it gives me something solid to hold.

The button is quick for opening AND drawing the canopy closed. Although it folds down to about 40cm, the open canopy is roughly 105cm across, so there is useful coverage. The flexible frame has dealt well with the windy rain I've encountered around buildings. I like the oval loop grip; it gives me something solid to hold. Folded up, it can go in a gym bag, briefcase or a fairly large purse.

Walking every day means I don't get to avoid the weather.

Walking every day means I don't get to avoid the weather. I used to just put up with getting damp, but arriving at work soaked was getting old. This has made those rainy walks much nicer, I should have stopped being stubborn sooner. It covers me well and hasn't felt flimsy when the wind gets up. Being able to fold it into my shoulder bag was the main reason I picked it.It also goes in the car door when I'm not carrying it. Everything has worked as it should so far. Would choose the same one again if I ever needed to.

It also comes with a sleeve for putting it away.

The coverage is hard to judge from a photo but it feels a good size when you're actually standing under it. First tried it just after a thunderstorm when it was hot and sticky out, the rain hadn't done much about the humidity. I hadn't used an umbrella for shade before and was half expecting it to feel all steamy underneath. That wasn't the case at all, having the sun off me was quite comfortable. The two kids could tuck in close beside me too, although mainly I'll be using it for myself. It also comes with a sleeve for putting it away.

Mine kept me dry and didn't give me that trouble.

Funny timing. A day after it arrived, I was walking with a friend in wind and rain. His umbrella went inside out and he spent ages trying to sort it, which was rather funny to watch. Mine kept me dry and didn't give me that trouble. Eventually he folded his up and just walked through the rain. I was quite glad of my choice.

definitely recommend.

we've had a lot of wet weather and walking the dog with an umbrella was getting to be a nuisance. This one is much easier to manage, not wrestling it every time a breeze picks up & enough cover that I come home reasonably dry on longer walks. definitely recommend. I'm on my second because my dad decided the first was his (apparently!). feels well put together and the button is handy when the other hand has the lead.

I used to treat umbrellas as things you were bound to lose.

I used to treat umbrellas as things you were bound to lose. The cheap flimsy ones never lasted, so leaving one behind didn't seem worth worrying about. This one has changed that a bit. I notice where I set it down and actually remember to pick it up, because I like using it. The black is just right, and it's something I'd happily give my girlfriend as a gift as well.

There was some wind and it managed well.

First outing with it today and I liked it very much. The canopy material is good and the central shaft feels solid in the hand. Support ribs are evenly arranged. There was some wind and it managed well. For myself I would prefer the handle a little longer, just for more room. Apart from that, satisfied, the quality for the money is excellent.

What else can I say?

Being a grandma means I can buy my little darling an umbrella just because I feel like it. I picked beige because that's the colour she likes, and she was delighted. Nothing fancy needed to make her happy, just an umbrella of her own in her favourite colour. What else can I say? She's THRILLED!

Samantha Chaney

Happy to recommend it.

I wasn't sure when reading the description if this was meant for rain as well as shade. Having tried it, it does both jobs nicely. The canopy covers me well and the frame seems very solid. It also comes with a useful sleeve to put it away in. The loop handle is comfortable, and the whole thing seems thoughtfully made. Happy to recommend it. Lovely.

Our grandson is not an easy one to buy presents for.

Our grandson is not an easy one to buy presents for. When his mother suggested an umbrella we had a laugh, not the sort of thing we'd have guessed a teenager wanted. He's a good kid, just has his own "different" taste, so we thought why not. What a success!! He keeps it in the supplied sleeve and takes it along everywhere. At last, a present we didn't have to wonder whether he'd use!

a small everyday thing that makes going out feel nicer.

beige gives this otherwise everyday object a surprisingly gentle charm. the shade is warmer and prettier in person than i expected from the picture. there is something lovely about taking a little calm out into a damp day, while having a perfectly useful umbrella over your head. it earns its place for the pleasure of using it as much as the practical side. a small everyday thing that makes going out feel nicer.

The green replaced an old umbrella I'd had for years.

The green replaced an old umbrella I'd had for years. I'm a little puzzled by complaints about the folded size. It's not the sort you could tuck into a tiny handbag, but it isn't huge for a compact either, just a fairly normal size to me. Everything works smoothly and the frame feels reassuringly solid. I find the green cheerful in gloomy weather, without being too loud. The sleeve is handy too; I haven't had to wrestle with it to put the umbrella away. For what it cost, I think it's a sensible buy and have no complaints so far.

Definitely worth five stars!

I couldn't wait to give this a try and had it open in the driveway almost as soon as it arrived. The black looks very smart, and I like having the whole thing one colour. I pressed the button several times just to see how it worked. At first I wasn't quite sure what to do once the canopy folded in. You still have to push the shaft back down yourself, then it is ready for the next use. Once I understood that, there wasn't anything difficult about it. Fortunately we've had some wet weather since, so this hasn't just been sitting indoors looking nice. I've carried it a couple of times now and there is a good amount of room underneath. My purse stays beside me under the cover, and I can manage a shopping bag too. The walk across the grocery store parking lot is much nicer without trying to hurry along getting soaked. What I particularly like is putting it away afterward. It folds down into something I can carry rather than having a long umbrella to find space for. The loop handle is a different shape from my old umbrella but comfortable to hold. I had thrown out an old big black one some months ago and had been missing it. This fills that gap without being so bulky. Plain black suits me fine, and I'm glad I have an umbrella ready for the rain again. Definitely worth five stars!

Not perfect comfort, but love is there.

Pretty on the outside. Opens with button. To finish closing I press the stem down. Handle not the most comfortable for me. A tight fit in the carrying cover. But of the two I was choosing, kept this one for myself. No regret of buying. My favourite umbrella. Not perfect comfort, but love is there.

Overall a good Umbrella, gives enough cover to stay dry and doesn't feel flimsy when a breeze comes along. My one complaint is getting the fabric wrapped neatly afterward, takes me a little fiddling. But it opens without a struggle and I would tell people it's worth buying.

Jason Farmer

Solid umbrella, unfortunately that doesn't stop you leaving it behind.

Covered me well, and a friend could squeeze under too. Solid umbrella, unfortunately that doesn't stop you leaving it behind. Had it about a year and took it to Hawaii twice, handy for shade by the water. Left it in an airport shop and only remembered after boarding. Apparently it wanted a longer holiday than I did. I'll be buying another.

Maurice Hayden

A good umbrella overall, just not quite a perfect one.

I've been using this umbrella for a little more than four years. It has done a good job through the rain and windy days in my city. My main reservation is the bulk when it is folded. On a crowded bus I need to keep it fairly close rather than just tuck it anywhere. It isn't enormous, but I notice it more than I expected from something described as compact. The button is convenient and it still feels solid after all that use. A good umbrella overall, just not quite a perfect one.

Bryce Houston

The button opening is a nice touch too.

Settled on this umbrella for my 4 year old son after looking at a few different ones. What a lovely surprise - he thinks it looks so grown up. The black is smart, and it isn't awkward for him to hold while we're together. The button opening is a nice touch too. Such a good choice!! It feels much more substantial in person than I expected from the pictures. Very happy with it and would suggest it to anyone wanting a nice umbrella for their little boy.

Audrey Conrad

That oval handle is a nice touch.

The beige is lovely, makes even a wet day feel a little nicer - and the dark underside looks smart with it. That oval handle is a nice touch. Gives me room for my backpack as well without being a nuisance to carry. The button action is smooth for opening and closing the canopy. Delighted with it and tempted by another. :)

Victoria Contreras

Arrived promptly.

Arrived promptly. Packs down well enough for my backpack and the button makes getting it open easy. Too soon to say much about long term wear (only just unwrapped it)but the construction feels promising. Hoping that spending a little more on one decent umbrella means less money on replacements.

Cathy Marks

Right out of the packaging it had a solid feel.

I seem to go through umbrellas, but this one feels a step above the others. Right out of the packaging it had a solid feel. I spend a lot of time going from my car into stores, so opening it and closing the canopy by button is a big help. No turning inside out in the wind so far either. I'm happy with the quality overall - would probably choose the same one again.

Earl Gay

The oval handle gives a decent grip when I stop and put it up.

Reasonably priced and quite solid, this stays in my bicycle pack in case a shower catches me out. The oval handle gives a decent grip when I stop and put it up. It does take a little space in the bag, but I would sooner carry something useful than a tiny umbrella that barely covers me. A practical compromise for my needs.

Todd Hamilton

Works well, does what I wanted.

Works well, does what I wanted. My one thought is that even this size can feel a little wide on busy sidewalks. I live and work in Manhattan, and i was fed up with trying to pass other umbrellas on narrow stretches, so wanted something smaller to carry. For me it's roomy, but sharing with another person would be a squeeze. The open width is about 105cm, which is worth checking rather than judging just from the folded size. It folds down nicely for carrying, though. Overall i am happy with my choice!

Cole Underwood

Handy size for my purse and not too much weight!

Handy size for my purse and not too much weight! It has stayed upright in the gusts I've been caught in, which I appreciate. Went for black, and the oval handle helps me pick it out when several umbrellas are sitting by the door at a restaurant or somebody's house.

Gene Yoder

absolutely worth what I paid!!!!

needed an umbrella and the price was right when I found this. a coworker has already commented on the pink, but I love it! we've had some miserable rain lately and you aren't staying completely dry in that. Still, this has kept the worst off me and it is easy to open when I need it. another thing , which sounds silly, is how much I like the oval loop..took me a while to appreciate it. easier for me to get a good hold than a little straight handle. folds away nicely afterwards too. absolutely worth what I paid!!!!

Gene Gentry

I like the way this sits in my hand.

I like the way this sits in my hand. The loop handle gives me somewhere secure to hold it without having to squeeze quite so tightly. When it is folded, it feels reasonably solid, although I am treating it as an umbrella rather than something to lean on. The button action is quick and smooth. Closing the canopy is one step, pushing the shaft back in by hand is another, and I have found it easier now that I know what to expect. In rain it has done the straightforward job I wanted from it, keeping the water off my head and shoulders. My small reservation is packing it away neatly. If I rush, the folds look rather untidy and the bundle is bulkier than it needs to be, so I spend a moment arranging them first. All considered, it has made a good impression. I haven't had it long enough to comment on a full winter or long term wear, but I may add to this once I have.

Jacqueline Santos

I Ordered a pair of these and they arrived without any fuss.

I Ordered a pair of these and they arrived without any fuss. Both have been used a few times and work well. My one disappointment was the green, which looks different in person than it did on my screen. Maybe that is just the photo or my display. Not quite the shade I was expecting but they're useful Umbrellas anyway, so I'm keeping them.

Tracy Wu

A smart look for a miserable day!

A smart look for a miserable day! If plain black is your thing, this umbrella should suit you. Having a decent canopy overhead makes heading out in the rain much less of a chore. It looks good without drawing attention, and keeps me dry as well. Practical and stylish. Isn't that what an umbrella ought to be!Pros: Neat appearance; Good coverageCons: Button opening is effortless but pressing the shaft back down takes some muscle

Walking the golf course is a lot nicer with some shade over me.

Walking the golf course is a lot nicer with some shade over me. I hold this as I go and don't feel quite so worn out in the sun. Another golfer let me stand under his umbrella for a minute and that was what convinced me to get one. Thanks for pointing me toward it! A grateful walking golfer

Nice to have a choice again.

For years I used automatic folding umbrellas, then went over to the long, more substantial sort because I wanted better coverage and a sturdier frame. Those big umbrellas are fine, but they are a lot to carry. I decided to try this compact one as another option, rather than a replacement for everything else. It gives a useful amount of shelter and feels reassuringly built, yet is much easier to take along than my big ones. Nice to have a choice again. I'd recommend it.

Umbrella itself is good, the delivery was the problem.

Umbrella itself is good, the delivery was the problem. Took over 3weeks and they kept marking me absent when i had stayed home for it. Would be better if the driver let the person know they have arrived, or checked for instruction instead of leaving again. A lot of waiting around for nothing.

The construction and opening mechanism have both held up well.

The construction and opening mechanism have both held up well. I've spent more on umbrellas that felt much less steady when the wind picked up. After the rough weather we've had this year, I still can't see any obvious wear and it operates just as smoothly. The weather can change its mind all it likes, but so far this has been a dependable umbrella to have with me.

Gene Hester

Very pleased.

One granddaughter wanted a plain umbrella she could keep in her book bag for waiting at the bus stop. Nothing bright or fussy, she was quite clear about that. Her mother had looked around without finding what she wanted. I happened to spot this while getting a few other things and showed her the black one. It fits in her bag and she likes it, which was the main thing. She had it ready for the next wet morning. Very pleased.

Anita Chung

The handle was the first part I noticed.

After too many flimsy umbrellas, I wanted one that felt like it was worth keeping. This one gives me that feeling. The whole thing feels solid when folded, rather than loose and rattly, and the finish is nicely understated. The handle was the first part I noticed. That closed oval shape gives me a secure grip without feeling awkward in my hand. Press the button and it opens promptly; another press draws the canopy together, then the shaft needs pushing back in by hand. Once I'd done it a couple of times, that was straightforward. Outside, it has felt steady in the gusts I've encountered and I haven't had it flip inside out. I still keep a proper hold on it when the wind picks up, since any umbrella can catch the air. There's enough cover for me without struggling to move along a pavement. Folded up it goes in my briefcase, which is a big reason I wanted a compact in the first place.I'm hoping I won't be umbrella shopping again for a long while!

A very happy birthday girl, and we're happy with the quality too.

We gave our four-year-old daughter this umbrella for her birthday and she loves it! She has wanted it opened and closed over and over--we help her push the shaft back in after the canopy shuts. It still feels sturdy despite all that experimenting. There's plenty of cover for her, and it folds away neatly when she's finished with it. A very happy birthday girl, and we're happy with the quality too.

Brittney Carey

What a GREAT little buy!

I hesitated over the price, but my son had been wanting an umbrella of his own so badly that I went ahead with it. What a GREAT little buy! The oval loop handle is cute, and the whole thing seems nice and sturdy. He is delighted to have his own now, and I don't regret spending the extra. Completely happy! :-)

Joel Sandoval

Mechanically, there is a lot I like about this umbrella.

Mechanically, there is a lot I like about this umbrella. The thirty flexible ribs give the canopy good support without the frame feeling completely rigid, and the fabric seems more substantial than on the cheap umbrella's I've had. Closed, it is compact enough to carry around easily, and the automatic canopy closing is genuinely useful. I also like the secure feel of the oval loop handle. It does still need a bit of care in gusty weather. The edge can be pushed inward and let some rain reach you, although it doesn't happen all the time. I would prefer a touch more resistance there so I didn't have to keep adjusting the angle. Overall I think the engineering is good, just not quite as effortless to use in wind as I'd hoped.

Kelly Best

Chose the black and love how it looks!

Chose the black and love how it looks! It folds down without feeling ridiculously tiny, then opens to give me proper coverage, even with my backpack. The automatic part is great for getting the canopy open or gathered quickly. Compressing the shaft afterwards needs a fairly firm push, which can be awkward sometimes. That's my only niggle, otherwise I'd definitely suggest giving this one a go.

Martin Spencer

My 2 year old is absolutely taken with this umbrella!

My 2 year old is absolutely taken with this umbrella! She likes holding it, although I do the button and folding part for her. It's manageable for carrying along and the sleeve is useful for keeping it neatly together when we're not using it. Nice to have something she actually wants to take out in the rain. Very happy with it, I'd happily choose it again!

Gary Butler

About 40cm folded, so there's no trouble finding somewhere to keep it.

My older umbrella has had about five years of regular use and I keep it for golf now. Picked up two more, one to leave in my car and one for my wife's car.For a folding umbrella it opens out to a really useful size, much more cover than you'd expect looking at it packed away. About 40cm folded, so there's no trouble finding somewhere to keep it. It covers me comfortably and two can squeeze under if the rain isn't blowing sideways. The black looks tidy too, and people have commented on how smart it is.

Jackson Cowan

I love this unbrella.

I love this unbrella. The cream white looks so pretty, and there's enough canopy over me that I'm not forever trying to tuck my shoulders in. It's not a see-through style, so I hold it a little higher to watch where I'm walking. Makes me wonder why I put up with such tiny umbrellas before -- this is much more useful. The only thing is the weight gets noticeable after a long walk in the rain, especially when I'm trying to keep a steady grip.

Vernon Roman

She seems pleased with it.

My granddaughter needed something she could leave in her school bag for waiting at the bus stop. She was quite definite that it couldn't be anything showy. Her mum had looked around without finding one she liked, so when I spotted this I let her have a look before ordering. The plain design suited her and it folds down enough to go in her bag. It's nice to have that sorted rather than have her standing there getting soaked. She seems pleased with it.

Ricky Ali

My first impression of the materials and build is very good, though.

To be fair, it only arrived last week, so I haven't given it much use yet. My first impression of the materials and build is very good, though. A press of the button opens it promptly, and there's a generous amount of canopy over you when standing beneath the centre.

Francisco Atkins

Button operation gives automatic opening and canopy closing.

A blue canopy, black underneath, with 30 flexible ribs supporting the fabric. Button operation gives automatic opening and canopy closing. The handle has a closed oval loop shape ⭕, and the folded umbrella stores in the supplied sleeve. A handsome everyday accessory, with a clean appearance and a price that seems quite reasonable.

Stuart Sandoval

The blue looks very nice, which was my main reason for choosing it.

The blue looks very nice, which was my main reason for choosing it. On that part I am satisfied. There was a slight smell when first opened. I left it by an open window that evening and it was much less noticeable. Good! Now having used it in our usual wet weather with gusts, my opinion is this is fairly average umbrella. Not something I would expect to fight all the wind with, but honestly I am not sure what small umbrella could. I kept the top facing into the gusts rather than letting them catch underneath. That seemed the sensible way and it stayed the right way round. Nothing damaged, and it kept me dry, so overall I think it is fair for the money.

Jeanne Barr

No struggling to get it spread out.

It takes up surprisingly little space in my laptop bag but gives me enough shelter when I'm out in the rain. The sleeve comes off, I undo the fastening and one press sends it straight up, WHOOSH! No struggling to get it spread out.At a doorway another press makes the top fold itself away, SNAP! I can give it a quick shake before going in. You still have to shorten the telescoping shaft yourself afterwards, which is simple enough, and then it's ready to stash back in the bag for next time.

Kayla Oconnell

OMG it needed to air out when it arrived!

OMG it needed to air out when it arrived! I left it open for a couple of days and that took care of the smell. Good now. Packing it down is still a bit of a fiddle, mostly getting the fabric neat after pressing the button and pushing the shaft down. Not as quick as I'd hoped with a child waiting. My little 3 year old is thrilled with it though. We hold it together since it's not a tiny toddler umbrella, and the coverage is great once we're under it.

April Bryan

Very pleased with the replacement and I would certainly recommend it.

The blue reminded me of my university colours, which is what first caught my attention. I wasn't certain about the quality, but it feels as well made as the umbrella I was replacing after nearly thirty years of use. Very pleased with the replacement and I would certainly recommend it.

Alec Bautista

This was a Christmas present and I absolutely love it.

This was a Christmas present and I absolutely love it. The gray looks elegant and the fabric has a lovely substantial feel. Everything was in good shape when I opened it, and the button works smoothly. Makes the prospect of a rainy day a little more appealing! A very happy recipient

Angela Randall

turned out to be more useful than a joke...

we were talking about the big umbrellas we used to carry so i ended up giving this black one to a co-worker as a joke gift. she kept it in her car, went out there on her break & the rain started so out came the umbrella for the walk back to work. turned out to be more useful than a joke...plenty big when opened lol
