So far I think I made a good choice.

My old umbrella was a little wider, so I wondered about the coverage on this. It has been enough for me and my dog, which was the main thing. Pressing the button to put it up is very convenient. Another press brings the canopy in, then I push the shaft back down myself. All quite straightforward. The handle sits nicely in my hand without any uncomfortable edges. So far I think I made a good choice. Hoping it gives me the same long service as the old one that finally went in the bin!

If it reached out just a little further it would be BRILLIANT!.

The umbrella feels good however i think i should have gone for a wider canopy, there's less cover around my sides than i had pictured. If it reached out just a little further it would be BRILLIANT!. Still does a decent job for one person and the whole thing feels strong and well put together.

Really pleased I went for this one!

Those tiny folding umbrellas were getting on my nerves, keeping my head dry and not much else. I wanted something I could still put in a bag, with a button to open it and collapse the canopy, but a useful spread overhead. This is just what I was after. Good cover for me, solid feeling construction and no wrestling to get it open. Really pleased I went for this one!

A great little sun umbrella for me.

I carry this around the university campus where I work and people keep noticing it. Having my own patch of shade makes walking between buildings much nicer on hot days. It is light enough that I actually take it along instead of leaving it behind. A great little sun umbrella for me.

An excellent purchase!

Reliability matters a lot to me in an umbrella, more than anything fancy. This black one feels substantial without being awkward to manage. The fabric feels good and the flexible frame has held its shape in the wet weather I've used it in. I'm severely disabled, so being able to open it with a press makes a REAL difference. The canopy closes just as readily with the button. Everything moves smoothly, nothing catching or needing a fight. Good materials, straightforward to use and a price I feel was fair. An excellent purchase!

Works just how I hoped.

Works just how I hoped. The button has a solid feel, not flimsy at all. Keeping it in the car. Pops open with some enthusiasm :)Definitely money well spent and now I'm thinking the grandkids each need one! You cant have too many useful umbrellas when the weather turns!

The oval loop handle is comfortable in my fairly small male hand.

Having three of these suits me perfectly. The oval loop handle is comfortable in my fairly small male hand. I walk to work, so keeping umbrellas at both ends helps avoid that familiar situation where they're all at home when I'm at work, or the other way around.

Weekend soccer matches mean a lot of sitting watching my daughter play. This gives me a decent patch of shade and I feel much less baked when the sun is out.A few other parents have asked about it after standing underneath for a minute. It's become something I make sure to bring along, and I've passed the recommendation on around the sidelines.

This is a very pretty umbrella, even in gray.

This is a very pretty umbrella, even in gray. Makes a wet day feel a bit less dull. I've had it two days and used it twice already. I was surprised by the size when opened, nearly as much coverage as my husband's larger umbrella. It feels solid and nicely made too. I'm really happy I chose it and hope it will last for long time. P.s. The gray is little bit duller than it looks on screen. Not a huge difference, but I can see it.

Deborah Payne

The umbrella works as expected and I have had no trouble with it.

Just leave some room around you when pressing the button, because the canopy opens quite quickly. . . For putting it away, use the button to collapse the canopy and then push the telescoping section together by hand, ready for the next opening. The umbrella works as expected and I have had no trouble with it.

For the price I thought it was worth a try.

Wanted to put my experience alongside the less positive comments, as mine has been quite good. It arrived without any trouble, so nothing to complain about there. As for the umbrella itself, my first impression was fairly ordinary. The appearance is plain, which suits me, and the frame looks reasonably substantial. I hadn't had rain to try it in when it arrived, so at first all I could judge was how it opened and how much room there was underneath. It's a useful size for me, though I wouldn't buy it expecting generous space for two people. I would still prefer a curved handle rather than the closed loop, but that is just personal preference. The button has been straightforward enough to use, so no complaints with that side of it. For the price I thought it was worth a try.Update: finally used it in rain and it kept me nicely covered. Felt good to hold too. pleased with it so far! It isn't huge, but I still have to be careful passing people on narrow pavements, otherwise the edge gets in the way. Folding it away afterwards is convenient.

My favourite use for it is as a sunshade.

My favourite use for it is as a sunshade. Being out of direct sun makes such a difference. I can press the button fine, but pushing the shaft back down is a bit much for my hands. My husband does that part easily. When he's out I leave it open by the door, handle resting in a lampshade. Odd place, but it means it's ready. I like it enough to want another beige one.

Eric Schmidt

It's solid and looks good, which made the change worthwhile.

I usually carry one of those very small umbrellas, so this felt a bit more substantial than I'm used to.It's solid and looks good, which made the change worthwhile. The sleeve is fairly simple compared with the umbrella, but still handy for keeping it together in my bag. I get a secure grip on the oval handle, even when it's blustery. It is heavier than my usual choice, that's the only drawback really, and I'm happy enough with the trade off.

Miguel Fisher

Love that!

Between buses and walking to work, I spend enough time in rain that a decent umbrella matters. My hair is curly and I wear it natural, so pulling a hood tight over it isn't really my favorite solution either. This one gives me room above my head without flattening everything, and I've been arriving a lot less damp. Love that! I hold it high enough that the edge isn't blocking my view, rather than trying to hide my face under it. Getting the fabric folded neatly again takes me a little fiddling, but that's not a deal breaker for me. It can ride in my bag when the weather clears, which is handy on public transit. For keeping my hair and shoulders out of everyday rain, I'm definitely happy with it :)

Peggy Humphrey

I've only had it out in blustery weather once so far.

Started walking to work and realised my old umbrella wasn't really doing enough. Fine for a quick dash, but on a longer walk my bag and I would end up wet. This one gives me better cover over my back as well as myself, and I don't have to keep shifting it around. I've only had it out in blustery weather once so far. It handled that outing well, even when the gusts kept coming from different directions, which was encouraging.

Karl Cordova

Florida weather has given this umbrella a fair amount of use already.

Florida weather has given this umbrella a fair amount of use already. I mainly wanted something that wouldn't feel so flimsy when a breeze comes up, and this has done well. It keeps the rain off and the frame still feels solid after being carried around plenty. I'm not especially gentle with umbrellas either. So far it seems like one I'll be keeping for quite a while.

Nicole Hicks

The handle is the part I'm less sure about.

Feels solid for a folding umbrella, and so far it hasn't turned inside out while I've been using it. That's the thing that usually puts me off the little ones. All those folding sections can make them feel rather flimsy, but this one feels better supported. Pressing the opening button gives it a good, definite pop rather than leaving you to help it along. Once spread out it covers me comfortably, without feeling like I'm taking over the pavement. The handle is the part I'm less sure about. The small oval loop sits comfortably enough in my hand when it's raining, and I don't feel as though I'm struggling to keep hold of it. Carrying it folded is another matter. I tend to want to slip an umbrella handle over my forearm when I need both hands, and this closed loop isn't big enough for that. It is handy for clipping onto a bag, though, and doesn't stick out the way a bigger handle would. A bit of a trade-off rather than a major problem. The supplied sleeve is useful for putting it away, so at least there's something to keep it contained in my bag.

Carla Armstrong

What a PRETTY umbrella!!

What a PRETTY umbrella!! One thing to watch is how quickly it opens, give yourself a little space before pressing the button. No need to wave it about near anybody. The closed loop handle is comfortable, though I can't just slip it over my wrist like a strap. But I LOVE taking this out! It gives me a lovely patch of shade when the sun is strong. Had it with me at a festival today and felt much more comfortable out in the summer heat. Several people noticed it too. :) Would I tell a friend to try one? Absolutely, it's been a pleasure to use!

Louis Ball

Easily my favorite umbrella so far.

I don't understand expecting an umbrella to keep your pants and shoes perfectly dry. Rain still comes sideways and there's water on the ground. That's just reality. Easily my favorite umbrella so far. My family keeps fighting over it, me included, so I'm planning to buy another two. Only gripe is that I sometimes lose my grip on the handle. Otherwise it's been great, hasn't turned inside out on me yet. I've been out with it in some thoroughly miserable rain.

Julian Baldwin

It's getting plenty of use already.

Once my grandson had an umbrella, well, the grandaughter had to have hers too. She's delighted! The button needs a firmer press than she can quite manage, so I help with that. Then off she goes, very proud of herself. It's getting plenty of use already. Neatly packed when it came. Thank you..

Cory Houston

Rain doesn't stop that job, unfortunately.

It arrived today and I've already ordered a second for my husband's car (which also gives me a backup if mine goes missing). Give it some room on that first press, it springs open pretty quickly! The coverage is just right for the evenings when I'm outside taking tickets, answering questions and pointing people where they need to go. Rain doesn't stop that job, unfortunately. I hadn't expected to be this enthusiastic about an umbrella, but it feels substantial, works simply and seems very good value. Looking forward to having the spare as well.

BEIGE COMPACT UMBRELLA--A very nice find.

BEIGE COMPACT UMBRELLA--A very nice find.I had spotted a beige umbrella in a magazine picture some time ago and kept thinking about getting one. I already have another umbrella from this company that has served me well, so I was happy to come across this one in the colour I wanted. It gives me the same good impression as the one I already own. The fabric looks neat and the whole thing has a sturdy feel, not something I feel I have to baby every time it rains. I especially like this shade of beige, quite soft without being dull. Folded up it is handy to take along, but open there is a good amount of cover. I would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a smart, practical umbrella for everyday use!

Jermaine Finley

Happy with this one and would recommend it.

I was a little unsure when I unpacked it because it felt more substantial than I expected. After using it I'm glad of that solid feel. It isn't the lightest umbrella, but it was comfortable enough on a rainy, windy walk and the canopy stayed where it should. Gives me decent coverage instead of leaving my shoulders out in the rain. The push button opening is very handy too. Happy with this one and would recommend it.

Carlos Patrick

A very good umbrella, looks smart and has a solid feel to it.

A very good umbrella, looks smart and has a solid feel to it.The button is the part I appreciate most, especially with packages in my arms , trying to get the car door open without getting soaked. One press draws the canopy down so I can get inside quickly. I can push the shaft down afterward, no need to do the whole job while standing outside the car or a shop entrance.

Peggy Stanton

Of all my umbrellas, this is the one I most like looking at...

Of all my umbrellas, this is the one I most like looking at...it makes even a miserable wet day seem a little nicer! It's not only about looks either. It's been dependable on my walks and has a reassuringly sturdy feel. I walk regardless of the forecast, though I haven't had it out in really wild weather yet. No doubt that day will arrive...if there's anything more to report, good or bad, I'll come back and say so!

Randall Marshall

A wider one would be nice also.

I have wanted an Umbrella like this for a long time, and now I finally have one. Here in Iraq that short daily walk, only about six minutes, still means a lot of strong sun. This gives me shade and makes it much more pleasant. I love using it. A wider one would be nice also.

Jason Walton

the loop handle gives me something easy to carry it by.

nice fabric. lovely beige. good cover. not too weighty. enough room for me with someone tucked close beside me. I mainly want it for shade when walking. wish it went a little smaller for my purse(it fits in my bigger bag). about 40cm when shut. the loop handle gives me something easy to carry it by. haven't really tested it in much wind yet. so i may come back and say more once its had a few proper outings.

Marie Salazar

It costs more than a throwaway umbrella, but the build seems worth it.

Finding my wife a compact umbrella with useful cover AND a frame that feels sturdy in a breeze narrowed the options. This one folds down neatly but isn't flimsy when it's open. It costs more than a throwaway umbrella, but the build seems worth it. The loop handle is useful rather than fancy, which is fine by me.

Larry Snow

Nice umbrella overall.

Nice umbrella overall. The frame feels solid and I find the button handy for opening and closing the canopy. There's good cover for one person, and it's much more comfortable under it when the sun is out. Folded, it isn't quite as small as I'd pictured, so you do need a fairly big purse. The main drawback for me is finding space for it.Update: Brought it to the Yucatan peninsula and was glad to have it for shade as well as the rain. It earned its place in the luggage.Update again: I'm keeping it in my larger bag now instead of trying to fit it into the little one. That works better for me. A useful umbrella, just not a tiny one!

Jason Baird

turns out it's a nicely made umbrella!

Birthday present for my husband. his face when he opened it said enough. i hadn't expected much at this price, honestly. turns out it's a nicely made umbrella! We can both get under it if we stand close, and he likes how neatly it packs away. now he's waiting for a wet day.

Jeanne Mcclain

The oval loop handle gives a firm grip and doesn't feel flimsy.

Ordering an umbrella online feels like a bit of a gamble, but this one turned out nicely. I was relieved when I opened it... haha. Design and colour: The cream white looks tidy and quite attractive. In the photos I wasn't sure it would be my style, but in person it's simple enough for me to carry without feeling it's too feminine. Build: The support ribs underneath look much more substantial than I had imagined. I have not put it through serious wind, but it feels solid in normal use. The oval loop handle gives a firm grip and doesn't feel flimsy. Size: Folded up I thought it might be rather small once open, but there is a good amount of cover for an adult man. It is still manageable to take along, which matters to me. Overall the finish is very decent for the cost. I can see myself getting plenty of use from it, both for rain and a little shade.

Matthew Steele

They like having a turn holding it with me there.

We've had this for a few weeks and the children have been keen to take it out whenever it rains. Mine are 3 and 5, so I handle the button and packing it away rather than leaving them to work it on their own. They like having a turn holding it with me there. The plain design suits either of them, so it's something they can share instead of needing different styles. It isn't see-through, so I do have to remind them not to bring it right down in front of their faces. For me it gives a useful amount of cover too, not something that only works for the kids. I like how it folds down for carrying between showers. Four stars for now because a few outings isn't enough to tell me how it will last. It looks nicely put together, though, and so far everyone here is happy to use it.

Chelsea Sexton

Nothing wrong with how it works, just something to be aware of.

My old compact umbrella had been with me several years, and the thing I liked about it was getting useful coverage without having a long umbrella to carry. When it was time to replace it, I looked for that same combination. This one has worked out well up to now. The canopy opens quickly with the button and folds down again just as easily; I still have to shorten the shaft by hand before packing it away. It is large enough to keep me covered and has felt solid in the gusts I've been caught in. I can't say much about how it will last yet, as that takes longer to find out.My one reservation is where the button sits. I have to watch where my thumb rests so I don't press it when I only mean to adjust my grip. Nothing wrong with how it works, just something to be aware of.Overall I'd recommend it to someone who wants a useful umbrella that can still go in a briefcase.

Roberta Vega

The umbrella works well, its the sleeve that takes me a minute.

The umbrella works well, its the sleeve that takes me a minute. If I dont get the folds laid down neatly it is a bit of a squeeze to put away. Cant say I enjoy fiddling with that but I dont design these things.Once its packed up it sits fine and the umbrella has kept me dry. Didnt seem worth making a fuss over something that small so I'm keeping it.

Kara Oneill

I'd certainly recommend it.

Living in Oregon makes me rather fussy about umbrellas, I'll admit. This one has earned its place by the door. It handles our everyday rain well and I like the plain look, even though I'm usually drawn to anything with a dog on it. Nice to have something practical that I enjoy carrying. I'd certainly recommend it.

Dillon Sanchez

It feels reasonably sturdy for a folding umbrella.

Our bigger umbrellas are useful, but I wanted something to put in a travel bag when rain is only a possibility. This is a good compromise, though it's not tiny enough for a pocket and you do notice it in a smaller bag. It feels reasonably sturdy for a folding umbrella. I like that it folds away neatly without much fuss over arranging the fabric before packing. It has dealt with the rain we've used it in, but I wouldn't treat it as a replacement for a full sized umbrella in really rough weather. For ordinary trips it suits us well, and I bought another for my spouse.

Joseph Newman

I'm happy with how solid it feels.

I'm happy with how solid it feels. Seems like it ought to last me a long while. Getting it back in its little bag is kinda fiddly, you have to fold it fairly neat but that's my only moan really. The rest is nice. And hey looking good as well doesn't hurt either

Martha Carpenter

It feels sturdy and hasn't given me any bother in wind.

I'm six feet tall and there's enough canopy to keep me covered. It feels sturdy and hasn't given me any bother in wind.update: brought it to Korea in monsoon season and was glad I packed it. It did well through the rain and I stayed dry underneath. Carrying it around all day got a little tiresome, even folded, but I'd still rather have had it.

Diamond Tyler

The frame seems substantial too.

My Christmas present for Mom was this umbrella because she finds the usual kind awkward to open and close. The button gets the canopy open with no fuss, and another press gathers it in. She still needs to compress the stem by hand, but likes this much better. The frame seems substantial too. Everything arrived promptly, and I was pleased with both the umbrella and the service.

Jermaine Keith

I LOVE having it.

My mother bought this for me at college because we get so much rain here. It feels strong, is put together nicely and actually keeps me dry. I LOVE having it. Looks much better in person than the photo suggests, honestly the picture doesn't show it off at ALL. Would happily have another

Marissa Pace

Will be telling friends about it.

Spent a few minutes working out how to put it away after folding the canopy with the button. Turns out you push the shaft back in yourself. A little note pointing that out would have saved me the puzzling. Once I understood it, no trouble at all. It looks smart and the whole thing seems nicely made. Will be telling friends about it. Added benifit: it packs away neatly too.

Joanna Richardson

- The automatic operation is good.

I was tired of paying for the flimsy umbrellas at the university shop, so decided to try this one instead. It feels like a much better purchase for everyday use. I wanted something reasonably neat that could live in my bag until it rained, rather than something huge to carry everywhere. A few observations, since these were the things I wondered about before buying: - Size is a compromise. Folded up it's easy enough to put away, and open it covers me comfortably. However, being a student with a bulky backpack, I have to think about how I'm holding it. A smaller bag would be less of an issue. You can't expect the coverage of a big umbrella without carrying a big umbrella, I suppose. - In ordinary rain I've been comfortable underneath it. Heavy rain coming at an angle is another matter; your lower legs are still exposed. That's worth remembering if you have a long walk. I'd pair it with sensible rain clothing rather than expect it to shelter absolutely everything. - The automatic operation is good. A press opens it promptly, and another press brings the canopy in. You do still compress the telescoping part yourself afterwards. That wasn't difficult once I understood the sequence, just not quite as hands-off as the words auto-close might suggest. - I wasn't sure about the closed oval handle initially, but it's comfortable enough in use. I did give it an unnecessary tug while looking everything over (probably taking my inspection too seriously :P). It's felt secure, and there hasn't been anything I've needed to fiddle with. Overall a practical replacement for what I had before.

Stefanie Wilkins

Pros: Good coverage for a folding one

Five months of use and I have no regrets about this umbrella. Pros: Good coverage for a folding one; I'm tall and it keeps my head and upper body dry. Someone else can tuck in beside me if we stay close. I've had it turn over once in a gust, but it went back into shape and was fine afterwards. The loop handle gives me a secure grip. So far the fabric and frame have coped well with the rain and wind I've used it in. Cons: It's compact, not tiny. On a dry day it's still something I notice carrying, although folding it away certainly helps.

Levi Green

For us the convenient size makes that small bit of effort worthwhile.

My own one has been riding around in my purse for over a year and has stood up to everyday use very well. Nothing sticking when I open it, no rain getting through, and it doesn't stay damp for ages after I've left it out to dry. When my husband needed a replacement, I picked the blue for him. He can get it into his briefcase and says it's much less trouble to carry than his old long umbrella. There is a sleeve included, if you prefer to put it away covered. One thing to know about closing is that the button gathers the canopy, not the whole handle assembly. You compress the stem yourself to finish. I caught a finger being careless with that once, so now I pay attention. For us the convenient size makes that small bit of effort worthwhile.

Geoffrey Navarro

I'd suggest this for anyone bothered by the sun when walking.

I'd suggest this for anyone bothered by the sun when walking. Blue is my favourite colour so that's what I chose. Useful at amusement parks or while watching the children playing in the park. I use it walking most places. Doesn't replace sunglasses, but when I forget them the shade is STILL VERY WELCOME. Just a little bulky when I'm carrying it around all day.

Mary Mcguire

Good value overall.

My 11 year old son takes this on his walk back from school. We get a fair amount of rain and wind in Florida, and it's been holding up nicely. The opening button makes it simple for him to manage. A little chunky in his bag, but a useful size once open. Good value overall.

Tony Oneal

Then it came out again for a few outdoor photos of the couple.

We got this umbrella after seeing rain forecast for our daughters wedding day. It ended up being needed several times, not just carried about just in case. Leaving the hair salon there was a heavy downpour and we managed to keep her hair dry. Then it came out again for a few outdoor photos of the couple. Not the weather we'd wanted, but having it there made the day a lot easier.

Yolanda Medina

A solid umbrella with a simple, smart appearance.

A solid umbrella with a simple, smart appearance. After taking it out a few times I'm pleased with how it works. The oval loop handle feels secure in my hand (and looks quite nice) and the button opens it smoothly every time. It folds down for carrying, but once open it gives me enough room without being a huge golf umbrella. My shoulder bag stays under cover along with me, which is really all I wanted from it.

Denise Melendez

The build feels solid and the design is sensible.

Purchased for my wife, who commutes on foot through boston every day. After a wet, blustery day you see cheap umbrellas abandoned around the city, and I wanted something that felt a bit more substantial. It has coped well with the rain and gusts she's encountered, and she likes having something that folds away rather than a long umbrella to carry. A firm grip still matters. It's also worth being realistic about coverage: if rain is coming at you sideways, your legs and parts of your coat will still get wet. A strong frame doesn't turn a compact canopy into a complete shelter. For everyday showers and breezes it's been a useful choice. The build feels solid and the design is sensible. I wouldn't call it cheap, and I wouldn't head into a serious storm expecting to stay dry, but I'm satisfied it was worth buying.

Maureen Estes

This one certainly has a solid feel and gives me decent cover.

I was tired of folding umbrellas that felt flimsy, so wanted something more substantial. This one certainly has a solid feel and gives me decent cover. The ribs have some give to them and it's been fine in the breezes I've used it in. What I'm less keen on is holding it for long. I tend to let the canopy sit close to my head/shoulder and the oval handle does'nt fall comfortably where my hand wants it. I'm 5'6" and it feels a little weighty that way. Holding it higher is better, but isn't how I naturally carry an umbrella.
