I keep this in my backpack incase the weather changes on the walk to school. Doesn't take over the bag and the weight is fine for me. Having a sleeve is nice since it lives in there most of the time. I wouldn't expect a folding umbrella to feel quite like a full length one, but this feels decent. Only thing I'd change is the handle size. The oval opening is a little snug for my hand. Still a very useful umbrella to have along instead of getting caught with nothing.

Pretty much everything I wanted from a folding umbrella.
Pretty much everything I wanted from a folding umbrella. I don't need something that disappears into the tiniest pocket if that means a canopy that barely covers me. This one is compact enough to carry but feels substantial when it's up. The oval handle gives me a comfortable grip, and the fabric sheds the rain nicely. It has a proper amount of room overhead without being an enormous thing to manage. I can walk normally rather than hunching my shoulders together trying to stay under it. The automatic opening is handy too, especially when you're already holding something. It's not a featherweight little emergency umbrella, which is fine by me. I'd rather carry something that feels reliable and actually keeps me covered. Even room to squeeze someone beside you if needed!
Sherry Harper
Small enough to take most places.
Small enough to take most places. My wife kept borrowing mine so I ended up getting a second one for her. Only used it in ordinary showers so far and it has done fine. The canopy isn't enormous, but that's the point really, I cant be lugging my big golf umbrella about every day.

This came everywhere with us in Italy during June.
This came everywhere with us in Italy during June.It was handy in the rain, but I appreciated it even more when the sun was beating down.Standing underneath was so much nicer than being out in the glare.I'm already planning to get a couple more because this one earned its place in the bag.

It arrived in good condition and i have a very happy girlfriend now.
My girlfriend's birthday present, and she loves it. It looks good and the oval handle is unusual, though i can't say i spend much time comparing umbrella handles. It arrived in good condition and i have a very happy girlfriend now. We did have that zombie problem, and sadly an umbrella did not make them run away... So don't count on it for that. As an actual umbrella and a birthday gift, though, I'm very happy with it.

it's not small enough for my purse, but it keeps my upper half dry.
it's not small enough for my purse, but it keeps my upper half dry. mornings here tend to be fine so I leave it at the office, then bring it along if those afternoon rain clouds start gathering. i've been caught when the wind picked up a few times and it kept its shape while other umbrellas nearby were turning inside out. i like knowing i can get back from work without wrestling with it. the frame feels much more dependable than the flimsy umbrellas i used to carry.

Dad reaches for it even when there's only a little drizzle!
My father is one of those people who is nearly impossible to buy for at Christmas, so finding an umbrella he would actually use felt like a small victory. I expected a fairly ordinary folding umbrella, just a useful thing to have around. What surprised both of us was how nicely the button action worked. I've been underwhelmed by that sort of thing on umbrellas before, so I hadn't really given it much thought when ordering. This one springs open cleanly, and another press gathers the canopy in. You do then compress the stem by hand, which is just the last step in putting it away. The nice part is that it is still working just as well after more than six months of fairly frequent use. Dad reaches for it even when there's only a little drizzle! I'm glad this wasn't one of those gifts that gets put away and forgotten. It feels well made and I can see him keeping it for a long time.
Melinda Landry
I'm pleased with how solid it is but that is worth considering.
My reason for 5 stars:A strong folding umbrella was what I needed. My good/bad points:It feels substantial and the spread is generous for something that folds away. If your wrists are sensitive or you have carpal tunnel, the firmer feel might not be the most comfortable choice.I'm pleased with how solid it is but that is worth considering.Who would I suggest it for:Anyone wanting a sturdy everyday umbrella, especially if a firm grip isn't an issue.
Heather Carr
So far I think it was worth the extra!
The coverage is better than I expected from an umbrella that folds down this size. I keep it in the car for those sudden rainy spells, and it has been handy more than once! The fabric feels substantial and the frame doesn't have that flimsy feel I was trying to avoid. It isn't the cheapest option, so I did hesitate a bit before buying it. Still, I'd rather spend a little extra on something I actually want to use than keep replacing umbrellas that feel cheaply put together. So far I think it was worth the extra!
Natalie Vargas
The way it is put together feels really good.
An excellent umbrella overall, though there was quite a strong smell when I first unpacked it. Leaving it out for a couple of days sorted that. The way it is put together feels really good. For anyone wanting decent coverage in something that packs away, this is a good choice.
Nathaniel Fritz
Works the way I wanted.
Works the way I wanted. One press gets it open, and another brings the canopy down, which is handy when getting into the car. It does a good job for everyday showers. In a really heavy downpour, though, rain can still blow in round the edges. Fine for getting from one place to another, but I wouldn't expect to stay completely dry on a long walk.
Claudia Burnett
Finally had some rain to try it in.
Finally had some rain to try it in. I wasn't certain how it would cope with the gusts, but it kept me dry and felt steady enough. Could use a bit more width across the canopy, and the loop feels small in my hand. Those are my reasons for four stars. Still a useful umbrella for the money.
Edgar White
Good cover, too.
Took mine to Ireland and reached for it pretty much daily. A press sends it open, then another press pulls the canopy in when you're done. You still shorten the stem yourself before wrapping it up. That was handy with the rain appearing so suddenly. I nearly left it out of my luggage because it's not the smallest thing, but it fitted in my daypack and earned its space. Good cover, too.And the cream white looks cheerful against grey weather. I spent ages comparing travel umbrellas before buying, so it was a relief to be happy with the one I picked.
Gilbert Chan
A much nicer way of getting about in rain.
My last big umbrella couldn't cope with a storm, whereas this one has done well in wet, blustery weather. I feel nicely sheltered walking with it, and can angle it to watch for people and poles along the pavement. A much nicer way of getting about in rain.Great buy!
Roberta Braun
My boys are delighted with it - nice and manageable once folded.
My boys are delighted with it - nice and manageable once folded.I like that it gives them proper cover without being a huge umbrella to carry about. The closed loop handle feels sturdy and they find it easy to keep hold of.There was a bit of a new-material smell when we first unpacked it, but nothing out of the ordinary.Once it had been left open to air, it was fine and ready to use.
Sandra Rush
Glad I could get another umbrella like the one I enjoyed before.
Glad I could get another umbrella like the one I enjoyed before. The old one had a hard life with my daughter borrowing it (I don't think the umbrella was to blame), and eventually needed replacing. This one has that same smart look I liked. It gets compliments and makes going out in the rain a bit less dreary.
Jesus Ewing
It is useful for a patch of shade on sunny days as well.
I have to say, it has done very well on the breezy days I've used it. I take it out for rain and it does what I need, keeps me covered without being enormous. It is useful for a patch of shade on sunny days as well. The size suits me and a press on the button has it open.
Bryce Bates
I absolutely LOVE this umbrella!!
I absolutely LOVE this umbrella!! I've now bought a second one and would happily tell friends and family to try it. Opening it is easy, and it folds together neatly for putting away. I don't feel like I'm wrestling with the ribs every time I pack it up. The green is just beautiful!
Shelley Hurley
Really pleased we had them ready, would happily recommend!
Wedding weekend lifesavers!! With rain forecast for the celebrations I ordered eight, and the Cream White looked right with our wedding colours. They gave us enough cover outside and nobody had trouble getting the canopies open or closed. Really pleased we had them ready, would happily recommend!
Gregg Haley
It arrived in good shape too.
My daughter LOVES this umbrella. The pictures gave a fair idea of what it looks like, and the size gives her plenty of cover. It feels well put together so hopefully she'll have it for quite a while. It arrived in good shape too. Happy to recommend it, it has gone down very well here.
Alexandria Cooley
A handy umbrella to bring when the forecast can't make its mind up.
A handy umbrella to bring when the forecast can't make its mind up. It folds to about 40cm, so worth checking your bag rather than assuming it's a tiny one. Feels fairly light for the cover it gives. The button opens it quickly and closes the canopy too, though you still shorten the shaft manually. A slightly smaller folded size would be nice.
Dave Ingram
There isn't much mystery to an umbrella really.
There isn't much mystery to an umbrella really. I wanted something well made that looked tidy and kept the rain off, and that's what I got. Folds down to a useful size for carrying and gives me enough room underneath. Happy with it and would suggest it to others.
Kayla Drake
The shade is better than I had expected.
The shade is better than I had expected. I do wish the canopy was a touch wider, though the size was there for me to read before buying, so I can't really complain. It feels like a decent everyday umbrella, not something I'd deliberately put through rough treatment. I've had it out at the beach a few times with a breeze and it was manageable, not constantly tugging me about. The balance makes a difference when you're holding it for a while. The gray is as pictured. Sun bothers me, so having my own patch of shade was a real help. I wondered if carrying an umbrella there would look a bit old-fashioned, but the interest from other women was friendly rather than odd.

My mom got this from me for christmas a couple of years back.
My mom got this from me for christmas a couple of years back. We don't see much rain in Los Angeles, but what we do get can come with a lot of wind. Whenever umbrellas come up during a visit she tells me again how much she likes hers. She calls it her favourite one and says it feels dependable when the weather turns nasty. I'm glad it was something she actually enjoys using, not just another present.
Janet Harper
I wanted something quite delicate for my two week trip.
This makes a very pretty parasol, although it feels more substantial than I expected. I wanted something quite delicate for my two week trip. The button is handy, but packing it away still means pressing the telescoping section down myself. It's a nice umbrella as long as you're expecting a proper everyday one, rather than a featherweight sunshade.
Shelia Hanna
For normal rain and a bit of breeze, though, it has been good.
I've lost two umbrellas to the wind in Philly, so I wasn't expecting a compact one to be a miracle. In a really strong gust I'd still rather put it away than wrestle with it. For normal rain and a bit of breeze, though, it has been good. It folds small enough for my larger purse, which makes it much more likely I'll actually have it with me. The shaft doesn't feel particularly substantial, but it works fine. At this price I'm happy with it for everyday use, just not buying it as storm equipment!

The Umbrella was for the English Wife.....
The Umbrella was for the English Wife.....the Cat has her own things.....this one is for the Wife.....and it is Fantastic, opens up nicely and folds down again ! Still have to wipe the shower after I use it.....all these different things.....but I do like this umbrella, the Button is very handy.....the Wife likes it too and that is great !

Bought it as a birthday gift for my boyfriend and he loves it!
Bought it as a birthday gift for my boyfriend and he loves it! Looks smart without being fussy, which suits him. Press the button and it opens straight out. I had wondered about the build after reading a few comments, but ours feels sturdy and the canopy opens and closes smoothly. There's enough cover for us to stand close together, although I prefer it for one when walking. No complaints from him, and I'm pleased I chose it as his present.

Been looking for an umbrella to carry on my walks to the bus.
Been looking for an umbrella to carry on my walks to the bus. The little ones I've had before have been... adequate, but the coverage has always been the compromise. I wanted something that felt more substantial without going to a full length umbrella. This has been a much better fit for that:* There is some weight to it. Not excessive, but not a feather either.* Opened out, the canopy is a useful size for an adult.* The 30 flexible ribs give it a reassuring feel rather than that flimsy impression some folding umbrellas have.* Fabric feels decent rather than thin and papery.* The oval loop handle is comfortable to carry.* Comes with a sleeve to keep it together in my bag.* The button is quick, both opening it and bringing the canopy back in.The shaft gets pushed back down by hand afterwards, so don't expect the whole thing to shrink at the press of a button. Closed it is longer and thicker than the really tiny compact umbrellas (I haven't measured mine), but the extra coverage makes that worthwhile for my bus walk. For what I paid, I'm very satisfied.
Megan Hartman
I would also have liked a little more coverage.
Bought this as a Christmas present for my brother, who lives in the city and is often out walking in the evenings. We tried opening and closing it together and the button was easy enough to work out. It opens out nicely, and I like that it doesn't take up too much room once folded. He did find pushing the telescoping part down a bit harder than expected, though he managed it fine. I would also have liked a little more coverage. There hasn't been much rain since Christmas, so he's mostly just tried it indoors. Seems promising, but we'll know more after he's actually taken it out.

Very smart umbrella, with a nicely finished feel.
Very smart umbrella, with a nicely finished feel. The beige is lovely. There is a plain sleeve for storing it too. Looked just right with my outfit. Someone did say they'd prefer a handle that blended in with the canopy more, but that was their opinion. To me it looks beautiful just as it comes.
Pedro Chen
nearly two years of regular use is good going.
this umbrella has come along through rain, wind and even snowy days, from europe over to canada and around new england. nearly two years of regular use is good going. it folds small enough for my bigger handbag, which means i actually bring it with me. felt nicely sheltered in it and it coped with the blustery days in holland too!! still looking fine after all that carrying about. didnt expect to get so attached to an umbrella but here we are.
Noah Maddox
Still good value overall, and it'll get used back home as well!
Took this to the East Coast in July and carried it while we were at ball parks, amusement parks and walking around cities. Having my own patch of shade made those sunny days much nicer, and it covered me well when we had rain too. I liked being able to fold it away and the quick opening is useful. On the minus side, it's heavier than I expected and the button needs a fairly definite press. Not my choice for very gusty days either. Still good value overall, and it'll get used back home as well!

At last I had a rainy day to try this out.
At last I had a rainy day to try this out. I'm used to grabbing those tiny folding umbrellas from whatever shop is nearby, then wishing I'd brought something better. Walking through the city today, I actually stayed dry. There was wind too, and a few people were wrestling with their umbrellas while mine just carried on. Almost had a smug little attitude about it! For something that folds up, this has made me ridiculously happy.

Handy for that dash across town to catch the train.
Bought it to live in my laptop bag because I was tired of replacing cheap umbrellas so often. The construction is REALLY solid compared with what I was used to. Pressing the button gets it up quickly, and bringing it down isn't a struggle. It has also coped well with breezy walks. I could use a little more room across the canopy but that's my preference, not a complaint about how it works! Handy for that dash across town to catch the train.
Nicole Nunez
The cream white looks beautiful and I really like the size.
The cream white looks beautiful and I really like the size. It feels well made, although I do wonder how it will stand up to lots of opening and closing. I've only had a chance to try it a few times so far. Very pleased with it now, just can't say much about long term wear yet.
Janice Steele
On balance, it's been a very good little umbrella!
I put off reviewing this until I'd carried it through about six months of our fairly rainy city weather. On balance, it's been a very good little umbrella! There is one qualification, and that is about expectations rather than anything going wrong. This is the one I reach for when the forecast is uncertain or there's ordinary rain to contend with. It has done that job well. A prolonged, drenching downpour is a different proposition. After a couple of hours out in that sort of weather, I wasn't completely dry, and I'd still choose something bigger if it was already coming down hard before I left home. Compact does have its limits.
The Pink is a cheerful change from the sea of dark umbrellas around here. It's noticeable without looking silly, which is pretty much what I wanted. And for those who pay attention to the view from underneath (apparently I do), the black underside is a nice touch. You get the colour outside without having pink directly above your face all afternoon.
The button operation has probably been my favourite part in actual use. Coming off a bus, a quick press gets it open, and gathering the canopy in again is just as straightforward. You do still have to shorten the stem manually afterwards; the button doesn't do that last part. I find that a perfectly reasonable arrangement, especially when trying not to drip over everyone near the doorway.
Size seems well judged too. Small enough when packed away that I actually bring it, but not one of those tiny umbrellas that leaves you wondering what exactly it's supposed to cover. (Just your hair, perhaps?) The closed oval handle feels comfortable in my hand, and I appreciate having the loop on the umbrella itself rather than relying on the sleeve. Putting it away is easiest if I take a moment to wrap the fabric neatly first. The sleeve then goes on without a wrestling match.
All in all, a useful, well made umbrella.

Closing the canopy with the button is easy
My brother seems to attract bad weather whenever he carries an umbrella, so I was interested to see how this one would fare. It has now been through its first proper storm since Christmas and come out looking just fine. I'm not predicting years of service yet (he does seem to find the wind), but it stayed in shape and felt reassuringly solid. Good start.I also have a black one for myself. Mine has only had about twenty minutes in a downpour so far, which isn't much of a long term test, but I stayed dry. Closing the canopy with the button is easy; compressing the telescoping part afterwards takes a firmer push than I'd prefer. Not a big complaint, since it worked well where it counted.
Wanda Leon
It's been good so far, though I haven't taken it into strong wind.
A little bigger folded than the compact umbrellas I'm used to. It's been good so far, though I haven't taken it into strong wind. The ribs seem more substantial than my previous ones. The button opening and canopy closing is handy. My gripe is getting the strap fastened again. It needs quite a pull to reach the Velcro, otherwise the ends don't meet. I worry I could snap a rib pulling it that tight, which makes wrapping it back up more awkward than it should be.
Brady Rollins
I'm delighted with all three.
My son was so taken with his that I ended up buying another for my ex-husband and one for me. The loop handle gives it a bit of style without making carrying it awkward. Best part is it doesn't feel flimsy when it's opened, either. I'm delighted with all three.
Beverly Wu
The oval loop handle tends to get noticed as well.
I started using this umbrella in May, and it has stayed in regular use through the changing seasons. It has seen the usual spring showers, heavier summer rain, blustery autumn days and some thoroughly unpleasant cold, wet weather. So far, the fabric has held up beautifully, the rib ends are still where they belong, and pressing the button gets the same dependable response as it did at the beginning. I've carried it along windy city streets without it flipping over on me. What matters to me is that I haven't had to wrestle with it. The canopy covers me properly without taking over the pavement, which is particularly welcome when everyone coming the other way has an umbrella too. The black colour is plain in a good way, and I've even had comments about how smart it looks. The oval loop handle tends to get noticed as well.
There are a couple of details I would alter, given the choice. I'm 5'2", and the most comfortable place for my hand is slightly above the handle rather than around it. The loop is fine to carry it by; it just isn't quite my ideal position while walking under it. This seems to be one of those little matters of proportions, and I suspect someone taller wouldn't give it a thought. It hasn't stopped me using it, but it is the first thing I would adjust if I were designing one just for myself.
The other thing is the button placement. It's handy when I want it, but I have to pay attention to where my fingers are when I'm gathering the wet umbrella together. I've caught it unintentionally, so now I keep my hand clear of it during that part. Pressing it closes the canopy; the telescoping section then needs a manual push to put it away. That's straightforward enough, just a little less graceful when everything is dripping. To be fair, my own coordination probably deserves some of the blame.
Those are small grumbles rather than reasons to replace it. For everyday rain, this has become the umbrella I reach for first, and I'm delighted with how it's lasted.
Tara Cole
Beige suits me better.
At about 390g it's not the featherweight I was looking at, but I'm satisfied enough. The lighter option didn't have a black underside and I didn't like its colour choices. Beige suits me better. It's okay; I wanted something I could use for shade too, so this seemed the better compromise.
Andre Campbell
The size surprised me in a good way.
Mine was a birthday present after I moved to the North West coast, and it has already proved a good thing to have here. The size surprised me in a good way. Plenty of cover when I'm on my own, and my girl can tuck in beside me if we keep close. I like the closed loop handle, it sits comfortably in my hand and was part of the appeal for me. The whole frame seems substantial without being a huge umbrella to take along. There are lots of ribs supporting the fabric rather than just a few widely spaced ones. It has behaved well in the breezy December rain so far. Water shakes off quite easily too, which I appreciate when I get back inside. The cream white looks really nice. Once folded it is much more convenient to bring with me than a long umbrella. For everyday walks or something to take travelling I would certainly recommend it. An excellent birthday choice!!!
Yvette Frederick
Handy size , she can put it in her bag.
Picked this out as a gift. From the pictures I imagined a great big golf type umbrella, so the short folding style surprised me. It feels quite light in the mechanism, almost flimsy at first, but it springs open fast and gives a decent amount of cover. The blue ( which was the reason I chose it is lovely. Just as nice in person. My girlfriend is delighted with it. Handy size , she can put it in her bag. There is also a close fitting sleeve to put it away in.
Melissa Shields
This has suited the walk through midtown manhattan really well.
Needed something I could carry on my commute without adding too much bulk, but not another umbrella that gave up as soon as the wind picked up. This has suited the walk through midtown manhattan really well. It folds down neatly and has handled the breezy wet days I've used it in. Such a relief not to be wrestling a flipped canopy on the sidewalk. There is enough room underneath for me, without being so wide that I keep bumping into people on the crowded sidewalks.
Ernest Phillips
Its still a one person umbrella in my book.
Eventually I got tired of carrying conference umbrellas that never felt worth keeping, and decided to buy a decent one. This is the right compromise for me. It goes into my backpack without having to rearrange everything, yet opens wide enough that I don't feel like I'm hiding under a napkin. Its still a one person umbrella in my book. If I'm expecting really heavy rain and have room, I'd take a larger one instead. The important thing is that this one actually comes along, so I'm not left standing there with nothing. Feels well assembled so far, though obviously I can't report on years of use yet. The push button opening is a big improvement over my old little manual umbrella. I always seem to have a phone or a bag in the other hand, and stopping to juggle everything just to put an umbrella up is a pain. This saves that whole performance..

) Anyway the umbrella has been great.
There was a little confusion getting the delivery (it showed up as delivered before I actually had it, so for a while I thought it had gone missing. It turned up two days later, which was a relief.) Anyway the umbrella has been great. I live on the east coast and we get enough blustery rain to notice a poor umbrella. My previous one wasn't much help. This one feels solid, gives me good coverage, and looks smart too. Very glad I went with it!
Larry Petersen
That's the sort of quality I keep coming back for.
Honestly, five or six years with one folding umbrella is a record for me! It lives in my everyday bag and has come all over Europe with me. Still doing its job, just looking grubby after so much use. I'm ordering a fresh one for that reason, not because it's given up. That's the sort of quality I keep coming back for.
Joseph Holland
Needed a new umbrella after I lost my last one.
Needed a new umbrella after I lost my last one. I tend to keep using the same kind once I find something dependable. I've also ended up with umbrellas that family weren't using, so I have had plenty to compare. This one opens smoothly and feels like it should last. It is the sort of everyday thing I want to work without much thought. I'm happy with the choice.
Vincent Anderson
Excellent umbrella!
Excellent umbrella! The cover is wide enough that my messenger bag can stay tucked beside me on the walk to work instead of hanging out in the rain. I especially like the closed loop handle, it sits comfortably in my hand and doesn't leave me changing my grip all the way there. When the shower stops I can fold it up rather than carry a long umbrella along. I've had no discomfort carrying it on the longer walks either.**Note: Even with a folding umbrella you still need to watch the edges on busy sidewalks, there's more space overhead than it first looks!
