cover, shade when the sun is too much....

Four years of heavy use and I still get a lot out of this umbrella. It makes a lovely bit of shade that you can move wherever it's needed. When the kids want to sit outside with a book or do some coloring, I can hold it over them instead of everyone having to go indoors. It is quite dark beneath the canopy! It has been dropped, left wet and generally not treated very carefully, but it still looks good. I like that something I can fold up is this useful when we're outside. Rain when we need cover, shade when the sun is too much....it gets used for both. One of those ordinary purchases that has turned out to be worth far more to me than I expected.

Quite a solid, solid piece of kit.

Quite a solid, solid piece of kit. We only get occasional rainy days here in Santa Monica, sometimes with a breeze, and that's what I wanted it for. Just looking at the frame and handling it, it seems better put together than any umbrella I've had. I don't intend to carry it for shade, although I can't see why it wouldn't be useful for that as well.

Works smoothly and feels sturdy in use.

The cream white looked a little different from what I'd pictured, but I kept it. Works smoothly and feels sturdy in use. Not the tiniest umbrella folded, though it still goes into my bag quite neatly. The loop handle is a nice detail too, easy to keep hold of when I'm carrying other things.

Got this for my husband and it has gone down well.

Got this for my husband and it has gone down well. Its enough for us both when we stand close together, which comes in handy. We're just average size people, not especially little. The frame seems strong and we havent had any trouble. A little over two months of use now.

Antonio Larsen

For me it's the one to keep around whenever rain is likely.

I'm on number two and I honestly wouldn't bother looking for a different umbrella. I've had it out in gusty, wet weather plenty of times and it's kept me dry without a fuss! You can feel that there's a proper frame under the fabric, not just something flimsy to hold over your head. For me it's the one to keep around whenever rain is likely. Just make sure you bring it back from the bar or cinema, because a good umbrella is only useful if you haven't left it behind ;)

Even so, the build feels good and I'm happy with the quality.

I'll admit I've barely used it, since it only arrived a week ago. Even so, the build feels good and I'm happy with the quality. The button gets it open easily, and there's a nice curve to the canopy, with room to stand underneath the center and feel well covered.

Chad Browning

I'm very satisfied with the way this umbrella is built.

I'm very satisfied with the way this umbrella is built. It feels firm and nicely balanced in the hand, sheds rain well and has been steady when the wind picks up. The beige canopy also makes a pleasant patch of shade when the sun comes out. For what I paid, getting this much coverage in something that folds down is excellent. I can't really ask for more.

I am absurdly attached to an umbrella now, no regrets!!!

I have found happiness and apparently it folds up small enough to carry! One press and my umbrella bursts open like its been waiting all day to see me, honestly what more could I ask for! Closing it feels almost rude. Indoors it stays beside me, bad luck can mind its own business. Who needs conversation when you have this level of companionship, even watching a rainy film feels like quality time together. I am absurdly attached to an umbrella now, no regrets!!!1!!1

Sandy Fox

My one gripe - the button DOES need a definite press.

My one gripe - the button DOES need a definite press. To finish closing you have to compress the telescoping stem by hand, which takes some effort. But it looks lovely and the open size is generous for me. It goes in my bigger purse too - so quite practical once you get used to it.

Connie Garza

A good choice for us.

We wanted umbrellas for the greeters at our church, so they could walk people in from the rain. These have been useful for that short walk, with two adults keeping close together underneath. They are easy to put away afterwards, and each one has its own sleeve. A good choice for us.

Finally a folding umbrella worth carrying!

Finally a folding umbrella worth carrying!Living in NYC means a bright morning doesn't tell you much about the walk home. I walk everywhere. Bad weather included. So an umbrella often ends up in my bag before I head out. The tiny ones I've had were convenient until it actually rained, and the cheap street ones never inspired much confidence. I wanted something that could fold away without giving me a postage stamp of cover. This does that. It isn't the shortest folded umbrella around, but it goes into my daypack and gives me decent space underneath once it's up. The frame has a reassuring feel rather than that disposable feel. I like the blue too; it's easier for me to notice when I'm gathering up my things. For the money, it's a purchase I feel good about.

An attractive umbrella with very nice fabric.

An attractive umbrella with very nice fabric. In rain and a little wind it has performed well, as I expected. The oval handle is not my favourite part, it looks rather bulky compared to the rest of it. It works fine, just doesn't give quite the elegant impression I wanted, although the canopy itself looks extremely good. So for me it is an everyday umbrella, not so much something to admire. I would have preferred a simpler looking handle, would suit the overall appearance better I think. Thus four stars.

Yolanda Riggs

I let it dry before slipping it in, rather than storing it damp.

Room for me without crowding, or two people if they're happy to stand close. I like the automatic opening and canopy closing, and hope the mechanism keeps working this nicely over time. The button feels more substantial than on my previous umbrella, which is encouraging. Folds to a sensible size for putting away and comes with a sleeve. I let it dry before slipping it in, rather than storing it damp.

Kari Castro

Good quality.

Recommended. This was my first time buying an umbrella online and everything was straightforward. I'm happy with the choice. The green is a pleasant colour and the plain design looks better in person than I had pictured. The handle is quite different from the usual umbrella handle, but actually I think the closed oval shape suits the rest very well. There is nothing especially decorative about the finish, though that doesn't spoil the overall look.Otherwise it is much as described, with a substantial frame and plenty of ribs supporting the fabric. Good quality. Not difficult to carry about. However, I should mention that when carrying it folded I notice the weight more at the handle end; clipping it to my bag is more convenient than keeping it in my hand all the time. The sleeve helps keep the folded fabric together, although I do need to wrap it neatly before putting it back in. I would also mention the coverage is for personal use rather than a whole family. It is comfortable for me on my own and that is what I needed. It arrived intact with everything neatly packed, so overall I am pleased with it.

Sheryl Ware

Feels solid unless the wind gets really strong.

This comes pretty close to ideal for me. Compact, good-looking, opens AND shuts its canopy with one button, and doesn't stay wet long. Feels solid unless the wind gets really strong. Which isn't much help on a stormy day. I'd still buy it again, mainly because it's portable and 'manly enough' for me to actually bother taking it along... which is more than I can say for most umbrellas.

Jeanne Silva

A folding umbrella that suits me nicely.

A folding umbrella that suits me nicely. Quick to open with the button & just as simple to collapse the canopy; that doesn't mean the whole pole retracts itself, you push that down to the handle afterwards.I like the way it looks too ... makes me smile to have something cheerful along when the weather is otherwise rather miserable.

Franklin Murphy

It has been a good purchase for me.

I've been carrying this umbrella for eight months and it has handled the rain and wind pretty well. The weather here can be hard on umbrellas, so I don't expect one to look new forever. I'm satisfied with how solid this one still feels and that it continues to open smoothly. It has been a good purchase for me.

Jodi Kline

So happy I ordered this.

So happy I ordered this. It feels good in my hand and isn't tiring for me to carry. The oval handle gives me a secure grip without having to squeeze it. Plenty of canopy over me when its raining, which is the important part anyway. It has kept me dry and looks smart as well. An easy recommendation!!! I'd happily get another!

Garrett Jacobson

Never expected to get this attached to an umbrella!

I've had mine for quite a while and I'm honestly surprised how good it still looks. Never expected to get this attached to an umbrella! It doesn't get daily use, maybe a rainy outing once a month if that, so I'm not pretending it's been through everything. The frame still looks good and the tips are all where they should be. A few marks on the handle are about the only sign it's been around, nothing that bothers me. Still a fan :D There's a good amount of cover for me on walks with my preschool kids. They like listening to the rain pattering on it (apparently that's entertainment enough). Folds away without being a whole extra thing to lug around. I'd certainly choose this one again :) very pleased!

i chose this for wedding photos because cream white goes with our theme. I had one shot in mind looking up from underneath and hadn't realised that side would be black. Its still lovely and i'm happy to use it, just not quite the view i pictured. A photo showing the inside as well as the outside would have helped me decide.

Dominic Meadows

That's normal, just not very easy for my kids to manage themselves.

The umbrella works well once it's up, but putting it away is more fiddly than I wanted. Pressing the button closes the canopy, then the shaft needs pushing back in by hand. That's normal, just not very easy for my kids to manage themselves. I end up doing that part and packing it away for them.

Nancy Dennis

I would happily recommend it for travelling.

I chose this because I wanted a sturdy umbrella without taking a full length golf one in my suitcase. There just isn't space for that when I'm travelling. Between recruiting trips and golf tournaments I'm away quite a bit, and like to have something ready for rain. This folds down neatly and has coped well with the wind I've encountered.I would happily recommend it for travelling.

Billy Marks

Turns out it gives me good cover and the beige looks nice.

I didn't pay much for this, and i went in with fairly low expectations. Turns out it gives me good cover and the beige looks nice. There is enough room for me and my bag, and the canopy feels like decent material. I hadn't really shopped for an umbrella before, so i was unsure what I should be looking for at that price. I'm pleased with how it has worked out.Would've said four and a half stars initially because the folded bundle feels a little bulky, but that hasn't been an issue in use. It's dealt with light winds just fine so far. Hopefully it'll be with me for a good while.

Kristina Alvarez

Happy with it...

Well, this has been mine for over a year and it was out again two nights ago! Still delighted with it. I wanted a beige umbrella with a decent amount of cover, and that's what I ended up with. Two of us can tuck underneath in a pinch, then it folds away neatly to keep in the car. Happy with it... money well spent.

Jacob Johnson

There are 30 ribs and the frame looks substantial, which I like.

There are 30 ribs and the frame looks substantial, which I like. Opening is immediate, and another press gathers the fabric in just as quickly. The part I mark down is pushing the telescoping section back into its short position. That needs a firmer shove than I would prefer.

Ruben May

I'm delighted with this umbrella!

I'm delighted with this umbrella! It feels properly made and I've already had reason to use it several times. The opening action is smooth, and the canopy closes just as neatly with the button. Packs away quite small too. I'd happily recommend it for everyday use.

Krista Mays

otherwise a nice umbrella.

Would like a bit more coverage for rain blowing sideways... otherwise a nice umbrella. Used it happily...until I left it behind somewhere, as usual. TYPICAL! Someone else has it now I suppose. It saw a couple of light showers and two bouts of REALLY HEAVY rain between my office and the parking lot. I stayed mostly dry! Liked the beige too - not fussy, just nice...and my husband was quite willing to carry it as well. Shame I couldn't manage to keep hold of it!

Audrey Jenkins

Nice coverage for a folding one, everybody was pleased.

Bought twelve for a family party, then the forecast looked wet so we added twelve more.Glad we did!!Easy to pop open with the button and the blue made ours simple to spot amongst everyone else's umbrellas. Nice coverage for a folding one, everybody was pleased. Well worth buying!

Never thought I'd get attached to an umbrella, but here we are.

Never thought I'd get attached to an umbrella, but here we are. I haven't put this through the sort of windy weather that finished off several of my previous ones, so I'm not claiming miracles. It does feel substantially better put together though. I thought the oval loop handle might be a bit of a novelty, but it actually sits comfortably in my hand. Being able to fold it down also makes carrying it between showers much less of a nuisance. Rather fond of it already.

Selena Fitzpatrick

I'd certainly recommend this umbrella!

Both attractive and useful, which is what I wanted. It gives me good cover in the rain and opening it is straightforward. The construction feels substantial enough for regular use. I've been comfortable using it on breezy days as well. I'd certainly recommend this umbrella!

Jenna Wilkins

The look is what sold me on it, and other people have noticed it too. Folding it up neatly is a bit fiddly for me, so I don't try to rush that part. The canopy comes down with a press, then you need to push the shaft back in yourself. Not a fault, just worth knowing before you expect it all to disappear into the handle. It's been fine in rain and a bit of wind, and I can see where I'm walking without the edge getting in my face.

Gilbert Romero

Quick to put up, and the canopy folds at a press too.

Quick to put up, and the canopy folds at a press too. It fits neatly in the bag I take to work. I leave it a little open to dry before packing it away, which saves putting a damp umbrella back in there. For an everyday folding umbrella at this price, it does what I need. Would replace it with the same one.

Lee Bautista

Everything stays together nicely when I put it away.

Fits neatly into the tote I carry, with my reader beside it and space for other bits! I appreciate that it folds down rather than taking up the whole bag. After rain I give it a shake and let it dry before slipping the cover on. Everything stays together nicely when I put it away.

Mandy Mora

I love this umbrella so much!

I love this umbrella so much! I try to stay out of direct sunlight every day and have been through quite a few umbrellas for shade. This one has become my favourite. It looks pretty and it is useful, not just something cute to carry. Having that shade overhead makes being out in the heat more comfortable. For anyone who likes carrying their own shade, I would absolutely recommend it!

Karla Travis

Very happy to have this one!

I'd wanted an umbrella for my lunchtime walks for quite a while, more for shade than anything else. I'm not much of a sun person, and walking along the water in the middle of the day can feel relentless. My usual walk is about two and a half miles, with very little shade along the way. Getting back to work hot and sweaty, with those obvious sunglasses marks on my face, was getting old. Having shade that goes along with me has made those walks much more pleasant. It feels sturdy in use and has been fine with the breezes I get along that route. There is a good amount of canopy once it's open. Folded up it is convenient, though not so tiny that I forget I'm carrying it. On days when the sun doesn't look very strong I still have that little debate about whether to take it, and I can see why someone might also want a really small option. For my regular walk, though, I appreciate the coverage more than saving a little space. I've now used it in proper rain as well, and it kept me well covered. Shade was the reason I wanted it, so having it be just as useful when it pours is a big plus. Very happy to have this one!

Sara Cross

The handle is the part I most like.

The whole is good. The handle is the part I most like. With the oval closed shape I can hold it or put it over the end of a peg, both are fine. For a folding umbrella with a button, the size and general quality are good. Pressing works for opening and for folding the cloth, then the middle pole (umbrella pole) must be pushed short with the hand. That last push is a little harder than I thought it would be. Still it is comfortable once open, and of the several folding umbrellas I have this is the one I reach for most.

Briana Silva

My son is so pleased with his umbrella.

My son is so pleased with his umbrella. There's plenty of room under it without being awkward for him to carry. He figured out the button straight away and puts it away himself after use. I like having the sleeve to keep it tidy once it's dry. A good choice for him and something he actually wants to use. Really happy!

Yvette Whitehead

I picked this mainly for sitting in the sun, rather than for rain.

I picked this mainly for sitting in the sun, rather than for rain. We take it along when we're watching our grandson play soccer. It makes a very useful bit of shade and is lite enough that holding it through the game isn't a chore. That's the job we wanted it for and it does it very nicely.

Eric Lawson

She's eleven and quite tall, but the size suited her well.

We needed the rounded shape for my daughter's jellyfish Halloween costume, and this worked out just right. She's eleven and quite tall, but the size suited her well. Nice to have something that isn't only a costume prop -- it can still keep her dry afterwards. Better construction than I expected for the price, definitely NOT a flimsy costume-only purchase.

Kathleen Lambert

Good umbrella with a useful amount of cover.

Good umbrella with a useful amount of cover. I've been holding it for shade and it's been fine in a bit of a breeze too. My one grumble is what I paid (not usually something I worry about). Afterwards I noticed similar ones much cheaper in the supermarket. Still happy with the actual umbrella.

Joshua Carter

Very straightforward to use as well.

I remember seeing an umbrella like this in a smart shop years ago and wanting one, but couldn't bring myself to spend that much. Eight years on my husband surprised me with this green one. He got it exactly right!!! The colour is lovely and it feels properly made, not just nice to look at. Its a useful size open and fits into my bigger handbag folded, which is what I needed. Very straightforward to use as well. For what we paid I think it was a wonderful buy!

Max Lozano

For what I paid, it feels well put together.

The main reason I wanted an umbrella was for shade during some fence repairs that I'd been putting off. I went with cream white because I wanted a plain colour rather than something flashy. This isn't a big fixed sunshade, so I used it for the breaks between working on the fence, and it made being out there much more bearable. It folds down enough that carrying it along wasn't a nuisance either. Living in Florida means a summer shower is hardly unusual, and I have used it in rain as well. The canopy gave me the cover I needed without making the umbrella awkward to handle. For what I paid, it feels well put together. It's been useful for both jobs I expected of it.

Gerald Chang

I used to think umbrellas were more trouble than they were worth.

I used to think umbrellas were more trouble than they were worth. Growing up in south Florida and spending years at sea, I got pretty used to being wet and just carried on. The little folding ones never seemed worth the bother. So I was not expecting to have much to say about this one. Well, I was wrong! There is a reassuring substance to it without it being a giant umbrella to lug about. The rain came down suddenly this morning and, for once, I actually had something with me that kept me properly covered. Quite satisfying to be the dry one for a change. The loop grip sits securely in my hand, and the button gets it open quickly. When I'm done, another press gathers the canopy, then I press the telescoping part together myself. Straightforward. The sleeve is also easy enough to get back on, which sounds trivial until you've fought with one that isn't.All told, this has changed my mind about bothering with an umbrella. A practical little thing that I am happy to carry.

Samantha Stone

People have asked me about this umbrella!

People have asked me about this umbrella! Pretty enough to be a parasol (which I think of as the sunshine word, rather than rain). The blue is lovely, and the handle is much nicer to hold than I expected. I'm using it for both kinds of weather, so it certainly isn't sitting in a cupboard!Update: mine vanished from my cart at the grocery store!!!!! Back here for another, apparently someone else liked it too. Sigh. Is having it disappear a sort of recommendation?
