Handles the gusts I've encountered in Chicago well.
Handles the gusts I've encountered in Chicago well. The button pulls the canopy shut quickly, which is handy when I'm getting into the car rather than wrestling with wet fabric. Keeps me dry on the way there and fits neatly in the car's door storage afterwards.

In the end I gave this a try.
This isn't the fanciest umbrella I've handled, but it gets the job done. I'd been making do with a very small one for a while and kept putting off choosing something else. In the end I gave this a try. The fabric feels a little thinner than I expected, though it has kept the rain off just fine. There's enough room for me without trying to huddle underneath it, and it folds away reasonably neatly. It isn't what I'd call pocket sized, so bear that in mind if you're after something tiny.Quick note about the button, it closes the canopy, then you push the shaft back down yourself. That's normal, just not quite the whole job done for you. I'd recommend it for someone wanting a straightforward everyday umbrella rather than anything fancy.
Jordan Stokes
Even the box was nice.
Light enough to carry, smart looking and gives good cover from the rain. What else do I need? I've used it long enough now to be comfortable with the quality, and it's still looking good. I'd happily get the same one again if I mislaid it. Even the box was nice.

Over time I've worked out what I actually need from an umbrella.
Over time I've worked out what I actually need from an umbrella.1) a button to fold the canopy2) a sensible price3) reasonable cover without a huge thing to carry. This one covers me comfortably, but I wouldn't plan on sharing it with another adult. Standing closer doesn't suddenly make the canopy bigger. Folded up it's fine for my bag, although my attempts at rolling it neatly never look quite like it did fresh from the packaging. The price matters because I'm very good at leaving umbrellas on buses and at other people's houses. An expensive one going missing is painful; this is less of a worry. The button is particularly useful getting into a car or through a doorway. It gathers the fabric in, then you push the shaft down to reset it. That's been straightforward.Durability wise, mine has had over two years of use and hasn't given me any trouble. Nothing fancy to explain there, it has just been a useful everyday umbrella.

Apparently rain needs to hurry up!
We used these for the base of jellyfish costumes for a group of seven year old girls. Nicely made, and they held their shape well for the whole thing. My daughter loved hers as part of the costume, but has already decided she wants one to use as a normal umbrella too. Apparently rain needs to hurry up!
Jean Morse
It's light enough for me and easy to open when we want some shade.
Bought it to hold while the kids play at their sandbox in the backyard. It's light enough for me and easy to open when we want some shade. Haven't tried it in much wind, so can't comment there. For sitting beside the sand table and keeping the sun off, I'm pleased with it.

Holding up nicely so far.
Holding up nicely so far. Cute umbrella, easy to get open, and my son has managed to keep it in one piece! It feels decent rather than flimsy.UPDATE: A couple of months later it's still doing well. Spring here means a lot of wet days, and my five year old isn't exactly gentle with things, so it hasn't been sitting unused. No complaints from us.
Carlos Fitzgerald
More than enough for me, and no shoulders poking out into the rain.
I was mainly checking the price and folded size, not thinking much about how wide it would be open. There is a LOT of cover hiding in that compact shape. More than enough for me, and no shoulders poking out into the rain. The frame looks pretty well put together too.
Paula Knapp
So far I'm happy I chose this one.
My previous umbrella was a little bigger, so I wondered how this would compare. There's still room to keep me and my dog covered, which is what I needed. A press of the button opens it without a struggle. Pressing again gathers the canopy, then I compress the telescoping part by hand to put it away. Quite straightforward. The handle feels smooth and sits comfortably in my hand. So far I'm happy I chose this one. Hopefully it will give me the same long service as the old umbrella I finally had to throw out!
Joyce Carr
The gray looks smart and she love the loop handle too.
My mother got this as her Christmas present after her previous umbrella wouldn't work. She is delighted with this one. The gray looks smart and she love the loop handle too. Her old umbrella had let her down during some horrible holiday rain, so having this one work when she needs it makes a difference. She has been recommending it to others.
Jimmy Buck
It feels nicely made too.
At last an umbrella with enough cover to keep my shoulders dry, the ones i've had before always seemed skimpy. It feels nicely made too. My one niggle is the loop handle, I would prefer a bit more room to hold it comfortably, but overall it has been a good buy.
Crystal Wade
For everyday use just for me, its been great and I'm happy with it.
Feels like a well made umbrella, i like having that oval handle to hold onto. I thought there might be more room for two people though. On my own its a good size, sharing it with my spouse gets a little crowded. For everyday use just for me, its been great and I'm happy with it.
Antonio Barrera
I'm enjoying this umbrella a lot.
I'm enjoying this umbrella a lot. Rain isn't really why I carry it,it's mostly for a bit of shade from the desert sun. Construction seems good, and the button is easy to work.I'd read comments about it feeling heavy and awkward to hold, but that hasn't been my experience. I can carry it comfortably and don't find the weight a bother.

I've wanted a handy umbrella like this for ages.
I've wanted a handy umbrella like this for ages. Living in rainy Seattle and being short, I have to watch how I hold an umbrella or I can't see people coming. With this one held a little higher I can see ahead and still keep my shoulders dry. Small victories. Now if the rain would take a break and let summer get started. It is a little long beside me when folded, but nothing I can't manage.
Stephen Walter
I would recommend this one.
My beige Haven umbrella arrived in good shape and I used it the following day. I nearly left it at home because there was rain and quite a lot of wind. I'm glad I took it after all. It was a good chance to see whether it was any use and it did the job well. There are plenty of ribs underneath, the frame looks as if it has some support instead of just a few thin pieces. It has made me think about getting another. Not the cheapest sort of umbrella, but I think the extra money was worthwhile. I would recommend this one. Five stars from me.
Kirsten Rogers
Haven has made a GREAT umbrella here!
Haven has made a GREAT umbrella here! Feels sturdy and mine has stayed steady when it's breezy. The closed oval handle is the part I particularly appreciate. Gives my fingers something secure to grip, and when the rain stops I can carry it by the loop with my other things. A very satisfying umbrella to use. Gets my recommendation!!!
Rebecca Norman
I've had this nearly a year now.
I've had this nearly a year now. The pink is cheerful without being loud, and looks quite smart really. Plenty of room over me, but folded it still fits in my bag. One press opens it, another folds the canopy, then I push the telescoping section in to pack it. Recently I left it drying and it disappeared (why on earth did I leave it unattended?). I'll be getting the same one again.
Mike Hahn
Once the rain gets going I appreciate having my shoulders covered.
I was looking for as much cover as I could comfortably carry, and this one suits me nicely [pause].Looks fairly modest folded up but there's a decent spread when you open it. Once the rain gets going I appreciate having my shoulders covered. I'd recommend it if you want a useful sized umbrella without carrying one of those great long ones.
Gabriella Edwards
What surprised me most was putting it away again.
I'm tall and usually find little folding umbrellas leave too much of me exposed. This one gives me decent coverage, with some room to share if we're close together. It feels well put together too, and was steady when I used it in moderate wind. At about 40cm folded it's not the smallest thing, but that seems reasonable considering the size when open. The button is easy to reach without me accidentally pressing it as I hold the handle. I like being able to shut the canopy with a press, then push the shaft back down by hand. What surprised me most was putting it away again. Usually I never manage to fold an umbrella as neatly as it arrived, and getting the cover on is a struggle. With this one I can actually wrap it into a tidy bundle and slide it back into its sleeve. Makes it much easier to keep together when I go inside instead of carrying a loose bunch of wet fabric around.
Meagan Ewing
Plenty of cover for everyday showers.
Traveling around SE Asia means I never quite trust a clear sky, so an umbrella stays in my bag. This fits in my day bag without taking everything over and opens without a fuss. Plenty of cover for everyday showers. I wouldn't choose it for a monsoon, mind you; that's when my enormous garbage bag comes into service!!
Jeffrey Peters
Solid feel and excellent quality.
Solid feel and excellent quality. Doesnt seem cheap in the slightest. It works excellent and being able to close the canopy with a button has really helped on snowy and rainy days. It's also had a battering from strong wind and come through without any problems.
Christine Wheeler
Thankyou, really pleased with it !
Thankyou, really pleased with it !Only had a chance to use it once, so not much of a test yet, but I'm waiting for a proper rainy windy day to see what it can do. Living in Perth I don't think I'll be waiting very long, had enough of umbrellas that fold themselves the wrong way when the breeze gets up.The blue is lovely too, makes a change from the usual dull ones everybody seems to carry around here.
Jessica Serrano
Too often I end up with rain down my shoulders even under an umbrella.
I've had good use from this through the wet weather we get in the Caribbean. Its a little bulky to carry, but being tall I appreciate having decent cover. Too often I end up with rain down my shoulders even under an umbrella. Not been a problem here.UPDATE: Five years on, I'd still choose this one when I next need an umbrella.
Frances Pope
This has been a good compromise.
After getting fed up with umbrellas that seemed like throwaway purchases, I spent some time reading about what made one more substantial. I wanted a decent frame without having to carry a long golf umbrella everywhere. This has been a good compromise. The ribs have some give and the whole thing feels much more solid than the little flimsy umbrellas I was tired of. The button operation is convenient, and the closed oval handle is comfortable to keep hold of. Folded down, it is a manageable size rather than a long stick to carry around. So far I am completely satisfied with how it does the job. It would also be a useful present for someone who actually walks in the rain. I would still suggest comparing prices before buying rather than assuming the first listing is the best value. For anyone wanting to move away from those barely-there pocket umbrellas, this is one I can wholeheartedly recommend.
Dalton Burns
Feels made for regular use!
Feels made for regular use! Here in Las Vegas I mostly carry an umbrella for shade, and the wind can make that a nuisance. This one has felt steady on the days I've used it, rather than flimsy and hard to control. Solid...nicely put together, with a canopy that gives good cover. I'm glad I went for it.
Lindsey Chung
Such a lovely looking umbrella!
Such a lovely looking umbrella! The finish is very neat and the quality comes across as soon as you pick it up. Automatic opening works smoothly, with another button press bringing the canopy down just as easily. Even the oval handle seems nicely made. It's a lovely choice for anyone who wants something attractive as well as useful when it rains.
Stephen Miles
Just right for a bit of light rain.
Nothing surprising here. A compact umbrella isn't going to feel as substantial as a big one, and this doesn't. For getting between the car and wherever I'm going in rain it's been very handy, though I wouldn't expect years out of it. Mine has coped well with several months of use in Atlanta. Folded up it fits beside my driver's seat, in the gap by the door. Just right for a bit of light rain.

Everything looks as described and the umbrella feels well put together. I haven't had a proper rainy day to try it out, so four stars for now. Wind performance is the part I'm most interested in seeing, though the construction gives me a good first impression.
Cristina Terrell
One of the most solid umbrellas I've used.
One of the most solid umbrellas I've used. There are plenty of flexible ribs supporting the canopy and it has kept its shape in the rain and wind I've been out in. I feel much more confident carrying this than the flimsy ones I've had before. Very impress with it overall. It feels properly put together without being awkward to carry, and gives me the cover I need. Happy to recommend.

Am happy with the umbrella BUT not with that oversized box, customs charged me more in my country because of all that space, for something which folds up so small. It works very nicely and I am satisfied with it, just not all the unnecessary packaging I had to pay for.
Jon Willis
It also folds down enough to put it in my bag.
Past umbrellas have either flipped over or left me with wet shoulders, so I wanted something that would actually cover me properly. This one has enough room for me without feeling like I'm carrying a huge umbrella everywhere. I've stayed dry using it and it hasn't turned inside out when the wind picks up. Much nicer than reaching my destination and wondering why I bothered taking an umbrella! It also folds down enough to put it in my bag. The only thing I'd mention is that the weight becomes noticeable if I'm holding it up for a long stretch. For me the sturdier feel makes that a fair trade.
Jason Acosta
Had this out in some nasty rain and wind and it stayed in shape.
Had this out in some nasty rain and wind and it stayed in shape. Be aware, it isn't the tiny lightweight sort you forget you're carrying. For me that's fine, I'd rather have something solid with enough coverage for myself and my backpack. If that is what your after, I think you'll be happy with it.

Colours on a screen are hard to judge (yes, I know), but I had a softer pink in my head when I chose this. Mine looks brighter than that to me, more of a cheerful pink than the quiet shade I was expecting. It's still a nice umbrella and works well, just something to bear in mind if you want a colour that doesn't draw much attention.
Karina Patel
Nothing bright or fussy, she said.
One of my granddaughters was after an umbrella she could carry in her school bag for waiting at the bus stop. Nothing bright or fussy, she said. Her mother had looked around without finding quite the right thing. I spotted this while looking for some other bits and let her see it. The blue was just what she wanted and it fits her bag. She has it ready now for the next rainy morning. Glad I found it.
Wyatt Hines
Not quite the little umbrella I expected!
The price and push button opening - These are what attracted me and it seems solid enough.I have only tried it in ordinary rain, not the winter weather yet so cannot say about that. But it is thicker when folded than I had imagined. It fits my bag but takes up more room than I want. Not quite the little umbrella I expected!
Lydia Bradford
Smart looking as well, a nice everyday umbrella.
Ideal for my commute. Starts raining, press the button and it's up. Couldn't be simpler. The sleeve actually has enough space to slide the folded umbrella inside without all the usual fuss. I appreciate that more than I expected. Smart looking as well, a nice everyday umbrella.
Vicki Fuller
It arrived without a long wait and has been a useful replacement.
Replacing an umbrella I'd lost, I chose this one and have been very satisfied with it. Most of its use is when I take my dogs out. There is enough room over me and, if one stays close, that dog gets some shelter as well. It has handled the wind I've been out in without the canopy turning inside out. I like that the ribs have some flexibility rather than feeling completely rigid. The button makes opening it simple with a lead in my other hand, and pressing it again brings the canopy down. The shaft still needs pushing down manually to pack it away, which is easy enough once I have a hand free. For the amount of cover it gives, I don't find it tiring to carry on our walks. I would not count on any umbrella to make it safe to stay outside in lightning, though. It arrived without a long wait and has been a useful replacement. I would happily recommend it to somebody who needs an everyday umbrella.

What a clever little construction!!!
What a clever little construction!!!Used it when the weather was blowing about and it kept doing its job. The ribs have some give rather than feeling rigid, which is reassuring when a gust catches it. I am quite impress with how solid it feels.Of course it isn't the lightest thing to carry, and you will notice it in a small bag. But for me the useful cover and sturdy feel are worth that extra bulk.
Tabitha Stone
Great umbrella to have along.
I love having this for shade and everyone that see it seems to like it too. I work on a big university campus so it comes everywhere with me. Makes walking about on sunny days much more comfortable. It folds away nicely once I'm indoors. Great umbrella to have along.
Jose Adams
I wouldn't leave a very small child to play with the button...
My daughter has an interest in Japan and likes using umbrellas for shade, which is why I picked this up for her. The black is rather plain, but she likes that. It seems sturdy enough for normal use and it can go out in rain as well as sunshine. I wouldn't leave a very small child to play with the button...nothing looks loose, I just prefer being careful. A practical umbrella rather than a decoration, and she's enjoying it.
Cathy Graham
A good-looking umbrella that I'm glad I picked!
I wanted something attractive that didn't feel flimsy, and this has been a lovely choice. The beige is softer in person than it appeared on my screen, which actually suits me better. It pops open with no fuss and the coverage is generous for something I can fold away. A good-looking umbrella that I'm glad I picked!
Ronnie Butler
I'll be sticking with this one, it has been a good choice so far.
After years of buying cheap umbrellas, this one has been a welcome step up. The whole thing feels more substantial than the ones I used to carry. I have a habit of leaving an umbrella on the floor of the car, which probably isn't the best way to look after it, so I'm making more effort with this one. The button action is smooth and the frame feels solid rather than flimsy. It has kept me dry in ordinary rain and been comfortable to carry around. Looks smart as well, and another person can tuck in close beside me when needed. That combination matters more to me than fancy details!I'll be sticking with this one, it has been a good choice so far.
Alexandra Hernandez
Very handy when I'm loaded up.
I was after an umbrella I could leave in my backpack without babying it. It's been in there for over a year now and still looks in good shape. Rainy, blustery days haven't caused it any trouble either. I like having a button for opening and shutting the canopy.Very handy when I'm loaded up. It covers me and my backpack well enough to keep my things dry, yet doesn't take over the bag once it's folded.
Bradley Bean
I have found this umbrella to be sturdy and thoughtfully put together.
I have found this umbrella to be sturdy and thoughtfully put together. The finish is neat, and it feels like some attention has gone into the smaller details. My larger umbrella stays with my golf things; this black compact one is the one I keep in the car.
A few details that stood out:
- The handle forms a closed oval loop. It gives me a comfortable grip and feels secure in my hand, although the shape is different from the straight handles I am used to.
- The opening button is straightforward to find and press. I don't need to change my hold much to reach it, which is a small but useful detail.
- The canopy opens smoothly and stays fully spread. There is no need for me to reach underneath and fiddle with it before it is ready to use.
- Underneath, the flexible ribs give the fabric plenty of support. The canopy holds its shape nicely, and the black underside makes the inside look neatly finished as well.
- A carry sleeve is included, which keeps everything tidy once the umbrella is folded and ready to go back in the car.
Overall, I am impressed with both the construction and how straightforward it is to use. It gives good coverage without needing the storage space of my larger umbrella. An everyday item, but a well designed one that I am glad to have handy.
Clayton Sanchez
An excellent everyday umbrella.
For taking public transport, this has been the BEST umbrella I've used. I'm always standing around waiting for a bus and a flimsy umbrella is no help then. This one feels solid and has coped well with the gusts I've used it in. I still hold on carefully when the weather picks up, of course. Really recommend it to anyone who gets about by bus or train. An excellent everyday umbrella.

Such a pretty umbrella!
Such a pretty umbrella! the blue colour is just lovely to look at. I've only owned it a short while so can't say much about how long it'll last, but no worries so far. Putting it in the sleeve takes a little patience and careful folding, it does fit though. I do enjoy showing it off when I'm out for a walk :)
Madison Wilkinson
Such a cute umbrella.
Such a cute umbrella. My two and a half year old wants to carry it whether there's rain or not. Turned upside down it has become transport for her stuffed animals round the house too. Still looking good after being dragged about and played with rather than just used!
Dan Ochoa
Perfect for living in NYC.
Perfect for living in NYC. Heading down to the subway, I can shut the canopy with ONE press instead of messing about at the steps! Push the shaft in afterwards and it's ready for my bag. Not much extra weight, so it stays in there ALL the time. No more dashing along the street hoping the rain will stop!
Frederick Martinez
We have used it and everything works smoothly.
We wanted an umbrella that would stand up to regular use, and this feels like a good choice. The flexible ribs have some give to them instead of feeling brittle, which is reassuring. We have used it and everything works smoothly. It looks nice as well, so no complaints from us. Does the job we need it for.
Gerald Schultz
Cute little umbrella, and the gray looks nice.
Cute little umbrella, and the gray looks nice. I haven't actually needed it in the rain yet, so this is just from trying it at home. It doesn't have quite the substantial feel I was hoping for. The button closes the canopy, but you still have to compress the shaft yourself, which takes more effort than I expected. It works, just not quite as convenient as I pictured. I'm also wondering how it will wear over time. My old umbrella lasted ten years...and only disappeared because I lent it out. So that is probably a hard one to replace.
