This Feels Like A Properly Made Umbrella And I Am Very Happy With It.
Let Me Say This First ** The Handle Has No Unpleasant Smell At All & The Button Is Simple To Use !! Yes !! It Opens The Umbrella Quickly And Closes The Canopy When I Am Done. Pushing The Shaft Back In Is Done By Hand, Which Is Fine With Me. This Feels Like A Properly Made Umbrella And I Am Very Happy With It. I Plan To Look AFTER This One So It Stays With Me For Years, Provided I Don't Leave It Behind Somewhere As I Did With My Last One.

No umbrella changes that.
All those elaborate umbrella demonstrations seem a bit silly to me, but this one does work in ordinary wet weather. It opens promptly and has coped well with the rain and gusts I've been out in. Yes I recommend it. Once the weather gets genuinely nasty, though, I'd rather be indoors or in the car than proving a point. No umbrella changes that. A carefully arranged demonstration with wind blowing at someone doesn't mean much to me. I'd sooner know how it behaves on a wet walk. isn't that what most people actually need it for?
Kirk Mayer
Pretty much what I needed.
Pretty much what I needed. Keeps the rain off. The opening button works well, and the canopy shuts with another press; you push the shaft in yourself after that. It is a little chunkier folded than my smallest umbrella, but still goes in my work bag. I wanted something for an ordinary wet winter day around the Bay Area, not something to take out in a storm. For that it has been useful. The black is plain and goes with everything, which suits me.

I found this and it has made her very happy!
What a lucky find! Walking back from school in the rain, my six year old spotted a mum with a pink umbrella and immediately wanted one on her Christmas list. I found this and it has made her very happy! The button makes opening it simple, and I help with getting it packed down again. The oval handle is a nice shape and the whole thing feels well made. Exactly the sort of present she'd been hoping for!!
Chase Walls
I'd pay the extra again.
Used three for our show-choir rain number and they did far more than just look the part. Lots of opening, folding and moving them about during rehearsals, and they have all come through nicely. A couple of wet evenings leaving rehearsal meant they got to do their proper job too. They're genuinely well made, not just something that looks good on a stage. I'd pay the extra again.

My sister was delighted with her umbrella!
My sister was delighted with her umbrella! Easy to carry about and it seems solid, rather than flimsy. The gray looks smart and I especially like how quickly the button gets it open. My only little disappointment was the black underneath, as I'd imagined something lighter looking all over, but it hardly matters when she's actually using it. Folded away you don't notice it at all, and she is very happy to have it in her bag.

When the wind picked up the ribs flexed rather than feeling rigid,…
When the wind picked up the ribs flexed rather than feeling rigid, which was reassuring because I expected a compact umbrella to be much flimsier, i'll still put it away if the weather gets too wild, Since there is only so much you should ask of one. In the rain I have used it in, it has kept me dry and held its shape.
Francis Pearson
It feels reassuringly solid and the green is really nice.
A soaking with my son was enough to make me look for something better than my old umbrella. I needed it to fold up reasonably small but still give us both cover while I'm carrying him. This has enough room for that without being one of those long umbrellas that's awkward to store. It feels reassuringly solid and the green is really nice. I'm actually looking forward to a rainy walk now, which is not something I expected to say!
Loretta Huber
Seems solid enough from what I can tell.
Only been out with this umbrella a couple of times since getting it, and neither time was a real downpour. So far I'm pleased. It feels like a decent everyday umbrella, nothing complicated about using it. Opens promptly and the cover folds back in with the button, which is handy. Seems solid enough from what I can tell. I haven't had the chance to see how it behaves in rougher weather yet, so that part will have to wait. I'm optimistic.

I love having this for shade!
I love having this for shade! I'm allergic to sunlight and usually feel I have to cover my whole head before going outside. Holding this overhead gives my face a welcome bit of shade without having something sitting on my hair. It has such a pretty, feminine look and I've had nice comments about it. There isn't anything complicated to opening it either, which I appreciate. I still take my usual sun precautions, but it's lovely not to have my hair flattened just to get some shade. I'd happily buy it again!
Isabel Dennis
Getting the canopy down is simple with the button.
Because I am sensitive to sunlight, I end up buying quite a few things with protection in mind. Somehow an umbrella wasn't something I had really thought about for shade, even though it seems fairly obvious now! I've taken this one out several times, on sunny days as well as in rain and a little wind. Having some shade overhead has been nice, and when it has rained I've been comfortably covered with no trouble from the umbrella so far.
I chose Blue and like the colour, it looks fine with whatever I have on. There is a reassuring firmness to it when open and nothing about it feels flimsy. Getting the canopy down is simple with the button. I haven't had much experience with compact folding umbrellas until fairly recently, but this one has been straightforward to use. Putting it away does involve a little more pushing than my older umbrella did. The button closes the canopy, then you push the shaft back in by hand until it catches. That last part takes a bit of effort, although I often have arthritic fingers and have still been able to manage it without any real difficulty.
Overall I like how it looks and how substantial it feels in use. It has been useful both for getting out of direct sunshine and keeping me dry, which were the two things I wanted. It's not particularly heavy to carry around either, and once folded I can tuck it down in my bag rather than having something long to keep hold of. For my needs there really isn't much else to want!
Richard Riddle
Has kept me dry so far.
Has kept me dry so far. Pressing the button to open it, or collapse the canopy at a doorway, is handy. It packs down into my backpack easily. Open, it covers more space than the folded size suggests; two of us can squeeze under it, although it's more comfortable just for me.
Carolyn Boyer
My goth little heart approves.
My goth little heart approves. A black umbrella has that properly dressed, slightly mysterious air that goes beautifully with a steampunk mood. Nothing fussy, just a pleasing shape and a nice addition even when it's sitting in the room. Lovely to carry, too.P.S. If your bookshelves are full of clockwork contraptions and ladies with secrets, you'll know the feeling

I'm not seeing what the unhappy reviewer described.
I'm not seeing what the unhappy reviewer described. Mine has been a very good umbrella, and the ones I've given as gifts have gone down well too. The button opening is useful, the frame feels substantial and it gives me the coverage I need. For what it costs, I honestly don't know what else I'd choose. I'd happily buy the same thing again.
Rodney Roach
A decent umbrella for the money.
A decent umbrella for the money. The construction feels solid; I wouldn't go looking for the strongest winds just to test it though. Folded up, it sits comfortably in my bag without taking over the whole thing. The opening button is straightforward and the canopy closes just as readily.
Jerome Walls
My daughter absolutely loves her umbrella!
My daughter absolutely loves her umbrella! Blue is her favourite colour (there's blue stuff everywhere here!) so this was an instant hit. She keeps finding excuses to carry it, even when I'm pretty sure it isn't going to rain. Folded up it goes in her bag, and I help her get it ready when we're heading out. She's had some lovely comments about it too. It's made a rainy walk something to look forward to :)
Linda Burch
A nice size opened up, and folded it will go in my roomy purse.
Wasn't quite sure how the black would look in person from the photos. Now it's here and I think it looks gorgeous!!!! A nice size opened up, and folded it will go in my roomy purse. Looking forward to taking it out. I've been collecting umbrellas for about three years now and this feels like a lovely addition. I know it's a plain colour, but something nicely made still cheers me up on a miserable wet day. Thank you for making such a pretty useful thing.
Lee Robinson
Seems nicely made and folds up very compact.
Seems nicely made and folds up very compact. But for me, at 6'2" and 190 pounds, the coverage is a bit tight across the shoulders. It fits in my lunch bag, which I like, but even a little wind leaves me wet below the waist.Should have checked the size first rather than guessing.
Shawna Fields
I've been out in rain and wind with it and stayed dry.
A keeper! I've always liked a smart green umbrella when I'm dressed up. This one looks right and feels substantial without being awkward to carry. I've been out in rain and wind with it and stayed dry. No turning inside out so far, either. IT WORKS, and I feel it was money well spent!
Gabrielle Vargas
For the money spent, I feel it was a good choice.
I chose this for a friend of a friend because I thought it would suit their style. Once I opened it, keeping it for myself became a surprisingly tempting option, however. Nothing terribly luxurious about the fabric, and I wouldn't buy it for extreme weather, but it is attractive and useful. For the money spent, I feel it was a good choice.
Bonnie Jensen
Still a good portable option, just not my favourite handle shape.
Surprising how much room there is under it once it's open, considering how small a package it makes folded. It goes into my laptop bag without a struggle. The compromise for me is the grip. The oval loop is handy to hold, but the actual bit my hand grips feels shorter than I would prefer. I'm used to longer handles on bigger umbrellas, so that probably affects my opinion. In a gust I have to pay more attention to holding it firmly. Still a good portable option, just not my favourite handle shape.
Meagan Calhoun
The canopy gives me good coverage without being awkward to manage.
I wanted a practical umbrella - sturdy, neat and comfortable to carry - and this fits the bill. The canopy gives me good coverage without being awkward to manage. I like the flexible ribs and the secure feeling of the oval handle; it sits nicely in my hand. The gray looks smart, and I can keep the canopy high enough to check the road before crossing. Folded down, it goes tidily into the sleeve rather than spreading through my bag. A sensible buy, and I'm determined to keep track of this one!
Maria Rosario
the first push of the button gave me a surprise!
the first push of the button gave me a surprise! up it went, and another push brought the canopy down. yes... getting into the car is a lot less fiddly now. you still press the pole back down yourself afterwards, but that quick collapse with one hand is brilliant!
Colton Morris
At home I let everything dry out properly.
Not the tiniest folding umbrella I've owned, although it goes into my backpack or laptop bag easily enough. A press of the button has it open quickly. There are still drops caught in the folds after rain, so I shake it off before putting it in its sleeve and keep it away from the computer. At home I let everything dry out properly. It's a little less cover than I'd ideally choose, but that's the trade off with something you can carry about!
Evelyn Mora
This one looks rather smart.
Rain is part of life in Mobile, AL, so losing my cheap umbrella last year meant I needed another. This one looks rather smart. There's enough cover for me and my backpack, (if I keep everything tucked close.) My one hesitation is the button mechanism. Nothing wrong with it, I just wonder how it will age.. probably me being unnecessarily suspicious. I'd still recommend it to anyone aiming for that well-dressed/slightly pretentious look in the rain.
Kristen Chang
Rain gave me a chance to try it as soon as it arrived.
Rain gave me a chance to try it as soon as it arrived. Really pleased with this little umbrella. Plenty of cover and the grip feels good, nothing flimsy about it. Packed away it's a sensible size, not tiny but not bulky either.I've had smaller folding umbrellas that felt much less solid. This one looks smart and is convenient to have along. Would recommend it if you want something practical and well made.

This is the second one I've purchased.
This is the second one I've purchased. My best friend admired mine, which I'd had for a few months, so her birthday present was easy to decide on. She likes hers as much as I do. A good size and the button gets it up quickly when the rain starts. Very pleased, both of us have been using them.
Candace Whitney
I'll need an umbrella.
A surprisingly substantial umbrella that still folds down to a sensible size. Good coverage, sturdy feeling, and practical for wet New York evenings. I hang it from my belt loop under my coat when I'm out and it stays out of the way. This will be my third one. Left the first in a cab, gave the second away, and now June is here again. I'll need an umbrella. Best part for me is the canopy closing at a press of the button. You then push the shaft back down by hand until it clicks into its reset position, ready for the next opening. Nothing mysterious once you've done it. The closed oval handle is useful for carrying as well. Very convenient without being a huge umbrella to store.
Willie Figueroa
A well-constructed umbrella with an understated appearance.
A well-constructed umbrella with an understated appearance. The frame feels substantial and the canopy provides good coverage. In wind it behaves reasonably, although I would not treat it as a storm umbrella. You still need to hold it firmly and pay attention to where the gusts are coming from. The oval handle gives a secure grip, but for my hand it is not quite as comfortable over a long walk as I had hoped. The automatic canopy action is convenient and has worked consistently. A good product rather than an exceptional one.Update: it is still intact and operating properly. I've become more accustomed to the handle, though it remains the part I would most like to change. My original four-star opinion stands; useful and solid, with a few ordinary limitations.
Diana Ritter
The bendy frame seems to help when the wind gets at it.
We had a florist and he went out delivering so he needed something decent. Other umbrellas didn't last him long at all. Years have gone by and this one is still in use. We retired two years ago and he takes it out often even now. The bendy frame seems to help when the wind gets at it.

Quite taken with the button action, i haven't had an umbrella that shuts the canopy like that before. I still wonder if a sharp gust might pull it from my hand ( more me worrying than anything). The workings look a little basic to me, but nothing has actually given me trouble so far.

Ordered three umbrellas together and this one has become my favourite!
Ordered three umbrellas together and this one has become my favourite! Fits in my duffle/purse and stood up nicely to my trip to NYC. There's a black underside, not sure what that's for but it looks quite smart from below.I hadn't really thought about that when choosing it. The beige is lovely too, definitely worth considering if that's your colour
Pam Ali
So far it has done exactly what I needed, with no fuss at all.
The good comments about this umbrella made me hopeful, and now that I've used it, I understand them.It feels sturdy in the hand, opens promptly, and has been fine in the breezy rain I've been out in.The folded size is convenient too, so it isn't something I leave behind just because carrying it seems like a nuisance. I also appreciated the friendly, helpful service with this purchase. That matters to me, although of course it's the umbrella that has to work once you're outside. So far it has done exactly what I needed, with no fuss at all.If we need another umbrella, I would be quite happy to choose this one again!
Alyssa Ochoa
I like using this as a sun umbrella.
I like using this as a sun umbrella. The shade makes being outside more comfortable, though I'd prefer a slightly deeper canopy rather than one that spreads so wide. Mine is beige on top with black underneath, a simple combination I like. It works well for what I wanted and I'm satisfied overall.
Garrett Fowler
Worth paying a little more.
Worth paying a little more. I added up what I'd been spending on cheap umbrellas in the city and thought screw it, time for a decent one. This has kept its shape in the usual wind and kept me dry. Now I can actually walk along instead of constantly fighting with an umbrella. Quite satisfying watching everyone else wrestle theirs while I just keep moving.
Gail Davies
We've been happy with how it works in the rain.
We appreciated the care and attention with this umbrella. The flexible ribs look like a sensible design and give a reassuring feel when it's open. It looks good too, and using the button is straightforward. We've been happy with how it works in the rain. Really nothing more we needed.
Valerie Norton
2/ enough canopy to be useful in rain
My list was fairly specific: 1/ a button to open it; 2/ enough canopy to be useful in rain; 3/ something I could put in a handbag; and 4/ a change from the dark umbrellas I usually end up with. This one does what I wanted. The beige is lovely and I'm enjoying being able to pop it open quickly. It fits my bigger purses, although not the little ones, and I notice the extra weight in there. Coverage is good for me, just not the same as carrying a giant golf umbrella (not a complaint- they're different things!). I'm tempted to get another so I can leave one in a different bag.
Theresa Mendez
The quality feels excellent.
The quality feels excellent. Handy to carry and reliable when needed. In gusty weather the ribs have some give rather than feeling stiff, and the canopy settles back into shape afterwards. I find it straightforward to open as well. Thank you for an umbrella that is useful and nicely made!
Chris Mercado
It folds neatly enough to go in my small bag.
A great umbrella for shade while I'm out walking in the Southern California heat. It folds neatly enough to go in my small bag. Pressing the button brings the canopy in, though pushing the stem back to its short position takes a firmer shove than I expected. After that it rolls up neatly and slides into the sleeve without any fuss.
Dale Mason
One press pulls the canopy together so I can get inside quickly.
A handsome umbrella and feels solid too, it looks nicer than I expected.I appreciate the button when I am carrying packages , it saves trying to wrestle an umbrella shut while also getting the car door open. One press pulls the canopy together so I can get inside quickly. Then I push the pole down myself when I'm settled, not while standing outside getting rained on. That makes a difference.
Dominique Valdez
Worth that small bit of attention for how useful it is.
Use this almost daily-for the bus to work, shopping, usually for shade but rain too. Compact enough to take along & doesn't feel like a big extra load. Gives me enough shade on the walk without being bulky once put away. Opening is quick, press the button & it's ready. Wind still needs a little common sense... I turn it towards the breeze rather than letting it catch underneath. Worth that small bit of attention for how useful it is. Closing the canopy with the button is handy at the bus, then I push the telescoping shaft in by hand. Not something I leave at home just because the forecast says sun.
Sandra Kennedy
A solidly made umbrella and it feels secure in wet, breezy weather.
A solidly made umbrella and it feels secure in wet, breezy weather. The canopy gives enough cover that my shoulders aren't catching all the rain. Closed down it is easy to stow in a briefcase, backpack or the car without taking over the space.Would recommend to anyone wanting a straightforward umbrella that is easy to operate and gets on with its job.

Such a pretty umbrella, people notice it whenever I take it out!
Such a pretty umbrella, people notice it whenever I take it out!It isn't only nice to look at, it feels thoughtfully put together n the button is handy. Years back I was struggling with an umbrella on a windy walk in New York, watching other people having a much easier time with theirs. That stayed in my mind n made me look for something sturdier this time. This pink one is lovely, the material looks so cheerful. Really love it, I do!
Jody Richard
Pretty and quite feminine, which I like.
Pretty and quite feminine, which I like. I was wary after bad luck with larger umbrellas in the wind, but needed something to keep my laptop covered. We're into thunderstorm season here and this has been useful so far. A little heavier than I would prefer, though I do like having it

Now everybody wants a turn with it!
For years I've wanted something to give me shade while I watch baseball. I'm getting older, but I have hardly a wrinkle and I am convinced keeping out of direct sun has helped! This umbrella has made sitting through my Grandchildren's games so much more pleasant. I can follow the game without the sun beating down on my face, and it feels cooler sitting underneath. Now everybody wants a turn with it! I should have treated myself ages ago. There may have to be another one so I don't have to keep lending mine out. So glad I finally ordered!
Matthew Johns
My favourite, honestly.

For me it's a very good, solid umbrella.
These umbrellas look lovely and feel very well put together. Mine has been sturdy in the rain and wind I've had it out in. One thing worth pointing out is what the automatic closing actually does. The button folds the CANOPY down, it doesn't pull the whole handle and shaft back into a short umbrella. After pressing the button to close it, you push the telescoping shaft down by hand until it resets. Then it's ready to open again with the button next time. That last push is just part of packing it away, not a fault with the automatic closing. I can see how someone expecting everything to retract on its own might be confused. Once you understand that, it's straightforward to use. For me it's a very good, solid umbrella.
Claire Huerta
Just don't have it right beside your face when you press to close.
Replacing an umbrella I'd owned for 12 years, which I managed to leave in the car I traded in after 15 years. The button action is a real treat, both opening it and bringing the canopy down. Just don't have it right beside your face when you press to close. It snaps shut quickly enough to send the water sitting on it flying, so hold it away!
Holly Mcgrath
This folds small enough to leave in the door pocket.
An umbrella for the car was what I needed, with the sudden showers we get here in South Florida. This folds small enough to leave in the door pocket. It has kept its shape on breezy days so far, and there's a useful amount of cover, even for two standing close together.
Leah Cordova
It's sturdy and does the job.
Several years using this now and it's still in tact and working just fine! It's sturdy and does the job. The black still looks smart and this remains my favorite. Wouldn't swap it for another umbrella! Happy with how it's lasted, and the way it works is 10/10 for me!
