It seems sturdy enough to get plenty of use!

After some much needed rain here I discovered my old umbrella wasn't up to the job anymore. I'm glad I chose this replacement! It looks smart and the mechanism moves smoothly, without me having to fiddle with it. Choosing a colour was the difficult part, but I'm delighted with pink. It seems sturdy enough to get plenty of use!

Wanted something with better coverage while waiting for buses and walking round sightseeing in wet weather. This has turned out to be a decent, sturdy umbrella and has managed rainy, breezy days nicely so far. We're happy with the choice and keep it in the car ready for the next downpour.

It's been an excellent present.

For my birthday I received this umbrella in green, as I needed something handy for the journey to work. It's been an excellent present. Takes up little space in my bag, isn't a burden to carry, and one press with my thumb gets it open when the rain starts. My old umbrella has given me years of use and is still going despite looking rather tired. I'm hoping this one will be around for just as long, and the first impressions are certainly good!

It feels solid and the button is straightforward to use.

Finding an umbrella that would go in my work bag without being tiny once opened took me a while. This folds away neatly but has a surprisingly generous canopy! It feels solid and the button is straightforward to use. There is a little more weight to carry than I'd ideally like, but overall it's one of the better umbrellas I've had in the last few years.

The closed loop handle is also easy to get hold of.

I bought this with the children in mind, but I'm the one who keeps reaching for it now. Being compact and quick to get open makes a real difference. There's enough cover for me without trying to steer a huge umbrella with one hand while getting into the car. I like being able to press the button and have the canopy fold before I bring it inside, rather than dragging a big wet umbrella across everything. The shaft still needs pushing down by hand to finish packing it away, which is worth knowing. For the children I help with that part. The button is much less fiddly to me than hunting for a little metal release on the shaft, especially with wet hands. The closed loop handle is also easy to get hold of. Nothing elaborate, just an umbrella that's straightforward enough that it actually gets used.

I'd expect a good few years out of it.

We originally picked this up for shade during the summer. Standing underneath is noticeably more comfortable than being out in the direct sun.Yesterday it finally got a proper outing in the rain and kept us dry there too. Two of us can share it if we stay close, though I mostly use it on my own. The frame and fabric seem better finished than the shop umbrellas I looked at for similar money. I'd expect a good few years out of it.

I didn't have it nearly long enough.

At school the weather seems to change its mind halfway through every sentence. I kept this umbrella with me all the time, and it earned its place in my bag. Some walks were very gusty and I had to keep a proper grip, but the frame held together and I could get on with walking instead of fighting it.The drawback was that my backpack wasn't completely covered. The top got wet, which isn't ideal with a laptop inside. A small towel tucked into the top sorted that out, so it wasn't a deal breaker. I actually started minding the rainy walks less, which is saying something.Unfortunately somebody decided they liked it too and stole it. I didn't have it nearly long enough. Missing an umbrella feels a bit ridiculous, but I do miss this one, and I'm going to buy another!

Has been fine in gusty rain too.

After enough messing about with flimsy umbrellas, I would sooner pay a little more for one that actually earns its keep. This one has a solid frame and a canopy that covers me properly, rather than just the top of my head. Has been fine in gusty rain too. Money spent once instead of wasted again.

There is a useful amount of cover for a folding umbrella.

There is a useful amount of cover for a folding umbrella. Two of us can tuck underneath, although we need to stay close rather than stroll with space between us. It has handled breezy rain better than I anticipated, with the frame giving a little rather than feeling rigid. Folded up it is a manageable length, rather than a long stick to carry around. It's still substantial enough that I may get a smaller umbrella as well for times when I want to travel as light as possible.

A nice addition if you like a slightly gothic or old fashioned look.

Nearly everything I wear is black or white, so the green really stands out with it.I'd been hunting for an umbrella that felt a little more elegant, and this looks lovely opened up. Makes even a dull day feel dressed up.I could carry it as a parasol too, though I'm still deciding how much attention I want with the green on a sunny day. It's a generous size when open but not too much to handle, and the button is easy to use. A nice addition if you like a slightly gothic or old fashioned look.

Patty Horn

I can't remember exactly what that one was.

The blue is lovely, though this isn't quite the same as the umbrella I lost. I can't remember exactly what that one was. This is a useful size when up and packs down well. My only niggle is pushing the telescoping section down after the button shuts the canopy. It needs a firmer push than I find comfortable. Nothing is wrong with it, I just wish that last part were easier.

Jeanne Todd

There is some bulk and weight to it when packed away.

I have carried this around for a couple of months, but have actually needed it in the rain just once, so I can't offer a long-term verdict yet. Previous compact umbrellas have left me wary, although this one gives a much better impression when you hold it. It is really a one-person canopy, which suits me, and the folded umbrella goes in my bag rather than needing to be carried separately. There is some bulk and weight to it when packed away. Looking at the number of ribs and how substantial the frame feels, that doesn't particularly surprise me. The ribs can flex, which I would rather have than something that feels rigid and brittle. For someone wanting a portable umbrella that still feels robust, I think it is a very good option. Durability is the remaining question, simply because carrying it about isn't the same as using it daily in bad weather. Nothing has given me cause for concern so far. The oval handle is fairly small, as you would expect on a compact umbrella, but feels secure in my hand.

Three years on and mine is still going, which is impressive

Three years on and mine is still going, which is impressive; me still knowing where it is may be the bigger achievement! Resetting the shaft takes a firm push, but apparently I value this one enough not to leave it behind when a restaurant visit outlasts the rain.

Don't read too much into my five stars yet.

Don't read too much into my five stars yet. This arrived today on a sunny spring day in Cincinnati, so there's been no rain or wind test. Still, it looks and feels like quality. It's got more heft than most compacts, which I like; the fabric and frame feel substantial. Button opening and canopy closing both work as they should. Closing isn't the same as making the whole thing short again. The telescoping shaft needs pressing down by hand for that last step. Once you know that, it's straightforward. If you appreciate something that feels well made, I think this is money worth spending.

Those short walks are enough to make me want shade.

WONDERFUL TO HAVE. Here in Nevada the sunshine can feel like somebody aimed enormous stage lights at you (not the little household kind)!! I use this between my apartment and the car, then get it out again when I reach wherever I'm going. Those short walks are enough to make me want shade. After a bad experience with sunstroke as a teenager, I take being out in strong sun seriously. Many sunscreens irritate my skin as well, so having shade I can carry is a real comfort alongside my usual sun precautions. I don't like going anywhere without this umbrella now. Being able to put it up quickly helps so much. A REALLY USEFUL PART OF MY EVERYDAY ROUTINE.

Neat gray umbrella and keeps me dry.

Neat gray umbrella and keeps me dry. Hadn't paid much attention to the folded size before buying. Takes up more space than I expected and won't go in my little purse, though a backpack would be fine. Kept it anyway because the gray looks so nice. It came neatly packed and I am pleased with it.

Patty Rich

gray looks nice, feels light enough and works every time.

my other half is hopeless with sunglasses and umbrellas, loses things or fights with them. this one opens by button and the canopy shuts that way too, just push the stem down after. gray looks nice, feels light enough and works every time. keeping track of it is the next challenge.

Ariana Wiley

Ordered it in case rain turned up on my wedding day.

Ordered it in case rain turned up on my wedding day. It got plenty of practice first, with the wet weather we've been having here in Chicago. A cheerful thing to carry on gloomy days, and it has coped well with showers and the odd gust. Cheers little umbrella!

Katie Bryan

Haven't tried them in much wind yet.

Attractive umbrellas and they feel quite substantial. Haven't tried them in much wind yet. CONS: A little bulkier when folded than I had pictured. I wanted fairly simple umbrellas to give as gifts, and these do look smart, but they're not quite the small package I had in mind.

Jillian Braun

The part that annoyed me was getting through the outer packaging.

The part that annoyed me was getting through the outer packaging. I had four umbrellas to put into a backpack, and I just wanted to unpack them and get them ready. Nothing complicated! But I did find the wrapping a nuisance. I unpacked the first two and was quite happy with the actual umbrellas. The beige is a nice plain colour, and folded up they seemed sensible for what I needed. Then I got to the other two... more packaging to clear away before I could put everything together. It wasn't that anything was damaged, because it wasn't. I just didn't enjoy having all that outer wrapping to deal with. For me, there is a difference between protecting something and making the unpacking feel like more of a job than it needs to be. When you have several to sort out at once, it is the bit you notice. I wanted the umbrellas, NOT the pile of packaging. Having said all that, once I had cleared the wrapping away, that was the end of the problem. All four fitted into the backpack, and the umbrellas themselves were satisfactory. The button worked as it should and the canopy gave decent coverage. So my annoyance is really about that first part, rather than the umbrellas I ended up with.

Diane Kemp

I think she'll be delighted with it.

I wanted a cream white automatic umbrella as a Christmas present for my mother-in-law. She had been quite definite about the colour, so I didn't want to choose something else. This looks just right for her and the button opening is what I was after. I think she'll be delighted with it.

Having something for both sun and sudden rain is useful here.

I live in Hawaii and have very fair skin, so the sunscreen goes on every day and a compact umbrella usually comes along too. Having something for both sun and sudden rain is useful here. I spent a little more on this one and I feel it was worthwhile. It isn't the smallest or lightest thing in my bag, but once it is up there is a good patch of shade, which makes carrying it seem less of a bother. I still keep up with sunscreen, of course. Standing beneath it is simply more comfortable than having the sun on me. The frame feels reassuring when there is a little breeze as well, though I wouldn't push my luck when it gets really gusty.

Steven Boone

There's room for me and my small dog when he stays right alongside.

I hadn't looked at the description properly so it opened bigger than what I had in mind. BUT it feels really well made and turned out useful for walking the dog. There's room for me and my small dog when he stays right alongside. Not the size I expected but I'm glad I kept it.

Rhonda Terrell

turns out she thinks it's lovely.

Picked this up for my 8-year-old. Looks very sweet. Folded, it goes into her backpack with the rest of her things. I wasn't sure she'd be excited about green....turns out she thinks it's lovely. The size works well for us and she's been happy taking it along!

Maurice Durham

It arrived safely with no damage. The ribs are sturdy and the inside is coated, so it blocks UV too, and thanks to the handle it's easy to hang on a bag. It's a little stiff to fold, but it should loosen up after a few uses.

A very good umbrella for me!

Finally, some "ROOM"! My earlier umbrella's were much smaller,so this feels quite generous when I'm underneath it;not complaining, though,as I like staying dry! The whole thing seems properly put together---right down to the handle! A very good umbrella for me!

John Estrada

I love how this looks.

I love how this looks. The beige is just as lovely in person, really smart without being showy. I crammed it underneath everything in my bag and then wondered why the fabric looked creased. My own doing, not the umbrella's fault. Still think it's a great buy.

Crystal Sherman

I thought the quality was very good.

Chose this for my friend, she is musician like me. She was so pleased! It is a useful present rather than just something to look at, that makes it special.I thought the quality was very good. Feels sturdy enough and the button gets it open in one quick press.

Roberto Blair

Chose this as a decoration for a baby shower and it looks lovely.

Chose this as a decoration for a baby shower and it looks lovely. My six year old daughter is having it afterwards, so it won't just sit around once the party is over. The blue is nice, and the dark underside doesn't spoil the look the way I thought it might.

Charlotte Pham

I like how it looks and it has worked nicely in the rain.

I like how it looks and it has worked nicely in the rain. My only niggle is the short gripping area on the loop handle, my whole hand doesn't settle on it comfortably (and I don't have big hands). Still a nice umbrella overall, and I think the price was fair.

Gordon Wong

Much happier with this than my old umbrella.

Well put together and convenient to carry around the golf course. I mainly hold it for shade as I walk, though it is useful when a shower comes through. The flexible ribs seem a sensible idea when a breeze gets up. Much happier with this than my old umbrella.

Elaine Holt

A nice balance of cover and being easy to take along.

Cheers me up on a dull wet day. There's enough room underneath to keep drips off my shoulders, but it doesn't feel like something I should be hauling around a golf course. The frame has felt sturdy so far. A nice balance of cover and being easy to take along.

Scott Branch

I've marked this one's handle so he can recognise it.

My husband seems to leave umbrellas everywhere, so we've had several of these. Still good value, which is a relief considering his track record. I've marked this one's handle so he can recognise it. Perhaps this will be the one that actually comes home again.

Chloe Lowery

Feels well put together and opens to a useful size.

Feels well put together and opens to a useful size. It's fairly chunky when folded, though that seems the tradeoff for a decent canopy and frame. I find the loop handle less convenient to carry than a strap, but overall it feels solid and I'm pleased with it.

Janice Velasquez

Plenty of cover under the canopy too!

My last umbrella vanished from a restaurant, probably mistaken for somebody else's black one (so this time I went for gray! Much easier to spot MINE. The oval handle feels good in the hand and the button is simple to use. Plenty of cover under the canopy too!

Omar Montes

Paid a very fair price for an umbrella that feels properly made.

Paid a very fair price for an umbrella that feels properly made. Everything moves as it should, nothing flimsy about it. Main thing is, we can walk close together under it and stay dry without constantly bumping shoulders trying to squeeze beneath the fabric.

Anthony Robbins

One of the nicest umbrella's we've had...

One of the nicest umbrella's we've had... My wife uses it at outdoor soccer games and is delighted with it! Easy enough to carry, and there's a good amount of cover when the rain starts. She likes how quickly the canopy opens and closes with the button too...

Anthony Jenkins

The frame feels solid, overall I'm happy with it.

Folded up it's fairly short, although quite chunky round the middle. Not the lightest one I have, but still light enough that I'll actually take it along. Haven't tried it out in any really strong wind so far. The frame feels solid, overall I'm happy with it.

Andres Morton

Really durrable and lovely!

Picked up two for our local Renaissance Festival rather than paying the prices there. Both did exactly what we needed and I've kept them for this year's visit too. Really durrable and lovely! The pink one still folds away neatly after being used over and over

Timothy Baker

A few weeks of use and I'm loving it!

A few weeks of use and I'm loving it! It makes sunny days feel less hot when I'm underneath, and it's been good in wet, windy weather too. A gust turned it inside out once and I was sure that was it, but I got it back into shape and it was fine. No harm done.

Ariel Knight

Good coverage for a folding umbrella and it feels well put together.

Good coverage for a folding umbrella and it feels well put together. My only niggle is getting my hand settled around the closed loop handle when it's breezy. It's not quite as natural a grip for me as I expected, particularly when I'm holding something else.

Mindy Vargas

First, the folded umbrella is quite compact.

It is fairly light. First, the folded umbrella is quite compact. The canopy looks smaller than some others once opened. I am a little unsure about taking it out in stronger wind. I suppose this is the balance for having something that is easy to carry around.

Sierra Frank

The price seems fair for what you get.

No proper test in a really strong wind yet, but the look and feel of this are very good. My previous umbrella was hopeless in ANY breeze, so I wanted something more substantial. I've already told a friend about this one! The price seems fair for what you get.

Joyce Yoder

The handle shape suits my hand too.

The fabric sheds water much better than the old umbrellas I've had, and the frame feels very solid. I'm impressed with how well everything is put together. The handle shape suits my hand too. Slightly weightier to carry than I'd like, but otherwise very good.

Adriana Everett

Happy to recommend the umbrella too, it feels good quality.

Parcel was sent out very quickly. Thank you for that, much appreciated. Wishing the seller well. Happy to recommend the umbrella too, it feels good quality. The journey here did take a while, but that seemed to be the postal service rather than slow dispatch.

Sonya Mckay

Such a good umbrella!

Such a good umbrella! Feels sturdy and gives enough cover for me carrying my 6 month old. I can hold it high enough to watch where we're going without losing the shelter. We stayed dry using it, which is what matters. Well worth what I paid. I'd buy it again.

Darrell Kelley

Bought this for grandpa at Christmas - don't know his verdict yet…

Bought this for grandpa at Christmas - don't know his verdict yet - there has only been snow here, not rain!!! I liked what people were saying about it - the price seemed reasonable - and he only has to press a button to open it - so what's there not to like?

Gabriela Gamble

Felt solid in my hand.

I carried this through some breezy East Coast weather and used it in Chicago too. Felt solid in my hand. My mother has it now and she's delighted, It's not the lightest umbrella I've had but that reassuring sturdiness is worth a little weight. Loved using it.

Jane Booker

It gives the impression of being well put together.

There's a reassuring weight to this umbrella, and the canopy material doesn't feel paper thin. It gives the impression of being well put together. Smaller than a golf umbrella, obviously, but two adults can shelter if they're prepared to stand close together.

Nina Cooley

Good value for a carry-around umbrella.

Good value for a carry-around umbrella. It fits in my purse without much fuss and opens wide enough to keep both me and my backpack covered. A few breezy showers haven't bothered it so far. I'd recommend it for someone wanting an affordable everyday umbrella.
