Can't report on a storm, but for everyday use it's been excellent!
Only tried this in normal rain, not in a proper strong wind, so that's worth mentioning. It pops open one handed, and another press collapses the canopy, very handy when you're hurrying. There's good coverage once it's up, but it doesn't take over the bag when folded. Nothing has bothered me about it yet. Can't report on a storm, but for everyday use it's been excellent!

The button is handy when you're juggling your bag as well.
Useful for a trip when you don't want to carry a long umbrella everywhere. I took this for shade while queueing for theme park rides, and it fitted in my backpack with the other things I needed. Compact doesn't mean it will vanish into the smallest bag you own, so do look at the folded length before packing. :-P Mine is blue, which I rather like. It isn't something I'd pick for a day of battling strong wind, but for a bit of shade and as a rain backup it made sense. The button is handy when you're juggling your bag as well. I'd have preferred a little less weight for travelling, although it was manageable. Not a luxury umbrella, just a useful thing to have along, and I'm glad I remembered to pack it :-)
Dominic Patrick
The closed loop handle is a nice shape and easy to keep hold of.
It was just right for what I needed. The frame feels solid and the fabric is neatly finished. Opening it is just a press of the button, which is useful when you are holding other things. Another press folds the canopy down, and you push the shaft back in by hand afterwards. The closed loop handle is a nice shape and easy to keep hold of. There is also a sleeve to put it away in once everything is dry.I can't give an opinion on how it behaves in a downpour as that wasn't my reason for getting it. I used these as props in a theatre production. They looked really good on stage, so I'm happy with them for that purpose.

Quite pleased with my choice.
I chose this for a holiday in Egypt because I wanted an umbrella that felt sturdy but would not take up too much space. Price and folded size were what made me pick it. It is small enough for my bag and gives useful shade when open. I like the Cream White fabric, with the darker underside, although I don't know much about umbrella materials. At first I expected the button to pull the entire thing down. Once I understood that it closes the canopy and you compress the shaft by hand, it made sense. Tried it a few times and got used to it. Quite pleased with my choice.

Good umbrella, I am satisfied with it so far.
Good umbrella, I am satisfied with it so far. The sleeve is included and fits the folded umbrella. I liked the combination of pink outside and black underneath. Weight is around 390g, so it is noticeable in the hand but not too much to carry. Folded length is about 40cm, and the open canopy measures roughly 105cm across. There are 30 flexible ribs. The handle forms a closed oval loop, not the usual curved hook. Automatic action works correctly. One button press raises the canopy, another brings it down, then the telescoping pole has to be compressed by hand. This last movement needs some pressure, it is not something the button does. The fabric seems dense It is comfortable to use walking in ordinary rain and gives good cover for one person. With two people, you need to stand closer. The parcel arrived undamaged and I was able to follow its progress during delivery. Everything was in good condition on arrival.

Overall I think it's a very good one.
After reading quite a few good comments I decided to try this umbrella. Work means I'm travelling often, so something that packs away easily matters to me. Overall I think it's a very good one. It looks neat and feels more substantial than I expected from a folding umbrella. The button sends it open with a proper snap, and it felt secure when the rain got a bit windy. One thing worth knowing is the button folds the canopy, not the whole shaft. You still push that back into the handle yourself to get it ready again. I'd prefer one less step, but once I knew that it wasn't much trouble. Folded up, it's a handy size for travelling.

This fits in his backpack nicely and the loop handle is handy.
My son is away at college where it's often wet and windy, so I wanted an umbrella he could keep with him. I've used compact ones for years and prefer not having a long umbrella to carry around. This fits in his backpack nicely and the loop handle is handy. A nice extra is that the beige goes with his school colors, which made it an easy choice for him.
Garrett Kane
The oval loop handle was smaller than I pictured.
At 6 feet I probably carry an umbrella higher than most people, so coverage was something I was looking at.This one gives me enough room without being a huge umbrella to lug around! The black looks plain and smart, which is what I wanted. I wouldn't expect any compact umbrella to be happy in really strong wind, so I still use some common sense there. The automatic opening has been handy and after a month of use it's working nicely. The oval loop handle was smaller than I pictured. My hand goes around it comfortably, but it is a different feel from what I'm used to. Once I stopped thinking about that it was fine. Overall I'm glad I spent the money on this one.
Franklin Hodge
Handy to leave at work or in the car.
Never understood why umbrellas get divided into men's and women's, guys, it's rain cover. This one feels strong, and the button brings the canopy down neatly. Roomy enough open without being huge folded. Handy to leave at work or in the car. Does the job nicely.
Shelly Dorsey
Glad I went for it!
People have commented on this umbrella - surprised at how much cover I get from something I carry in my work bag! Nothing troublesome about using it so far, it pops open nicely and feels solid. Paying a little extra was worth it to me, because that decent coverage makes a miserable wet day a little easier. Glad I went for it!
Herbert Cohen
Last night I was out with two friends in wind and rain.
I like that it is easy to carry but still feels strong. Last night I was out with two friends in wind and rain. They were having trouble with their umbrellas and mine stayed in shape. The button opening and loop handle are nice things for me :). Folded, it is longer than some I had before, but I am getting used to this feeling.
Brett Ball
It has been solid in wind and rain so far.
Big enough over me that my backpack gets some cover too. It has been solid in wind and rain so far. The sleeve isn't a battle to put back on (even when I've already done it about 20 times). Just hit the button and its up, very easy. Only thing is the loop handle feels pretty big in my hand so smaller hands might not find it as comfortable.
Chad Schwartz
I'm very happy with this umbrella.
I'm very happy with this umbrella. I'm six feet tall, and walking the dog in a light rain leaves little more than a few spots around my trouser cuffs. It has felt steady in breezy weather as well, although rain blowing sideways is still going to find your legs. You'd need something enormous to avoid that, and I don't fancy walking the dog under a beach umbrella. It folds down neatly, and the supplied sleeve is handy for keeping it together in my bag. Pressing the button collapses the canopy, then I push the shaft back down before putting it away. The pink is cheerful, and I like the contrast with the black underside. Overall it's a useful balance of decent coverage and something I am actually willing to carry.
Dale Jacobs
Opening it with the button is easy.
A couple of really wet days made me realise I needed another umbrella. I work in a school, so something I can grab when going outside with the children is useful. This one gives me a good amount of cover and a child can stand close beside me too. Not room for a whole group, of course. The price was reasonable enough that keeping one in the classroom and another in the car makes sense.I also like having one at home. Opening it with the button is easy. Another press draws the canopy in, then I push the handle back towards the top. I wondered if a compact one would feel too small, but it seems a sensible size. Looking forward to taking it out!
Zoe Holloway
Cream white on top with black underneath looks nice.
Compared with the heavier umbrella I used before, this is easier to carry and the handle sits better in my hand. The ribs also move quietly, which I appreciate. Cream white on top with black underneath looks nice. I wouldn't assume the dark lining tells me exactly how much sun protection it provides, but for comfortable shade and ordinary rain I've been happy with what I paid.
Morgan Ellison
A very worthwhile everyday umbrella.
Most of its use has been in the thunderstorms we get here in Central Florida. It has been through some gusty rain already and has kept its shape, with the ribs flexing rather than feeling rigid. The button action has remained smooth.I've also been fairly careless about leaving it in the back seat, so it hasn't exactly been pampered. Looking it over, the stitching is still tidy and the fabric is sitting properly on the frame. I know some people are doubtful about compact umbrellas, but this one feels substantially better made than the cheap emergency ones I usually pick up. Not some luxury piece, nor did I pay luxury money for it.A very worthwhile everyday umbrella.
Krystal Terry
An umbrella I can recommend!
This folding umbrella is a sensible size for my backpack or a roomy handbag. Opened up, it provides proper everyday coverage rather than feeling like a tiny emergency umbrella. I've used mine for a few years in plenty of rain and some blustery weather, and it has stood up well. The button opens it and collapses the canopy; pushing the telescoping shaft in afterwards is a separate manual step. Folded length is about 40cm, so compact doesn't mean miniature. The stitching, fabric and framework all look carefully put together, and the oval loop handle gives it a distinctive finish. In short, it is useful, sturdy and *portable*. I've been extremely satisfied with how it has lasted. An umbrella I can recommend!

Have had this for a little under a year now.
Have had this for a little under a year now. I had imagined it would be lighter in the hand, but the weight hasn't stopped me carrying it. The frame looks substantial when it's open, and the coverage is good for a folding umbrella. It has coped with my normal rainy walks, although I haven't taken it out into really nasty sideways rain ... yet. You can feel a bit of movement when the wind catches the canopy, but it hasn't felt difficult to hold onto. Wouldn't describe it as a tiny pocket umbrella. For the use it's had so far, I'm satisfied.
Marcus Kelly
probably the sturdiest feeling compact umbrella I've had.
probably the sturdiest feeling compact umbrella I've had. Compact doesn't mean tiny though, and I wouldn't buy it expecting to slip it into a pocket. It takes a fair bit of room in a purse or briefcase. The closed loop handle is useful to hold onto, but it isn't a little hook. For a day of steady rain , I think the extra bulk is worth carrying. If you only want something for the odd sprinkle, you might prefer a much smaller umbrella.
Marcus Cherry
Has a good sturdy feel without seeming disposable.
Compared with a tiny purse umbrella there's a bit more to carry, and to me that's a fair trade. Wind around DC has finished off plenty of my umbrellas in the past. BUT I've used this for two years now and it's still doing fine. Has a good sturdy feel without seeming disposable. The side pocket on my backpack is where it lives, where the the water bottle would normally go, ready for any sudden rain. I'm not having to think about whether I remembered an umbrella before heading out. A really good one.
Jeanne Burch
These come along for the afternoon walk back from school.
These come along for the afternoon walk back from school. We aren't on a bus route, and I'd rather walk than sit through the long pickup queue. They give us some shade and my 6 year old thinks carrying her pink umbrella is the fanciest thing ever. She calls it her parasol and likes to show it off. We've had such a dry spell that they've only been used for sun so far, so I can't say how they do in rain.
Kayla Hutchinson
My recomendation: the automatic part is well worth having.
I've had button-operated umbrellas for years and bought another one for my daughter after liking mine so much. This one takes a little more effort to pack away, but I still think it's great. The handle feels more substantial in person than I expected from the picture. Opening it is quick, and a second press folds the canopy while I'm reaching out of the car door or carrying things into work. You do have to shorten the shaft yourself afterwards, so it isn't all done with one finger. That doesn't bother me. My recomendation: the automatic part is well worth having. Once you're used to it, going back to wrestling a wet umbrella closed is not very appealing.
Patty Powers
It has also kept me dry in the rain.
I bring this when I'm walking somewhere in the summer heat. It gives a useful patch of shade without having to carry a long sun umbrella around. Don't expect an enormous canopy, though-- this is still a compact umbrella. My wife and I can tuck under it together, but we have to stay fairly close. The blue looks nice and it makes walking in direct sun more comfortable. It has also kept me dry in the rain. You do still need to pay attention when there's a breeze, because an open umbrella will catch the air. I keep a firm grip rather than expecting it to look after itself.
Chloe Nielsen
Size is worth thinking about though.
After roughly a year of using this once a week, for either showers or shade, I'm still pleased with it. The automatic action has continued to work fine. At this price I wasn't counting on years and years from the mechanism, so that has been a nice surprise. Size is worth thinking about though. I'm five foot ten and it protects my upper half well, but wind can blow rain onto my legs and shoes. That doesn't make it a bad compact umbrella, just not full length shelter. If keeping nearly all of yourself dry is the main thing you want, a bigger canopy might suit you better. For what I use it for, it has been good.
Tammy Rowe
For travelling though, I would recommend it.
I bought another of these after using my first for a couple of years (this time pink). The build is decent, not something I'd call perfect. Its a useful size for travelling and I travel quite a bit. Doesn't crowd everything else out of my bag. The button opens it and folds the canopy again (you still have to shorten the shaft with a firm push). That automatic action mattered a lot to me. It is a touch heavier than I'd prefer, but manageable. It's NOT the one I'd pick for really gusty weather. For travelling though, I would recommend it.
Antonio Tanner
It's a useful size and has felt solid when the wind gets up.
My everyday umbrella is bigger, so I've left this one in my work drawer for unexpected rain. It's a useful size and has felt solid when the wind gets up. My only small question is the sleeve stitching, which looks a little fine, although it's holding up so far. Nothing that puts me off using it. Well worth considering if you need a small automatic umbrella to keep at the office.
Tracy Wilkerson
I'd be quite happy buying the same again!
I bought the Cream White umbrella in November for my daughter who's away at university. It reached her quickly and she says it feels much more substantial than the flimsy umbrellas she has seen in the campus shops. She uses it walking to classes in wet winter weather, and has been pleased with the coverage, including over her book bag. Being able to fold it away is convenient when she gets indoors.I can't comment on years of use yet, and will try to come back once she's had it longer. At the moment she is happy, which makes me happy with the purchase too. No difficulty ordering and no disappointment with the umbrella. If another was needed.....I'd be quite happy buying the same again!
Nathaniel Ryan
Used it for the first time yesterday and it kept me nice and dry.
Used it for the first time yesterday and it kept me nice and dry. Happy with how it worked. The sleeve makes it tidier to carry, and I especially like the loop handle for keeping it with my bag -- I am forever leaving umbrellas behind. There's a decent amount of cover once it's open too, enough for me and the things I carry to work, which so often end up damp with a smaller umbrella.
Chloe Weaver
People have said how nice it looks too.
Six months of using this and I'm still delighted with it! The coverage is good when I'm walking down the street for errands with my 15-month-old in my arms. Having the button to get it open is particularly useful with her to hold as well. We can stay close underneath without me having to carry a great big umbrella. We have stayed dry on those little walks. I do need to keep it high enough to see where we're going on a busy pavement, but that has been fine. People have said how nice it looks too.It feels fairly sturdy, although I haven't taken it out in really strong gusts. For a proper storm I'd probably reach for something larger.
Jim Kirk
I've stayed dry and can still watch where I'm walking.
My walk to work takes me through crowded downtown streets, and an umbrella that gets in everyone's way is no use to me. This one is manageable in the crowd and has handled the gusts I've met without turning inside out. I've stayed dry and can still watch where I'm walking. A bulky backpack does stick out beyond the cover, so that's worth bearing in mind, although my smaller bags fit underneath easily. Folded up it's a bit long to tuck away, but carrying it hasn't been much of a bother. For something I actually want to use in the rain, that's a fair trade.
Janice Dean
Looked much as I expected from the photo.
Looked much as I expected from the photo. The cream white is really pretty and the folded size is handy. I especially like having one button for opening and for folding the canopy in. You still shorten the pole yourself afterwards. I've been a bit careful about taking it out in strong gusts, but for the rain I've used it in it's been great. Pleased with it so far.
Alec Ball
I've taken it out several times now and it has been a good umbrella.
Solidly made with a simple classic appearance. I've taken it out several times now and it has been a good umbrella. The oval loop handle feels sturdy (and looks rather nice) and the opening button has worked smoothly each time. Although it packs down, there's a proper sized canopy when open, not a huge golf umbrella though. I carry my office bag over a shoulder and it has covered that as well as me, so I'm pleased with how much shelter it gives.
Kenneth Michael
A reassuringly solid umbrella.
A reassuringly solid umbrella. Seems well put together and has coped with wind+rain, yet it packs down neatly. Exactly the sort of thing I wanted. I'd happily recommend it for keeping in the car or at the office, rather than lugging a massive umbrella about. We get our share of rough weather in New England, so I wanted something that didn't feel flimsy. No complaints from me.
Cheyenne Henderson
The umbrella itself works, so we are keeping it.
The packaging did not inspire confidence. Looked like very little care had gone into it. The umbrella itself works, so we are keeping it. Daughter is soo taken with how it looks. For me it is more about appearance than the feel in the hand. Fine for ordinary rain, just not as substantial as I had hoped.
Kerry Padilla
The button is handy when I get to the door with my bag on.
We received this umbrella as a Christmas present and it has become the one I reach for. I've been walking to work for about eight years, a mile and a half each way, so having an umbrella that is actually pleasant to carry matters to me. It gives me enough coverage for myself and the backpack without feeling like I'm hauling a long pole around. Rainy mornings are where I appreciate it most, but I've used it for a bit of shade too.The streets between the tall buildings can get gusty, and I still pay attention to which way I'm holding it rather than expecting any umbrella to do everything. The button is handy when I get to the door with my bag on. Once I'm inside it folds into something I can put away. A genuinely useful Christmas present, and one I'm very happy to keep using!
Douglas Dennis
The workmanship is very good and it has dealt well with wind.
Used my last one for two years before losing it. The workmanship is very good and it has dealt well with wind. In heavy rain blowing sideways it won't leave your lower half dry, especially if you're out for a while. The balance feels right, though hanging onto it in a gust still takes a firm hand. Mine hasn't flipped inside out in use. This folds down for carrying rather than being walking-stick length. Opening is easy with the button, as is closing the canopy; you push the shaft back in by hand afterwards. I'd regard it as coverage for one, not a couple trying to squeeze underneath. For the quality and the way it has worked for me, I'm happy to give it five stars.
Elizabeth Johnson
Lovely blue too.
Picked this up about a month ago for my five year old. She is very taken with the blue and has been opening it around the house whenever I'll let her. We've put a stop to that now and are keeping it for rainy days! Only had one proper chance to use it outside, but she stayed dry and was very happy carrying it. The button is easy for her, although I help with pushing the shaft back down afterwards, and it's a bigger umbrella than the little children's ones. That's my main reservation for her age. It feels quite substantial and the loop gives her something to hang onto. I can't say much about how it lasts yet, but so far it seems nicely made. Lovely blue too.
Jacob Shaw
The size and the overall feel made a good first impression.
The size and the overall feel made a good first impression. So many ribs under the canopy make it feel reassuringly supported, and the button mechanism has a positive action. I walk to work and wanted decent coverage, without the loud sporty look some umbrellas have. The understated appearance is just right for that. It folded into my bag afterwards without much trouble. I've only used it in a light breeze so far and it behaved well, so I can't say anything useful about rougher weather. For my usual walk, I'm very happy with it.
Peter Hunter
The closed loop at the handle is a nice touch.
Wasn't sure about the black at first but I've come round to it. It works well and feels reassuringly solid without being a chore to carry. Has managed the wet and breezy days I've taken it through. Not a tiny pocket umbrella, but it folds neatly enough for my bag. The closed loop at the handle is a nice touch.
Diane Collins
My main reservation is the oval handle.
For commuting this has been a solid choice, especially the way it feels when it's open. The frame seems well put together and the automatic opening is useful heading out into the rain.My main reservation is the oval handle. There's less room for my hand than I'd ideally want, so I find myself shifting my grip on longer walks. It works fine for a short trip, just not my favourite shape to hold. On balance, though, it's a good umbrella and convenient to pack away.
Alvin Mcfarland
The good: Comfortable to carry for its size, gives useful shade as…
The good: Comfortable to carry for its size, gives useful shade as well as rain cover, looks smart enough for walking around town, flexible ribs rather than a rigid feeling frame. The button is less fiddly than hauling a canopy up by hand, and the oval grip gives me something definite to hold (I don't need a huge umbrella, just one that doesn't make every outing feel like equipment transport. The less good: About 390g isn't nothing when you're already carrying other things, and arranging all the fabric neatly after use takes patience--I smooth the folds out rather than forcing everything into a bundle--minor fussing, the actual umbrella has been excellent.
Arthur Jennings
The black was a good fit for what I wanted too.
I took this along for a weekend volunteering at a charity event in Philadelphia. I wanted an umbrella that gave decent coverage, felt sturdy in the hand and wasn't too much to carry while helping out. The black was a good fit for what I wanted too. There was a lot of rain that weekend, so it certainly wasn't just sitting in my bag. It kept me covered, and a photographer could tuck in close alongside when needed, although this isn't a huge golf umbrella. I liked having the button opening when my other hand was occupied. The ribs have some flexibility and the whole thing feels well put together. My tall husband found the coverage useful as well. It suits the sort of landscape photography I do, or simply taking a walk when the sky looks doubtful. After that weekend's use I'd be happy to buy one as a gift.
Maxwell Bautista
A solid, nicely made umbrella.
Walking with a stuffed backpack and a purse usually means something gets wet, even if my head doesn't. This umbrella has made a real difference. I can get my bag tucked in AND keep my hands out of the rain without constantly moving the handle about. It's a comfortable amount of cover for me, not an enormous two-person shelter, which is fine. It also feels steady in the breezes I've been out in.A solid, nicely made umbrella. I'm enjoying rainy walks again instead of worrying about all the things I'm carrying. More than I normally spend on one, but I'm glad I did.
Mikayla Petersen
It looks well put together.
Had this umbrella a few months now and I walk to work on the east coast, so it has had some use. Wind was always the thing I dreaded with an umbrella, but this one has felt reassuring so far. It looks well put together. The loop handle feels comfortable in my hand and the plain black finish looks right with work clothes. I've even had comments on how smart it looks. Not the cheapest sort of umbrella, but I think the finish and solid feel justify paying a little extra. A useful size when open without needing to carry a long stick around all day.
Patricia Hill
The sleeve keeps it tidy once dry too.
I spend a lot of time crossing busy parking lots for groceries, errands and the bus, so an umbrella gets plenty of use. Having this ready means I'm not trying to rush through the rain with shopping in my hands. The quick opening is a real help when I'm juggling things, and the canopy gives me enough cover. Carrying an umbrella after the rain stops is usually the annoying part for me. Here I can fold it up and clip the loop handle onto my bag instead of keeping one hand occupied the whole way home. The sleeve keeps it tidy once dry too. It's a manageable weight, which matters when you've already got enough to carry. Very pleased with this one!
Abigail Parrish
The oval handle feels firm in my hand.
I mainly wanted something to give me shade during summer golf, rather than buying it for rain. Standing under this is noticeably more comfortable than standing out in the sun. I carry it around the course and open it when I need a shaded place to stand, then fold it away again. It has also been out in a shower and kept the rain off as it should. The oval handle feels firm in my hand. No need for a great long umbrella to get some useful shade, which is what I was after in the first place.
Albert Murillo
Rain gave me a chance to try this as soon as it arrived.
Rain gave me a chance to try this as soon as it arrived. Did the job very well and kept me covered. The button gets it open fast and it seems solid enough. The cream white colour has a nice clean look. It is about 40cm folded so not tiny, but goes into my bag without a struggle.
Joann Huang
These appear to be sensible umbrellas for the job we had in mind.
These appear to be sensible umbrellas for the job we had in mind. After a thoroughly wet Sunday morning, with people hurrying across the church parking lot getting soaked, one of the men suggested keeping umbrellas by the door. Someone could take one out and help a person get from their car to the entrance. We considered larger umbrellas, but wanted something easy to store and handle rather than a lot of equipment. Buying three of these seemed a reasonable use of the money. They open readily and feel substantial without taking up much room when folded. The church is on a rather exposed hill, so time will tell how they cope there, but the first impression is very encouraging.
Gene Kirby
I was glad I'd brought this umbrella.
Just walked the four blocks from the bus to my office here in Seattle, with wind blowing the rain about. I was glad I'd brought this umbrella. I passed people struggling to keep their umbrellas the right way round. Mine kept its shape and I reached the office comfortably dry. I could feel the canopy moving with the gusts, but it never felt out of control in my hand. Very pleased with how it handled that walk. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a solid everyday umbrella rather than something that feels flimsy from the start. Money well spent!
Andres Snow
What stands out to me is how solid this umbrella feels.
What stands out to me is how solid this umbrella feels. The handle shape took some getting used to. It's an enclosed oval rather than the usual curved handle, which is practical for carrying;( I would keep this shape on any umbrella meant to travel about with you) The canopy might want to be larger if you're a very big person. Opens nice and smoothly. After using it in wet weather the frame still feels firm and everything moves as it should. A little more coverage could be a suggestion. Some people want the smallest possible umbrella to disappear in thier bag. This has a bit of substance to it as well. Not a bad thing to my mind. Wet day or not. I like something that feels ready to use rather than too delicate to bother with. The whole thing looks quite smart with everyday clothes. (A roomier canopy would be my one suggestion).
