Easy to carry & quick to get up when the rain starts, but what I like most is how pleasant it looks. In Portland, OR we have enough cloudy days that I appreciate something I actually enjoy taking out! I once had a favourite umbrella that was stolen in a train station & I've missed having one I felt that way about. This isn't the same umbrella, of course, but it gives me that same small pleasure. I already have a button operated umbrella that I really enjoy using, and wanted another. I read automatic and pictured putting this one away with practically no effort at all. The button does open it and pull the canopy closed, but I still have to shorten the telescoping stem myself. That's how it's meant to work, just not what I had in mind. The umbrella itself seems good quality. For what I paid, though, the extra manual step leaves me a bit underwhelmed.

A year of using this near the waterfront has made me appreciate it more than when I first bought it. It gets windy here in Jersey City and there are always people wrestling with umbrellas or leaving them by the trash cans. I was expecting much the same, but mine has stayed the right way round in the weather I've taken it into. I can usually manage it in one hand without feeling like I'm fighting it.The coverage is comfortable for me, and there's room to share if we stand close. After regular use the handle is still firm and the fabric and ribs look good, nothing feels loose. It folds away neatly too, which matters when you carry it as much as I do. I'm glad I chose it and would recommend it.

The cream white was mainly to go with the horror-film decals on my car, if I'm honest. That's what sold me on it. Turns out it's a perfectly useful umbrella too & wasn't expensive, so I get to enjoy the look while staying dry. Still keep glancing over my shoulder for zombies when it's raining though. To open, a press of the handle button spreads the whole canopy. Another press gathers the canopy up again, after that you have to shorten the pole with your hands and it takes a firm push. Once done it is compact enough to put away. The open cover is a good size, keeps the rain off me well. Happy with the purchase.

Purchased this for use with my 2 1/2 year old, who likes having it out even without rain. I manage the button and folding, while he enjoys holding it with me. After several months of frequent use, the umbrella is still in very good condition. There is ample coverage when open, so an older child could use it as well. The frame feels substantial rather than delicate and stays securely open. The black is as shown in the photograph. I have seen children's umbrellas that seemed much flimsier, and this feels considerably more solid. Overall, the quality has been better than anticipated and I would be happy to recommend it.

Bought this before going to Mobile for a State tennis tournament in June. Anyone who's been there then knows shade is welcome! I wanted something to hold between matches rather than sit with the sun in my eyes. We ended up passing it round among teammates, and everyone appreciated having their own patch of shade for a while. Definitely more comfortable than being in direct sun. I've used it in rain as well and it has been just as useful!

Very solid feeling umbrella. We play golf often in the Pacific region and there can be plenty of gusting wind on the course. Had several umbrellas damaged before when my push cart went over while I was putting. Last weekend after finishing on the green, walked back only to find my cart and the whole golf bag down in a sand bunker. This umbrella had been left with the cart and I thought that would be it for it, but picked it up and it was still fine. I would have no hesitation getting another one.

Only slight disappointment is the black, it looked a little softer in the photo than it does in person. I wasn't especially impressed when I first took it out. The blue looked rather dull inside and there was a new fabric smell - not awful, just more noticeable than I'd expected. I left it open to air before putting it away.That helped a lot, and seeing the colour outside changed my mind about that too. It is a much nicer blue in daylight. Having now used it in rain, I can say the umbrella itself does its job well and feels properly put together. I would still have preferred not to need the airing out, so I'm leaving it at four stars. My first impression wasn't the best, but the umbrella I'm using now is one I'm happy to keep.

I had chosen the blue umbrella as a Christmas gift for my two year old, so not having it there on Christmas morning was a real letdown for both of us. What I appreciated was being kept informed afterwards instead of having to wonder what was happening. There were apologies and the umbrella did eventually reach us. My little one was delighted with it once it arrived, and I am happy with the quality. The start was disappointing, but the care taken afterwards left a much better impression. The green looks cheerful without being a whole collection of colours fighting each other. Open it up and there is a GOOD amount of coverage, about 105cm across. (Room over my shoulders, not just the top of my head.)It folds down much shorter than a full length umbrella, which is the useful part. The canopy has plenty of ribs underneath, 30 of them, and they have some give rather than feeling rigid and brittle. It has kept me nicely covered in ordinary rain. The oval handle is a closed loop, not a hook, and gives my hand something definite to hold.The opening is by push-button, with no reaching up into the folds. Another press closes the canopy; shortening the telescoping part is done by hand. That last step is worth knowing before expecting the entire umbrella to disappear into its handle! Everything feels substantial enough for regular use without being an enormous thing to lug around. It has the look of something a cartoon character would take along just in case a cloud followed them. ;-) Edit: Adding the bit I forgot. There is a carry sleeve included, and with the fabric folded neatly it goes back into that sleeve without a wrestling match. A small detail, but I appreciate not having loose folds everywhere in my bag. This should get plenty of outings. EXCELLENT.

After going through too many flimsy umbrellas, I wanted one that felt properly put together. This has that reassuring feel, even before opening it. Folded up, it's solid without being awkward to carry. The handle is particularly good: the closed loop feels comfortable in my hand, and I can keep a firm grip on it. A button opens the umbrella and folds the canopy in again. The shaft then needs pushing back by hand, which is straightforward once you've done it. I've had it out in blustery rain and it hasn't turned inside out or twisted about on me. Still, keep hold of it when a gust comes along, as there is plenty of canopy for the wind to catch. It gives me good coverage without feeling like I'm carrying an enormous umbrella. Slips into my briefcase nicely and should be equally handy in a carry-on bag. I can't judge years of use yet, but the construction and feel make me much happier than my previous purchases. Finally, an umbrella I'm glad to carry!

Nice sturdy umbrella with a useful button action. Opens to a good size, enough for two if we stay close together in the rain. Packing it away takes a little effort, since after the button closes the canopy you still need to push the pole in. Not a problem really. My smaller travel one never gave me enough cover, so I prefer this even with the extra bulk.

The whole frame feels substantial, not like something I need to nurse along whenever the weather turns. My hands are fairly large and the oval loop gives me a comfortable grip without feeling cramped. I also appreciate the unfussy look. The canopy, or whatever the proper name for the covered part is, has more room than I expected from a compact umbrella. It feels suited to me rather than like a tiny emergency one. For everyday use, the combination of a solid feel and a sensible size is pretty much ideal.

GREAT umbrella - I wanted decent cover without carrying a huge stick around, and this has been a good buy! Rain used to run down onto my trouser legs so I wanted a bit more room overhead, especially when I'm walking my little pup. This gives me a comfortable amount of cover and I can keep him close beside me too. Only thing I'd change is the final push to shorten it after the button has folded the canopy - needs a bit more pressure than I'd choose. I understand that's the normal way to reset it, just wish it were a little easier on my hands. Definitely not giving it up over that though - love it!

Buying an umbrella from a picture always makes me hesitate a little. You can see the general appearance, but not how the frame feels or whether it will be awkward to carry. I liked its appearance and the price seemed reasonable, so decided it was worth trying. Handling it was a pleasant surprise. It has a proper, useful canopy when opened, yet folds down into something I can actually take with me. The materials and the way it is put together feel better than I expected for the money. It was something I needed anyway, which makes finding good value even more satisfying. I have already told several friends that this one is worth a look.

I like an umbrella that looks simple and feels properly put together. After owning plenty of cheap ones, this feels like a worthwhile step up. The loop handle is comfortable and the frame feels solid. For the price I paid, I'm impressed and would replace it with the same one if I ever lost it. Best everyday umbrella I've had. Folded, it goes into my bag or the car door, yet there's enough canopy to keep me dry when the rain gets going. Closing it at the building entrance is the bit I especially appreciate. One press folds the canopy so I can step inside, then I collapse the stem by hand. Much less awkward than wrestling with a wet umbrella outside.

I gave this to my husband for taking along to games (we both enjoy them). I like the plain look, nothing loud about it, so he can use it anywhere. Only thing is I pictured a larger canopy. Fine for one person, but I wouldn't pick it for sharing. He prefers his umbrellas small enough to go in his backpack anyway, so he is happy with the size. Overall it worked out as a good present!
