I bought it for watching golf tournaments.

I bought it for watching golf tournaments. A good choice! Waiting along the ropes for players to come through means a lot of time in the open, and carrying my own shade makes that much more comfortable. It's easy enough to take along when I move between holes, too. I'd say it's worth having for anyone who spends long days following the golf rather than just watching it on television.

The fabric sits neatly across the ribs.

The frame feels solid and has coped well with the windy days I've used it on. It is well put together , not a delicate feeling thing, and the action has a strength to it that makes me trust it. The fabric sits neatly across the ribs. I feel confident taking this umbrella out when I need it, and it folds down for carrying. A friend tried mine and wanted one straight away after getting fed up with other folding umbrellas

This has lasted months now, which is more than I expected when I ordered it. I do keep an eye on my son with it, no dragging it along the ground or treating it like a toy, and it's still doing fine. People say nice things about the umbrella, and about how sweet he looks walking with it. Even a reporter stopped to talk with him because he looked so cute carrying it (apparently he's the one worth interviewing, not me :-)

A practical purchase, and one I'm very satisfied with.

I'd reached the point where buying another inexpensive umbrella every so often seemed a false economy, so I started looking for something more substantial. There wasn't much locally that appealed to me, which is why I ended up choosing this one online in gray. It has turned out to be exactly the sort of everyday umbrella I wanted. Open, it gives me plenty of cover without having to hold it right against my head. Two people could squeeze underneath, though I consider it more comfortable for one. The frame feels well assembled (I haven't run into any of the issues I'd been worrying about before ordering). Pressing the button gives it a nice brisk opening, and collapsing the canopy is straightforward too. Rain beads on the fabric rather than soaking straight in, and the plain gray looks smart without drawing attention. I wasn't sure about the closed loop handle at first, but it gives me a secure hold. A practical purchase, and one I'm very satisfied with.

It feels much more solid in person.

For the money I wasn't expecting very much and thought I might send it back, but opening it changed my mind. It feels much more solid in person. Folded away it doesn't take up loads of space, yet there's a good amount of cover when it's up. Looking forward to getting plenty of use from this one!!!

I ordered these in pink for our wedding party as the forecast was looking wet. Thankfully the rain stayed away so they weren't needed, but the look was exactly what i had hoped for. They open up to a useful size and would have been so pretty in the photographs!

Excellent umbrella and value.

To only say I'm impressed would hardly cover it. The blue against that black underside is wonderful. There is an expensive feel here, without the expensive price. Really good construction and finish. My main complaint (nearly cost a star) is the attention it attracts. People were stopping me to ask and comment about it when I only wanted to get to where I was going. Excellent umbrella and value.

Most were too small and didn't last.

Ordered this for my wife, who had been using whatever old umbrella was around. Most were too small and didn't last. She likes having proper coverage with this one without carrying a huge long umbrella. It seems sturdy and the button is simple to use. Her favorite part is being able to shut the canopy before getting into the car. Much less awkward when she has something tucked under her other arm.

Jessica Obrien

the canopy gives a good deep shade, doesn't look thin at all.

The finish is much nicer than I thought, even round the handle and the ribs. it has a bit of a new smell, hopefully some airing will help. green on top and black underneath. the canopy gives a good deep shade, doesn't look thin at all. i feel it was worth the money

I expected something lighter for a folding umbrella.

I expected something lighter for a folding umbrella. After ten months it has proved sturdy and coped well with the wind I've encountered. The drawback is how much room it still takes in my bag, as well as the weight. Useful when it rains, but not quite the easy everyday carry I was hoping for.

Claire Cline

For the amount paid, the quality seems very reasonable to me.

The parcel was neatly packed and the umbrella reached me in good condition. There was nothing damaged when I opened it, which made a good first impression. I spent a little time looking over the fabric and frame, and the appearance was very close to what I had seen in the pictures. The finish is tidy, the material feels pleasant, and there were no obvious rough areas that caught my attention. Having now used it, I am equally satisfied with the practical side. It opens promptly and the canopy closes easily with the button. The cover it provides is good for everyday rain, and carrying it folded is convenient. The design is simple rather than overly decorative, which suits something I expect to use regularly. For the amount paid, the quality seems very reasonable to me. It feels like care has gone into making a useful item rather than just making it look appealing in a photograph. Overall I am happy with both the condition on arrival and the experience of using it, and would consider buying another if needed. Recommended!

I would rather not have had to do it.

It looked so sweet when I opened it and I knew the person it was meant for would like it. Lovely to look at, and there's a good amount of cover for a folding umbrella. My husband and I can squeeze underneath (not with much elbow room!)The missing star is for the dust on it when I unpacked it . . . not the nicest first impression for something intended as a present. I couldn't see anything actually wrong with it, just needed a wipe before I could wrap it. A clean dry cloth sorted that out, so it wasn't a big job, but still. I would rather not have had to do it. Now it's sitting here looking pretty and I'm half tempted to keep it myself! It's cute, useful, and I know it'll go down well!

Jorge Dudley

this feels more solid.

Its a nice looking umbrella and I hope she gets a lot of use from it, Her previous one didn't last long.....this feels more solid. She needs help pushing the shaft back down after the button closes the canopy, but opening is easy enough. I wondered about spending this much at first, if it keeps going as well as it starts its worth it.

i'd read what people said before buying, the sleeve is alright but i reinforced the bottom a little since that's where it takes the pressure when i slide the umbrella in, probably just me being cautious, i like the umbrella so much i ended up getting another to have as a spare.

One of the most useful things I've picked up, honestly.

One of the most useful things I've picked up, honestly. The price was sensible and it feels sturdy rather than disposable. It slips into my bigger purses, so I can keep it with me between classes on campus instead of getting caught out whenever the weather decides to change!

Joshua Bennett

Solid feeling but not as much weight as I'd expected.

My new umbrella has already had an outing on the golf course. More coverage than I expected from something that folds down. There was a proper soaking of rain and it kept me dry while I was holding it. Felt steady, too. For a golfer who keeps playing when it rains this is a handy thing to have along. Solid feeling but not as much weight as I'd expected. Thanks for a useful umbrella. It will be coming out with me again.

Better than I had hoped for.

Better than I had hoped for. It was my husband's Father's Day present and he is delighted with it. I'd have no worries buying another from here.He likes it enough to wipe it dry after using it, which says plenty:)He really is so pleased with it.Thank you, from one COMPLETELY HAPPY CUSTOMER

The canopy covers me comfortably and it travels well.

I hesitated after reading comments about rain getting through at an angle, but haven't experienced that myself. The canopy covers me comfortably and it travels well. I'd prefer it a little shorter when folded, although it still fits in with the things I carry.

Terri Frederick

I'm happy with it.

My only real comparison is with little bargain umbrellas that seem to give up as soon as the weather gets breezy. This one stayed in shape when we used it last week, and my girlfriend and I could tuck under it together. It's cream white, has plenty of coverage, and actually did the job. I'm happy with it.

Guy Brewer

The oval loop handles feel sturdy.

These are for my daughter's second grade class project. The children are going to decorate them with fabric paint and put them in the school spring fundraiser auction. The pink looks cheerful and the umbrellas were nice and clean when we unpacked them. The oval loop handles feel sturdy. A press of the button gets them open quickly. I'm pleased with how they look, especially for what I paid!

When the wind got under it the ribs flexed quite a bit, i was expecting them to be stiff but there's some give there, Once the gust passed it was back in shape and I carried on, that's what I like about it the frame can bend a little instead of feeling like it's going to snap.

Makayla Hamilton

it does not shorten the whole umbrella for you.

It packs neatly into my shoulder bag, which is exactly what I wanted. During a recent trip through Normandy and England it came out several times, and the button was useful whenever a shower caught me. Opening it was straightforward, but I did need to get used to how it packs away. Pressing the button closes the fabric canopy; it does not shorten the whole umbrella for you. After that you push the telescoping shaft down by hand until it is fully reset. Then it is ready for the next opening. At first I hadn't pushed it all the way down and wondered why it wasn't ready to open again. Once I understood that last step it made sense, and it soon became routine. Close the canopy, shorten the stem, and it is ready to go back in the bag or be opened again when needed. I bought two in pink and expect to use them throughout the year. For the price I paid, I will be content to replace them when they eventually wear out..

Andrea Calhoun

used it yesterday and my clothes were dry.

i spent a long time looking at umbrellas for the right mix of price and quality. some comments had me worried about rain getting through. used it yesterday and my clothes were dry. 1-the canopy gives me decent cover and 2-it does NOT let the rain in. not a huge golf umbrella but a useful size to carry about.i think i picked well.

Angie Kramer

I LOVE having this along.

Around the Pacific Northwest you see plenty of umbrellas looking ready to give up. Mine has been a very welcome exception. On my walk to work and back there's a bridge across open water, and some days the gusts make it hard to keep walking. The rain doesn't always come straight down here either! I LOVE having this along. It has stayed the right way round when I've needed it, and once folded it goes into my backpack. There is something reassuring about pulling it out and knowing it's been dependable, a bit like having a reliable friend along.

Kristina Mercer

Looks good and seems properly sturdy.

Looks good and seems properly sturdy. What more is there? Our two year old finds it a little heavy, so I'd keep this for someone older who can manage it. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality, especially when so much of the stuff you get for children feels rather short lived.

Thomas Murphy

A little less weight would be nice as well.

I read 105cm in the description without really picturing it. Folded up, I thought, "that's not BIG at all". Then I pressed the button and there was quite a bit more umbrella than I expected. Not enough to shelter a football team, alright, but plenty for me and a bag. It feels solid rather than flimsy. The drawback is that the open canopy can still catch a gust, sooooo I wouldn't stroll along holding it loosely. A little less weight would be nice as well. For something that folds down, though, I think it gives a good amount of cover when the rain starts.

Shawna Stewart

None of them felt worth hanging onto.

For years I relied on umbrellas people had abandoned in coffee shops. Not proud of it, but I was THAT person. Then I'd leave them somewhere too. None of them felt worth hanging onto. This one is different:-No embarrassing battle with an inside-out canopy when a breeze picks up-My top half stays dry (below the knees is still a lost cause, obviously). It actually feels worth remembering to take home, which is a big change for me. Definitely worth paying for.

Warren Mahoney

I'll be returning it.

I was looking for something genuinely small to replace my old pocket umbrella, and this isn't that.At about 390g and roughly 40cm folded it is more substantial than I wanted to carry around every day.The umbrella itself seems decent, the button works and there's good coverage once it's open, so three stars feels fair. But calling an umbrella compact doesn't necessarily mean it will fit the pocket you have in mind. For somebody carrying a larger bag it could be perfectly useful, just not the lightweight little replacement I needed. I'll be returning it.

Kylie Mitchell

Has a bit of weight to it, but feels very, very solid.

my co worker wanted an umbrella that felt strong enough for windy weather. A few winters later he is still using this one.It has those flexible ribs and seems to cope well with the usual rain and gusts. Has a bit of weight to it, but feels very, very solid. Worth the money. I'd get one for myself except I leave umbrellas behind every where and then wonder where they went. Not the cheapest thing, but If you're someone who actually hangs on to your stuff, I think it is money well spent.

Brady Valdez

Overall, very very pleased with this.

what else is there to say? i feel like i own the pavement with this thing. good cover over me and no hunching my shoulders trying to stay dry. everytime i see ppl squeezed under a tiny umbrella i am very happy with mine. (the ones just walking in the rain to look cool made their own choice, not sharing with them). it folds down too, although still takes up some space to carry. Overall, very very pleased with this.

Mia Mcguire

This looks just right for that.

Very happy with this umbrella - almost looking forward to the next wet school run. I have to wait outside for the children and wanted decent cover rather than getting soaked while they're coming out. This looks just right for that. Thinking of getting my husband one as well.

Jodi Gonzalez

It really does pack down to a convenient size.

It really does pack down to a convenient size. I read the description but still wondered how useful a folding umbrella would be once opened. It slips into my bag for those days when rain seems possible. There's room over me and my bag, which is what I needed. The loop handle is a different shape from what I'm used to and isn't my favourite. I haven't tested it in rough weather, but in lighter rain it has worked very nicely.

Lee Johns

It came well packed.

The green umbrella looks smart, with a substantial feel and neat construction. It came well packed. The canopy is about 105cm across; the folded length is roughly 40cm, so those numbers describe different things. Compact here means folding, not something tiny for a pocket. There are 30 flexible ribs supporting the canopy. Judging by the build, I hope to be using it for many years.

Kirk Jensen

Have now opened it and used it in the rain.

I unpacked this today. The umbrella is black, with a black underside, and the sleeve was included. It looked rather long while still wrapped, so I left it in the plastic while I checked the description again . I had expected something smaller to carry and wasn't sure I would keep it.The folded length is about 40 cm, which is more useful to know than just the word compact. I wanted to see how much coverage that gave before making up my mind.I'll add more after trying it properly.Follow up...Have now opened it and used it in the rain. The canopy is about 105 cm across, a sensible size for one person. The ribs flex and the frame looks reasonably well assembled. The button brings the canopy down; the telescoping section still needs to be pressed shorter manually. Nothing wrong there, just worth knowing before trying to pack it away. It is staying, although I still find it a little long for my bag. Four stars.

Wanda Dunn

Keeps the rain off too.

Being an Earth Scientist, I spend enough time thinking about weather without wanting to get soaked by it. Needed a replacement for my old umbrella and this has been a good choice. Nicely put together, not a burden to carry and folds neatly. Keeps the rain off too.

Randy Payne

The pink umbrella came in good shape and was a gift for my girlfriend.

The pink umbrella came in good shape and was a gift for my girlfriend. She was delighted with it. It feels well put together and the button works smoothly. She's used it on windy days without it turning inside out. Based on that and how much she likes it, I would recommend it. Five stars from me.

Crystal Frey

It doesn't take over the space around my seat.

At my daughters' games this is much easier to manage than the big golf umbrellas I've taken before. When you're sitting in the bleachers there isn't much space, and I'm always conscious of catching the person next to me with the canopy. This size is far less awkward to hold and still gives me a useful patch of shade. It doesn't take over the space around my seat. It's light enough that holding it through a game doesn't become a chore, and packs away conveniently afterwards. Wish I'd switched to something this manageable sooner!

Living in Seattle, I spend a lot of the year getting rained on.

Living in Seattle, I spend a lot of the year getting rained on. People here have a funny pride about not using umbrellas--carrying one is a good way to get mistaken for a tourist. My walk to work is a mile each way, though, and I read as I go. Local pride isn't much help to a wet book, so I gave in and started carrying an umbrella. The tiny folding ones have usually lasted me only part of a year. They're convenient until a gust leaves the thin frame bent out of shape. The first thing I noticed about the Haven was how much more substantial the frame felt. The ribs have some give rather than feeling like little pieces of stiff wire. So far it's taken the breezes on my walk well, and done a better job of keeping my book dry than the smaller umbrellas I used before. There are a few other things I like about it. A button opens it quickly, and another press folds down the canopy; then I push the shaft back in and wrap it up. Its a useful size once open, noticeably more coverage than my little umbrellas without being some enormous thing that takes over the sidewalk. Holding it in one hand and a book in the other hasn't been a problem. The drawback is the length after folding. At around 40cm, it still takes up quite a bit of space, close to twice the length of the tiny ones I was used to. I can't just drop it into my backpack wherever there happens to be a gap. That's a nuisance, but I suppose the extra frame has to go somewhere. For the sturdier feel and the way it's kept my reading dry, I'm happy with it.

Angie Murillo

Why does rain seem to require such serious umbrellas?

Honestly. Why does rain seem to require such serious umbrellas? Everything goes dark enough on its own. WHY?? Is a bit of pink too much to ask when you're standing under a cloudy sky??I picked this one because the colour makes the whole business feel less gloomy. There's something funny about having this cheerful patch over my head while everyone hurries about looking miserable. Apparently the joke is just for me, nobody has commented. That's fine.I had a patterned umbrella before this and managed to lose it, so this is the replacement. It does what I need and I like using it. Still, I miss the look of the old pattern. Pink is nice, but a plain colour doesn't quite give me the same feeling.

April Lucero

I'm delighted with it and he keeps asking to use it.

My nephew is almost two and gets very excited about having an umbrella of his own. He likes things to go together so the beige colour was a good choice for him. This isn't a tiny toddler umbrella, I do the button and hold it for him outside, but he loves being under it. Nice neat stitching and it doesn't feel like a chore for me to carry around. I'm delighted with it and he keeps asking to use it.

Roberta Carrillo

The build seems solid.

Ordered this for my 5 year old son, who insists on being in charge of the umbrella. Naturally he can't cover me with it, he's not tall enough. The build seems solid. He likes the oval loop handle and pressing the button with me helping, though I still take over when we need to walk together in the rain.

Kelli Watts

Nice looking umbrella and it seems sturdily put together.

Nice looking umbrella and it seems sturdily put together. For the money I cant complain. The storage sleeve is a useful extra, keeps the folded umbrella looking TIDY rather than having loose folds poking about in my bag. I like things put away neatly so that matters to me. Would happily recommend it, and would consider another as a present for someone.

Margaret Lang

Everything moves smoothly, and it feels comfortable to use.

A reassuringly solid umbrella, with ribs that have some flex instead of feeling brittle. The loop handle gives me a secure grip (useful when the weather gets lively!). Everything moves smoothly, and it feels comfortable to use. The frame seems quite tough without being rigid, so I'm hopeful it will cope well when I get caught out on a windier day.

Philip Kaufman

My daughter couldn't have been more excited about her present.

My daughter couldn't have been more excited about her present. Apparently an umbrella is something you need beside you even on a perfectly dry day indoors. It took several reminders that the house wasn't getting rained on before I could persuade her to put it away for bed.

Kristopher Villa

I tell them it feels well made and has been good in the rain.

At first I wondered if this umbrella would be any good, but after it arrived, I am loving it. Friends and family have asked where mine came from, as they would like one too. I tell them it feels well made and has been good in the rain. With the quality I have seen, I would be comfortable buying more.

Steve Patel

It remains my regular umbrella for wet days.

After about a year I'm still pleased with how it copes with windy rain. Two small drawbacks for me: It's heavier than the little umbrellas I used before, and resetting the shaft after closing the canopy needs a fairly firm push. Nothing has stopped me using it, though. It remains my regular umbrella for wet days.

Kristie Campos

Folds down neatly and seems solid.

My wife was always borrowing my umbrella, so there's now one for her for Christmas. Folds down neatly and seems solid. The loop handle is handy at summer outdoor festivals if rain looks possible. I can clip it to a belt loop on my jeans and get on with things.

Joe Hendrix

It has felt steady in a breeze too.

I'd been wanting an umbrella with decent coverage that I could still pack away, and this has been just right. Since getting it in early April I've taken it on several walks in the showers. It looks smart whatever I've got on, but the main thing is I stay dry underneath it. It has felt steady in a breeze too. I'd happily choose the same again if I needed another.

Marie Golden

I like the umbrella, the handle seems well made, uhmm pressing the button opens it nicely and folds the canopy back down too, one thing though: pushing the shaft shorter takes more effort than I expected. After folding the canopy I can't just press to open it again, I need to push the shaft completely back in first so it's ready again, but apart from that I am happy with it.

Living on the north Oregon coast probably explains my enthusiasm.

Living on the north Oregon coast probably explains my enthusiasm. Rain and wind are part of life here, and this umbrella has been excellent! We still treat it with some care and leave it inside when the weather is really fierce. There is enough cover for us both standing close, and it makes getting out in the rain a whole lot more pleasant.
