The plain colour looks quite striking when it's opened up.
My boyfriend is a keen golfer, and after he came back soaked from a full round I decided an umbrella would make a useful gift. I hesitated over spending that much on a folding umbrella, but seeing how pleased he was made it worthwhile. It looks smart in cream white and feels substantial without needing to be carried as a long golf umbrella. He has enough cover for himself when he's out on the course, and likes being able to open it quickly with the button. We've also taken it to little league games and other outdoor events, where it has been useful for both passing showers and a patch of shade. The plain colour looks quite striking when it's opened up. A practical, good looking present that he actually uses, and I'd certainly recommend it.

She has fun with it and comes home dry!!
My eight year old daughter needed a replacement after her little puppy umbrella gave up almost straight away! This one has already had plenty of twirling, repeated button pressing and trips to school. It's a good size once open but folds down so she's not carrying a long stick around. She has fun with it and comes home dry!! It seems much more substantial than her old one, and the frame hasn't been bothered by the windy walks we've had so far.

Otherwise, assume it's stayed on my "umbrellas worth carrying" list.
I picked this umbrella because I expected good quality, and overall that's what I've found. After three outings in light rain the canopy has kept me dry and everything still opens as it should. My frustration is really the folded size - it takes up more space in my bag than I had pictured. For something called compact, that is a little annoying. It isn't enough to make me stop using it, though. The construction feels solid and the automatic opening is convenient, which counts for quite a lot when it's raining. I'll add to this review ONLY if longer use gives me a reason to change my opinion. Otherwise, assume it's stayed on my "umbrellas worth carrying" list. (I suppose I have one of those now).

shortening the stem is manual.
At roughly 105cm across it's comfortable for one and workable for two close together, rather than a big golf-sized umbrella. I needed something that folded, and the 40cm packed size suits that. The button sends it up and gathers the canopy again; shortening the stem is manual. The oval loop is comfortable enough in my hand. The sleeve is fairly basic, really, and I don't find it particularly helpful for carrying it about.

Man, pretty handy thing to carry.
Man, pretty handy thing to carry. Feels well put together..nice loop handle. There's a button to open it, another press draws the canopy in. Then you shorten the pole yourself. Sleeve is simple, nothing fancy. Blue outside, black underneath. I CAN feel the difference standing in its shade, which is what I bought it for. Rain performance..can't tell you yet, hasn't been tested that way.If it keeps going like this..could be the nicest little umbrella I've EVER owned.

Almost makes me want a rainy stroll through London!
Almost makes me want a rainy stroll through London! The pink looks lovely and it actually covers my back as well as my head (can't stand getting soaked down one side!). I've only taken it out a couple of times, so it's early days, but the opening feels solid rather than cheap. A good size once it's up, and that cheerful colour is nice when the clouds are looking miserable.
Ashley Ashley
The loop handle feels good in my hand
Much better coverage in rain than the little folding travel umbrella I had. Got drenched from the waist down in a heavier shower and bought this one, BIG difference.A bit more weight to carry, but staying drier makes that worthwhile. The loop handle feels good in my hand; I would happily get this again.

The umbrella I used to have disappeared from my porch.
The umbrella I used to have disappeared from my porch. (Apparently someone else took a fancy to it) I bought this to replace it and it has worked out really well. I have a young son, so being able to cover myself and him when we're out with the stroller matters more to me than having the tiniest umbrella. We keep close and it gives us useful cover without being an enormous thing to carry. On a crowded pavement I do have to watch where I open it, but round our neighborhood it's easy to manage. It's especially helpful that I can press the button with one hand while keeping the other on the stroller. No stopping to fight with an umbrella. The sleeve is a little snug if I haven't folded the fabric neatly, though taking a moment to smooth it down sorts that out. I've used it quite a lot already and would happily recommend it to other parents.
Russell Burgess
Decent umbrella, doing what it's supposed to so far.
Decent umbrella, doing what it's supposed to so far. Its a little heavier then the ones I normally carry and I'd prefer a firmer feel from the shaft. The flexibility is probably fine, I just find a rigid one more reassuring when a gust comes along. Been looking for this sort of compact umbrella for ages, so glad I finally found one.
Ariel Owen
Useful both in the rain and for a little shade.
A very good umbrella with an open span of about 105cm, which gives me decent coverage without feeling enormous. It folds to roughly 40cm and the weight is reasonable for it's size. The button raises the canopy and brings it down again, so that's convenient. For the money I think it's an excellent buy. Useful both in the rain and for a little shade.
Hector Newton
Clearly I wasn't the only one who thought it was a nice umbrella.
I enjoyed using this for about two days, then somebody helped themselves to it from the restaurant's hostess station. Clearly I wasn't the only one who thought it was a nice umbrella. Annoying to lose it that quickly, and I will be getting another. The one little thing I wasn't keen on was putting it back in the sleeve. It needs a tidier roll than I usually manage when I'm in a hurry.
Chloe Frye
It makes the umbrella a tidier thing to carry.
I've been using this umbrella for roughly a month and it has become the one I reach for. It comes along most days rather than being left behind because carrying it is too much bother. The oval handle gives it a slightly unusual look, although it hasn't suddenly given me any heroic umbrella-wielding skills. More importantly, it sits comfortably in my hand. I can keep a secure grip without having to squeeze hard, which matters more to me than any dramatic possibilities.
The fabric and frame seem nicely put together, and a press of the button gets it open in one smooth movement. Opening it certainly doesn't require much effort. The supplied sleeve is useful too, especially for keeping the folded fabric gathered instead of having it spreading against everything else in my bag. It makes the umbrella a tidier thing to carry.
The sleeve is also the part I am least enthusiastic about. I have to take a moment to arrange the folds before sliding it back in; rushing that step makes it more of a struggle than it needs to be. A little patience sorts it out, and I would rather have a reasonably neat fit than a loose cover that slips away.
PROS:
++Comfortable loop handle
++Smooth opening action
++Solid-feeling construction
++Useful carry cover
CONS:
--Putting the cover back on is not my quickest performance.
Overall, I would recommend it to someone wanting an everyday umbrella with a bit of character.
Alan Beltran
this umbrella works well for that.
i don't enjoy being out in the sunshine too long, so i like carrying some shade with me here in CA. this umbrella works well for that. saw what looked like it cheaper somewhere else :( finding the right thing online is not easy, search gives me everything except what i am looking for sometimes。。。

There seem to be several approaches to rain.
There seem to be several approaches to rain. Some people pull their coat up round their ears and decide that's enough. They apparently don't mind arriving somewhere damp. Other people buy whatever little umbrella is nearest the till, use it for a few days, then wonder why it doesn't feel very substantial. And then you meet people who live somewhere it rains all the time. They bring a proper umbrella and don't spend the whole walk fighting with it. I wanted to join that last group, at least in terms of equipment. This one has made a good start. It covers me properly, feels steady in the wind I've encountered and folds down enough to go in my bag. The button is easy to use, too. I don't need a dramatic rain accessory, I just want to get where I'm going reasonably dry. So far that is exactly what I've got, with enough room for someone to squeeze under beside me if needed.
Steve Wolfe
There is a little weight to it
I had pictured one of those tiny umbrellas that barely covers your shoulders, so the spread of this one surprised me a bit. It still folds down to a manageable size, which suits me better than carrying a long umbrella. For a little drizzle it almost feels unnecessary. On the other hand, I really dislike arriving somewhere wet, especially when I've got my laptop bag, and the coverage has been useful for that. Another person could squeeze alongside me, but I would think of it mainly as a comfortable umbrella for one.
The oval loop feels comfortable in my hand, and both the canopy and shaft seem fairly substantial. I've had it about a month, so that's an impression rather than a claim about years of use. There is a little weight to it; anyone wanting something barely noticeable in their bag might find it more than they need. Closing it is straightforward: the button folds the canopy, then you compress the telescoping section yourself. The sleeve helps keep the folded fabric tidy.
I'd happily recommend it for someone who wants decent coverage and something manageable once the shower passes. Probably not the choice for someone whose main priority is the tiniest, lightest umbrella possible, or who already carries half their house around.
Vincent Stephenson
Definitely one I'd recommend!
I use this walking around downtown Atlanta, where the wind funnels between the tall buildings. You see so many discarded umbrellas after a rainy day. This one feels sturdy and has handled my walks well. It looks great too, and people have commented on it. I liked it enough to get another for the car. Definitely one I'd recommend!

Summer in Las Vegas goes on for ages and the sun can be fierce.
Summer in Las Vegas goes on for ages and the sun can be fierce. I wanted an umbrella for walks in the daylight, at the times when it's still bearable to be outside. This gives me a useful patch of shade and is comfortable enough to carry along. I wouldn't mind it being a little lighter on longer walks. The construction looks sound to me, so I'm hoping it will wear well over time.
Katelyn Jarvis
Happy enough with it, especially considering what I paid.
For the money it's a decent umbrella, although the finish isn't quite what you'd get on a more expensive one. Most of it feels well put together. The opening button is the part that feels a bit plasticky to me, but it has worked every time I've used it. Happy enough with it, especially considering what I paid.
Noah Romero
Pleased with this one and what I paid for it.
The first umbrella was bought ahead of time for a friend to use as a wedding prop. With my own wedding coming up, the dog apparently thought it was a chew toy. So here I am buying a replacement. Pleased with this one and what I paid for it. It will be stored somewhere the dog cannot reach. Thank you.
Miranda Harrison
My busy 4year old really took to it.
He wants to take this umbrella out even when there's not a cloud around. It was apparently a big hit at preschool too, because another child carried it home and their parents still haven't brought it back. the button is simple for him to press, though I help with packing it away. My busy 4year old really took to it. If it doesn't find its way home soon I might have to get him another.
Caitlyn Bell
Lovely umbrella.
Lovely umbrella. Plenty of cover for me when I'm walking the dog! Feels really solid, and I like the black. Thought my old umbrella had vanished, then of course it turned up. So now there's a spare, but THIS is the one I reach for! Folds away too, which is handy .. the BEST part is having decent coverage without carrying a great long stick ;)
Cindy Joseph
Nice cream white colour.
Nice cream white colour. Good coverage. A little heavier than I'd hoped, although still quite manageable. It comes with a sleeve for putting it away, which I appreciate at this price. I would prefer a looser fit, as getting the fabric wrapped neatly takes a moment. Not a major problem, just something I notice when packing it away. Overall I like it, but the weight keeps it from being a favourite.
Dawn Fernandez
i bought this umbrella and have been pleased with it on the whole.
i bought this umbrella and have been pleased with it on the whole. There is a certain way to put it away so it is worth understanding that first. A press on the button gets it open, and it spreads out without having to arrange anything. Once up it feels quite sturdy. The slightly annoying part for me is putting it down, not using it. I am near the ocean and we get some windy days here. You can feel the wind against it but in the rain I have used it in it has held up well. The loop handle is different to what I was used to but I can hold it comfortably. To put it away the button gathers the canopy, then you still have to push the telescoping part down yourself. You need to finish that before trying the button again.A friend borrowed it and was puzzled about how to get it ready to reopen. I showed them how to push it all the way down and then it was fine. Would I buy another? I think so. It is a nuisance having that extra step but now I know it, it isn't much trouble. Better than several umbrellas I have had before.
Natalie Sullivan
Happy I spent the money on this one!
The green is brighter in person than I expected from the pictures, and much nicer than the slightly flat color I thought I was getting. Opening it has quite a kick, so I keep a firm hold and aim it away from anyone nearby. The shaft, canopy and ribs all seem solid, although there hasn't been enough rain yet for me to say much about long term use.Update: Almost two years later and I'm still pleased with it. The color hasn't lost its appeal, the button opens it as briskly as ever, and everything still feels sound. It has been out in plenty of rain over that time without giving me any trouble. Happy I spent the money on this one!
Chloe Lawson
A good purchase for the occasion!
Well before my daughter's spring wedding, I ordered two umbrellas so we would be prepared if it rained. I wanted something presentable without spending too much on a just in case purchase. These are just right! They look nicer than I expected for the price and feel well put together. The canopy gives good coverage, and the opening button makes them easy to put up. I like that they fold down too, since we won't have long umbrellas to carry around when they aren't needed. The loop handle is different from what I'm used to, but easy enough to hold. So glad to have these ready rather than worrying about rain nearer the day. A good purchase for the occasion!
Ashley Lam
Fold it, open it again - there's a little film back.
Good umbrella overall but the metal stem feels oily even after a wipe with paper towel. Fold it, open it again - there's a little film back.I don't find it affects using it, just not something I want on my hands. The frame feels substantial and I expect to get plenty of use from it (city wind is usually what wears mine out)
Jason Jackson
I expect to keep carrying this one for quite a while.
Rain is a regular thing where I live in Florida, so this hasn't had an easy life. I wanted something that could cope with breezy wet days and so far it has done that well. Nothing about it seems delicate and I've certainly not been careful with it. Still working as it should after plenty of use. I expect to keep carrying this one for quite a while.
Ricky Dudley
My main reservation is the size once it's folded.
I'm a tall guy and wanted an umbrella with enough coverage for winter, but still something I could put away when I wasn't using it. I looked through several styles before choosing this one for the price and the way it looked. The construction seems very good, and the frame feels reassuringly solid. Luckily I haven't had to put it through really strong wind, so I can't say much about that part yet. My main reservation is the size once it's folded. It's compact compared with a long umbrella, but it's not one of those tiny ones you forget is in your bag. Make sure you have a look at the folded size before buying. It takes up more space than I had pictured, and I would have liked it a little shorter for carrying around. Open, though, it gives me the coverage I was after without feeling skimpy. In summary: Nicely put together and useful in the rain, just not as small to carry as the word compact might suggest.
Dustin Garrett
as an umbrella, it has otherwise served me very well.
I've had this umbrella for nearly two years now, so it has had a fair amount of use. For something that folds down, the coverage is good, and I have generally stayed dry even when the rain comes in at a bit of an angle. The flexible ribs have coped well with the wind I have encountered. The handle, shaft and opening mechanism all still feel solid, which is the important part. There is one qualification, though. The finish on the handle has picked up quite visible scuffs, despite my not treating it particularly roughly. There are marks around the end as well, although I rarely rest it on the ground. None of that stops the umbrella working, but it does make it look older than I would have expected. If you are carrying it every day, I suspect the cosmetic wear would show fairly quickly. I would have preferred a tougher finish on those exposed areas. That is why I have stopped at four stars; as an umbrella, it has otherwise served me very well.

As described and useful for a patch of shade.
As described and useful for a patch of shade. This is the sort you can actually fold away and carry, not something that takes over the whole beach. Enough room for me underneath without feeling ridiculous walking around with it. A "survival" umbrella? Probably not, though I'd still be the person saying "Hang on, where's my umbrella?" while everyone else was getting into the lifeboat. I like having it along.
Levi Dickerson
Other than that, it's been a good buy.
I took this to England because rain and wind were very much on the cards. Packs away in its sleeve neatly enough for my purse, which I like. Pushing the shaft back in after the canopy closes takes a little more effort than I'd prefer. Other than that, it's been a good buy.
Vernon Rocha
A much better memory than mine, apparently.
Somewhere along the way I must have sent a friend a photo of this umbrella and made a big fuss over it. I have absolutely no recollection of that conversation, but it does sound like me. They kept it in mind and there it was among my birthday presents. A much better memory than mine, apparently.
It's soooo nice in person - the beige is lovely without being too much. I've had quite a few comments already and two people at work have decided they need one too. There is comfortable room underneath for me, including the bag hanging off my shoulder, although I wouldn't volunteer to share unless we were both prepared to squeeze together. I can hold it high enough to see where I'm going without feeling as though I've left half of myself outside the cover.
My biggest irritation with umbrellas is making the effort to carry one and then ending up wet anyway. Either the canopy seems too small or the whole thing feels so flimsy that you spend the walk worrying about it. This one has kept my head, shoulders and bag dry in the rain I've used it in, and it feels substantial when it's open. Not something that feels as though it needs treating very delicately.
If I really have to find a downside, it isn't the tiniest thing once folded. It goes in my usual bag, but you do know it's there - which I don't particularly mind. It's still far more convenient to put away than a long umbrella, and I'll take a reassuring feel over something that seems barely held together.
Mostly I'm just delighted my friend paid attention when I apparently wasn't paying attention to myself. Getting to work with dry hair and a nice-looking umbrella is a fairly good result for a present I hadn't remembered asking for.
Charles Coleman
good solid feel and easy to use!
Received ours as a gift and it has been a really useful one. The umbrella feels sturdy, opens nicely, and my child loves taking it along. LOVE having something practical that gets enjoyed as well. I'd happily recommend it...good solid feel and easy to use! Really pleased with this!
Shelly Cortez
A little annoying when I'm in a hurry, otherwise I'm happy with it.
It looks surprisingly cute and I've had some nice comments, BUT putting it away neatly is more of a job than I'd like. The sleeve is snug enough that I can't just stuff the folded umbrella into it and go. I have to smooth the fabric round first. A little annoying when I'm in a hurry, otherwise I'm happy with it.
Eugene Charles
The open width is roughly 105cm
A month is not long enough for me to judge longevity, and I haven't had it out in real gusts. First impressions are very good, though: a neat appearance, a substantial frame with 30 flexible ribs, and a crisp opening action. At 6'6" I could use more coverage down towards my legs, but that is a size issue rather than a fault with the umbrella. The open width is roughly 105cm; I should have paid more attention to that instead of concentrating on how compact it would be folded. For its intended size, I'm very satisfied with the construction and operation.
Courtney Torres
The sleeve is my other small gripe.
Umbrellas were never something I bothered with much. Getting a bit wet just seemed part of going outside. The amount of rain lately has changed my mind about that, especially with a shaved head and temperatures still barely above freezing. There's wet, and then there's cold water running down your head before you've even made it out of the car park.
Choosing one mostly came down to how easily I could use it getting out of the car. I wanted to open the door a little, get the umbrella outside, and have it up before the rest of me followed. A button seemed considerably easier than trying to unfold something while rain came through the doorway. It also needed to fold down small enough to leave in the car. I've never personally had an umbrella flip over, but I've watched enough other people fighting theirs that the flexible ribs sounded worth having. Not something I'm planning to deliberately test, though.
On unpacking it, the handle was comfortable to hold and the opening action was the first thing I tried. No hesitation there. Press it and the whole thing springs out quite decisively. That's worked well for the car-door routine, which was really the reason for buying it in the first place. I can get underneath it before stepping out rather than standing there getting soaked while sorting it out.
Putting it away needs a bit more explanation. Pressing the button again gathers the canopy, but you still have the extended shaft to deal with. That part gets pushed down by hand. I had expected less effort from the whole process, and there's a fair amount of spring pressure to push against. Once I understood the two separate movements it made sense, but it isn't quite the effortless reverse of opening it. My easiest method is a palm against the top, pressing it down towards the handle rather than trying to pull everything together by the folded fabric.
The sleeve is my other small gripe. Unless I've wrapped the umbrella fairly neatly, getting it back inside is more fiddly than I want to bother with. A little extra room would help. Most of the time I don't use it anyway. After pushing the shaft back in, I leave the umbrella unwrapped behind the passenger seat to dry, where I can reach it next time. Not especially tidy, but practical enough for me.
For actually standing underneath in the rain, I've no real complaints. I'm over six feet tall and the coverage is decent without feeling like I'm carrying an enormous umbrella around. Some fuss putting it away, yes, but it does the job I finally admitted I needed one for.
Susan Wright
The good reviews were what persuaded me to buy this one.
The good reviews were what persuaded me to buy this one. It does look nicely made , but carrying it around has been less convenient than I thought. Folded up it's longer than I expected and doesn't fit my usual bag. Keeps me dry, just not quite what I was expecting.

A lovely choice for a young would-be firefighter.
A lovely choice for a young would-be firefighter. Nothing fancy needed, just a nice blue umbrella that feels properly made. The size is useful and the button is easy to use. Longevity is always going to depend on how carefully it is handled, of course. For what it cost I think it makes a very pleasing gift for a child. Arrived neatly packed with everything looking fine. We're eagerly watching for a rainy day now, though I doubt the lack of rain will stop it being taken outdoors!!! A hit.

Love taking this out with me.
Love taking this out with me. It has kept me dry when the rain really comes down, and it is handy on walks with my dog (he gets a fair bit of shelter too). My only niggle is getting it folded neatly enough to go back in the sleeve. Once I take a moment to straighten the fabric it slips in fine, so nothing serious. I'd happily recommend it.

Such a lovely umbrella, reminds me of being little.
Such a lovely umbrella, reminds me of being little. My order wasn't right initially, but they sorted it out quickly and were really nice about it. That made the whole thing much easier. My niece is five and has already decided she would like an umbrella just like mine.

It gives me welcome shade and I love having it.
Here in Iraq I've wanted this kind of Umbrella for such a long time. Now at last I have it. My walk every day is only six minutes, but in our burning Sun that is enough. It gives me welcome shade and I love having it. Would like a bigger one still, but very happy with this.

I wanted a umbrella that would stop me getting drenched but didn't…
I wanted a umbrella that would stop me getting drenched but didn't look quite like everything else I saw. Found this while wandering around the webz and I've got rather attached to it. It's solid, works properly and that oval loop handle gives it a different look without making it awkward to hold. The sleeve is useful too, I can put it away neatly rather than have loose folds everywhere. For somebody wanting a useful umbrella with a little bit of character, I'd certainly say this one is worth a look.
Sergio Banks
This is really a one-person umbrella.
This is really a one-person umbrella. There is enough coverage for me, but I wouldn't expect to squeeze anyone else under it comfortably. On that basis it works well.
The opening and closing action has been dependable. What I particularly appreciate is that the canopy collapses at the far end of the extended pole. When getting into a car I can hold the wet part outside and close it without drawing it over my lap. The telescoping pole then needs pressing together manually, but that part is straightforward.
It shakes off rain quite readily as well. A few shakes leave much less water hanging about, and the supplied sleeve makes it neater to put away. I'd still be careful about packing it beside anything that must stay completely dry.
There is a fair amount of give in the frame. I can see why some flexibility would be useful in a breeze, although it does make the whole thing feel a little less substantial than I prefer.
Once packed away it's a manageable size, though not a tiny pocket umbrella. It would protrude a long way from a jeans pocket; a roomy handbag is a better fit. If that's how you intend to carry it, this is a useful choice.
Cory Sandoval
quite a lot from a compact umbrella!
From the reviews I expected decent coverage, but it was still a surprise how wide the canopy looked when I opened it; quite a lot from a compact umbrella! Haven't had an opportunity to take it out in rain so far. The frame feels solid and my first impression is very good!

The quality really is there.
Christmas shopping was how I ended up buying this for someone else. I was with her when she opened it and could have a proper look. The quality really is there. It was one of those presents you settle on when nothing else seems right, but this turned out to be a good choice. I'd been browsing umbrellas for myself.. then put that aside because everyone else's gifts came first. The pink looked nice and the frame felt much more substantial than I expected from something that folds up. Normally I would look for a bigger umbrella for myself, still I liked this enough to order one too.. with spring not far away it seemed sensible. I can't say much about using it in rain yet, this is really about seeing it out of the package. After all the snow we've had this winter I'm expecting plenty of wet weather when it warms up.. so there should be lots of chances to try mine properly. Looking forward to actually having one to use instead of just admiring hers.
Mary Cruz
Haven't taken it out in any rain because it only just arrived.
Haven't taken it out in any rain because it only just arrived. I did open it indoors though and was surprised by how much cover it gives for a folding umbrella. Looks like it should keep me well covered, but I'll need a proper wet day before I can say more. Will update after that.
Karla Rollins
It's a decent size opened up and has kept me dry in the rain.
It's a decent size opened up and has kept me dry in the rain. The button opening is handy, (not something I thought I'd care about). The part I really appreciate is the oval loop handle. I can hold it comfortably and it feels more secure in my hand than the little straight handles I'm used to.
Clinton Jarvis
The quality seems as good as the ones I've looked at in regular shops.
If your child likes having their own umbrella, I think they would enjoy this one. The quality seems as good as the ones I've looked at in regular shops. Nothing complicated about the button, which my daughter who is nearly 3 enjoys trying with my help. I take care of pushing it back in. Very cute and she likes carrying it.

Bought our grandson this umbrella for his birthday and had it ready in time for the party, which was a relief. There is a nice amount of room under it without having something huge to carry. Looking forward to using it at his soccer games this spring, in sunshine or rain.

This was a gift a couple of years back, really nice design.
This was a gift a couple of years back, really nice design. Still get remarks about it. Lovely gray. It's been used a lot since then, including by my grandchildren, and hasn't spent much time put away. There are signs of being carried around so much, but it still opens properly and does what we need in the rain. I do think how often the grand kids borrow it says plenty. Would def have another for myself and leave this one for them, rather than keep trying to get it back!!
