One of my granddaughters wanted something for her book sack so she wasn't getting wet at the bus stop. Nothing too showy, she said. Her mom had been looking without finding quite the right size. I came across this while getting a few other things and let her have a look. It suited her and folds away in her bag without a problem. She has it ready for the next wet morning now. Glad we found it.

I enjoy using this umbrella, even on a miserable wet day.
I enjoy using this umbrella, even on a miserable wet day. It covers my shoulders without feeling like one of those huge umbrellas you need a whole pavement for. Rain isn't dripping straight down my sleeves. Seems solid so far, and it packs away tidily. A good purchase.

THE CLOUDS HAVE BEEN PUT ON NOTICE.
Rain everywhere, so i finally decide to be a sensible human and get an umbrella. Naturally the skies take that as their cue to stop raining. Not saying this thing controls the weather, but the timing is very suspicious! When it does rain it keeps me dry, which is apparently what i bought it for. THE CLOUDS HAVE BEEN PUT ON NOTICE.

The oval loop on the handle is a nice touch.
It looks so cheerful!! The oval loop on the handle is a nice touch. Feels solid and good value, and my four-year-old loves helping with the button (I hold it while they do that). No struggling to get the canopy up, which is a relief. It's a proper usable umbrella as well as being cute.
Albert Wolfe
It would look good in her room afterwards too.
Prettier in person and nicely put together. For the price I wasn't expecting such a nice finish. My daughter wants to use it with a costume, and then take it out on sunny days for shade. It would look good in her room afterwards too. I'd certainly recommend it; it feels like a lot for the money.

The sleeve is useful when I put it away properly.
The automatic action is great for my commute, especially when I have my backpack on. Folded, it fits across the bag, though it isn't a tiny pocket umbrella. I keep it outside using the oval clip handle, so I don't need to dig past everything else to find it (I clip onto an existing strap on the backpack, not onto the sleeve, and haven't needed to sew or attach anything extra). The sleeve is useful when I put it away properly. It has coped with the usual wind on my route, although I can't say what would happen in the stronger gusts around taller buildings. For getting to work it does just what I need, and being able to reach it without opening my bag is the best part.

Walking around NYC this time, I stayed dry.
Got to take my new umbrella out for its first rainy walk today. Usually I grab those tiny umbrellas from the grocery or drug store and hope for the best. Walking around NYC this time, I stayed dry. The wind wrecked several umbrellas nearby, but mine kept its shape. Could almost imagine it giggling at the gusts! Easily one of the smartest things I've bought.

The button opens it and draws the canopy closed nicely.
My old folding umbrella was so light I hardly noticed carrying it, but there wasn't enough cover when it actually rained. This one gives me more room and feels more solid, so that side of it is an improvement. The button opens it and draws the canopy closed nicely. Pushing the shaft back down until it catches is another matter, it needs quite a firm push. I think women with less strength in their hands could struggle with that final step. That is where the missing star went ^^

Automatic Umbrella for Everyday Use After about a month of use,…
Automatic Umbrella for Everyday Use After about a month of use, the shade has been the most useful part for me. Holding it overhead in the middle of the day keeps the direct sun off and feels more comfortable than walking without it. I also appreciate being able to open it promptly with one press when heading outside. The canopy closes by button as well, with the shaft needing to be pushed back down by hand before putting it away. Its open size provides sufficient coverage for my daily needs, while the folded size is reasonable for carrying in my bag. The finish looks tidy and the umbrella feels substantial without being too heavy for regular use. Having one item that I can use in ordinary rain as well as sunshine makes it practical to bring along. It has become something I reach for often, and I am satisfied with its convenience.

Everything works as it should, and feels well made.
Spent a few minutes wondering why a second press didn't pull the whole thing down. Then realised it closes the canopy and you push the shaft in yourself. A little note making that clearer would have saved me some puzzling. Everything works as it should, and feels well made. I'll be mentioning it to friends. Added benifit: the loop gives me a good hold when carrying it.

For everyday walking, this does the job.
For everyday walking, this does the job. A compact umbrella that actually feels sturdy, opens promptly with the button and isn't awkward to manage. I walk a lot in NYC and need something I can depend on, not just something that looks nice in the hallway. This has done what I needed. The cream white is plain rather than a fancy pattern, which suits me fine. Let someone else carry the showy one, I'll take the one that keeps me dry.

My grandson was thrilled to have his own umbrella.
My grandson was thrilled to have his own umbrella. He keeps wanting to open it up for everyone to see. It seems nicely put together, and folded it isn't awkward for us to take along. I help him with the button and packing it up. He is already looking forward to showing all his friends what he has.

It arrived today and everything looks as it should.
It arrived today and everything looks as it should. The fabric feels substantial and the whole thing seems sturdier than the umbrella we had before--which is encouraging. The black is *really smart*, and the oval handle makes it look a little different. There is a button for opening it, so I handle that part rather than letting little hands play with it. My four year old daughter was very excited to see it opened up. Too early to say how it will last, but I'm happy with it so far and she's delighted.

I haven't bothered with a review before, but taking this umbrella on vacation gave me a reason. We had a few rainy days in Saint Maarten and my wife and I managed to have plenty of laughs getting around. There seemed to be umbrellas everywhere we looked, everyone trying to stay covered. Ours kept the rain off and was easy to open whenever another shower started. Nothing very glamorous about walking around in the wet, but at least we weren't fussing with the umbrella. Anyway, it earned its place in our luggage and we were both glad we'd brought it.

They look great now and feel sturdy too.
Been wanting a compact umbrella for a while and the reviews persuaded me to give this a go. Ordered two, for myself and a co-worker, and we're both pleased! Bigger across when opened than I'd thought, yet easy enough to put away. There was a little dust on them from the packaging, nothing a quick wipe didn't sort out. They look great now and feel sturdy too. Would def tell others to try them!

Pleased to have a green umbrella again after leaving my last one in a restaurant. This one has already been out a few times during the past fortnight and handled the rain and wind very well. It seems properly made and I'm hoping to keep hold of this one for longer, rather than needing another replacment.

Update: It's still going strong.
Update: It's still going strong. I looked back at when I bought it and it's been over a year now, with nothing to complain about. Keeping my first review below:----
I don't usually bother putting reviews up, particularly when something is good, but I've started making an effort. Choosing an umbrella took me far too long. I'd read the lowest ratings first and practically talk myself out of buying anything, even with lots of happy people in the other reviews. I considered spending quite a bit more, but the comments on the expensive ones didn't make that seem worthwhile. Went with this instead, and I don't regret that.
I've had it about a month at this point, including some wet, windy days, and it's doing fine. You still need to point it into the weather, obviously, but I haven't been perfect about that and it hasn't blown inside out. The cover is a decent size once it's up, too.
For what I spent I'm comfortable with the choice. If it eventually wears out, replacing it won't feel like such a painful expense, which was half the point for me. Looks nice, works well, and hasn't given me anything to worry about. Carrying it hands-free would be useful occasionally though.

Honestly, I'm impressed with how much room there is once it's open!
Honestly, I'm impressed with how much room there is once it's open! I'm usually juggling the baby, my purse and a bag, so a tiny canopy is no help. I can hold this over us without feeling squeezed underneath it. The green looks right compared with the picture too. Feels solid rather than delicate, and I'd certainly suggest it to someone looking for a handy umbrella.

My 4 yr old wants to bring her umbrella wherever we go.
My 4 yr old wants to bring her umbrella wherever we go. It seems nicely put together and I appreciate not having a little catch to press with your fingers. She presses the button to open it, then presses again to gather the canopy. I help her slide the stem down afterwards. She is so proud of being able to get it open herself, which I think is the real reason she likes carrying it around so much.

Was ready to replace my old umbrella and this black one caught my eye straight away. The plain finish is lovely...just what I wanted. The button shuts the canopy, then I press the stem in by hand to pack it away. A nice straightforward way of doing it. I'd certainly recommend it...has kept me dry as well!!

Not much rain involved at all!
I needed four umbrellas for a wedding with a fussy color theme. These worked out nicely and got passed around a lot, mostly for pictures and people wanting them as decorations, etc. etc. Not much rain involved at all! They stood up to all the handling and were good value for the money. The whole effect looked GREAT!

The cream white top is really nice and underneath it is black.
Last year I got my daughter a little umbrella and it has lasted better than I expected. I wanted something for me that would give a bit more room with the baby and my purse, without being a nuisance to carry when it wasn't raining, so I chose this one. The cream white top is really nice and underneath it is black. I wondered if a folding umbrealla would feel too flimsy, but the fabric and all the ribs feel more substantial than I thought they would. Tried it last week, with all the rain we've had in June, and it kept us comfortably covered when I held the baby close. It isn't a see through canopy, so I hold it high enough to see ahead. I leave it open to dry before folding it up and putting it away.
Bailey Moran
Much better.
After getting fed up with folding umbrellas waving around while I was trying to keep dry, I tried this one. Much better. The button gets it open promptly as I step out of the car, which is exactly when I need it. The gray looks smart, and the closed loop handle is comfortable to hold. It's stayed nicely composed in the weather I've used it in.

I've stayed dry using it and get something I enjoy looking at too...
Fashion isn't usually my reason for buying anything, but the plain look of this umbrella really appealed to me. It's a little bigger folded than I'd ideally like. Still, opening it takes one press and another pulls the canopy closed. I've stayed dry using it and get something I enjoy looking at too...

I wanted an umbrella that wouldn't make the load feel ridiculous.
Carrying equipment on the train and subway for work means I think about every extra thing that goes in my bag. I wanted an umbrella that wouldn't make the load feel ridiculous. This one is about 390g, which is manageable for me, and folds down enough to go in my work bag without taking over. Open it up and you still get a proper sized canopy. I've been showing it off because I like how much umbrella comes out of a fairly compact package, and I'm thinking of buying more. Haven't actually had it out in the RAIN yet, so that's still to come -- I don't expect miracles in extreme wind from anything portable. The gray looks good too, but size and carrying weight were the important things for me.
Shaun Barrera
On that first impression, I'm happy to recommend it.
The plain black finish drew me to this umbrella, although I wasn't sure how substantial a folding one would feel. The frame and fabric both seem nicely made. I was replacing an umbrella I'd held onto for nearly thirty years, so I'm fussy about quality. On that first impression, I'm happy to recommend it.

Been walking with this from my apartment to work, about a mile each way, there is a golf practice field along the route where the wind really gets moving and so far this umbrella has coped very well, it opens wide enough that I stay covered and doesn't feel awkward to carry, for the money I don't see why I would pay forty dollars for another umbrella doing the same thing, would feel fine recommending it.

Umbrellas have a following among Pacific Crest Trail hikers, tho gram counters will want to look closely at this one. I don't like kit that makes a big visual statement, so the straightforward look appeals to me. At roughly 390g it's not an ultralight umbrella, and the folded length is around 40cm. I find that an acceptable tradeoff for the folding design and automatic opening, but it still needs counting in the pack weight

We bought a pair for our girls.
We bought a pair for our girls. They are school age and the umbrellas give them enough cover without being awkwardly wide on the walk to school. Both are happy with how they look and the handles seem comfortable for them. The one thing i find a little fiddly is putting everything away neatly. The button gathers the canopy, then you have to push the telescoping part down yourself, which is normal but still an extra step. Getting the folds tidy enough for the sleeve takes a minute too. A good umbrella overall, just not quite as quick to pack away as i hoped.

As expected overall - two small points:
Wrapping the fabric neatly takes some patience, especially when trying to put it away in a hurry.
The oval handle could be a little more shaped to sit comfortably in the hand during longer walks.
Feels solidly made - hoping it last

Portable shade is a FANTASTIC idea.
Portable shade is a FANTASTIC idea. Chose the pink one as a Christmas gift for my very fair skinned mother. It fits in a roomy purse or can tuck into a suitcase, and the included sleeve gives her somewhere to store it. She hasn't taken it outside yet but she's excited to have a bit of shade handy when she wants a break from the sun.

It isn't just going to live in the costume box now either.
This was for my Halloween costume, a storybook nanny, and I spent quite a while deciding whether I wanted to pay this much for something to carry for one evening. In the end I ordered it because I thought an umbrella would finish the outfit off properly. I'm glad I did, because the whole costume made much more sense once I had it in my hand. I had quite a few lovely comments about the outfit and the umbrella was a big part of that. It isn't just going to live in the costume box now either. I've kept it with the umbrellas by the door because it is a perfectly useful one in its own right. The handle feels solid and the fabric and frame both look neatly finished. I like that it folds away instead of taking up lots of room. For a costume prop that I can carry afterwards as an actual umbrella, it was well worth buying.

An umbrella can say something about you too.
Dull umbrellas are not for me and this pink is JUST MY THING!! I saw it and thought, yes, that's the one...pretty, cheerful, exactly the sort of colour I like to carry. It doesn't need frills to have personality; the simple shape really lets the pink show. I ADORE it!! I don't want every practical thing I own to look dull; no thank you. An umbrella can say something about you too. Delighted, delighted with mine!!

My Christmas present and I absolutely love it!
My Christmas present and I absolutely love it! Closed up it is easy to carry rather than having a long umbrella sticking out everywhere. Open, the green is really striking, such an even colour. The underside is black (quite a contrast when you look up)I've been out with it in rain and it kept me dry, with a reassuringly solid feel. Liked mine enough that I bought another green one to give away. A really nice present to have received.

Having the canopy CLOSE at the touch of a button is my favorite part!
Having the canopy CLOSE at the touch of a button is my favorite part! I'm usually carrying things and have been using a cane since knee surgery, so not having to wrestle the wet fabric down is a real help. I still have to compress the shaft manually, but I can do that once I'm settled. The blue looks lovely, the cover is generous for a folding umbrella, and everything feels nicely put together. Money well spent!

It folds up neatly, and on windy walks it's been good.
It folds up neatly, and on windy walks it's been good. I did catch the wind awkwardly when opening it sideways one evening, so I avoid doing that now. My reason for four stars is the mess of putting it away wet. After taking it in and out several times during heavy rain that morning, the sleeve was damp too. Otherwise a useful umbrella.
Jim Donaldson
The gray umbrella looks just as nice in person as it did online.
The gray umbrella looks just as nice in person as it did online. The fabric and frame feel substantial, so I'm hoping to have it for a good while. The button does both opening and closing of the canopy, which is convenient -- you still have to press the telescoping part down yourself before putting it away. I would like that last push to take a little less effort, but it's a small thing rather than a problem. I'd certainly choose it again. Bring on the rain!!

Handy for taking my husband to his doctor's appointments.
Handy for taking my husband to his doctor's appointments. The automatic opening helps when I am also dealing with his walker. We can stand quite close under it, although it isn't roomy enough to cover both of us and the walker completely. Still a useful size to carry and I would choose it again.

I enjoy a lovely looking umbrella and this one really is pretty.
I enjoy a lovely looking umbrella and this one really is pretty. It seems nicely put together too. Smaller umbrellas I've owned have been awkward to operate, but this pops open smoothly with the button and packs away without a battle. Not the cheapest option, still glad I spent the extra!

Everything was in good order when it arrived.
Everything was in good order when it arrived. A good umbrella. Beige on the outside and black underneath, which is what I expected. A fabric sleeve is included for storage. Folded size is convenient to take with me and the quality seems good for using as shade, which is why I wanted it. As for rain and windy weather, I have not tried those yet so can't give an opinion. I would recommend it.

its lovely to look at but feels small over me...
i was really looking forward to this...its lovely to look at but feels small over me...i still like it, just wish there was more coverage for rain, and in the sun i end up shading mainly my face...for what i use it for the price seems a little high...maybe better for a kid, although my six year old sister wasnt keen because she found the shaft too long for her...

Living in Tallahassee means I don't leave home without an umbrella-weather can change its mind very quickly here. This one slips into the side pocket of my backpack, so I actually keep it with me. For a folding umbrella it feels reassuringly substantial, and the canopy gives me enough coverage without being a big thing to haul around all day.
Bailey Stanley
This replaces an umbrella I lost, rather than one that failed.
This replaces an umbrella I lost, rather than one that failed. I've tried a few sizes over the years, and this is a reasonable middle ground. The canopy has done well in the windy showers I've used it in, but the folded bundle isn't especially tiny. There is a noticeable bit of weight in the hand compared with a very small compact. I accepted that because I wanted better coverage. The loop is comfortable to hold, although I wouldn't describe it as pocket sized when packed away. If you just need cover for yourself and aren't trying to shelter a backpack as well, something smaller might be sufficient.
Yolanda Townsend
I appreciate that it folds down to go with my other kit.
I work on archaeological sites in the desert in eastern California, so keeping the summer sun off is a real concern. This umbrella has proved useful for getting some personal shade during the day. It feels REALLY solid when opened, and the canopy is a good size for one person rather than the whole team. I appreciate that it folds down to go with my other kit. When the wind catches it there's still a pull on my hand, but so far that hasn't made it troublesome to use. For fieldwork where you want some shade without lugging a large umbrella around, I've found it a worthwhile buy.
Victoria Compton
A solidly built umbrella with a good feel to the frame and fabric.
A solidly built umbrella with a good feel to the frame and fabric. I use it for golf and have been pleased with how it behaves when a breeze picks up. Living in West Texas, I pay attention to that. It is a folding umbrella rather than a huge golf canopy, but it gives me the cover I need and is easier to carry around. The price feels fair for the quality. I don't need fancy decoration, just something practical that opens easily and keeps the rain off me. This has been a very good buy.
Gregg Walter
something fun as well.
I was searching for something I could take along on my tricycle rides for a bit of sun and rain cover..and.. something fun as well. This folds up small enough to bring with me, then I use it when I stop beside the trail. I wouldn't try holding an umbrella while riding, but for a shady pause or sitting out a shower it's very handy. It's become part of what I take along, and the occasional smiles are nice too.
Rebecca Atkins
This gives me enough cover without being one of the long golf ones.
I wanted an umbrella that felt sturdy for my walk to work, and black is always my first choice anyway! I walk both ways every day so keeping my work clothes dry matters more to me than having the tiniest umbrella possible. This gives me enough cover without being one of the long golf ones. It isn't something I forget I'm carrying, but I'm happy with that trade off. In rain and the usual gusty stretches on my route it has kept its shape and kept me dry. I'd rather carry this than spend the whole walk trying to hold a flimsy umbrella straight.
Christopher Reid
Very attractive umbrella, with a nice finish.
Very attractive umbrella, with a nice finish. The cream white is lovely. The canopy is also pleasant for shade when the sun is out. Plenty of ribs, and the whole thing feels solid. The button opens it and closes the canopy without trouble. Pushing the telescopic shaft back in takes a firm hand, but that part is manual and gets it ready for next time. Overall a sturdy umbrella. Satisfied even with the effort needed to pack it away.
Teresa Barrett
It manages both, so four stars seems fair.
The look of this umbrella really appealed to me, although the material doesn't feel quite as substantial as some I've owned. I wanted something neat for going out and something to keep my hair from getting soaked-those were the main things. It manages both, so four stars seems fair. I already have two umbrellas, which are pretty necessary where I live. This will be the one I reach for when I want a nicer looking option. Only had it a short while, so I can't say much about how it will wear. The canopy feels light, but it has kept the water off so far and that's what matters to me.
