my girlfriend and i wanted something we could share without being squashed together (we're both quite slim). This one has enough room for us standing close, with a little canopy past our shoulders. It opens out bigger than you would expect from the folded size and the frame feels solid. For two smaller people wanting to share, I would certainly recommend it.
Penny Cunningham
Finding the same one again was a relief, so I've replaced it.
I had one of these for over a year and it became the umbrella I always took along. It's fairly slim, not a great lump, and fits in the bag I carry most days. Once it's up there's a decent amount of room under it, which you wouldn't guess seeing it folded. It has also stayed the right way round in the breezy rain I've used it in. Then I left it in a restaurant and was so annoyed with myself when I couldn't get it back. Finding the same one again was a relief, so I've replaced it. If you want something that packs down but doesn't feel flimsy in use, I'd happily suggest this one.
Heather Henry
Happy with my little umbie.
Happy with my little umbie. It has managed Boston sleet and Miami downpours without giving me trouble. Small, yes, but it's a travel umbrella, not one of the big ones. For heavy rain or snow I have my raincoat on as well, and this adds some protection for me and my purse. Fits in my bag easily (not a bag that could hold my entire house...) and does a lovely job.
Daisy Cordova
Arrived promptly.
Arrived promptly. A neat little umbrella and a practical stocking stuffer. It can live in a backpack, bag or roomy purse until one of those sudden afternoon showers catches you. Not what I'd take for standing around in heavy sideways rain, but very useful as a backup. We're on the rainy gulf coast, so having something that's convenient enough to actually bring along makes a difference.

On the whole, this has been a decent replacement for my old…
On the whole, this has been a decent replacement for my old umbrella, which was coming apart. The frame seems reasonably substantial and I haven't had trouble with the button. I do find it a bit bulky once folded, even though it is a compact umbrella, so it isn't quite the easy little thing to carry that I had in mind.
Erica Bird
This umbrella has been just what I wanted.
This umbrella has been just what I wanted. There is enough cover for my head and shoulders, with room to keep my handbag tucked in beside me. It feels much more substantial than the flimsy ones I used before, and has stayed steady in the breezes I've had it out in. I noticed the weight for the first few outings, but don't really think about that now. Several people have asked where I found it, and one lady thought it would be useful for standing at her children's sports games. It looks smart and goes with whatever I'm wearing. I hold it high enough to see ahead rather than pulling it right down over my face. For me the coverage and solid feel are worth carrying a little extra!

Walking is part of my day whatever the weather is doing.
Walking is part of my day whatever the weather is doing. I used to just put up with getting rained on, but arriving at work damp got old. This umbrella has made a big difference and I wish I hadn't waited so long. It covers me properly in a downpour without being a great long thing to carry around. That was important because it needs to go in my shoulder bag. It also fits in the car door when I leave it there. Has felt steady on breezy days too, no wrestling with it so far. Would happily choose it again.
Katherine Sweeney
I can see keeping it in the car instead.
I misplaced the compact I'd carried for ten years and bought this to replace it. The thickness when folded was the first surprise. Even with everything wrapped up, the ribs make a bulky bundle rather than something really slim. Compared with my old one it feels nearly twice as thick and takes too much room in a small briefcase or carry-on.I can see keeping it in the car instead. The button opens it right up and also gathers the canopy down, which is handy getting into or out of a car when it's raining. For that job I like it.Summary: Useful car umbrella, but too much bulk for the small bags I pack for travel or carry on a commute.
Ashley Mcclain
A small rescue service.
A small rescue service. Not literally, obviously, but it's spared me a soaking more than once. The button action is especially handy hopping on and off buses and trains or getting into a car. Folded, it's reasonably compact for the coverage, although I do wish it were a little shorter so it would fit my purse. You don't get everything, I suppose.
Dan Morrow
People notice the handle whenever I take this out.
People notice the handle whenever I take this out.It works just as well as a regular compact umbrella, but has a bit more character. The black looks smart and the whole thing seems sturdy enough. The canopy opens and shuts with the button; you compress the stem by hand to put it away. There's a sleeve as well.Just be ready for someone to ask why you've got a loop instead of the usual handle!
Kelly Robertson
I don't want an ordinary umbrella after this.
I have bad arthritis in my hands and umbrellas are difficult for me especially with something else in my hand. This is a real help. Press once and the canopy opens, press again and it folds in. Still needs the stem pushed down to reset but I can manage that. So much less messing about with it now. I don't want an ordinary umbrella after this. Worth what I paid.
Patricia Romero
For the money it feels really nice, almost fancy.
For the money it feels really nice, almost fancy. Haven't tried it in rain yet, lets see. Big enough for 2 if close together i think. The loop handle is handy to carry, and the umbrella goes in my tote,, or backpack. Once the canopy shuts I push the pole Back in, quite firm which feels reassuring.
Edgar Wilkerson
The coverage is a bit limited if you like a really big umbrella.
Feels solidly put together. Haven't had it out in anything like a serious gale, but it has coped well with the wind so far. The coverage is a bit limited if you like a really big umbrella. Much nicer all round than the bargain ones I've had before. Four stars because I can't say anything about long term wear yet, and I would prefer a touch more room. Still a worthwhile improvement in quality.
Christine Gonzalez
Feels nicely put together, with neat stitching and a smooth action.
Not a tiny pocket umbrella, but I prefer that to opening something that barely covers my head. For me the balance is about right: enough canopy for a grown man with a bag, without carrying something that looks ready for a sword fight. It fits inside my bigger backpack and can ride along the outside of my messenger bag.Feels nicely put together, with neat stitching and a smooth action. A bit more bulk than ideal, but it has behaved well on wet, breezy days.
Kristy Preston
Its reasonably priced considering how pleased I am with it.
In Manhattan I seem to go through umbrellas all the time, so I did some looking around before choosing this one. It has been money well spent, gives good coverage over my hair and feels steady in use. A attractive umbrella too, people have asked on the street where I found it. Its reasonably priced considering how pleased I am with it.
Cheyenne Kemp
The whole thing feels solid without being something huge to carry.
Summer means watching our boys play baseball, usually sitting on metal bleachers with no shade anywhere. We had been taking a big umbrella along, but I still felt the sun coming through it. After finding this one a few weeks ago I decided to give it a go.It has made those long afternoons much nicer. The canopy gives a useful patch of shade, and I like the black underside because I don't have a bright surface above my face. Being a folding umbrella, it is easier to bring along than the big one. My husband and I can share if we sit close, although separate chairs need some careful positioning. The whole thing feels solid without being something huge to carry. We've also been caught by some rain and a bit of wind at the fields, and so far it has kept us dry and kept its shape.I think it was money well spent. Other parents have asked about it too. Update: I've now ordered another, as sometimes our boys play at different fields and my husband and I split up to watch them. Glad we have these.

I can't speak for everyone's weather or the way they use an umbrella.
Living opposite a big city park has taught me that the weather report doesn't tell you much about the wind on your own street. There is all that open space, then rows of tall buildings, and the air seems to squeeze itself down the narrow streets between them. You can get quite a surprise just turning the corner. It sounds exaggerated until you have walked there carrying things. I've had bags tugged out of my grip and my handbag lifted enough to make me grab at it. Sometimes somebody nearby has chased a bag for me, sometimes I've been the one chasing. You expect to watch that in a movie rather than be doing it yourself. That is why I am explaining so much about where I use an umbrella. For a long time I treated inexpensive umbrella's as something I would use once and replace. A few minutes on those streets and the canopy would fold backwards, leaving me struggling with it and getting wet anyway. After a rainy, windy day the bins around here tell the same story. I got tired of paying for something I was almost afraid to take outside. This one made me stop expecting that to happen every time. I still need to pay attention and keep a good grip, it doesn't make the street any less windy. But I've been caught in gusts that made me think, well this is where it gives up, and carried on using it instead. The loop gives me something definite to hold onto. What matters to me is finishing the walk under the canopy rather than wrestling with an umbrella that has folded over my head. It has had plenty of outings, not just one lucky test in a shower. After quite a bit of use I looked over the joints because that was where I expected wear to show first. Nothing there made me feel I needed to retire it. Then I managed to leave it on a bus a couple of days ago. Entirely my own doing, and I am still annoyed with myself. There are spare umbrellas at home but I don't reach for them with much confidence. While looking for another of these I read some unhappy reviews and felt I should put my experience here too. I can't speak for everyone's weather or the way they use an umbrella. I can say that this one earned my trust on streets where I hadn't had much luck before, and I want the same one again.

Since moving to Tampa I've found I need shade as much as rain cover.
Since moving to Tampa I've found I need shade as much as rain cover. Soo pleased I chose this one..the loop handle is comforable to hold and it's easy to carry..the canopy covers me for rain and keeps that strong sun off my delicate skin..I like having the automatic opening as well, just a quick press and I'm ready..this little umbrella really does the JOB..

Mine has been in use for over a year, and now I'm buying one for my aunt. The shade makes sunny walks more comfortable, though it can't do much about sticky, humid air. It's been dependable in the rain too and covers me nicely without being a huge umbrella to carry. I'm not gentle with my things and this gets put down wherever is convenient. Still looks good, still opens properly, and I haven't seen any wear worth mentioning.

I like an umbrella to go with what I'm wearing, and the cream white works with my summer clothes as well as my winter ones. It keeps me dry, dries off fairly quickly afterwards and hasn't given me trouble on breezy days. For something useful that also looks nice with different outfits, I'm glad I picked it and would recommend it!
Brenda Walters
An easy recommendation from me.
My job is in a shipyard, so the walk into work can be pretty breezy. Most umbrellas I've had have never felt up to it. I've been using this one for around two years and still think it's great!! It's handled my rainy walks well. I keep telling people at work how much I like it. An easy recommendation from me.
Calvin Gonzales
It looks rather different from most of the umbrellas around here.
Manageable to carry, a button that opens AND gathers the canopy, and a loop handle my arthritic hands find comfortable. It looks rather different from most of the umbrellas around here. One downside for me is the last part of putting it away - you have to compress the telescoping shaft yourself after pressing the button. That takes more effort with my hands, though I can manage it. With everything else working so nicely, that extra push is something I can live with.
Andre Avila
My only real reservation is the loop handle.
It feels reasonably light to carry, yet the frame seems solid. The automatic opening is useful and the canopy pulls together neatly when you press again. You do still have to push the telescoping sections together yourself, so the button doesn't finish the whole job. My only real reservation is the loop handle. I wear medium to large gloves and would appreciate a little more space to grip it. My index finger tends to sit higher, and my little finger doesn't find a comfortable spot. Not enough to put me off using it, but worth knowing if you have bigger hands. For the money I'm satisfied with the overall build.
Neil Best
I hadn't set my hopes real high for these at the price.
I hadn't set my hopes real high for these at the price. But they've held up with the family using them constantly, not only for golf. One goes with my push golf cart, another is by the back door for taking the dogs out, and I leave one in the car in case it's needed.
Heather Maxwell
When I next need one, I would be quite happy to choose this again.
After going through two inexpensive umbrellas in a couple of months, I wanted something more substantial. I've used this one almost daily for about two weeks now (spring in Boston). The ribs look considerably stronger than on my previous umbrellas, and it stays manageable in an ordinary breeze. The button functions work as expected. It springs open, and another press draws the canopy in; pushing the shaft down by hand finishes putting it away. The closed loop handle is useful, although I personally prefer a wrist strap. That's a matter of taste, not something that interferes with using it.Update-After two and a half years, I still feel I spent my money well. It has seen a lot of use and doesn't look new anymore, but it has been a dependable umbrella. When I next need one, I would be quite happy to choose this again. Never thought I'd feel sentimental about something that spends most of its life getting rained on.
Steve Mahoney
I do the button pressing and pack it down for him.
Carrying an umbrella is a big deal to my five year old, and he was pleased to have one of his own. Sharing with him isn't very practical though, since I'm considerably taller! The frame seems solid and the oval handle gives him something to hold onto. I do the button pressing and pack it down for him.
Daisy Shields
i really LOVE having this umbrella for shade.
i really LOVE having this umbrella for shade. The gray is attractive in a simple way and the whole thing feels durable. I live in Phoenix and use Public Transportation, which means a lot of time outside in the heat. Having shade while I wait makes a difference. I reach for it often and would certainly buy it again.
Meredith Hester
This was just what we needed.
This was just what we needed. I wasn't sure how the cream white would look for everyday use, but it is a really nice colour in person. My 7 year old daughter is much more excited about it than I expected and wants to be the one carrying it. She can work the button herself, which is a big difference from the other umbrellas we have around the house. Folding the canopy with the button makes things simpler too, then she presses the shaft down. We have only taken it out once so far. We stood in a queue for about half an hour and she stayed dry the whole time. No complaints from either of us.
Johnny Kidd
Pretty much what I wanted for everyday use.
Pretty much what I wanted for everyday use. The price was reasonable, and the quality seems a good deal better than I was expecting for it. It's a nice looking umbrella, gives me room to tuck my bag alongside, and doesn't leave me carrying a long stick around once the rain has stopped. I can walk comfortably beneath it without the edge right in my face. The button is handy when I'm juggling my bag as well. A good buy all round.
Janice Munoz
It's the solid feel that really wins me over.
Living in Oregon, I admit to being annoyingly particular about umbrellas. This one has met my standards for the wet weather here. I'm normally a sucker for dog designs, but the simple look of this one appeals to me too. It's the solid feel that really wins me over. I'd be quite happy recommending it to anybody.
Allen Petty
The price was another pleasant surprise.
My husband is impossible to buy for because he seems to own every gadget already. An umbrella for his birthday was something he wasn't expecting, and he loves it! The cream white looks lovely, it feels nicely made and stores easily in his car. The price was another pleasant surprise.

Compared with a full-length umbrella it saves space
There are several things about this folding umbrella that I appreciate. First is the framework beneath the fabric. The 30 flexible ribs give the canopy a well-supported feel, without seeming completely rigid. I can't judge their durability over years of use, but they look substantial enough that I'm not immediately concerned about bending one while handling it.
Opening is quick, with the button bringing everything into position without a struggle. Pressing it again gathers the canopy, although you still have to compress the telescoping shaft manually. That takes a little effort but is straightforward. The shaft feels solid when extended, and the oval loop handle provides a secure grip.
At approximately 105cm across, the open umbrella gives reasonable coverage for one person. The fabric extends far enough around me that I don't feel I'm carrying something intended only to keep the very top of my head dry. There is some give in the ribs, which seems preferable to a completely stiff framework when the wind catches it, although I wouldn't treat it as storm equipment.
The drawback, for me, is its folded length. Around 40cm is still quite a large object to find room for in a small bag. It fits more sensibly in a tote, and the weight isn't excessive, but it isn't the sort of compact umbrella you can forget you're carrying. Compared with a full-length umbrella it saves space; compared with a genuinely tiny folding one, the convenience is less clear.
Marvin Dunn
Button works fine.
Button works fine. Haven't taken it out in rain. I had expected more coverage, so I'm sending it back even though there's nothing wrong with it.It's about 105cm across when open and 40cm folded, which I guess is fairly normal for a compact umbrella. Just not the size I wanted.
Debbie Harding
Small to carry AND good in the rain --- brilliant!
City walks are much easier with this along. It covers me without taking over a crowded pavement, and I love the blue. Friends and colleagues have been asking where I found it! Now I just need to make sure I don't leave it behind somewhere. Small to carry AND good in the rain --- brilliant!
Kenneth Sanders
Considering the price, this is about what I hoped it would be.
Considering the price, this is about what I hoped it would be. It looks presentable enough for photographs or an occasion where you don't want a scruffy umbrella in the picture. I would still have an adult work the button for a little girl, since it opens with a fairly quick action. It isn't something I'd hand over as a toy. The gray fabric looks neat, though getting everything folded evenly afterwards takes a little attention. For occasional use I think it's a reasonable choice.
Alexandra Matthews
It matches the picture well.
Folded up it looks fairly ordinary, but I was surprised how much cover it gives when opened. It matches the picture well. This was a Christmas present for my daughter, who's a college student in Boston. She walks and uses the train every day, so something that folds down easily is a useful thing for her to have.
Olivia Fitzpatrick
Love my unbrella.
Love my unbrella. The beige looks lovely and there's enough canopy over my shoulders to make a real difference in rain. I can hold it high enough to see where I'm walking without leaving my head exposed. Makes me wonder why more compact umbrellas don't give you this much room -- it is much nicer than huddling underneath. It does have a bit of weight though, and holding it through a long windy walk can get tiring on the wrist. Still glad I chose it.
Isaiah Byrd
The Cream White is a soft looking white, not a harsh colour..
OK, after trying several umbrellas I was tired of the fabric rubbing thin and rain finding a way in. Gave this folding one a try and so far its been good, nothing coming through. It isn't tiny when folded but still much easier to put away than a long umbrella. If you want something that work for normal wet days this is worth a look. The Cream White is a soft looking white, not a harsh colour..
Felicia Mitchell
Already want a second one!!!
Already want a second one!!! Pretty umbrella and the button is so useful when my hands are full, especially going through doors. A gust did turn it inside out once, but nothing was damaged and it went back to its usual shape without a struggle. I was relieved that it carried on opening and closing normally afterwards, still very pleased with it.
Randall Hines
The feel of this umbrella is very nice, and it looks smart in gray.
The feel of this umbrella is very nice, and it looks smart in gray. Comfortable grip and the button makes opening it simple. Closing wasn't immediately obvious to us, but we figured it out. The button brings the canopy down, then you push the telescoping sections together yourself. This was a present for a 12 year old, who keeps it in a school backpack each day. Only a week's use so far, but no complaints. With a younger child I would still want to show them how to put it away properly. There is a bit of pressure needed for that final push and it isn't something to rush. Folded up it is manageable for carrying to school. I can't speak for long term use yet, just that the first week has been good. pleased.

Had this along on our camping trip last weekend.
Had this along on our camping trip last weekend. My wife and I sat close together under it during a light shower by the camp fire, and it was nice not having to move. The ribs have some flexibility, which seems sensible. There wasn't much wind that weekend, so all I can really judge is how useful it was in the rain.
Tanner King
The button operation is handy and has worked nicely.
Lovely looking and very roomy, and it's straightforward to open and close. Two people can fit underneath when standing close, so the coverage is good. The beige looks a little deeper in person than it did in the pictures. My four stars are mainly because I expected a longer center shaft. It won't matter to everybody, but a little extra length would suit my use better. The button operation is handy and has worked nicely. One press sends the shaft out and opens the canopy all the way. Another press folds up the canopy only; you still need to push the shaft down into the handle yourself. That takes a fairly firm push to get it ready to put away again, but I still find the automatic part worthwhile.
Roy Walton
They LOVE them!
My four and seven year olds had asked for character umbrellas, so I wasn't sure about choosing plain ones. They LOVE them! As soon as it rained they wanted to go outside and watch the drops running off the edges. Apparently standing around in the rain is a game now. Makes me laugh! They feel nicely made and the kids manage the button themselves. I help push them fully together after the canopy closes. There's easily enough room for each child underneath without them having to hold it just so.
Lorraine Terrell
Lovely umbrellas!
I ordered 3 for the flower girls at my wedding and I'm delighted with them! The girls were just as excited! They feel solid enough to survive my very lively little sisters handling them. Delivery wasn't as quick as I'd hoped, but there was no hurry so it didn't spoil anything. Lovely umbrellas!
Cheyenne Hubbard
Otherwise it has been a nice umbrella.
Cute folding umbrella! This was an extra Christmas gift for my girlfriend, and she's been pleased with it. Folded up it goes into her larger handbag quite neatly, though I wouldn't call it tiny enough for every little purse. Once opened it gives her a useful amount of cover without being a long umbrella to lug around. The one thing we've noticed is where her hand sits on the oval handle.. if her thumb creeps onto the button it is possible to close the canopy when she doesn't mean to. She's learned to hold it with her thumb away from that spot. In light rain it's not much of an issue, but when you're hurrying towards a restaurant or trying to get a cab, it can catch you by surprise!Otherwise it has been a nice umbrella. The button is convenient when used deliberately, and after closing the canopy you push the telescoping section in to pack it away. I'd choose something roomier if the plan was always to shelter two people together. For one person who wants a folding umbrella in a bag, it makes a good choice!
Isaac Ali
A substantial little umbrella...
A substantial little umbrella... pretty much what I was hoping for. Still waiting for a proper spell of rain to give it more than a quick try.Rather expensive, but the frame looks reassuring and the automatic opening is very convenient. The handle interests me more than I expected. I have had grips on indoor exercise equipment become unpleasant with use, so I tend to notice how a handle sits in the hand and whether it looks easy to wipe down. This closed oval loop is a different arrangement from the usual umbrella handle... comfortable for me so far, although I will be interested to see how it feels after longer use. Perhaps a slightly simpler shape would be easier to clean around. Overall I like the construction and have no regrets about choosing it.
Dorothy Williams
It has kept me dry fine.
My route across a busy parking lot and onto public transport gets pretty breezy, so having an unbrella that feels steady is useful. It has kept me dry fine. Only thing stopping me giving five stars is the loop handle, a bit bulky in my hand and not really shaped for my fingers.
Joann Floyd
Several months using this now and I haven't had any problems with it.
Several months using this now and I haven't had any problems with it. When opened it gives good coverage, though I notice the weight if I carry it around all day. Other folding umbrellas I've owned have not done so well on blustery days. This one has stayed in shape in the weather I've had, and the flexible ribs seem a much better arrangement than the stiff ones i used before. I don't always bother taking it when the forecast can't decide between sunshine and rain, as it still takes up room in my bag. When it is definitely raining, though, I'm always glad I brought it along.

I've been carrying this on my walk to work for about four months.
I've been carrying this on my walk to work for about four months. I'm on the east coast and have got through enough umbrellas in windy weather to be cautious about buying another. So far this one has felt steady and well made, and I haven't had that same worry using it. The oval handle is comfortable and a few people have commented on its smart appearance. It looks quite appropriate with work clothes, not fussy or flashy. Costs more than a basic umbrella, but the construction and the amount of cover make that feel worthwhile to me.

Living in Seattle, my umbrellas don't spend much time sitting unused.
Living in Seattle, my umbrellas don't spend much time sitting unused. I originally picked this one up for hiking, then found myself taking it to work every day too. It's been a great little umbrella - sturdy feeling, with ribs that have some give rather than feeling rigid. Mine has held its shape well on the wet walks I've taken it on. And it is NOT only useful in rain. On sunny hikes the shade over my head makes a surprisingly welcome difference, especially where there aren't trees. After several years of use mine is still looking pretty decent, despite not being treated particularly gently. Would I get another? Well, I've ended up with three more. One is a spare, one is for my wife, and one went as a gift to somebody just moving to Seattle. Seemed like something they would actually need! I think the amount of use we've had makes it money well spent.
