These feel fairly substantial and give a decent amount of cover.

These feel fairly substantial and give a decent amount of cover. They fold down, although not to the tiny size I had pictured, so they still take up some space in the car. For everyday use they seem perfectly decent. They have held their shape well and the price was reasonable. Not the smallest option to store, but that is my only real reservation.Overall, a sensible buy if being absolutely pocket sized is not important to you.

Good points:1.

Good points:1. Press once and it springs open, press again and the fabric folds in. You still have to shorten the telescoping part yourself before putting it away. That makes getting into a car or a doorway in the rain much less of a juggling act!2. The frame seems strong and hasn't flipped during the breezy weather I've used it in.Bad points:1. Getting it down to its packed length takes a fairly firm push, more than I find comfortable.2. It is also quite bulky in my bag compared with the little folding umbrellas I'm used to. Useful cover and convenient opening, but the last part of packing it away means I don't find it completely effortless.

It will be good to have one each.

We spend most of the summer at our sons' baseball games, sitting on metal bleachers with very little shade. Our old umbrella let too much sunlight through, so it never made sitting there particularly pleasant. I decided to try this one and it has been a good change. The canopy gives me a useful patch of shade. It is black outside and underneath, with no bright fabric above my face while I'm watching the game. It's a handheld umbrella rather than something that shades an entire row, so I hold it over myself instead of expecting everyone beside me to fit. Folding it away is handy when we are carrying chairs back after a game. The whole thing feels well put together. We've had a few wet spells and it has kept the rain off, and the frame has coped with the breezy days so far too. For how often it gets used, I think it was money well spent.Update: I have ordered another because my husband and I sometimes end up at different fields with the boys. It will be good to have one each.

It looks nice.

I bought this for my 5 year old daughter and she has barely put it down. It looks nice. The blue is a good colour without looking too babyish. It seems quite solid to me, not flimsy like some folding umbrellas can be. She's been carrying it around the house and trying the button for days and everything is working fine.

What a cheerful umbrella.

What a cheerful umbrella. We get plenty of rain here in Seattle and next year for my 50th, four girlfriends and I are off to New York, so finding this early was fun. The green looks so nice out in the rain, makes a change from all the dull umbrellas around here. Had to take a photo of it outside and put it on my social page. Thanks

This opens easily and has been sturdy through those long games .

The Best umbrella i've had ,all that standing at lacrosse games this spring in the rain ,and i was dry afterwards .A breeze came through too and it held up fine .People making a fuss about a new umbrella smell ,come on its for the weather not serving dinner .What matters to me is cover and not wrestling with it every time the rain starts .This opens easily and has been sturdy through those long games .I'd spend the money again ,five stars from me !!!!!

All in all, a very good buy and I'm happy with it.

Pretty much what I wanted, at a price that didn't hurt. I expected something rather basic, but this feels better made than the cost suggests. It looks cute, and the box it came in was ridiculously big compared with the umbrella. There's enough canopy to keep both me and my bag dry, which was the important part. I hold it high enough to see ahead rather than hiding under it, and it folds down afterwards instead of being another long thing to carry about. All in all, a very good buy and I'm happy with it.

Worth what I paid for it, and my husband was delighted with his gift.

This was part of my husband's birthday present, and it made a very good impression. The quality of the frame and fabric is noticeable, with nothing feeling flimsy or carelessly put together. The canopy sits taut when opened, the loop handle feels strong, and the button is straightforward to use. Worth what I paid for it, and my husband was delighted with his gift.

Ronnie Roach

the oval handle feels solid, the opening action is positive

Thoughtfully put together; the oval handle feels solid, the opening action is positive; having a sleeve is useful too! There are a few marks now after plenty of use...though I suspect that says more about my kids treating it as fencing equipment than anything about the umbrella. It has survived their enthusiasm remarkably well!

Sandy Hubbard

Glad I picked this one.

Needed a replacement after losing my old umbrella, and this has been a great choice. It feels substantial without being a big awkward thing to take along, and the frame looks much better put together than what I was carrying before. For the price I paid I think it's a very good buy, and more importantly it actually works well in the rain. I would reccommend it to anyone after a useful folding umbrella rather than something flimsy. Glad I picked this one.

A year or so on, this is still the umbrella I reach for.

A year or so on, this is still the umbrella I reach for. Rain here often comes with wind, so just buying something small enough to carry has not always worked out well for me. This one has been a useful compromise: a decent spread above me without carrying a full-length umbrella around after the rain stops. It has kept my head and upper body dry in the rain I've been out in, and the frame still feels solid. I wouldn't treat that as a reason to walk straight into any storm, though. You still need to keep hold of it and pay attention to which way the rain is coming, especially when the wind changes direction. The oval handle gives me something secure to grip. The one slightly tiresome part is packing it away neatly. If I just bunch the fabric up, getting it back into the sleeve takes longer than doing it properly in the first place. That is a small thing after this much use, and the button still operates smoothly. I'm pleased with how it has held up overall.

This time I chose a practical umbrella instead.

My dad collects swords, so I usually end up looking for novelty presents. This time I chose a practical umbrella instead. I thought it felt nicely put together when I checked it over. Haven't tried it outside, but nothing about it felt less solid than the umbrellas I've used myself. The loop handle has a substantial feel, and I liked the pink canopy. There is a bit of weight to it, which might not be ideal if you're holding your arm out for ages, but for what I wanted it seemed quite suitable. Admittedly the handle is fairly plain, not especially decorative.Overall it seems a nice choice as a gift, and it arrived promptly too.

Charlene Barnett

Would certainly recommend this umbrella.

Just the thing for wandering through the French Quarter on a hot summer day...lovely to have my own shade, and it looks elegant too. The black is quite smart, nicely finished. I could be persuaded to get a second one IF I decide I need a spare....For the price I am VERY pleased. Would certainly recommend this umbrella.

Gary Higgins

The cream white looks very nice in person.

The cream white looks very nice in person. Everything seems neatly finished and well put together. It arrived quickly too. Anyone wanting a very light umbrella might find it heavy for carrying all day, but the weight doesn't bother me and there's plenty of cover when it is open.

Kathryn Ballard

LOLThe blue looks great and the finish seems good.

Being a softball mom, I thought this looked sooo useful and had to try it! Still waiting to see how it handles those constant south Texas breezes at the games. Covers me for shade and about half my husband. :) My daughter reckons it's pretty cool, so I'll enjoy my cool mom status while it lasts. LOLThe blue looks great and the finish seems good. A bit more to carry than my smallest umbrella, but softball moms ... worth a look.

Danny Hurley

She absolutely LOVES this umbrella!

My granddaughter is 2 1/2 and thinks anything pink is wonderful! She absolutely LOVES this umbrella! The pink is as pretty as it looked online -- she's already so excited about it. It's a useful size for me to hold over her too. Now we're just waiting for a rainy day to give it a try.

Kristi Dunn

Looks good as well.

After being disappointed by several little "travel" umbrellas, I wanted one that felt more substantial. This fits the bill. Still compact, but the fabric, frame and handle feel reassuringly solid. Looks good as well. I'd say it's worth spending a bit more rather than getting another flimsy one.

Theodore Goodman

Solid in the hand, sensible size.

For the money you half expect an umbrella to improve your social life...somehow? This one just gets on with being an umbrella. Solid in the hand, sensible size. Not featherweight...fine for regular rain, probably a less necessary thing to carry around in desert weather. Does what I need, anyway.

Adrian Whitehead

I chose the blue umbrella and it is even prettier in person.

I chose the blue umbrella and it is even prettier in person. I wanted it mainly as something to carry for shade, so appearance mattered to me as well as being practical. It isn't the cheapest umbrella, but I felt happy with what I got for the money. The open cover is a useful personal size, not so broad that walking past other people becomes an exercise in steering. It gives me a pleasant patch of shade without being awkward to carry around. The enclosed oval handle is quite different from a traditional curved one and looks neat, with a solid feel when held. I also like being able to fold it down instead of carrying a long parasol about all day.I'm very fond of it. At a lower price I would happily have a few different colours to choose from.

Mackenzie Ashley

It has kept both her and her handbag dry in the rain.

I chose this as my sister's birthday present and she was delighted with it. She liked the simple design, but also that it could go in her larger handbag rather than being another thing to carry. When it's opened there is more coverage than you expect from the folded size. It has kept both her and her handbag dry in the rain. All told I think it was a good choice, and the finish seems better than umbrellas I've paid more for.

Bonnie Knox

Definitely a good find!

I wanted a blue umbrella and spent a while looking before settling on this. Nearly went for a different one, but by the time I'd looked at the total cost I wasn't so keen - that was enough to send me searching again. Glad I did! This looks nice in the pictures, but the blue is even prettier when you have it in front of you. Opens up to a useful size, feels solid, and the button is easy to work. Definitely a good find!

I'm almost wishing it would rain so I can take this out.

I'm almost wishing it would rain so I can take this out. It feels very nicely made, and the shape of the handle is a little different from the usual ones, which I think is cute. I've tried opening it indoors and it all works nicely. There is a bit of a new-material smell at the moment, but I expect that to fade, and it hasn't put me off at all.

Clarence Weiss

It looks very cute in his hands too.

Our child had been asking and asking for an umbrella, so we chose this one. I wasn't convinced it would survive him, as he isn't exactly gentle with his things. We stay with him when he uses it and help with the button, but it has handled regular outings with a four year old surprisingly well. It looks very cute in his hands too.

Kristi Donaldson

This gives her proper shelter and she can leave it in the car ready.

My daughter had an umbrella on her Christmas list and I wondered why she needed one and then it dawned on me. She works full time and the car park at her job isn't covered so she has to walk from the car to the building whatever the weather is doing. This gives her proper shelter and she can leave it in the car ready. Assuming, of course, she remembers to keep it beside her and not buried in the trunk.

Jo Ashley

not quite the shade i expected, still pleased with them.

bought a pair for our wedding photos, we were keeping the umbrellas black. they looked a bit softer than the black on my screen, but we weren't trying to match every last thing exactly...both worked with what we had. not quite the shade i expected, still pleased with them.

Grace Farmer

No complicated fuss, just a nice sturdy umbrella.

Fantastic umbrella for what it costs. Really like it. The canopy gives me good cover and I can hold it down a little when the rain is blowing towards me. No complicated fuss, just a nice sturdy umbrella. Happy with the price as well. I'd recommend it and would certainly buy one again!

Ronald Mahoney

After several months this umbrella is still doing well.

After several months this umbrella is still doing well. I can't put a number on how much cooler it feels underneath, but the shade is a real relief when the sun is strong! In a steady wind there is still quite a pull on it, and the flexible ribs don't make that disappear. The loop is comfortable enough for me, although keeping hold for a long time can be tiring when it's breezy. It suits my normal use and hasn't given me any trouble. If it lasts a couple of years, I'd be happy to buy another.

Meghan Myers

A good looking umbrella that seems built for regular use!

Better coverage than the small umbrella I was using, and I love the look of it. I'd read comments about closing taking some effort, which is fair, but it hasn't bothered me. The canopy gathers up when I press the button; the remaining job is compressing the stem until it catches. I take my time with that rather than trying to do everything in a rush. I also gather the fabric neatly before putting it away, and haven't had anything catch or stick. Overall, an excellent find! Useful in a proper downpour, and the whole thing feels substantial. A good looking umbrella that seems built for regular use!

Tristan Copeland

typical.

- nice size, enough cover but not awkward to carry- opening by button is handy, and another press folds the canopy. you still push the shaft down yourself before putting it away.- used mine roughly once a month for a year, then left it in a cab last week. typical. the frame had held up well throughout that time -- better than the cheap umbrellas I used to buy and give up on. a little heavier in the bag, but not enough to bother me much.I reckon it had plenty more use left if I hadn't managed to lose it.

Mario Huynh

Mislaid my last umbrella (so predictable!

Mislaid my last umbrella (so predictable!) and ended up searching online for another like it. This compact one has been just what I needed - useful size and a comfortable loop handle. I'm tempted to put my name on it so maybe somebody would return it when I inevitably leave it somewhere! Worth buying.

Cristian Harper

I LOVE IT.

The inside looked lighter to me in the photos, but underneath it's black. The gray top is as expected, and there's a bit more room when it's open than I imagined. I LOVE IT. I'm a little cautious with the button mechanism / it seems worth treating gently rather than rushing. I'll look after it because I'd like to keep this umbrella for a long time!

Courtney Hood

Funny enough,I have never owned an umbrella before this one.

Funny enough,I have never owned an umbrella before this one.Rain isn't much of a concern where I am in California. Its put together nicely and measures about 105cm across when open.It pops up with hardly any effort. The price seems fair to me and I wouldn't hesitate to get another.I'm happy with it.I think most people would be too.

Ashlee Mullen

This has been much easier for her to manage.

Bought an umbrella for my daughter's walk between the station and her job. Her old one could be a struggle in the wind, and she especially wanted a button to open and close the canopy. This has been much easier for her to manage. She likes how quickly she can open it on her way out. Not long after getting it she called to tell me how much she loves this one.

Steve Bender

One of the most solid feeling umbrellas I've owned.

One of the most solid feeling umbrellas I've owned. I've been through plenty of cheap ones, and you notice the difference in the way this is put together. The fabric feels good, the ribs have some give and the handle feels substantial. I'd certainly recommend it to anyone tired of flimsy umbrellas.

Hailey Novak

Happy with what I paid and would get it again.

Was walking along in pouring rain with two other people and a gust turned both their umbrellas backwards...this one kept its shape. That told me more than the description did! I'm not saying it could handle absolutely anything, a small umbrella is still a small umbrella and wind can catch you out. But for the wet walks I've had it's felt really solid, with enough coverage that my shoulders aren't dripping. Happy with what I paid and would get it again.

Alexander Kaiser

Excellent for sitting through my sons baseball games.

Excellent for sitting through my sons baseball games. Having some shade over me makes the hot afternoons much more comfortable, I notice it straight away when I step out from under it. The size suits me well and it feels sturdy without being enormous. My younger son can tuck in beside me for a little shade too. I don't feel like I'm taking over the seats around us with it. More people seem to be bringing umbrellas for sunshine now, and mine has had a few nice comments.

Samantha Rose

Rain and gusty days haven't been a problem for mine.

After about six months, I'm still pleased with how it's holding up. Rain and gusty days haven't been a problem for mine. It opens without a struggle and still feels solid after regular use. The construction seems good, with no real signs of wear yet. I expect to get years of use from it.

Colleen Kirby

Folding the shaft down takes a firm push by hand.

I'm training to lead walking tours in Washington, DC, and wanted an umbrella that would be easy for a group to spot. The cream white canopy stands out well and feels nicely supported, while the automatic opening saves fiddling around when rain starts. The loop handle is comfortable, although it doesn't give the reach of a long walking umbrella, so people right at the back may have to look harder. Folding the shaft down takes a firm push by hand. Overall, useful for my tours, with a couple of practical limitations.

Samantha Davila

It took a while to arrive but i like it now it's here!

It took a while to arrive but i like it now it's here! haven't tried it in rain yet, the umbrella seems solid and i love having the sleeve to keep it together when stored. the covers on my previous umbrellas never seemed very useful so i'm hoping this will be nicer to use! looking forward to a wet day to test it and the price was great!

Donna Stokes

Looks every bit as nice as the photo.

Looks every bit as nice as the photo. A few months of regular outings haven't changed that, and the button still works smoothly. It folds neatly enough for my larger purse, so if the forecast looks doubtful I can bring it along without much thought. I'd certainly recommend it.

Julie Clements

The opening button is particularly handy at the car.

We needed to replace a compact umbrella we'd managed to leave behind somewhere. This one is easy enough to pack, though the folded bundle is thicker than some we've had. The frame feels substantial and it has coped nicely with the wind I've used it in, without leaving me short of cover. The opening button is particularly handy at the car. I can crack the driver's door, reach the umbrella outside and open it while I'm still sitting down. Coming back, I collapse the canopy from inside the doorway, then shorten the shaft by hand once I'm seated. Much less juggling in a downpour.

Henry Molina

A pretty good umbrella.

A pretty good umbrella. I'm happy with how it turned up and how solid it seems. The sleeve will probably sit unused, i can never be bothered getting umbrellas neatly back into those things - lol We don't get much rain out here in the desert so it isn't going to have a busy life. Still, it's staying in my car for the times i need one. The green is a really nice color!

Alex Hayden

That was hardly surprising for a folding umbrella.

Only had it out three times, so I can't really speak for years of use. One outing was in pretty unpleasant rain and wind, and it stayed usable throughout. I'm quite tall, so my lower legs still got wet when the rain was coming sideways. That was hardly surprising for a folding umbrella. For keeping the rest of me covered it did very well.

Gary Forbes

The automatic opening works nicely when I try it indoors.

It's been a few months since I ordered this, and it has mostly sat waiting for the weather to give me a reason to use it. Feels solid in the hand, much more substantial than some I've owned. The automatic opening works nicely when I try it indoors. I'm happy with it for far, but living in Los Angeles hasn't given me a chance to judge it in actual rain. Four stars until I can do that, rather than pretend I know how it'll perform. Hopefully I'll be able to add more then.

Audrey Meadows

Not a tiny pocket umbrella.

Try the button a few times at home to get the opening and closing sequence clear. It opens the umbrella and brings the canopy shut again; you then shorten the shaft by hand. That last part is a separate movement, not something the button does. The Cream White canopy has a black underside, so the view from beneath is quite different from the outside. There are visible creases when it first opens. I wondered how neatly all that fabric would fold back down, but it gathers together reasonably well. Overall, it feels substantial without being cumbersome. Folded length is about 40cm. Not a tiny pocket umbrella. The handle forms a closed oval loop, rather than an open hook, and feels comfortable enough in my hand. The shaft telescopes down into the folded umbrella. There are 30 flexible ribs; looking up into it, there is quite a lot of supporting structure. The opening movement is brisk, so I give it space rather than pointing it towards anything. With it overhead, the canopy extends comfortably beyond my shoulders. Enough coverage for me, without carrying a huge umbrella. Good. ---ONE YEAR LATER: It is still in use and has held up well. This isn't something I carry every single day, so that should be taken into account, but it has been opened and folded plenty of times. The button operation has become second nature. I still let it dry open before putting it away, and take a moment to arrange the folds instead of squeezing everything together anyhow. The hand reset of the shaft seemed a little unfamiliar at first; now I don't think about it. I am pleased with it, particularly the useful amount of cover from something that folds down this far.

Claudia Gallegos

That matters more to me than getting the absolute smallest umbrella.

Living in New York means a walk between office buildings can turn into a battle with your umbrella pretty quickly. Around Queens Plaza especially, the gusts seem to come from every direction. I don't like carrying a long umbrella around all day just because rain might be coming. I'd rather tuck one into my work bag, leave it there, and have my hands available when the weather stays clear. The really tiny ones I've tried haven't been much use once the wind picks up. I end up trying to stop the canopy turning over or giving up and walking in the rain, which rather defeats the point. This one has been a much better compromise for me. It isn't something I'd call pocket sized, and it only just squeezes into the bag I take to work, but it does fit. That matters more to me than getting the absolute smallest umbrella. Opened up, there's enough room underneath for me without feeling like I'm carrying half the sidewalk overhead. (Having to dodge those enormous umbrellas when you're already dodging people is not my favourite part of a rainy commute.) I've used it on several wet, gusty walks now and haven't had the canopy turn inside out. It feels more reassuring to use than the little folding ones I had before, and I'm not arriving drenched because I've abandoned the whole idea. I'm glad I went with it and don't feel the need to keep looking for a replacement. Bottom line: manageable in my bag, a sensible size when open, and so far it's coped well with my city commute.

Hector Gentry

This gives me decent coverage without feeling enormous to carry.

My work day involves crossing roads and walking between buildings, so I need something manageable in the rain. This gives me decent coverage without feeling enormous to carry. I can hold it high enough to keep an eye on traffic, which matters more to me than extra width.

Alexander Pratt

Attractive and strong, not just something for show.

For the swimsuit portion of a beauty contest we needed an umbrella prop, and this worked beautifully. Attractive and strong, not just something for show. We were really please with how it completed the young girl's outfit. Everything came together well for the event and it was a successful choice.

Brett Calderon

Probably the most solid folding umbrella I've had.

The way this is put together really appeals to me. There are plenty of flexible ribs, and the opening mechanism feels solid rather than loose. A bit of gusty rain hasn't given it any trouble so far, which is reassuring. I still keep a bigger umbrella for the really miserable weather, but this is the one that lives in my messenger bag. Handy for the rain I wasn't expecting (or when I forgot to look at the forecast). Probably the most solid folding umbrella I've had.

Rebekah Hammond

Opens to a decent size for coverage.

Took this along for a special trip. It has been useful in different weather, both for ordinary rain and for shade when the sun is out. Doesn't take over my carry-on and feels manageable to carry about. Opens to a decent size for coverage. Has also been fine on breezier days.
