The oval handle is nice.

Well, lighter in the hand than I expected. Feels properly made..ribs have some give to them. The oval handle is nice. One button, pops it open and folds the canopy back, then you push the shaft down yourself. Comes with a sleeve. Blue on top, black underneath. Shade..yes, that's what I wanted it for. Rain I haven't tried yet, so can't really comment on that part. I CAN say it is comfortable out in the sun. Time will tell how it wears. If it holds up..this could be my favourite umbrella.

I really did miss it!

I got my first one over a year ago and really liked how easy it was to carry. Slim little thing when folded, it went in my handbag without being a nuisance. Once it was open there was a proper amount of cover, which was a nice surprise. It also felt steady in wind instead of being something I had to fight with. Then I left it behind in a restaurant and was so annoyed with myself. I really did miss it! Seeing the same umbrella again meant I could replace it, and I'm just as pleased with the new one. For an everyday folding umbrella that you can keep in a bag, I'd happily suggest this one.

this one has made me very happy.

i have a few umbrellas and had been wanting a cream white one for ages. saw a display in a shop and kept thinking about how pretty it looked. this one has made me very happy. opens out enough to cover me properly and folds away when i am done with it. people have said nice things about it too. i have not had any trouble using it. i still like my long umbrellas, but the folding kind is so handy to take along. very glad to have this one!

Howard House

I would say this is worth a look.

A decent umbrella, although about 105cm across isn't quite the big canopy I had in mind. One star less for the size, maybe I should have read compact more carefully?. The ribs have some flex and the pole feels solid, it is comfortable enough to carry and looks nice. There was a new product smell at first, not lovely but hardly the worst thing I've sniffed.... nothing that put me off using it. For someone wanting a reasonably priced umbrella rather than a huge one.....I would say this is worth a look.

The build feels just as good as the sun umbrellas I've used before.

The build feels just as good as the sun umbrellas I've used before. I chose the gray because I liked the look of it. It seems solid and should give useful shade, but folded up it's more substantial than I'd pictured. Should have paid closer attention to the size in the description, that's on me. Fine to take along to the beach, just not the little umbrella I wanted to squeeze into my bag for the bus ride to work.

I hadn't expected the pink to look quite so pretty.

I hadn't expected the pink to look quite so pretty. (Trying not to compete with the bride.) Four stars only because opening it wasn't immediately obvious to me. A friend pointed out the button, and I'm leaving it open on the couch until next week's wedding. I wanted something useful for rain, but it's rather lovely to look at too.

Looking good so far.

The better choice of the two umbrellas I picked up for my junior high daughter. She walks to school or takes her bike, so being able to put it away in her bag is useful. Our winters are wet and breezy, and I mainly wanted enough cover to keep her reasonably dry on the walk. Looking good so far. It feels nicely made and I hope it will see her through a few winters yet.

Thankfully it was a beautiful day and the couple didn't need them!

We had these ready for photos JUST IN CASE it rained at my daughter's wedding. Thankfully it was a beautiful day and the couple didn't need them! Still, I was glad we had a plan B. They looked smart enough for wedding pictures without drawing all the attention, and were a convenient size to keep nearby. I would recommend them for that purpose - a practical precaution, even though ours weren't called into service on the day.

An umbrella has been my answer to sunny days for years.

An umbrella has been my answer to sunny days for years. With less hair on top now, I appreciate the shade without having to wear a hat. No flattened hair afterwards! This one replaces the one I lost and feels just right for that use. Roomy enough for me on my own. You can squeeze two underneath, but someone ends up outside the cover, especially when it rains.

Sherry Sanford

for keeping in a roomy purse this is handy and looks quite nice.

for keeping in a roomy purse this is handy and looks quite nice. for my everyday rainy walks though i'd prefer something BIGGER, there isn't much spare cover around me.if you only want something to have along when rain is possible,, it makes more sense than as your main umbrella.

Philip Martin

NOT MY FAVORITE PART.

The umbrella itself is nice, but i expected the whole thing to fold itself down when u press the button. It does shut the canopy, you still have to shorten the metal stem yourself. That's normal for this one, just not what i pictured. The other thing that REALLY gets me is the size in my bag, it's more room than i wanted to give an umbrella. NOT MY FAVORITE PART. I'm keeping it because we keep getting rain and the coverage is good, just a bit mixed on carrying it.

Tabitha Shelton

I like the way it works.

Small enough to live in my laptop bag, big enough to keep me covered when it rains.I like the way it works. Off comes the sleeve, undo the fastening, hit the button and WHOOSH! it's up and ready. No wrestling with it at the doorway. When I'm heading indoors I press again and SNAP! the canopy folds together. A quick shake to lose the water, then I push the telescoping shaft in by hand before wrapping it up. All set to go back in the bag until the weather has another go at me.

Joseph Mayo

Construction seems VERY solid.

If you hate sitting in direct sun, this gives you a nice patch of shade! I bring it to little league games and the pool, and it makes being out there much more comfortable. People keep asking to borrow it. Construction seems VERY solid. It's also been useful when rain turns up. Open it's wider than the folded size suggests, so I do mind the edges around other people. I wouldn't leave it sitting open on the ground in a breeze. The sleeve is handy for packing it away, and I like having a closed loop to hold instead of a straight handle.

Steve Jennings

I bought this for a friend who is particular about what she carries.

I bought this for a friend who is particular about what she carries. She's usually into very bright things, so I wasn't sure how a black umbrella would go down, but she liked the simple look when she opened it. She's the one who never seemed to have an umbrella at work, and this fits in her everyday bag. Not the tiniest thing to carry, but a useful size. She says she's actually remembering it now. Her birthday was in August and it's still working nicely six or seven months later.

Shaun Fuentes

The sleeve is handy for keeping it together once dry.

I had pictured a little more room underneath this, enough for two at a push, but you would both have to stand very close. For one person the coverage seems about right. The black fabric has a more substantial feel than the umbrella I was using before. There is quite a sharp whoosh when it springs out, almost like somebody flicking a cape open. Not important I know, but I like that bit. Giving it a few shakes after coming inside gets most of the drops off. It isn't instantly dry though, so I still leave it open awhile rather than put it straight against other things. Anyway it doesn't seem to hang onto loads of water. It feels light enough in my hand and the whole thing looks fairly well put together. How much punishment it can take I can't really say. I'm not planning to bend it inside out just to find out either. The demonstrations I watched looked good, assuming they were showing it fairly. The handle is an enclosed oval loop, which is quite useful when carrying it along with something else. There's room to get a decent grip and no hook end sticking out. I find it comfortable enough for a walk. There is a button to spread the umbrella and another press gathers the canopy back in. You do still have to push the telescoping shaft down yourself afterwards. That took a moment to understand, nothing wrong with it. The sleeve is handy for keeping it together once dry. Overall a nice umbrella, just don't expect much space to share. I'll add to this if anything changes.

As a Father's Day present, this umbrella has been a very welcome one.

As a Father's Day present, this umbrella has been a very welcome one. I wondered whether a folding umbrella would feel too heavy in the hand, but the weight is quite comfortable. The closed oval handle gives a secure grip and has a useful shape without being bulky. A press of the button opens it promptly; another brings the canopy down, and the telescoping section is then compressed manually. There is a fabric sleeve for storing it, which is a practical addition. The canopy feels well supported and opens wider than I had pictured from seeing it folded. For rain or for shade it gives me ample shelter, with room to tuck someone close beside me. An excellent gift.

Makayla Ramsey

Nice to carry something that looks smart.

Nice to carry something that looks smart. There's enough coverage for my walk from the train to the office, but I don't feel like I'm blocking the whole pavement. No need to dodge everyone with a giant canopy. The opening button is handy, and it feels reassuringly solid in my hand.

Haley Mcfarland

Feels like money well spent.

Walking across my college campus in rain was getting old with umbrellas that didn't last, so I wanted something more substantial this time. This one has been going for months and is still working well. The size is a good middle ground, enough cover without lugging a huge umbrella between classes, and it fits in my bag. I've had it out in wind as well as rain and the frame has coped without getting bent out of shape. I'd recommend it to another student who wants something practical that will actually get used. Feels like money well spent.

Spencer Hansen

At night especially, neither of them wants much to do with the rain.

For an umbrella that folds down fairly small, this gives me a useful amount of shelter in the rain. I don't feel as though I have to squeeze myself right underneath the middle to stay dry. The canopy has some give to it when a breeze catches it, which I appreciate more than I expected to. I could see carrying it round a golf course, but at our house the real test has been persuading our dogs to go outside when it is wet. At night especially, neither of them wants much to do with the rain. Being able to shelter them while they venture out has made that whole job a little easier. It isn't a giant umbrella, but I can move it over whichever dog needs the encouragement. The other thing that surprised me was how little effort it takes to carry. With dogs to keep an eye on I don't want something that needs both hands just to get it ready. One press and it is up, so I can get the cover where I need it straight away. Walking with it is comfortable too. It gives enough shelter for an ordinary rainy walk and I haven't found myself wrestling with it all the way along. I think that is what I like most, it is useful without making the walk feel like more work.

Colleen Harris

Such a pretty umbrella, I am already picturing it in our wedding…

Such a pretty umbrella, I am already picturing it in our wedding photos. Only giving four stars as I had imagined a bit more width across the top. It should still work, just means the two of us will need to squeeze in closer than planned. Maybe that is not such a bad thing for wedding pictures after all (smooch-smooch)

Leslie George

Thanks, little umbrella!

Bought this as insurance in case my wedding day turned wet. It arrived just as the Chicago rain set in, and it's already been out far more than I expected. Has kept me comfortable through plenty of rain and some wind without feeling flimsy. Thanks, little umbrella!

Hayden Guzman

Easy one for me to recommend!

I've kept this umbrella around for years, bought a few as gifts, and even mentioned it on my blog. It feels solid, and the button is a real help when I'm already carrying things. I can open it or collapse the canopy without having to free both hands. It isn't one of those tiny folding umbrellas, but I prefer the extra room overhead. Easy one for me to recommend!

Sandra Abbott

A little more effort than I expected.

Fairly compact in black, and the loop handle clips neatly onto my backpack. The button opens it promptly. Packing it away needs a proper push to shorten the pole after the canopy closes. A little more effort than I expected. Everything looks very, very tidy otherwise. Hoping it stays a useful one.

Blake Mcconnell

my previous umbrella didn't inspire much confidence there.

Enough cover for me, or for two people who don't mind getting rather friendly. The automatic opening and canopy closing feel positive, and I'm hoping they stay that way with use; my previous umbrella didn't inspire much confidence there. It folds into a convenient size for putting away and the sleeve keeps it gathered neatly. I make sure it's dry first rather than expecting the cover to do that for me.

Caroline Carlson

Otherwise a useful umbrella and it keeps the rain off.

Slips into my soft briefcase without taking it over, and opens wide enough to cover me and the bag beside me. The button handles opening and brings the canopy down again. To finish packing it away you still need to push the telescoping shaft in manually, and that takes a firmer push than I expected. I find it easier using both hands rather than trying to rush it. Otherwise a useful umbrella and it keeps the rain off.

Leroy Morrow

This one makes me feel like I actually planned for the rain!

Some folding umbrellas look like they're only there to save your hair. This one makes me feel like I actually planned for the rain! There's a decent amount over me without carrying a full length umbrella.I caught my reflection in a building window and had to smile; looked surprisingly organised for once. A rare achievement. The trouble comes when you're waiting to cross and notice somebody beside you getting soaked. You start calculating whether offering a bit of cover is the polite thing to do, or just an awkward shuffle waiting to happen. Fortunately the signal usually changes before I manage to reach a moral conclusion. Off we go!

i don't enjoy staying in sunshine too long.

i don't enjoy staying in sunshine too long. in CA i like to carry my own shade, and this umbrella does that nicely. i did see something similar for less money later :( finding the right thing online is not so easy, the search never seems to understand what i'm actually looking for。。。

Erik Wu

I like the oval handle, easy for her to hold onto.

Had this about a month for my 5 year old. She's been opening it indoors quite a bit because she likes it so much, but we've decided it's for rainy days now, not playing around the house! She thinks the cream white is pretty and likes having her own umbrella. Haven't had many chances to use it in actual rain, though it kept her covered on the one wet outing so far. The button is easy enough for her to press. She does need help with compressing the stem after the canopy closes, so putting it completely away is still my job. A little much for her hands at this age. I like the oval handle, easy for her to hold onto. Seems quite sturdy overall and we're pleased with it, just wouldn't expect a small child to manage every step alone.

Gabriella Malone

My first impression is that I've found the right umbrella.

My first impression is that I've found the right umbrella. It has the reassuring feel of an old one I've kept for about seventeen years - still perfectly usable - and the frame looks neatly finished. There isn't much fuss to the appearance, which suits me.The sleeve is useful, and the canopy opens & shuts readily with the button. After closing it I push the telescoping shaft back in by hand, with no trouble so far. This is more than I normally spend on an umbrella, but I passed it up before and kept wishing I'd gone ahead. Now that I have it, I don't regret paying the extra.

Robert Ashley

Lovely looking umbrella and the frame feels solid too.

Lovely looking umbrella and the frame feels solid too. We chose it for a wedding shoot, so it probably won't see much use now unless another couple wants to borrow it. It looked really really nice in the pictures, and I think anyone we lend it to will appreciate it just as much.

Kaitlin Moody

The finish looks good and it seems properly made.

An umbrella is still one of those useful little gifts, especially when people misplace them.I needed a last extra thing for a friend, whose old patterned umbrella from a trip had finally given out. This felt like a nice replacement without spending too much. The finish looks good and it seems properly made. Something she'll actually have a reason to use.

Eric Dixon

The fabric feels lovely and the whole thing seems solid.

The fabric feels lovely and the whole thing seems solid. It has a smart look as well. The cream white canopy looks especially nice with the handle. - I THOUGHT THE BUTTON WOULD SHORTEN THE WHOLE UMBRELLA BUT IT JUST CLOSES THE CANOPY, THEN YOU PRESS THE SHAFT IN YOURSELF. NOW I KNOW THAT IT IS SIMPLE ENOUGH AND I AM VERY PLEASED WITH IT.

Ernest Gentry

Such a lovely Cream White colour, very stylish!

Such a lovely Cream White colour, very stylish! The shade is wonderful for My very fair skin and makes Me happier about going out at mid day. I can enjoy a walk with out being right under the sun all the time. Would recommend it even if your skin isn't especially sensitive.

Rebekah Day

Sturdiness is what I want from an umbrella.

Sturdiness is what I want from an umbrella. My previous one lasted four years before I replaced it (nothing had snapped--the fabric was simply wearing thin by then). I've been using this one for about a year and it's holding up nicely. It still opens as it should and keeps me dry.

Russell Madden

A solid umbrella with a useful push button.

A solid umbrella with a useful push button. Opens to a decent size and keeps me well covered; two can get underneath if they stay close. Packing it away is a little less neat than with my tiny travel one, but that one never gave enough cover anyway. This feels a worthwhile trade off and has felt steady rather than flimsy on blustery days.

Lucas Robbins

The umbrella itself is even nicer.

Someone took care with the packaging, which I appreciated. The umbrella itself is even nicer. I tend to pick things for their looks, but this one has a reassuringly solid frame as well. The opening is quick and smooth. It isn't flimsy in the hand. I'd happily choose another when I need one.

Max Braun

It has been a good buy for me!

My old sun unbrella never made much difference, I still felt hot underneath it.The first outing with this one was noticeably more comfortable, like finding a patch of tree shade. Much happier using this on sunny days and it seems sturdier too.It has been a good buy for me! (No struggle getting it open either)

Curtis Oliver

Having some shade that comes along with me is wonderful.

I went through quite a few umbrella listings before settling on this one. What appealed to me was the compact folded size, the flexible ribs, and being able to open it with a button rather than having to fiddle about with it. I chose Black, and the plain appearance and dark underside suit me much better than something brightly patterned. After using it for a while, I can honestly say it has become something I don't like leaving behind! Walks, the fair, wandering around the farmer's market, there are so many places where you end up in sunshine with nowhere shady to stand. There has been skin cancer in my family, so being careful about sun exposure matters a lot to me personally. Having some shade that comes along with me is wonderful. It's comfortable enough to carry for a long walk without becoming a nuisance. Opened out, there's a useful amount of coverage over my head and shoulders, yet it folds into something I can actually carry around afterward. That balance is probably my favourite thing about it. The oval loop handle gives me a secure grip, and I can rest the umbrella against my shoulder with it angled behind me when that suits the direction of the sun. My husband and I had it with us at the fair and were both grateful to have some shade available, even though it's more comfortable for one person than for sharing as we walked. For what I paid, this has been an excellent purchase. If you burn easily or simply find standing in the sun exhausting, a little portable shade makes such a difference. This one is convenient enough that I actually take it along, which is the whole point!

There is always room to improve, though...

My experience with compact umbrellas has been mixed, but this one is a keeper! A press to open, another to gather the canopy, and the construction overall feels very good. Easily one of the nicest folding ones I've owned. There is always room to improve, though... I'd welcome a little more confidence in the frame for rough weather. Haven't tried it in really strong wind, so that's a worry rather than an actual problem.

Theresa Becker

Very pleased with how practical it is.

Solidly put together, with fabric that feels substantial, but it still folds into something I can carry without much fuss. It has kept me dry on wet walks, and I like having enough coverage over my shoulders. On a busy pavement it's easy to lift a little while people pass. The button makes getting it up in a hurry so convenient!! Very pleased with how practical it is.

Michelle Fox

I have only used it twice in CHicago rain.

I have only used it twice in CHicago rain.Worked well both times, including when it got gusty, and looks smart enough for work. Plenty of space over one person, maybe enough to give someone using a walker some useful cover too.I would be comfortable buying this one again.

Adrian Burnett

The blue looks great and the frame seems sturdy.

Used this for something other than rain at a baby shower. The mother-to-be had to fly home afterward, so most people were giving money or cards rather than things for her to carry. We used ribbons to hang the umbrella up and tucked the cards, plus photos of presents already sent to her home, among the ribs. I'd only planned on a party decoration, but it's nicer than that. The blue looks great and the frame seems sturdy. It may stay with my other party things, or be passed along to a child. Certainly looks capable of being an everyday umbrella too.

Ruth House

She's just as pleased with it as I am.

Living in Chicago, I've got used to umbrellas being more trouble than help when the wind picks up. I've had this one a couple of years and it's been a much better companion. My aunt in Sydney was forever complaining about hers giving up, so I sent her one last month too. She's just as pleased with it as I am. A success for both of us!!!!

Natalie Nash

To start with its an umbrella and it looks decent enough.

To start with its an umbrella and it looks decent enough. Now the loop handle isn't quite to my taste, and folded up it takes more bag space than I expected. I settled on 3 stars because it does keep the rain off and looks nice, but carrying it about is not as convenient as I had hoped.

Sherri Paul

The button works nicely

Still too early to say how it will wear, but so far I'm satisfied. The button works nicely; once the canopy has folded, the pole needs a push to shorten it. It rains a lot here, so I like keeping this black one handy. A little more effort at the last step, otherwise neat and practical.

Isaac Wilcox

Those five stars are an initial impression.

Those five stars are an initial impression. It arrived today, a sunny spring day in Cincinnati, so I haven't tried it against rain or wind yet. Still, it looks and feels well made. There's more weight to it than most compact umbrellas, which I like. The frame and fabric feel substantial. Both opening and closing with the button work smoothly, provided you know closing just folds the canopy. It doesn't pull the telescoping shaft down too; you do that part by hand. That's what I expect from this type of umbrella. If you appreciate something that feels like quality, I'd say this is worth paying for.

Peter Pena

Absolutely love having this along!

For someone who does most errands on foot, this is just what I needed. It gives me good coverage without being one of those enormous umbrellas you have to lug around. The look is smart and simple, and the frame feels substantial (a relief when a gust catches you). Absolutely love having this along!

Adriana Daugherty

Happy with what we got for the money.

We were after an umbrella to leave in the car, and using this convinced us to order another. My wife and I now have one each ready for rainy days. An older umbrella of mine lasted fifteen years, so I appreciate a sensible, solid umbrella. Happy with what we got for the money.

Jordan Snyder

I haven't had it out in rain yet, but the frame looks substantial.

I haven't had it out in rain yet, but the frame looks substantial. There are lots of ribs visible underneath, and it feels more solid than the tiny folding ones I've used. Bear in mind it has some weight, so anyone with sore hands might notice that. Opened up, there is a decent amount of coverage for one person without needing a long umbrella.
