Someone has finally made an umbrella that suits what I actually need.
Someone has finally made an umbrella that suits what I actually need. My wife tries to keep out of direct sun, so having a decent patch of shade matters to us. The dark underside is pleasant to look up at rather than a bright surface overhead. We take it along to watch our daughter play soccer, and it's useful when a shower turns up as well. I bought two so we can each have one, rather than trying to squeeze together under a compact umbrella. It folds down to a manageable size for taking to the sidelines. A few people have asked about it already, which doesn't surprise me given how practical it is. The construction feels good, and for something we can use in both sunshine and rain I think it's money well spent.

Would buy again, its a lovely umbrella.
I like the way this looks as much as the way it works. The gray is nice and it feels sturdy in my hand. Been out with it when the rain was blowing about and it kept its shape fine. I can hold it high enough to watch where I'm walking too. Several people have complimented it already. Would buy again, its a lovely umbrella.
Hector Davila
From what I can see I recommend it.
Looks like a sturdy umbrella, the black fabric is neat and the ribs seem strong, the whole thing feels well put together. Waiting for some rain to test it properly (could also be handy for shade). Arrived quickly and everything was in order. From what I can see I recommend it.
Marc Marshall
The frame looks reasonably solid.
Surprisingly short once folded, considering the amount of cover you get when it's open. My old umbrella always stuck out of my backpack, whereas this fits right inside without taking everything else out first. The frame looks reasonably solid. Haven't used it enough yet to say much about how it'll hold up over time.

My wife liked this umbrella when I picked it up for her.
My wife liked this umbrella when I picked it up for her. It has an oval loop handle that feels easy to hold, and the beige outside looks neat against the black underneath. There is a sleeve included for putting it away. A fairly straightforward umbrella, but a smart-looking one and she is pleased with it.
Ricky Le
It has kept its shape when the wind picks up and kept me dry.
Nicely put together, though at this price I'd be disappointed if it wasn't.It has kept its shape when the wind picks up and kept me dry.It packs down reasonably small, but don't expect masses of space underneath it. Good for one person rather than something you'd comfortably share.
Linda Luna
This one brings me the same pleasure.
I first got into using an umbrella for shade while living in Asia, seeing so many women in Seoul carry them. This one brings me the same pleasure. People have stopped to compliment it when I'm out. The beige looks soft and pretty, and it has a nice feminine feel without being fussy.
Arthur Byrd
Everything looked as expected when it arrived, no trouble there!
Everything looked as expected when it arrived, no trouble there!
To pack it away, I close the canopy with the button, then shorten the pole by hand and settle the folds! Takes a little care to get it tidy. Not the smallest bundle, but for shade it is a very useful umbrella.
Edwin Powell
We are SO pleased with this umbrella.
We are SO pleased with this umbrella. Comfortable cover for me, or two of us close together. The button is brilliant when getting into the car: I sit down under the canopy, collapse it with a press, and bring it inside without wrestling with it. Then I push the telescoping stem down by hand. SIMPLE. Mom enjoys hers so much that Dad put one on his Christmas list, and my sister has one from me too. It was handy to order them online.
Krista Duke
For the money I paid, it seems a perfectly decent umbrella.
I needed better cover for me and the briefcase or bankers box I carry. My files always seem to end up on the wet side of an umbrella (I don't take up that much room myself). This has been good so far, though a large box still has to be held close. It looks fairly plain, neither particularly smart nor cheap. The sleeve could be a bit nicer, but it does what it's there for. For the money I paid, it seems a perfectly decent umbrella.
Gabriela Gross
I haven't tried it in strong wind, so that is still a question.
For our vacation I decided I'd better carry an umbrella, which isn't something I usually bother with. It's manageable to carry in my hand, and my wife can fit it in her larger purse. Opened up, there's enough coverage for me without feeling like I'm carrying something huge. I haven't tried it in strong wind, so that is still a question. The useful thing is that it actually comes along instead of being left behind, and this size makes that easy.
Rebekah Ross
A Great find at this price.
A Great find at this price. Roomy when it's up, solid feeling without being awkward to carry. I honestly thought it would be thin and a bit cheap until I opened the parcel. There is much more substance to it than I expected. The finish looks tidy as well. If your after decent coverage without a huge umbrella, have a look at this.
Emily Norton
So far it has kept the rain off.
Ordered a pair, one for myself and one for my wife. For what they cost I think they are decent umbrellas. We haven't had them very long and I can't say much about how they will do in rough weather or after a lot of use. It is comfortable enough to carry and doesn't feel heavy when it is up. I wouldn't describe the finish as anything fancy, it is just a useful everyday umbrella and that is fine with me. So far it has kept the rain off. Hopefully we will still be using these a couple of years from now.
Gloria Benson
Oh, this is nice.
Oh, this is nice. I'd read about umbrellas with strange backwards folding and others being heavier than you think. This feels light enough to me! It shuts in a familiar way, button first and then push the stem in. I prefer that to figuring out an upside down umbrella. I use one often enough that getting this seems like money well spent.
Leslie Villanueva
A decent folding umbrella if you want something fairly compact and…
A decent folding umbrella if you want something fairly compact and don't expect enormous coverage. I'm not particularly broad, but my bag still ends up sticking out when the rain comes sideways. I've left it in the car as a backup rather than making it my main work umbrella. Useful to have there, although a bit expensive for something I'm mostly keeping as a spare.
Alan Atkinson
Arrived promptly.
Arrived promptly. It feels light enough to keep in my bag, which is what I wanted for days when the weather can't decide. It is also pleasant to sit under in the sun. The frame looks fairly fine, not massively heavy duty, but it doesn't feel flimsy in use either. I'm happy with it. About the color, I expected a brighter green from the picture and in person it seems a softer green? Still nice, just not quite what I pictured. Something to bear in mind if the exact shade matters to you.
Brett Christensen
Only one outing so far but a good start!
Only one outing so far but a good start!Took it out in quite a downpour and it held its shape, with me and a friend tucked close underneath staying dry. Folded up it's longer than I'd pictured, which makes carrying it around a little less convenient than I'd hoped. Still, it does what I needed in the rain and feels like a good purchase.
Kristy Pope
They arrived quickly as well.
Umbrella looks smart and feels substantial - after a few uses I've already had people ask about it. Love the quick opening and the way the top draws shut, though pressing the shaft back down by hand needs a firm push. It's been raining constantly so I bought two -- beige suits me nicely. They arrived quickly as well.
Angel Richardson
More importantly, I've arrived dry.
Years ago on a college campus near the Great Lakes, I saw a whole crowd of students have their umbrellas turn inside out in the same gust. That image rather stayed with me, and for a long time I thought a raincoat was a better use of money. This umbrella has made me reconsider. The ribs have some give instead of feeling rigid and fragile ... and in the changeable wind and rain I've taken it through, it has stayed manageable. More importantly, I've arrived dry. It feels like something worth keeping in the car rather than another umbrella I'll regret buying. I expect to get plenty of use out of it. (Might need a second for the truck...)

Replaced an old golf umbrella with this one.
Replaced an old golf umbrella with this one. Wanted something for walks with my wife but didn't want another long umbrella to carry everywhere. Hadn't quite appreciated how useful the folding design would be until we packed for Italy. It went in the suitcase without any fuss. In Rome we had rain while we were out walking, and it was really nice having a proper umbrella with us rather than looking for one on the street. We could walk together under it, staying fairly close, and still enjoy being out. Doesn't have the enormous spread of our old one, but the convenience made up for that. Turned a wet day into a rather lovely walk.
Sophia Levy
For me that would be a worthwhile trade.
I tried this in a torrential Ecuadorian downpour and came away impressed. The canopy did its job, and the spring action is smooth rather than abrupt or awkward. I appreciate that sort of detail in something I actually use. One reservation. The oval handle is useful for carrying, but I don't find it quite as comfortable to grip as I'd hoped. My fingers feel a little crowded inside it, and holding it for a while makes that more noticeable. This is a preference issue, not a problem with the opening mechanism or the cover. I'd have preferred a slightly roomier grip, even if it meant the folded umbrella was less compact. For me that would be a worthwhile trade. Overall, a very capable rain umbrella with a handle shape I like looking at more than I like holding for a long stretch.
Dalton Campos
Absolutely love having this umbrella!
Absolutely love having this umbrella! It tucks into the lower compartment of my backpack (is that meant for shoes?) and opens out enough to cover me and the bags I'm carrying. Even with the rain slanting a little, I stayed pretty dry. Easy to take along, easy to use, what more do I need from an umbrella?
Don Johns
Tried the automatic opening and it moves very smoothly!
Still waiting to try it in rain, I got it as a backup for my wedding in case the weather turns. It seems put together well and I was pleased with it when I opened the parcel. The fabric feels a little lighter than the umbrella i already have, which is mainly why I'm stopping at four stars. The overall look isn't quite as dressy as I imagined from the photos either, though it may look better once it's been opened out for a while. I won't just keep it for the wedding, it will be my everyday one afterwards. Tried the automatic opening and it moves very smoothly!
Jay Hall
Its sturdy and looks real nice..
I left ordering kinda late so was glad when it showed up in time. Its sturdy and looks real nice..I been taking it out for shade when the days get hot and it makes being outside a lot nicer. People keep saying how pretty it looks. I definately like it and would recommend it! Im thinking another cream white one would be nice to have.

I wanted to have an umbrella ready for my daughter's February…
I wanted to have an umbrella ready for my daughter's February wedding, with no idea what the weather might do. It proved useful when we were outside for photographs after the ceremony. I liked the amount of cover and it looked smart without taking attention away from everyone. The material seems decent, and the size was helpful, although I wouldn't call it feather light. I did notice the weight while holding it for the pictures, but that is a small reservation. My other daughter has an October wedding coming up and I'll be keeping this ready for that too. Overall it served its purpose very well on the day, which was the main thing for me. It also LOOKED GREAT in the wedding pictures, both outside the building and around downtown!

For the way I use it, it's been very handy.
Heat exhaustion has made me much more careful about being outside. I had trouble when I worked along the southern border and again after moving to Florida, so even the short walk from a parking space to a shop can feel like too much sun. Having this umbrella with me gives me a patch of shade for those little trips. I still keep them short and don't take it as a reason to stay out in the heat. Friends have borrowed it for outdoor events and days at the park with their kids, so apparently I'm not the only one who appreciates some portable shade. It feels more comfortable underneath than standing in direct sunshine, without needing to find a tree or a doorway. I keep this folded one in my purse and leave a larger umbrella in the car. For the way I use it, it's been very handy. I'd happily recommend it to family and friends!

These seem like a good buy to me.
These seem like a good buy to me. The loop handle is different, and I can see why it might not be everyone's idea of an elegant umbrella. Personally I care more about how it works. My husband plays golf and is quite happy carrying this when he doesn't want his big golf umbrella along. It opens easily and gives decent cover without being awkward to take with you. For the amount I spent, I don't see much to complain about.
Mary Lambert
he was always buying another cheap one after a wet, gusty spell.
sent this to my son in tokyo, where the weather can be a real test of an umbrella. he was always buying another cheap one after a wet, gusty spell. over the last year this one has held up well, even when he saw others turning inside out nearby. not the cheapest choice, but buying fewer throwaway umbrellas makes the price easier to justify. i'd rather pay once for something he's getting proper use from than keep replacing the cheaper ones.
Molly Yang
I'm delighted with this umbrella.
I'm delighted with this umbrella. Taking it out of the package, it looked the way I hoped it would from the pictures. The finish seems good & it has worked smoothly every time I've used it. I think it should last quite a while. I like having something a little different, and the oval loop handle has had a few comments already. It is nice when something bought online turns out to be just what you wanted, makes me much happier about buying that way again

So far this has felt solid and done its job in the rain.
Rain is a regular thing where I live, so an umbrella gets used rather than sitting in a cupboard. I carried my old automatic one for years before losing it. Most of the little folding ones I see locally don't give me enough cover, which is why I went looking for this size again. This one folds to a manageable length but opens wide enough to keep me properly covered. The quick button close is handy when getting into the car; I just compress the shaft afterwards. That's all I need.I'm not expecting any umbrella to be indestructible, and I do take care of them. So far this has felt solid and done its job in the rain. Yes, I would recommend it.

BTW - I hadn't really considered a compact umbrella for this before.
Had this a couple of weeks now and it took two outings to remember to bring it to the golf course... pretty typical for us! Once we remembered, I wondered why I'd been walking round without my own shade all this time. Hubby plays and I'm generally the spectator, so I get plenty of use out of it just following along. If we return to the couples' league we played in last year, I'd be tempted to have one each.
A friend spotted it folded up and laughed about the spectator being better prepared than the players. I told him there was nothing stopping him carrying his own shade, either. More laughing. Apparently even a little umbrella is something to discuss while everybody's waiting to get going!
Anyway... I walk the course with hubby quite often and help push his cart. His friends think he's got a pretty good arrangement there, and I'm certainly happier doing it when I can get some shade too =D This one stays in my hand rather than on the cart, so there's a bit of working out where to stand when he's getting a club. I was in the way a couple of times at first. Nothing dramatic, just move over a little... we'll get the hang of it.
BTW - I hadn't really considered a compact umbrella for this before. The ribs have some flex, which is reassuring if a gust does catch us, though I haven't taken it out in anything particularly wild. I wanted shade and something for ordinary showers, not an enormous thing to lug around. Pressing the button to open it is handy when we're ready to start walking again.
I'm enjoying the gray, too. Quite plain but in a good way, and I don't feel I have to be precious about taking it along. It packs away neatly once I'm finished with it.
I did spend a while looking around before settling on this, mainly because I wasn't sure whether it would be another thing we left at home. Well... that happened at first, obviously, but now it's something I actually want to remember! A much nicer walk for me and I can still be out there keeping hubby company. That's really what I wanted out of buying it =D!
Emily Hopkins
My son is delighted with this umbrella.
My son is delighted with this umbrella. It has coped well with being carried about and generally handled the way a little one handles everything! The cream white looks lovely and the construction seems solid. I like having a button to open it rather than fiddling with a catch along the pole. He likes pressing it, and I help with pushing the pole down again after the canopy has closed.
Jonathan Walter
For me that's a minor compromise for having my own patch of shade.
Comments about putting umbrellas away nearly put me off buying this. Having used it, I don't think the folding itself deserves all that fuss. The button closes the canopy, then I press the telescoping part down and gather the fabric neatly. That's it, nothing mysterious. The sleeve, on the other hand, IS a snug fit if I have folded it in a hurry. I've had that with compact umbrellas before, so I don't spend ages fighting it. A careful wrap works, or I leave the sleeve off when it's going straight into my bag. For me that's a minor compromise for having my own patch of shade. It looks so pretty opened up, and it's comfortable to carry around. Glad I didn't let the packing comments make the decision for me!
Cristina Frazier
It still opens without a fuss, which is good after that much use.
Mine has had three years of regular use and has served me well. In wind I do pay attention to how I'm holding it, but the frame has coped and I haven't had trouble staying dry. It still opens without a fuss, which is good after that much use.I've been looking at getting another and the price gives me pause---I expected a compact umbrella to be a bit cheaper. The quality is good enough that I'd consider it again, but the cost keeps me from giving it the full five stars.
Stuart Moyer
I like how much space there is under this without having to carry…
I like how much space there is under this without having to carry a long umbrella everywhere. With smaller ones I used to get one sleeve soaked whenever the rain got heavier, so a little more width really helps! I should confess :P I haven't ever played proper golf, my umbrella testing is just getting about in wet weather. It opens promptly with the button and the canopy closes the same way, then you shorten the shaft by hand. The frame has plenty of flexible ribs and looks substantial when it's up. It looks smart as well, not just something I grab reluctantly when the forecast is bad. One thing to remember is that it opens out quite a way, so give the person beside you some space before pressing that button. I'm pleased with it, a useful size while still being something I can pack away and carry.
Amanda Hart
Rain isn't his only excuse for wanting it out.
My little boy is 2 and suddenly decided an umbrella was something he needed. I wasn't expecting a great deal, considering how rough he can be with his things. I picked this one because I liked the look and the price was reasonable. Now we've had it around three or four months - I forget exactly - and there isn't much to show for all the attention it gets. Rain isn't his only excuse for wanting it out. Sunshine, the sprinkler going, any of that will do. I help him with opening and putting it away, but he wants it nearby even at bedtime. Was not expecting him to be this attached to it, or for it to stay looking so good.
Molly Chang
A good umbrella for the money.
A good umbrella for the money. The frame feels nicely put together; I wouldn't choose it for the very worst wind, but for normal rain it's fine. Once folded it goes comfortably into my bag, and the button makes putting it up straightforward. No fiddly catch to wrestle with.
Edward Leblanc
The umbrella arrived neatly packed and looked just as expected.
The umbrella arrived neatly packed and looked just as expected. I bought it for my husband to leave in his car, since we like to have one handy in each car. It costs a little more than I usually spend on an umbrella, but it feels nicely made. I would happily recommend it.
Claire Ayala
Happy with the choice and would recommend them.
These gray umbrellas look very smart, not too fussy, and feel sturdy without being a burden to carry. Hopefully we won't need them for rain at my daughter's wedding, but a bit of shade could be welcome too...I spent ages comparing different umbrellas and prices before settling on these. Glad I bothered, as they look just right and seem good value. Happy with the choice and would recommend them. Thank you!

The ones I looked at locally weren't the colour she wanted.
I was trying to find a pink push-button umbrella for my mother-in-law's Christmas gift, and this was just what she had asked for. The ones I looked at locally weren't the colour she wanted. I'm glad I could find a simple pink one rather than settle for something she wouldn't use.

This umbrella looks even nicer up close and feels properly made.
At last I've found a housewarming present that feels right for my neighbors. This umbrella looks even nicer up close and feels properly made. I tried it in the rain and it kept me nice and dry, so it's useful as well as lovely. Can't wait for them to see it. SO excited.....

There are a couple of features worth going through.
This Haven umbrella makes a pretty good case for carrying something smaller. My usual point of reference is a full length umbrella, which I still think is useful, but it is a fair amount of umbrella to take along just in case. This one feels like a sensible everyday alternative, and the price felt reasonable to me.
There are a couple of features worth going through. The handle is a closed oval loop, rather than the curved hook on my larger umbrella. It gives my hand something definite to hold without needing a long handle. Press the button and it opens promptly. When rain starts, not having to fiddle with a runner is a very nice thing.
The canopy has a black underside, and there are 30 flexible ribs supporting it. Looking up into it, there is quite a lot of framework for something that folds down this far. I wouldn't take a rib count alone as proof of how an umbrella will behave, but it doesn't have that sparse feeling some small umbrellas have.
Weight is one of the more practical differences. At roughly 390g, this is much less of a commitment in a bag than my full length one. Not weightless, just manageable. I suppose that leaves a little room in the weight budget for a drink instead, which is not a bad trade.
The fabric and sewing look quite respectable. I don't see anything here that makes me think folding automatically means flimsy, though neither this nor my other umbrella is some masterpiece of tailoring. Folded length is about 40cm. That is compact enough to put away, rather than having a long stick poking out and reminding you it is there.
Opened out, it is about 105cm across. For one person in ordinary rain that is a useful amount of cover. My bigger umbrella still has more room around the edges, and I wouldn't pretend that difference disappears because this one is convenient. There is a tradeoff: more coverage on one side, less to carry on the other. For everyday use I lean toward less to carry.
The frame is another part of the comparison. My larger umbrella has the substantial feel you expect from its size; this has more give in the ribs. Different approaches, really. I don't automatically regard the less rigid one as the worse one.
Cost is the next consideration, and this is where the smaller umbrella makes sense to me. I am not paying for a great spread of fabric that I only occasionally need. For the amount of use an everyday umbrella gets, it seems a fair purchase.
The other difference is what happens when you put it away. A button press closes the canopy, but you still shorten the telescoping shaft yourself. Automatic doesn't mean that every part retracts on its own. I find that distinction worth mentioning, because the description can suggest more than it means. The button saves reaching up to release the canopy; the final push is simply part of folding it.
Mine is green, with the black underneath making a clear contrast. The overall appearance is straightforward, which suits me. My wife said she would be quite willing to carry this one too. That is probably a better comment on its looks than a lengthy description of the shade.
Oh, and the appearance when folded deserves a mention too. It looks like an everyday umbrella rather than a piece of sporting equipment. Nothing important in terms of staying dry, obviously, but it is pleasant not to feel that I am carrying half the golf bag with me.
For me this is a good compromise between coverage and portability. The bigger umbrella still has its place, but this is the one that is easier to justify taking along. A reasonable size when open, a much less awkward size when closed, and no need to carry extra bulk on the chance of rain.
Anne Krause
The opening action is smooth and it gives good coverage.
This is a substantial feeling umbrella, not something that seems ready to fold at the first puff of wind (always a relief!). I find the oval handle comfortable and can get a secure grip on it. The opening action is smooth and it gives good coverage. Those flexible ribs look pretty tough, so I'm hoping it proves just as useful when things get breezier.
Kevin Charles
Mine arrived nicely packed.
Mine arrived nicely packed. It looks like the photo, a plain cream white canopy. The oval loop handle is comfortable to hold. The umbrella folds to a manageable size too.Overall the finish is fairly basic, nothing luxurious; I wouldn't choose it for a serious windstorm, but for the money I'm happy with what it is... I would buy it again. It has comfortable room for just me. You could squeeze another person underneath, though I think you'd both be rather close together and not quite so well covered round the edges.
Regina Harvey
Happy I picked Haven!
California has had some much needed rain lately, and it showed me my old umbrella needed replacing. I really like how smart this one looks and how smoothly it opens. Happy I picked Haven! Choosing a colour took a while as several appealed to me, but pink won. Very stylish and feels like something I'll have for years!

If you want a really big umbrella then buy a really big umbrella.
I don't want to get into a fight with all the comments about what makes a decent umbrella. To me you have to look at how it is put together and what you actually want it for, not just decide a small folding one cannot be any good. some of these complaints seem to be asking it to be something else entirely. I read through plenty before buying and knew I wanted something for shade, not an enormous thing to carry round all day.I have been using it for a few weeks in the Texas sun and being able to take that patch of shade along makes quite a difference. It's enough for one person, which is all I need. the shade under it is nice and deep and it is more comfortable than walking with the sun right on me. I still pay attention when it's windy rather than expecting miracles. It folds away easily for carrying, and the opening button saves fiddling about. If you want a really big umbrella then buy a really big umbrella. For this sort of use it suits me fine.
Jeffrey Fleming
I was after a solid green umbrella and this has worked out well.
I was after a solid green umbrella and this has worked out well. The photos aren't much help with judging the size. Checking the measurements in the description gives you a better idea of that. Happy with it now I've used it. It is about 105cm across when opened and gives me enough shelter without being a huge umbrella.
Edgar Miranda
Love having it handy!
Brilliant for rainy days in NYC. Heading down to the subway, one press pulls the canopy shut, no standing at the steps fighting with wet fabric! You do push the pole in yourself afterwards. It's easy enough to carry that it stays in my bag ALL the time, so I'm not the one running along the street getting soaked. Love having it handy!

I've had this umbrella for two years and still reach for it.
I've had this umbrella for two years and still reach for it. My friend liked hers as well after I bought her one. Here in Los Angeles I use umbrellas for shade much more than rain, and this is my pick on the hottest days. I like the beige outside, and there's plenty of shade beneath the canopy. People have said nice things about how it looks. A hat is handy, but I feel much more comfortable with an umbrella overhead.
Edward Morris
I LOVE having this umbrella again!
I LOVE having this umbrella again! The first one was stolen so replacing it couldn't happen soon enough! I've been through enough umbrellas to appreciate a solid one. This has dealt with rain and gusts beautifully! AND there's room to tuck one of my children beside me if we need to share. Folds away nicely afterwards too! Just brilliant! :)
