Easy enough to carry about.

Been using this fairly regularly for a few months now. Chicago gives umbrellas plenty to deal with, and this has coped better than the ones I used before. I'd say it's good value.Cons: Still needs holding carefully when it's gusty.Pros: Packs away neatly. Button action is convenient. Easy enough to carry about. And best of all, no turning inside out on me so far!

Fits in my larger backpack, though it does claim a fair bit of space.

Not one of those tiny umbrellas you forget is in your bag, but the size is a sensible compromise for me. Some compact ones barely cover a shoulder, while the big ones feel like something you ought to check into a cloakroom. This covers a reasonably broad bloke and his bag without needing constant adjustment. Fits in my larger backpack, though it does claim a fair bit of space. The frame feels sound, fabric has a decent weight to it and the opening action is smooth.

Useful in rain and for shade too.

Solid and sturdy. The size is good. Cream white looks pretty when it's open, a nice light color. Useful in rain and for shade too. Two adults can squeeze underneath if they stay close. Arrived nicely packed. It has some weight, but that gives it a reassuring feel rather than a flimsy one.

The shade is good and I feel less baked when I'm out.

I don't care to get in an argument about where things are made. people seem to decide the quality before they even try something, and that isn't really a review of the umbrella. Some of the complains are about everything except how it actually works. tell people what you liked about the design or didn't like, that is more useful than getting personal with each other.I went through the comments before buying because I wanted shade more than anything. I've had weeks of using it in the Texas sun now and walking feels much better with it overhead. it's enough shade for one person, not some enormous thing to cover everybody. I still pay attention to how I hold it when there's a breeze, no reason to let the wind catch underneath. The shade is good and I feel less baked when I'm out. folding it away for taking along is easy too. I wanted something portable rather than a huge umbrella and for that it has worked very well. so yes, I'm happy with what I got.

Light enough to carry easily and feels strong.

Light enough to carry easily and feels strong. I haven't had it out in a really severe thunderstorm, so can't speak for that. What pleases me is how much water comes off with a quick shake. I let it air a little before packing it away, and it has stayed looking clean. Very convenient for putting back in my bag.

I bought three and had pictured a warmer gray, so that was a surprise!

if you're fussy about shades, be aware the gray looks a bit cooler than I expected. I bought three and had pictured a warmer gray, so that was a surprise!still, they're nicely made umbrellas - a useful size when opened -- and they've been doing well in the rain so far...

My four year old has hardly let me have a turn ...up ,down,up,down...lol. She's so taken with it! The pink is really cute and she is fascinated by the button, wants to see it open again as soon as it's folded. I push the shaft in to reset it, then she's ready for another go. Feels nicely made as well, not just something pretty to look at. A definite hit!!!!!

The oval loop handle is a nice detail too!

The fabric looks really pretty in person, even nicer than I had pictured. I especially like the simple shape. The oval loop handle is a nice detail too! Plenty of coverage over a small child without needing a full length umbrella. It's been sturdy so far and easy to wipe down. Would recommend.

Penny Castro

A practical choice that I'm glad I made.

Opens promptly with the button and gives a useful amount of cover - then folds down small enough to carry easily. The flexible ribs feel substantial without making it cumbersome. I'd purchased a similar folding umbrella before, but this one feels better made to me. A practical choice that I'm glad I made.

Desiree Campos

I'd certainly recommend it.

My hair is naturally curly & gets frizzy as soon as rain touches it. This gives me enough cover to keep my hair dry, which makes a big difference. I hold it a little higher so I can see ahead easily. Much happier arriving without wet curls. I'd certainly recommend it.

I like how tough this umbrella feels.

I like how tough this umbrella feels. The unusual part to me is the handle shape. It's a closed oval rather than the usual little grip and gives you something substantial to hold.( I would like this sort of shape on more umbrella handles) The canopy could stand to be bigger for extra large people. It is enough for my use. The opening is smooth, and it has behaved well in blustery weather so far. A double canopy would still be an interesting idea. People sometimes leanon an umbrella as though it was a walking stick. I wouldn't do that with a folding one, sturdy feeling or not. For carrying and keeping the rain off, this has what I need. The plain look goes well with everyday clothes too. No fancy decoration necessary. I would consider a larger version if there was one. It's a good practical design. (A little more room under it is all I'd ask).

Gregory Villarreal

Quite pleased with this discovery.

My old umbrella finally giving up had one good consequence--I went looking and found this. Not quite the giant walking shelter I used to think I needed, but a much more sensible thing to carry. I took it out on a blustery evening and paid rather more attention to an umbrella than a normal person probably should. The canopy stayed in shape and I wasn't constantly wrestling it back into position. Those many flexible ribs seem to give it a nicely supported feel. The size open is about 105cm (plenty for me, not quite a wedding tent), and folded it's about 40cm. That makes a difference when I'm walking without actually needing it overhead. The opening button is quick; another press draws the canopy in, and then I push the shaft down myself. No mystery once you've done it. Price-wise, I think it's a very reasonable buy for something I expect to carry often. It doesn't have that cumbersome, oversized feeling, yet I haven't felt short of cover in ordinary rain. Quite pleased with this discovery.

It has a lovely, elegant look in cream white, but rain and a light…

It has a lovely, elegant look in cream white, but rain and a light breeze are about what I'd use it for. For that fierce Chicago wind, I wouldn't expect it to last, though very few umbrellas manage that anyway. If everyday rain is all you need covered then yes, it does that nicely! I got a quick reply when I raised my concerns, so I have no complaints about the help from the seller.

Wyatt Koch

Wow, much nicer than I'd imagined!

My fiance' had his umbrella taken while we were at a restaurant, so this was the replacement. Wow, much nicer than I'd imagined! It feels substantial and there's room for both of us if we walk close. He's delighted too. Has been keeping a very close eye on this one whenever he takes it out.

Tara Jacobs

This umbrella has coped with it very well.

The wind funnels right past the entrance at work, so even a bit of a breeze can feel pretty strong there. This umbrella has coped with it very well. Folded up, it's longer than the ones I generally buy and won't go in my usual car cubby, but the whole thing feels much more solid. No loose movement in the middle of the shaft. When I push the shaft back down after closing the canopy, there's a definite click, rather than that vague feeling where I wonder if it latched. I'll come back and add something if it develops any problems with time.I still wish covers were easier to deal with. The sleeve is a tight squeeze to get back over it, and I suspect I'll stop bothering with it as I tend to do.

The cheapest kind has its place.

I think there is a difference between an umbrella you keep around just in case, and one you expect to use for a long time. The cheapest kind has its place. If you tend to leave umbrellas behind, there isn't much point spending more on them. But if you manage to hang onto one, eventually it makes sense to get something a little more substantial. That was where I was after going through several cheap umbrellas. I wanted something better, but still small enough to put in my backpack, and this has worked out nicely. It keeps me dry and doesn't feel like something I'll be replacing after a few outings. One feature I appreciate is being able to shut the canopy with the button as well as open it. Once it folds in, you push the shaft down by hand, fasten the wrap and put it away. There is still that last step to do yourself, but the whole process is straightforward. I've had enough umbrellas to notice the difference in how this one feels. It seems sturdier than the basic ones I was using, and so far it has handled regular use well. I'm glad I went for a better one. I would still keep an inexpensive spare in the car for those occasions when anything is better than nothing. For an umbrella you actually intend to keep track of and carry regularly, though, I think this is a good choice.

Vernon Mccullough

We tried the button together and it opened without any fuss.

I chose this as a gift for my brother because he lives in the city and does a lot of walking at night. We tried the button together and it opened without any fuss. Collapsing the canopy is straightforward too, although he needed a couple of goes to get comfortable with shortening it again by hand. My one reservation is the size, as I had pictured a slightly wider canopy for him. There has been very little rain since Christmas, so he has mostly just tried it indoors. It seems a nice umbrella, but we'll know more once he's actually taken it out in wet weather.

Vicki Leblanc

Slightly bulky folded, but a useful umbrella.

Whether Chicago's windy reputation is about weather or politicians, I mainly wanted something that wouldn't fight me while carrying shoulder bags. This has handled ordinary gusts well and the canopy gives my bags some cover too. Slightly bulky folded, but a useful umbrella.

Lydia Coffey

My wife was after something she wouldn't have to keep replacing.

My wife was after something she wouldn't have to keep replacing. A few of her previous umbrellas were rather cheaply made, so sturdiness mattered more this time. Of Course this doesn't fold into the tiniest package, but that seems a fair trade for how solid it feels. So far it has done just what she wanted in the rain, and looks built to keep doing it.

Robin Reyes

Mine arrived in a few days!!

Mine arrived in a few days!! Medium sized, about 105cm across, not an enormous umbrella. The button action is quite sudden so I can see it giving somebody a fright. I find it fun! It folds the canopy too, then you push the stem in yourself. Feels strongly made and the price suited me~

Jeanette Oneal

My granddaughter chose the umbrella and wants to take it…

My granddaughter chose the umbrella and wants to take it everywhere, whether it's wet outside or not! She's two so the button is my job, but she loves standing underneath it. There is plenty of room over her and I feel happier holding it myself while she enjoys her little walks.

Michael Odom

The umbrella itself feels well made and we're both very happy with it.

Bought it for my husband at Christmas and his first expression was pretty much, an umbrella, seriously? Didn't take him long to admit it was a kickass umbrella though. He likes how it looks and has even had people ask him about it. I do wish the sleeve were a bit more structured, because getting the umbrella neatly back into that soft fabric isn't quite as quick as pulling it out. Once it's wrapped properly it fits fine, it's just not something to do in a rush. The umbrella itself feels well made and we're both very happy with it.

), so I can't say I've really tested it much.

There hasn't been much rain around here these past few months (midwest has been pretty dry...), so I can't say I've really tested it much. From opening it up though, the frame feels solid enough for normal wet weather. One thing worth mentioning is the photograph doesn't quite show how nice the pink is. In person it looks brighter and richer than I expected from the picture- a very pretty shade.

Audrey Howell

Rain coming down while the sun is still out.

I thought it might arrive a bit sooner, but I've liked using it since it got here. The button works without much fuss and it does the job in our usual weather.... Rain coming down while the sun is still out. The pink isn't quite the shade I had pictured, although I don't dislike it. If a colour expectation is all I can grumble about, then I think it's a pretty decent umbrella.

Ryan Salas

This made getting back to my car a lot less unpleasant.

One of those days where the rain comes sideways and everything is a struggle. This made getting back to my car a lot less unpleasant. It covered me well and didn't turn inside out while I was trying to get the door open. I could feel the wind tugging, but the umbrella stayed steady in my hand. Collapsing the canopy only needed a press, so I wasn't fighting that as well. Finished compressing the stem once inside and was glad not to be soaked.

Preston Cooper

I WOULD GET THE SAME AGAIN

BEST UMBRELLA WE HAVE HAD IN THIS HOUSE, EVERYONE SEEMS TO AGREE BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS THE ONE THAT DISAPPEARS FIRST WHEN IT RAINS. WHOEVER LEAVES EARLIEST TAKES IT AND THEN I AM LEFT HUNTING FOR AN OLD ONE. THERE IS PLENTY OF COVER FOR MY CLOTHES AND IT FEELS SO MUCH NICER TO USE THAN THE OTHERS. NOT THE CHEAPEST I COULD HAVE PICKED, BUT ABSOLUTELY MONEY WELL SPENT! I WOULD GET THE SAME AGAIN

Kristen Mercer

This umbrella, is a handy size and not a chore to carry.

This umbrella, is a handy size and not a chore to carry. Dries out nicely too, and it looks good which is always a bonus. The design is even nicer in person than in the picture. There's a button to spring it open and gather the canopy again, then a push on the stem finishes packing it away.

Debra Zavala

Not difficult, just worth knowing.

It feels a little less substantial than I expected, although still nicer than the ordinary umbrellas I've picked up in shops. The frame has been reassuring in breezy rain, which was what I cared about most. The button opens it properly and draws the canopy shut again, but it doesn't shorten the whole thing for you. You push the telescoping pole down yourself to finish packing it away. Not difficult, just worth knowing. The sleeve goes on without much fuss.

Ellen Glenn

Much less of a juggling act.

I didn't expect to have an opinion this strong about an umbrella, but this one has won me over. I've spent enough time wrestling awkward umbrellas to appreciate one that just opens when I need it. The button is especially handy, and pressing it again gathers the canopy before I push the handle and pole together. Much less of a juggling act. I haven't tested it in anything wild, only ordinary rain with a little wind, and it has been perfectly good in that. What I appreciate just as much is how neatly it packs away. The sleeve keeps it together and it fits in the side section of my school backpack without sticking out everywhere. A very useful little thing that I'm genuinely glad I bought.

Gina Daniels

The gray looks like the pictures and makes a nice change.

Bought this for my husband for father's day The frame feels solid and it opens without a fuss, useful for his bald head in sunshine as well as rain. I worried about coverage but there's enough room for him and our toddler on the walk into daycare. The gray looks like the pictures and makes a nice change. Pushing the shaft back down takes a bit of effort. Umbrellas in our house either get left somewhere or end up being used as pretend swords, despite what we say. So spending much above $25 wasn't something I wanted to do.Price was very reasonable when I looked at similar ones costing nearly double.

(That isn't my workplace anymore...

Rainy, breezy walks are much nicer when my hair, bag and shoulders aren't getting soaked, and I can still see ahead. People keep admiring this umbrella, which is lovely until somebody decides to help themselves at work.I've actually had two taken from the office, so this is number three. (That isn't my workplace anymore...)The button is easier on my thumbs than the old catches I remember wrestling with. Opening is straightforward, although remembering the closing routine needed a bit of practice. A press gathers the canopy, then I shorten the stem myself. Now I've got that sorted, carrying it is a pleasure and my thumbs get a break too.

Tabitha Stewart

Handles the rain well too, so not just something pretty.

I've been searching for a house warming present for my neighbors who love their Labrador and this feels right. The umbrella looks even nicer in person and seems properly made. Handles the rain well too, so not just something pretty. I think they're gonna be thrilled when I hand it over. SO excitied.....

Cody Arroyo

I help with pressing the telescoping part down afterward.

Absolutely delighted with how much my daughter enjoys this--good value too, and it feels strong rather than flimsy. She can put the canopy up with the button and bring it down again without wrestling with a catch. I help with pressing the telescoping part down afterward. Much less fuss getting ready for rain, and I'd happily choose the same one again.

Margaret Horne

Definitely one I'd recommend.

Turns out all my previous umbrellas were pretty rubbish, because this one is a completely different feel. It's SOLID in my hand without being a pain to carry around. In a breeze the canopy keeps its shape instead of flapping about. As for that loop handle? I really like it, much easier to get a hold of. People have commented on it too. Definitely one I'd recommend.

Lydia Atkinson

The ribs seem firm and the shade looks good when opened.

The bad reviews made me hesitate, but once it came I liked it enough to order a few more. Weight matters to me because heavy things are hard to hold, and this is manageable (not feather light, just manageable). The ribs seem firm and the shade looks good when opened. I expect it will do the rain job too. Still haven't actually taken it out haha.

Henry Sparks

With that expectation, I would be quite happy to choose another.

I had imagined a bit more room under it, so the coverage initially disappointed me. That is on me, though - I didn't really think through what a compact umbrella would mean in use.The construction seems good and the black is exactly right for the person I gave it to. It is a comfortable size for one person rather than something to share. With that expectation, I would be quite happy to choose another.

Natasha Copeland

I am ridiculously pleased with an umbrella but there you go.

Funny what can improve a miserable day!!!! I hate getting caught in rain but being able to put up my BLUE umbrella somehow cheers me up. Mine has lasted years and been along on holidays, including those stretches where it seems to rain every single day. I keep expecting it to look tired and it just keeps going, the fabric is still attached properly and the frame hasn't given me trouble. Other umbrellas I had never seemed to last once the weather got blustery, THIS HAS. Bought another to keep in reserve and haven't needed to touch it yet. I am ridiculously pleased with an umbrella but there you go.

Olivia Hurley

Fantastic umbrella.

Fantastic umbrella. You can feel that it's put together properly. The oval loop handle sits comfortably in my hand and gives me something firm to hold onto. Not one of those handles I spend the whole walk readjusting. When the rain comes it gives me plenty of cover, NO FUSS. It looks good as well, which never hurts. If you spend much time outside in wet weather it's an easy one to appreciate.

Tammy Frank

Feels solid too.

Only just received mine, so I haven't taken it out in any rain yet. I did try opening it and was surprised by how much cover there is from something that folds down this size. Feels solid too. On first impressions I'm very happy, but I'll come back once I've actually used it outside.

Shaun Lam

Better than I'd expected.

Better than I'd expected. The construction seems solid and the open size is just right for me. A press of the button opens it promptly. Another press gathers the canopy, then I shorten the shaft manually. Folded up, it goes neatly into its sleeve for storage. I'd always used straight handles before, but the closed oval loop is handy to carry and easy to hang on a peg afterwards. Everything is simple to operate and it looks nicely finished too.

Leslie Acevedo

Good practical size and a sensible price.

Quick to pop open and the button shuts the canopy just as easily. Fits neatly in the bag I take to work. I leave it partly open to dry before packing it away, so I'm not carrying a wet umbrella home. Good practical size and a sensible price. If I lost this one I'd be happy buying the same again.

Cassandra Mcintyre

It opens easily for her and feels fairly solid.

Out of the two umbrellas I picked up, this is the one my daughter takes to junior high. She usually walks or cycles, and our winter weather is mostly wet with a bit of wind. I wanted something she could manage on the walk without ending up soaked. It opens easily for her and feels fairly solid. Early days yet, but it has been doing well and I'm hopeful we'll get plenty of use from it.

Joan Webster

Nice size too.

I picked this out for my sister-in-law and honestly wanted to hang onto it myself! It's so pretty and actually useful! Nice size too. The whole thing feels solid -- not like one of those umbrellas you expect to use once. I'm glad I chose it for her and would happily recommend it!

Robin Harding

I'm loving this umbrella!

I'm loving this umbrella! I walk through downtown to the office and it covers me and the things I'm carrying without feeling cramped underneath. I also appreciate having a sleeve to put it in when it's dry. It keeps everything together for storing it, instead of the fabric getting caught on things in my bag. I do leave it open to dry after coming in from the rain. Then it folds down to a useful size and I can keep it with my work stuff until I need it again.

Doris Mann

The one annoyance was a dusty appearance when I first unpacked it.

I'd spent a few months looking for an umbrella that suited my taste, without much luck. This gray one has a simple look that appealed to me straight away, and I've had a few nice comments about it already. As for how it is lasting, I've had the umbrella about three months now and everything still seems in good shape. The one annoyance was a dusty appearance when I first unpacked it. I gave it a wipe inside & out before it looked its best, which wasn't really what I wanted to be doing with a new umbrella...

Stanley Cohen

i wanted this mainly for 2 things, having an umbrella i actually…

i wanted this mainly for 2 things, having an umbrella i actually like carrying and taking some nice pictures with my girlfriend. it looks lovely in the pictures and is useful when its raining too which is a bonus really. i was a little unsure how solid a folding one would be, but this has been fine in the breezes we've had. maybe a little pricey for an umbrella but i dont regret buying it, i would recomend it.

Kristine Mcdaniel

Feels like a well made umbrella.

Feels like a well made umbrella. The automatic opening is very handy and it hasn't felt flimsy when there's been a breeze. For something that folds down, the frame seems remarkably solid. It gives me much the same confidence as my full length umbrella (and those usually seem stronger to me).

April brought WIND again....

April brought WIND again....first outing with this umbrella..and it stayed steady walking to Church...then Lunch and a bit of Shopping...Kept me covered the whole time...Now thinking my daughter and daughter-in-law would both like one...a very happy first try!!

Living by Chicago's lakefront taught me to be choosy about umbrellas.

Living by Chicago's lakefront taught me to be choosy about umbrellas. I was tired of wrestling with flimsy ones whenever the weather turned. Settled on this after doing some reading and it's been a very good choice. It has coped with the rain here, and after four years of use I'm still happy to reach for it!

Stuart Alvarado

I stayed dry underneath it.

I'd had the umbrella for a few weeks before the weather gave me a proper reason to take it out. I generally cycle to work, but the forecast that morning was wet and gusty enough to persuade me to walk instead. Out came the umbrella. Having spent rather too long reading reviews before choosing one, I was still a little doubtful about how a compact model would manage once I was away from the front door. Well, it got a fairly thorough introduction. There was steady rain, a brief spell of sleet, and wind that seemed to change direction whenever I turned a corner. I stayed dry underneath it. During the stronger gusts I put my other hand on the handle as well, mostly because I didn't fancy chasing an umbrella down the street. It moved about overhead, of course, but I could keep it positioned properly and it didn't turn inside out. I was half expecting that to happen! One thing I noticed while standing under it was how many ribs there are. The canopy looks quite evenly supported rather than having big loose sections between the supports. I can't give a technical explanation for how it behaves in the wind, but on this walk the ribs flexed and the umbrella kept its shape. That was enough for me. By the time I reached work, after about a mile and a half, I felt considerably less doubtful about my purchase. A few people along the way were having a much less successful argument with their umbrellas, which made me appreciate mine even more. Appearance probably isn't the main point after all that, but it deserves a mention. The black is plain and smart, perfectly fine for taking to work. Folded up, it doesn't look like some enormous piece of rain gear. I also like the closed oval loop handle. It gave me a comfortable grip, including when I wanted to use both hands. The opening button is another small thing that is very welcome when you're trying to get covered quickly rather than stand in the rain fiddling with a catch. Five stars from me. Obviously one wet commute isn't a test of how many years something will last, but it was a very reassuring start. On the walk home I was already thinking that I ought to leave a review, because I'd been so unsure beforehand and so pleased afterwards.
