This one is a much better size to keep with me.

Working in the city means leaving my car a few minutes from the office and walking the rest of the way. I already have a full size umbrella, but carrying that around all day just in case of a shower gets old. This one is a much better size to keep with me. Folded up it doesn't take over my bag, and then you press the button and there is a surprisingly generous canopy. I have room for myself and the bag instead of having to choose which gets wet. The one thing I notice is that you still feel a breeze pulling at it when it's open. I don't think a portable umbrella makes you immune to that, and the frame feels solid enough that I'm not worrying about it every step. For the short walk I actually need it for, it is doing a great job. I'd happily choose this again rather than lug the big one around!

This has done exactly what I needed so far.

For my commute into midtown I wanted something I could put away easily but wouldn't have to wrestle with every time it rained. This has done exactly what I needed so far. It feels solid in my hand and has stayed in shape on the windy walks I've made with it. Such a relief not to be the girl struggling with her umbrella on a crowded pavement. There is enough cover for me, without taking up half the sidewalk when everyone is trying to get past.

Greg Evans

The whole thing seems well put together.

I sent this to my daughter because she gets everywhere by bus or walking. She loves having enough cover to stay dry, and says it feels steady rather than flimsy when the wind picks up. The whole thing seems well put together. I ended up buying one for myself after hearing her praise it....and then left mine behind on a bus! Typical of me :-)

Something from my Goth daughter's wish list...

Something from my Goth daughter's wish list... meant for her birthday but she got it early when it was absolutely pouring and she needed an umbrella for school... I wasn't sure how it would manage at first, but it did a lovely job keeping her dry... that settled my worries. Would happily buy another one from the same range....

guess what got her back into work dry lol...

we were laughing at work about the umbrellas we used to carry so i gave this to a co-worker as a bit of a joke. she left it in her car & then got caught by a downpour on her break. guess what got her back into work dry lol...turns out the silly umbrella gift was actually useful. not just something to laugh about after all

I am absolutely DELIGHTED with this umbrella.

I am absolutely DELIGHTED with this umbrella. I have to watch how long I spend in direct sun, and being able to carry my own patch of shade makes going outside much easier. It is attractive enough that I actually enjoy taking it along. The frame feels strong and the finish looks tidy. For anyone looking for a portable bit of shade, I would happily recommend this.

He's been wishing for a rainy day ever since it arrived.

My grandson was so taken with this umbrella that I decided to get him one. A few of the reviews made me hesitate, but there's been nothing to worry about here. He's been wishing for a rainy day ever since it arrived. Everything feels nicely made and the button works smoothly, which he has demonstrated to me quite a few times already.

It feels a very good quality and the color is bright.

My son had been asking for an umbrella for ages, so I finally started having a look. There weren't many boys umbrellas he was interested in. Then I found this blue one, showed him the picture, and he was sold straight away. It feels a very good quality and the color is bright. He even wanted to carry it on a walk with no rain at all. I would recommend it for a kid.Note: we still haven't had a chance to test it in actual rain.

My wife has had one for a while and likes hers.

My wife has had one for a while and likes hers. My old umbrella finally wore out after about fifteen years, so this seemed a sensible replacement. Two notes-the button shuts the canopy (you still compress the shaft yourself), and give it time to dry open before storing it. Fairly obvious, perhaps, but useful to remember.

Brian Grant

The canopy is a useful size and has kept the rain off well.

Ordered a pair so there would actually be an umbrella left when I need one, as the kids borrow everything. These are nicely put together, open without a struggle and close up easily(!). The canopy is a useful size and has kept the rain off well. Would happily get another if these disappear too.

Green is her favourite colour so it seem a good choice.

My 6 year old granddaughter was staying with us for some of the summer. We had day trips planned and the forecast said rain, so I ordered this online. Green is her favourite colour so it seem a good choice. She can work the button easily and she is delighted to have it along on our days out

Our 9 year old was delighted with her Christmas umbrella.

Our 9 year old was delighted with her Christmas umbrella. She thinks having her own to carry is great, and I'm pleased with what we paid for it. I did wonder how it would travel in the packaging, but it was wrapped up carefully inside and came out looking fine. Nice to get something she's so keen to use. Thank you :)

The umbrella arrived quickly and was packed nicely.

The umbrella arrived quickly and was packed nicely. This was for my dad and we gave the button a try, all worked just as it should. No photo because he's left it at work already! It looks like the pictures and feels strong when held up. He was delighted with it. Many thanks 🙏

Haven't had any rain to try it out in yet.

Haven't had any rain to try it out in yet. I was expecting a more muted pink when I ordered - IT IS PINK, and very pretty :) I wanted something to go with my golf bag and this works! looks lovely beside it, the colour makes me smile. Opens without any fuss and there is a good amount of room underneath

Latoya Friedman

Worth every penny I paid for it!!

Such a solid little umbrella, I can go out in rain without imagining myself sailing down the street attached to it. FAR more reassuring than the flimsy one I used before, which never felt secure in a gust!! I've had no worries holding this one in wet, windy weather. Worth every penny I paid for it!!

Gail Leon

Have to say, this has impressed me.

Have to say, this has impressed me. The umbrella feels strong and looks good, just what I expected. The biggest surprise was how quickly it reached me in Brazil with an international delivery. I was prepared for a longer wait, so that was a real bonus. A very satisfying purchase.

Jeremiah Dorsey

My one reservation is coverage.

Only a month in, so I can't say much about how this behaves in really gusty weather. It looks smart, the ribs feel substantial, and the button sends the canopy up with a satisfying snap. My one reservation is coverage. I'm 6'6" and tend to need more umbrella than most people, especially if I want my legs to stay dry. The open span is roughly 105cm, which makes sense for something that folds down for carrying, but feels smaller over me than I had pictured. That's more a matter of my expectations than a problem with the umbrella. For everyday use I'm still very pleased with it.

Gregory Donaldson

My previous small umbrella lasted ten years and felt a bit steadier.

The build feels good and it has kept the rain off on the occasions I've used it. In a gust it needs a firmer grip than I expected, so I wouldn't choose it for really windy days. My previous small umbrella lasted ten years and felt a bit steadier. For everyday rain though, this is a useful replacement and I'm happy enough with it.

Brad Martinez

I've had mine for over a year and am getting another for my aunt.

I've had mine for over a year and am getting another for my aunt. Standing under it feels much nicer in the sun, though it can't do anything about that sticky humid feeling. Rain coverage has been good too, and it feels solid when the wind gets up. There's enough room for me without it being a nuisance to carry folded. Its still looking good after being dropped on the floor more often than it should be. I'm not especially gentle with my things.

Allen Barker

Nothing fancy to report: it does its job.

Nothing fancy to report: it does its job. Press the button and it springs open; another press collapses the canopy -- you still have to compress the stem yourself. That resets it ready for the next opening as well. It's a straightforward routine once you've done it. After a year mine is still going fine, so I don't have much else to ask of it.

Tara Valenzuela

The blue is nice too, looks tidy enough for work without being fussy.

Has handled the breezy wet days I've used it on without flipping over. Construction seems strong. The blue is nice too, looks tidy enough for work without being fussy. I'm pleased with the simple overall appearance and, more importantly, I get where I'm going without rain dripping down my neck!

Kelsey Mccoy

Good coverage overall, just not my favourite handle shape.

At 5'7" and usually wearing heels, I find the coverage just right for me. My bags aren't sticking out in the rain either, which was the main thing I wanted. It has felt sturdy when the wind picks up and carrying it doesn't feel like a chore. There is room for another person if we stand close, but not room for both of us to spread out. I still close it before coming through a doorway. The part I'm less keen on is the oval handle. It is a proper closed loop rather than a hook, and I haven't found a grip that feels completely natural to me. With a wet hand I have to pay a little more attention to holding it. Most of the weight feels above my hand, so after a longer walk my wrist notices it. Good coverage overall, just not my favourite handle shape.

April Aguilar

Easy to recommend something when you're this satisfied with it.

The umbrella turned up promptly and made a good impression as soon as I handled it. The quality is something I have already mentioned to friends. On the occasions I've taken it out, a couple of people have asked about it too. Easy to recommend something when you're this satisfied with it.

Albert Rojas

Overall a nice umbrella and I'd recommend it.

It has kept me dry in the Florida rain so I'm pleased with that. Went with cream white and think it looks really nice among all the darker umbrellas. Good coverage for the size and quick to put up. Closing the canopy is easy, but pushing the shaft fully down needs a little effort. Not terrible, just more than I expected. Overall a nice umbrella and I'd recommend it.

Logan Glenn

For what it is, a folding umbrella for one, i'm very pleased with it.

Its nicely made, feels strong, i like the oval shape of the handle. I was picturing a bit more room for two people though. On my own there's plenty of space, but sharing with a spouse would mean standing pretty close together. For what it is, a folding umbrella for one, i'm very pleased with it.

Bailey Martin

I really love using this for shade.

I really love using this for shade. People compliment it whenever I take it out and last summer it spared me some nasty sunburn. Being a fair skinned redhead I don't like putting all those sunscreen chemicals on my skin. This umbrella did what I needed...it came along to the Oregon Country Fair in 2013 in blazing sunshine, and my high school reunion, 30+ years on, at Paramount Ranch in Malibu that summer, also roasting. Having it tucked in my bag is like carrying a security blanket. I can make my own shade and still look nice! It folds up small without a struggle, doesn't feel heavy and is just so useful.

Dwayne Walton

Easy enough to keep in my everyday bag until the weather turns.

My old compact umbrella needed replacing, and this has been a good choice. The fabric and frame both seem nicely finished. Button operation is smooth. It shelters me (average build...might feel different for someone bigger) plus the messenger bag I wear across my chest without much sticking out. Easy enough to keep in my everyday bag until the weather turns.

Charles David

It also comes with a sleeve for putting it away.

For walking around the city in the rain, I wanted an umbrella that folds away rather than a long one to carry everywhere (especially when crossing busy streets with other things in my hands). This one is a useful size open and doesn't feel awkward once packed up. The cream white fabric looks neat enough for work, with a plain black underside rather than a pattern. It opens at the push of a button, and the same button gathers the canopy in; the telescoping part then needs pushing down by hand. Coverage: roughly 105cm across when open, which is plenty for me without an enormous canopy over the pavement. It also comes with a sleeve for putting it away.

Kellie Cooke

I help with pushing the shaft back down.

Really nice umbrella and manageable for my little boy with a bit of help. He's four and behind with fine motor things, so the button is easier for him than fiddling with a catch. I help with pushing the shaft back down. Had to borrow it my self after school drop off last week when the rain started. It covered me fine at the bus stop and didn't give me trouble in the city breeze.

Virginia Guzman

Waiting for buses in the rain is why I care about a decent umbrella.

Waiting for buses in the rain is why I care about a decent umbrella. This has been the BEST one for me so far. It feels solid when there's a breeze and I like being able to open it quickly before stepping outside. I'd still be sensible with it when the wind gets up, but for everyday journeys I'm very happy. A good choice if you use public transport regularly.

Margaret Trevino

Arrived as expected and everything looked in order.

Arrived as expected and everything looked in order. The umbrella feels strong, and I can hold it high enough to see ahead without letting rain onto my head. It has kept that light drifting rain off me, which is what I wanted. I find the size easier to manage than the wider umbrellas I've used, especially getting through the car door. The fabric feels substantial and the frame feels rugid without being awkward to carry. Once the canopy is closed with the button I press the telescoping stem in, and it fits back into its sleeve. I accidently caught the open fabric with the tip of some scissors and was relieved that I couldn't find a hole. Not a test I'd recommend doing. It dries out readily enough before I pack it away. So far it has been a very practical umbrella for me.

Ive read mixed things about the handle but mine feels good to hold.

Ive read mixed things about the handle but mine feels good to hold. Looks neat, its not uncomfortable like I had wondered. Here in Costa Rica our rainy season brings plenty of wind too. Out walking, a gust made the ribs flex for a moment and they went right back to shape. Nothing dramatic happened!! I just kept going and stayed dry. Alot of people notice the oval handle and ask about it. Funny how that little part gets the attention.

Alex Jacobson

Good quality for what we paid.

We needed something to leave in the car for unexpected rain. After trying this one, we ordered another so my wife and I don't have to share. We've had good service from an older umbrella for years, and this feels like another sensible buy. Good quality for what we paid.

Maureen Singleton

Arrived quickly and everything looked in good order.

Arrived quickly and everything looked in good order. The folded dimentions were right, I needed it to go diagonally in my luggage..and no trouble there!Recommended. My wife likes the beige finish and yhe handle is comfortable to hold. The frame seems solid as well, and it opens out to a useful size without being awkward to carry.

Karl Buckley

This umbrella has been excellent!

This umbrella has been excellent! Had a blustery, wet walk from the train to my office this morning and it kept its shape nicely. I could get on with walking instead of constantly fussing with it. The frame feels substantial without being a huge thing to carry. The opening is quick - press the button and it is ready. Press again and the canopy folds in; I then shorten the telescoping shaft by hand before putting it away. That part is straightforward, not some mysterious extra operation. The sleeve tidies it all up when closed and makes it neater to carry. To anyone expecting a tiny pocket umbrella... this isn't that. There is a decent amount of umbrella folded into it. I'd rather carry a little more and have the coverage when I need it. That is rather the point of buying an umbrella, isn't it.

Jason Coffey

But I am pleased with it.

I got this thinking of my 3 year old, who never wants to stay indoors when it rains. My first thought out of the packaging was that it might be too much umbrella for him. Folded up it looks quite small, then you feel the weight and realise it isn't a little toddler thing... I looked at the button and that closed loop handle, wondering how we would manage it together. Put it aside for a while. I had wanted something to make his rainy walks more enjoyable, not another thing to struggle with. A little later I gave it a proper try myself. The button opens it and brings the canopy down again, then you push the shaft back in by hand. Once I understood that part it was quite straightforward. It is something I hold for us, rather than leave him to operate. That made much more sense. The Cream White is lovely and he is happy watching the drops gather and fall off the edge. There is enough room to keep him beside me without us both trying to fit under a tiny cover. Could be lighter...But I am pleased with it. Was it worth getting an umbrella mainly because my child likes rain so much? For us, yes. He gets his little rain watching time and I don't have to hurry him straight back inside.

Tracie Contreras

The part I'm less keen on is putting it away.

People have commented that it looks like a proper umbrella when I put it up. There is a decent amount of cover, and it has felt steady in wet, blustery weather. The part I'm less keen on is putting it away. A press of the button folds the canopy, but the telescoping stem still needs to be pushed in manually afterwards. It is meant to work that way, though I sometimes find it awkward when my hands are full. So it isn't a case of pressing a button and having the whole thing turn into a small package. Also, folded up it is not as tiny as some umbrellas, which is worth knowing if you have very little room to carry one. I prefer to stop and fold it neatly instead of rushing that part. I haven't really used it as a sunshade, since rain was the reason I chose it. On that score it has done very well and I am happy with it overall.

Hunter Mcbride

The loop handle is easy for me to grip.

This has been a hit with my four year old. The beige looks nice and the canopy is plenty wide for him. He likes pressing the button while I hold it, I do the final stem compression when we put it away. The loop handle is easy for me to grip. Only thing I'd change is having beige underneath as well as outside (it's black inside, not that he minds, he just wants to open it again).

Shelby Dalton

The black inside is quite obvious when you look up, but the cream…

The black inside is quite obvious when you look up, but the cream white outside looks very nice, quite compact and at first it seemed a bit delicate, after taking it out though I don't find it flimsy compared to other folding umbrellas, goes back in its sleeve nicely for carrying in case of rain.

Darren Reid

This one gets used every time I need shelter from the rain.

I love the look of this umbrella and finally have one I actually want to take with me. It seems nicely made too. My husband had collected a lot of ugly umbrellas round the house, and I could never bring myself to pick one up. This one gets used every time I need shelter from the rain. Love it.**Update** A few months on and it's still going strong, with no damage. It's the umbrella I reach for first, so it hasn't just been sitting in a cupboard. Mostly it lives in the car, where having two kids means it gets shifted between seats and into the trunk, then back again. It certainly isn't spotless anymore, let's be clear about that, but everything works as well as it did at the start. The button still works smoothly and the frame is sound. Having used it this much, I'm even more comfortable recommending it.

Ricardo Melton

I love having this umbrella!

I love having this umbrella! It tucks neatly into the lower compartment of my backpack (the bit for shoes?) and opens with enough coverage for me, my backpack and my purse, even with the rain slanting a little. I'd recommend it to just about anyone. At around $15, what more could I ask for?

Joe Bray

I thought this would make a nice birthday present for my husband,…

I thought this would make a nice birthday present for my husband, and his birthday is only a couple of days away. I opened it up to have a proper look and the handle was much smaller than it looked in the pictures. It is a closed oval shape, which is quite neat looking, but I don't think it will leave much extra room around his hand. I had pictured something with a more generous grip, so that part has taken a bit of the shine off it for me. The fabric looks nice and the umbrella itself opens properly and gives decent cover, so I don't mean that it is no use....It is just that, as a present, I wanted it to feel completely right rather than something he would have to get used to. I'm keeping it because it works, but I wish I'd paid more attention to the handle before choosing his birthday present!

Aimee Hanson

useful in sunshine as well as rain!

useful in sunshine as well as rain! It gives me a bit of shade in the heat and isn't heavy to hold. the canopy has kept me dry too.It doesn;t become a tiny bundle when folded, even though it is a compact umbrella, so not one for a very small purse. fine to take along otherwise and i'm happy using it either way.

Dawn Holt

I've bought several of these now.

I've bought several of these now. I do a fair amount of travelling abroad and one nearly always comes along. Some folding umbrellas are so skimpy that I wonder why I bothered carrying them, but this opens out to a useful size. A couple have ended up staying with people who admired mine on a trip, particularly when I was heading home anyway and could get myself another.

Katelyn Mcguire

☞A Proper Umbrella Is Worth It, stop buying those cheapo umbrellas…

☞A Proper Umbrella Is Worth It, stop buying those cheapo umbrellas over and over and expecting something different. Think about the money that goes on flimsy, one-rain rubbish and spending a little extra on something solid like this suddenly seems much more sensible

Pamela Tucker

So i end up holding the umbrella anyway.

Needed airing! Had a smell when we first opened it so we left it out a couple days, after that fine. The button is simple enough for him to use. no little catch to wrestle with, just press to open. He likes it, but he's found the usual problem with carrying an umbrella- you only have one hand left for everything else. He wants to drag his wagon along and find worms when it rains. So i end up holding the umbrella anyway.

Zachary Choi

This one does a good job for both showers and a little shade.

I wanted a replacement for an umbrella I used to have, mainly for school games (top row of the bleachers, so I'm not in anyone's way). This one does a good job for both showers and a little shade. The beige is nice enough, although I'd usually go for something darker. On a long sunny baseball afternoon I still prefer more shade, but for a folding umbrella it's a useful buy. THANK YOU

Randy Andersen

There is good space under it for me and the quality is lovely too.

A blue like this has always been my favourite and I kept wishing I could find it on an umbrella. I was so excited to find this one, it is almost silly how happy an umbrella can make me. Now I just want to use it all the time. There is good space under it for me and the quality is lovely too. Friends at the office keep admiring it and people outside have commented on how pretty it looks. After buying another umbrella as well, I can say this one worths the money and not only for the colour.

Duane Mckee

Both boys are pleased with their umbrellas.

Both boys are pleased with their umbrellas. With one starting school it seemed time to have proper rain cover. They can work the button themselves, though I help push the stems down afterwards. Plenty of room over them and they feel sturdy. Mine are four and six.

Sandra Mcknight

Happy enough with mine that getting her one made sense.

Picked one up for my girlfriend after using one myself.Wind was my main concern, I walk into it quite a bit and wanted something that didn't feel flimsy at the top of the shaft. This one feels solid there and the ribs have some give instead of being rigid. I wouldn't call any umbrella indestructible, but in the wind and rain we've had it has stayed in shape. Happy enough with mine that getting her one made sense.
