Gave this as a gift and she was absolutely thrilled. Her daughter made a grab for it while we were all there on Christmas Day - LOL. Apparently they both thought it should belong to them. Couldn't be happier with choosing it, especially with all the laughing that went along with opening it.

It has that good solid feel I wanted for the kids.
This was what I was hoping it would be. I have a bigger umbrella that feels much the same in quality, and that one has been with me for ten years, so I had high hopes for this one. Looking it over when it arrived, I was pleased with the fabric and the way the frame felt. It has that good solid feel I wanted for the kids. I bought it with my daughter in mind, for rainy days together, but my three year old son decided he wanted it as soon as he saw it (even after I said it was for his sister?). I let him have it anyway. He is not gentle with his things, which is why the quality matters to me. I think this umbrella will give us a lot of use.

City living taught me to appreciate a decent umbrella.
City living taught me to appreciate a decent umbrella. In New York the wind gets funnelled between the tall buildings, and something that feels flimsy in your hand is not very reassuring once the rain joins in. This one feels substantial without being a great long thing to carry about. I like the amount of cover, although two people would want to stand fairly close rather than expect golf-umbrella room. The automatic opening is especially useful getting out of a car, and the button gathers the canopy when getting back in. After that, I press the telescoping stem down; simple once you know what the button does.I am also the person who leaves umbrellas behind in restaurants, etc., so I appreciate a practical umbrella at a sensible price. BTW, a compact umbrella still needs a bit of space in the bag - this isn't one of those tiny featherweight things! That suits me; I'd rather have the reassuring feel of this frame. It arrived promptly as well, which was welcome. Plenty to like here without making an everyday object complicated!!! A good purchase!

Easy to hold even with a little breeze.
I take my walk every day whatever the weather is doing. Rain is what I have to deal with most here. One hand is occupied with an umbrella for the whole walk,so it matters how it feels. With this one just press the button and it opens itself. Easy to hold even with a little breeze. After looking at several umbrellas I chose this one for the value. I would recommend it.

What a lovely solid umbrella!
What a lovely solid umbrella! The fabric feels substantial and those flexible ribs give it a sturdy feel. Opens wide but folds into a manageable package, with a really useful oval handle. Having the button makes it so convenient. Couldn't be happier with it 💚
Tristan House
My son was very pleased with it!
It looked a little different to what I had imagined from the photos, especially the oval loop at the bottom. It is a closed loop, not an open hook. My son was very pleased with it! We've had umbrellas before that soon ended up bent, and this frame seems more substantial then those, so I am hopeful. Still something I would want him to look after rather than swing about. Once open it gives him plenty of cover, but I would think of it as an umbrella for one person, not two people trying to squeeze underneath. The button is straightforward for opening and folding the canopy. You do have to shorten the shaft yourself afterwards. I appreciate not having to hunt for a little metal catch to press, those can be awkward on the fingers. The gray looks nice and the sewing around the edges appears tidy. Obviously I haven't owned it long enough to know how it will last, but my first impression is a good one.

Nice umbrella overall, although I imagined something bigger.
Nice umbrella overall, although I imagined something bigger. Mine is around 105cm across open, which is enough for me but not the huge size I had in mind. Maybe I was thinking of a different sort?. The ribs have some give and the pole looks decent, not too much weight to carry. There was a bit of a new-material smell, not lovely but nothing I couldn't live with.... I've had much worse. For somebody wanting a reasonably priced umbrella with useful coverage.....I reckon this would be a sensible choice.

Anyway, very happy with how this gift worked out.
Picked this out for my girlfriend's birthday and she was very pleased. It has a smart, tidy look, though i can't claim to be much of an umbrella expert. I've tried holding it and it feels nicely put together, so she is happy and i am doing well on the present front. Not sure it would improve our chances in a zombie invasion... but staying dry is a start. Anyway, very happy with how this gift worked out.

It feels like carrying a little roof around with me.
It feels like carrying a little roof around with me. Covers me nicely and hasn't turned inside out on the windy days I've used it. I do wish it folded a bit shorter, because my small backpack won't take it and I have to carry it. I've left two on the train now, which is entirely my fault, but I still came back for another because I get on with it so well!

I do my walk every day whatever the weather is doing.
I do my walk every day whatever the weather is doing. Never bothered much with umbrellas before, but arriving at work soggy was getting old with all this rain. This has made a real difference, even when it comes down heavily. Chose it because I can put it in my shoulder bag rather than carry something long around all day. It also fits in the car door when I leave it there. For a folding umbrella it feels solid and has dealt well with breezy days too. Wish I'd made the switch earlier, I'd buy the same again.

Mostly take this along when I golf, for shade more than rain.
Mostly take this along when I golf, for shade more than rain. Enough cover for me without carrying an enormous umbrella round the course, and it doesn't feel too heavy. Standing under it is definitely nicer than being in the sun. Can't say what windproof really means, one gust gave it quite a tug and made us laugh, but there was no damage. Happy with it for what I use it for.
Jamie Nixon
Style: The shape is tidy and that oval handle looks good.
An umbrella shouldn't be exciting, yet here I am getting worked up over a damn umbrella. It feels properly supported, with thirty flexible ribs rather than that flimsy feeling I dread when the wind picks up. I've had it out in rain and it did NOT leave me wrestling with it.Portability: Folds into a manageable size without feeling like a disposable little stick.Style: The shape is tidy and that oval handle looks good. Nice.Bottom Line: For something I used to buy without thinking, this feels like a genuinely worthwhile upgrade. I'd happily choose it again.

Nice looking thing and I'd rather keep it that way.
I enjoy taking this out onto the patio with a beer. Sitting outside like that puts me in mind of the old town bar, just relaxing and watching the day go by. The umbrella seems well put together and gives my head some welcome shade without feeling stuffy underneath. I do have to hold it, of course, it's not a patio umbrella. The neighbors have admired it too, which gives us something else to talk about over a drink. I put it away afterwards rather than leave it outside. Nice looking thing and I'd rather keep it that way.

This one is lovely and works wonderfully.
love this one! There is a reason I was so relieved to find it. My Husband is a HUGE football fan and we had an umbrella he loved, until HE left it somewhere. Never saw that one again. We replaced it, and then it was my turn, I left the next umbrella in a shopping cart! Rang the store but nobody had handed it in . SO I needed another before he noticed what I had done! This one is lovely and works wonderfully. Now I am making a serious effort to remember where I put it. Surely between us we can keep hold of this one!!

One of my favourite umbrellas now!
One of my favourite umbrellas now! There's enough coverage that I don't end up with wet shoulders every time it rains. It feels reassuring in use without being an awkward full length umbrella to carry around. I've used it through our Florida summer showers and it's done very nicely. Definitely worth recommending.
Becky Knight
Had been after a Large umbrella for using with the stroller, etc.
Had been after a Large umbrella for using with the stroller, etc. This seems a decent choice. There's enough cover for what I need, although I have to keep it positioned carefully rather than expecting it to cover everything. The opening mechanism feels positive and the frame seems well made. Overall a useful umbrella without being enormous.
Misty Henderson
Wearing a suit through a DC summer is no fun.
Wearing a suit through a DC summer is no fun. I've decided more men need to get over the idea that carrying shade is somehow strange. Open this overhead and the difference is noticeable straight away. Much nicer than baking in direct sun. It looks smart enough with work clothes too, and nothing about it seems flimsy.
Theresa Wilkinson
For normal rain, it has been great.
Can we stop dividing umbrellas into men's and women's? I'm a woman, but rain doesn't really care, and neither should an umbrella. Anyway, I like this one a lot. Folded, it is small enough to put in my backpack or a decent sized handbag without rearranging everything. Tiny evening bag? Probably not. It has a sleeve for putting it away, which I appreciate. Press the button and up it goes. Press again and the canopy folds; you still have to push the telescoping section down yourself. That's how it works, not something going wrong. It has a reassuringly solid feel in use, rather than that disposable umbrella feeling. Open, the coverage is generous for one person, though don't expect a whole family to squeeze underneath. You still need to mind other people on a busy pavement. Nobody wants an umbrella edge in their face. I haven't put it through serious wind, so I'm not going to claim miracles there. For normal rain, it has been great. Now the real challenge is keeping track of it instead of leaving it somewhere.
Brittany Carson
Seems to be a well made umbrella.
There's enough shelter for my head and shoulders without having to hide behind the canopy. Feels sturdy, and the breezes I've used it in haven't turned it inside out. Seems to be a well made umbrella. I think I'll get a long use from it. It's had several outings already in wet boston weather.
Makayla Hunter
I went with blue and am pleased with how it looks.
I went with blue and am pleased with how it looks. It's a bit different to my usual umbrellas and still quite pretty. Haven't had rain to try it in yet, so I can't say much about wind. It opens with a press of the button. The price seemed good to me. Happy so far, just waiting to use it properly.
Bryce Shaffer
It opens without a fuss and has kept me dry.
Just what I was after in an umbrella, and it feels nicely made. It opens without a fuss and has kept me dry. Compressing the pole once the canopy shuts needs a firmer push than I'd prefer, so I take my time with that part. Apart from that small annoyance, I'm satisfied with it.
Julia Dyer
A noticeable step up in quality.
A properly made umbrella - the action is smooth and the grip feels secure. Spending a little extra seems worthwhile when everything feels this well finished. I've owned plenty of umbrellas and this has the sort of reassuring weight I look for. Hopefully it will be with me for years. A noticeable step up in quality.
Shirley Kane
Love how this umbrella looks!
Love how this umbrella looks! I've had some nice comments about it, though the overall finish is fairly ordinary. It's been useful for about two years, with rain only a few months of the year here, so it hasn't had constant use. The canopy size suits me well. I would prefer a slightly longer grip, as the handle feels a bit short in my hand. Happy with it overall.
Traci Cameron
Having my own patch of shade makes being out in the sun much nicer!
Having my own patch of shade makes being out in the sun much nicer! I can move it around to shade my face, arms and upper chest instead of trying to find somewhere to stand. Every time I put it up I am glad I brought it.It did need a little practice on the opening and closing. The button closes the canopy, but you still have to shorten the shaft by hand. On the first day I was hurrying for the bus, fiddling with closing it, and managed to trip over my own feet. I went down but both me and the umbrella came through okay. (Not my most graceful moment.)I would like it to pack a little smaller. It folds, of course, but it still takes enough room in my bag that I don't bring it every single day. Mostly it comes along when I know I'll be in the sun a while. If it were smaller and lighter I'd have it there just in case!Still a very worthwhile purchase and I am happy using it.

So the umbrella search started again.
Umbrellas generally annoy me. Trying to get along a Manhattan sidewalk in the rain with one feels like more trouble than it's worth. And when I finally find one I don't mind carrying, I manage to leave it somewhere. Every time.
Before a trip to France to see my wife's family, she warned me we were likely to have wet weather. So the umbrella search started again. I went with the pink one, mainly because it looked small enough to pack without being one of those tiny things that barely covers your head. No trouble finding room for it in my carry-on.
Paris greeted us with rain, naturally. We'd come up from Marseille by train and were tired, not quite awake, and ready for something to eat. No evening room service at the hotel, which meant going back outside. Out came the umbrella.
We stayed close together under it and actually got pretty decent shelter. Not acres of spare space for two, but much better than I'd pictured from looking at it folded up. Being hungry and tired is bad enough without soaking your clothes as well.
My favourite part, though, is being able to collapse the canopy with the button. Such a satisfying little convenience! You still compress the telescoping section yourself afterward, but not having to gather the canopy shut is great. The sleeve is straightforward, and I liked having that closed loop to hold when carrying it around. Nothing elaborate, just useful.
And yes, after getting home to New York I managed to lose this one too. Apparently liking an umbrella doesn't make me any better at remembering it. I'm getting another, which probably says more than anything else I could write. Absolutely worth replacing!!!

Rain hasn't got through and it has coped well with breezy weather.
I was glad to have a proper umbrella again after leaving my old one behind in a restaurant. The green looks good and I've taken it out several times over the last two weeks. Rain hasn't got through and it has coped well with breezy weather. Hoping I keep hold of this one, because it seems worth hanging on to.
Brad Caldwell
Not a giant family umbrella, but just right for me carrying my baby.
Being caught in heavy rain with my son made me realise I needed something that gave us decent cover without being a nuisance to carry. I can hold him close and keep the canopy over both of us. It folds away into a reasonable size and feels reassuringly solid when open. The pink is pretty too. Not a giant family umbrella, but just right for me carrying my baby. I'm almost looking forward to the next rainy outing so I can use it again!
Jill Shepard
This umbrella has been excellent!
This umbrella has been excellent! It kept me dry through a gusty spell of rain, which was exactly what I wanted. There is plenty of coverage without having a huge umbrella to carry AND the ribs have some flexibility. The loop handle is comfortable in my hand. A quick press has it open and ready, no wrestling with it. Very glad to have something this handy when the weather turns.I would happily recommend it.
Maureen Buchanan
Delighted with the umbrella!
Delighted with the umbrella! It feels a little delicate, which I had more or less expected. Actually getting it was the awkward part, as my parcel went missing. The people helping me were patient and kept in touch, and eventually it was all sorted out. Worth the trouble in the end.
Carol Warner
Size is useful and it feels sturdy.
It arrived later than the other things I bought at the same time, but the umbrella has been good so far. Size is useful and it feels sturdy. Getting the button press right and sliding it back into the sleeve needed a little practice, both are straightforward now.
Tony Daugherty
People seem to really like the cream white.
After two years with mine, it's still the umbrella I reach for on really hot days. I have a few I use for shade, but this gives me more room and I find the dark underside comfortable to sit beneath. A friend liked it so much I bought her one too, and she's just as pleased. People seem to really like the cream white. I live somewhere sunny and for me, carrying this gives much better shade than just putting on a hat.
Michele Kennedy
This feels made for regular use!
This feels made for regular use! In Las Vegas I mostly carry an umbrella for shade, and the breezy days can make that more awkward than you'd think. This one has felt steady and well put together during my outings. Sturdy...the sort of construction that gives me confidence using it again, rather than something I need to baby. A very satisfying purchase.
Lauren Davis
seems solid overall and i'd be happy to buy it again.
pretty close to what i had in mind. the black looks a little softer than in the picture but that isn't a big deal. i've used it for rain and for shade and it does both jobs. haven't tried it in much wind so can't comment there. seems solid overall and i'd be happy to buy it again.
Robert Clark
Pleased with how solid it seems...
I needed something for our school soccer games and the Beige was the colour I wanted!! The handle is comfortable to hold & there's enough room above me to stay covered without having to squeeze under it!! It folds down much smaller than I expected too, handy for carrying along!! Pleased with how solid it seems...although (good news for the players, I suppose) we've only had one wet game since I bought it, so it hasn't had a lot to do yet!
Darlene Brock
Smell has gone now and it looks lovely.
There was a strong smell at first, same as someone else mentioned. Had time before our granddaughter's birthday sowe opened it up to air and gave it a gentle wipe. Smell has gone now and it looks lovely. Haven't handed it over yet but Iam sure she'll be pleased with her umbrella.
Hailey Harrison
For the amount of coverage, the weight is excellent.
For the amount of coverage, the weight is excellent. Green wouldn't usually be my first choice and I did wonder whether it would look out of place away from a golf course. That's just my taste, not anything wrong with the umbrella. In person the colour is quite easy to live with, and I'm much happier carrying it than I expected to be.
Tristan Clark
We have had wet weather on and off since it arrived.
We have had wet weather on and off since it arrived. I have used this umbrella quite a few times now, and so far it has done what I need. Other reviews had left me uncertain, but I can't report any problems with the way mine works. The coverage is GOOD for something that folds, and the cream white stands out amongst the usual dark umbrellas by the door. There are more ribs than my old one had. I think that helps with the solid feeling, although I have no way to test what each one does. It dries reasonably quickly when left open indoors too. My older umbrella stays tucked in my bag as a spare now; this gets taken when I know rain is coming. My only quibble is the handle. It is a closed oval loop rather than a curved one, and the shape is not quite what my hand wants on a longer walk. It does the job, but I keep shifting my grip a little. Nothing serious and I still like using the umbrella. Just enough of a comfort issue to stop me giving it five stars.
Meredith Tate
works for rain as well
hello everyone this umbrella has been so nice on hot days i found mine at the fair we visit every year and it was baking hot that day so having my own bit of shade felt wonderful! :D pink is my favourite colour which made it even better i can use it for a regular walk without feeling like its something fancy and it folds away afterwards so it suits everyday life really well i would reccomend it if you like being outside but not all that sun on your head!PS. works for rain as well
Randy Townsend
It's so much less awkward getting into the car in rain.
There were cheaper choices, but being able to shut the canopy with the same button that opens it made this worth paying for. It's so much less awkward getting into the car in rain. A quick press deals with the canopy, then I can push the telescoping section in once I'm seated.

My husband works outdoors, so this was his birthday present.
My husband works outdoors, so this was his birthday present. I wanted something nice looking, but checked the build as well because it gets VERY breezy here. The frame feels solid and the coverage is good without being awkward to carry. He's delighted with it!

Plenty of compliments on my blue umbrella!
Plenty of compliments on my blue umbrella! I use it for shade as well as rain (so is it an umbrella or a parasol? Depends what the sky is doing, I suppose.) It looks good enough that I enjoy carrying it, and the construction feels properly solid. It has certainly had plenty of outings!Update: mine was taken from my shopping cart at the grocery store!!!!! Here I am looking for a replacement. Oh dear. Should I take someone wanting it that badly as praise?
Tanya Wallace
My husband tried it and now wants his own!
Took this out on my little boat today for shade and it was easy to manage. Sitting underneath was much more comfortable than being in the sun. My husband tried it and now wants his own! It reminds me of putting up the car sun shade, only this one comes along with me.
Heather Walls
Happy to recommend it.
I live in NorCal and today has been wet with some gusty spells. I've already been out a few times and this umbrella is doing well.It keeps the rain off without feeling awkward to carry. After all the rainy weather it's seen this year, I'm impressed with how solid it still feels in use.Happy to recommend it.

A practical everyday umbrella, no fuss to it.
A practical everyday umbrella, no fuss to it. Mine is pink. Push-button opening. Automatic canopy closure. Telescoping shaft. Thirty flexible ribs. Closed oval loop for a handle. Weight is reasonable for carrying around. A sleeve is included to put it away in.
Jonathan Townsend
Solid frame and a reassuring feel in the hand.
Solid frame and a reassuring feel in the hand. Haven't been out in anything especially windy, but it has handled the breezes I've met without trouble. Could use a little more width for my liking. A definite improvement on the cheap umbrellas I've had before. Holding back the fifth star because of the coverage and because I can't judge how long it will last yet. Overall seems a worthwhile step up in build quality.
Dominic Woodward
That was a pretty good test for me!
Walking along the pavement in heavy rain with two other people, their umbrellas both turned inside out when a gust came through...this one didn't. That was a pretty good test for me! I'm not expecting miracles, enough wind will catch any umbrella if it hits from underneath, but I've been impressed with how steady this feels. The canopy gives decent coverage instead of leaving my shoulders hanging out. Still have to watch the direction the rain is coming from of course. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned.
Candice Montgomery
Good amount of shelter, too.
Packed this for Ireland and was glad I did. A press opens it straight away, and another press folds the canopy. You still compress the telescoping section yourself before wrapping it up. Useful with the rain coming and going nearly every day. I almost left it behind because it isn't the tiniest umbrella, but it went into my daypack and earned its space. Good amount of shelter, too.The simple finish looks nice- nothing fussy to get tired of. Spent ages choosing something to travel with, probably longer than anyone needs to spend thinking about umbrellas. This turned out to be a very good choice.
Victor Spencer
Very nice gift overall.
An umbrella present for my boyfriend and it went down very well!Looks nice when folded, the loop handle is different from the usual ones, and he likes that simple look. Additionally the quality seems good so it isn't just a nice-looking thing that never gets used. It gives a decent amount of cover. However, i don't recommed thinking compact means it fits any pocket... still need a proper bit of bag space for it. Very nice gift overall.
Laurie Pratt
The manual umbrella can stay in the car now as my backup.
My old umbrella needed opening by hand, so the automatic opening was the main reason I went for this one. Leaving early on a chilly, wet morning makes that button more useful than it might seem when you are trying it indoors. I would not dismiss this one just because it is described as compact, even if you are tall. There is enough room across my shoulders without having to carry an enormous umbrella around.
When the rain is coming towards me I tip the canopy into it instead of holding it directly overhead. My upper clothes stay dry that way, though I wouldn't expect this size to protect my legs as well. It measures about 105cm across when open, which tells me more about the actual cover than a measurement following the curve of the material. The flexible ribs have handled the ordinary gusts I've encountered well, and so far I have not had it turn inside out.
The button sends it up promptly without any pushing from me. Pressing it again brings the canopy closed, and then the shaft needs pushing down by hand. That arrangement works well for getting it put away.
If I could change anything I would have a couple of clear sections spaced around the canopy, just to make it easier to see ahead when holding it low against the rain. Otherwise it does what I wanted and I am very happy with it. The manual umbrella can stay in the car now as my backup.
Angel Hancock
A green umbrella is a pleasant change on a gray wet day.
A green umbrella is a pleasant change on a gray wet day. The color is cheerful without being fussy, and the material feels substantial. A press brings it up quickly and another brings the canopy down. Everything feels straightforward to use, so I have no hesitation in recommending this one.
