Got through a very rainy, windy week in Glasgow with no trouble.

Got through a very rainy, windy week in Glasgow with no trouble. Some of the gusts made me think it would give up - I always seemed to be walking right into them. Yet it held up and I'm still using it.I'd buy another, especially for the roughly $10 I spent. At less than $15 I'd rate it very highly for its size and build, and as something to have handy when you get caught out.

It's about right for one person.

I've used an umbrella for shade for years because the hair on top of my head isn't what it used to be. Much nicer than wearing a hat. No flattened hair afterwards! This replaces the one I lost and gives me a comfortable patch of shade. It's about right for one person. Two could squeeze under, but somebody's shoulder would still be outside the cover in rain or sun.

All in all the quality has made a very good impression on us.

The handle is comfortable to keep hold of, which was the first thing I noticed. Opened up there is enough room for me, or two people standing quite close if needed. We haven't had a chance to see how it does in wind yet, but the frame seems substantial and nothing about it feels flimsy. The closed loop on the handle is useful for hanging it in the closet too. All in all the quality has made a very good impression on us.

Even a rainy day can hold a kind thought!

I'd had a favourite umbrella for years, and finding this while searching for a friend's gift brought that feeling back. She loved it. I put a note in her card saying, "A little shelter for the days that don't go as planned." It's a practical present, but I think there's something comforting in that too. Even a rainy day can hold a kind thought!

The appearance was the main attraction for me.

The appearance was the main attraction for me. The closely spaced ribs give it an interesting look, not quite like the ordinary folding umbrellas I see. Green is pleasant and the finish looks neat, although now I rather wish I had gone for something brighter. Still very nice.

My old patterned umbrella was wearing out after five years.

My old patterned umbrella was wearing out after five years. This replacement looks smart and feels well made. I'd have preferred it a bit wider, but it gives me some welcome shade at the kids' ball games. Those afternoons can be very sunny, so I know I'll get plenty of use from it.

Alisha Boyer

Quite a lot of cover considering how neatly it folds.

Quite a lot of cover considering how neatly it folds. My old larger umbrella was too long for the backpack, whereas this slides in without a struggle and leaves space for other things. The materials and stitching look tidy. I haven't used it enough in rain to say much about long-term durability yet, but initial impressions are good.

We have one in each car now.

We have one in each car now. These are the BEST umbrellas for us! Plenty of room over my head, and they fold away instead of taking over the car. My wife loves hers too, especially having the button when she's out with our two little kids. The build feels really substantial. Even people at work have noticed mine while they're dealing with their smaller umbrellas. Couldn't be happier with them!

The sleeve makes it easy to put away neatly.

A big hit with my little girl, who's four, though I'd happily carry it myself. The sleeve makes it easy to put away neatly. She loves pressing the button to open and close the canopy, while I push the shaft back in afterwards. We use it together and she's so pleased with it!! Might need another gray one for myself, I keep admiring hers!!

Danielle Craig

It is neat looking in gray and I'm happy to use it.

For everyday rain use the umbrella is perfectly adequate, and the build feels good for the money. My reservation is that I pictured something a little smaller when folded, whereas this still takes up a fair portion of my bag.Honestly, that doesn't affect how it works, or really my day to day life as a fairly fashion conscious man. It is neat looking in gray and I'm happy to use it. I just think anyone expecting a tiny umbrella to disappear into a pocket should pay attention to the folded size rather than the word compact.

Mikayla Mitchell

The size was exactly what he wanted.

This was my boyfriend's Christmas present and he was really pleased with it. The size was exactly what he wanted. Having a sleeve is a nice touch, and the oval loop handle is comfortable. We're in San Diego and don't need umbrellas very often, so I'm hoping this one will be with him for ages.

I didn't expect to like the green so much!

I didn't expect to like the green so much! It looks really lovely in person, enough that I wanted to leave a review. The fabric has a nice substantial feel and the shade isn't too bright or too dull. This was a present for my mother and she's delighted with it. She mainly carries it for shade, and there's comfortable room underneath for her. Seems like it will hold up well with use. I can see it being handy when it rains too :) Now I'm tempted to get another just for myself, because practical things can still be pretty. Such a nice find :)

A pink umbrella makes a wet, gloomy day a little nicer!

A pink umbrella makes a wet, gloomy day a little nicer! It gives me good cover and feels nicely made. The button makes opening and collapsing the canopy simple. I especially like the closed loop handle, which slips over a coat hook when I'm putting it away. Such a handy thing to have, and I'm really glad I chose this one!

Miranda Burch

Overall I'm pleased with it for both rain AND a bit of shade.

For someone wanting an umbrella for a round of golf or just getting caught in the rain, this is a handy size. It opens to give me decent coverage without leaving me carrying a huge umbrella the rest of the day. I wouldn't choose it to shelter a group, though. One person is comfortable, two would have to stay pretty close together. The blue looks good to me, simple rather than something that shouts for attention. It feels well put together and the ribs have some give instead of feeling completely rigid. The button is handy when I need the canopy open quickly, and it folds the canopy back down as well. You do still have to shorten the shaft yourself. This is compact compared with a full length umbrella, not something that disappears into any pocket, so check your bag space. Overall I'm pleased with it for both rain AND a bit of shade. The size is the compromise here, but for carrying around on my own it makes sense

Pamela Yang

Really pleased with the size of this!

Really pleased with the size of this! From the folded umbrella I wasn't sure, but opened up it covers me AND my backpack. It goes back into my bag without taking over the whole space, and the weight is comfortable for me. When it's wet I just carry it by the oval handle instead. Opens with a good firm action, nothing feels flimsy about it. For what I paid I'm delighted!

Fred Schaefer

The Haven umbrella has been handy and is straightforward to use.

The Haven umbrella has been handy and is straightforward to use. One press opens it and another gathers the canopy, so getting into the car is much less awkward. In a heavy downpour I still get some spray round the sides. Fine for a short walk in ordinary rain, but not something I'd count on to keep every inch of my clothes dry.

Adam Howe

Having shade over us makes the walk much nicer.

These come along on our afternoon walk back from school. We aren't eligible for the bus, and walking beats sitting in the pickup queue for 45 minutes. Having shade over us makes the walk much nicer. My 6 year old absolutely LOVES carrying her own umbrella and feels very fancy walking along with it. There's been hardly any rain with this drought, so I can only speak for using them in the sun so far.

Leah Gaines

For one person there's ample room.

Umbrellas don't usually last very long in our house, and paying more hasn't always helped. This one has already had plenty of wet outings without giving me trouble. The real test was standing with my spouse at our child's soccer match when the weather turned nasty, with rain coming across the pitch at us. The canopy stayed open and the ribs were fine afterwards. For one person there's ample room. Two can squeeze underneath if you're staying in one spot, which is what we did. It gave us some welcome shelter while we waited. They ended up stopping the match at half time!

Shelly Blanchard

They fold down neatly, so storing them between uses is simple.

Bought several for our wedding party and they did exactly what we needed. Only three made it back to me after the reception and those are getting used regularly, The push button makes putting one up nice and quick. They fold down neatly, so storing them between uses is simple. The plain appearance doesn't worry me in the slightest since the canopy is doing its job and keeping me dry! :-)

Kara Haley

This gives a good impression of being well made, and it's coped…

This gives a good impression of being well made, and it's coped nicely with the breezes I've encountered. The loop handle is comfortable to grip and carrying it is less tiring than I'd worried it might be. Beyond that, I haven't (fortunately) had much opportunity to find out how it behaves in worse weather, and I'm not planning to volunteer for that.

Spencer Carroll

The coverage is fine for me on my own.

I wanted something for travel and the odd shower, not a full-size storm umbrella. Folded, it goes in my backpack without a long handle sticking out. It is portable, yes, but don't read compact as something that will disappear into a little pocket. The coverage is fine for me on my own. I would still take something more substantial for an exposed walk in rough weather. For occasional rain while traveling, which was my reason for choosing it, I'm satisfied.

Tricia Haney

Ive seen people worry that umbrellas are too delicate.

Ive seen people worry that umbrellas are too delicate. Well yes! Their not for swinging about ,or playing games with.My daugter uses this and I think its made pretty well. The ribs have some give to them which seems sensible. The finish isnt anything fancy but for this money I cant complain.price is fair I think.this is definitly nice for my daugter when she wants to look a bit dressed up!

Cassie Brennan

Worth mentioning if you want something you barely notice carrying.

There's a reassuring solidity to this umbrella and it seems carefully put together. I stopped at four stars because I notice the weight when it's in my purse. That's probably the tradeoff for the sturdier build, rather than anything wrong with it. Worth mentioning if you want something you barely notice carrying.

Bridget Fisher

So far I am very happy with this one.

I am outside in the rain quite often supervising children, and I wanted something with proper coverage rather than an umbrella that only just covers my head. So far I am very happy with this one. It feels substantial, has coped well on windy days, and there is room for a little one to stand close beside me when needed. People have commented on how nice it looks too.I do have 3 slightly odd observations:1. There was a noticeable new-material smell at first, but airing it out took care of that.2. The box seemed enormous for a folding umbrella.3. Closing needs a bit of attention. You use the button to fold the fabric, then compress the stem manually, and that takes a firm push. I learned to keep my fingers clear of the moving sections rather than trying to rush it while watching the children. Still very satisfied, these are just things I noticed rather than reasons not to buy it.

Evelyn Richmond

Taken this out in some very blustery rain and it has done well.

Taken this out in some very blustery rain and it has done well. I couldn't put a number on the wind, but a couple of people with me were struggling with theirs while mine kept its shape. They noticed it too. Now I'm more worried about leaving it behind somewhere, or somebody in the family deciding it's theirs!

Mike Marks

It feels light enough yet not weak.

It feels light enough yet not weak. Last night I was walking with two friends and the rain got quite windy. They were fighting with their umbrellas, mine stayed steady. I like how it springs open from the button and the handle feels nice too :). Longer when folded than my previous ones, gives a different feeling carrying it.

Tony Irwin

This umbrella has been VERY USEFUL for that.

I work on archaeological sites in the desert in eastern California, so getting out of the direct sun is a real concern in summer. This umbrella has been VERY USEFUL for that. The frame seems strong and the canopy gives me a comfortable patch of shade while I am outside. It is a manageable handheld size, not something that will shade the whole team, but that also means I can fold it away and carry it easily. There is some pull when a breeze catches it, so I keep a firm grip. So far that has not caused me much trouble. For shade I can take along with my work gear, I consider it a very good buy.

Albert Blake

Overall we're both happy with it.

I chose this for my nine year old daughter to take to the bus stop in wet weather. She likes having her own umbrella and says it gives her plenty of cover. The fabric feels decent and it folds neatly for carrying. My only niggle is that she sometimes wants help pressing the shaft down after the canopy closes. That last part takes a bit of effort for her. Overall we're both happy with it.

Carly Bean

The Beige looks lovely, and it's useful as well.

I enjoyed using mine so much that I bought another for a friend. Why settle for something dreary on a wet morning? The Beige looks lovely, and it's useful as well. One press opens it, another closes the canopy, then you compress the shaft by hand. Every time I take it out I'm pleased I went for this one.

Adam Eaton

It's been opened quite a few times already and still works nicely.

My two girls are 20 months and think umbrellas are the greatest thing. I bought this one and they both want their turn with it...so another one might be needed! We haven't taken it out in rain yet, mostly we wander the apartment building and they enjoy being under it. It's been opened quite a few times already and still works nicely.

Breanna Cook

It's not a little character umbrella, but she is happy with it.

My toddler was set on having a pink umbrella, so the colour was the main attraction. DURABLE We've had it about a year and it still looks good after plenty of rain walks. USING IT I do the button and folding part myself, then let her hold it with me nearby. It opens quickly, so I check that there's room around it first. The loop handle is useful when she decides she's finished carrying it and hands it back. It's not a little character umbrella, but she is happy with it. We have enjoyed our wet walks and I've had some lovely pictures for the scrapbook.

Marcia Huerta

it's a GREAT choice for a gift or yourself!

my gf had been wanting a cream white umbrella so this was her present!it's a GREAT choice for a gift or yourself! feels sturdy and having that button to open it is pretty handy!Only thing i'd say is its more of a ONE person size! two of you can squeeze under there but it's not exactly comfortable and someone's shoulder will probably get wet! not a big issue for us though. she loves it, i like it too and we'd recommend it!

Marisa Andrews

It has earned its place in my bag.

Shade is the main reason I carry an umbrella, and this one has become an everyday thing for me in Florida. I use it going between the car and shops, walking the dog and along the beach when there's no shade around. Being able to fold it up makes it practical to keep with me instead of leaving it behind. The only bit I find harder is pushing the pole back in after closing the canopy; that takes a firm push. I also took it to Yellowstone during the summer heat and was grateful to have my own patch of shade. It has earned its place in my bag.

Kristy Meyer

Both seem solid, nicely finished and the button is handy(!

Bought a pair so there might actually be one left when I need it, the kids tend to borrow mine permanently. Both seem solid, nicely finished and the button is handy(!). Used one in the rain and stayed dry, enough room without carrying a giant umbrella. Could see myself getting another.

Marco Chen

I'm happy with the umbrellas and what we paid for them!

I ordered these for the project my daughter's Second grade class is putting together. The idea is to decorate them with fabric paint and auction them at the schools spring fund raiser. They looked great when they arrived, with a nice green canopy and a solid feeling loop handle. A press of the button has them open quickly. I'm happy with the umbrellas and what we paid for them!

Jaclyn Keith

Every little weight counts for my shoulders.

I wanted an umbrella that opens and closes on a button but was also light to carry. I already carry plenty in my bag and use a public transport for work. Every little weight counts for my shoulders. It's handy getting off the train w/o fiddling around when your hands are full. The button takes a little getting used to but works fine. For me it's just a bit heavier than I hoped for something compact. Otherwise happy with it.

After owning it and using it....

Saw this umbrella getting praised on a news programme, so I thought I'd give it a try. After owning it and using it....MONEY WELL SPENT. I haven't had any problems with it AT ALL. It's stood up to windy weather and I haven't needed a replacement. Been using it for a year, maybe two now. Actually thinking I ought to get another couple to keep as spares! :-)

Craig Wise

My main issue isn't the umbrella, it's me leaving them places...

If you want a folding umbrella that actually gives you decent room underneath, this is a good choice. Don't expect one of those tiny things that disappears into a coat pocket - there's a bit of weight to it, though I think that's a fair trade for how solid it feels. I've came back to look for this one again because it worked well and I couldn't find it locally. Opens quickly, covers me properly and has stood up to rainy days without trouble. My main issue isn't the umbrella, it's me leaving them places...I'd rather pay a little more for something I like using than keep buying the flimsy ones. Just need to hang onto this one.

Daniel Myers

ive had my eye on these for ages but kept putting it off.

ive had my eye on these for ages but kept putting it off. my GF and I ended up with a cheap umbrella for an outdoor event and that was enough to change my mind. I ordered two of these afterwards. much nicer to use and they feel solid without being a pain to carry. no regrets!

Tiffany Shaffer

Needed a replacement after my old umbrella broke.

Needed a replacement after my old umbrella broke. The blue caught my eye when I was looking online, and the price seemed good. Have had it out a few times now and really like it - gives me enough cover without being huge, and the button is easy to use. Packs away without much fuss too.

Julia Barry

It's become part of my city routine!

Walking to the subway in New York means I need more than something that barely covers my head. This one has given me decent shoulder coverage and has been dependable so far. It feels manageable even with some wind, which matters when there's a long walk ahead. I reach for it whenever the forecast looks wet rather than trying to make do without. It's become part of my city routine!

We are having the wedding party carry umbrellas rather than bouquets, so I ordered eight in gray. Opening them all up was such a lovely surprise, they look so smart together! They feel nicely made and the pictures really did give the right impression. I took a quick photo for my bridesmaids straight away and they are already excited about using them on the day. Each one has its own sleeve, which is useful for keeping everything tidy until then. Very happy one of those is for me too because I would have hated to miss out ;)

Darren Parsons

A really nice umbrella.

A really nice umbrella. I've very pleased with my purchase and how quickly it arrived. The sleeve probably won't get much use, i haven't got the patience to put it away in that every time - lol Living in the desert means i won't need it too often, but it's going to stay in my car so it's there when i do. Glad i bought it. Love that green colour!

Ronald Frank

This one feels substantial for a folding umbrella.

I've had this about a year now and it's earned its space in my bag. Winter, spring, rain coming at you between buildings... the usual city nonsense. I walk near the river a lot, which is where I've generally learnt whether an umbrella is any good. This one feels substantial for a folding umbrella. Not feather light, but the handle is comfortable and the frame doesn't have that flimsy feel. And yes, it still folds down enough to go in my bag. The button is useful when you're trying to get moving quickly, especially at crossings where cab drivers seem to think pedestrians are optional. An umbrella is not a traffic signal, apparently.I used to close my old ones before certain corners because a gust there would turn them straight inside out. With this I've mostly just felt the ribs give a little and settle again, rather than having to fight the whole thing. That's what I appreciate most. I'm still sensible about really bad weather, but normal wet, gusty walks are less of a nuisance now. After a year the action still works smoothly and nothing feels loose. Money well spent, absolutely.

Carl Bautista

compact doesn't mean tiny, and it has a bit of weight.

I chose the black umbrella for a friend who likes a simple, understated style. It looks smart and has been perfectly decent in the rain. The frame feels substantial too.One reservation is how much room it takes up folded; compact doesn't mean tiny, and it has a bit of weight. I'm used to very basic umbrellas, so that took a little getting used to. Still, I like the overall look and would recommend it for the price. I have a habit of leaving umbrellas behind anyway, so I'm probably more bothered about getting good use out of one than keeping it forever.

Jean Blair

Great little umbrella very happy with it..

Great little umbrella very happy with it.. No Problems so far. Been out with it a few times in rain and some wind and it kept me dry. The frame feels strong and didn't go inside out like some Ive owned. I think this one is gonna be around for a good while. The blue looks good too and Im already thinking about getting another colour for a spare..

Tommy Archer

The size was my main reason for getting this umbrealla.

The size was my main reason for getting this umbrealla. There is enough space underneath for me and the rain falls away at the edges. Holding it at the right angle keeps the drips off my back, which is what I wanted. It feels wide enough for an adult, but not so big that it is awkward to take along.

Sean Cooke

My wife uses it for her morning walks.

My wife uses it for her morning walks. She wasn't very keen at first, being used to a lighter folding umbrella, but having a decent patch of shade and a frame that feels solid has won her over. Now it goes along most mornings. She's also said a few times how nicely made it feels.

Jessica Leonard

Absolutely love it!

Absolutely love it! Taking it out and trying it brought back memories of the umbrella I had as a kid!! It looks lovely opened up, with a nice amount of space underneath, yet it doesn't take up much space folded. The automatic opening is smooth and gathering the canopy with another press is easy. Then I just compress the stem to pack it up. Haven't had any rain to try it in yet, though some is forecast in the next few days. From looking it over I can't see anything to worry about. Looking forward to using it!

Jody Mccormick

So far it's done well in wet and windy weather.

So far it's done well in wet and windy weather. The oval handle is unusual but sits nicely in my hand. Took me a little while to get used to the closing. The button folds the canopy, then I shorten the stem manually before putting it away. Feels comfortable to carry.
