After years of living in a windy area I am quite picky about umbrellas. This one has been dependable in rain, including those days when there's a bit of wind to contend with. I've seen comments questioning the quality....I can only speak for mine, and it feels well put together. Please pay attention to the construction, not just the appearance in the pictures. Keeping its shape is the IMPORTANT thing to me, and so far this has done that nicely.

This has been worth the money!
Living in Seattle, I walk four blocks between my bus stop and the office, so an umbrella gets a fair trial. Today was wet and gusty and I passed people wrestling with canopies turned inside out. Mine stayed in shape and my clothes stayed dry. You can feel it moving in the breeze, but it still felt secure in my hand. I'm impressed with how well this compact managed the walk. I've wasted enough on cheap umbrellas that barely see me through a wet day. I'd much rather pay for one that feels properly made. This has been worth the money!

You get a surprisingly decent umbrella for the money.
You get a surprisingly decent umbrella for the money. I like pressing a button instead of fighting a little catch with my fingers. It isn't some enormous storm shelter, but I've taken it through a couple of thunderstorms and it kept the rain off me. Nothing fancy, just does the job.

An automatic umbrella this size suits me very well.
Handy to bring along when rain is a possibility rather than a certainty. Mine measures about 40cm folded, so it fits the bag I use without much fuss. The button saves having to push the canopy up by hand. Compressing the shaft afterwards needs a firm push, but it locks down properly. An automatic umbrella this size suits me very well.

Really love how this umbrella looks!
Really love how this umbrella looks! There is a good amount of cover once it's up, even though it folds into a manageable size afterwards. It is heavier than I expected just looking at it, so bear that in mind if you want something feather light. The neat design is lovely and the oval handle suits my small hands, though I can imagine someone with bigger hands preferring a different grip. I bought it with special outings and meetups in mind rather than leaving it forgotten in a bag. Looking forward to showing it off!

Fits inside my purse and opens wide enough to keep the sun off me.
Fits inside my purse and opens wide enough to keep the sun off me. My one gripe is folding everything neatly again before putting it away. I spend a minute or two on it, sometimes having another go before I can fasten the strap around the folded fabric. Still, having a lovely umbrella right there for shade makes that little bit of fiddling worth it to me.

This umbrella has been a good purchase.
I spend a lot of time outside supervising children, and getting soaked while everyone else gets organised was becoming old very quickly. This umbrella has been a good purchase. It feels strong, has coped with the windy rain I've used it in, and gives me enough cover without having to stand absolutely still. It is quite an attractive umbrella as well.A few odd observations:1. There was a plasticky smell at first, so I left it open to air and that cleared.2. The box seemed much bigger than necessary for a folded umbrella. Quite funny when I opened it.3. Closing is not a completely hands-off affair. The button folds the canopy, then you push the telescoping stem in yourself. I take a moment to arrange the fabric before putting the sleeve on, otherwise I make a mess of it. Nothing that puts me off using it, just worth knowing if you expect one press to do everything.

This is actually my second of this kind.
This has been a very welcome umbrella on my walk from the subway into downtown. Maryland weather can change so quickly, and between the buildings even an ordinary wet day can feel quite blustery. I've had it out in those gusts and it DID NOT flip over, which is what I care about most. The frame has a reassuring feel without being a big long thing to carry indoors. I've even had someone tuck in beside me for a little shelter on the way, though it's comfier for one than two. This is actually my second of this kind. I thought I'd lost the first, ordered this, and then the original made its way back to me! Nothing wrong with that one, so now I have a spare rather than having to hunt around when the weather turns. Not the cheapest thing I could have bought, but the usefulness makes it money well spent!

Out of the way but still handy.
Best umbrella I've had I keep it behind the passenger seat in the car and it looks kind of badass there. Out of the way but still handy. I wondered about the handle sitting in the heat, but its stayed secure and the button still works fine. No tinkering needed, which is how I like things.
Kristina Jensen
The button operation works fine.
The button operation works fine. Haven't used it outdoors. I'm sending it back because I wanted something larger, not because anything is wrong with it.When open it's about 105cm across, which is reasonable for a compact umbrella. I should have paid more attention to the size before choosing it.
Chelsea Mclean
Nice gray colour.
Nice gray colour. Size suits me. Has a bit of weight to it, though I can manage. There is a sleeve included, which I do want for storing an umbrella in my bag. At this price I would still have liked something a little less bulky when folded. Not a cheap little throwaway, but it does feel solid and I'm happy enough to keep using it.

The umbrella itself was fine & the little girl was delighted, just the gift part was confusing because I assumed she'd know who sent it and there wasn't anything to make that clear, or at least they didn't see it, so the pkg arrived and I had to explain afterwards that it was from me

This umbrella has made a big difference.
Since I started walking to work each day (about 8 minutes) and coming home for lunch, rain was leaving me damp for most of the day. This umbrella has made a big difference. It covers me properly and I can keep my tote close under it as well, so that isn't getting drenched either. Even in a downpour it has done what I needed. Feels sturdy to use and I'm very glad I picked it.

With some umbrellas that seems impossible after the first use.
Being a tall guy, I often find compact umbrellas leave too much of me sticking out, but this one gives me proper cover without having to hunch under it. The frame feels substantial and the ribs have some give, rather than feeling brittle. I've had it out in ordinary rain and it has done exactly what I wanted. Folded up it is about 40cm long, which isn't tiny, but seems reasonable for the amount of canopy you get. I also like being able to open it and collapse the canopy using the button, then shorten the shaft by hand when I'm putting it away. Holding the oval loop feels secure, and I haven't found myself pressing the button by accident. Best of all, I can actually get it back into the sleeve it came with. With some umbrellas that seems impossible after the first use. I let it dry before putting it away properly, and the sleeve keeps the folded fabric tidy in my bag.

Our grandson (6 now) is so taken with his new umbrella--rain is apparently something to hope for--he carries it even on dry days--living around Boston he should get enough chances to try it properly. It hasn't been with him long, so I can't really comment yet on how well it will wear.

My little boy, 4, is delighted with it.
My little boy, 4, is delighted with it. He likes being the one who presses the button while I hold it, and there's enough cover for the walk in the rain. The handle is a closed oval loop, which he finds quite interesting (apparently that matters as much as the umbrella). Everything feels neatly put together. I would have liked something a bit more playful looking, but he seems perfectly happy with it just as it is.
Jake Oneill
It looked gorgeous and the whole thing felt really well put together.
Christmas surprise for my mom(who gets very excited about a nice umbrella). It looked gorgeous and the whole thing felt really well put together. I'd picked it out a couple of weeks before Christmas and was pleased to have something that felt worth giving her.It isn't the cheapest Umbrella, but I would rather pay a bit extra for something that feels this good. Hopefully she will have it for ages, because it really is BEAUTIFUL!
Gordon Ross
Automatic opening and closing of the canopy is very handy.
The build feels substantial, better than I was expecting. It's a fairly chunky bundle when folded, so I'd put it in a roomy bag rather than a small handbag. Automatic opening and closing of the canopy is very handy. Once up, there's a generous amount of cover, which I'm happy about.
Tiffany Cohen
One press brings the canopy in, then you push the stem down yourself.
For something that folds away into a backpack, this gives a good amount of shelter once opened. I'd prefer a slightly longer grip, although the shape does make it fairly tidy to pack. The button is especially useful at busy entrances where you don't want to stand wrestling with an umbrella while everyone squeezes past. One press brings the canopy in, then you push the stem down yourself. This is actually my replacement for the first one, which apparently appealed to whoever found it enough that it never came back...

I was looking more for a parasol than an umbrella.
I was looking more for a parasol than an umbrella. After having skin cancers removed from my face, I wanted something that would give me shade when I am outside. It looks quite pretty without being overdone. I am still careful about the sun, but it is nice to have that extra bit of shade. And if the weather changes, I haven't got to carry a second umbrella for rain. I also like the shape of the loop handle. Quite a smart little thing.
Derrick Cordova
I've come back to this umbrella three times now.
I've come back to this umbrella three times now. One got a lot of use over a year and a half, and another I managed to lose, so that one can't really be blamed on the umbrella. I wouldn't keep buying it if the size and sturdy feel weren't right for me. It's roomy enough for my needs but still something I can carry folded. The one point worth mentioning is the closing routine. Pressing the button gathers up the canopy; you still have to push the shaft down yourself. That takes a firm push and isn't the whole thing disappearing at one touch. Once I understood that it was straightforward. It opens promptly, keeps the rain off me, and the latest one has been working well.
Brent Combs
Mine arrived today and went straight out in the rain!
Mine arrived today and went straight out in the rain! What a smart looking umbrella - WOW! The handle is comfortable and feels substantial. Press once and it opens, press again and the canopy folds down (you push the shaft in by hand after that, hadn't used one like this before). Good coverage for me without carrying something enormous around. I think the money was well spent.
Kelsey Moore
Easy enough once I realised that.
Well, I looked at the details beforehand but it still seemed larger than I'd pictured once I opened it. Not quite the little umbrella I had in mind, though it works nicely. It took me a little while to understand closing it. The button gathers the canopy, but you have to push the pole back in yourself. Easy enough once I realised that.
Mariah Park
VERY solid feeling for a folding umbrella.
Being someone who burns easily, I appreciate having shade I can take along! This comes with me to little league games and the pool, and sitting under it is much nicer than having the sun straight on me. Others borrow it quite often. Works well for rain too.VERY solid feeling for a folding umbrella. When it's open I still watch the edges around other people, and I wouldn't leave it sitting open where the wind could catch it. The sleeve supplied with it is handy for storage, but this isn't one of those tiny umbrellas you can lose in a bag.
Teresa Chase
I've stayed dry through a heavy downpour.
Finally found one that copes with a blustery Chicago rain without flipping on me. The sturdiness is especially welcome when I've got a loaded stroller to push and just one hand left for the umbrella. I've stayed dry through a heavy downpour. Raincoats or ponchos aren't for me in summer, I get much too hot and sweaty.
Caroline Peters
The oval handle is such a nice detail!
I really love how polished this umbrella looks and feels. The oval handle is such a nice detail! My favourite part is collapsing the canopy with the button, because I am exactly the person who pinches a finger fumbling with those little metal catches. There is still the stem to shorten by hand, but that is straightforward. Practical without looking boring, which is what I wanted. Mine also turned up earlier than expected, ahead of my birthday. Very pleased, and absolutely recommended!
Michele Sullivan
This is my 2nd umbrella of this kind.
This is my 2nd umbrella of this kind. The first was a struggle to open and even shot out of my grip etc. I'd bought it for travel but didn't try it soon enough to return it. Decided to take another chance and this one's been fine. I do find closing it up quite hard though.
Stacie Conley
I absolutely love this umbrella, honestly love it.
I absolutely love this umbrella, honestly love it. The button makes such a difference, I'm usually fiddling around worrying about catching a finger when I open one so this is much nicer. Can manage it with gloves on as well, which is a big thing when it's cold and wet. A good size just for me and doesn't take over my bag either.Haven't had strong wind while using it yet so can't really comment on that, although the ribs do seem nicely flexible. I like being able to collapse the canopy at a press, then shorten the pole by hand once I'm out of the rain. Only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the price but with how much I like using it I'm not sorry I spent it. Friends have admired it too and now they want one.
Gabriella Keith
Still manages to fit into small spaces though.
A button that shuts the canopy - I keep giving everyone a demonstration. Feels really substantial in your hand too - not flimsy like some compact ones. I like it a lot. Took a star away because it's a bit bigger than I imagined. Still manages to fit into small spaces though.
Brandon Dixon
Don't expect golf umbrella coverage
Plenty of compact umbrellas are just cheap junk. This one's worth a look if you're sick of that. It fits in a backpack or briefcase and you forget it's there until you head out in rain without checking the forecast, like an idiot. Don't expect golf umbrella coverage; you can still get a bit wet, but you're not pissing off everyone walking beside you either. Been using mine for around three years with nothing breaking, though I don't live somewhere that rains all the time. Worth having a couple so each bag has one, alongside your regular bigger umbrella (not being paid for the recommendation, by the way).
Danny Todd
My smaller bags have been fine under it.
Getting through the downtown Chicago crowds with an umbrella can be a nuisance, especially when the wind starts pushing it about. I've found this one manageable and it hasn't turned inside out on my walks to work. It shelters me well without making every passing person an obstacle. A bulky backpack still sticks out behind me, so I wouldn't count on keeping that completely dry. My smaller bags have been fine under it. It's not the smallest thing once folded, and I do notice it in my bag, but for something I actually trust in the rain I'm happy to carry it.
Tommy Dawson
It does a lovely job keeping the rain off too.
Had been looking around for a housewarming gift for my neighbors and this umbrella finally gave me an idea. The umbrella looks even nicer in person and the whole thing feels really well made. It does a lovely job keeping the rain off too. Can't wait for them to see it. SO exctied to give it to them.....
Nicolas Sanford
overall I think it's a very good umbrella!
This is the sort of umbrella I wanted, something that feels properly made rather than another tiny one that won't last. It has enough canopy to keep me covered and has coped well with wind and rain. The loop handle is comfortable to hold when carrying it folded. For a short person like me, the folded length is still a little more than I would choose, even though it is compact. That is my only real reservation... overall I think it's a very good umbrella!
Yvonne Mcfarland
it feels substantial and has coped well on those windy streets.
After going through about ten umbrellas in a year here in Boston, I was tired of buying another one every time the weather turned.I've had this one for six months now and it's been a much better buy. The price gave me a pause at first but replacing cheap ones all the time adds up...it feels substantial and has coped well on those windy streets. I've seen enough abandoned umbrellas lying about to appreciate coming home with mine still usable.
Danny Levy
A sturdy little umbrella.
A sturdy little umbrella. I play golf quite often in the Pacific region and the course can be very breezy, so umbrellas get a fair amount of use. Some I've owned haven't lasted well at all. Last weekend I came off the green after putting and only then realised my push cart, golf bag and all, had gone into the sand bunker. The umbrella was with the bag, and after getting everything back out it still looked fine and opened normally. I wasn't expecting something this compact to feel so strong. I would happily buy another one.
Jeff Simon
There is a bit more weight than I was hoping for.
[KR] The material reminds me of tent fabric, quite thick feeling. There is a bit more weight than I was hoping for. I've only used it on one rainy day so can't say much about long term use. However, closing the canopy by button does make getting into the car much easier.
Jane Shannon
We now have two and both get regular use.
We finally spent a little more on a compact umbrella instead of picking up another cheap one and hoping for the best. I wasn't certain what to look for, but this felt much more solid when we opened it. We now have two and both get regular use. Our city is often gusty, so an umbrella that feels secure rather than flimsy is welcome, and these have held up well so far. The particularly useful part is the closing button. You can stay covered right up to a doorway, press it to draw the canopy in, and step inside without wrestling with it. After that I compress the telescoping shaft by hand. That last part is straightforward and doesn't take away from how convenient the button is when you're trying to get indoors.
Fred Crane
this thing is frickin' nice.
.Honestly I don't get why anyone expects some fancy designer thing for everyday umbrella money...this thing is frickin' nice. The canopy feels solid!Bought one for my boyfriend and he really likes that odd little loop handle. Apparently people at his office have noticed it too (that's what he tells me). It's useful as well as looking a bit different. Now I'm thinking I need my own and might make it all sparkly.
Yvonne Bean
No rain test yet!
I tend to like black things, so the look of this one really suits me. No rain test yet!It opens quite wide and the ribs look reassuring, so I'm hopeful about how it'll handle a breeze.Warning: noticed a little pale dust by the centre when I opened it, seemed to be from the packing and brushed right off.
Alvin Mckee
For what I need, I'm happy with this umbrella.
For what I need, I'm happy with this umbrella. It opens to a good size and feels reassuring when the weather gets gusty around here. I had two umbrellas I liked and managed to leave one some where, which really annoyed me. You get used to having a decent umbrella and then miss it when it's gone. That's why I decided to replace it with this one. It has been quite a few years since I bought the others, so I was wondering how this would compare. So far it seems like a good choice. Hoping it stays that way for a long time.
Kirsten Graves
She says it felt solid when she used it out in the rain !!!
An early / slightly late birthday present ..we got there in the end. My daughter is in Boston and gets plenty of windy rain, so she needs a sturdy umbrella. She says it felt solid when she used it out in the rain !!! And the pink is exactly her color !! Mom did alright on this one ;-)
Casey Hayden
That loop handle makes carrying it about surprisingly comfortable.
This umbrella has become my regular companion when the sky looks doubtful. That loop handle makes carrying it about surprisingly comfortable. Almost ridiculous, but I took it along one cloudy day even though nothing fell. This week I walked a few blocks for food in the snow, and wasn't brushing flakes off my jacket when I got there or when I came home. It earns its place by the door!
Larry Moreno
Makes people smile when they see our little one under it!
Makes people smile when they see our little one under it! From grown-up height you mostly see an umbrella with small legs going along underneath, so cute. The blue looks cheerful and our kids like carrying it. I still help with packing it away, but opening it is straightforward. Grandma got the first one, then three years later we got another for the second child. The first has had lots of use and the colour has faded a little, nothing much. Still going strong.

A month in and I'm pleased!
A month in and I'm pleased! Cheap umbrellas kept getting turned inside out on my way around town, so I wanted something that felt a bit more substantial. This one has been out with me five or six times now, through light rain and some wet snow, and it's done what I needed. I haven't tried a real downpour yet and i don't expect a small umbrella to protect absolutely everything in one. The frame feels solid when it's open. I used to have a larger umbrella that was a gift, and managed to lose it after years of hanging on to it. :-( Still miss that one! But this size was deliberate, since it fits into my work bag rather than staying in my hand all day. Hopefully that means I can keep track of it. Might add a bigger umbrella again eventually.
Elaine Hernandez

This was a gift, so my opinion is mostly based on what I was told. The price seemed reasonable for this sort of umbrella and it arrived promptly. The person I gave it to thought the blue looked lovely and rather smart. A few weeks later I've heard nothing negative, though I haven't tried it myself.
Joan Horne
A good buy for me.
A good buy for me. The plain styling/oval handle really suits it. One thing worth pointing out is the handle is a closed loop, not an open hook you hang over your arm. There are 30 flexible ribs under the cover as well - quite a lot for a folding umbrella. It feels like a PROPER umbrella rather than a flimsy spare.Nicely made.
Molly Schroeder
For the money I think these were a very good buy!
The gray is attractive and the whole umbrella feels nicely put together. Nothing flimsy about the fabric, and the button action is smooth. I bought several as Christmas presents and everyone seemed happy with how they looked and felt. For the money I think these were a very good buy!
Vernon Austin
A nicely made umbrella.
A nicely made umbrella. Watering the tree was a win for us. The box kept the frame safe and everything came out tidy. A cover is included also. There is a button, so less opening work by hand. Pushing the shaft back takes a firm press. But the ribs feel strong in a breeze, which I like. Many thanks, and thanks again for it.
Dennis Flowers
The umbrella itself has been a pleasure to use.
After about a month with this umbrella, it has earned its place among the things I take out every day. The oval loop gives it a rather different appearance from the usual folding umbrella, without making it awkward to carry around. It has attracted a few curious looks, which I don't mind. The handle is comfortable to hold, and I can keep a decent grip when the rain decides to come at me sideways rather than politely from above. The fabric and frame seem well put together, and one press gets the canopy open smoothly. No wrestling with a catch while already getting wet.
The sleeve is practical too. Once everything is dry, I like being able to cover it before putting it away with my other things. My only small grumble is that it needs a reasonably tidy fold to go into the sleeve easily. If I have just bundled the fabric together, I usually have to straighten it out first. That's mildly annoying when I'm in a hurry, but a fair exchange for having it packed neatly rather than flapping about. The umbrella itself has been a pleasure to use.
PROS:
++Distinctive loop handle
++Comfortable grip
++Good build and smooth opening
++Useful carry cover
CONS:
--Getting it neatly into its cover takes a little care
I'd recommend it to anyone who wants an everyday umbrella with a slightly different look, without giving up the practical part.
Ariel Mccullough
probably not what i'd take into a serious storm.
it's a fairly basic everyday umbrella, nothing fancy about the material. i wanted black, and the loop handle gives it a bit more character without being loud. probably not what i'd take into a serious storm. for the usual light showers though, it has been fine and i'm happy enough with it.
