What a good choice for my wish list!

What a good choice for my wish list! My in-laws bought it for me and I have been so pleased. It feels solid and gives me much better coverage than the little umbrellas I've used before. I wasn't left with wet shoulders this time!! I like the gray colour too, and being able to open it with a button saves a lot of fuss when the rain starts. Couldn't be happier!

I love using this as a parasol!

I love using this as a parasol! I'm sensitive to the sun, so being outside during the day usually means covering up my head and face. This gives me a lovely patch of shade to stand under, alongside my usual sun precautions. It looks pretty too and I've had people tell me how nice it is. Best of all I can keep a bit of shade over my head without having a hat flatten my hair. It's easy to open and carry about. I'm delighted with it and would choose the same one again!

Two of us can duck under together if we stay close.

Living in NYC means walking through rain whether we feel like it or not. After a windy shower there always seem to be discarded umbrellas along the pavement. We've tried enough of them over our eleven years here to appreciate one that holds up on our usual walks. This one has kept us dry, hasn't inverted on us, and pops open with a press rather than a wrestling match. Two of us can duck under together if we stay close. It is such a relief to have found one we enjoy carrying. At last... a keeper!!!!!!

The big umbrella I tried first...

I wanted some portable shade for a cross country trip. The big umbrella I tried first...awkward to carry...why did I think that would be practical???This one suited me much better. I could walk, even hurry along with it...nice shade overhead and it packed away without being such a nuisance.

It feels secure to hold and the frame has some give to it.

Gives a comfortable patch of shade for two if you stand close, yet folds down enough to leave in the car. It feels secure to hold and the frame has some give to it. Being underneath is much nicer than standing in direct sunshine. We gave this one to a relative out West, and she's been telling us how happy she is with it.

Definitely recommended!!!

Paid a bit extra over my usual umbrella budget, which is risky for someone who forgets theirs the moment the rain stops. Hoped it would be as lovely in person as in the pictures and it really is. Nice size, feels sturdy, and pretty enough to make me try harder not to leave this one behind. Definitely recommended!!!

I picked beige and it looked just as nice when I unpacked it.

I picked beige and it looked just as nice when I unpacked it. Then nearly two weeks went by without a proper chance to try it, typical weather!! I did practise opening and putting it away while I waited. The button part is easy, getting the fabric back into neat folds took me a little longer. I don't bother making it look absolutely perfect every time now, as long as it's tidy enough to carry. I've had it out several times since and people have said how nice it looks! The cover seems quite big on me, but at 4'10" most umbrellas probably do. There is room for another short person if we both stay close. Trying to share with somebody taller is a different matter, you end up choosing who gets the drips...not quite the cosy shelter for two I imagined LoL

Stefanie Chavez

Happy to recommend it if you want a compact umbrella!

I've wanted something sturdy that folds up small for ages, and this has been a great choice. It's kept me dry in rain and felt secure in a bit of wind. Several people out walking have said how nice it looks. Happy to recommend it if you want a compact umbrella!

Quite small to carry considering the cover you get.

We get some serious rain along the gulf coast, and this has already had an outing on one of those days. I was going up the slope toward the prison entrance with my files (lawyer here). Shoes soaked, but I managed to keep myself and the paperwork out of the rain. It felt balanced rather than something I was wrestling with. Opens without any fuss from the button. Once indoors I closed the canopy, pressed the stem down and put it away easily. Quite small to carry considering the cover you get. Family and staff may be getting these too!!!

Nancy Reeves

Everything worked when I gave it a try indoors.

Seeing someone carrying an umbrella that looked almost like part of a painting left me wanting one I actually liked looking at. I wasn't trying to find that same design, just something a little more considered, and eventually this one caught my attention while browsing!I haven't had rain to try it in yet, but of course I opened it as soon as it arrived. The gray is a good shade, not too pale, and looks nicer spread out than I expected from seeing it folded. There is a carry sleeve as well, which I took off and inspected before getting to the umbrella itself. Across the top it's gray, with black underneath and quite a lot of ribs visible when you look up inside. A simple look, but that's what appealed to me with this one. The button opens it and also closes the canopy; you finish putting it away by pressing the telescoping shaft back into place yourself. Everything worked when I gave it a try indoors. I did get slightly carried away with the word compact though. It's about 40cm folded, as the details said, but in my head I had made that smaller without checking my bag! Entirely my own doing, I was more interested in the appearance than reading the size properly. So it won't be slipping into every little handbag I own. I'll take a larger bag when I want to bring it along, hardly a disaster. The oval loop at the end is a pleasing detail too. Hopefully some rain will come along soon so I can use it outside rather than just admire it in the house.

Danielle Pennington

I'm delighted with how much cover it gives.

A surprisingly generous canopy for something that packs away this small. Pressing the button sends it up and opens it; another press pulls the canopy shut (you then shorten the pole yourself before it's ready to open again). Very straightforward once you've done it once. I'm delighted with how much cover it gives.

Kristina Obrien

Based on that experience, I would certainly recommend it.

I spent a long time comparing umbrellas before choosing this one on the strength of the reviews. It has lived up to my expectations. It was packed carefully and everything looked tidy on arrival. Both the handle and the opening mechanism have a solid feel, and the overall appearance is pleasantly simple. My wife and I stood close under it in a good spell of rain and stayed dry. Based on that experience, I would certainly recommend it.

Catherine Villa

A lighter shade would have been prettier, IMHO.

The blue canopy is lovely, and I like the overall shape when it is open. What I hadn't really thought about from looking at the top in the pictures was how different it would look underneath. That black underside is very practical looking, but quite a contrast against the blue. It isn't a fault, just not quite the softer look I had in mind-- I notice it more when I'm actually holding the umbrella than I do when it's folded. I suppose the dark interior is meant to be understated, but to my eye it is a little severe. A lighter shade would have been prettier, IMHO. In use it does its job nicely, though, and the outside is attractive enough that I am keeping it!

Brett Hill

The fabric and stitching look carefully finished, and the loop…

The fabric and stitching look carefully finished, and the loop handle also has a nicely made feel. It is not the smallest or lightest umbrella to carry around, so I would not choose it for a bag that is already full. For someone who wants a substantial folding umbrella rather than the tiniest possible one, though, it is an excellent choice.

Travis Vincent

It is a very nice umbrella (the short version).

Better than a games console? What does that even have to do with an umbrella? Nothing really, except that I'm apparently excited enough about this one to make odd comparisons. It is a very nice umbrella (the short version). Smart looking, comfortable loop handle and a frame that feels reassuring without turning it into something enormous. But the part I keep going on about is the button. One finger and the canopy opens. That's it. When your hands are full and you're about to step outside, not having to fight an umbrella into position is a small but deeply satisfying thing. Press again and the canopy folds in; the shaft still needs pushing down by hand. No magic involved, just convenient. I also like that it looks fairly understated rather than like I'm carrying a billboard over my head. It does the useful bit and looks good doing it. Apparently that is enough to make me write this much about an umbrella.Enjoy staying dry.

Angelica Fischer

It did that and we were awfully glad we'd packed it.

Not normally a review writer, but this one made me want to say something. We took it on our Saint Maarten holiday and ended up with a couple of very wet days. My wife and I got a good laugh out of trying to manage everything in the rain, watching people wrestle with their umbrellas. This one was straightforward to use and kept the rain off us when we stood close together. I wasn't interested in a fancy looking umbrella, just one that did its job. It did that and we were awfully glad we'd packed it.

Jeffery Cherry

Five stars from me for the solid feel and good construction.

Five stars from me for the solid feel and good construction. Mum had been talking about wanting a smart umbrella, so I picked this one for her! She was delighted and and seemed so pleased I'd remembered. The spread when it's up is the best part to me. No point carrying something that hardly covers you! It gives her useful cover without feeling silly to carry around. I'd certainly recommend it. I did see a lower price elsewhere afterwards, so it might be worth comparing prices before you decide.

Gregory Krueger

This makes me smile when I see it.

This makes me smile when I see it. There are lots of Asian decorative things around my home, so I tend to notice how something looks as well as what it's for. It has such a pleasant look that I actually spent time deciding where to display it rather than hiding it away. Gives me that peaceful garden feeling and a nice excuse for a little daydream.

Dana Bernard

Opened up, it looks lovely as well.

Gave one as a gift & it went down wonderfully. The first thing she said was that she'd wanted a folding umbrella like this for ages, so I was pleased with my choice! I use one too & appreciate how little space it takes up when packed away. Opened up, it looks lovely as well. It's useful for a rainy forecast, but I've also found it handy for a patch of shade in the bleachers at sports events. A practical thing to carry that still has some personality!

Jonathon Mcmillan

Bigger opened out than I imagined, good shade overhead.

Bigger opened out than I imagined, good shade overhead. the oval loop is easy to carry and I like having the button for opening and closing the canopy. would've preferred the black underside to block a little more light, but it's still comfortable underneath. cream white looks really nice too. pleased overall :)

Susan Love

I'd had enough of wrestling my previous umbrella back into shape…

I'd had enough of wrestling my previous umbrella back into shape whenever a bit of wind caught it. Tried this hoping for something less embarrassing and it's behaved itself so far. There's also enough room over my shoulders to shelter my bag, rather than just leaving it hanging out in the rain.

Nicole Richards

A good umbrella is something I stick with.

After losing the umbrella I'd used for 10 years, I wanted a replacement I could be just as happy with. This blue automatic one has been an excellent choice. I also use a larger umbrella, but this is the practical one to take along. The construction is very good and it opens nicely. My daughters have had automatic umbrellas as gifts and love using theirs, which was another reason I wanted this style again. I'm really pleased with it and don't feel any need to look for something else. A good umbrella is something I stick with. The parcel came earlier than I expected too, and based on this experience I would be happy to buy again.

Henry Walls

Definitely my favorite so far.

An umbrella was about the last thing I expected to become particular about, but here we are. I haven't taken this through the really rough weather that finished off my old ones, so I can't speak for that yet. Still, the whole construction feels much more substantial than those did. I wasn't convinced by the oval loop handle in the pictures, but in my hand it feels right. Even though this folds down, it's comfortable to hold for longer walks. Definitely my favorite so far.

Priscilla Osborn

My fiance and I made quite a thing of the first big football game…

My fiance and I made quite a thing of the first big football game we watched together. I was making plenty of noise for my team and she decided that was reason enough to support the other side, the underdog apparently. So we spent the game telling each other why the other's choice was rubbish. I'm fairly sure she couldn't have named the quarterback, but her side won and I have been hearing about it ever since. This was my slightly grudging little "gag" present for her, though I figured at least an umbrella would actually be useful. She was much more excited opening the box than I expected, which was nice. It's not often you manage a joke present that somebody really wants to keep using. She's taken it out a couple of times now and has only had good things to say about it, so I'm counting that as money well spent :)

Shelia Lawrence

The handle also caught my attention.

With my wife away visiting family for the week, I apparently decided that an evening browsing umbrellas was a sensible use of my freedom. Exciting stuff. There was a reason behind it: I'd recently arrived home rather wet after a walk under our little umbrella, and the alternative in the cupboard was a golf umbrella that felt enormous for everyday use. Until then I hadn't given umbrella shopping much thought. Looking through the options, I wanted something fairly understated, useful, and not so eye-catching that leaving it at work would make me nervous. The beige appealed to me on that basis. Not a dramatic colour, which was rather the point. Out of the sleeve, the Haven made a good first impression. It's a tidy package and easy enough to carry, although it has more substance to it than the tiny folding umbrellas I've used. The handle also caught my attention. That closed oval shape looks different without making the whole thing feel like a novelty. I checked how the mechanism worked before doing my usual fumbling about with it. One press opens it, another gathers the canopy, and you shorten the telescoping section yourself afterwards. Once I understood that, it was straightforward. The canopy felt nicely supported when I took it out the following day, and it coped with the breeze and rain I encountered. Whether it'll be noticeably better in a proper downpour remains to be seen; for my normal walk, the coverage seems decent. I wasn't constantly trying to tuck myself underneath it. The beige looks good in person, too. Somehow I've now spent an unreasonable amount of time considering an umbrella and writing about it. My wife remains unconvinced that buying one warranted this much deliberation, or money. So far, I think it was worthwhile. UPDATE A FEW WEEKS LATER: I'm keeping back one star for the packing-away side of things. Closing the canopy is quick, but getting everything folded neatly enough to slide into the sleeve is less effortless, especially when it's damp and I'm in a hurry. It all fits; I just have to take a moment rather than stuff it in. That's a small everyday annoyance rather than a problem with the closing mechanism, but it's the bit I notice after using it. Nothing wrong with how it opens or keeps the rain off. I still enjoy using it, and the unusual handle has had a couple of comments.

Over the years I've owned quite a few umbrellas.

Over the years I've owned quite a few umbrellas. The beige colour on this one appeals to me, and it has kept me dry in light and moderate rain. Still, the overall feel doesn't convince me it will be my longest lasting one. I haven't taken it out in rough weather, so that is only an impression, not something it has failed at.

Glenda Harris

For an umbrella to pack just in case, though, it works well.

We already have bigger umbrellas, but when travelling and only expecting the possibility of rain, this is easier to find space for in a bag. It isn't a tiny pocket umbrella, and it has a bit more weight than I expected, but the size opened makes that reasonable. The sleeve is useful for keeping it together, though it is one more small thing to keep track of. It coped with the storm we used it in. I would still take something heavier for prolonged bad weather rather than expect this to do everything. For an umbrella to pack just in case, though, it works well. My spouse has one now too.

Sheena Barnett

For the price I have been happy with them.

I have bought this umbrella twice, not because the first one needed replacing but because it was useful enough to keep another handy. For the price I have been happy with them. There are a few things worth knowing before buying though. The pink is quite noticeable, so probably not the choice if you want something that disappears into a plain work outfit. One drawback is putting it away wet. If I slide the sleeve on as soon as I get indoors it is still damp when I need it again. Leaving it out first is better, but opening it to dry takes more room than you might think!! It has been fine in ordinary rain and a breeze. I would not expect to walk through a big storm without being careful with it. On the positive side, there is enough coverage for me without my shoulders getting soaked, and I do like the colour. The button makes it easy to get the canopy down at the door. You still have to press the telescoping part together afterwards, which is straightforward once you know. It does fold down, so carrying it to work isn't a matter of keeping one hand occupied the whole way. It is not especially light in an already full bag, though. For travelling with very little space I might want something smaller. For everyday use, or a family wanting a couple of umbrellas without spending too much, this seems a sensible choice.

Grace Ramsey

Everything else, very good.

Quality is very good, the one thing was having to wait a long time for it. Everything else, very good. It arrived in good condition and I think the umbrella itself deserves the five stars. I hope the waiting can be less in future, because for the product I have no complaint. I think less waiting would also help more customers to buy.

Bethany French

gray goes with so much.

I wanted something for my frilly outfits, but this gets used all summer in the hot Southwest... gray goes with so much. The canopy shades my shoulders & face nicely, and I love that it folds small enough to carry without a fuss! It hasn't got all the fancy trim of a dressy parasol, but for the money I'm already considering a second one!

Mandy Deleon

Makes a handy rain shield...

Excellent! Good size. We've used it in the rain now and the build feels solid. We're sports fans and usually take an umbrella to games, just in case. Makes a handy rain shield... The plain black looks great without being showy. Folds down neatly and getting it back in the sleeve hasn't been a struggle.

Roger Blanchard

As for shade, that is where I get the most use from it.

I've read some comments calling these flimsy, and I think people may be feeling the flexibility rather than poor construction. The ribs aren't completely rigid. There is some give there (can't think of a better way to put it), which hasn't been a problem for me. Mine has had plenty of use and still feels sound, so I'm happy with how it's made.As for shade, that is where I get the most use from it. Heat bothers me quite easily and having my own bit of shade is a real help when there's nowhere to get out of the sun. I feel much more comfortable underneath it than standing in direct sunlight! I take it on the trail and along in our kayak b/c I can leave my hat off and have some air around my head. Keeping it in the car means it's there when I need it, rather than sitting at home while I'm wishing I'd brought it.

Cynthia Cook

Bought it to replace my son's old umbrella.

Bought it to replace my son's old umbrella. The finish looks decent and he can hold it easily. He's in fourth grade and can work the button, though pushing the closed shaft down needs some effort. I give him a hand with that part when needed. For what I paid, I'm very satisfied.

Abigail Norris

Still handy to carry though.

Good coverage when I'm on my own, but sharing with my school-age child at drop-off is a squeeze. I'd prefer a little more room across it.Still handy to carry though. Closing took a moment to figure out: the button draws in the canopy, and you then press the shaft down by hand. Once I stopped expecting the whole thing to retract itself, it was straightforward.

Duane Massey

I really love this one.

Finally, a portable umbrella with a button that CLOSES the canopy too! I really love this one. I'm usually loaded down with things and need a cane after knee surgery, so one press to fold the canopy makes life much easier. It's nicely sized for a folding umbrella, the black looks smart, and the mechanism and ribs feel sturdy -- a really reassuring feel. Great value!

Donna Juarez

Winter rain in LA is why I wanted a decent umbrella.

Winter rain in LA is why I wanted a decent umbrella. This one makes those wet days a little more pleasant, and the canopy sits nicely over me without leaving my shoulders exposed. The material feels substantial and the frame seems well made. I feel like I have something that will last rather than something temporary. For what I paid, I'm pleased with the protection it gives.

Devon Hamilton

For years I've had umbrellas disappear after being left by the door.

For years I've had umbrellas disappear after being left by the door. That oval handle makes this one easier to recognise among the others, which helps when they're all left together. It won't stop somebody deliberately taking it, of course. I don't get quite the coverage of a full length umbrella, but I prefer having something distinctive that folds away.

Stacy Carrillo

Very good umbrella!

Very good umbrella! Quite substantial in the hand, fabric sheds the rain nicely. The button sends it open and brings the cover shut, then the stem is pressed down by hand. Thirty flexible ribs, looks well supported. More room underneath than I had thought from folded size. Everything pleasing so far. Thank you ♥️ Can recommend!

Alexis Camacho

I love having this in the car.

I love having this in the car. My old umbrella finally gave up after years of use, so it needed replacing. For the price, this one gives me PLENTY of cover without being a huge thing to store. The opening button works beautifully and the canopy keeps the rain off.Really glad I went with it, it seems excellent value.

Devon Hurst

Both of ours are still going after more than a year.

Both of ours are still going after more than a year. I got tired of flimsy umbrellas that bent out of shape or became a struggle to use... These have been much better. No problems with either one, despite my kids, aged 10 and 5, not always being particularly gentle when they borrow them. That alone makes me pretty pleased with the purchase :)

Bernard Steele

and if the weather changes, I've got rain cover as well.

Having this umbrella along has made watching the grandchildren's summer baseball and softball games much nicer. My own bit of shade is WONDERFUL when the seats are out in the sun! I can hold it through the game and fold it away afterwards, rather than being stuck carrying a long golf umbrella around. It makes sitting there much more pleasant...and if the weather changes, I've got rain cover as well. (Ready for either sort of weather :-) I do like getting a bargain, so I hesitated before paying for an umbrella rather than picking up another cheap one. Now that I've used it, I don't begrudge the money. The construction feels good and it has been useful often enough that I keep telling people about it. For me it has earned its place among the things I take to games.

Eric Zuniga

Excellent coverage from an umbrella that folds down to about 40cm.

Excellent coverage from an umbrella that folds down to about 40cm. At roughly 390g it is quite manageable for its size. The button raises it quickly and folds the canopy again, with the shaft pushed down manually afterwards. There are 30 ribs and the framework looks substantial without being awkward to carry. Good value in my opinion, useful for rain as well as shade.

Collin Bartlett

We love using this umbrella.

We love using this umbrella. It gives me a good amount of cover and there is room to squeeze together if two of us need it. We took it walking the day after it arrived and, about halfway round, the rain really started. It kept us surprisingly dry considering we were sharing. The frame feels reassuring and the cream white looks lovely. I haven't tried taking it out just for shade yet, but I can see myself doing that when the sun comes out. It also folds up neatly afterwards. Nothing about it has made me regret buying it, five stars from me!

Terrence Booker

Such a solid umbrella, it doesn't feel flimsy at all.

Such a solid umbrella, it doesn't feel flimsy at all. I can keep it high enough to SEE ahead and still have my shoulders under cover. The rain here in the southeast can start out of nowhere and then absolutely pour. This has done a great job in it, including when there's some wind. My old umbrellas ALWAYS seemed to turn themselves inside out lol. This one feels much more dependable. Wish I'd gone for it sooner instead of putting up with those. For the price I'm delighted, and hopefully it'll be with me a good while.

Jasmine Smith

Not a glamorous job for an umbrella, but it gets used regularly.

We've used this for quite a while now, and for all the assurances that the weather around here isn't normally so wet, I seem to be reaching for it every week. It lives beside the back door so I can take the dogs round the yard without getting drenched. Not a glamorous job for an umbrella, but it gets used regularly. The ones I had before soon started looking tired; this one still looks tidy and the button works just as smoothly. A very useful thing to have ready when the dogs insist on going out in the rain.

Mitchell Fisher

I hadn't bothered with a sturdier umbrella before.

I hadn't bothered with a sturdier umbrella before. Usually just picked up whatever cheap folding one was handy, but seeing someone use this made me want to try it. What a difference! It feels substantial, there's room underneath, and I haven't ended up with wet shoulders. Very straightforward to operate as well. This is the sort I'll stick with now. I'd rather pay for one I actually enjoy using than keep replacing bargain umbrellas that never feel quite right. Would certainly recommend it.

Whitney Price

The handle is still easy to grab.

The construction looks very good to me The loop handle is solid and comfortable to hold.. Opened up, the canopy has a useful spread without being a giant umbrella. On a crowded sidewalk I'd still be careful, but my main use is walking the dog around our neighborhood. I wanted something I could put up quickly when the rain starts and not have to wrestle with at every breeze. So far it has suited that nicely. There are plenty of ribs underneath and the frame has some give, rather than feeling brittle. My small negative is that I need to arrange the folds a little before packing it away. Not a big problem really. Once folded, it makes a tidy bundle and the supplied sleeve keeps it together in storage. The handle is still easy to grab. I'm satisfied with it and would happily make the same purchase again.

Tanner Abbott

Try an umbrella.

One of my most successful Christmas presents, oddly enough. The five year old girl I gave it to was more excited about her umbrella than most of the toys! Nearly a year on it still gets brought out for rain, sunshine & playing about. We find the button simple, and I help shorten the pole afterwards. The blue is just right and she thinks it looks lovely. Want something a little girl will actually use? Try an umbrella. I would happily choose this one again. Very good buy.

Carl Brady

It looks lovely and it feels properly made too.

People have commented on how nice this umbrella looks whenever I've had it out. It looks lovely and it feels properly made too. It's been out with me in windy rain and the frame gives a little rather than feeling rigid and brittle. Mine has kept its shape afterwards, which matters more to me than just looking good. Attractive, but useful as well, not just something pretty to carry.

Jason Nunez

My daughter is 4 and would much rather carry this than put on her…

My daughter is 4 and would much rather carry this than put on her raincoat. Being able to use the opening button herself is the exciting part for her. The sleeve is handy for putting it away afterwards, especially as she wants it out to play even on dry days...
