Tired of getting soaked?

Tired of getting soaked? I'd happily point you towards this one!It feels substantial as soon as you pick it up, and opens with a really satisfying action. A good sized canopy without having to carry a full length umbrella everywhere. The fabric, frame and handle all seem properly finished, not like something I'm expecting to throw away after a few outings. Obviously time will tell, but my first impression is excellent. My one suggestion would be to make the handle a touch less chunky. It's not enough to put me off, And it's still the one I reach for first. Absolutely terrific!

I feel quite cute carrying this umbrella.

I feel quite cute carrying this umbrella. It is handy when I'm showing houses on rainy days and need to stop outside with clients. The compact size makes it manageable between appointments. I'd like a little more room underneath, but it has been a useful thing to have.

It was nice to find a folding version that still opens out generously.

I have always preferred an umbrella with enough coverage rather than a tiny one you squeeze under. It was nice to find a folding version that still opens out generously. There hasn't been rain for me to test it yet, but the frame feels substantial. The beige is very nice, not an overpowering shade, and it looks just as pleasant open as it does folded.

Thanks, little umbrella!

I wanted an umbrella on hand in case the weather turned for my wedding. It ended up getting used straight away because the rain here barely seemed to stop. It's made those grey days a little brighter and has coped nicely with the rain and gusts I've encountered. Thanks, little umbrella!

Sherry Anthony

For the rain we have here it has been just right.

Living in LA, I never thought much about buying an umbrella because rain wasn't something I dealt with often. The weather has been changing around lately so I finally picked this up.It is a good size over one person, not something I would expect to shelter several people in a downpour. For the rain we have here it has been just right. Folded up it can go in my bag, or I carry it separately when I don't have room. The button was something I needed to understand at first. One push opens it, and another brings the canopy closed, but the telescoping part still needs pushing in by hand. That isn't the whole umbrella disappearing into the handle by itself. It is useful getting into and out of the car though, which is what I wanted. So far the fabric and frame look good to me and I have nothing to complain about.

Jasmine Mcmahon

This one has spared me that so far.

Being soaked while wrestling an inside-out umbrella is a miserable feeling. This one has spared me that so far. I know it sounds a bit much to get excited over an umbrella, but it's stayed the right shape when a gust catches me on the street. I can concentrate on where I'm walking rather than bracing for the canopy to go over. That's exactly the sort of reassurance I wanted.

Brett Zavala

Its a nice understated color, nothing loud.

I went with black. Its a nice understated color, nothing loud. It feels well made, and opening and closing it are easy. I appreciate being able to wrap the strap around without pulling at it or fussing. Haven't tried a really heavy storm, but the mildly windy rain so far hasn't turned it inside out. Would like a little more width, though for what I paid I wont knock a star off for that. This isn't one I'd describe as a two person umbrella. There's space for me with my purse, even taking long steps, without getting wet. Put somebody else under it and I think we'd both have damp shoulders.

Brandi Osborne

It handles a bit of wind nicely and I have stayed dry.

The frame and fabric seem properly made, which I would want at this price. It handles a bit of wind nicely and I have stayed dry.It packs away neatly, although don't expect a huge canopy once it's up. Plenty for me alone, less practical if you're hoping to share.

Earl Farrell

Folded length is around 40cm, so compact doesn't mean tiny.

The open size is about 105cm, which is the useful figure to me when deciding how much coverage I'll get. Folded length is around 40cm, so compact doesn't mean tiny. I would call it comfortable for one rather than something I'd buy specifically for two.The frame feels substantial and the fabric looks neatly put together. I have only just received it, so I can't say anything about long term use yet, but my first impression is a very good one.

Tasha Hood

Green on the outside is a nice change too.

Used the green umbrella in the sunshine today - the shade is good, and the size when it's open was a surprise. Folded down it looks fairly ordinary, then you press the button and there's quite a canopy!!!! Not a complaint. I would rather have coverage than save a little space overhead. The frame looks substantial too. Lots of closely spaced ribs (30, apparently), with some give to them rather than everything being rigid. I've carried very light umbrellas before - handy in a bag, less reassuring once you're actually holding them up. There wasn't much wind about, so this first outing doesn't tell me a great deal about that side of things. One detail I do appreciate is the button operation. It puts the canopy up promptly, and another press brings it down. You still compress the telescoping shaft yourself afterwards - worth understanding before you stand there waiting for the whole thing to disappear into the handle! The handle itself is an oval loop, closed all the way round, not the usual curved crook. Different, but comfortable enough to hold. (Not an exciting feature on paper - more noticeable when actually carrying it.) The fabric doesn't feel flimsy, and the black underneath makes a pleasant shaded space. Green on the outside is a nice change too. First impression - sturdy, useful coverage, though not the smallest folded umbrella I've carried. Longer use will tell more. Update, after a little over a month: It has now had outings in both sunshine and rain. Still pleased with the amount of shelter. Sometimes a folding umbrella gives you the impression that staying dry means keeping your arms pressed to your sides - this doesn't feel like that. Obviously rain coming sideways is another matter. The canopy has kept the rain above me where it belongs, and I still find it useful for shade. That was a large part of why I wanted it in the first place. And the wind? I'd give a qualified answer rather than a grand claim. I've felt gusts catch underneath it and felt the frame give a little, but haven't had it turn inside out. That is encouraging. It doesn't mean I intend to hold it against every gust and see which of us gives up first!!! There is still a fairly wide canopy catching the air, whatever the number of ribs. I adjust the angle when I feel that pull. Flexible ribs seem a sensible idea to me, but flexible isn't the same thing as something you cannot possibly damage. How would you judge that from ordinary use anyway??? My reservation remains the folded size. Compact, yes - compared with carrying a full-length umbrella. Something that vanishes into any small bag, no. The substantial feel I liked at the beginning also means it isn't the lightest thing to carry. Not dreadful, just noticeable. There is a compromise here between having something reassuring overhead and having almost nothing to carry once the rain stops. I'd rather know that beforehand than buy it expecting both extremes. So I'm keeping this at four stars. The button has been convenient, the coverage has proved useful rather than just looking impressive indoors, and the construction still gives a good impression. The manual push to reset the shaft is simply part of putting it away, not something I count as a fault. A smaller folded package would suit me better, but I wouldn't want to lose much of the canopy to get it. For my use, a sensible umbrella with a few practical compromises - and one I'm quite content to keep carrying

Got this for my grandson at Christmas.

Got this for my grandson at Christmas. He likes having his own things and was delighted with the umbrella. It's a useful size and he can work the button, though I help with putting it away. He carried it about all afternoon. He is only 4 years old so that was a big success.

Frances Chung

A really decent umbrella for the money.

A really decent umbrella for the money. The button is straightforward and it feels much stronger than the bargain ones I've had before. Opening it is quick, and the canopy tucks in neatly with another press. It's stayed the right way up in the breezes so far, which is a relief. My one small gripe is the folded length in my medium handbag. It goes in, but not without rearranging things a little. Still, I'm more than pleased with it!

Dale Donaldson

Enough to feel a little smug when the rain starts.

More cover than I expected from something that folds up. Enough to look prepared. Enough to feel a little smug when the rain starts. And SO much less awkward to carry than a big umbrella. I've had it pulled about by gusts and it still opens just fine. Nothing bent, nothing dramatic. Five stars.

Maurice Nelson

The coverage was what I was hoping for.

The coverage was what I was hoping for. My head and shoulders stay dry, and I can keep my handbag tucked under it as well. It feels much more substantial than the flimsy folding umbrellas I used before, without taking up all the room in my bag. The weight took a few outings to get used to, but I would rather have that solid feel. I do have to hold it high enough to see ahead, which soon became automatic. A few people have asked about it, and one woman thought it would be handy for watching her children play sport. It looks good with my clothes too. If a little extra weight is the worry, I say give yourself a chance to get used to it. Worth it!

Sarah Dyer

An easy gift choice!

This was for my MOM, and she has been very attached to it. I ended up buying another after she misplaced the first because she LOVES the gray. It has a soft, quiet look rather than anything bright. On a wet day it still looks nice without being a loud colour. I can't say whether that's the main reason she likes it so much, but she certainly reaches for it. An easy gift choice!

Miranda Johnson

Handy umbrella to keep in my purse.

Handy umbrella to keep in my purse. I like pressing a button rather than having to push it open myself. The canopy folds with the button too, although pushing the shaft down afterwards takes a little effort. Still, it's straightforward once you know that. For the price it feels nicely made and keeps me dry. Worth recommending!

Toni Mason

I've been very happy with this one.

I've been very happy with this one. I wanted a nice gray umbrella that wasn't going to feel disposable--and this feels like a good choice. No, it isn't the heaviest duty thing I've held, but it feels perfectly decent for everyday rain. The gray is a proper gray, which I like. My only little quibble is that the opening button needs a more definite push than I first expected. Would that put me off getting another? Not at all.

Marcus Li

Handle feels comfortable and solid to hold.

Arrived today and the rain gave me a chance to try it straight away! The blue looks gorgeous - LOVE it! Handle feels comfortable and solid to hold. Press the button and it opens, press again and the canopy shuts (still have to push the shaft back down yourself, which I hadn't realised). Plenty of cover for me, or a close squeeze for two. Very pleased for what I paid.

Rickey Conway

A well built umbrella.

A well built umbrella. The cream white has been dependable, and I ended up getting one for myself after buying my grown daughter one for her walks in wet weather. The canopy collapses with the button, but I still need a firm push to shorten the shaft...Quite a strong spring in there. It comes with a sleeve, handy for putting it away after drying. It has done well in moderate wind too. Overall I feel both of us have a good umbrella for our walks.

Ana Faulkner

I hadn't paid much attention to the size and it opens wider than…

I hadn't paid much attention to the size and it opens wider than I'd pictured. BUT it feels well made and that's turned out useful rather than a problem. Walking the dog in rain is easier with the extra coverage, I can keep myself covered and get the dog tucked in beside me too.

Cristian Morgan

Overall she's really pleased!

My daughter loves using it! She's managed to keep her book bag dry as well as herself, which matters a lot to me.I'm at four stars mostly because packing it away takes a little care and I don't want her rushing it. We let it stand open until it's dry, then straighten the folds before using the sleeve. Maybe I'm being a bit too careful, but I'd rather look after it than have her treat it as a toy. She would happily press the button all afternoon if I let her.Overall she's really pleased!

Vernon Hanson

Covers me comfortably in my folding chair.

Finally decided I deserved a better umbrella after all those wet soccer and baseball practices. (An umbrella on my birthday list, apparently this is what getting older looks like!) It's sturdy, and nice enough that my 14 year old wants it for herself. Covers me comfortably in my folding chair. A press of the button opens it or draws the canopy shut, then I push the shaft down by hand.

Tracey Cochran

The action is smooth and the umbrella feels well put together.

The action is smooth and the umbrella feels well put together. It has stayed firm through the wet, breezy days I've used it on, with nothing feeling loose. A little bulky when packed, but otherwise very close to what I wanted. The closed loop gives a secure grip.

Rebecca Winters

No sense packing away a wet umbrella.

This is the second of these umbrellas I've had. The newer one is staying in the car, and the other is in the garage for those little trips up the driveway to fetch the mail or take the big trash bin out when it's raining. That button really is the part I appreciate most. Getting it open while dealing with groceries is so much easier than wrestling with an umbrella. It gives me good cover while I move things from the cart to the car, although I still have to be quick or the bags get wet. When I get into the car I leave the door just open enough, press the button to draw the canopy in, then put the umbrella down on the passenger floor. You do have to compress the telescoping part yourself afterwards, the button doesn't shorten it. I let it stand open in the garage until it's dry before folding everything neatly and putting it away. No sense packing away a wet umbrella. And the black is a nice simple choice, which I like!

Deborah Webb

Having the canopy open and close on the button is very handy.

A generous amount of cover, but it packs down neatly enough that it doesn't eat up my bag. Having the canopy open and close on the button is very handy. My one gripe is the final push to shorten the shaft after closing...I have to put some muscle into that part. Otherwise it feels strong, and it has behaved well in the wind I've encountered.

Isaiah Watkins

I felt I got a good deal on this one.

I've looked at quite a few umbrellas in this style and this is the one I liked best. It's really pretty, and it gives a decent amount of cover without being awkward to take along. It has been fine in the rain, although I'm still not keen to try it in those gusts between the buildings downtown. My daughter mainly uses it as a parasol at school. People have asked her where she found it, which is always a nice sign! I went back to look at getting some for her friends and was surprised at how different the prices for umbrellas can be. I felt I got a good deal on this one. Not something I want to spend a fortune on, but for something that actually gets carried and used, I'm pleased with what I paid. I'd happily buy it again!

Victoria Barr

A good umbrella, just not my lightest option.

Ordered this as a spare - I already have a little umbrella that I like for everyday use. This one is useful for some shade at the park or beach, but I find it heavier and a little longer folded than I really want to carry around. The sun gets very hot here in Nevada, so I expected to reach for it more often. Was going to pass it along, then decided it was worth keeping for those occasions. A good umbrella, just not my lightest option.

Trevor Perkins

Seems to be quite tough.

Seems to be quite tough. My three year old daughter spends more time pretending with it indoors than actually needing an umbrella. One day it's a magic wand, the next she's sweeping an imaginary floor. I keep an eye on her with it, of course. Has survived being dragged about and it also kept us dry outside. A little bulky for her to carry, but it's stood up well to her games so far.

Calvin Davies

Looked into umbrella hire for my daughter in law's bridal shower.

Looked into umbrella hire for my daughter in law's bridal shower. The prices put me off, especially with how worn they looked, so I bought this one instead. It looked lovely arranged with the presents and she gets to keep it now. Such a pretty reminder of her special day!

Jennifer Barnes

This has been a great umbrella!

This has been a great umbrella! Arrived when I expected and everything looked good. The button is easy to reach and sends the canopy up with a nice positive action. It feels solid when I'm holding it, rather than flimsy. Overall I'm happy with it and have nothing to grumble about.

Keith Macias

Easy to carry about too.

I am a fan of this umbrella, even if I seem determined to leave it behind everywhere. I've managed it twice now and keep coming back for the same one. *Can't blame the umbrella for my terrible memory! LOL* It does get noticed, and I've had people look over when I'm carrying it, which makes me laugh considering it's just my rain umbrella. What matters to me is that it has kept me dry through some proper downpours and hasn't felt flimsy when the weather turned windy. Easy to carry about too. I'd recommend it without any hesitation, and apparently I recommend it to myself every time I need another! LOL

Connie Sandoval

Not a bad buy for what it cost.

It seems put together fairly well, not something I'd call heavy duty, but perfectly decent. My wife likes hers a lot. I'd thought about getting myself one too, though the blue is more her taste than mine. It's blue outside and black underneath, which looks quite smart when it's up. Folded, it goes into the sleeve and doesn't take up much space in her bag. I can't say yet how long it will last, but it makes wet, gloomy days a bit more cheerful for her. Not a bad buy for what it cost.

Toni Waller

This has to be the prettiest umbrella in my collection...makes even a wet day feel a little nicer!Looks aren't the only thing going for it, either. It has worked well and feels quite substantial when it's up. No truly wild weather to report on yet, but I walk a lot whatever the forecast, so sooner or later it'll get that test...if that happens I'll come back and say how it coped, good or bad!

Samantha Huang

Finally found the sort of umbrella I was looking for!

I wanted a handheld umbrella for shade on the beach, but everything I found locally seemed to be the big patio sort. It was much easier to compare the smaller options online all in one place. Picked this one because it folds down and looked sturdy enough for regular use. No big setup to worry about, just press the button and hold it while enjoying some shade. Finally found the sort of umbrella I was looking for!

Alisha Simon

It all feels good so far.

Small enough to carry around without giving up much bag space. I like having an umbrella with me even when it starts out sunny, just in case. The button makes opening it straightforward, without any fiddling around. It all feels good so far. Still waiting to see how it does in actual rain.

Darrell Cervantes

Annoying wait, but the umbrella itself feels worth the money!

The wait for this umbrella was longer than I would have liked. I needed it while it was raining and was still waiting for it to arrive.Once it finally came I could see that it was made well, and it has been good to use.Annoying wait, but the umbrella itself feels worth the money!

Jessica Mckee

Mine has just arrived and it feels reassuringly solid when I open it.

I needed another umbrella, and choosing one on a screen is tricky when you can't actually hold it or try opening it. A friend suggested this one because hers has served her well for years!! Mine has just arrived and it feels reassuringly solid when I open it. Haven't tested it in rain yet, so I'm hoping it proves as useful as hers. Very pleased with the beige colour as well, much nicer in person than I was expecting.

Joanna Richmond

A really useful umbrella while I had it.

I picked one of these up in a shop about two years ago because I needed an umbrella and it happened to be there. It put up with plenty of rain, windy days, and being chucked into the car when I was rushing, without giving me trouble. Then a few weeks back I left it in a grocery cart, so that was the end of that. Nothing wrong with the umbrella, just me forgetting it. I'm looking for the same thing again because it suited me so well. I do compare prices though, and I'd rather shop around a little than spend extra for no reason. A really useful umbrella while I had it.

Tracey Parsons

We bought a pair and my wife has been equally content with hers.

Doesn't make my laptop bag feel crowded, which was the main thing for me. A few outings in and opening it has been straightforward, as has folding it away. I haven't had any serious wind to test it in yet, though it feels more substantial than the little folding umbrellas I've grabbed in a hurry before. We bought a pair and my wife has been equally content with hers.

Jennifer Gates

Nearly a year with this umbrella now and It has been excellent!

Nearly a year with this umbrella now and It has been excellent! Shade was the main thing I wanted, though it's also seen rain and a bit of wind without any trouble. Standing underneath is much nicer than having the sun right on you. I took it back East to a lacrosse tournament and in that hot, sticky weather it made a real difference! A few people wanted to know where I'd found it, which was nice. It gets used often and still looks in good shape. Easy to bring along and big enough for me to have proper shade. Definitely glad I picked it!

Marco Fitzgerald

Mine comes along in the kayak for a bit of shade or a shower.

Mine comes along in the kayak for a bit of shade or a shower. I've got a milk crate behind the seat with PVC rod holders tied to it, so I'm already carrying enough stuff without a great big umbrella as well. A folding one is manageable to bring along. Today I used it during a rainy spell while I was stopped, and it was handy to have within reach. Gotta say, sitting there with some cover over my head is freakin nice. I hold it rather than trying to paddle with it up. Seems solid, opens easily, and folds away without taking over the kayak. A see through canopy would be nice for the view, but I'm happy with this.

Darin Stafford

It made a good present and was received with considerable enthusiasm.

Nice little umbrella for a child who likes having their own grown up things. The gray looks good and the size is practical, with a button that's simple to use. Lasting well will depend on how carefully it's treated, of course. From looking it over, the construction seems quite respectable for the price. It made a good present and was received with considerable enthusiasm. Now a wet day would be welcome!!! There will probably be a dry weather outing before that happens, just for the pleasure of carrying it. Rather fun.

Aimee Montoya

the loop handle took some getting used to, but it seems sturdy.

There's a LOT more cover than I imagined when I saw it folded, which was a nice surprise. the loop handle took some getting used to, but it seems sturdy. This was for my daughter in the city, where she's always walking from one place to another and wanted something that wouldn't be a nuisance to carry. She was keen to try it...almost wishing for a wet day. She's used it now and is happy with the cover, says the button is handy too...and it didn't flip over when the wind caught it.

At 6'8" I tend to get wet below the waist whatever umbrella I'm using.

At 6'8" I tend to get wet below the waist whatever umbrella I'm using. The tiny pocket ones are particularly hopeless for me. This gives me a more useful amount of cover, while still folding up to carry. We rarely seem to get rain without wind here, and it has coped nicely so far. A practical choice rather than another miniature umbrella.

Leon Riddle

Why five stars:A sturdy folding umbrella was what I needed.

Why five stars:A sturdy folding umbrella was what I needed. What I like/dislike:It gives more cover than the tiny folding ones I've had, and feels substantial. The flexible ribs are reassuring too. If you have sensitive wrists, it may be less comfortable over a long walk because there is a bit of weight to it.Recommended users:Anyone wanting a solid everyday umbrella. Probably those who don't mind something slightly heavier will appreciate it more.

Vincent Odonnell

I still need to hang on and steer it a bit.

First off, the wind where I live seems to have a personal objection to umbrellas. You see people trying to stay respectable on the pavement while their rain cover is doing its best to escape, which would be funny if you weren't out there too.Anyway, I've been through enough small umbrellas to appreciate one that actually feels useful. This gives me room underneath without feeling like I'm carrying a tent, and so far it hasn't flipped on me in the usual blustery rain. The frame has some flex to it without seeming flimsy. My only little gripe is how light it feels when the wind gets underneath; I still need to hang on and steer it a bit. Nothing dramatic, just not a case of holding it with two fingers and forgetting about it.All that said, I'm staying dry and it's been much better value than my previous attempts. I'd happily buy it again.

Erika Chung

This takes me back to those solid umbrellas from the 70's.

We get plenty of wind here along with rain and drizzle, so an umbrella needs to do more than look nice. This takes me back to those solid umbrellas from the 70's. It hasn't flipped on my outings and doesn't pull me about. I had seen similar looking umbrellas costing much more, so finding this at a sensible price was a pleasant surprise.

Tyler Barnes

Anyway, the umbrella is surprisingly nice quality.

I bought the umbrella because it takes me back to meeting the mother of my children, but that's a story in itself. She has passed away, and I'm now with a girlfriend from years ago, so there we are. Anyway, the umbrella is surprisingly nice quality. The handle feels a little cheap to me, my only real gripe. Otherwise it's sturdy in wet weather and people tend to ask me about it.

Jacob Kane

Overall I'm pleased with the replacement.

Picked this up to replace an umbrella I'd been carrying for more than twelve years. I like the compact design and it seems carefully put together. Haven't had much opportunity to see how the flexible frame behaves in a proper breeze yet, but living in Boston I doubt that will take long. The opening action is quick and the canopy feels firm. I tend to prefer a straighter handle, so the oval shape wouldn't have been my first pick. Nothing wrong with it, just a preference. Overall I'm pleased with the replacement.
