An easy recommendation if you're out in the rain a lot.
Long rainy dog walks are much more pleasant with this. There's enough cover that I can take my time rather than rush home with wet shoulders. We go out several times a day, so it gets plenty of use. It opens quickly and doesn't feel awkward to hold for a longer walk. An easy recommendation if you're out in the rain a lot.

There is more room under this than I expected from the folded size.
There is more room under this than I expected from the folded size. It opens with a reassuring snap and nothing about it seems flimsy. The oval handle, or loop I suppose you'd call it, took me a while to get used to, though it's not really a problem once the umbrella is tucked alongside my briefcase. I wanted decent coverage without carrying a long umbrella everywhere, and this manages that nicely. It isn't tiny when packed away, but it's small enough for the way I carry it.

The coverage is comfortable for one
Solidly put together and reassuring to hold. I've had no trouble with the tip, although I don't use an umbrella to tap along the pavement. The coverage is comfortable for one; two could squeeze under if needed. It's done well in the rain and breezes I've used it in. Not the cheapest umbrella, but for something that feels this substantial I think the price is fair. Hoping for plenty of use.

For the purpose I bought it for, I consider the money well spent.
Each year I spend time watching golden eagle nests as part of a project recording whether the nesting is successful. One of my observation spots this year was completely exposed, just when we were getting much hotter weather than usual. I was far enough from the nest to watch without interfering, so I could set my chair beside the truck and use the spotting scope rather than remain inside. That worked well for watching the birds, but there wasn't a tree anywhere near my seat. After several hours out there, a hat and sunscreen didn't make the heat very pleasant. I wanted something I could bring along easily and hold over myself, and decided to give this umbrella a try. The difference in comfort was apparent as soon as I had some shade over my head. It did not make the weather cool, of course, but getting out of the direct sunshine made it much easier to stay at the observation point. I can not give an actual temperature difference because I didn't measure one. What I noticed was that the sun wasn't beating directly down on me anymore, and that was enough to make it worthwhile. With a breeze, I found it best to pay attention to the direction I was holding it. Keeping the top toward the breeze was more comfortable than allowing air to get underneath and pull against my hand. I wouldn't take my experience as any promise about strong winds, and I still adjusted the angle when needed. The canopy has kept its shape during my use and hasn't given me any trouble. It also packs down small enough that taking it with my observation things isn't a nuisance. For the purpose I bought it for, I consider the money well spent. The awkward part is trying to watch through the scope and write on my data sheet while keeping the umbrella overhead. The closed loop gives me a secure grip, but it still occupies a hand. A little more reach in the handle would of suited my particular setup better. That is a fairly specific need, though, and doesn't take away from how useful the shade has been.

Happy to recommend!
As a teacher I'm outside for bus duty at both ends of the school day. I've been through enough umbrellas on gusty days to appreciate one that stays manageable. This one has been a big help (especially with all the rain this spring!) and hasn't turned inside out while I've been using it. It's held up well for the job. Happy to recommend!

Really impressed with this one.
Really impressed with this one.Fabric feels tough, used it in the wind here and it held up wellNot a tiny little umbrella though. Folded it still needs a bag, don't plan on a pocket.Gray seems a more forgiving colour if you aren't keen on wiping off every mark.

Seems nicely made.
We had looked in several shops for an umbrella for our grand daughter and finally found this one online. It was for her second birthday and she was keen to take it outside even though the sun was shining. Seems nicely made. We help with the button and folding it away, but she's very happy to have her own umbrella.

We've had this for our toddler daughter for about six months and it's still looking good. She gets very excited about it and wants to carry it even when she's inside. I help with the button and folding it away, but she likes holding it over her head herself. It feels nicely put together, not just something cute that won't get used. She's convinced it needs to come out for pirate games indoors too -- not just rainy days.

Pros: Easy to carry, lasts well & gives proper shade.
Pros: Easy to carry, lasts well & gives proper shade.Cons: Handle could be longer.
Mine has had about three years of use now, mostly for sunshine rather than showers. Where I live there's a lot of sun, and I'm often walking around at lunchtime. It's rather like carrying a small patch of tree shade with me. The beige outside is nice enough, but it's the dark shade underneath that I appreciate. (You don't get that bright, glaring feeling through the material.)
My one gripe is how high I need to keep my hand. There's not much length to hold onto, so I end up with my fist nearly under my chin. Yep, a longer grip would make that more comfortable. Still preferable to being directly in the sun.
I wouldn't describe it as flimsy. Mine goes out a couple of times most weeks and the fabric and ribs are still looking sound. Perhaps being fairly light makes it seem less substantial than it is. It packs away neatly, and I can carry it in my larger handbag rather than having another long thing to hold. Doesn't take up the whole bag either.
I've also been caught in rain with it and stayed dry. Nice that it's useful for both, not just my sunny walks.
Carol Mccall
The oval handle is fairly small in my hand but feels solid.
I have only actually opened this in the rain once, which is not much of a test of how it will wear. The construction gives me reason to be optimistic, but I would rather say that than pretend a single outing proves anything. It has been in my bag most days for a couple of months, so at least the carrying around part has gone well. This is an umbrella for one person, not something I would plan on sharing. It folds down for a bag or a larger purse, although the folded bundle is thicker than I expected and not featherweight. The frame has a lot of ribs and looks substantial, which I prefer over something flimsy just to save a little space. The oval handle is fairly small in my hand but feels solid. For a portable umbrella with a reassuring structure, I think it is a very good choice. More rainy days will tell me about the rest.

The way this umbrella sits in my hand is pleasant.
The way this umbrella sits in my hand is pleasant. The oval loop gives me a secure grip, and the whole thing feels solid without being awkward to hold overhead. I would not describe it as one of those tiny umbrellas that disappears in a pocket, though it folds down enough for my bag. The button action is brisk and straightforward. It sends the canopy out and brings it back in; after that I press the shaft down by hand. Once I understood that sequence, I found it quite easy to manage. In actual rain it has kept me dry, which is the main consideration for me. My small reservation is how quickly it springs open. I prefer to keep it further away from my face before pressing the button, rather than holding it close as I have with slower manual umbrellas. All in all, a pleasing umbrella so far. I cannot say much about long term wear yet, and will add to this when winter and more regular use have given it a fair test.
Chloe Huber
being able to pack it down small is handy.
I left this on my wish list for a long time, mostly because I couldn't decide whether a folding umbrella would be enough for following my daughter's golf tournaments. The big one I used before was fine once it was up but something else to lug about between holes. I wanted less to carry, not another thing that turned out awkward on the course. Eventually ordered it for the summer and I'm glad I stopped thinking about it!! It opens quickly, which is useful when you're watching play and the rain starts. Mine is black, with a black underside, nothing fancy looking. I've also been glad of the shade while standing about in the sun. Not saying it makes a hot day cool, just much nicer than having no cover. The handle took a little getting used to because it's a closed loop rather than the usual shape, but it feels comfortable in my hand. Folded up it isn't constantly knocking against everything as I move along. The button pulls the canopy closed and then you push the stem down yourself. Once I understood that it was straightforward. Only real compromise for me is coverage. It's enough for me, but don't buy a compact umbrella expecting the spread of a large golf one. For what I wanted that trade off is worth it. I'd rather actually carry this than leave a larger umbrella behind. For parents spending a lot of time following junior golf, this is a useful thing to have along. One final thought after another parent mentioned flying with their golf things; being able to pack it down small is handy. I would check the airline's rules separately rather than assume anything about taking it on board, but for getting around the course I am happy with it.

What a lovely umbrella!
What a lovely umbrella! The finish on the canopy is much nicer than I usually see. The automatic opening is quick and easy, with no fiddling about. Even the loop handle feels nicely made. I could see giving this as a gift to someone who enjoys a smart looking umbrella that is useful in the rain too.

My husband and I walk the course when we play golf, and this has been lovely to have along. Gives me a good patch of shade (without looking like I'm carrying a tent), and isn't awkward to carry between holes. Some of the people we play near have already asked where they can find one!
Tracey Harding
Overall I'm happy with it and would recommend it.
Mine lives in the car, ready for those showers that seem to come from nowhere. The ribs underneath (I think that's the right term) give it a reassuring feel, and normal wind hasn't bothered it. Really gusty weather is still a struggle, though. Can't ask an umbrella to do everything, can you? Overall I'm happy with it and would recommend it.
Bryan Manning
One thing worth knowing, the button doesn't shorten the pole.
Another one for the car, because I wanted to keep my older umbrella in the garage for those little jobs in the rain. Walking up the drive to the mailbox or taking the big rubbish bin out is much nicer with some cover.I am completely sold on the button action. It pops open without any fuss and gives me room to stay covered while I get groceries into the car. It isn't going to shelter the whole trolley as well, but it makes that awkward loading bit much less soggy. When I get in, I bring the door nearly shut and press the button to fold the canopy outside. Then the wet umbrella can go down by the passenger footwell instead of dripping over me. One thing worth knowing, the button doesn't shorten the pole. You push that back towards the handle yourself before putting it away properly. Once home I open it in the garage and let everything dry before folding it up again. Oh, and the beige is such a nice quiet colour, just what I wanted!
Bobby Calderon
Gray outside with a dark underside, pleasant for shade.
Weight is roughly 390g, manageable to carry but not especially light on the shoulder. The opened canopy isn't particularly full looking. Gray outside with a dark underside, pleasant for shade. Reasonable quality at the price, just heavier than I would ideally choose for a bag.
Denise Park
Arrived promptly and the green fabric looks good in person.
Arrived promptly and the green fabric looks good in person. The seams look tidy and the frame feels solid. It has a little more heft than the smallest folding umbrellas, so perhaps not for carrying all day, but that suits me fine. A useful size once opened as well.
Sonya Landry
It works well and looks really nice.
It works well and looks really nice. The opening button wants quite a firm press, though that doesn't bother me much. I had wondered about the weight from other comments, but it feels similar to umbrellas I've had before. Packs away to a practical size too, so I'm pleased with it.
Hunter Johnson
it looks nice without being fussy.
Bought the gray to wear with my EGL & Lolita outfits, but it's become an everyday thing in the hot SW summer... it looks nice without being fussy. Gives my upper body the shade I wanted & folds small enough that carrying it isn't a bother! A good buy compared with the fancy parasols I was looking at. Tempted to get another!
Tracy Hart
Matches what I expected.
Matches what I expected. Has some weight. Canopy is big enough for me and has handled rain with a bit of wind well. Water shakes off reasonably. Recommend. The handle is the part that feels different, being a closed oval loop instead of usual grip. It is secure in hand. Opening action seems strong and it comes out quite fast, so give it room when pressing the button

Both my girls, aged 2 and 3, are fascinated by this umbrella.
Both my girls, aged 2 and 3, are fascinated by this umbrella. Its pretty and they love holding it while I walk beside them. Pressing the button is the exciting part! I help put it away afterwards. They've certainly become much more enthusiastic about rainy days.
Phyllis Shields
Such a useful umbrella!
Such a useful umbrella! Feels sturdy and there's room for me with my 6 month old held close. We stayed dry when we used it, and I could still watch where we were going by keeping the front edge raised a little. I'm glad I paid for a decent one. Would happily buy again.
Jessica Griffin
it works when its raining too
hello everyone i really love this umbrella i got mine at the fair in puyallup washington which we go to every year and last time it was so hot i wanted something over my head instead of just standing in the sun and this gray one caught my eye (gray is my favourite) once i opened it the shade was such a relief! :D i would reccomend it for just walking about too because its plain enough that you don't feel all dressed up carrying it!PS. it works when its raining too

A solid umbrella with a reassuring finish.
A solid umbrella with a reassuring finish. The mechanism works just as it should: one press puts the canopy up, another draws it in, then you push the shaft back by hand. The oval grip sits nicely in my hand and the whole thing seems carefully put together.Good value.
Kevin Elliott
A little less fiddly to put away would be nice.
Having some shade that fits in my roomier purse is handy, and this umbrella is small enough to leave there. The closing part confused me at first; the button gathers the canopy, but you still have to shorten the pole yourself. Is that just how these compact ones work? Anyway, once I knew what to expect it wasn't a problem, just different from what I was used to.I mostly wanted it for sunny days, but it's nice that it can deal with rain too. I had one before that I used for both, so that was something I wanted again. A little less fiddly to put away would be nice.
Alison Cunningham
Excellent value.
Such a pretty umbrella, and the finish looks much nicer than the price suggested. My daughter wants it for her costume first, then she has already asked to take it out for shade. I can imagine it looking lovely in her room in between. Nice to have something decorative that is also a proper usable umbrella. Excellent value.
Raymond Mcconnell
Money nicely spent.
Money nicely spent. Nothing flashy about it, which is part of the appeal! The oval grip suits my hand, though anyone expecting a long sword-style handle will need to adjust their expectations. It feels light & discreet enough that an unsuspecting person would just see an ordinary umbrella. Clearly that's what it is, but I can picture a caped space villain carrying it when the weather refuses to cooperate!
Spencer Vincent
Doesn't feel heavy to hold either.
The first time we opened this everyone wanted a look at how much cover came out of a folded umbrella! Doesn't feel heavy to hold either. It's been coming along on the walk to the children's bus quite often. If someone has forgotten theirs we can squeeze them beside us for a bit, though it isn't a giant umbrella. We did catch the edge against a pole once and the ribs gave a little rather than staying bent. Everything looked fine afterwards and it still opens normally. That flexibility is something I appreciate, especially with all the coming and going on those morning walks.

Rain is something I plan for on my daily walk.
Rain is something I plan for on my daily walk. We have plenty of it here and an umbrella gets used often. I wanted one I could manage with one hand. Push the button on this and it goes up, simple enough. It is comfortable to hold when a breeze comes with the rain too. After looking at several umbrellas,I feel I made a good choice for the money. I would recommend it.
Malik Mcclain
A couple could share if they stand close together.
I wasn't expecting much at this price, so opening these was a pleasant surprise. They look much nicer than I'd pictured and feel quite decent too. We've got them for our wedding guests in case the weather turns wet, and I think they'll look lovely. A couple could share if they stand close together. I don't expect any umbrella to last forever, but these seem perfectly useful beyond the one day. For the money I won't be worrying about them all evening, either. I'd certainly suggest them for a wedding like ours.
Howard Phillips
What a beautiful umbrella!!!
What a beautiful umbrella!!! I'd ordered a few different ones and was surprised how nice they all looked, but this is the one that really caught my eye! The green is gorgeous and the inside is black. It opens into a generous canopy and the whole thing looks properly put together. I'm delighted with it!!! My only little wish is that the handle end were slightly shorter, just to make the folded umbrella more compact. That's a personal preference, not much of a complaint. Hoping for lots of use from this one. I'd happily tell anyone to try it!!!
Sierra Erickson
This has been a terrific umbrella.
This has been a terrific umbrella. The button is responsive, the frame feels solid, and a quick shake gets most of the drops off before I go inside. Living somewhere tropical means plenty of wet days, so it hasn't just sat unused. After eight months of taking it out in the rain, it still looks good and dries out nicely. Just as happy with it now as when it arrived!
Gabriella Ware
My previous umbrella was shorter and slipped into my bag more neatly.
Rain is a regular thing here in Portland, so an umbrella doesn't stay unused for long. I've found this one solid feeling, good at keeping the rain off and straightforward to open. The only downside for me is its length when folded. My previous umbrella was shorter and slipped into my bag more neatly. Apart from that, it has been doing a very decent job.
Chase Mendez
Smell has gone now and it looks so nice.
Did find a strong new smell when we opened it, but sincewe had time before our granddaughter's birthday we left it open to air and gave the canopy a wipe. Smell has gone now and it looks so nice. She hasn't had it yet but I reckon she is going to be very happy with it.
Ross Bridges
It looks good and the construction has held up well.
I've had this umbrella for about five years, although it hasn't been used particularly hard. It looks good and the construction has held up well. My one reservation is that folded doesn't necessarily mean tiny; it takes up more of my bag than I would ideally like. On the other hand, I appreciate having a decent amount of cover once it's open. I probably bring it out around fifteen times a year, so this isn't a review from somebody who uses an umbrella every day. For my occasional use it has been quite satisfactory.*UPDATE: I've found carrying it by the loop more convenient when my bag is already full. That doesn't make it any smaller, of course, but it has made the size less of an issue. Still happy with the umbrella overall.
Leah Adkins
Just the sort of umbrella I wanted!
Just the sort of umbrella I wanted! The cream white looks really pretty without being too fussy, and I love how neatly it folds away. Once open it gives me good coverage from the rain. My one small niggle is getting the damp fabric folded tidily. I leave it open to dry first rather than trying to pack it away straight after coming indoors, which makes it easier. Happy I went for it!
Victor Young
That's not something I blame a compact umbrella for.
After about a year of roughly weekly use, either in rain or when I want some shade, this umbrella has held up nicely. The button mechanism is still working well, which is more than I expected at the price. I would just suggest thinking about how much coverage you want before buying. I'm 5' 10" and it keeps my head and upper body dry, but rain coming in at an angle still reaches my legs and shoes. That's not something I blame a compact umbrella for. If keeping almost your whole body covered matters more than having something convenient to carry, you would probably be happier with a bigger canopy.
Jillian Singleton
My one quibble is the handle.
We've had a lot of rain locally since this umbrella arrived, so it has had more than a token outing. Having read such different opinions, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Mine has worked fine every time I've needed it, and I've used it plenty times now. The canopy is BIG enough for me, which is what I wanted, and the black looks simple and smart. It won't be the easiest one to spot among other black umbrellas, but that isn't a problem for me. There are a lot of ribs supporting the fabric. I can't judge the engineering, though it feels well supported when open. After use I leave it spread out to dry and then put it away. It has become my usual choice, with an older folding umbrella kept in my bag as a spare. My one quibble is the handle. It is an oval loop, not the sort of grip I'm accustomed to, and I would prefer a little more room for my fingers. Nothing is wrong with it, I just don't find that shape quite as comfortable as my old one. Otherwise it does what I need.
Sheila Beasley
Price is a little high, but these have been good in breezy rain.
Price is a little high, but these have been good in breezy rain. Got two for my kids to use around campus and both are happy with them. The folded size is not tiny, though, so don't expect it to disappear in a packed backpack. They feel sturdy, which also means more to carry than a very lightweight umbrella.
Mia Durham
For the price, I consider this a very good buy.
For the price, I consider this a very good buy. There is ample room over one person, and the frame feels more substantial than others I looked at in the same bracket. The finish is reassuring as well. Used sensibly, I would expect to get several seasons out of it.
Theodore Fletcher
After eight months, I'm happy with how this umbrella has held up.
After eight months, I'm happy with how this umbrella has held up. It gets taken out in wet and breezy weather, so I don't expect it to stay looking like something straight out of the packet. The frame still feels solid and it gives me dependable cover. Overall I'm satisfied with what I paid and would buy the same one again.
Cristian Mclaughlin
For an everyday umbrella this has been a very good choice.
Have used this type before and chose it again because it suits me so well. It has become the umbrella I reach for when the weather looks miserable, especially going out in the evening. The cream white looks cheerful against a dark day without being a loud colour. There is enough coverage that I can angle it towards the rain, and I try not to pull it so low I can't see ahead. The button is useful when I need it opened quickly. I also appreciate having a sleeve to keep it tidy once dry, although I keep that in my bag so it doesn't get misplaced. For an everyday umbrella this has been a very good choice.
Devin Benton
This is an excellent umbrella with terrible timing.
This is an excellent umbrella with terrible timing. It was pouring for ages, so i finally bought one, because a person can only get soaked so often, right? Then practically no rain for six months. I know it's coincidence, but i like to imagine the clouds saw it and gave up. Sitting here ready and waiting. THE WEATHER HAS APPARENTLY DECIDED NOT TO CHALLENGE ME.
Sheryl Robinson
This umbrella was a present to my boyfriend and he was very happy!
This umbrella was a present to my boyfriend and he was very happy!Looks nice folded and even better when is open. It is not just something to look at, the fabric and frame seem really good and can actually be used in rain. The oval handle is unusual, i like this detail. However, i don't recommed carrying it loose in an airport... with luggage it is another thing in hands (which maybe should be obvious).
Toni Conway
People keep telling me how nice it looks.
GORGEOUS! People keep telling me how nice it looks. The shape is simple but still pretty. it's feminine without being fussy, which is just what I wanted. My sister kept trying to claim it so I ended up buying her one too. Feels sturdy and nicely finished as well.
Kari Gomez
VERY HAPPY WITH HOW THEY LOOKED.
Used these as umbrella props for my daughter's dance performance...They looked lovely on stage, the pink showed up beautifully under the lights. I was a little unsure how ordinary folding umbrellas would look with the costumes, but they worked really well. Plenty of opening and closing through rehearsals and they still looked smart when the show came round....Lots of nice comments from people afterwards...VERY HAPPY WITH HOW THEY LOOKED. Good quality too, not something we had to fuss over between practices.
Kristi Jacobs
The beige is a nice shade and everything feels neatly put together.
The beige is a nice shade and everything feels neatly put together. The canopy fabric has some substance to it, and the button works smoothly for opening and drawing the canopy closed. I gave several as Christmas presents and everyone liked how they looked and felt. Good value for the money!

Handy umbrella for keeping in a bag or taking away with you.
Handy umbrella for keeping in a bag or taking away with you.It gives decent cover across my shoulders but it won't keep every bit of me dry on a wet walk.My Boston walk to work calls for a bigger canopy, especially when the rain comes sideways.4 Stars for something to carry just in case. Not my first choice for the whole daily commute
Joseph Watkins
Packs away to a sensible size too.
I've been using mine for a couple of years and it still feels dependable. Compact umbrellas can feel rather flimsy, but this has a solid feel and the button action remains smooth. It opens promptly and the canopy closes without a struggle. Packs away to a sensible size too. I'd happily have another.
