Picked this up secondhand and paid a few dollars less than I would have for a new one. It looked a little grubby, which didn't surprise me given that it was used. I'd been looking at this sort of umbrella for a while and liked the design, so finding one for less made me happy. The folding part is a real plus for me. I wanted something I could carry in a purse instead of a long umbrella, and this manages that without losing the look I liked.

A very handy umbrella! I can hold it high enough to see ahead while walking, though I wish it spread a little wider. Opening it is easy and it feels sturdy in a breeze. Two people can squeeze under... not much room to spare though. For just me it's great. It came earlier than I thought and was useful in the rain we had. If your after a solid everyday umbrella, I'd recommend it.

I bought a second one of these after being happy with my first umbrella. Some of the reviews made me pause before ordering, particularly when I was thinking about using it for shade as well as rain. The gray outside and black underneath looked different from what I was used to, and I wondered how comfortable it would be in the sun. In the end I decided to give it a try and I'm pleased I did! It provides a nice patch of shade and has been just as useful on rainy days. The frame feels well put together and hasn't felt flimsy when a breeze comes up. Build feels solid and the button opens it up and brings the canopy down again, then i press the pole down by hand to pack it away. Hoping it carries on working this nicely.

I've had about four of these now. I spend a lot of time travelling abroad and one nearly always comes along. The really tiny umbrellas aren't for me, not enough cover when it actually rains. This gives me room without being awkward to pack. A couple have stayed with people I met who admired them, especially when I was heading home anyway and could get another for myself.

It arrived promptly and I've been enjoying using it! The first thing I noticed was how solid it felt when I picked it up. I've had cheaper umbrellas before that never felt very secure, so this was a welcome change. It's still fairly new, but the frame seems much more substantial and it has stayed the right way up in the gusty weather I've encountered. The flexible ribs seem to give it some movement rather than making the whole thing feel rigid. Most importantly, the canopy has kept me dry. Opening it with the button is straightforward too, which I appreciate when I'm trying to get outside quickly. An umbrella I'd happily recommend.

The umbrella looks sweet and feels fairly substantial. My nearly three-year-old was very excited about it and wanted to try the button straight away. With me helping he got the idea quickly, although I still do the pushing down after it folds. The handle is the part I am less keen on. It is a closed oval loop, not the open curved sort I usually find easier to grab. When I have a baby in one arm and am keeping track of him with the other, that makes a difference to me. He is delighted with it so I am keeping it, and it gives us good cover. I just wish the handle felt a little less bulky in my hand.

This has been a great umbrella! Everything felt in good order when I unpacked it. The opening button doesn't take much effort, and the canopy spreads out nicely without any fuss. It feels well made when I'm using it. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase.

My new umbrella has a button to OPEN & CLOSE the canopy, then I push the pole in to put it away. The oval handle is easy to keep hold of & it isn't tiring to hold even when I've got it open. A second person can tuck in close beside me under it. I am SO PLEASED with this umbrella!!!

it's too long for my purse, but at least my upper half stays dry. we don't get much morning rain here, so i keep it at the office until those afternoon storms look likely when i'm leaving work. i've had the wind come up on me a few times with it open. other umbrellas nearby turned inside out and mine stayed the right way round. whatever they've done with the frame seems to make a difference when the weather changes like that.

Got to school and realised an umbrella was one thing I hadn't packed. Looked around and ended up with this one, which has been a really good buy. Fair price too. It's been out plenty this semester, including when we had some very wet and windy weather on campus. A few umbrellas around me were folding the wrong way but mine kept its shape and kept me dry. Decent coverage without being huge. Good value, good size, good value, would definitely recommend.

i was looking for an umbrella to take on my walk to school and this seemed worth trying. i've only had it out a few times yet, but i like it overall. the cover is a good size for something that folds down, especially when the rain is coming in sideways a bit. im a commuting student with a backpack most days and i can keep some of the bag under it too, though not all of it if its blowing about. i find the grip comfortable and haven't needed both hands to keep hold of it on the windy days i've tried. that makes stopping for groceries less of a juggling job. after the rain has finished, the loop handle is nice to carry it by and it packs away smaller than a long umbrella. my little complaints are more about getting used to it. i needed a few goes to find the angle that suited me in the wind, and putting it away neatly is a bit fiddly. the button brings the canopy in, then you push the shaft down by hand. that part works fine, its just gathering the damp material up for the sleeve that takes me longer than i'd like. i haven't worked out a way of doing that with completely dry hands. i'd still recommend it for walking in wet weather, its useful to have in my bag, just allow a moment to put it away before getting on the bus.

The pink wasn't quite the shade I had in mind from the picture, but that's the only disappointment so far. It stood up to a breezy wet day better than the cheap umbrellas I usually use. Folded it is still rather chunky, and definitely not something I'd use as a walking stick. But the canopy gives decent coverage, which matters more to me because the rain where I live seems to arrive sideways half the time.

Rain and wind together the other day. Just miserable. This umbrella made getting to the car a lot less unpleasant, though. The canopy kept most of the rain off and didn't turn inside out while I was trying to get the door open. There was a gust that caught the car door, but I still had a firm hold on the umbrella. I was impressed. Being able to collapse the canopy with the button helped when getting in, too.

I can stay out later in the morning now instead of heading straight home. For a quick shop visit I don't usually bother, because it is extra weight to carry. This is a nice umbrella, even if I apparently pictured myself fitting under it with room to spare. I'm a grown man and should probably look at the size instead of just the photos. As a mostly "picture" shopper I had imagined something a little broader. It gives decent cover, but I can still get rain on my shoulders when it comes at an angle. Nothing wrong with the umbrella really, more my expectations (and my shoulders). I am keeping it because that hasn't been enough of a nuisance to bother me.

Chicago weather has finished off enough umbrellas for me that I finally spent some time looking for something sturdier. I read through reviews and tried three reasonably priced ones to see which would actually last. This opened wider than I expected from the folded size, which made me think it might struggle more, but it surprised me!!! It has been out in windy rain and has come home in one piece. I am not expecting to stay perfectly dry when rain is blowing sideways, that seems a lot to ask of any handheld umbrella. My main concern was whether it would keep its shape instead of turning inside out and becoming another umbrella for the bin. The flexible ribs seem to give a little rather than fight every movement, and it has held its shape in the gusts I've encountered. Something to bear in mind..I'm a man weighing about 180 pounds and fairly fit, and holding it steady still took some effort. My hand was aching from gripping it and I could feel the wind pulling against me at times. So although I'm pleased with how it has held up, I can see how somebody might find it tiring to hang onto when the weather gets rough.

That is a fair trade for having decent cover over my head, rather than fighting to keep an umbrella the right way round.The button is useful for bringing the canopy down before I get on the bus. You still push the shaft back down yourself, which took a little getting used to. I'm female and only 5 feet 2, and had pictured something smaller when folded. It is compact compared with a full length umbrella, but not something that disappears into my handbag. The loop handle is comfortable enough to hold, although it adds to the overall bulk. If you travel on public transportation a lot, check that you have somewhere convenient to put it.

At the moment I'm leaving it at four stars....I've not had enough use out of it to say how it will do over several months. If it keeps doing what it should, I can see that becoming five. These umbrellas have been good to our family. We've had a few in cream white, and the only reason we've needed another has been leaving one somewhere. Our son has been fascinated with ours for all of his seven years, so it hasn't exactly had a quiet life. Being carried about and played with by a toddler, then a bigger child, hasn't stopped it working. It's a relief to have an umbrella that lasts rather than one that just looks promising. This umbrella has done exactly what I wanted. There's good cover over my head and shoulders, and I can tuck my handbag in close without leaving it out in the rain. It feels reassuringly solid when the weather is breezy, rather than something I have to fuss over constantly. The weight was noticeable at first, because I was used to carrying much flimsier umbrellas, but I don't mind it now. I've had people stop and ask about it, and one woman mentioned it would be useful for watching her children's games. The plain black looks smart with whatever I'm wearing, which is a bonus. I bought two in cream white for my boys, who are 7 and 5, and they love having their own umbrellas. "They're WHITE!" We had an older umbrella stolen so I ordered these, and I'm glad I did. The one we still had has been around for two years and I wanted something that felt just as dependable. We walk to school together and these have been very handy in the rain. They give the boys good cover and they especially like listening to the drops hitting the top. The button is easy to find; I help with pushing the shaft back down afterwards, since that part is done by hand. I also like that they fold away instead of leaving us carrying long umbrellas once we get indoors. Letting them dry out before putting them away has been simple enough. :)
Update after 5 months: They've been out with us a lot and both still look good!
UPDATE after two years: Still being used, still opening properly, and nothing torn. Brilliant!

Good value for what you get. I like the plain styling and the loop handle. It is a CLOSED oval, not an open hook, which makes a difference to how you carry it. The button closes the canopy; the stem still needs compressing afterwards. So there are TWO steps to putting it away, rather than everything retracting by itself.Very nicely made.

It seemed a little weighty in my hand initially, but that is much less noticeable overhead. Coped well with the gusts I've met! My one wish is some sortof shoulder strap, something simple for carrying it when the rain stops....I haven't found a convenient way of doing that yet....

The new golf bag I have has a tube meant for an umbrella, and after getting caught in a few showers it seemed sensible to fill it. I went with this compact one rather than something very long.
The good: Opened up, it provides decent cover without being a huge thing to carry about. The canopy has enough shape to it that I feel properly sheltered underneath, not just covered directly over my head. There is some flexibility in the ribs as well. Opening it with a press is convenient, especially when you have already got other things in your hands.
The less good; As an umbrella I am pleased with it, but folded up it is too broad for the tube in my bag. That is mainly why I have taken a star off. I checked the folded length and didn't give much thought to the width. Not sure whether the holder is particularly narrow or this is just a thicker bundle.
Putting it away is also more involved than getting it open. The button draws the canopy shut, then the telescoping sections need pressing together by hand and the material gathering neatly. That is how it is meant to work, but it takes a little attention when I want to get moving again. Good cover and manageable to carry, just not quite the neat fit into my golf bag I had pictured.
