looks really smart!

looks really smart! nice to have along while standing around for rides at the theme park. I was hoping for something closer to a huge golf size, but this is a normal umbrella and works well enough. The sleeve is fine for storage, just not a way of wearing it on your back as I'd imagined.

I love the space underneath and the coverage round my shoulders.

I wanted something that looked good as well as keeping me dry, and I'm very happy with this one. I love the space underneath and the coverage round my shoulders. I can hold it comfortably above my head and see ahead, rather than having to pull it right down in front of my eyes.

No more odd shuffling about trying to keep step with him.

At barely five foot I'm a lot shorter than my other half, but sharing this is easy if we snuggle up!! No more odd shuffling about trying to keep step with him. For a short walk in light rain it gives us the cover we need, lovely being able to walk together comfortably!!

As an umbrella its quite nice.

I ordered this thinking compact meant something smaller then it actually is. Didn't really stop and check the folded size, so thats on me. It gives enough shade for an adult when open, but folded it takes more bag space than I had in mind. As an umbrella its quite nice. The fabric looks tidy and doesn't feel paper thin. One thing I dont really like is having to push the shaft down after the button closes the canopy. I understand thats how it works, I just expected less to do.Overall I think its useful for rain or shade, but not the little thing I pictured carrying around.

Greg Perry

No complaints about keeping dry.

Used mine four times during the recent wet weather. No complaints about keeping dry. Closing it from inside the car was a bit awkward at first. One press opens the canopy right out.Another press draws the canopy shut, then you have to shorten the telescoping stem yourself. Takes a little pressure, but I have the hang of it now.

The Cream White was what attracted me to this umbrella.

The Cream White was what attracted me to this umbrella. but seeing it in the room, I was not sure it was the colour I wanted. It looked rather cold and white, and I spent too long wondering about it. I took it to the window and looked again in proper daylight; this helped, because the cream shade was much clearer there and was the one I had wanted. So that resolved my uncertainty about the colour, although it was annoying to have to check it in different light before I could make up my mind

Had this umbrella a few months now and nothing to complain about.

Had this umbrella a few months now and nothing to complain about. For a compact umbrella it opens to a decent size, though i do notice the weight if I'm carrying it around all day. On properly wet days that is fine, because I want something that feels substantial. The frame has some flex rather than feeling brittle, and it has behaved well in the breezy weather I've used it in. I used to reach for whichever umbrella was nearest, now this is the one I look for. On days that can't decide between sun and rain I sometimes leave it behind. But when the rain settles in, I'm always glad to have brought it.

Crystal Baker

He uses it for shade and for rain.

I picked this out for my dad for fishing trips and watching sports. He uses it for shade and for rain. During a family outing taking pictures, we got caught in a downpour and he was glad to have it. PLENTY of cover for him without carrying an enormous umbrella. Nice to have something useful for both sorts of weather.

Sheila Small

Really love using it!

Added this to go alongside my long-handled umbrella because I wanted one that packs for travel. It still gives me good cover in the rain, and so far the frame has coped nicely with breezes. Really love using it! It's smart enough that I've had a few compliments as well!

We think it's a very good umbrella for the money.

For a compact umbrella, there's a respectable amount of room underneath. I can stay covered comfortably and it looks smart too. The oval handle is neatly finished. Automatic opening and canopy closing save fiddling, although you do still have to shorten the shaft yourself afterwards. A minor point really. We think it's a very good umbrella for the money.

Dominic Carr

a decent sturdy umbrella, and the cream white looked nice.

a decent sturdy umbrella, and the cream white looked nice. It also managed to disappear against the pale wall of the train, which is how I left it behind. A few days later I spotted someone with what looked like mine. She said she'd bought her own, so that was that. I wasn't about to argue over an umbrella. When I had it, it kept me dry, but the back of my backpack still stuck out a bit. That was my only real gripe with using it.

My old umbrella gave up at the hinges after 2 years

My old umbrella gave up at the hinges after 2 years; while I was sorting out a replacement I decided to try this one; feels more solid, folds smaller (it lives in the glove box of my car), and cost me less...!. Very glad I gave it a go, would certainly recommend it.

They enjoy listening to the rain while I enjoy not getting soaked.

I've had this since May '07, which is longer than I ever expected an umbrella to stay with me. To be fair, it only comes out about once a month at MOST, so it hasn't had daily punishment. The ribs and tips are all still in place and it opens without any fuss. There's a bit of rubbing around the button from carrying it about, nothing that interferes with using it. Still gets a big grin from me :D One little preschool child can squeeze in beside me for a short rainy walk, and they all want a turn under it. They enjoy listening to the rain while I enjoy not getting soaked. It folds away rather than taking up a great long space afterwards. A+++ from me, definitely money well spent :) would happily choose it again!

Marie Wallace

Nice sturdy umbrella with automatic opening and canopy closing.

Nice sturdy umbrella with automatic opening and canopy closing. It gives decent cover, with room to share if we stand close together. It's not the easiest thing to put away neatly, but that makes sense for the size when open. My smaller travel umbrella just leaves too much exposed. Feels well made and has done fine in the gusts it's been out in.

Brandi Gregory

Funny how all three can actually manage an umbrella perfectly well.

At last, a compact umbrella my three sisters can apparently carry without applying for gentleman status. They've admired *my* umbrella for ages, but naturally there were obstacles. The eldest has wrists worn out by knitting, so anything cumbersome is out. The middle one wouldn't dream of being seen with anything insufficiently ladylike. And the youngest...well, we mustn't expect a lady to master advanced engineering such as a button, must we? Funny how all three can actually manage an umbrella perfectly well. This beige one opens easily and folds to a sensible size. Anyway, congratulations on remembering that women also go outdoors and encounter rain. A useful umbrella without needing to check whether it's the ladies' or gentlemen's weather.

Costs a little more than I'd like, but handles wind well.

Costs a little more than I'd like, but handles wind well. I got two for my children to use around their college campuses and they're both happy with them. Not the easiest umbrellas to squeeze into a backpack though. They feel solid, which also means carrying a little more than with the very small cheap ones.

Gregg Kramer

I'm really pleased with this umbrella.

I'm really pleased with this umbrella. It slips into my backpack's side pocket without sticking out like a full length one, but opens wide enough that we can squeeze two of us under it. It's dealt with the wind I've met so far. If I were finding something to grumble about, the loop handle is a touch bulky for me.

Having some shade I can carry around has made a tremendous difference!

I have a serious sensitivity to sunlight (yes, really), so stepping outside takes more planning than most people probably realise. Having some shade I can carry around has made a tremendous difference! I still need all my usual precautions, but this makes the short walk to the mailbox or taking out the rubbish so much less miserable. I used to cover myself up from head to toe, and if I was going somewhere nice my hair and make-up would be a mess by the time I got there. Then straight into the bathroom to sort myself out again. Now I have a much more convenient way to keep direct sunlight off me. This umbrella gets opened and shut several times a day, nearly every day, and the button is still working nicely. It's a small everyday object, but for me it has made getting outside less of a performance. I am so grateful for that bit of freedom!

Hailey Haley

An excellent umbrella.

An excellent umbrella. I've had mine about ten years and, considering how clumsy I am with things, it's done remarkably well. Good coverage for me (not exactly a small person) and I can keep my purse tucked under it too. Looks smart whether it's up or folded. Friends have admired it often, and a few have jokingly suggested they might take it home with them! That probably says enough. I'd happily recommend it.

Rachael Jefferson

Enough shelter for the usual showers.

I travel around SE Asia a lot and keep an umbrella with me because rain can appear out of nowhere. This little fellow fits in my bag easily and is simple to open and pack away. Enough shelter for the usual showers. A monsoon would still have me looking for something resembling a giant garbage bag!!

Jennifer Morse

Out comes the umbrella, one click, instant dramatic entrance.

The novelty may fade, but right now popping this open with the button makes me feel ridiculously prepared for battle with the rain. Out comes the umbrella, one click, instant dramatic entrance. Yes, I am easily entertained. Only downside for my grand routine is packing up: the canopy closes automatically, but shortening the telescoping bit is my job. Sigh. Apparently even a mighty rain warrior has to do some tidying.

Molly Reed

* Oval loop handle, comfortable in my hand.

Finding an umbrella I could keep with me on the walk to the bus has been more of a project than it should be. My previous compact was... serviceable, until the frame started showing its age and the opening got unreliable. Another looked sturdier but didn't stay with me long enough to find out. This is a different proposition: * Thirty flexible ribs, giving the frame a substantial feel. * A canopy with room underneath instead of barely covering my head. * Decent fabric and a tidy finish throughout. * Oval loop handle, comfortable in my hand. * A sleeve to keep it together in storage. * One button for opening and bringing the canopy in. Compressing the telescoping pole is the manual part. It isn't the smallest thing sold as compact, and I notice its weight when carrying it. I haven't put it on a scale. But I'd rather carry a little more and have something that feels dependable when I step off the bus into rain. It folds down enough for me, and for the money the improvement in actual use is substantial. An easy recommendation.

Tracie Mata

The way this umbrella is put together appeals to me.

The way this umbrella is put together appeals to me. There is some thought behind the mechanics, rather than just making it fold as small as possible. The ribs have flexibility, the canopy feels substantial, and the automatic action is useful when getting out of the rain. Pressing the button brings the canopy in, then the shaft needs a push down by hand. That is straightforward enough. In wind it isn't completely immune to turning, although the frame has come back into shape without any trouble for me. I would prefer a little more resistance around the outer edge, where a gust can push the fabric inward and leave you less covered. It doesn't happen every time, but it is the main thing keeping this from being a five star umbrella for me.

Victoria Wu

I ordered two others alongside this one and this is my favorite!

I ordered two others alongside this one and this is my favorite! Fits in my duffle/big purse and stood up well on my NYC trip. Black on the inside, not sure what that's about, but it looks nicely finished? If ya like green I'd say this is a good choice and it's the one I keep reaching for

Robert Herring

My kindergartners are delighted with it.

My kindergartners are delighted with it. There's room underneath without feeling like we're hauling a giant umbrella down the sidewalk. We've haven't had trouble with the mechanism or any fingers getting caught. Seems nicely made too. I wasn't sure they'd find a plain design interesting after all the character things they used to like, but they're quite happy to use it.

Zoe Nolan

The blue looked paler in the photo.

The blue looked paler in the photo. Still like it though. I needed this for the sun at my downtown bus stop, where they removed our only shade tree to put in a ramp. I'm fair skinned and it gets roasting there. Having my own patch of shade makes waiting a lot more bearable. One man looked at me and said "there isn't any rain today". I said "there isn't any shade here either, so I brought some". He could stand there sweating if he wanted. I was comfortable. That's all I needed.

Stuart Li

Neither stops me using it.

I've liked how it handles rainy, breezy days, but after about a year there are two things I'd change: it adds a bit of weight to the bag, and shortening it after the canopy closes takes a firm push. Neither stops me using it. It's still the umbrella I usually take when the forecast looks unsettled.

Jade Cummings

I've been using mine a while now.

I've been using mine a while now. Looks cute. Practical too, gives me decent cover in the rain and feels steady in a breeze. My only gripe is having to push the shaft back down after the canopy closes, it needs a firmer shove than I'd like which is annoying when you're trying to get inside quickly.

Martha Cain

I'd certainly recommend it.

We've had wet, blustery weather here in Northern California and I've taken this out several times already. So far it has kept me covered and the frame feels steady. Not just a first impression either, it's been useful through the rainy days here and on my travels too. A practical umbrella that I trust to take along.I'd certainly recommend it.

Julian Mann

Really pleased with it!

Florida showers can come out of nowhere, so keeping this in my rolling cart has been really useful! I'm in and out of hospitals helping patients and don't want a big umbrella to lug around. It gives me the cover I need between buildings, then goes back in the cart. Really pleased with it!

Brandon Reese

Two years in Guatemala and this umbrella has had plenty of use!

Two years in Guatemala and this umbrella has had plenty of use! During the wet season i was taking it out daily, and it kept doing its job. A good amount of cover when open, then folds down small enough to put away. if you want something that holds up to regular rain rather than just the odd shower, I can certainly recommend this one.

Jermaine Jensen

This one has behaved well so far and feels solid to hold.

Had enough of umbrellas folding the wrong way when it's breezy. This one has behaved well so far and feels solid to hold. It's bulkier than I pictured, though the coverage makes that worthwhile. For travelling I'd probably pack something lighter, but for everyday rain I'm glad I have it.

Six months later it is still looking good, better than the cheaper umbrellas I've had beforeI'm not sure if I avoid the worst gusts more now or whether this one handles a breeze better, hard to say yet, so I'm holding off judging that part, but up to now it has been reliable and seems a decent choice for regular use

Patty Bass

I still cant get over how little these cost.

I still cant get over how little these cost. Bought three as gifts and they feel MUCH more substantial than I expected. We take them along to soccer games for shade and for rainy days!! Plenty of room for one person, even room to share standing close, and they fold down nicely. excellent buy

Miranda Molina

It goes up easily too.

The size works well when we're out with the kids, not one of those enormous umbrellas taking up the whole pavement. It goes up easily too. The green looks lovely, and there is always an argument about who gets to hold it. We have another umbrella but somehow that one gets ignored whenever they can have this one instead. (Usually it ends up in the youngest one's hands).

Kyle Hess

This is a sturdy umbrella!

This is a sturdy umbrella! We have plenty of windy days here, and I mostly use an umbrella to escape the summer sun. This one has coped well with the breezes I've been out in and is comfortable to hold. Solid...nicely put together, with none of that flimsy feeling. I'm glad I decided to buy it.

Becky Pacheco

Six months in, this has proved a very worthwhile purchase.

Six months in, this has proved a very worthwhile purchase. I usually have two or three bags with me, and wanted an umbrella that would pack away but open up wide enough to cover me and most of what I'm carrying. This manages that nicely if I keep the bags close. There is a bit of weight to it, but I prefer that substantial feel to something flimsy. The handle is comfortable even when my hands are already busy with bag straps. Opening it at the press of a button is especially useful then, and collapsing the canopy is quick when I get indoors. You still compress the shaft yourself to put it away, which is fine. It has been through plenty of wet, breezy days here in Sydney and still looks good. After spending money on disappointing umbrellas before, I feel this one has been worth paying for.

Alison Pratt

As for the umbrella...

As for the umbrella... its great. The closed loop handle has a solid feel to it and is comfortable in my hand. And the beige looks so freaking nice! A simple look but i really like it. The sleeve is lightweight cloth, nothing that seems meant for rough treatment. I can imagine snagging it if i was careless, but im careful with my things so that doesn't worry me. Overall its one of those purchases that im just plain happy about.

Shari Dalton

Having a sleeve is useful too

We have four of these now, one each, and everyone in the family is happy with theirs. The oval handle sits REALLY nicely in my hand, not an awkward grip at all. Press the button and it opens cleanly every time I've tried it. The canopy fabric feels substantial rather than thin and floppy, and I don't have a battle folding it neatly afterwards. Having a sleeve is useful too; once the umbrella has dried I can slide it in and put it in my bag without the folds catching on everything else.

Becky Finley

It gives her plenty of cover and she seems happy holding the handle.

My preschool daughter was thrilled to see this arrive. We're waiting for a rainy day so she can try holding it outside. It gives her plenty of cover and she seems happy holding the handle. I'll help with the automatic button and with folding it down afterwards, rather than leave her to work it out alone. So far she loves it.

Angelica Roberts

An umbrella is cover above you, not a complete dry suit.

Arrived as expected and everything matched the description. The slip-on sleeve is handy, and the folded umbrella fits neatly in my car door storage. It has been dependable for the ordinary wet, windy days I've used it on. No hurricanes here, so I won't pretend to know how it would fare in one. In a steady downpour it does what I need. Obviously your shoes and trousers can still get wet, especially if rain is blowing sideways. An umbrella is cover above you, not a complete dry suit. I'd choose this again when my other one needs replacing.

My previous umbrella went at a hinge, so I decided to try this one in the meantime; the frame feels more substantial, yet it folds smaller (handy for keeping in the car), and didn't cost as much...!. Very satisfied with how it works, I would certainly recommend giving it a try.

Bethany Caldwell

Opening it is straightforward too.

First the positives: it looks smart and my 4 year old was so pleased to have it! It gives him loads of cover, isn't difficult to carry and the construction seems good. Opening it is straightforward too.I did expect the green to look a bit brighter from the pictures, it is more subdued in person. He doesn't seem bothered at all, but that difference was a slight disappointment for me, so four stars.

Dominique Sherman

picked these for the pink theme in our wedding photos.

picked these for the pink theme in our wedding photos. if you're putting different pinks together they'll fit in nicely. the shade was paler than it looked on my screen, but that worked for us. not identical to the other umbrellas we'd chosen, just a nice part of the mix.

Jon Guzman

Both have handled heavy rain and windy conditions well.

I've had two of these over the past year, having lost the first during a particularly rainy trip. Both have handled heavy rain and windy conditions well. Commuting between Jersey City and Manhattan means I get plenty of chances to try that out, and I've been pleased. Two small gripes:The handle feels a bit short for my hand to get a really comfortable hold. The folded umbrella is also bulkier than other folding ones I've used that give about the same amount of cover.

Darrell Parrish

Need a folding umbrella for travelling?

Need a folding umbrella for travelling?Something that can go in your bag?Or tuck into a briefcase without carrying a long umbrella around? This is a handy choice! Not jacket pocket tiny, but manageable to pack. No complaints about how it's held up so far, including some very wet weather.

Jesus Hartman

My only little hesitation is the loop handle.

A useful umbrella at a reasonable price, and it does everything I need it to. My only little hesitation is the loop handle. I'm used to a more conventional grip and wondered whether this shape would be awkward to hold for long. It hasn't actually bothered me, so that's more an initial worry than a real fault. Otherwise very good.

Erin Stuart

I get so much pleasure out of this umbrella.

I get so much pleasure out of this umbrella. Mostly I use it for shade, like a little patch of tree cover I can take along! My face, chest and arms aren't sitting in the sun, and I feel cooler underneath. Opening it still makes me smile!Getting the hang of opening and closing wasn't instant. On its first outing I was hurrying for the bus, trying to fold it up, and managed to trip and fall. The umbrella came through it fine. (I did too.) So it seems pretty tough! My one wish is that it packed down smaller and weighed a bit less. As it is, I tend to take it only if there's going to be a long stretch out in the sunshine. A smaller, lighter one could ust come with me every day instead of me deciding whether to bring it each time. Then I'd have it there ust in case!Even with that, I am glad I bought it and have really enjoyed using it.
