I chose blue umbrellas as Christmas gifts for my staff. They were very happy with them. Wanted something fair for evrryone, not too personal, and reasonably priced. They all walk quite a way from the parking garage to the office and I've heard plenty about ordinary umbrellas not coping with the wind there. These seemed a good fit for that. Taking care over the color made it feel more thoughtful than just buying everyone an umbrella

Easy to open and fold with the button.
Fairly light to carry but feels solidly put together. Easy to open and fold with the button. The closing part isn't such a big advantage since you still push the shaft back down yourself. The handle is reasonably comfortable, I just wish it had another half inch of length. I wear medium or large gloves depending on the fit. My index finger ends up over the top of the oval handle, leaving room for my middle and ring fingers but not quite my little finger. For the money I still think it's a sturdy, worthwhile umbrella, even though a slightly longer grip would suit me better.

One star off because the handle adds noticeable weight
Looks smart, which mattered to me, and the button is straightforward to use. Once folded it goes in my larger handbag or a backpack without much fuss. One star off because the handle adds noticeable weight; I wouldn't pick this if a very light umbrella was the main priority.

My hesitation is about sun protection, not how the umbrella works.
My hesitation is about sun protection, not how the umbrella works. The pink canopy has a black underside and gives good shade, but I don't know what that means in terms of UV protection, and I haven't found a rating to go by. Otherwise I'd be at five stars, because it's a handy size, the oval handle is comfortable to hold, and the included sleeve is useful when I carry it in my bag without needing it open.

My work is downtown, where the wind gets channeled between buildings & catches you as you turn a corner. This umbrella has stayed the right way round on the rainy walks I've used it for. It feels dependable, which matters more to me than saving a little on the price.

The green is a cheerful change from what I usually carry too.
It has a more substantial feel than I expected and I do notice it in my bag. Very solid though, and it folds down neatly before opening up to a useful size. The green is a cheerful change from what I usually carry too. We haven't had much rain this past winter so it hasn't been out very often yet. I'd still be happy to buy a second one if my boyfriend takes a liking to it (he is stationed in Cuba and gets some proper downpours there) when he comes to visit.

For a folding umbrella this is a good, fairly light one.
For a folding umbrella this is a good, fairly light one. Closed, it's roughly 40cm end to end, which is still a fair length if you want to put it in a purse. Press the button and it opens out quickly, with enough cover for one person. The loop handle feels comfortable and gives me a secure grip. The ribs have some flexibility, which I like, and it all gathers back up reasonably neatly to go in the sleeve. It's a nice plain looking umbrella, to my eye more of a man's style. The size is the catch for me - smaller than carrying a full length umbrella, but not really small enough for my purse. In heavy rain I wouldn't expect the same all-over coverage as a big full-sized one either. For a man with a messenger bag I think it's a useful size to put inside or carry on the bag, without looking too fussy, especially in gray.I ended up giving mine to my man - he's happy with it and I like the look of him carrying it

Simple idea, but it works for me.
Michigan weather is never very dependable & I like having an umbrella close by. Mine has been used for years now, through plenty of rain and those days when the weather changes its mind halfway out. It has done what I needed every time. The folded size is useful because I can put it in a work bag or leave it in the storage space in my car door. I use it all over the place. Since the first one I have picked up more & spread them around the house and the bags I take to different jobs. That way I don't have to remember which bag has the umbrella in it. Simple idea, but it works for me. Very good.

The coverage is good and it isn't a burden to carry.
Walking is part of my day whatever the weather is doing. I used to just put up with getting damp, until all the rain lately meant arriving at work with wet clothes. This has made a big difference. The coverage is good and it isn't a burden to carry. It goes into my shoulder bag easily, which was important to me.It also fits in the car door when I leave it there. Has felt solid on my wet, breezy walks so far. Really should of sorted myself out with one earlier. I'd happily replace it with the same.
Deborah Giles
The push button is handy as well.
My girlfriend had been wanting an umbrella like this and she's happy with it. The fabric feels substantial and the ribs have some give, so it doesn't seem like something that will bend at the first bit of wind. The push button is handy as well. I knocked off a star because folded up it still won't go in her usual purse, which is where she wanted to keep it.

Chicago supplies plenty of hot air in more ways than one, but this…
Chicago supplies plenty of hot air in more ways than one, but this umbrella has been steady in the actual breezes on my walks. I can keep my shoulder bags under cover along with me, which is handy, although it's a little bulkier to carry folded than I would prefer.
Ruth Morales
I have a smaller umbrella too, but this gives me the coverage I need.
I have a smaller umbrella too, but this gives me the coverage I need. In Hawaii the rain can catch you even with the sun shining. My parking spot is a bit of a walk from the job site and I can get there with my bag dry under this. Two can stand close beneath it, although it's more comfortable for one walking along. Pressing the button to gather the canopy makes narrow doorways much easier, then the shaft needs a push down by hand. Best to shake off the water before going inside when possible. Now if somebody can make folding wet umbrella fabric a tidier business, that would be something. I never get mine looking like it did when it was new. Somebody figure that part out for me.

Beautiful umbrella and it feels so solid, I really LOVE it !
Beautiful umbrella and it feels so solid, I really LOVE it ! The plain black looks smart.... nothing fussy, just a lovely shape when it's open. There is a generous amount of cover for something that folds up, and I don't find it awkward to take along. The frame feels reassuring when a little wind gets up, rather than making me nervous about holding it. Pressing the button sends the canopy straight up; another press folds the canopy in, then I push the telescoping shaft down to pack it away. All quite simple. The oval loop at the bottom is comfortable in my hand and easy to get a proper hold on.Looking forward to having it on the next rainy day ! Very happy !

This looks quite cute but it's tougher in use than the appearance suggests. The handle has a solid feel and it's been fine on the windy walks I've taken it on. Those flexible ribs still make me a little nervous though, I keep wondering how they'll do over time. Nothing has gone wrong, just not completely convinced about long term durability yet.
Suzanne Barrett
The button works as it did at the start and nothing feels flimsy.
My daughter has had this at grad school for three months now. It has coped well with her rainy, breezy walks around Chicago and still looks in good shape. The button works as it did at the start and nothing feels flimsy. For the price, I think it has been a really useful purchase.

It seems a very decent umbrella, opening to a useful size.
Picked this as a gift and had a look before giving it. It seems a very decent umbrella, opening to a useful size. The gray is attractive without being loud. Folding down rather than staying full length should make it a practical choice for an older person to carry.
Bailey Acevedo
Nicely finished and a fair price.
Pink definitely appeals to the little girls and some not so little ones too. Folded up it looks fairly compact, but opened this is a proper umbrella, not just something for playing dress up. Nicely finished and a fair price. The postage made the total less exciting, but, well, that's how it goes.
Kara Mosley
Happy to have finally found one that suits me.
I'd been searching for a pink umbrella I could use for shade as well as rain. Have taken this one out a few times and it's been excellent. Much nicer on my walks in the Australian summer to have some shade overhead, without always wearing a hat that flattens my hair! It is quite sturdy, not the lightest thing to leave in a handbag, but I would rather that than something flimsy. The plain pink outside with the black underneath is a lovely combination. Happy to have finally found one that suits me.

My boys are thrilled with their umbrellas.
My boys are thrilled with their umbrellas. Starting school made me realize we really ought to have some for wet mornings. The button is simple for them to use, and they've learned to push the shaft down after the canopy closes. They're four and six and like managing their own.
Glen Gilmore
I can see why people like this umbrella.
I can see why people like this umbrella. It feels solid and hasn't turned inside out on me in breezy weather. We get a lot of sun here, so I use it for shade as well, and standing under it feels more comfortable. It's holding up better than the umbrellas I used to carry.
Bryce Riley
A practical gift that still looks nice.
The plain black finish looks smart and the size seems just right. I picked this out as a present and am quite tempted to keep it myself! It folds down neatly without looking like a tiny umbrella once it's up. I think she will be delighted with it. Always useful to have one ready when another gets left somewhere. A practical gift that still looks nice.
Christine Orr
The canopy gives adequate coverage for me.
Basically, the handle is a closed oval loop, and it sits reasonably well in my hand. My reservation is the amount of room the umbrella occupies when folded. I wanted something less noticeable to carry with the cart. That is a preference about packed size, rather than a problem with how the umbrella operates.
There is an automatic button, so you don't have to slide a runner upwards to get the canopy open. Another press collapses the canopy, although the telescoping section needs pushing down manually before putting it away. Once I'd done that a couple of times, the sequence was straightforward enough. Nothing there has caused me any trouble.
The canopy gives adequate coverage for me. In ordinary rain, I have no real criticism of it, and the handle remains comfortable while carrying it. My objection comes back to the folded package, which is simply larger than I had pictured for my particular arrangement.
I'd be more inclined to choose something shorter when folded if starting again. However, carrying this separately instead of trying to squeeze it in with the other cart gear settled the space annoyance. It is perfectly usable that way.
Overall: 1/5 stars. The low score is down to my personal size preference, not its rain protection or mechanism. With the carrying arrangement sorted out, the umbrella itself has been satisfactory.

Picked this out for a little girl through a charity gift program.
Picked this out for a little girl through a charity gift program. An umbrella was on her wish list, so I was happy to find one that looked so nice. I wasn't there to watch her try it, but I hope opening her gift gave her a smile and kept some Christmas magic going

Happy with the umbrella overall.
Took a lot longer to arrive than I expected. By the time it turned up I was wondering if I should have bothered, but I liked it once I had it open. There was some dust to wipe away, otherwise the pink looks just like the picture. The coverage is good and two people can share if they stay close. I'd been a bit doubtful about the handle and how easily it would open. The oval loop feels sturdy enough in my hand, and the canopy comes up with very little effort using the button. Happy with the umbrella overall. The wait is really the thing that stops me giving it full marks.
Holly Gallegos
One press of the button opens the umbrella.
A few practical observations on the green model. The stated open size is approximately 105cm; this is a compact handheld umbrella, not a large golf model. For one adult the coverage is reasonable, but I would not choose it specifically to shelter two people. Folded length is about 40cm and weight roughly 390g, so 'compact' does not mean pocket-sized here. The canopy is green above and black underneath. There are 30 flexible ribs supporting it. The handle forms a closed oval loop, rather than having the open curve of a conventional hooked handle. One press of the button opens the umbrella. Another press brings the canopy down, but does not retract the telescoping stem; that final step is manual. The mechanism has been straightforward to use. My reservation is the folded length, which is greater than I would prefer in a compact model. In normal rain it has otherwise been satisfactory. I have not assessed it in severe conditions.

The oval handle is lovely too!
I'm delighted with this umbrella! the blue is much nicer in person, a clear rich colour rather than the dull shade I thought I saw in the photo. Initially the open canopy seemed a bit large, but after a few outings I started appreciating that extra cover. The oval handle is lovely too! A different look from the usual hooked handles, and pleasant to carry.
Jeffrey Mahoney
This one is pretty all the same.
I bought this mainly for rain, and I have balance trouble so what I carry matters to me. Still feel too young to be carrying a cane, but this isn't a substitute for one and I wouldn't lean my weight on it. The loop handle is comfortable to hold, and when opened it gives me a nice bit of cover. I had fancied something a little more frilly, even though it spends most of its time folded up. This one is pretty all the same. Mine is green. Might get another color.
Bianca Shepard
I like using this around the city.
I like using this around the city. It gives me a bit of breathing space among the other umbrellas, so I'm not always ducking away from their edges. A gust can still tug at it, which means keeping a firm grip. Mine also had a fine dusty coating when I unpacked it, and having to wipe it down before using it was irritating. That said, once cleaned up it did its job well. It covers me and the bags I normally carry without a lot of rearranging as I walk. A couple of annoyances, but the useful coverage makes it good value to me.
Jo Richards
The frame design is the best part for me.
The frame design is the best part for me. The flexible ribs allow a bit of movement, while the mechanism feels reassuringly solid. It's coped with breezes without giving me that feeling it's about to turn inside out. I still reach for a bigger umbrella when I know heavy rain is coming, but this stays in my messenger bag for those times I've forgotten to look at the forecast. It's a sturdy compact option and I'm glad to have it with me.

They still come up whenever she tells someone about herself.
My eldest is coming up on her sixth birthday, and lately anything she liked a little while ago gets dismissed as being too babyish. Rainbows and unicorns have somehow survived that rule, though. They still come up whenever she tells someone about herself. Meanwhile she had her eye on the umbrella her sister had saved up and paid for herself, which was causing more discussion than an umbrella really ought to. At the craft shop she spotted one of those very cheap umbrellas and wanted to spend her money on it immediately. I asked her to hold off, partly because it didn't look made to last, and used her approaching birthday as my reason. Then of course I realized I'd more or less promised an umbrella and needed to find one! After looking through quite a few choices I settled on this in Cream White. It seemed a good choice for someone so determined to have more grown up things, and she was delighted with it. It opens neatly with the button and feels much more substantial than the shop one we left behind. Now both sisters have their own when it rains, instead of negotiating over one, and they look very sweet heading out together. The quality compares nicely with the one her sister chose, without costing as much. Glad I followed through on that birthday suggestion!

Hello.
Hello.
It folds small enough for my bag and is comfortable enough to carry, though it isn't an umbrella I would choose for very windy weather.
The open canopy suits one person, not a group.
For keeping with me for ordinary showers it is exactly the sort of thing I wanted.
Thank you.
Tanner Douglas
two can share if they stay close, but it isn't a big group umbrella.
Bought this at a price I was happy with, mostly hoping for something that could cover a couple of people in the rain. In practice I find it best for one person; two can share if they stay close, but it isn't a big group umbrella. That has actually made it much more useful for me on a busy pavement. I can carry it folded in my bag instead of lugging a long one around. If I'd taken a minute to check the dimensions I'd have had a clearer idea of the size, but I'm glad I ended up with it. I'd recommend it for everyday carrying rather than anyone wanting a HUGE canopy for several people at outdoor events.
Sheri Clayton
A really nice umbrella.
A really nice umbrella. The construction feels dependable, which was reassuring when I opened it up. It's compact, comfortable to carry, and the button makes getting it ready very simple. It looks smart without being fussy about it. I'm very happy with this one.
Larry Rosales
Does exactly what i want an umbrella to do.
Picked up my little old umbrella again and it felt so flimsy after getting used to this one. This has a much more substantial feel and gives me plenty of cover. I even held it over myself while tending the grill in the rain and could manage it one handed. Does exactly what i want an umbrella to do.
Marie Booth
A very useful Umbrella.
I bring this on walks when the weather looks uncertain. Strong enough feeling without being a burden to carry. My partner uses a rollinator (walking aid) and it is handy having some cover ready if the rain catches us out. I hold it while we walk close together rather than each carrying one. Also gives welcome Shade when we end up on a sunny stretch. A very useful Umbrella.
Louis Garrett
much less juggling with a wet umbrella.
Heavy rain hasn't come along for me to give this a proper test yet, but the first impressions are encouraging. The automatic opening and canopy folding were what drew me to it, and those parts are very convenient. It's particularly useful moving from the pavement into a taxi or getting through a doorway... much less juggling with a wet umbrella. The part I find less easy is shortening it fully afterwards. The button gathers the canopy, not the whole pole, so you still have to push that in by hand until it catches. That takes a firm push, and I usually stop and use both hands rather than try to hurry it. It's manageable, just a little more effort than I had imagined. Folded up, it goes comfortably in my larger handbags and the sleeve is useful for putting it away. I did also think the open canopy would feel a little roomier. It covers me and the things I'm carrying, but doesn't have much spare space compared with my previous one. Those are fairly small reservations overall. It feels solid, it looks neat, and I'm pleased with it.
Cathy Hill
there's only so much an umbrella can cover.
The speed it springs open caught me by surprise, in a good way. I've stayed dry underneath it in some fairly heavy rain, with no water coming through the fabric. Wind can still send rain onto my trousers, obviously; there's only so much an umbrella can cover. Folding it away at the door is straightforward and it hasn't taken long to dry afterwards. I spent ages trying to pick a compact umbrella that didn't feel flimsy, and this has been a satisfying choice. Not burdensome to carry, yet it feels reassuringly solid once it's in my hand.
Jamie Torres
Maybe a photograph with someone using it would help?
I would have liked a bit more length in the shaft, and I couldn't really judge that from the dimensions. Numbers don't always tell you how something will feel when you hold it. Maybe a photograph with someone using it would help? I do like the appearance though, and the way it springs open is lovely.
Connie Marshall
We've had fairly ordinary rain so far and it's kept me dry enough.
For getting around town this feels about the right size. It slips into its sleeve when I'm finished with it, which keeps everything together in my bag. We've had fairly ordinary rain so far and it's kept me dry enough. Haven't had a really blustery day to judge it properly yet, but I'm happy with it up to now.
Gail Potter
Beige is a pleasant alternative to the usual black.
For daily use, the push button is a real convenience, both for opening and closing the canopy. There is a useful amount of cover and the flexible ribs feel sturdy without too much weight. Beige is a pleasant alternative to the usual black. The sleeve is handy for keeping everything together when the umbrella is put away.
Janet Fritz
It keeps her dry and she absolutely loves using it.
Well, it didn't look particularly special to me when I unpacked it. My five year old granddaughter sees it differently, though. She can press the button to open it herself and hold it comfortably. It keeps her dry and she absolutely loves using it. That makes it a five star umbrella here!
Holly Blake
Probably the handiest thing I've bought in ages!
Probably the handiest thing I've bought in ages! Doesn't cost a fortune, feels dependable, and slips into my larger purses easily. I'm walking all over campus most days, so having an umbrella with me instead of hoping the weather stays nice has been great. Absolutely delighted with it!
Devon Moss
I ordered a second for my wife and she's been equally happy with hers.
Clips onto my laptop bag and doesn't leave a big awkward bundle hanging off it. I've had it out a few times now, and the button action has been straightforward. No really wild weather to report on, so I can't speak for that, but it seems a good deal more substantial than the flimsy folding ones I've used before. I ordered a second for my wife and she's been equally happy with hers.
Ian Madden
Pretty umbrella with plenty of cover.
Pretty umbrella with plenty of cover. I wanted something simple for the rain and this has been a good choice. The beige is nice without being too much. We've had lots of wet days lately so it has had plenty of use. Feels a decent quality too. I get fed up with umbrellas that make everything a struggle, especially when you're trying to get in the car. Everyday things shouldn't need fussing with and I've found this one easy enough.
Kirk Freeman
Really pleased with this one.
Really pleased with this one. It has coped well with the breezy rain we get here in upstate New York, and the automatic opening and canopy closing are very useful. Cost more than I'd normally pay, but it has lasted better than the umbrellas I usually manage to ruin.
Micheal Price
So here it is, and so far it has that same solid feel.
I had one of these a couple of years back and it was the umbrella I always reached for. Quick to get open, decent coverage and it seemed to cope well in windy weather. Then it met the fate of so many umbrellas....I left it somewhere. No idea where. After putting up with cheap replacements that never felt as nice, it finally occurred to me.....why am I not just getting the same thing again ?So here it is, and so far it has that same solid feel. The release button needs a more deliberate press than I remember on the old one, which is my only real gripe. It still opens promptly once pressed. Closing the canopy is quick too; shortening the pole afterwards is a separate push by hand rather than something the button does. I like that I can fold it away for carrying instead of dealing with a long stick umbrella. Early days with this replacement.....but I'm hoping to keep track of this one a bit better.
Dana Huynh
It's easy to bring along and makes a nice shady spot for me.
For years I've wanted my own shade at the baseball games I go to. I'm getting older and still don't have a wrinkle, and yes I am proud of that! I've always preferred sitting out of direct sun. Now I can put this umbrella up and watch my grandchildren play instead of worrying about where to sit. It's easy to bring along and makes a nice shady spot for me. Everybody seems to want to borrow it now! I can see myself ordering another before long. Delighted I finally got around to this, thank you!
Sonya Poole
Very useful umbrella for me.
Very useful umbrella for me. It goes in my backpack's side pocket and opens out to give a decent amount of cover, even for someone beside me if we stand close. No trouble with the breezes I've used it in. If I were being picky, I'd prefer a little more room inside the loop handle.
Dakota Steele
It has handled the usual Seattle rain well for me.
It has handled the usual Seattle rain well for me. The canopy keeps the water off and I haven't noticed any dampness coming through the fabric. What I would say is that having lots of flexible ribs doesn't mean I want to test it in every gust. It still feels like a compact umbrella, not something I'd choose over a full size one if the weather was really rough. I was hoping for something a little lighter to leave in my bag, too, and I do notice the weight. On balance it's a decent everyday umbrella. The button works smoothly and it's small enough folded to take along, which is mainly what I wanted. I think it's best judged as a useful rain umbrella rather than some answer to every kind of weather.
Anita Jordan
This is a folding umbrella with a sensible carrying size.
This is a folding umbrella with a sensible carrying size. Opened out it has a broad canopy supported by 30 flexible ribs, which feels substantial for something that folds away. The handle is the bit that I keep noticing. It's a closed oval loop rather than a hooked end, and I find it comfortable to get hold of. I prefer having that complete shape to hold instead of trying to grip a little straight handle. Feels secure without being awkward. This will go into my tote or a larger purse, and it also fits underneath the car seat, so there are several places I can keep it handy.
