Ordered this in a rush and didn't stop to read through reviews or compare lots of umbrellas. Came back to say it was a much better choice than I had any reason to expect. It feels substantial in the hand, opens easily, and gives me enough cover without being awkward on the pavement. I've found it easy to carry around Manhattan and it has handled the breezy days I've used it on. Sometimes a hasty purchase turns out well, and this certainly did. I'd recommend it without hesitation.

This was a gift, and the button opening has been SUCH a help.
School pickup in the rain is awkward enough without balancing an umbrella and a 2yo who wants to be carried while I wait for my kindergartener. This was a gift, and the button opening has been SUCH a help. I can get it open with one hand instead of struggling while holding him. When he stands beside me there's enough cover for the two of us if he stays close. With both kids on the walk to the car, we have to bunch up, but it's still much easier than what I was doing before. It has felt steady on the blustery pickup days we've had, too. Not a giant umbrella, which actually makes it more manageable with little ones. For the daily school run this has been a really useful gift.

After a year of use, I'm glad I chose this umbrella.
After a year of use, I'm glad I chose this umbrella. It has coped well with the rain on my walk to work, including those breezy mornings when holding an umbrella can be more trouble than it's worth. I wouldn't expect it to survive absolutely anything, but I haven't had it turn inside out on me. The ribs have some give to them, which seems more sensible than a frame that feels completely rigid. It also looks good and doesn't feel awkward to carry. Mostly I appreciate being able to get to work dry without spending the whole walk wrestling with it. A worthwhile purchase in my experience.

Who knew a new umbrella could cause so much excitement!
Who knew a new umbrella could cause so much excitement! The parcel arrived quickly and everything inside was well protected. Its outer box was enormous and had taken a knocking, but the packing around the umbrella had done its work and the umbrella itself was fine. I chose it for my tall six year old and was pleased that the open canopy gives him proper coverage rather than feeling like one of those tiny toddler umbrellas. The fabric feels lovely, and the gray looks really smart. He is quite taken with it! It seems carefully put together too, which makes me feel better about him carrying it to school.
Around here the choice always seems to be little children's umbrellas or big awkward ones, so finding something that folds down neatly has been a relief. This has made one little boy very happy. We are on Christmas break at the moment and he is already hoping for a wet school morning so he can take it along! I would happily recommend it. Another thing I appreciate is the oval loop handle, which gives him a comfortable place to hold on without a hooked end sticking out. A very cheerful purchase for this mama <3

Makes such a difference at the games!
Makes such a difference at the games! Our family spends ages watching one sibling or another play baseball, and sitting out in the heat gets old fast. Having this with me means I can make a bit of shade wherever we're sitting. It feels SO much nicer than having the sun straight on me - I still take care in the sun, of course. For anyone doing long stretches on the sidelines, I'd call this a REALLY useful thing to bring along.

The fabric and stitching look like they should last.
The fabric and stitching look like they should last. It's a nice size once it's up, without being huge to carry around. Having a button to open it is handy, and it'll pull the canopy shut too. You still have to shorten the pole yourself, which takes more of a push than I'd prefer. The loop handle is different from what I'm used to, but feels secure once I'm holding it. Folded, it's a thicker bundle than I expected. For what it costs, I'm satisfied, especially since I tend to leave umbrellas behind before I ever wear them out.

No proper rain outing yet, just plenty of indoor umbrella fun.
My two 20 month old girls are fascinated by umbrellas. Got this one and they both want a turn with it...so I've now ordered another!I do the opening for them, then they enjoy holding it while we wander round the apartment building. A few weeks of that and it's still working fine. No proper rain outing yet, just plenty of indoor umbrella fun.

Saw a few comments questioning how sturdy this was.
Saw a few comments questioning how sturdy this was. I'm hardly an umbrella expert, but mine seems reasonably solid. There's decent cover and the button works easily. Haven't had it through much weather yet, so hopefully my girlfriend stays on the ground with it.

Cream White is a lovely understated colour
The construction looks neat, with even seams and no loose threads around the edge. Cream White is a lovely understated colour; attractive without being loud. It is roughly 40cm long when folded, which fits my larger purse, though not my small one. I wanted something I could carry for a little shade, and the open canopy gives me comfortable cover. There is a black underside, so the interior looks quite different from the pale outside. The button action is straightforward and the frame feels reassuringly solid. So far I am delighted with the purchase!

Ordered this for a friend and I'm happy with how it looks.
Ordered this for a friend and I'm happy with how it looks. The canopy gives a good amount of cover, including when the rain isn't falling straight down. Seems well put together. That oval loop is comfortable to hold onto, and the automatic opening is very easy to use.

We haven't tried it in rain yet.
My twin girls are 20 months and fascinated with umbrellas. This one has been a huge attraction around here...both of them want a turn, so I have ordered another! We haven't tried it in rain yet. Mostly we walk around the apartment building with me holding it and the girls underneath, which they think is great fun. So far it seems very well made.

wasn't expecting much at this price, figured it might be one of those flimsy umbrellas. First thing i noticed when I opened it was how substantial the frame felt. The ribs have some flexibility and the canopy is neatly attached around them. haven't had it long but the whole thing gives a better impression than the price would suggest.
Brittany Good
Happy to recommend it.
Honestly, I'm so happy with this umbrella It opens out to a really useful size. With a baby, a handbag and the other things I seem to end up carrying, I need more than a tiny bit of shelter. This keeps us covered without being awkward to take along. The gray is lovely, just as shown. Feels strong rather than flimsy too. Happy to recommend it.

My little preschooler was thrilled to see her umbrella.
My little preschooler was thrilled to see her umbrella. She's been asking when it will rain so she can take it outside. Folded up it is manageable for us to bring along, and I can work the automatic button while she holds the handle. I'll be helping with opening and putting it away, but she's delighted to have her own.

So easy to use, just the size I wanted, and really lovely looking.
So easy to use, just the size I wanted, and really lovely looking. I got it for sitting at my sons sporting events without dragging a huge shade umbrella or a tent along. Tried it on the bench during his baseball game and there was enough shade for me without spreading over everybody else's space. People could still sit nearby, which mattered to me. I like having an umbrella that feels stylish and cheerful instead of just an ordinary dull one. It can come out in the rain too~ but I bought it for personal shade, not because I wanted a parasol. Would recommend it!! Very pleased with the quality and with how straightforward it is to use.

So I gave this compact style a go and so far its been good.
OK, I've tried a few types of umbrellas and got tired of worrying about seams and wind every time I took one out. So I gave this compact style a go and so far its been good. Plenty of room once it's up, doesn't look that big folded. If you want an umbrella for normal everyday rain then I would recommend this "COMPACT" one. It's a gentle looking blue, which I like..
Isaac Bauer
The umbrella itself was a success.
I ordered this as a gift for a friend. It has a distinctive look without being flashy, and opens to a good size. The parcel seemed far bigger than necessary, with a surprising amount of paper inside; rather wasteful, although that's separate from the product. The umbrella itself was a success.
Spencer Williams
Compact, solid and does its job.
I lost an umbrella somebody had kindly lent me, so this was my attempt at making amends. Its new owner is a New York businesswoman who can argue a cab driver into declining her fare. Apparently this one beats every umbrella she's had.Compact, solid and does its job.I seem to be forgiven.
Wayne Gallegos
99 I spent new, I'm really pleased.
Coverage is a little limited, although that's also why it packs down so well, which is what I like most. It goes into a small/medium pocket on my golf bag easily, or I can fasten the loop handle to the side of the bag. The sleeve that comes with it is nice and keeps it covered when I carry it that way. Up to now the button opening and closing of the canopy have worked very well. I'm happy to have it ready for when I need it. For the $9.99 I spent new, I'm really pleased. Not sure I would have wanted to pay more then $20 or $25 for one, though.
Alex Lopez
I found it handy on my trip abroad.
Easy to bring along because it doesn't take up much space.
I found it handy on my trip abroad.
Two people underneath is a squeeze though, so I mostly use it just for myself.
With my backpack moved around to the front it stays drier too. Better to carry it that way than have wet things inside haha.
Amber Dennis
A good umbrella, just not quite the size I wanted.
A good umbrella, just not quite the size I wanted. Even folded it doesn't sit flat where I like to leave it on my car floor, and I find it a little bulky to carry around. That's probably more about my preferences than anything wrong with it. I'm not very tall and could manage with less coverage. If having the smallest possible umbrella isn't important to you, I think you'd be pleased with this one.
Mary Chavez
I'm the one who has some shade when we're waiting around.
A couple of weeks with this umbrella and I'm already wondering why I kept leaving it at home for our golf outings. The first time or two I remembered it when we were already there, which was not terribly useful! Once I actually brought it along, being able to carry my own little patch of shade made walking round with hubby a whole lot nicer. Mostly I watch rather than play, although if we do the couples games again I can see wanting a second one instead of taking turns with this one.
A friend spotted it before I'd even opened it and had a laugh at how pleased I was over an umbrella. Apparently I don't usually get this enthusiastic about something that spends part of its life folded up. Well, let him laugh... I'm the one who has some shade when we're waiting around. =D
Anyway, I tag along on these rounds quite a bit, so something I can hold without feeling like I'm lugging half the golf equipment is a good thing. Hubby's friends joke about him having company out there all the time. I enjoy being there too, I just enjoy it rather more when I don't have to stand in the sun the whole time. It folds small enough that bringing it doesn't feel like another whole production. I did have to figure out where to stand so I wasn't in his way getting to the clubs, but that was me learning, not anything wrong with it.
BTW - I like that the ribs have some flexibility. The button opening is a nice little convenience too, especially when we've stopped and I decide I want the shade again. Haven't had it long enough to make any big statements about rough weather, and I'm certainly not going looking for a storm to try it in.
It is soooo nice having something this simple make the afternoon more comfortable! =D
I looked around before settling on this one, and for me it was worth taking a little time over the choice. I didn't need a huge umbrella that would be awkward to bring along, just one I'd actually remember and use. No grand golfing improvement to report, of course, since I'm still mostly watching... but a much happier spectator!
Andre Atkins
Tried it today in the rain and it kept me dry.
Tried it today in the rain and it kept me dry. Seems more solid than the flimsy rubbish I've had before. There wasn't much wind, so I can't say anything about that yet. It folds down fairly small. The button shuts the canopy, but shortening the pole is still a manual step. Once it's down, the fabric is quite bulky unless you wrap it neatly. That's worth knowing if you're putting it in a bag. We'll see how it lasts. I'd recommend it for everyday use, just wouldn't expect the heft of a much bigger, more expensive umbrella.
Jared James
I don't like buying umbrellas that are practically throwaway.
I don't like buying umbrellas that are practically throwaway. At the same time I don't want some huge expensive thing to lug about and then leave somewhere. This strikes the right balance for me. It isn't tiny enough for a small purse, but goes in my backpack or canvas bag without much fuss. Seems sturdy enough for normal everyday use, which is what I wanted.
Vanessa Baldwin
Kept me dry every time.
Taken it out four times over the last couple of rainy days. Kept me dry every time. Getting it put away from the car seat was a little awkward. The button sends it open, then another press folds the canopy. You still need to push the shaft down yourself, which takes a firm push. Easier once I knew what to expect.
Jeremiah Rush
Havent tried it in rain yet.
The quality seems higher than the price suggests, almost fancy. Havent tried it in rain yet. Open size looks enough for two if close, i think. The oval loop is useful to clip onto my tote,, or backpack. Pushing the shaft Back down by hand takes effort so that feels solid.
Andrew Mccann
I've wanted a decent umbrella for ages.
I've wanted a decent umbrella for ages. Seattle gives me plenty of reason to carry one, and being short I find it easy to block my own view. With this one I can hold it a little higher and see where I'm going without losing cover over my shoulders. Now if we could only get a stretch of sunshine instead of all this rain. It's still a bit long when folded for someone my size, but that's something I can put up with.
Joe Myers
Would recommend it.
Here in northern California we're having another wet windy day. Already been out several times and mine is doing very well. Not the first outing either, it's had San Francisco rain, Midwest showers and those damp London days this year. All I need is something that holds up and keeps me dry, and that's exactly what this has done.Would recommend it.
Lynn Henson
The sleeve is a decent fit as well.
I'd pictured something a little heavier in the frame, perhaps, although it feels a step up from the usual compact umbrellas I've had. Can't explain the difference exactly, but it has coped nicely with wind so far rather than feeling as if it wants to turn inside out. The button opens it and folds the canopy neatly. You still have to shorten the stem by hand before putting it away, which is normal. The sleeve is a decent fit as well.
Troy Baxter
The weight is noticeable without being a nuisance.
I wasn't sure what to expect for the size or build when I ordered this. Having it in my hand was reassuring. The frame feels substantial and the oval loop handle is comfortable for me to hold. The open canopy is about 105cm across, so it is a sensible personal umbrella rather than one of those enormous golf ones. I'm tall and wanted useful coverage, but also something that wasn't awkward to carry once the rain stopped. At about 40cm folded it goes in my bag, though I wouldn't call it tiny. The weight is noticeable without being a nuisance. The push button opening was important to me. Getting out of a car with things in your other hand is exactly when you don't want to wrestle with an umbrella. It opens promptly, and a second press folds the canopy. You then compress the shaft yourself before putting it away. That part is straightforward once you know what to expect. I also liked having a choice of colours. The blue is a good everyday choice for me, and looks suitable to take along for business without being flashy.

this is a nice little umbrella for a girl who likes her accessories!
Ive seen people saying umbrellas wont stand up to everything. Well obviously! Their umbrellas not magic, and kids dont always treat things gently. My daugter likes using this for dressing up as well as having it for rain. The frame seems pretty strong and the cloth is decent, not something Id expect to be indestructible though. Its fairly plain looking but thats fine by us for the money.this is a nice little umbrella for a girl who likes her accessories!
Ricky Hanna
It seems quite tough and looks smart rather than fussy.
Some of the comments made us hesitate, but we preferred this simple style and went ahead. Our son loves it - he keeps wanting to carry it about, even indoors. It seems quite tough and looks smart rather than fussy. The closed loop handle is a nice feature too - funny how excited a little one can get over having an umbrella of his own.
Yolanda Ritter
It's such a cheerful looking umbrella!
It rains a lot where I live so I wanted something cute that didn't feel disposable and this has been wonderful! It's bigger opened out than I expected, enough to keep me and my backpack covered walking around town :)Even had a bus driver give me a thumbs up while I was crossing the road, which made me laugh. It's such a cheerful looking umbrella! I've carried it quite a lot already with no trouble. Fabric feels substantial and when I press the opening button it comes up firmly, not in a loose, flimsy sort of way.
Anthony Holmes
Ridiculously cute!
Ridiculously cute! I'm not usually an umbrella person, but I kept looking at this one and finally gave in. Went with pink and it's every bit as pretty as I'd hoped. Feels nicely made too, not just something to look at. Now I'm wondering whether to hang it somewhere at home or make it my everyday sun umbrella. It's funny how a thing can have you inventing reasons to carry it, like "Perhaps I need some shade on the way down the grocery aisle...," just so everyone gets a look at it.
Todd Becker
The quality seems excellent.
Folds down neatly and slips into my larger handbag without much trouble. It is heavier than the tiny umbrellas, but that's really the only thing I can fault. The quality seems excellent. The carry sleeve keeps it tidy when it's put away, nothing elaborate but useful. A very worthwhile buy and I'm pleased I chose it.
Denise Bruce
This has been a lovely umbrella to use.
This has been a lovely umbrella to use. It opens out to a generous size, enough for us to share if we keep close. We went for a walk the day after it arrived and the rain really started halfway round. We both stayed comfortably dry under it, which was a good first test. I haven't tried it for shade yet but can certainly see myself using it that way too. Feels strong and the gray is a nice, simple colour. For the way it worked on that wet walk I can't think of anything to mark it down for. Really pleased!

) The handle shape doesn't really change that for me.
I ordered two for walking the dog, hoping I could keep myself dry & get him under the edge when needed. In practice they spend more time in the closet than I expected. It isn't an enormous umbrella, but the weight still bothers my wrists and forearms when I'm holding it up for a whole walk. I have tendinitis, which probably explains some of it. (I'm fairly active otherwise, so this isn't me saying I can't carry anything heavier than a tissue!) The handle shape doesn't really change that for me. It opens easily and the canopy does keep rain off, so there is nothing wrong with it as an umbrella. Just not the easy dog-walking option I thought I'd found. I should have paid more attention to the weight instead of assuming that compact automatically meant comfortable for me.
Amanda Whitehead
I included this with my grown daughter's birthday presents
I included this with my grown daughter's birthday presents; she notices attractive things and was delighted with how the umbrella looked. I have only given four stars because I haven't actually asked her about using it in the rain, so my impression is mainly from seeing it and hearing her reaction.
Judith Rosales
great umbrella and I'm thinking of getting her another!
THIS IS WHY I LIKE FINDING THINGS ONLINE.My mother had wanted an umbrella like this for ages, but the shop prices kept putting her off. I told her I'd look around for her and found this one at a price I was happy with. No need to spend what she'd been seeing in the shops. It feels good quality too, so it wasn't just about saving money.great umbrella and I'm thinking of getting her another!
Andres West
The umbrella itself is sturdy and just what I wanted.
Arrived in a surprisingly big box after only a couple of days. The umbrella itself is sturdy and just what I wanted. I don't care for bulky umbrellas, but still wanted decent coverage, and this blue one gets that balance right. It covers me and my bag, with room to squeeze someone close beside me. The button opening is a lovely extra.
Kevin Hoover
It arrived as described, no surprises.
It arrived as described, no surprises. The sleeve is useful, and the umbrella sits neatly in my car door ready for the next shower. Nothing complicated about using it. I've found it dependable in ordinary rain, though I haven't tried taking it into any extreme weather and can't speak for that. In a steady shower it does what I need. An umbrella isn't a promise that your shoes and every inch of you will stay dry, it just makes the wet walk a lot less wet. I'd buy another when my spare eventually wears out.
Alejandra Hall
Very tidy finish on this umbrella!
Very tidy finish on this umbrella!
I have not tried it in strong winds so far, but looking at the frame beside ones I had before, it gives me more confidence for lasting.
What was described is there in practice - cream white outside, black underneath, button for opening and drawing the canopy closed. All neatly arranged.
The quality was a pleasant surprise for me and I hope for a long service from it.
Mckenzie Morrison
Easy enough.
Needed airing! It had that new-material smell at first, so we left it open for a day or two and that settled it. Button to open, button to collapse the canopy, then push the pole down. Easy enough. But he discovered the thing with umbrellas- you're still using a hand just to carry one. He wants to be pulling his wagon and finding worms when it rains, not holding an umbrella over himself. So i end up carrying it. He likes it, just doesn't want the carrying part.
Jessica Adams
This one does a very good job.
Folded it's about 40cm long -- compact, but fairly thick around. Short and chunky... don't expect it to disappear in a purse without taking some space. Mine rides in the bottle sleeve on my photography belt, and gets regular use out in Big Cypress preserve in South Florida. Summer out there gives an umbrella plenty of opportunity to prove whether it's any use for shade. This one does a very good job. I've also had to push through some thick growth with it now and then, and so far it's proved sturdy enough for that.
Dylan Cherry
I love it.
I compared several umbrellas and read plenty of reviews before ordering. This one drew my attention, especially it's loop handle and the way it packs down. One review made it sound very practical, and I understood why when it arrived. The handle gives me a secure hold, while the canopy has enough width to keep my head and shoulders out of the rain. I can stand comfortably beneath it rather than squeezing myself under a tiny cover. The automatic opening is convenient too. I love it. Bring on a rainy day, I'm ready for one.

My old car umbrella finally wore out after years, so this was its replacement. The price looked reasonable and I liked being able to fold it down rather than store a long umbrella. Gives me enough cover in the rain and the automatic opening is a treat!Feels like a very good buy, and it's already earned its spot in the car.
Ralph Roth
For now I'm happy having it there without much fuss.
I wanted an umbrella I could put in my handbag instead of carrying separately, and this one fits my larger bag fine. It isn't quite as small as I'd imagined, but that's not a big problem. I've only had it out a couple of times so I don't know yet how it will last - I can come back to this if anything changes. For now I'm happy having it there without much fuss.
Sherry Guerrero
At last some rain to try this out in.
At last some rain to try this out in. I've usually made do with the little umbrellas picked up at the grocery store, and expected much the same. Walking through NYC this time, I actually stayed dry. There was enough wind to make things unpleasant too, but this felt steady in my hand. The umbrella seemed less bothered by the weather than I was! Very glad I spent the money on a better one.
Roy Maddox
Other than that its done a good job in rain and breezy weather too.
Its good for shade when I'm outside alot, and it feels cooler underneath. A bit on the heavy side though, and I would prefer a hook for hanging it over my arm rather than the loop handle. Other than that its done a good job in rain and breezy weather too. Happy with it, especially for being out in the sun.
Jenna Jones
Looks good and does its proper job.
Looks good and does its proper job. I had grand ideas about pole vaulting after a few drinks, but fortunately common sense arrived first. It's a bit hefty to carry around all day. To sum it up: useful umbrella, provided the idiot holding it remembers what it is actually for.
